It’s Just Another Gold Digger

My post ‘A Bit More About Those Very Muddy Waters’ detailed how in the early 1990s a young woman called Rebecca Teacher made headlines in the UK after she claimed to have been horrifically abused in a commune near Bangor as a child. Rebecca told a story of running away with a friend and telling both the police in Bangor and Gwynedd Social Services of terrible physical and sexual abuse of children in the commune, only to be taken into care for a short while and then returned to her abusers. Rebecca appeared on the ‘Kilroy’ programme, which at about the same time invited Dafydd along to star in one show in his capacity as an ‘expert’ to discuss PTSD. When Rebecca appeared on ‘Kilroy’, Kilroy also invited her dad along, Kevin Teacher, the leader of the community and, Rebecca alleged, her abuser. Kevin Teacher was aggressive and unpleasant to Rebecca on camera and carried on in a rather Top Doctoresque manner, making comments along the lines of ‘well Rebecca you’ll remember when the Bangor Police arrested you for stealing’, when Rebecca was describing the brutal beatings that she alleged that she and other kids in the commune had received.

I have found an article in ‘The Independent’ dated 11 August 1993 reporting that Rebecca and her stepfather, William Webb, had appeared at the Old Bailey and denied conspiracy to blackmail Kevin Teacher (real name Kevin O’Byrne). It was alleged that Rebecca and William Webb ‘carried out a blackmail campaign’ in 1992, threatening to tell newspapers how children living with The Teachers had been sexually and physically abused unless her father paid up. David Bate, for the prosecution, told the Old Bailey that Rebecca had claimed that ‘she and other children were treated like slaves at the cult commune near Bangor in North Wales’ and that Kevin O’Byrne ‘forced children to beat each other up. He also beat the children with curtain rails or horse whips’ and that ‘Ms Teacher told police she demanded between £40,000 and £60,000 from her father after failing to sue him for damage she allegedly suffered in childhood.’

On 19 August 1993, The Indie reported that Rebecca and William Webb had been cleared of blackmail and explained that:

After her acquittal by a jury at the Old Bailey in London, Rebecca Teacher, 18, said that she would be asking the police to investigate The Teachers, set up by her father Kevin O’Byrne, 55. She said: ‘The trial has been an ordeal and I want to try and put my life together now.’ Her stepfather William Webb, 43, was also found not guilty. The defendants, both from Barnet, north London, had denied conspiring to blackmail Mr O’Byrne, who styles himself ‘Kevin of the Teachers’. The court was told that Mr O’Byrne received telephone calls from the defendants last year demanding between pounds 40,000 and pounds 60,000. They threatened to expose the sect’s activities to newspapers if he did not pay up. Mr Webb, a laser consultant, and Miss Teacher admitted demanding the money, but said it was to compensate her for years of suffering. She made the calls after her efforts to sue her father and her attempts to alert the authorities to her plight failed. Mr O’Byrne jointly founded the sect in 1972. The court was told that he believed incest should no longer be a crime because the ‘genetic difficulties’ that it might cause could be avoided through contraception. The court was also told that children were beaten, whipped, locked up for days without food and made to look after the animals at The Teachers’ remote farmhouse commune near Bangor, North Wales.

But David Bate, for the prosecution, said that although the sect was ‘weird and bizarre’ it was not on trial. The issue was not whether the allegations of abuse were true, but whether the blackmail demands were warranted. Miss Teacher was born into the sect and the court was told that she was beaten and sexually abused until her mother and Mr Webb left the group when she was aged 11. She was one of at least 12 children fathered by Mr O’Byrne with six women. She said yesterday: ‘I did this not just for myself but for the other children.’ Mr O’Byrne did not give evidence. His absence was described by Judge Clive Tayler as being like ‘Hamlet without the Prince’.

There must have been another trial soon after as well, because ‘Court News UK’ reported that on Nov 2, 1993 Kevin Teacher’s son Matthew O’Byrne, age 28, told the Old Bailey that when living at the commune, he sexually abused other children. I do not have access to the full report on ‘Court News UK’, so I have no idea of the details of this trial or its outcome.

The Teachers were a community who lived on a farm at Tregarth. They had left by the time that Rebecca went public, but The Teachers were still at Tregarth when I arrived at UCNW/Bangor University in 1981. Wales was heaving with hippies, communes and alternative people at the time and many of them were making things – crafts, clothes, jewellery etc – which they would sell. The Teachers were rather different in that they had a shop in Bangor and a rather strange shop at that. The shop sold educational materials for children, but inside the shop, the walls were plastered in posters promoting the notion of ‘family planning’. It was seriously weird. I looked around the shop a few times but because there weren’t any books for adults in there I didn’t bother to make it a regular stopping place of mine. The shop assistants weren’t at all chatty, so I didn’t get to know them either.

I hadn’t been in Bangor long however when I heard more about The Teachers. I was living in hall and at one point I thought about moving out and I went to view a little cottage near Church Island at Menai Bridge. A young woman and her boyfriend were sharing it with another girl who was moving out of the house, so they had advertised a room. I went to see the house and spent the morning chatting with the two who I’d be sharing with if I did move in. The young woman was a dental nurse and her boyfriend was a PhD student in Marine Sciences. Because I was relatively new to Bangor, we chatted about everything and they briefed me. They asked me if I’d met any of the hippies in the communes and I said that I’d been in The Teachers’ shop. They told me not to have anything to do with The Teachers because they were really bad news, but another community at Aber, the Sanyassins, were fine.

The Sanyassins, or Orange People, were followers of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, who excited the ‘Daily Mail’ because of the orgies which Bhagwan was alleged to have encouraged at his main communes outside of the UK and of course because Bhagwan owned a fleet of Rolls Royces. There were still a few former Orange People living around Bethesda when I lived there in the 1990s. One was called Promod, real name Peter Greenaway, who was married to Alison Greenaway, who was the manager of the MIND Centre at Abbey Road, Bangor. Alison Greenaway was a complete stooge of Dafydd and the gang, the MIND centre colluded with them and silenced all dissent. Alison Greenaway later became a psychiatric social worker and spent many enjoyable years standing by silently while patients died or were framed and imprisoned. Another Orange Person whom I knew was a mate of Alison’s, a woman called Jackie, who used to spend much time in Turkey enjoying the company of young Turkish men while her partner, a gentle man who was constantly stoned, was told to put up with it. Then Jackie discovered the joys of The Gambia and moved a Gambian toyboy in and relegated her stoned partner to the attic.

I knew another Sanyassin very well, because he was a Hergest patient. He moved into Rachub and the whole village was told that he was a nutter who was ‘a danger to women’. He wasn’t – one of my friends was his girlfriend. He had spent some time living in south Wales and when he was there he told us that he was wrongly accused by a female police officer and then violently attacked by a number of male police officers and hit on the head with a truncheon so hard that he was seriously injured. He was arrested – for assaulting the woman police officer. When under arrest, he requested medical help and was diagnosed with ‘paranoid schizophrenia’ and sectioned. He appeared in court, was found guilty of assault and was put on probation. He wanted to return to Bethesda, so his ‘care’ was transferred to Dr Tony Francis at the Hergest Unit and the North Wales Probation Service took over his ‘case’. His girlfriend told me that she had seen the photos of the serious injuries which the police inflicted and she also told me that both Tony Francis and the probation officer had admitted to her that the Sanyassin had been severely beaten up by the South Wales Police and framed. None of that was recorded on his medical notes or his probation file. The official story was that he was a ‘paranoid schizophrenic’ – Alison and Jackie agreed with the diagnosis – who had brought it on himself by blowing dope. Every time that this man announced that he would try and come off his medication, he would be sectioned and dosed up again. His girlfriend visited him regularly when he was an in-patient in Hergest and noted the abuse and neglect on the part of the staff, as well as their lies in the face of complaint.

The Hergest staff didn’t know this, but before that man joined Bhagwan’s community, he was doing a post-doc at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. He spoke to me about the malpractice and fuckwittery that he witnessed there. A few months ago, someone from Bethesda told me that he’d been found dead, but I don’t know any details. For further details of this man’s brutal treatment at the hands of the South Wales Police and the collusion of the all agencies with the violent thugs who nearly killed him, see post ‘A Bit More About Those Very Muddy Waters’.

The dental nurse who warned me against The Teachers had a mother who was a midwife at St David’s Hospital in Bangor and she told me that there were constant allegations that the children of The Teachers were being mistreated and that the adults ‘shared’ the children, so the kids didn’t have any specific parents to rely on. I heard about Kevin Teacher as well – that he was mad, an absolute git who accompanied the women and children EVERYWHERE, even to hospital appointments and dominated the whole commune. The midwife who worked at St David’s had told her daughter that Kevin Teacher used to arrive at St David’s with whichever woman from the commune was in labour and would refuse to leave them alone with the Top Docs and Angels. Furthermore, I was told that there was an experimental birthing pool at St David’s and Kevin really freaked the Top Docs out because he got into the pool along with the women.

As ever with An Everyday Story Of North Wales Folk, one had to untangle the mess. The Teachers did have a terrible reputation, I was later told that by other people as well. But so did St David’s Hospital in Bangor. My post ‘The BMA And It’s Ethics’ describes just some of what I knew was going on up there – the illegal abducting of newborns of women who’s families had conspired with Dafydd, false accusations made against women miscarrying that they had tried to procure an abortion, women being treated appallingly insensitively and even concerns that patients were sexually assaulted by some staff. St David’s Hospital was fully on board with Dafydd’s gang. There was one obstetrician up there who severely brain damaged one baby after buggering up the delivery. The mother wasn’t told what had happened and no admissions were ever made by the Top Docs. The same Top Doc then buggered up another delivery, resulting in another brain damaged baby and was found a job in Australia in order for silence to be maintained. St David’s employed a monster of a senior nurse who’s sole purpose was to intimidate parents who were complaining of damaged or dead babies. There were very, very big problems at that hospital and every Top Doc and midwife knew it.

When I told the Hergest Unit a few years later what I had heard about St David’s, it was flatly denied. Er – I had spoken to women who had delivered up there and they supplied quite enough evidence to confirm that what they were saying was true. There was also a problem with the community midwives back in the 1980s. One of my neighbours on Anglesey told me how bloody rude the midwife was, she even marched into their house without knocking, so her husband kicked her out.

If I had given birth at St David’s I would have taken the father of the baby in with me as a bodyguard, so who knows, perhaps the women of The Teachers felt like that as well. It is difficult to know who would have been less helpful to the patients, Kevin Teacher or the St David’s staff.

As ever, people were reluctant to make a fuss about their ‘care’ at St David’s lest there was Retribution. So now that Dr David Reed and his wife Fiona are safely out of the clutches of the Top Docs, perhaps they’d like to confirm that they were very, very distressed at the way in which Fiona was treated during the birth of her first baby, but Dave was doing his PhD at Ysbyty Gwynedd and Fiona was working as a secretary there…

St David’s closed down in the 1990s, but as with the closure of the North Wales Hospital Denbigh, the mad, abusive staff were simply relocated to a new unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd. The bad attitudes and mistreatment of patients continued. When I was doing my PhD, one member of staff at Bangor University told me that the delivery of her baby had been so badly handled that the baby had been left brain damaged – but fortunately not seriously – and she had been left with PTSD herself because of the brutality with which she had been treated. She sued and won. How did this patient win a case against Gwynedd Health Authority when women who’s babies actually died were told to sod off and no admissions were made? She was an Angel of course, who had the dirt on them, so they paid up.  This Angel continued in the same vein over the following years, bagging successive jobs which she could not do on the back of her knowledge of NHS wrongdoing. She hit the jackpot when she shared an office with me because she found out about the first batch of documents that my lawyers got hold of which included those describing how Alun Davies and the Top Docs were going to fit me up in court. It was on the basis of this that the Angel bagged a research grant from the North West Wales NHS Trust. When I wrote an article for a newspaper about the mental health services, the Angel asked me if I would publish false allegations about the VC of Bangor University in the press. I refused and a few days later the Angel screamed at me that Brown and me were ‘damaging her career’ with our articles about the NHS.

Had Dr Dee Jones aka Dr Dee Gray not hitched her fortunes up to a paedophile gang, she need never have worried about Brown and I publishing the wrongdoing of the NHS. Dr Dee Gray now runs an ‘executive coaching business’, ‘Gray’s Learning’, through which she flogs her ‘expertise’ to the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and others for many thousands of pounds. As Dee has built her entire career upon her knowledge of the crimes of the Top Doctors, perhaps she could give us all the details of the deal which she thrashed out with corrupt NHS personnel and corrupt union reps that resulted in her bagging a massive compensation pay-out from Bangor University after the joint NW Wales NHS Trust-Bangor University project which she ‘led’ went tits up and hundreds of thousands of pounds were wasted and two PhD students did not get PhDs. See post ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’ for more Dr Dee Gray laffs.

As well as hearing about The Teachers during my visit to the cottage near Church Island, the dental nurse’s PhD student boyfriend told me something else as well, which I attributed to homophobia at the time, because I didn’t know that an abuse ring targeting boys was operating in the region. The dental nurse’s boyfriend expressed concern about the Gay Soc at UCNW. UCNW was not a hot bed of leftist politics, the SDP were the dominant force among the English speaking students, although of course many of the Welsh-speaking students were involved with Welsh activism. However, UCNW did have a very active Gay Soc, one of the most active in the UK and it was networked to much UK-wide gay activism. The dental nurse’s boyfriend kept repeating that he didn’t think that Gay Soc should be allowed to appear at the freshers events and tout for business. I was gobsmacked and told him so; this PhD student then said ‘but they’re trying to get the students who aren’t gay interested as well, they’re forcing it on them’.

I didn’t click, even when in my second year I was told repeatedly by other students that Gay Soc were ‘extreme’. It was only toward the end of my third year when a very obviously predatory older man – who was a teacher at St David’s College, Llandudno – joined the UCNW Bird Group and bothered some freshers so badly that they asked to be protected from him when I realised that students at Bangor were being targeted. During those years, a number of people left the Chester branch of CHE because they maintained that it was a front for paedophile activity. I now realise what that PhD student whom I met in my first year was concerned about. Dafydd’s trafficking gang was targeting children/adolescents/vulnerable young people, male and female and the gang was operating within UCNW. See post ‘Just A Language Divide?’.

Two other people who were students at the same time as me at UCNW who probably knew something about the gang even if they didn’t realise it are Julian Oliver and his (now ex) wife Heather. Julian studied zoology and had a very bad experience with Dafydd’s partner in crime Dr D.G.E. Wood just before finals. Julian’s girlfriend, whom he later married, Heather, was doing teacher training at Bangor. Heather was difficult and didn’t get on with other students very well, but she was truly appalled by what she witnessed on her teacher training placements. She was very voluble regarding what she thought were dreadful standards, the qualifying of the most unsuitable students and the neglect of children in one primary school in particular near Colwyn Bay. Dafydd’s gang had a stronghold at Colwyn Bay.

To return to The Teachers. The other person who told me that The Teachers were abusing children was Meleri Tudor, a solicitor in Bangor, who later practised in Caernarfon and then became an employment tribunal judge. Meleri and I discussed The Teachers and their alleged abuse of children on the day that Meleri accompanied me to Chester Court when Gwynedd County Council attempted to have me imprisoned on the basis of the perjury of the Arfon Community Mental Health Team, in July 1990. See post ‘ ‘Some Big Legal Names Enter The Arena’. Meleri confirmed that other people knew that The Teachers were abusing children as well – she told me that ‘people don’t like them much because of the way that they treat their children’.

Yet when Rebecca Teacher and her friend ran away and reported the abuse to Bangor Police Station and Gwynedd County Council, Rebecca and her friend were treated as delinquents – ‘Rebecca was stealing’ – and they were very soon sent back to The Teachers.

Although Rebecca and her stepdad were acquitted of conspiracy to blackmail, I can remember being told by people in Bethesda – which was some two miles away from The Teachers’ farm – that ‘that girl was just after money’. I was even told this by two hippies who had previously told me that The Teachers were ‘bad news’. One of these hippies was friends with a man called Alan Patrick, who had joined The Teachers and left, but refused to give anyone details why. I was simply told that Alan was trying to forget all about ever having been one of them. Alan then ran a shop in Bethesda and shared a flat with Dr Chris Barnes. Chris taught at UCNW and then later at Hillgrove School. I always liked Chris Barnes, he was very jolly and entertaining, but Chris was married to Gwyneth Barnes (see post ‘Pets Win Prizes’) who worked as a cleaner at the Hergest Unit, who must have known how badly the patients there were treated, because some of the cleaners used to tell their friends and families that they couldn’t believe what they were witnessing at the Hergest Unit.

Rebecca received all that publicity while the North Wales Police investigated the possibility of a paedophile ring operating in Cheshire and north Wales but concluded that there wasn’t one; when hundreds of complaints about the abuse of children at the Ty’r Felin children’s home in Bangor were made but no action was taken by the DPP; when Dafydd was popping up constantly on TV as an ‘expert’; when former kids in care and psych patients were dropping like lemmings; when I was prosecuted and convicted of ‘staring at a social worker in Safeways’ – a social worker who had previously illegally detained me and then lied to the police and admitted this in court (see post ‘Some Big Legal Names Enter The Arena’); when I wrote to Michael Mansfield QC regarding what was happening to me at the hands of Gwynedd Social Services, only to receive a one line reply; when Superintendent Gordon Anglesea sued ‘Private Eye’, ‘The Independent On Sunday’ and HTV for libel after they named him as abusing boys in care in north Wales.

No-one defended Rebecca. She was firmly branded a money grubbing liar.

Less than one year after Rebecca’s acquittal, Peter Howarth was jailed for sexually abusing boys at Bryn Estyn. Howarth was a key figure in a massive paedophile ring. Still no-one suggested that perhaps Rebecca might have been telling the truth.

Meleri Tudor, the lawyer who knew that kids at The Teachers were being abused, was the daughter of a Minister of religion. Meleri’s sister had served time in Holloway for Welsh language activism. I’m fairly certain that Meleri’s husband was a lawyer. Meleri at that time worked for Carter, Vincent, Jones, Davies in Bangor and one of the partners was Alwyn Jones, who was my main solicitor. At that time, Alwyn was married to a lawyer who worked for Gwynedd County Council. Alwyn’s wife’s father was a police officer who was a Freemason in Bangor. Meleri was friendly with people who were in the Bangor University Lodge.

On the day that Gwynedd Social Services tried to frame and imprison me at Chester Court in July 1990, the reason why Meleri came to the court with me was that I was warned that I could well go to prison so someone from my solicitor’s practice would definitely be coming with me, but it had to be Meleri because although Alwyn had been handling my case, on the big day he found that he had to be elsewhere, so Meleri, his junior, came to Chester with me, although Alwyn was very worried that he couldn’t be there.

That was the Alwyn who’s wife worked as a lawyer for Gwynedd County Council – who were taking me to Chester Court in order to have me imprisoned. Documents now in my possession demonstrate that Ron Evans, Gwynedd County Council’s lawyer, knew that lies were going to be told about me on oath and indeed Ron had sent a note to the perjurers of Arfon Community Mental Health Team telling them who to meet at Chester before the case, where they would be told what to say and shown their affidavits. Which presumably they had not written and signed themselves as alleged.  Three of the people who gave evidence against me had never met me before. One of them had met me at most, twice. Documents in my possession also show that Ron Evans knew that the Court had been changed, as had the judge, days before the hearing. Ron sent the Arfon perjurers a little hand-written note telling them this and giving them precise details of which Court to go to and how to get there. Meleri knew that the Court and judge had been changed as well. My barrister, Suzanne Evans, didn’t. She went to the wrong court, arrived very late for my case, was all of a fumble and the corrupt judge – for he was indeed corrupt – Justice John Roch, later Lord Justice John Roch, snapped and shouted at her.

Fourteen or fifteen charges against me were thrown out because the Arfon perjurers were demonstrated to have lied on oath. Roch offered to give them extra time to rewrite their statements. Their barrister declined, saying that Gwynedd County Council had already spent a great deal of time and money on this case.

Justice Roch was clearly intimidating Suzanne Evans, but she knew damn well that extensive perjury and conspiracy had been committed. She didn’t utter a word and I never heard from her again after I left the court. For more information on Suzanne Evans, see post ‘Life In Cold Blood’.

No-one ever mentioned the industrial scale perjury and conspiracy after we left Chester Court. I told Meleri that I thought it was very odd that the Court and judge had been changed and my barrister didn’t know. Meleri brushed it off and maintained that it was just a little mistake. Meleri gave me a lift back to Bethesda but I was so stressed that she had to keep stopping the car so I could throw up. She told me that her daughter got car sick as well, but nothing like this!

Bechod!

Alwyn’s crooked lawyer of a wife later left him – she was having an affair with another crooked lawyer who worked for Gwynedd County Council – and Alwyn remarried, to a pharmacist whom he had known at Abersytwyth University. Alwyn’s stepson Sean (it might be spelt differently) Hudson went to school with Laura, the daughter of Ella Fisk, who was the Angel who ran the Day Centre at the Hergest Unit. Ella knew that I and other patients were being fitted up in court by her colleagues. Sean went to Oxford to read law and Laura went to Cambridge and is now a clinical psychologist!

Tony and Sadie Francis’s son Adrian went to the same school as Sean and Laura – Ysgol David Hughes – and Adrian became a lawyer as well! Adrian is now a barrister at Dean’s Court Chambers in Manchester. Adrian’s Linked In profile provides the following info regarding his biography:

Observant readers will have noticed that this son of two of the Top Docs who facilitated the trafficking gang in north Wales/Cheshire has been employed by a number of the County Councils who for years sent kids in care to children’s homes in north Wales where they were abused. Adrian Francis has been employed by some of the most troubled, scandal ridden local authorities in the UK to fight ‘service users’ who have dared to make a claim on those authorities. He has worked for the mental health services in Salford and Manchester – they employed his parents before the Francis’s relocated to north Wales…

I note that Adrian worked for the Wirral Borough Council, 2006-08. The corrupt HR Director at Bangor University, Lyn Meadows, who was busy trying to force me out of my job at the University at that time (see post ‘A Demand From Gwynedd County Council’) had recently been a non-executive Director of an NHS Trust on the Wirral. When in post, Meadows assisted in a fraud with three Top Doctors and was subsequently named in Hansard and on Frank Field’s blog. As well as helping Top Docs defraud the NHS, Meadows also had responsibility for developing mental health care on the Wirral. She therefore participated in yet another scam with dodgy people and it was later found that patients whom had been ‘cared for’ as a result of arrangements organised by Meadows were abused and neglected. When abusing her position in the NHS on the Wirral, Meadows was employed as a senior manager with the Welsh NHS Trust. She was in that post when Tony Francis was still alive and when Sadie Francis was still working at the Hergest Unit. After her retirement, Sadie Francis was a member of the North Wales Community Health Council – the ‘patients voice’. The CHC ignored all serious complaints about the mental health services. Lyn Meadows is now a member of the Betsi Board. Bernie Cuthel, another Board member from the NHS Trust which served the Wirral, also turned up on the Betsi Board a few years ago, after she had been obliged to leave the Wirral NHS in the wake of allegations of serious bullying and misconduct. Bernie is of course a mental health specialist. See post ‘The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’ and ‘Conflicts Of Interest – And Some Very Big Salaries’ for further information about Bernie.

Adrian Francis describes himself as:

‘An experienced lawyer who is a specialist in adult social care law specifically in the law relating to elderly & vulnerable clients, mental incapacity law, mental health law, care home fees, community care challenges, ordinary residence disputes, s117 aftercare funding disputes and all matters that are before the Court of Protection.

With over 10 years post qualification experience as a solicitor prior to qualifying as a barrister having advised local authorities nationwide on all legal matters relating to adult social care law and policy over the last decade.

Advocacy experience before the Magistrates Court, County Court, Mental Health Tribunal (First Tier Tribunal), HM Coroner and Court of Protection having appeared before the Courts nationwide from Newcastle in the North to Bournemouth in the South. A Welsh speaker and member of Grays Inn, The Law Society, Royal Society of Medicine & Court of Protection Practitioners Association (COPPA).’

When Adrian was at school and his parents were abusing us while pretending to be ‘caring’ for us, they used to tell us that Adrian wanted to be a Human Rights lawyer. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Surely a job with Cherie Booth is a must for Adrian now?

Two other rats who knew nuzzing are Sian Williamson and her husband Anton. Sian and Anton were Angels in north Wales for years. Sian worked on the psych wards at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Seiriol and Dwynwen Wards, before the Hergest Unit was built and then in the Hergest Unit. Anton worked as an Angel in Manchester for a while, he was an alcohol specialist. Sian and Anton did not abuse patients themselves but they witnessed their colleagues abusing patients on many occasions. They knew that patients were being unlawfully detained and fitted up in court. I met up with Sian when I was doing my PhD and she told me that conditions at the Hergest Unit were so dangerous that ‘someone is going to get killed’ there. She told me that the senior managers of the NW Wales NHS Trust would not listen to anyone no matter who was warning them that neither patients or staff were safe and that whistleblowers were simply sacked. Sian also told me that the Trust was buying the silence of certain mental health staff by ‘looking after them’. Two of the people whom she named were Bob Ingham and Gareth Phillips, both Angels who had been involved in fitting up patients who had complained. Sian was very unhappy that the Trust hadn’t ‘looked after’ Anton, who had retired early due to a back injury. At the time, Sian was working with the drugs and alcohol team on Anglesey – who were part of Dafydd’s domain, so I expect that Anton will be very well looked after by now. Particularly as I have been told that when Sian found out that I was doing a PhD and was preparing to publish on the abuses of the north Wales mental health services, she rang a few former colleagues who had fled the area before the Waterhouse Inquiry and sent out an alert.

My post ‘A Demand From Gwynedd County Council’ and previous posts discussed Eileen Tilley, the UCU rep at Bangor University, who colluded with Lyn Meadows’s bullying of staff and unlawful practices and who tried to shoulder the blame for Meadows’ and Meadows’ associates wrongdoing onto senior staff who were uninvolved, including the VC. I was told that Tilley wanted to bag a seat on the national executive of the UCU and that this was the basis of her chummy relationship with Meadows.

Today’s ‘Morning Star’ contains a big advert for a TUC fringe meeting on Sept 11, being organised by the ‘Morning Star’, on the subject of ‘How can the Labour Party link be developed from the workplace upwards? One of the speakers is Vicky Knight, the President of the UCU. When Vicky stood for election, her profile on the UCU website was headed by the words Vicky Price – Independent candidate – putting members first’. It was quite clear to me when I worked at Bangor that the UCU was putting the paedophiles’ friends first.

Vicky provided the following biography:

I have more than 25 years’ trade union experience in the public sector: within the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) and UCU as a local, regional and national representative.  I am an elected member of your national negotiating team and sit on your National Executive Committee, Further Education Committee, Equality and Women’s Committees. I have the honour of representing UCU at numerous events, on committees and platforms including; UCU Congress, TUC Congress, TUC Women’s conference, TUC Northwest Regional Conference.  For the last 3 years I have represented UCU on the TUC Women’s Committee where I’m proud to have been elected as Chair for the last 2 years.

I do not know how Vicky ended up as a Fire Brigades Union rep, but the FBU has certainly hosted a few interesting people. Someone with a background as an FBU national official is Ann Jones, Labour AM for the Vale of Clwyd. Ann grew up in Rhyl, was educated in Rhyl and was a Rhyl Town Councillor and a Denbighshire County Councillor. Ann knew all about Dafydd and the gang and knows that the NHS in north Wales is endemically corrupt and is killing people, but Ann isn’t saying a word. Which is why she is still sitting in the Senedd.

I’m puzzled as to why Labour Wimmin have been involved with the FBU. The Fire Brigade until recently was famously macho, the firemen spent their time boozing and reading/watching porn and had ludicrous initiation ceremonies which involved new recruits being stripped and urinated upon. One very effective way which the Fire Brigade used to prevent women joining when they were obliged to stop their unlawful sexual discrimination was to subject the female recruits to the same initiation ceremonies as the male recruits.

Does this look like someone who has taken her fair share of being pissed upon by the lads and spent many enjoyable hours watching porn, downing pints and eating vindaloos?

What has been going on in the FBU?

The ‘Morning Star’ also had a short article reporting the concerns of MIND that ‘poor social housing’ was contributing to the mental ill health of tenants. If only MIND had spoken out about this during the 1990s, when Hergest patients were systematically housed – when they were housed at all that was – in the most ‘hard to let’ housing in the area. After they’d been living in appalling hostels for months, the lucky few would be offered accommodation on the rough end of Maesgeirchan, the housing estate on the outskirts of Bangor, which was also where the Ty’r Felin children’s home was located. One severely ill patient was left to be harassed and threatened by the paedophiles’ friends who ruled the roost on Maesgeirchan and was eventually found dead in his house. He was called Charles Pearce and well-known in Bangor because he was floridly manic, used to call himself the King of Bangor and wear a home-made crown and robes. The mental health services banged him up in Denbigh for a few months, declared him incorrigible, released and then abandoned him. Charles was repeatedly arrested and fined for ludicrous offences, which eventually pushed him into so much debt that he had to sell his properties – he was then fleeced of thousands by the North Wales Housing Association – and after that he could only afford a former council house on Maesgeirchan. Charles subsequently developed a disorder which resulted in him pulling flesh off himself. He was seen out and about with visible injuries and was later found dead in his house, having disembowelled himself. See post ‘R.I.P. The Previous King Of Wales’. Charles Pearce died slowly and painfully in full view of the whole of Bangor.

The other favourite location for housing Hergest patients was on the Morawelon estate at Holyhead. One part of Morawelon was so bad that absolutely no-one would live there. A homeless hostel opened on Morawelon and was managed by a young woman who did know what she was doing. Sadly some bigoted corrupt old farts of Holyhead Councillors constantly undermined her, sabotaged her work, forced her to employ inappropriate people – ie. their friends – the scheme fell apart and the hostel subsequently turned into a crack house. Hergest patients were housed nearby. They were harassed, threatened and occasionally beaten up. MIND knew all about it, because Holyhead MIND ran a much boasted about  centre for service users, The Priory. Dr Mike Jackson, a clinical psychologist who worked at Bangor University and for the mental health services, was instrumental in establishing the flagship which was The Priory. A leading light in The Priory was Sue Sayer, who later was given a paid job as an advocate at the Hergest Unit. Patients were abused and assaulted by staff, fitted up in Court and were found dead regularly. Sue Sayer was told about the sexual abuse and trafficking of patients in a chain of private ‘nursing homes’, Prestwood (see post ‘A Convenient Arrangement With The Private Sector’).

MIND did not say a word about any of this to anyone, although they did ask me if I would provide free maths lessons for Prestwood residents. I of course said no, not wishing to be a source of free labour for a people trafficking organisation. I was told that if I didn’t agree to provide free maths lessons for Prestwood clients, I would not be allowed to provide free maths lessons for the other service users at The Priory, which is what I had offered. So MIND prevented service users from accessing free maths tuition, which the service users had told me that they really wanted.

When Mike Jackson and his wife Sonia heard that my lawyer had finally obtained my highly incriminating medical records, Sonia shrieked at me ‘I hope that you’re not going to mention Mike’s name’ and a few days later Mike told me ‘I know you suffered but I hope you never win a case against the Trust because it’ll cost them nearly a million and that should be spent on my patients’.

Well Mike, I never received a penny from the dear old Trust, I and witnesses were simply threatened – including with guns – until I left Wales. But I don’t think that the million which was saved was spent on your patients was it – they’re still destitute and dying…

The extraordinary in-fighting in the Labour Party continues. Jeremy Corbyn has now subscribed to the precise definition of anti-semitism which Margaret Hodge demanded after she engaged lawyers to the Royals Mishcon de Reya because Jezza hurt her feelings, but Dame Madge is still not happy, because Jezza added a clause allowing people to have sympathies for the Palestinians should they wish. Dame Madge was given the prime time 8-10 am slot on the ‘Today’ programme this morning to tell the world that Jezza has ‘sullied’ the definition of anti-semitism by adding this outrageous clause. Dame Madge did quite a bit of sullying herself when she led Islington Borough Council and ignored the paedophile gang operating in its children’s homes, who murdered witnesses. Then the Dame did a bit more sullying when she was MP for Barking and ignored the fact that the local hospital was killing maternity patients at quite an impressive rate.

After Dame Madge had told the world how disgusting Jezza is now that he has added a conscience clause to the definition demanded by the Dame, the Dame and Baroness Shami Chakrabarti held a debate about Jezza and the definition. All I could think when I listened to the Dame and the Baroness discussing how much ‘hurt’ Jezza has caused by being too slow to adopt the right definition and then adding the conscience clause when he did adopt the right definition is that throughout this summer, some kids’ parents were too poor to provide lunches for them; some school girls are receiving free sanitary products because they cannot afford to buy them; the numbers of homeless are rising; disabled people and people on universal credit are becoming destitute because of changes to their benefits; most social service depts in the UK are under police investigation for grooming and people trafficking offences; social care for the elderly is virtually unavailable; and the mental health services have collapsed. And of course millions of people who aren’t actually in dire difficulties are still working long and hard to keep body and soul together.

Margaret Hodge’s immediate family, the Oppenheimers, moved to London after the Arab-Israeli war of 1948, concerned that anti-semitism had increased in the Middle East and started their family-owned steel-trading corporation, Stemcor. It is one of the world’s largest privately held steel companies, with an annual turnover of over £6 billion in 2011. Hodge is a major shareholder. Stemcor was run by her brother, Ralph, until September 2013.

Madge looks like she’s having a pretty good time, despite Jezza sullying things:

Why would anyone ever vote Labour when she is allowed to conduct herself like this?

By the way Madge, Lady Shami was quite correct this morning when she told you that much of what you claim to be anti-semitic is open to debate, even among Jewish people. One of my friends married a Jewish Canadian and this Jewish Canadian used to tell me that he didn’t like visiting Golders Green because he found many of the people there rather difficult. I asked why and he said ‘there’s a lot of Israelis there, I don’t really like them that much, they tend to be a bit arrogant’. He is as Jewish as you are Madge, when I went to visit him and his family, I would watch him carrying out every appropriate ritual. They aren’t Orthodox, but he is Jewish. Neither does he own a steel company with an annual turnover of £6 billion and he’s never colluded with a paedophile gang.

The think tank established by the Windbag which has served as a job creation scheme for the offspring of Labour big wigs, the IPPR, has produced a report with ideas to transform the UK economy. The IPPR haven’t really transformed anything so far and they weren’t even bothering to acknowledge applications from people who responded to their adverts for policy specialists a few years ago – I did notice IPPR, I had absolutely everything on my CV that you wanted and much more, but whoops my mum isn’t Harriet and my dad wasn’t Ralph! – so I doubt that their ideas for transforming the economy will be very exciting. Two people were invited to discuss the IPPR report on the radio – Lord Bob Kerslake and Kate Andrews. Lord Bob Kerslake is the former Head of the Civil Service and was also the Biggest Wig in the NHS at one point, so there’s a sound track record there. Kate Andrews is a rather irritating right wing American who works for the Institute of Economic Affairs who arrived in the UK a few years ago and has been doing the rounds ever since, telling us all how crap we are, how crap our country is and how we need to take a leaf out of the book of the US. Er, OK…

Donald Trump

In that case Kate, I want Stormy Daniels over here as well.

The Top Docs continue to discover a life-saving miracle on a daily basis. Today it was childhood leukaemia. Which is a little confusing because the big advances were made with childhood leukaemia many years ago, when it was discovered that a combination of vincristin and methotrexate did produce very, very good results. Childhood leukaemia was no longer a death sentence as a result.

Brave Babs Windsor has had a pacemaker fitted after her Alzheimers meds caused her to collapse, or at least according to ‘The Sun’ that is what has happened. Which suggests that Babs is doing rather better out of the Top Docs than most other people are, when one considers the usual dire ‘care’ to which Alzheimers’ patients are subjected.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) are fuming because they have discovered that most people on the whole planet are not taking the required amount of exercise, as demanded by WHO. Uganda was mentioned as a particularly lamentable example. Call me naive, but I suspect that many people in Uganda probably have rather more pressing concerns than ensuring that they follow the WHO guidelines for daily exercise. For a start if they are gay, they’ll be terrified because should they be accused/caught they may well be executed.

The UK Cabinet are also concerned with First World Problems, they have agreed that every restaurant, cafe and other eating place should display the calorie content of the meals on offer on their menus, although there has been concern expressed regarding the cost of doing this for small businesses. The Cabinet are doing this because the scourge of obesity shows no signs of abating. Which suggests that the general public are not taking a blind bit of notice of ‘public education’ messages, so they’re not going to take any notice of calories printed on menus. Well Theresa May will, as will Chris Bryant, Jane Hutt, Julie Morgan and Stephen Kinnock, but they’ll probably be worrying about the calories before they choose anyway. Somehow I do not think that I’ll be witnessing the labourers with builders bums studying those calories when they order their fry-ups in the morning before starting work. Not that the Cabinet will realise that, most of them not having worked as hod carriers.

I look forward to hearing what lethal condition the Top Docs will announce that they have cured next, now that I have exposed Adrian Francis! I’ve had my eye on Adrian for a few years now, wondering if he was going to do the decent thing and resign as a lawyer after his father killed himself and then after I started this blog… No, Adrian’s going from strength to strength like the rest of them.

More names coming soon Top Docs…

A Demand From Gwynedd County Council

I have received a letter from Mr E.B. Jones, Taxation Manager, Gwynedd County Council, telling me that a liability order has been granted against me, requesting £132-31 and telling me that if I don’t cough up, they will transfer the order to bailiffs, which will mean further significant costs for me, precisely: Compliance Stage £75; Enforcement Stage: £235 Sale Stage: £110 and that if the case is referred to bailiffs the Council will not intervene further.

The letter tells me that the liability order was granted on 3/11/2011 and refers to ‘outstanding council tax’ from when I lived at a property near Garndolbenmaen.

This letter refers to a liability order which Gwynedd County Council have already transferred to bailiffs – some six years ago. Although I had paid the council tax concerned. Furthermore, Gwynedd County Council didn’t tell me that they were taking me to court for non-payment of council tax. I simply received aggressive threatening letters telling me to pay the council tax which I had already paid, including further costs, because I’d been taken to court. And now Gwynedd County Council have repeated the whole sorry saga.

Gwynedd County Council were certainly very busy at the time. I received five parking tickets in Caernarfon in the space of about four weeks, although my car was breaching the rules on only one occasion. I had also received a letter demanding that I repay more than £130 in housing benefit. I had not claimed housing benefit.

These events occurred after a man who made a witness statement detailing the harassment and threats that he had seen me subjected to by the mental health services, including the Arfon Community Mental Health Team (most of whom were social workers employed by Gwynedd County Council), received a visit at home from Dyfed Edwards, the then leader of Gwynedd County Council, who told him ‘you won’t win this and when you lose your life won’t be worth living’. The man who made the witness statement later received a visit from ‘traffic police’ who, once inside his house, produced guns. He subsequently withdrew his statement which I think is what Dyfed Edwards wanted.

Why did I leave the house where I was living in Garndolbenmaen? For a number of reasons including: three break-ins to my car while it was parked on the drive (the house was halfway up a remote hill with no neighbours); a man trying to get into my house late one night who was seen off by my dog; an attempt to run me off the road twice in the same day by the same car as I was leaving my house and then again on the way to a friend’s who lived near my house; obstacles left at the end of my drive, which if I had left the house at my normal time that day (very early in the morning when it was still dark because it was winter) would have caused me to drive straight into them and crash.

Then there was the bailiff who turned up when I lived at my next address telling me that I owed money when I’m fairly sure that I did not, who threatened my landlady who was at home alone that day; the bailiff who turned up at another address going under the obviously false name of Mr Jones, an enormous ginger scouser covered in gold bling reeking of aftershave, who told me that I owed Gwynedd County Council money when I did not.

I was not the only person having such experiences. Gwynedd County Council sent bailiffs after a friend of mine, maintaining that he hadn’t paid his council tax when he had; Mr Jones also paid a visit to a single mother in Llanberis, demanding goods after Gwynedd County Council maintained that she hadn’t paid her council tax. Mr Jones threatened her, removed her microwave and told her that he’d be returning. She was terrified and left the house. Both of these people had complained about the Arfon Community Mental Health Team.

At the time that Mr Jones was busy in Gwynedd, a young woman in Deiniolen was found dead in her house, accompanied by a suicide note saying that she was in debt and was being threatened by bailiffs. I didn’t know her so I don’t know whether Gwynedd County Council and Mr Jones were involved.

The AM for Arfon at the time was Alun Ffred Jones, who was the former leader of Gwynedd County Council. Alun Ffred’s brother, Dafydd Iwan, had also led Gwynedd County Council. Dafydd Iwan doubles up as a folk singer who wrote a ‘tribute song’ to Dr Dafydd Alun Jones.

Dafydd Iwan’s son Llion worked at Bangor University when I did and was being targeted and bullied by his boss, an appalling woman who was Head of the School of Creative Industries, Stephanie Marriott (see previous posts). There was only one person who defended Llion from Marriott’s shocking behaviour – a Jewish lecturer who was a friend of mine. So Marriott went after the Jewish lecturer and then me. The Jewish lecturer was told by Marriott that I was ‘bullying’ her – this was after I sent an e mail to Marriott defending myself from her constant aggro. She asked him to abuse his position as a UCU rep and make a statement about my ‘bullying’ in her ‘defence’. He fell about laughing and told Marriott that he hardly thought that a Head of Dept could be ‘bullied’ by a post-doc on a short term contract.

The Head of HR, Lyn Meadows, received a visit from Marriott. Meadows rang the Jewish lecturer and told him that she ‘couldn’t be seen to be bullying Sally because she has mental health problems’ but they wanted a statement from him. The Jewish lecturer put the phone down in disgust and told me immediately what was going on. Marriott’s husband was also a UCU rep. Meadows then harassed me and my boss by e mail for the next four weeks, demanding that I meet her because she needed to discuss ‘my behaviour’. In the end I sought the advice of a bullying and harassment officer. I was also told by a third party that Meadows – who had previously been a senior manager in the Welsh Ambulance Trust – had got together with Marriott and those we know and love in the NHS to frame me and get me out of the University. Days later I received another communication from Meadows, telling me that a member of staff from yet another Dept had made a statement claiming that I had bullied and terrorised her. I produced evidence which demonstrated that this woman was lying. She was later found crying and admitted to a colleague that she had lied about me, because ‘Lyn told me to do it’. Lyn Meadows is now a member of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

While all this was going on, Alun Ffred told a third party known to me that he would ‘take Marriott out’ for bullying his nephew Llion and was going to ‘get revenge’ on Bangor University. Did Alun Ffred take Marriott out? Er, no. Marriott was needed because Lyn Meadows and Alun Ffred’s friends in the NHS and Gwynedd County Council wanted to use her to try and get me the sack. Alun Ffred instead launched a broadside attack on Bangor University as a whole, in particular trying to throw a spanner in the works of the big new arts centre that the VC had succeeded in getting the funding for. That’s the VC who’s wife had not long before died at the hands of the paedophiles’ friends at the Walton Centre (see comments after my post ‘Rivers Of Blood’).

Did Llion Iwan ever defend the Jewish lecturer who was also being targeted by Marriott and Meadows? No. Llion was delighted to have the support of the Jewish lecturer when he needed it, but soon he didn’t need it any longer because Llion landed a plum job with S4C. The S4C that his Uncle Alun Ffred had previously worked for and which also had such a close relationship with his dad.

Marriott stayed working at Bangor University for many more years.

Alun Ffred was also happy to use people whom he knew were being targeted by his own associates. There was a man called Len who worked at Bangor University who was a Plaid Councillor. I’m not sure what Len did, but he wasn’t an academic member of staff. I had no problem with Len, he was always very friendly towards me. Len knew that I had been taken an interest in the number of mediocre or frankly abusive ‘care homes’ which were springing up in Gwynedd – I was told that Dr Dafydd Alun Jones had links to some of them. Len told me that ‘Alun Ffred is very worried about it as well’ and that Alun Ffred had asked Len to ask me what I knew about the homes. So I told Len that I knew in at least one of the homes, young female residents were being violently assaulted and made to watch porn as ‘therapy’ and that on at least one occasion, a sex worker from Llandudno had been employed to provide ‘services’ for at least one resident in another home. I heard no more from Len or Alun Ffred, but I never saw any sign that Alun Ffred did anything at all about those homes. Although I bet he told the relevant people that I knew what was going on inside of them. Whether Len was part of the collusion I do not know. Len may have been yet another person ruthlessly used by ‘the Royal Family of Gwynedd’ as I was told that Dafydd Iwan and Alun Ffred liked to think of themselves.

As all good Royals are, Alun Ffred was a law unto himself. At one election, a friend of mine saw Alun Ffred inside the polling booth on the day of the election, which my friend maintained was unlawful. After all, the electorate mustn’t be pressurised or intimidated…

I don’t know the full extent of Alun Ffred’s wrongdoing obviously, but I saw someone give him a public bollocking for ‘getting Wales a bad name’ on one occasion. It was Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas. I and a friend had gone to an event at Caernarfon in which Dafydd El was being interviewed about his life in politics and just as Dafydd El took his seat, Alun Ffred emerged from a seat behind my friend and I and started shouting at Dafydd El in Welsh. My Welsh wasn’t good enough to understand what was being said, but my friend with me was first-language Welsh and said that Alun Ffred was being highly offensive. After his ranting Alun Ffred walked out of the door, so presumably he hadn’t come to hear the interview. At the time Dafydd El was Chancellor of Bangor University.

Alun Ffred was not the only person busying himself with being angry with the VC of Bangor University for having the temerity to raise enough dosh for the arts centre. There was a whole contingent of paedophiles’ friends who were trying to force the VC out of the University and they were having secret meetings with the previous VC, a well-camouflaged paedophiles’ friend himself, Professor Eric Sunderland (see previous posts), who was still alive at the time…

The main rep for the UCU at Bangor University, Eileen Tilley, who had a particularly chummy relationship with Lyn Meadows (see previous posts) was also happy to put the boot into the VC by being less than honest. I only ever went to one UCU meeting at Bangor, which was a meeting called by Tilley, to discuss restructuring at the University. The VC was due to attend to answer questions, but several days beforehand he told the UCU reps that he had to cancel. One of the UCU reps told me about the cancellation days before the meeting. So imagine my surprise when I turned up to the meeting to find a smug grinning Tilley greet the audience with the opening comment: ‘Merfyn Jones has not got the guts to come and face you all today, he backed out just before the meeting’. I e mailed Tilley later that day, asked her why she had chosen to lie to the meeting, challenged her about her inappropriate friendship with an unscrupulous, dishonest HR Director and then resigned from UCU.

There was another meeting as well at which the non-appearance of the VC caused a stir. An academic seminar had been organised and the VC was invited to make an opening address. When we all arrived I noticed the presence of someone who had recently written a letter to the local paper complaining about the VC’s salary. I was aware of this person’s presence on the planet because as well as having a part-time job in the University, she was a Service User. She was one of the many Service Users who’s letters on a whole range of subjects appeared in the local press – and in ‘The Guardian’ on one occasion as well – but she never uttered a word about the abuse of patients or the activities of the paedophile gang. The VC’s salary was what concerned her. She was sitting with another Champion Of The Oppressed, Wulf Livingstone, a social work lecturer. Wulf too, despite Championing the Oppressed, somehow never raised any concerns about Dafydd and the trafficking gang. But then Wulf used to work for Dafydd’s charity CAIS. Wulf went on to greater things after CAIS, he worked for the North Wales Probation Service. Some of the staff of the North Wales Probation Service abused kids in care in north Wales. Wulf then became a social work lecturer at Bangor and after that was welcomed as a senior lecturer in social work by that bastion of paedophiles’ friends at Glyndwr University.

I heard Wulf and the Service User discussing their plans to give the Fat Cat of a VC a very hard time when he arrived at the seminar, because he had Questions To Answer. Unfortunately, the VC sent his apologies for his non-appearance. Not got the guts to appear? Er no, sadly dear old camouflage had recently pegged out and the VC had to attend Eric Sunderland’s funeral.

Oh the irony!

Save Our Sausages, a VC has arrived who’s not in the pockets of a paedophile gang, we need to get rid of him and fast…

Dafydd Iwan prides himself on being all international with his activism. Dafydd Iwan, along with his guitar, has visited a number of countries containing people having a hard time to express solidarity with the Oppressed.

The Jewish lecturer, after doing everything that he could to defend Llion Iwan, was left to the excesses of Marriot once Llion bagged his job at S4C. Then people started threatening me and a witness to the wrongdoing with guns.

Yma O Hyd!

Pass us the Bara Brith. I’ll push the boat out and have a Welsh Cake as well.

Readers unfamiliar with the Royal Family of Gwynedd will not know that they famously grew up in the village of Llanuwchllyn, near Bala, where their father ruled the roost as a result of his association with the Bala Theological College. Llanuwchllyn is famous as the birth place of Sir Owen Morgan Edwards, the Welsh historian, educationalist and writer. O.M. Edwards was very briefly the Liberal MP for Merionethshire. In 1907 Edwards was appointed as the first Chief Inspector of Schools for Wales. Another well-known Schools Inspector for Wales was J.E. Daniel, who also held a post at Bala Theological College. J.E. Daniel was President of Plaid in its early days, when Saunders Lewis was a big name in Plaid. Dr Dafydd Alun Jones was a met of Saunders Lewis when Dafydd was a young man. J.E. Daniel was the father of the corrupt judge Huw Daniel, who was involved in the attempt by the Hergest Unit staff to frame and imprison me when I was a PhD student at Bangor University (see previous posts).

Just as one enters Llanuwchllyn, there is a statue of O.M. Edwards and his son, Ifan ab Owen Edwards, who founded Urdd Gobaith Cymru (the Welsh League of Youth).

Owen Morgan Edwards

I always imagined that those two members of Gwynedd’s Royal Family, Alun Ffred and Dafydd Iwan, expect a statue of themselves to one day join the statue of O.M. and Ifan. Presumably to commemorate their considerable contribution to Getting Wales A Bad Name.

Today We Have Naming Of Parts

My post ‘Include Me Out’ detailed some facts and figures relating to the inmates of Risley Remand Centre from 1968 onward and other related information which I suggest made it so obvious that so many victims of Dafydd and the paedophiles were ending up there via unlawful processes that it was a nonsense for people to have claimed that they ‘didn’t know’ that a major sex trafficking ring was operating in north Wales through the mental health services and the children’s homes. I named some of the politicians, lawyers, Prison Service staff and others who must have known what was happening.

In this post I will provide details of a few on the ground in north Wales who not only knew but played key roles in the supply chain.

My post ‘That’s Entertainment’ described how in the 1980s, victims of Dafydd et al were given summer jobs at Penrhyn Castle, under the supervision of Wing Commander I.H. Panton. Wing Commander Panton was remembered fondly by Dafydd’s targets, but those dispossessed people had not clicked that that the Wing Commander knew what had happened to them but did nothing to help them. The Wing Commander regularly heard first hand accounts of beatings and suicides/murders in Risley Remand Centre, he knew that some of his employees had been abused sexually by those paid to care for them and that some of them in turn were behaving in a highly sexualised way themselves. The Wing Commander had a great deal of knowledge about Dafydd’s activities and the abuses at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh. Wing Commander Panton was so keen to help the victims of Dafydd and the paedophile gang that he employed them in casual low paid jobs every summer season. He joined in the work parties, he chatted to them and he knew exactly who remembered what and who was naming who.

Wing Commander Panton left north Wales years ago. He told his charges at Penrhyn Castle that he was moving to the west country to ‘write children’s books’, although a google search does not reveal that he either moved to the west country or wrote children’s books.

Penrhyn Castle was given to the National Trust in 1951, so it had been in their hands for decades by the time that Wing Commander Panton opened his arms to the victims of Dafydd et al.

I received an e mail from someone the other day telling me that Lucille Hughes was working for the National Trust at Penrhyn Castle. Lucille ‘retired’ from Gwynedd County Council immediately that the Waterhouse Report was published. Even Ronnie Waterhouse had to admit that Lucille, whilst she was Director of Gwynedd Social Services, knew that a paedophile gang was operating in the children’s homes that she was responsible for but she had not acted. My correspondent – like so many others – expressed astonishment that Lucille continues with her charity work at CAIS, with the CAB, with the Soroptomists and that her grubby fingers are also in the National Trust pie (or should that be PIE?) at Penrhyn Castle.

I know of another victim of Dafydd and the paedophiles who volunteered at Plas Newydd. Like those working at Penrhyn Castle – who in the 1980s weren’t volunteers but were employed on Thatcher’s ‘job creation’ schemes so were paid a benefit level wage – she was friendly and chatty and anyone spending any length of time with her could not have failed to notice that she was not being cared for in the way that the ‘services’ should have caring for her, even if they did not believe her stories of frankly abusive experiences (some at least of which I knew to be true).

The President of the National Trust is Prince Charles. One of the many people to whom Alison Taylor wrote in the 1980s regarding her concerns that there was widespread, serious abuse of children in care happening in north Wales was Prince Charles. I am told that ‘his office’ replied, stating that he really couldn’t get involved in this matter.

The Duke of Westminster, Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor – Prince Charles’s friend and the father of the Princess of Wales’s goddaughter and also the father of one of Prince George’s godparents –  was President of the City of Chester Conservative Association whilst Sir Peter Morrison was the constituency MP. Morrison was abusing children in care in north Wales as well as at other locations. Morrison’s conduct was openly gossiped about by constituents and other politicians. Boys from Bryn Estyn were taken to Grosvenor’s estate for ‘work opportunities’ and would refuse to return there but didn’t explain why. Gerald Grosvenor was the lucky man who purchased the former St George’s Hospital building at Hyde Park Corner for £6ooo from the Tory Gov’t – the building was worth millions (see post ‘The White Heat Of This Revolution’). Staff at George’s Hospital Medical School were concealing the criminality of Dafydd et al in north Wales, as well as a linked paedophile gang in south London, of which their Professor of Paediatrics Oliver Brooke was a member. Staff at St George’s had personal links to Dafydd and Lucille.

As for Plas Newydd, that is the seat of the Marquesses of Anglesey and is also in the hands of the National Trust. The family have strong links to the Tory Party and the Anglesey Conservative Association. The Anglesey Conservative Association were very fond of Anne Widdecombe, begged her to be their Tory candidate and retained links with her although she jumped ship and tried her luck with another constituency. Before Doris Karloff became an MP, she worked as a senior administrator for the University of London. Doris was responsible for driving through the highly unpopular merger of Guy’s and Tommy’s. Despite being given such an onerous responsibility, Doris was allowed substantial time off work – whilst still being paid – and was given the use of a member of London University admin staff to help her campaign for election. London University also covertly supported Doris in her political project with Lady Olga Maitland, ‘Women and Families for Defence’ which the Tory Gov’t mounted in 1983 as a response to the growing support for CND. Details of all this can be read in my post ‘Doris Karloff – Honest About Her Expenses But Not Much Else’.

The University of London not only used their resources to covertly support a Tory Party pressure group, but they were helping Doris achieve her political ambitions it would seem before Thatcher’s election victory in 1979. The VCs of London University who presided over all this were Lords Noel Annan and Randolph Quirk.

Noel Annan had a background in the security services – he had the distinction of joining Churchill in the bunker during WWII – and furthermore had been a member of the Cambridge Apostles when he was at university, along with Guy Burgess and Michael Straight, who were members of the Cambridge spy ring. Annan Chaired the Annan Committee – the Royal Commission on Broadcasting – which numbered a few other paedophiles’ friends as members. For more details on Noel Annan and the Annan Committee, see post ‘Radical Leicester And Some Other Free Radicals’.

Randolph Quirk was a ‘supporter of the Labour Party’ – despite leading an institution which secretly allowed Anne Widdecombe to do Thatcher’s Gov’t a favour in mounting opposition to CND – who sat as a cross-bencher when he received a peerage. Quirk was a linguist who worked with David Crystal. David Crystal is a linguist who spent his career at UCL, but has an honorary Chair at Bangor University. Crystal grew up in Holyhead and Liverpool and now lives in Holyhead once more.

In the 1980s there was a problem in the Dept of Linguistics in UCNW (Bangor University). It went under the name of Professor Andrew Radford. Radford was appointed in 1980 and when I arrived at UCNW in 1981, a lot of people were already complaining bitterly about Radford. He was, essentially, a wally. Radford’s notions of getting down with the kids were rather patronising to students with a brain, but the more gullible students thought that he was great. He had disco lights and pictures of Debbie Harry in his office and joined students on pub crawls and crashed their parties. So far so lame. But Radford was also shagging students on a grand scale. Better than that, after a few years, other staff noticed a strong correlation between the linguistics students who were getting Firsts and the students who had shagged Radford. Neither was the correlation based on speculation – I know one now retired lecturer from Bangor who said that Radford was so ruthlessly exploitative that he boasted of his encounters and supplied details to his colleagues. Radford did eventually depart from UCNW – under a huge cloud – but not until 1989, when he returned to his old home of the University of Essex.

I knew a linguistics student who didn’t shag Radford, but who was very, very distressed by what he was doing. I don’t know whether he had tried it on with her, or whether she just found his activities too unsavoury to cope with, but towards the end of her first year she had a breakdown. She asked for help at the Student Health Centre and was referred to Gwynne the lobotomist. Gwynne told her that she had a personality disorder and that he ‘could do nothing for her’. Within two days she attempted suicide. She ended up in the North Wales Hospital. No, she didn’t get Dafydd – for once he was kept well out of the way because this young woman’s mum was a nurse from Shrewsbury who hit the roof when she found out what had gone on and made a formal complaint about Gwynne.

After the disaster with Gwynne, this student was referred to a nice young doctor who had just arrived in north Wales – Tony Francis. Francis did what he did in so many other cases – he did an excellent impersonation of a caring competent man, apologised to the student and her mum and assured them that Gwynne had been dealt with and that no other student would ever have this experience. Gwynne remained in the Student Health Centre and some eighteen months later I encountered him… As did at least two students who attempted suicide within days of meeting him.

When the student of Radford’s returned to UNCW, she told everyone that she would not return to the Linguistics Dept. Radford wrote to Tony Francis and told him that there was no reason why she should not continue on the linguistics course. The student’s mum told Francis that she was not going near Andrew Radford again. Francis was the hero of the hour – or so it seemed – and told the student and her mother that he had sorted it with the university authorities for the student to transfer to a joint honours in Italian and Latin. Which is what happened.

The young woman then found it very difficult to access services at the Student Health Centre. Dr D.G.E. Wood told a third party that she was ‘wet’ and Francis told a third party that she was ‘weak’. Francis’s assessment of the fragility of this student was interesting in the light of his decision a few weeks later to discharge her from his clinic with no aftercare, in the wake of her telling him and a number of other people that she was feeling suicidal.

I knew this student well and we remained in contact after graduation. She did graduate despite being refused healthcare and she then went to Manchester to do an MA. Her problems continued and she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She made a number of serious suicide attempts and after each one returned to the family home where she was cared for by her mum and her sisters, although she continued to live in Manchester.

I met up with her last in about 2000. She had recently made a suicide attempt so serious that it was very nearly successful. She had been prescribed huge quantities of anti-depressants which are lethal in overdose, after telling her Top Doctor that she felt suicidal. She took an overdose, was in a coma for three days and ended up with kidney damage. Her mum accompanied her to the psychiatrist after she recovered and expressed her concerns that if her daughter was prescribed the same toxic-in-overdose medication again, the next suicide attempt would work. The former UCNW student was prescribed the same medication again.

She was taking that medication when I met up with her. She told me that the mental health services in Manchester were terrible, that she was simply being given repeat prescriptions with appointments at lengthy intervals and that it was nearly impossible to see a Top Doctor anyway. She had recently been to Australia to visit her sister who had emigrated there and had been given a massive quantity of another ‘medication’ to ‘calm her down’ for the flight. She collapsed at an airport in the Far East whilst changing planes and other passengers assisted her. The Top Doctor had prescribed her a massive dose of haloperidol just before the flight, so it was entirely predictable that she would collapse on her way over to Australia.

That was the last time that I saw my former college mate. She committed suicide a few years ago.

I don’t think that she or her mum knew that the lethal bastards who were neglecting her so badly in Manchester were the former colleagues of Tony Francis, whom he had worked with immediately prior to his move to north Wales (see posts ‘A Stalker’s Network’ and ‘Ian Brockington’s Mischief’). They had been ‘trained’ by Dafydd’s old mate Dr Bob Hobson and were facilitating and concealing the crimes of Dafydd et al in north Wales (see post ‘The Mentor’).

So that was another witness to the clinical skills of Gwynne dealt with.

Professor David Crystal’s mate Randolph Quirk was succeeded as VC of London University by Lord Brian Flowers, who concealed as much – if not even more – crap than Annan and Quirk did. Flowers came from Swansea and was the man who presided over wrongdoing and crime at Imperial College before he was let loose on the University of London as a whole (see post ‘The White Heat Of This Revolution’). There was an elderly academic who died a few years ago who was involved with Bangor University – particularly fundraising – who when he was younger had been a Professor and I think a senior manager at Imperial College. He seemed such a lovely old boy, but he was probably a paedophiles’ friend, the urge to toady to serious criminals just seems to be far too much for a lot of people to resist.

Professor David Crystal has advised on the original pronunciation of a number of Shakespeare productions, including ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. Which of course featured a character called Bottom. In his essay ‘Preposterous Pleasures: Queer Theories and A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ Douglas E. Green explores possible interpretations of alternative sexuality that he finds within the text of the play, in juxtaposition to the proscribed social mores of the culture at the time the play was written. He writes that his essay ‘does not (seek to) rewrite A Midsummer Night’s Dream as a gay play but rather explores some of its ‘homoerotic significations’ … moments of ‘queer’ disruption and eruption in this Shakespearean comedy.’

Get your head around that Dafydd.

‘Titania adoring the Ass-headed Bottom’. Oil on canvas by Henry Fuseli, c. 1790.

David Crystal was influential in a campaign which resulted in the creation of the Ucheldre Centre at Holyhead. I don’t know who is on the governing body of the Ucheldre Centre – although I could have a good guess – but it describes itself as a ‘community arts venue’ (the premier one no less) in north Wales. In reality, the Ucheldre Centre is a magnet for the Mafia of Drips and provides a venue for things such as International Wimmin’s Day celebrations and Service Users Empowerment activities. It has hosted exhibitions of art work by Michael Mansfield’s mate Kyffin Williams and has won a Prince of Wales Award. The Ucheldre Centre was formerly a convent and I suspect that it saw rather more meaningful action when the Sisters occupied the building, because some of them did some quite exciting things, as a result of the convent belonging to a French Order with links to the southern hemisphere. As opposed to links with Jane Hutt or MIND.

To return to the National Trust, who employed so many of those victims of Dafydd and Gwynne who didn’t get as far as UCNW. Whilst Wing Commander Panton was keeping a lid on it all down at Penrhyn Castle, the DG of the NT was Sir Jack Boles.

Sir Jack Boles was DG of the NT, 1975-83. So it will have been Jack who established the arrangement for Dafydd’s victims to arrive en masse at Penrhyn Castle every summer. It will really have been Jack as well – he was a very hands-on (so to speak) DG, he visited the regions regularly and he was also responsible for a big PR offensive for the NT. It was while Sir Jack was DG that the NT acquired a number of very valuable properties, including Erddig, the country house near Wrexham.

Sir Jack’s father had been in the Royal Navy until the early 1940s when for some unspecified reason he ‘was allowed to retire’. Sir Jack’s dad was in the Royal Navy at the same time as Lord Mountbatten, Admiral Sir Alec Bingley and others who knew a lot about the organised abuse of children and other naughtiness in high places (see post ‘The Defence Of The Realm’).

Sir Jack served in the British Army, including in North Borneo and then joined the Colonial Service. He was the Secretary to the last British Governor of Malaysia, Sir William Goode. Sir Jack could not have done the jobs that he did throughout those years without working with the security services.

Sir Jack’s son is the Tory MP for Grantham and Stamford, Nick Boles. Before he became an MP, Nick Boles was a member of the disgrace that was Westminster City Council, which did many unlawful and gerrymandering things when Shirley Porter the Tesco heiress was leader. Shirley escaped justice for a very long time, but eventually she was fined a huge quantity of money. Instead of paying the fine, Shirley went to live in Israel and returned to the UK some years later when it seemed she felt confident that she wasn’t going to end up behind bars. Comments from a reader of this blog left in response to my post ‘The White Heat Of This Revolution’ suggest that Shirley had information about the Westminster Paedophile Ring, which was how she got away with so much for so long.

In 2002 Nick Boles was the founder of the think tank Policy Exchange and remained its Director until 2007. Policy Exchange has provided a home for a number of paedophiles’ friends with a penchant for right wing politics (see post ‘Disgusting Of Tunbridge Wells And A Few Equally Disgusting Others’).

Nick Boles is gay.

Sir Jack’s second wife was Anne, daughter of the 12th Earl Waldegrave. The 12th Earl – Geoffrey Waldegrave – had strong links to the west country. He became a member of Somerset County Council in 1937 and later worked as a MAFF official with responsibilities in Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. He was President of the Somerset Trust for Nature Conservation, 1964-80. It is likely that Geoffrey Waldegrave had links with some of those in Somerset who were involved with concealing the wrongdoing of Dafydd et al as detailed in my post ‘Include Me Out’. He was a member of the BBC Advisory Council, 1963-66 and he was a Director of Lloyds Bank, 1964-76. Lloyd Tyrell-Kenyon, the paedophiles’ friend from north Wales who had numerous links to Dafydd and who’s son Thomas was sexually abusing boys in care in north Wales with the knowledge of the Social Services, police and magistrates but was never prosecuted and later died of an HIV related condition, was a Director of Lloyd’s Bank. Lloyd Tyrell-Kenyon was also a magistrate, a member of the North Wales Police Authority, President of UCNW, Chairman of Clwyd Health Authority, 1974-78, the most senior Freemason in north Wales and much more besides (see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’).

Anne’s brother was the Tory politician William Waldegrave – who was, among other things, Secretary of State for Health, 1990-92, under Thatcher and then Major. William was one of the Health Secretaries who colluded with the criminality of Dafydd and the paedophiles.

William and Anne’s sister Susan married Marmaduke Hussey, the man whom Thatcher ensured was installed as Chairman of the BBC, although when he was appointed he didn’t even know where the BBC HQ was located and he was a disaster for those glorious years when he was in post. One of my friends worked at the Commissioning Dept at the BBC whilst Hussey was Chairman and my friend was forced out because he refused to accept a bribe (see post ‘Oh, No! It’s The Pathetic Sharks…’). Susan Hussey is one of Prince William’s godparents.

The Chair of the Betsi Board Dr Peter Higson – who was a clinical psychologist at and then the manager of the North Wales Hospital Denbigh throughout the paedophile years and has spent his entire career concealing the crimes of Dafydd et al – is the brother of Dr Ruth Hussey, who was the Chief Medical Officer of Wales, April 2012 -16. Ruth Hussey’s previous includes being the Director of Public Health for Liverpool, a senior lecturer in public health at Liverpool University and from 2006, the Regional Director of Public Health at NHS North West, when she was seconded to the Public Health England Transition Team at the Dept of Health during the New Labour horrors.

I have no idea whether Ruth Hussey is an in-law of Susan and Marmaduke, but this corrupt incestuous shithouse is so big that it really wouldn’t surprise me if she was. I’m beginning to think that Brown and me are the only people who haven’t been tempted into this luxurious, ever-embracing public convenience which exists solely to protect Dafydd and a paedophile gang.

The Chairman of the NT whilst it made arrangements for the victims of serious crime to be herded into the sheep pen at Penrhyn Castle was Lord Patrick Gibson, who became Chairman of the NT, 1977-86. Gibson had been a council member of the NT since 1963 and continued to ‘take an interest in it’ after his retirement. There was trouble for the NT in 1983 when the MoD wanted to expand its operations on NT land and many NT members objected. An angry meeting resulted at which Gibson gave everyone a bollocking and their objections were subsequently ignored.

Lord Gibson served in the war – you’ve guessed it, he was in SOE and then worked in political intelligence with the Foreign Office. As with so many others who assisted Dafydd and the paedophiles for so many decades, Lord Gibson and Sir Jack Boles did some very impressive things during their time with the forces and risked life and limb to escape from dangerous unpleasant situations. It really is very sad to think that they thought that Dafydd, Lucille and a gang of paedophiles were worth their time and effort protecting. For God’s sake, one of those employed at Penrhyn Castle in the 1980s summers used to have gay sex with people in the clock tower – I can remember his name as well, but he might still be alive and in Bethesda, so I won’t publish it here, I don’t want to hear that he’s been found dead as nearly all witnesses now have.

Should anyone make the point that ‘oh but they were spies, they could have been undercover and gathering info.’ Yes, I’ve considered that. If they were, they have been gathering info on Dafydd et al since the early 1960s. Dafydd is still a free man Chairing CAIS. North Wales is wrecked, the statutory services don’t function and nearly all the witnesses to the north Wales paedophile gang are now dead. The Lords is choc full of those who knew what Dafydd et al were doing but who concealed it. Whatever those spies were doing, it benefited Dafydd and Lucille, not their victims. If they could fight Hitler and sat in the bunker alongside Churchill, why did they have so much trouble dealing with an insane old idiot who’s ham acting was so bad that no-one could have been fooled?

People who like to believe that there was no such thing as a Westminster Paedophile Ring and who harrumph and point to the fact that the ‘fantasies’ of nutters are only appearing online, never in the mainstream media, might like to ponder on who Lord Gibson was. He was married to a member of the family who owned Pearson plc, a newspaper and publishing business. Patrick Gibson was Chairman of the Pearson Group, 1978-83. The Pearson Group included the Westminster Press Group, which owned 46 provincial newspapers, including the ‘Northern Echo’ and the ‘Oxford Mail’. From 1967 Gibson was also Chair of the book publication arm of Pearson, Pearson Longman, which included Penguin. Gibson began working as a journo with the Pearson group in the late 1940s and was soon an Editorial Director. He was on the Board of the ‘Financial Times’ and became its Chairman in 1975. He was also on the Board of ‘The Economist’.

Gibson was Chairman of the Arts Council of GB, 1972-77. He succeeded paedophiles’ friend – and Harold Wilson’s friend and solicitor – Lord Arnold Goodman as Chair of the Arts Council. He preceded paedophiles’ friend and Wilson’s Health Minister Kenneth Robinson as Chair (see post ‘The White Heat Of This Revolution’).

Did Gibson find out about the Westminster Paedophile Gang and that was how he ended up Chairing the Arts Council and the NT? Or was he given those positions because he was a stooge who could be relied upon not to blow the gaffe when he found out that those organisations were full of people who had concealed the wrongdoing of Dafydd et al?

Many of those who colluded with Dafydd and the gang occupied senior roles in organisations concerned with the arts and heritage. Again and again when I research them, they are involved with opera, with galleries, with theatre and with museums. The lucky few sit at the top of those organisations.

Previous posts, such as ‘The White Heat Of This Revolution’ and ‘Include Me Out’, have noted how many people at senior levels in Harold Wilson’s Gov’t covered up the organised abuse of vulnerable people, often under the guise of providing services for the less advantaged. Harold Wilson rivalled Tony Blair in that regard. I have been watching some old documentaries about Wilson’s administrations which speculate on why he resigned suddenly and unexpectedly. There is much discussion of old favourites, such as Marcia Williams aka Lady Falkender throwing hissy fits and allegations that Wilson was working for the KGB. No-one mentioned that his toadies were using the welfare state to run a paedophile ring who murdered witnesses, which was probably as much of a problem as his alleged chumminess with the KGB.

I’ll be blogging about a few more of those close to Harold who helped Dafydd et al very soon, there are some whom I have not yet mentioned.

One of the undergrads in the Dept of Plant Biology at UCNW, 1981-83, was a mature student called Gaye Kennaway. Her husband Ian was Director of the Regions for the National Trust. Gaye became a personal friend of many of the lecturers at UCNW and at the time I just thought that was because she was older than the rest of us, but now I’m sure that there was something more going on. Gaye was very friendly with Prof Greig-Smith, the ecologist who knew Prof Edred Henry Corner, the Cambridge botanist who was Douglas Hurd’s uncle. Hurd was Home Secretary, 1985-89, whilst the Home Office ignored the havoc and criminality in north Wales and at Risley Remand Centre (see post ‘Security, Security’). Gaye ended up with a First and a number of lecturers openly remarked that she only received one because of the help that she had received from her pal Greig-Smith. Then Gaye was offered a PhD studentship with Chris Wood, who was married to the corrupt GP Dr D.G.E. Wood, who was facilitating the trafficking ring (see post ‘Additional Security Measures’ for more about Gaye and Ian Kennaway).

Gaye pushed the boat out to befriend the lecturers from the very beginning of the course, even the lecturers who were notoriously difficult and unfriendly. I was gobsmacked when in the first term I heard Gaye inviting Tony Jones to the opera. Tony Jones snapped that he didn’t have time to go to the opera. Gaye told him that he could stay over at her house and go straight into work the next day. Dr Tony Jones was the last person whom one would invite to the opera. He was a rather butch South African earth scientist who spent his time climbing or working with the Ogwen Mountain Rescue Team and who revelled in referring to ‘niggers’ in the presence of black students. He lived alone and had close relationships with some of the male undergrads which caused comment but never direct accusations. Tony Jones was mates with some of the North Wales Police and for a laugh one day he got them to arrest a student whom he had fallen out with. The student was wrongfully arrested and banged up in the cells in Bangor Police Station overnight and released without charge the next day. Tony Jones would not blend in at Glyndebourne.

So imagine my surprise when as investigations and inquiries into the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal began and the paedophiles’ friends launched their huge PR effort to remind everyone that Wales was a musical nation – Praise the Lord – and a literary nation and an arty nation and when Gruff Rhys from Llanllechid, the son of Gwynedd County Council Chief Exec Ioan Bowen Rees, became an international rock star (see post ‘The International Language Of Screaming’), Tony Jones popped up on ‘This Is Your Life’ with Michael Aspel (see post ‘The Bloody State We’re In’). Tony Jones! He’d never done ‘Saturday Night At The London Palladium’ or a Royal Variety Performance. He hadn’t even appeared with Bernard Manning on  ‘The Wheel Tappers and Shunters Social Club’ on tele. Tony Jones was a racist old geologist from Bangor and before that he was at Aberystwyth University. I’d like to know who was responsible for getting him onto prime time TV.

There are more than a few paedophiles’ friends with media links…

One person who would have been finished if the scale of the crime in north Wales had been admitted at that time would have been Lord K.O. Morgan, Principal of Aberystwyth University, the institution which was churning out crooked lawyers. Lord Ken was Mr Big in the Welsh Labour Party. He was married to the late Jane Morgan, a criminologist who grew up in Wrexham and later worked at Oxford. Jane did her PhD at Leicester University when scores of people there were concealing the activities of Frank Beck and Greville Janner. David and Richard Attenborough’s dad was Principal of what became Leicester University. See posts ‘Radical Leicester And Some Other Free Radicals’ and ‘Gwlad y Menig Gwynion’ for details of those involved in the cover-up. But Jane was also mates with Prof Dick Hobbs, who is a good mate of Laurie Taylor. Laurie’s son Matthew was Blair’s adviser – Matthew was and might still be Chief Exec of the RSA. Full details re Lord Ken and Jane can be found in my post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’.

Shortly after I’d watched Gaye do her best to introduce Tony Jones to the world of La Scala, Gaye told me that she was ‘very fond’ of another one of the staff – Ralph Oxley. Ralph was married to Isobel Hargreaves, who worked as a social worker for Gwynedd Social Services. Isobel’s name later appeared on some of Prof Mark Williams’s Mindfulness publications, the enormous research fraud that Williams perpetrated whilst the mental health patients died at the hands of Dafydd and the paedophiles (see post ‘The Biggest Expert Of The Lot’.)

Gaye knew how to choose her friends.

The Chairman of the National Trust, 2008-14, was Sir Simon Jenkins. Simon is best known for being the Editor of ‘The Times’, 1990-92. Before that he worked on ‘The Sunday Times’ – as did Top Doctor’s wife, Lord Snowdon’s mistress and one of the paedophiles’ greatest friends Marjorie Wallace (see post ‘One Dangerous Fucker’). Jenkins has written for many other newspapers as well and currently writes for ‘The Guardian’. Sir Simon was on the Board of British Rail, 1979-90. Which was famously atrocious, even though Jimmy Savile kept reassuring us that ‘this is the age of the train’. Which is a bit odd, because Savile boasted about his Rolls Royce, which it was later revealed he used to tempt teenaged girls into who were then sexually assaulted and his caravan, which was parked in the grounds of Broadmoor and was the site of a number of rapes. Perhaps Savile was just doing his bit for British Rail to drum up business for Harold Wilson’s mate George Thomas, who was known to be sexually molesting boys on the trains between London and south Wales.

Sir Simon has a second home at Aberdyfi in north Wales and he pissed everyone off by writing an article maintaining that people do not have the right to live near their families or where they grew up. Aberdyfi is absolutely lovely and is one of those places in north Wales that is completely beyond the price range of most local people because it has become such a popular destination for people from England who want a second home.

Simon’s other home is – or was – in Piccadilly. There are allegations that Simon has a third home as well.

Simon has campaigned against the building of affordable housing. Simon’s predecessor at the NT Sir Jack Boles hit the roof when he discovered that there was a plan to build near his home in Devon. Simon’s other predecessor at the NT, Lord Patrick Gibson, used his estate in Sussex as his main home but also had a villa north of Venice.

Sir Simon knew Sir Robin Day, who was one of Ronald Waterhouse’s closest friends.

Sir Simon’s first wife was the American actress Gayle Hunnicutt. Films in which Gayle starred included: ‘The Wild Angels’ (1966); ‘The Legend Of Hell House’ (1973); ‘The Sell Out’ (1976); ‘Target’ (1985). Gayle’s appeared on TV in: ‘Thriller – K Is For Killing’ (1974); ‘Dylan’ (1978); ‘Strong Medicine’ (1986). Gayle also appeared in ‘Dallas’ (1989-91), which starred some of Joan Collins’s mates. Joan Collins was friends with Christopher Cazenove and his wife Angharad Rees. Angharad’s dad was the Welsh Top Doctor Prof Linford Rees, who spent many decades concealing the wrongdoing of Dafydd and his associates and who according to legend died peacefully in his chair after a paned and a Welsh cake. Linford also enjoyed showing people photos of his female patients whilst they were in the bath, but that was always taken as a sign that he was a high calibre wag (see post ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’).

The Ass-headed Bottom:

Sir Simon and his mates were at the top of the food chain. Let me introduce a few more of Dafydd’s henchmen.

It was the Ty’r Felin children’s home in Bangor where children were severely abused and then trafficked for sex, including to Dolphin Square (see post ‘Are You Local?’). The manager of Ty’r Felin was Nefyn Dodd – he was assisted in the abuse of the kids by his wife June Dodd and his Deputy, Mari Roberts. I have detailed Dodd’s activities in previous posts. Dodd used to boast that he was a friend of Dafydd – Dodd presumably thought that an association with Dafydd was worth boasting about. The Waterhouse Inquiry was told by ex-residents of the brutality and repeated assaults on children by Nefyn and June Dodd, as well as by Mari Roberts. Ronnie dismissed the allegations and constantly made excuses for these three thugs.

One of the bottom feeders at Ty’r Felin was Peter Gadd. Gadd was employed by Gwynedd County Council for years on a temporary contract, in much the same way that Martin Jones, in his capacity as CEO of the NW Wales NHS Trust, staffed Ysbyty Gwynedd substantially by using agency or bank nurses. Anyone who dared mention the neglect and abuse of patients found that they ‘didn’t get their hours’ any longer. Martin didn’t even have to worry about bullying them out of their jobs or dismissing them on trumped up charges.

Gadd was a member of the Ogwen Mountain Rescue Team, as were other paedophiles’ friends (see post ‘No-One Is Innocent’) and frequently disappeared from work to go out with the Mountain Rescue Team.

There were many complaints against Gadd of bullying and assault on children and I am told that none of them were properly investigated. I have received an e mail stating that Gadd ‘provoked conflict between children so that he could wade in violently to restore order’. This was a favourite technique of the paedophiles’ friends in the mental health services as well. Patients would also be baited by staff until even the most even-tempered or mild-mannered of them raised their voice or stood up from their chair, at which point they’d be met with ‘restraint’ ie. an Angel landing on top of them needlessly, after which a few more Angels would pitch in. In the event of a complaint from the patient, a counter-allegation of assault on an Angel would be made and the patient would be hauled off down to the police station – even if they were sectioned – to be charged. Male patients were on occasions tasered by the police who were called into the hospital. In the events of patients taking their complaints to Ministers, or other witnesses expressing concern, somehow a piece would appear in the local paper concerning the serious problem of Dangerous Psychiatric Patients and how many hundreds of assaults the Angels had sustained recently at their hands.

I witnessed Gadd-like conduct in the North Wales Hospital and I understood immediately what the game being played was, which some other patients didn’t. After I left Denbigh, on one occasion when I rang Bryn Golau Ward in an attempt to get some answers because none of my letters of complaint had received a response, an Angel answered and I could hear what was very clearly the baiting of a distressed patient in the background. The patient then started screaming in distress – I knew damn well what was going on and I challenged the Angel who had answered the phone. I heard them say something in Welsh – which I did not understand – to the patient and then they gave the phone to the patient who of course screamed at me down the phone. No doubt the paedophiles’ victim had been told that I was a Top Doctor or a police officer or something. The phone was then snatched away from the patient and slammed down on me. Had I been there in person, no doubt a situation would have been engineered in which I would have been thumped.

Bryn Golau Ward, 1987. Dr Peter Higson in a management position in the North Wales Hospital, the Welsh Office ignoring all complaints. That was what was going on at ground level.

In Nov 1987, Peter Gadd gave evidence at the disciplinary investigation held by Gwynedd County Council against the whistleblower Alison Taylor. Alison had been Gadd’s supervisor, but he hadn’t worked for her since 1984. Gadd gave absolutely damning evidence against Taylor, maintaining that it was Alison that was the problem, not Nefyn Dodd.

In 1987, Gwynedd County Council were planning to take over Cartref Bontnewydd, a by then disused children’s home that was previously run by the Methodist Church. Gadd was promised the post of officer-in-charge at Cartref Bontnewydd in return for giving evidence against Alison. Gadd did not know that someone in Gwynedd County Council – I don’t know who – had also promised the post to Mari Roberts. Mari was appointed and an angry Gadd later told people that he’d ‘lied for Dodd’, in order to have Alison sacked.

Mari Roberts never worked with Alison but she also gave evidence against her at the Gwynedd County Council disciplinary panel – in support of Dodd, maintaining that Alison should be dismissed. Alison was dismissed in Nov 1987.

Gadd’s wife Patricia worked as a supply teacher – I presume for Gwynedd Education Authority. I understand that she subsequently was employed as a care officer by Gwynedd, although Patricia doesn’t seem to have any social work qualification.

It has been suggested to me that this was either compensation for Gadd not being given the post at Cartref Bontnewydd, or that Gadd threatened to go public on the fact that he had lied at Alison’s disciplinary hearing.

There were numerous complaints against Mari Roberts as well as against Gadd and the Dodds. There were complaints before the North Wales Police investigation of 1991-93.

By Nov 1987 when Dodd was organising Alison’s dismissal, the CPS were still considering a number of serious complaints against Nefyn Dodd. The CPS did not respond until Jan 1988. By Nov 1987 I had made repeated complaints about the mental health services in north Wales about the most serious matters. Dafydd had told me that if I didn’t drop my complaints he’d have me arrested and detained in Risley Remand Centre and he did try and do this in the summer of 1987, after a junior doctor perjured himself (see post ‘Workers Play Time’). He had also told me that if I did drop my complaints, he would ensure that I would be given a place at Liverpool Medical School. He had contacted my solicitor and told him not to act for me and had tried to find out which patients I might name as witnesses to the wrongdoing. Brown had written to Gwynedd Health Authority stating that he had heard Dafydd trying to threaten and bribe me but received no response. The Welsh Office knew about all of these matters, as did Clwyd and Gwynedd Health Authorities and Gwynedd Social Services. As did the North Wales Police.

The DPP at that time was Sir Thomas Hetherington QC and then Sir Allan Green QC.

As a result of the North Wales Police investigation, 1991-93, over 100 complaints about Nefyn Dodd were referred to the CPS. There was no prosecution of Dodd. By the time that the investigation had finished, I had been prosecuted for ‘staring a social worker’ in Safeways in Bangor (see post ‘Some Big Legal Names Enter The Arena’). The social worker was Jackie Brandt, who had illegally detained me in the psychiatric ward in Ysbyty Gwynedd, where I had the pleasure of Dafydd trying to discuss sex with me and then, after I challenged him, telling me to get out of north Wales and never come back or I’d be arrested (see post ‘Include Me Out’). Statements had been made about me by Tony Francis – without my knowledge – to Hempsons, the MDU solicitors, alleging that I had tried to strangle a Top Doctor, tried to throttle a Top Doctor and had attempted to stab a Top Doctor with ‘a dagger’. Both Hempsons and Andrew Park, the crooked lawyer who worked for the Welsh Office, wrote to Francis and others admitting that there was no evidence for any of these allegations.

The 1991-93 police investigation also resulted in numerous complaints against Mari, but no prosecutions resulted.

The DPP throughout all this was Sir Allan Green QC and then Dame Barbara Mills QC.

At the Waterhouse Inquiry Mari Roberts was however highly critical of Nefyn Dodd and his regime. She didn’t mention her key role in Alison’s dismissal, neither did the Counsel for the Inquiry and neither did Ronnie Waterhouse. Mari Roberts is discussed in the Waterhouse Report because witnesses described Mari in rather damning terms. She was described as deeply unpleasant and indeed violent, as Nefyn Dodd’s ‘henchwoman’. Ronnie was told that Mari had slapped children across the face and around the head, that she had kicked them, dragged them by their hair, forced them to strip and taken away their clothes after they had run away following her previous assaults and that on one occasion she had tried to smother a boy. Waterhouse observed that Mari was a caring woman who was dealing with some very difficult young people. When she was asked to explain the accusation that she had tried to smother a boy, Mari explained to Ronnie that she was ‘just being playful’.

And when they say no they mean yes don’t they Dafydd?

Like so many paedophiles’ friends in north Wales who do not have secure or well-paid employment, Peter and Patricia Gadd certainly live well. The Gadd’s live at Llanllechid, at Cysgod-y-Coed. They live in quite a nice converted barn/farmhouse place, with a fleet of 4 wheel drive vehicles parked outside. Their house is not in the main part of the village, it’s down a lane. As the crow flies, they must live very near to where Ioan Bowen Rees lived in his Plas. Since Ioan died, Mrs Bowen Rees has moved into the square in Rachub, but still in one of the best houses in the village. The Gadd’s and the Bowen Rees’s must have just been across the fields from each other.

The Gadd’s and the Bowen Rees’s lived there when someone made repeated attempts to set fire to my house, which was just down the road from them. That would have been in the early 1990s.

Peter and Pat Gadd are no longer involved in child care, but they have a new source of revenue. They’re doing Air B&B! If you look them up on Air B&B, they don’t mention their previous careers in sex trafficking. There’s a little photo of them cuddled up together looking like a comfy middle-aged couple.

‘Will you be wanting a Welsh cake, bach? I’ve got some in the oven. Ooh, I’ve got some bara brith on as well, that’ll be ready tonight. The beatings and the buggery are extras. We do overnight trips to Dolphin Square as well if you’re interested.’

This is what you get if you look up Peter n Pat on Air B&B:

Mari Roberts is now known as Mari Roberts-Jones. Mari was the creme de la creme in Ty’r Felin, she had a degree from UCNW (like Lucille Hughes). I think that Mari Roberts was probably taught at UCNW by the notorious Glyn Williams aka Glyn Patagonia. Like the former Bangor criminologist Prof Roy King, Glyn Patagonia had left UCNW by the time that I began post-doc work there, but he was still remembered as a vindictive bully. Glyn Patagonia went down in history at Bangor because the university brought a disciplinary case against him for systematically marking up Welsh language students and marking down English language students. He was represented by a very grand lawyer as well as by the AUT and he was cleared. When I first heard about this I thought well he probably wasn’t routinely doing it, it could have been one of those civil wars as a result of the strife which prevailed in the Dept at the time. I was later told by a number of people who are positive about the Welsh language, ‘no, he was guilty as charged, the marks were systematically fiddled’.

Like all good paedophiles’ friends, Glyn Williams was a greedy hypocrite and owned a second home in France.

Duw it’s hard. Pass the bara brith, put on Dafydd Iwan and we’ll have a sing song to keep up our spirits.

A lot of the paedophiles and their colleagues working in the children’s homes in north Wales did certificates in social work at Cartrefle College of Education (formerly Cartrefle  Training College) in Wrexham. Cartrefle became NEWI (North East Wales Institute) in 1975; in 1993 Cartrefle became an associate member of the University of Wales; in 2004 it became a full member of the University of Wales and in 2008 it became Glyndwr University.

In the early 80s Cartrefle College had a hotline to Nefyn Dodd and Lucille. The paedophiles’ friends at Cartrefle reported back to Dodd and Lucille on students, but not through any official channels. It was the usual MO of the paedophiles’ friends, gossip and rumour, targeting potential whistleblowers.

The MP for the constituency in which Ty’r Felin was located at the time was paedophiles’ friend and Welsh Office Minister Wyn – later Lord Wyn – Roberts (see post ‘The Cradle Of Filth’). Dafydd Wigley was told of concerns about events at Ty’r Felin, but as it wasn’t in his constituency, he passed the concerns on to Wyn (see post ‘It Wasn’t On Our Radar’). Ty’r Felin wasn’t in Dafydd Wigley’s constituency but the HQ of Gwynedd County Council was just around the corner from his constituency office. I’m fairly sure that Dafydd Wigley lives – or lived – in Bontnewydd. In the same village as Cartref Bontnewydd, where Mari Roberts playfully suffocated children and dragged them around by their hair. Cartref Newydd was in Dafydd Wigley’s constituency. Ioan Bowen Rees, the Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council, was an adviser to Dafydd Wigley.

I am told that the standards at Cartrefle College were very, very poor. My post ‘A Vampire At Glyndwr University’ discusses the many paedophiles’ friends who have governed and staffed that very troubled institution. Many of them date back to its time as Cartrefle College. In 2001, whilst the institution was still NEWI, Prof Mike Scott was appointed Principal. It mystified a great many people. Not just because when Mike Scott had done his PhD many moons ago at the University of Wales he had been ordered to rewrite and resubmit and there were people in the region who could remember this happening, but because a great many people maintained that Mike Scott was a completely unsuitable person to have been given that job. Including Brown.

Mike Scott had previously been a PVC at De Montfort University in Leicester and he virtually destroyed the place. He was a key figure in a disastrous senior management team who screwed up so badly that the institution had to be raised from the ashes by the present VC, who seems to have done a very good job. After Scott left De Montfort smouldering on the pavement, everyone at DMU presumed that he’d never work again. Then he turned up at NEWI, presided over events as extraordinary as he presided over at DMU and bugger me, someone then agreed to call his house of dysfunction a University.

In view of the fact that Scott did his PhD at the University of Wales in the days when the paedophiles largely controlled the institution, I cannot help but wonder if Mike Scott played the same old north Wales game – I know what you all did and where the bodies are buried… Gissa job as VC.

Leicester was the location of a paedophile gang which was linked to Dafydd et al…

Mike Scott took up his appointment at DMU in 1989. He had previously worked at Sunderland Poly. There was a paedophile gang located in the Sunderland area with links to Dafydd et al…

Mike Scott stood down from Glyndwr University in 2015. He announced that he would be departing in 2014, after the Home Office withdrew Glyndwr’s right to sponsor international students following allegations of visa fraud. The University’s Chancellor Sir Jon Shortridge praised Mike Scott’s ‘outstanding achievements’ as VC. Sir Jon Shortridge is a former civil servant who joined the hub of corruption that was the Welsh Office in 1984 and rose to the very top (see post ‘The Reality Is, There Is No Problem’).

Since devolution, Higher Education has been the responsibility of the Welsh Gov’t. When Scott was appointed Principal of NEWI in 2001, Rhodri Morgan was FM, as he was in 2008 when Glyndwr was granted university status.

The University of Salford validated degrees from Cartrefle College. Cartrefle College evolved into NEWI, which offered social work training, as does Glyndwr University. The University of Salford knew that children in care were being abused in north Wales because the Waterhouse Report discusses a student on placement from the University of Salford who was so horrified by what he saw in north Wales that he reported it to the University. As a result he was withdrawn from his placement after a matter of days. This student followed all appropriate guidelines after he witnessed child abuse. Waterhouse dismissed his evidence because he’d only been on placement for a few days so he didn’t really know what the care of children in north Wales was like.

The authorities responsible for Cartrefle College were the Welsh Dept at the Ministry of Education and the Dept of Education and Science. It was in the early 1980s when my correspondent told me that they had witnessed appalling standards and when staff at Cartrefle College had a hotline to Lucille and Dodd. The Secretary of State for Education and Science, 1981-86, was Sir Keith Joseph – who’s adviser was Barbara Kahan, who colluded with organised child abuse throughout her career (see post ‘Always On The Side Of The Children’). Barbara Kahan was one of the people to whom Alison Taylor wrote regarding her concerns about child abuse in north Wales. Alison did not receive a reply. Kahan, along with Allan Levy QC, conducted the Inquiry into the Staffordshire Pindown Scandal in the 1980s and published the resultant Report in 1991. They underplayed the seriousness of the abuse and for how long people had ignored it. Brown and I wrote to Keith Joseph, when we were undergrads, about student finance. The old bastard probably had us targeted then. The Secretary of State for the DES, 1979-81, was Mark Carlisle, who in 1973 had reassured the Commons that he had no concerns about the stream of deaths and the overcrowding at Risley Remand Centre (see post ‘Include Me Out’).

Previous Secretaries of State for the DES who were responsible for Cartrefle as qualifications were handed out to sex offenders were: Shirley Williams (under PM Jim Callaghan) – Shirl was asked by Dafydd Wigley to hold an Inquiry into the paedophiles’ friend Sir Charles Evans’s management of UCNW but she refused; Fred Mulley, under Wilson and Callaghan – Mulley was a barrister and like paedophiles’ friend Robert Bluglass, an Old Warwickian! (see ref ‘Enter Professor Bluglass CBE). The Warwick School website has a little quip about the Old Warwickians ‘growing old disgracefully’. Presumably they’ve heard about Bluglass facilitating an international sex trafficking ring. Someone ought to seize Compton Verney under the proceeds of crime legislation.

Cheers!

Before Fred, the Secretary of State for the DES was Reg Prentice, under PM Wilson. Prentice was a barrel of laughs, he left the Labour Party in 1977 and in 1979 was elected as a Tory MP. Thatcher made him Minister for the Disabled! Prentice died in 2001, but in the last few years before his death he was President of the Devizes Conservative Association. Sir Peter Morrison’s family seat was near Devizes and the locality had become completely corrupted as a result. No wonder Reg went and parked himself down there during the Waterhouse Inquiry (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III’). Prior to Reg, the Secretary of State for the DES was a Margaret Hilda Thatcher. She was so busy withdrawing the free school milk from primary school kids that she took her eye off a gang of paedophiles giving out certificates in social work to other members of the gang. Furthermore her critics were so busy yelling ‘Thatcher the Snatcher’ that they forgot to mention that Cartrefle was training sex traffickers.

It’s all a bit Julian Tudor Hart isn’t it (see post ‘The Human Stain’).

That takes us as far back as 1970. Cartrefle was dishing out the qualifications to the paedophiles’ friends even before then. It feels as if it’s been going on since the Pre-Cambrian era…

There was a children’s home in Llanfairpwll on Anglesey, called Y Gwyngyll, which was the focus of complaints such that in 1981 the Chief Executive of Gwynedd County Council, Ioan Bowen Rees, was obliged to launch an investigation. Bowen Rees called in  ‘senior officers’ of Dyfed County Council who of course found nothing seriously amiss. Ioan Bowen Rees had been the County Secretary of Dyfed County Council before he became Chief Exec of Gwynedd. There was a paedophile ring in Dyfed at the time which had links to Dafydd et al.

An Orthodox priest – yes, north Wales has one – called Father Deiniol who lived in Blaenau Ffestiniog used to have boys from Y Gwyngyll staying over at his house for the weekend. I have been told that on one occasion, one boy returned from Father Deiniol’s place highly distressed with, for some inexplicable reason, his toenails painted purple. Alison Taylor stored up yet more trouble for herself when she raised concerns regarding the arrangement between Father Deiniol and the children from Y Gwyngyll. Her concerns were silenced. Nefyn Dodd, David Bailey (the officer-in-charge of Y Gwyngyll) and Gethin Evans all maintained that Father Deiniol was the best thing since sliced bread and that he was providing welcome opportunities for disadvantaged kids to have a weekend break.

I was always intrigued by Father Deiniol’s presence in north Wales. The first time that I saw him I was an undergrad and in a Chinese takeaway in Bangor. I was quite surprised when an Orthodox priest came in and ordered some food. I used to see him around Upper Bangor (the part of Bangor where the University arts depts are and the residential quarter where students and in those days many University staff used to live) in the company of a variety of people. Upper Bangor was host to a selection of characters in those days. There was a left-wing bookshop called the Information Centre which was the centre of CND activity; there was a whole food restaurant called Methusala’s; there was a load of Bahai people;  there was a house covered in activist stickers which housed a crowd of people – some of whom were involved with the domestic violence shelter – including a little boy who used to always sport a ‘boys against sexism’ badge; there was a man who called himself Brother Dai who, when he heard that I lived on Anglesey, told me that Anglesey was ‘the island of free love’. Shortly after encountering Brother Dai, I saw an advert in an alternative newsletter inviting people to come along for a session of ‘European Rolfing’. I asked Brown if he knew what on earth European Rolfing was, but he’d never heard of such a practice either. I had the feeling that it might involve Brother Dai.

The people who owned Methusula’s were readily identifiable because they seemed to have a great deal of money by Bangor standards. They drove a Porsche, which was unique for alternative people hanging out in Upper Bangor. The restaurant was very small, the prices were reasonable and the customers were mostly students. A lot of businesses in Bangor or Menai Bridge in those days were obviously hobby shops, owned by people who didn’t make enough from their shop to live on but who had another source of income (often a spouse who worked in the university or as a Top Doctor) which subsidised the shop. Methusula’s struck me as being that sort of business, but the couple who owned it worked in there themselves every night and then drove home in the Porsche which was parked just down the road. They did chat to the students and customers, but their goodwill was a bit forced. They sold up and left Bangor in about 1983 and told me that they were buying a pub and restaurant in Devon. They were so frosty when I asked them what their future plans were – which was weird because I’d been a regular in Methusula’s for ages – that I wondered if they had had some sort of bad experience and that’s why they were going.

So Father Deiniol used to be seen around Bangor amongst this crowd. Father Deiniol used to turn up to freshers’ events at UCNW and he was still doing this when I left Bangor in 2012. I was manning a stall at the postgrad fair and who rolled up but Father Deiniol. I had no idea that he was a paedophiles’ friend and hosted the kids from Y Gwyngwyll, I only received information about this after I began this blog.

Father Deiniol has a heavy internet presence. He features on a Facebook page, ‘Past Times of Blaenau Ffestiniog’ and under the title ‘Father Deiniol, Respected Member of Blaenau Ffestiniog’ one can read about Father Deiniol’s ‘journey’. Father Deiniol certainly gets around, he’s travelled the world and although he speaks Welsh, English and Greek, it would appear that Father Deiniol originally came from Wrexham. The coverage of Father Deiniol’s adventures tell us that he became involved in the Orthodox Church when he was a teenager in Wrexham and subsequently founded the Wales Orthodox Mission in the mid-1980s. Father Deiniol is of the generation who were young men when that paedophile ring based in the children’s homes in Wrexham really began expanding their business.

Praise the Lord, we’re a musical nation. Paedophile ring you say? Bechod, we’ve got harps and Elinor Bennett, we’ve got literature and Kate Roberts, we’ve got art and Kyffin and we’ve also got an Orthodox priest with a penchant for purple nail varnish on the toes of young boys…

In 2008, Father Deiniol – Tad Deiniol in Welsh – starred in a TV series, ‘Taith Tad Deiniol’. The series was narrated by Twm Morys who did so because he has ‘an interest in the Orthodox Church’. Twm is a media-friendly Bard who has featured on this blog recently (see post ‘Heart Of Darkness’). Twm’s dad/mum is Jan Morris, who when she was James Morris, was a member of the 1953 Everest expedition – the team leader was Sir Charles Evans, the Top Doctor who was Principal of UCNW for all those years when the paedophiles’ friends ran the place. Twm and Jan are big fans of paedophiles’ friend and colleague Dr Chris Evans.

The TV series starring Father Deiniol was made by Peter Telfer of mid-Wales production company Pixel Foundry, who it is said ‘was a pupil of Father Deiniol’s at Ysgol Ardudwy’.

Pixel Foundry was dissolved in 2013 but used a number of addresses at Machynlleth as well as one at Abersytwyth Arts Centre. Peter Telfer was the Creative Director and a Suzanne Kemp was the Company Secretary. Peter Telfer used an address in Ceinws for a long time. Ceinws hit the media for all the wrong reasons in 2012, when five yr old April Jones from Machynlleth was murdered by Mark Bridger, who lived at Ceinws, having moved there from Birmingham.

One newspaper article stated that Father Deiniol was the Chaplain at Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities.

Another correspondent has told me that a teacher from Anglesey known to the kids as ‘Seagull’ who was ‘hated and feared’ by the children was also a regular at Y Gwyngwyll. I have not been given Seagull’s real name.

There was quite a bit of action at Blaenau Ffestiniog other than Father Deiniol and his Orthodox Church. Blaenau hosted Ceryl Wyn Davies, who I am told still lives there. Ceryl Wyn Davies was the Headmaster of Tanygrisiau School (a primary school near Blaenau) who in 1986, whilst Bowen Rees was Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council, was jailed for 18 months at Mold Crown Court after pleading guilty to three charges of indecent assault on girls under thirteen. Ceryl Wyn was 47 yrs old at the time of his imprisonment and had been Headmaster of Tanygrisiau School for seven years.

Had Ioan Bowen Rees operated on the same level as the rest of us, Ceryl Wyn’s conviction might have left him a little red-faced, but being Ioan it won’t have. Ceryl Wyn had previous. In 1964, after being convicted at Holyhead Magistrates Court for indecently assaulting schoolgirls whilst being employed as a teacher, Ceryl Wyn was sentenced to nine months in prison. Ioan Bowen Rees stated that Ceryl Wyn’s 1964 conviction had been spent and ‘had to be ignored’. It was true that Ceryl Wyn’s conviction had been spent, but with regard to spent convictions, potential employers are obliged to exercise judgement not ignore the conviction under all circumstances. If the spent conviction is relevant to the job for which the offender is applying, the potential employer is required to take the spent conviction into account. Ceryl Wyn was a child sex offender who had applied for a job as a Headmaster of a primary school.

This was in the days before CRB/DBS checks, so Ceryl Wyn would not have been obliged to mention his 1964 conviction on his application when he threw his hat in the ring for the job as Headmaster of Tanygrisiau School. However, Gwynedd Education Authority were well aware that there was Something About Ceryl Wyn when he became Head of Tanygrisiau. He was already in the employ of Gwynedd County Council as a teacher and was promoted to Headmaster of Tanygrisiau – shortly after he had appeared before Blaenau Ffestiniog Magistrates in 1978 for, er, indecently assaulting school children.

Ceryl Wyn was acquitted. He was defended by the best – Emlyn Hooson QC, the then Liberal MP for Montgomeryshire! Emlyn was a pretty big hitter to bring in for an appearance in Blaenau Ffestiniog Magistrates Court.

Emlyn Hooson was a close mate of Ronnie Waterhouse. Hooson had been part of the Liberal Party panel which investigated Jeremy Thorpe regarding Norman Scott’s allegations years before Jeremy stood trial for conspiracy and incitement to murder Norman. The inquiry had finished by Lord Frank Byers – Lisa Nandy’s grandfather – hurling insults at Norman and Norman giving up and leaving the room in despair (see post ‘My How Things Haven’t Changed’).

It was the year in which Hooson successfully defended Ceryl Wyn for indecent assault that Jeremy Thorpe was charged with conspiracy and incitement to murder Norman. The year after Ceryl Wyn was acquitted, so was Thorpe.

It must have been really great being a friend of Emlyn Hooson.

Glyn Davies, the Tory MP for Montgomeryshire recently appeared in the Welsh media complaining that the recent TV drama about Jeremy Thorpe cast Emlyn Hooson in a very negative light, which according to Davies, was unfair. Glyn Davies spent years sitting on Montgomery District Council alongside Hooson’s wife Shirley, who died very recently (see post ‘The Defence Of The Realm’).

After Ceryl’s second imprisonment – in 1986 – Ioan Bowen Rees maintained that the 1978 panel who promoted Ceryl Wyn to the post of Headmaster was ‘not negligent’ and  ‘did not show favouritism’. Bowen Rees made the point that after his 1964 conviction and prison sentence, Ceryl Wyn was reinstated as a teacher by the Dept of Education in 1970. That was when Thatch was Education Secretary and whilst Cartrefle College was busy distributing qualifications to members of a paedophile gang. A great many of whom ended up working for Ioan Bowen Rees. Bowen Rees himself partly blamed Thatch for that business of Ceryl finding himself working as a Headmaster – ‘with hindsight we can see that the Dept of Education and the local LEA put too much trust in the individual in question’.

The ‘local LEA’ will have been Gwynedd, under the then Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council, David Alun Jones, Ioan’s predecessor. Ioan wasn’t the Chief Exec when Ceryl Wyn was given a job as Headmaster, but Ioan almost certainly knew Ceryl Wyn back in 1964, when Ceryl Wyn was first jailed for sex offences against children. Because Ioan grew up in north Wales and for years worked as a solicitor for the old Denbighshire County Council. Ioan – and his parents – were well-known locally and in 1955 Ioan stood as the Plaid candidate for Conwy.

Ceryl Wyn may have been only reinstated as a teacher in 1970 out of the kindness of Thatch’s heart, but the folk of Blaenau obviously had no worries regarding his conduct with young people very soon after he was released from prison following his 1964 conviction, because in 1968 Ceryl Wyn was a member of the Council which oversaw the Youth Eisteddfod in Blaenau Ffestiniog. I have been sent a nice photo of Ceryl Wyn, along with the other members of the Council – Maldwyn Parry, Gareth Jones, Elwyn Hughes, Morwen Davies, Pegi Lloyd Williams and Geraint Vaughan Jones.

Ceryl Wyn Davies grew up in Blaenau and trained as a teacher at Coleg Normal in Bangor. He has been a member of a number of local choirs, including Cor Meibion y Moelwyn, of which he was the leader. Ceryl Wyn has also been the Chair of Blaenau Ffestiniog Town Council. He is a keen Eistedfoddwr and is a member of the Gorsedd of the Bards. I am told that he still preaches locally.

Anyone who knows Blaenau Ffestiniog will know that there is absolutely no way that people didn’t know about Ceryl Wyn’s 1964 conviction when he became Head of Tanygrisiau School in 1978. Most of the town will have been to school with Ceryl Wyn and a good few will have been at Coleg Normal with him, EVERYONE will have known.

I am not suggesting that Ceryl Wyn should have been cast into the outer darkness after his 1964 conviction. It says a lot for Blaenau that he wasn’t followed by a baying mob demanding his testicles on a platter. But they did know that a very close eye should have been kept on him where children were concerned. Many people will have been well aware of that and may have had great reservations about Ceryl Wyn turning up as the local primary school Headmaster. I suspect that it was the usual story – we don’t like it, we are very worried but we don’t feel that we can even raise concerns because his mates are bigger than we are and we live here and everyone knows where we live. Neither do we fancy being framed for crimes or being carted off to the North Wales Hospital by the Welsh speaking psychiatric social worker (see post ‘No-One Is Innocent’) on the grounds that we have some serious delusions about a child molesting Headmaster and his friends.

I really don’t have a problem with north Wales accepting Ceryl Wyn back into the fold after he had been to prison. What I have a problem with is the shit that was flung at Alison Taylor, Mary Wynch, me and many others, because we did not have the same mates as Ceryl Wyn, yet we had not serially molested children over decades.

It was in April 1986 when Ceryl Wyn Did It Again and was sent back to prison. Which was about about the time when the threats and aggro towards me from Dr D.G.E. Wood, Tony Francis and other paedophiles’ friends began to escalate. I didn’t know, but at the time Tony Francis was sending furious letters to the BMA and the MDU stressing how dangerous and twisted I was on the basis of my allegations about Gwynne the lobotomist. Gwynne was almost dead by then, they all knew that he wasn’t long for this world, but I was mouthing off and Mary Wynch had put her case before the Master of the Rolls and that had been reported in the London-based broadsheets. I notice that Ceryl Wyn’s case received widespread publicity and was even reported in ‘The Times’. It was mentioned that Ceryl Wyn had indecently assaulted pupils as he marked their work…

Unlike Ceryl Wyn, I, along with others, were hounded out of jobs and nearly ended up in prison – indeed some people did go to prison – without having committed any offences at all. One of the barristers and judges who led the field in such prosecutions was the fat fool Huw Daniel. Who’s father, J.E. Daniel, was an inspector of schools in north Wales and worked at the Bala Theological College, along with the father of Dafydd Iwan – one time leader of Gwynedd County Council – and Alun Ffred, one time member of Gwynedd County Council and subsequently AM for Caernarfon and then Arfon.

Yma O Hyd! Indeed you are – and look at the bloody mess.

After Ceryl Wyn stood accused once more but was acquitted in 1978, Gwynedd County Council assembled a disciplinary panel which met twice to ‘review the position’. The panel decided that it was ‘unreasonable’ to ‘force the children who gave evidence during a lengthy court case to be questioned again’. There is a great deal of sense in that conclusion. I can only stand by and gawp as I witness the damage and distress inflicted upon victims of sexual assault as complete fuckwit after complete fuckwit demand that they ‘talk about it because it helps’. Does it? When was that demonstrated then? I’m not sure that there is much evidence pointing to that. There is however a great deal of evidence that suggests that sexual predators target people whom they think may have been victims of sexual assault previously. Anyone for Dafydd’s sex therapy?

The disciplinary panel would not have needed to have forced traumatised children to give evidence again. The children’s evidence had already been heard in open court. It was publicly available. What the panel should not have done was given Ceryl Wyn a job as a Headmaster shortly after the kids had given evidence, thus giving him unsupervised access to primary school children. Perhaps even the siblings and friends of the kids who had given the evidence…

I suspect that the kids of Blaenau Ffestiniog were fully aware of Ceryl Wyn, kids tend to be quite sharp with regard to adults who have a penchant to Fiddle About. It’s the adults who can’t cope if the Fiddler in question is a Headmaster to whom they are related or are friends with, or a Top Doctor who is good at getting the guilty out of Risley Remand Centre, putting the innocent in there or securing one’s relatives jobs as social workers or places at Liverpool Medical School.

But we didn’t know!

Jokes, cartoons, songs, nicknames…

We didn’t know.

Serious complaints followed by suicides and deaths, houses going up in flames…

A few other stars were and no doubt still are based in Blaenau, along with Father Deiniol and Ceryl Wyn.

In July 2010 Gwilym Euros Roberts was jailed for four and a half years after attacking his estranged wife Catrin with two knives. In April 2010 he broke into Catrin’s house in Blaenau – Roberts was also living in Blaenau but in a different house – armed himself with two knives from the kitchen, burst into a bedroom where Catrin was watching TV yelling ‘I’m going to kill you, fucking bitch’, pushed her onto the bed and tried to stab her in the head and neck. Catrin had been living in fear of Roberts and had dialled 999 when she heard someone breaking in, assuming that it was him. Catrin fought Roberts off, sustaining a broken nose and serious defence wounds to her hands and arms. Catrin stated that Roberts had attempted to murder her.

After Catrin fought back, Roberts ‘fled’ to the house of ‘a friend’ – media reports did not mention their name – and stated ‘I’ve lost it, I’ve tried to stab Catrin’. Roberts made a full admission to the police.

At the time that Gwilym Roberts knifed Catrin, he was on police bail following a brawl in March at the Oakeley Arms at Maentwrog – near to Blaenau – during which it was alleged that Roberts assaulted Catrin and another man, after he found them in a bedroom at the Oakeley Arms. Roberts’s bail conditions had stated that he was not to contact Catrin. Several complaints had been made to the police regarding Roberts breaching his bail conditions before he stabbed Catrin and a few days prior to attacking her, Roberts had been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

At the time of the attack on Catrin, much was made of broken-hearted Gwilym committing a crime of passion after the slapper Catrin was found with another man. There was no comment regarding why Catrin might have sought comfort in the arms of someone else. Catrin’s family simply released photos of a narrowly escaping death Catrin and starkly said ‘this is what he did to her’.

Gwilym Roberts was the Councillor for Diffwys and Maenofferen Ward in Blaenau on Gwynedd County Council. Roberts was a Councillor for Llais Gwynedd (Voice of Gwynedd), a breakaway group from Plaid. His conviction and imprisonment caused a by-election.

Roberts stood trial in July 2010. Some reports stated that it was at Mold Crown Court, but others said Caernarfon. He was charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding or causing grievous bodily harm with intent, rather than attempted murder. Roberts was defended by barrister John Wyn Williams, who stressed that Roberts was ‘genuinely ashamed’ of his actions.

John Wyn Williams was based at Linenhall Chambers in Cheshire. Lord Alex Carlile was based at the same Chambers. John Wyn Williams is married to an Angel who works – or used to work – at the Ablett Unit, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. One of her colleagues there was Dr Neil Davies, a mate of Dafydd’s. Neil Davies was the RMO for Bryn Golau Ward in the North Wales Hospital when I and so many other people were unlawfully imprisoned there in 1986/87. Copies of medical records in my possession show that when one – brave – Angel – told Neil Davies that I had been unlawfully arrested and detained as a result of a ‘deal’ between Dafydd and a Superintendent Roberts at Bangor Police Station and she was most unhappy at being involved with this ‘deal’, Neil Davies told her that she wasn’t really involved, all she had to do was to refuse to let me go.

John Wyn Williams was one of the barristers from whom I sought a legal opinion regarding a possible negligence case against the NHS in about 2004-05. I had a conference with him and received a legal opinion that didn’t actually say ‘no hope on this one’, but somehow it all fizzled out without John Wyn Williams explaining why.

Recorder Winston Roddick QC presided over Gwilym Euros Roberts’s trial. Roddick is a longstanding paedophiles’ friend and was the former Counsel General for Wales when the Waterhouse Report was published (see post ‘Have The Lambs Stopped Screaming?’). Roddick stated that Roberts had  ‘shown genuine remorse’ and of course was ‘ashamed’. Roddick commented that Roberts had ‘an outstanding record of public service. The sentence is the shortest time the law permits’.

The record for Roberts’s case mentions that his ‘good character’, ‘remorse’ and a ‘character reference/witness’ were taken into account re sentencing. I do not know who the character reference was.

‘Call Dr DA Jones, he’s needed in court…’

Gwilym’s good luck just went on and on. In March 2011, whilst Gwilym was serving the shortest sentence possible for wounding rather than a massive sentence for attempted murder following two assaults, criminal damage and repeatedly breaking bail conditions, it was reported that Gwilym had been ‘wrongly assessed’ as being a future risk to the general public and that the condition imposed upon him to be subject to a period of four years on extended licence following his release from prison was overturned. The decision was made in the London Court of Appeal by Mrs – now Dame – Kathryn Thirlwall.

Kathryn Thirlwall went to school at St Anthony’s Girls’ Catholic Academy in Sunderland, then to Bristol University, then to Newcastle Poly.

Readers will remember the paedophile gang which operated in the north east with links to Dafydd’s gang in north Wales, who were protected by politicians, civil servants, Top Docs etc. Readers might need reminding that Lord David Hunt, who spent so many years concealing the crimes of Dafydd et al, is a Bristol University alumnus. As is D.G.E. Wood.

I am told that the MDU are now using the lawyers DAC Beachcroft. A company led by Lord David Hunt.

Grace Dent, the journo who is relentlessly talked up by ‘Woman’s Hour’ and has her own Radio 4 series which involves Grace giving voyeuristic accounts of the troubles of the members of what Blair called the underclass whilst she talks in a hushed northern voice, praised Mrs Justice Thirlwall to the skies after her judgement in the Mick Philpott case, which involved the scrounger with dozens of kids who perished in a house fire whilst the family lived high on the hog on benefits. Grace was particularly impressed with Kathryn Thirlwall being in possession of ovaries and related this to Kathryn’s firm line on male violence towards women.

In that case Grace, perhaps you’d like to move to Blaenau Ffestiniog where you too will be able to reap the benefit of Kathryn Thirlwall’s Wimmin’s Wisdom. There’ll be a spare house for you, because I imagine that when Gwilym Roberts was released, Catrin and anyone who dared support her relocated to another planet. There would have been a spare house anyway, Blaenau is on its knees after years of fuckwittery and it didn’t even have a cashpoint until a few weeks ago after a campaign led by the local MP Liz Saville Roberts. There’s no work and not many buses to get to work if anyone is lucky enough to find a job, so the houses are among the cheapest in the UK. If you’re retired or have a private income you’ll be OK and the countryside around Blaenau is lovely. But unfortunately you’ve got Gwilym on your doorstep and he’s untouchable.

The high profile Wimmin’s Champs in Wales such as Jane Hutt and Val Feld remained totally silent in the wake of Catrin nearly being murdered. Jane Hutt was the driver behind the vomit-inducing plaque commemorating Val Feld which now shines from the wall of the Senedd. Jane was the founder of Welsh Wimmin’s Aid. Whilst I was under attack by the paedophiles’ friends, a Wimmin’s Aid worker lived right opposite my house. She stood next to me at the bus stop, she passed me in the street and on one occasion she was in Bangor Magistrates Court when the paedophiles’ friends were trying to fit me up yet again. It was about five years before she even spoke to me and that was after I had left the village. I doubt if she is wicked through and through, she was probably just terrified of the paedophiles’ friends, as many people are when you get to know them.

Somebody has told me that years ago I and other young women were filmed a la Psycho without our knowledge and the footage flogged and circulated. I can only presume that the scene of the crime was at dear old Denbigh. It was suggested that I should be in the throes of some sort of #Me Too trauma. Well I’m not. It doesn’t surprise me in the least, everyone knew what was happening to us and no-one, no-one at all helped us. At least I am still alive. I am far more interested in sociology and history and writing this blog and naming the people who were involved in this foulness, many of whom are still popping up in the media or in Parliament to give us the benefit of their wisdom.  I heard wimmin’s wisdom on the radio the other day, but I only caught a bit of it. An American feminist who is busy in the UK yelled at the interviewer that the only way of stopping male sexual violence was by making prostitution illegal. Well that worked so well in north Wales didn’t it. By the way Ms Wimmin’s Wisdom, things were so bad in north Wales that Dafydd and co abducted boys and sold them across Europe. No-one gave a stuff but Jane and Val did bang on about being strong wimmin and chwarae teg at length.

Before Gwilym Roberts was banged up, he was a Director of Tourism Partnership Mid-Wales; Prime Cymru; Gwynfryn Cymuneddol Cyf; and Secretary of Tan y Maen Ltd.

I may have got this wrong, but I am fairly sure that Gwilym used to be a children’s/young person’s social worker with Gwynedd County Council, although all references to this have disappeared from the internet. After Catrin nearly left for the next world, I remember noting the unique combination of a broken heart, a passion for the community, a record of outstanding public service and a near brutal slaying that was to be found within Gwilym, because I remembered Gwilym from some years previously.

Gwilym had been a leading light in a group which was established in Wales in about 2000 called Cymuned, in response to the perceived crisis in rural Wales. The concerns were the dying of the Welsh language, closures of rural schools and other services, houses being beyond the price of many local people’s pockets and the lack of employment which paid well enough to actually enable one to support oneself. Some of my friends were involved in Cymuned and invited me along, so I went to some meetings. The English press were keen to portray Cymuned as a cottage-burning Nazi-style anti-English group – someone cheerily asked me why I was hanging out with the Welsh Nazis – but there were people in Cymuned who were definitely not of that ilk. I met some very genuine people who were nothing but welcoming to me and who were tearing their hair out over what was happening in rural Wales. But then the usual phenomenon emerged. The nutters and the in-fighting.

I knew one member of Cymuned who was forced out of her job at Coleg Menai as a teacher of Welsh to English speakers by a Plaid Councillor on the grounds that Cymuned might damage Plaid at the polls. This teacher was so enthusiastic that in her spare time she and a group of her friends had offered free Welsh lessons to anyone who was interested. Which is surely the sort of Welsh teacher that one needs. Then the ‘Daily Mirror’ began launching attacks on Cymuned, particularly Llais Councillor Seimon Glyn. The Mirror had a go at Seimon Glyn because he had been making public speeches about the cost of housing in rural Gwynedd – which was a very real problem.

The Cymuned battles took place just before and just after the publication of the Waterhouse Report. The Mirror could have mentioned that Seimon was a young person’s social worker in Gwynedd and asked him how he managed to miss the presence of a vicious paedophile gang which was facilitated by his managers and his colleagues. But The Mirror didn’t. They got cross because Seimon spoke Welsh and was raising concerns about the dire state of the economy in north west Wales. Call me naive but I can’t see anything wrong with that.

I remember seeing Gwilym Roberts at Cymuned meetings. I didn’t know him but he wasn’t one of the welcoming ones. He reminded me rather of Martin Webster of the National Front in the mid-70s. Gwilym was articulating concerns that people had brought to him and was welcomed by some as a people’s champ, but there was a sort of aura of serious aggression which surrounded Gwilym. I thought perhaps that I was being a poncy Guardian reader and detecting something that wasn’t there, but years later some residents of Blaenau told me that Gwilym had upset and alienated some people in Cymuned by his hostility and aggression. Then some other people in Blaenau told me that Gwilym was not a nice man and had been doing some very unacceptable things for a long time but was well-protected by his mates.

Including the Court of Appeal in London it would seem.

Gwilym was mates with another Llais Councillor from Blaenau, Dafydd Williams, a man known locally as Black Dafydd, which always upset newly arrived English people because they immediately presumed it to be a racist insult. It wasn’t. Black Dafydd is Welsh, but grew up in the Methodist orphanage in Bontnewydd – he was the only black person around and he ended up being called Black Dafydd by his mates and people close to him.  He didn’t have a problem with it – I suspect that he did experience racism but his mate’s nickname for him wasn’t a manifestation of that. One thing that really did irritate him was being called a Taffy when he went to train as an Angel in the north of England.

Anyone for lecturing Welsh people on the evils of racism?

Black Dafydd worked as a mental health nurse in north Wales. He had also previously been a police officer, in Wales and elsewhere. I have never discussed the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal with Black Dafydd, but he must have known what another Dafydd who was white was doing, he absolutely must have.

A paedophiles’ friend of the highest order lives in Blaenau – Hefin Davies, the lying crook and Freemason who was the Chairman of Gwynedd Health Authority and then the Chairman of the NW Wales NHS Trust. The Hefin who’s signature is on documents in my possession showing that after I continued to raise concerns regarding Dafydd Alun Jones, Hefin’s response was not to investigate but to consult a number of lawyers and ask them how I could be prosecuted.

Can you explain your response Hefin? Particularly as you had also received a letter from Brown – which was ignored and which your lapdog Ian Rickard claimed not to have received – telling you that he had heard Dafydd trying to bribe and threaten me into dropping my complaint against him?

I think that the whole lot of you should probably get down to Bangor pier and chuck yourselves off the end, I think that you’ve been rumbled.

The voice of Gwynedd??? The voice of a paedophile ring who supplied Thatcher’s friends with children for sex I think.

People who have followed this blog for a while might remember my references to the havoc in Blaenau some years ago when a war allegedly between ‘the Welsh’ and ‘the English’ took place, including in the local MIND drop in centre. A leading light in Blaenau MIND appeared in the ‘Daily Post’ alleging appalling anti-English feeling in Blaenau. Which is a bit weird, because Blaenau is a bit like Bethesda, it’s a former quarrying town where a lot of hippyish English people moved in ages ago, with a lot of mixing between the two groups. What there is in Blaenau, as with Bethesda, are paedophiles’ friends inflaming every situation possible. MIND is run by Dafydd and the paedophiles and has been for years.

Subsequent media coverage alleged that the aggro at MIND was not the result of anti-English feeling. According to the people who had been accused of racism, it was the result of a load of absolute bastards who had recently moved into Blaenau and colonised the MIND centre there. Further media coverage – and conversations that I had with people – revealed that Manchester City Council had purchased a whole lot of cheap houses in Blaenau and had literally dumped a group of problem tenants in them because Manchester didn’t want them any longer and it was these tenants who had been at the centre of the aggro. There was understandably outrage that Manchester had decided to give Wales the citizens that it didn’t want, but I did not ever hear any explanation as to how and why Manchester decided to use Blaenau as a dustbin. Someone sold Manchester City Council that job lot of houses and someone – indeed quite a lot of people – will have known that a penal colony of Mancunians was to be established in Blaenau.

Gwynedd County Councillors will have been among those who knew that this was going to happen. The North Wales Police will have known. The regional NHS will have known. The regional Social Services will have known.

Gwilym! Hefin! When did you find out that it was going to happen? Who flogged – and indeed advertised – that housing to Manchester City Council? Who INVITED them to dump their needy, expensive, rather difficult citizens into one of the most disadvantaged towns in Gwynedd? I think we should be told.

I mentioned that there was an English speaking contingent in Blaenau involved with radical causes. I used to hear about them years ago when I was a student at UCNW, but I didn’t know them. I later found out that some of them at least ended up living in the area because the presence of Bertrand Russell nearby made it a bit of a Mecca for people interested in radical causes. The Bertrand Russell who had so many friends and associates who knew, even back then, that there was organised abuse of vulnerable people in the region but that Top Docs and asylums could provide a helpful solution should anyone start making too much of a fuss (see posts ‘So Who Was Angry About What?’ and ‘No-One Is Innocent’).

The Hergest Unit patients who enjoyed themselves so much in the 1990s by ringing up Dafydd and pretending to be people as corrupt as him who had got themselves involved with ridiculous tangles as a result of their wrongdoing fell about laughing every time that Dafydd fell for the bait and would say ‘how can I help, how I help?’. Dafydd was always ready with a place in a nursing home for an awkward relative or a bed in a detox unit or an Army pension. Dafydd might be interested to know that on one occasion a distraught gentleman rang Dafydd’s ‘private secretary’ at his wit’s end because of his father-in-law, who had begun to develop dementia and repeatedly groped all the private nurses who had been employed to look after him. The problem was so bad that five nurses had walked out and word had got around and now no nurses would come to the house. Dafydd’s secretary was ever so sympathetic and said that perhaps a bed in one of Dafydd’s nursing homes was indeed the answer. The distraught gentleman asked of he should leave his details and his father-in-law’s name – it was of course ‘Dafydd Alun Jones’. The secretary screamed with laughter, sounded as though she had nearly fallen off her chair and then put the phone down.

‘We didn’t know.’

You all knew and the reason why you all joined in the bellyaching about ‘dangerous patients’ was that the patients had begin to discover the extent of Dafydd’s criminality and were finding out who was helping him.

An e mail that I received some time ago suggested that in a region like north Wales, a major trafficking ring would have needed the collusion of the ‘police surgeons’ – which was the grandiose term for local GPs who would attend the police station if the police thought that it was necessary. The police surgeons were undoubtedly colluding with Dafydd and the paedophiles. My post ‘Hippocratic Oath Or Hypocritic Oaf?’ detailed the conduct of a police surgeon, Dr K. Shah, who, after what must have been the only honest social worker in Gwynedd refused to section me just because Dafydd told her to do so, told Sgt Morgan of Bangor Police Station to unlawfully keep me in the cells whilst Shah rang around and found a social worker that would do what they were told. Shah was a GP in Menai Bridge who was in a GP practice with Dr P.W. White, another paedophiles’ friend. On another occasion on which Dafydd and the paedophiles had me arrested, another police surgeon turned up. As usual I was not given his name, no-one was ever given anyone’s names. He didn’t conduct himself like Shah, he was quite pleasant and good-humoured, but he certainly knew all about Dafydd’s less reputable activities because he sat there joking about them. He didn’t section me, but left the police station. Yet no-one let me go. Once more I was held illegally for hours ‘because Dr DA is coming to see you’. Dafydd turned up at about midnight, crashed through the doors and said to me ‘I think ewe should be in prisssson’. Why, he did not explain. I didn’t end up in prison, Dafydd’s Cunning Plan was foiled, although I was kept at the police station overnight and kicked out the next day. The police surgeon who had joked about Dafydd’s idiocy did not raise any concerns regarding what was happening.

Dr D.G.E. Wood was one of the police surgeons. So of course police surgeons were colluding with Dafydd and the paedophiles, Wood was one of them.

My correspondent – who is a Top Doctor himself – made the point that much of the police surgeons’ work is related to the use of alcohol and drugs. Which hadn’t occurred to me. Corrupt Top Doctors working in that domain would certainly be able to cause havoc for patients in custody. Furthermore Dafydd was north Wales’s ‘substance abuse consultant’.

On one occasion, in Caernarfon Police Station in about 2003, a police surgeon was called – after the mental health services had once again had me arrested on the basis of the perjury of their own staff – who seemed incredibly nice. He talked to me at length, stated his opinion frankly that the Hergest Unit was so unsafe that patients should not be there. As he left he told me that he was so unhappy at ‘what has happened to you today’ that he would be leaving a log of his concerns on the police record. It was another three years or so before my lawyers extracted my records, but although I’ve found the paperwork and the police records relating to that occasion, there is no record of this GP having seen me. Whether he was yet another person who was frightened and just told me a lie or whether he did make a record and it disappeared I don’t know.

The other service which was fully on board with the sex trafficking ring in north Wales was the Ambulance Service. I have mentioned before that the abducted always arrived at Denbigh under cover of darkness, in the middle of the night. Everyone ended up there after being unlawfully arrested, but they were never taken to Denbigh by the police, it was always by ambulance. Furthermore, although the abducted were usually arrested during daylight hours, for some reason an ambulance was never available until after about 10 pm. Well police cars would have  been noticed wouldn’t they. And as with Angels and Top Doctors who are vital cogs in a people trafficking gang, Ambulances can be wrapped up as part of a ‘caring’ NHS, rather than a punitive police response. It was of course Alun Davies, the manager of the Hergest Unit, who wrote that splendid letter and CC’d it to other managers and Top Docs, explaining that it was helpful that I had agreed to see Tony Francis because that would give Gwynedd Health Authority the appearance of taking a ‘caring’ attitude to me, which would stand them in good stead with the magistrates the ‘next time that we prosecute her’. I wasn’t facing any charges when Davies wrote that letter, but it wasn’t long before I was.

In north Wales I knew of a violent wife-beating ambulanceman who was abusive to one of his neighbours who was a Hergest patient and was also very abusive to his own step-daughter who was a mental health patient. His long suffering second wife finally escaped from him and told me that she suspected that he might well have killed his first wife. His first wife ‘had a breakdown’, was taken to Denbigh and on the day that she was released was later found drowned on Denbigh moors. The ambulanceman had collected her – in his ambulance no less, not in the family car – and on the way home, she had ‘gone mad’, overpowered him, run away and must have drowned herself.

I knew of other people who became paramedics in north Wales who I certainly would not have wanted to be in the back of an ambulance with, but north Wales doesn’t seem to be alone where dangerous ambulancemen are concerned. In 1978 a 13 yr old newspaper boy in the West Midlands, Carl Bridgewater, was shot dead on an isolated farm. Four men were subsequently imprisoned for Carl’s murder, but it was admitted in the end that they had been framed by the notoriously corrupt West Midlands Serious Crime Squad and after many years languishing in prison they were released. Subsequent investigations suggested that Carl’s murderer was suspected to have been an ambulanceman who was allowed to do pretty much anything that he wanted when ‘on duty’ and who also had a supply of caring NHS colleagues who lied to the police and fabricated documentation when questioned (see post ‘More Than Politics And Local Government’).

At the time that Carl was killed, nearby in Staffordshire, there was serious child abuse. An Inquiry was subsequently held, Chaired by paedophiles’ friends Barbara Khan and Allen Levy QC, which admitted serious abuse but not as serious as it was. The most high-profile figure in the Staffordshire Pindown Scandal was a social worker called Tony Latham, who sounded remarkably like Gwynedd’s own Keith Fearns. Latham was a poorly qualified ‘team leader’, aggressive and intimidating to both clients and colleagues and the focus of complaints that were not investigated. Latham also ran a number of businesses which were completely unrelated to social work and were rather odd. As did Keith Fearns. Fearns ran a B&B which is not a weird thing to do, but Fearns hated the human race, it’s not as if he would want to entertain strangers, but most intriguingly, Fearns for years ran a fancy dress hire company. I never worked out what it was all about, but at the bottom of Fearns’s drive was a big sign advertising fancy dress hire. If anyone can think of any reason why a perjuring people trafficker would be hiring out fancy dress, please let me know. It was fancy dress, rather than disguises or plastic surgery to change Fearns’s appearance when he escaped to South America, he could hardly escape justice dressed up as Marie-Antoinette.

Recent comments left on this blog mentioned that Greville Janner seemed to have used Jewish networks to protect himself. Janner and Leo Abse both certainly did this, but I don’t think that it can therefore be concluded that there is a particular problem with child abuse in the Jewish community. Abusive people utilise whatever networks to which they have access in order to use as umbrellas. In north Wales, Dafydd and co used political parties, the National Eisteddfod, the International Eisteddfod, the various churches and chapels, the choirs, Welsh language groups, indeed just about everything. Then there were the charidees and wimmin’s groups who were concealing Dafydd and the paedophiles. English people tended to point at ‘Welsh’ things and scream, but sadly Dafydd et al had such a grip on the region that the whole of society had been corrupted.

The paedophiles’ friends in the Bangor area congregated at the Bangor Golf Club. There was a contingent of people in the area who made a point of playing at the Beaumaris Golf Club rather than Bangor and I did wonder if it might have been because they felt so uncomfortable at Bangor Golf Club. Or of course they might have had their own scam going over at Beaumaris. Bob Ingham, Keith Fearns’s henchman in the Arfon Community Mental Health Team, could be found playing golf at Bangor Golf Club when he was supposed to be on duty, a number of members of the clique who hung around the NHS managers in Gwynedd also spent their leisure time at Bangor Golf Club, as did Elwyn Jones, the corrupt Bangor solicitor who was a paedophiles’ friend and who doubled up as Treasurer of Bangor University. Elwyn Jones was so enthusiastic about Bangor Golf Club that I would see him in Bangor Magistrates Court – he always gave the impression of being completely uninterested in his clients and not very competent either – and he would be doing nothing but telling the other solicitors and court officials how he was looking forward to getting onto the golf course after court. I would watch Elwyn Jones do the absolute bare minimum for his clients – even those in a state who were facing a possible prison sentence – and the minute that the case had finished, he’d shoot out of the door and head for the golf course.

I used to think that Elwyn Jones must have been the most boring old fart in Bangor, but I didn’t realise that Bangor Golf Club was one of the prime networking sites for the paedophiles’ friends. Which made a syndrome that I noticed in the mid-1990s very worrying. Golf became very popular among boys of about 10-12 yrs old in the Bangor area. Someone was vigorously promoting golf as a nice thing that dads could do with their sons if the boys were approaching adolescence. Obviously, the dads went to the golf club with their sons, but then as the boys got more confident on the course and became keener and keener and the poor old dads needed a rest, the boys were told that of course they could come and play golf by themselves. I used to chat to a boy at the Bethesda bus stop who would tell me all about it. I was a bit surprised that a boy of 11 or 12 would want to spend his time with Elwyn Jones and the old farts of Bangor, but now I know what that golf club was being used for I find it horrifying.

So let’s name another in hiding who knew what Dafydd and the paedophile gang were up to.

Here’s a surprise for everyone – as it was for me when I realised: Dr Lyndon Miles, a GP in Bangor who arrived in Gwynedd in about 1983-84. Dr Miles was the Vice-Chair of the Betsi Board when it was led by Mary Burrows who was doing her best to challenge the paedophiles friends and the BMA in north Wales – or at least I think that she was. I knew damn well that the paedophiles’ friends were trying to sabotage the new Board and there were knives going into people’s backs all over the place. What I didn’t know at the time was that Edwina Hart, the Health Minister, who loathed the paedophiles’ friends herself, was of course deeply compromised because of her previous in the TUC – and as a member of the Swansea Mafia – where she had spent many years doing deals with the paedophiles’ friends to advance herself. She did exactly the same thing when she was appointed Health Minister, so she couldn’t actually get rid of them let alone arrest them, in spite of me having given her enough evidence to put some of them on trial. The rotten core remained intact, with the usual NHS solution – new job titles and new logos everywhere.

Dr Lyndon Miles was a friend of Edwina’s. It was Lyndon’s resignation as Vice-Chair that precipitated the collapse of the newly appointed Betsi Board, which led to the return of Peter Higson, Margaret Hanson and the bestest vintage paedophiles’ friends. I witnessed Lyndon address a baying mob of paedophiles’ friends at a public meeting – the baying mob was organised by an NHS trade union rep, I arrived early, heard the plan and watched it unfold. The mob had been bussed in from Blaenau Ffestiniog no less. The baying mob were going apeshit about the proposal that newborns needing intensive care should be treated at Arrowe Park near Liverpool, rather than in north Wales. Lyndon made an excellent speech explaining that the best care was available at Arrowe Park and if he had a critically ill baby, he would want the best care for the baby. I was in agreement, because I knew that the maternity units in north Wales were dangerous, that babies and even on occasion mothers had died needlessly and that Edwina was not coming clean about this. What I didn’t know was that Dafydd and the paedophiles controlled most of the Liverpool NHS as well, including I expect Arrowe Park.

Lyndon’s resignation came as quite a surprise, especially to me. Because just two weeks previously, Lyndon had bumped into me in a cafe and told me how good it was that someone at least understood the Board’s dilemma. I told him that I thought the threats that had been made in public to the Board were very unacceptable and that I noted that no-one, not even the politicians or the media who witnessed it, had called for calm. Lyndon responded by saying that it was becoming very difficult, that the press were in full cry and were being led by Trinity Mirror group, but the Board were determined and would not crumble. It can only have been two weeks later that Lyndon resigned, causing a crisis.

So it seems that Lyndon was yet another person who was not being honest and transparent. So I’ll give Lyndon a surprise. Because I am not the sort to join a baying mob, I’ll remind Lyndon of a few things that I was keeping politely quiet about when he told me that honestly, he really had never heard anything at all about the abuse of mental health patients in north Wales. I knew Lyndon many, many years ago. As the crisis caused by the sex traffickers running the Student Health Centre reached catastrophic proportions, a lovely young doctor arrived to join the Student Health Centre and he came highly recommended to all those who had heard about the lobotomist and Wood and said ‘Christ I’m not going there’. A Dr Lyndon Miles. I never heard anyone allege that Lyndon had groped them, propositioned them or treated them so brutally that they attempted suicide. Lyndon was always charm itself and his patients liked him. But Lyndon knew what Wood and Gwynne Williams were doing and he let them carry on doing it. Even when one of his patients was murdered by the gang. It was my housemate Anne. Anne and I had many conversations, she knew what had happened to me and I heard a lot about her consultations with Lyndon. They murdered her Lyndon and I bet that you realised that.

Lyndon had another patient who was ruined by the gang as well. A Bangor student who developed mental health problems who was literally passed around the junior gynaecologists at Ysbyty Gwynedd. She became pregnant by two different junior doctors and she was coerced into an abortion by them each time. They arranged the abortion – in a area of the UK which prided itself at that time on having so many Top Docs and others who were anti-abortion that they had made it virtually impossible for women to access abortions on the NHS – and when she told them that she didn’t want an abortion, on both occasions the solution was the same. She was found a bed in the psych ward at Ysbyty Gwynedd, by her very helpful GP, Dr Lyndon Miles, where she was left alone and distressed whilst pressure was applied from all staff to have a termination because how would a girl like her ever look after a baby? Within two days of having the terminations, she was discharged by Tony Francis with no aftercare. Other staff and patients were told not to have anything to do with her because she really was a dreadful character (see post ‘Another Case Of ‘Not Knowing’?).

Terrible girl actually – with a First, who was winning national poetry competitions, kind-hearted, sensitive and who could have had a few people in prison if anyone had ever treated her complaints as they should have.

Happy memories Dr Miles! Take a hint – don’t ever be so fucking stupid as to do a deal with a paedophile ring and a Health Minister who isn’t as savvy as she thinks that she is again.

Dr Miles is Chair of the Board of Trustees at St David’s Hospice in Llandudno, an institution governed and managed by the paedophiles’ friends since it’s inception.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, someone has made a complaint about Dafydd et al. Cue the NHS Independent Professional Review, Chaired by Professor Robert Bluglass:

No One Is Innocent

BBC News Wales, the ‘Daily Post’ and the ‘Western Mail’ have reported that 71 year old Bryan Davies has been found guilty at Mold Crown Court of 29 historical sex offences against boys who lived at the ‘private children’s home’ Ystrad Hall in Llangollen in the late 1970s, where Bryan Davies was Deputy Principal.

Yes, Bryan Davies is one who has been apprehended as a result of Operation Pallial. During the trial three more men came forward to say that they’d been abused by Davies as boys. The Operation Pallial team re-interviewed eight other men who had previously made complaints against Davies.

Davies was initially arrested in Oct 2013 in relation to him contacting three boys over the internet and inciting them to take part in sexual acts. While on bail Davies fled to Malta but was arrested under a European arrest warrant and extradited to the UK. Davies had been living in Sussex.

It was reported that Bryan Davies went on the run during the trial, was found in an hotel in Folkestone, slit his throat and was taken to King’s College Hospital in order to be operated on. I think that is why sentencing has not taken place yet. Davies is due to be sentenced on June 1.

Bryan Davies is one of those who was somehow not apprehended by the 1991-93 North Wales Police investigation into the abuse of children in care and of course the £13 million Waterhouse Inquiry also missed Bryan Davies. From what is being reported, boys complained about Davies assaulting them years ago. So there is now a 71 year old paedophile in King’s College Hospital following a suicide attempt.

I have argued previously on this blog that pursuing the now elderly sex offenders who were afforded complete protection by every part of the British state whilst witnesses and victims were murdered is farcical. However, it seems that Bryan Davies has continued his sex offending into old age, so yes, bringing him to trial can be justified because he was still active.

Sadly many of the people who knew about Bryan Davies’s offences years ago and protected him will never stand trial because they were all guaranteed legal indemnity if they agreed to give evidence at the Waterhouse Inquiry, even if they lied. For example these people:

Dr Dafydd Alun Jones

Cledwyn Williams

Lucille Hughes

Neither will the people who protected the people pictured above ever stand trial.

Such as the man on the left in this photo:

Old Warwickians - 1940s-1960s School House Dinner

Or indeed this man, who spends his days in the Lords:
William Hague Foreign Secretary (2010).jpg

Neither will any of the many people who looked the other way as some of us were screaming as loudly as we could ever stand trial. Such as:

Michael Mansfield QC 04.jpg

Many others who passed by on the other side can be found in the Commons, in the Lords, running the UK’s health and care system or in the Inns of Court. I’m sure that they will be delighted at the conviction of one 71 year old man and use this to reassure us that there is Zero Tolerance re sex offences in our nation.

Another glass of champagne Professor Bluglass?

My post ‘Feet In Chains’ suggested that Dafydd, the paedophiles and their friends should all be detained in one of Dafydd’s own ‘nursing homes’ under the Mental Capacity or Mental Health Act – they would be treated far worse in there than they ever would be in prison. If pigs started flying and Dafydd was ever put on trial and imprisoned, he would be one of those celebrity prisoners who receive special treatment because of their links with organised crime, such as Ronnie Kray did when he was in Broadmoor. When it was revealed that Ronnie Kray was being supplied with luxuries and privileges and that the Angels of Broadmoor deferred to him, a number of politicians appeared in the media fuming.  What did they expect? Jimmy Savile and his mate had been appointed managers – by Thatcher’s Health Minister Trumpers – and two of the civil service mandarins in the Dept of Health at the time were known associates of paedophiles (see posts ‘Socio-Political Context Of The North Wales Mental Health Services In The 1980s’ and ‘The Old Devils’). Furthermore, it was Top Doctors like Dafydd and Bluglass who decided who ended up in Broadmoor and it was their Top Doctor mates at Broadmoor who decided what ‘treatment programmes’ patients were placed on.

Whilst pondering on the Ronnie Kray and Broadmoor business, I remembered another high profile villain of yesteryear who did so well out of the inadequacies of the British criminal justice system that I can only conclude that, like Ronnie Kray – who was mates with various well-connected people such as Lord Bob Boothby, the bisexual swinging Conservative politician who had an affair with Harold Macmillan’s wife Dorothy as well as a great many other people – this man had help from people in high places. I am thinking of Ronnie Biggs.

My post ‘So Who Was Angry About What?’ mentions that in late 1962/early 1963, two west country farmers in financial difficulties received a letter from a London solicitor inviting them to a meeting where they ‘would hear something to their benefit’. The farmers had barely visited London in their lives and had never heard of the solicitor, Theodore Goddard. They were then visited by a rep of Theodore Goddard who offered them cash to the value of their farm but didn’t actually want to buy it off them. Theodore Goddard wanted them to move out of the farm for a few months, allow the clients of Theodore Goddard to ‘use the farm’ and then move back in. The farmers were terrified and presumed that they were dealing with crooks, so refused the generous offer. The farmers subsequently put their farm on the market and as they were shifting all their stuff out, the farmer’s wife told me that Theodore Goddard turned up again with literally cases of used notes, telling them what idiots they were not to do the deal. The Great Train Robbery happened months later and the farmers noticed the similarity of the farm used by Biggs et al to their own. They had no proof that the weird letter and worrying men from Theodore Goddard were connected to Mr Biggs et al but they never stopped wondering. They kept the letter for years which was how they were able to give me details of what was in it.

A further twist was that one reason why the farmers had ended up in such financial difficulty was that they had done business with a company of which Harold Macmillan’s son was a Director and they had been ripped off – along with a lot of other farmers. The company had contracted farmers to breed and raise pigs on their behalf, but no-one was ever paid – I was told that it was quite a well-known scandal at the time and that a lot of people lost a lot of money, after having been duped into doing business with a company starring Maurice Macmillan, because after all he was the PM’s son, so it had to be OK.

I was reminded of all this last summer when I read a biography of Bertrand Russell. Russell used his solicitors to really shaft people, including his own son John, who had mental health problems. Russell’s solicitors were Theodore Goddard. My post ‘So Who Was Angry About What?’ details the trail of havoc and broken lives that Russell left in his wake and his highly sexually exploitative ways. Members of Russell’s family had a penchant for acquiring diagnoses of schizophrenia and Russell was always ready to stress their unacceptable and unfathomable behaviour and what a trial for him it was to have Mental Illness In The Family. People close to Russell’s Mad Relatives told a story of Russell behaving appallingly, of abuse and intimidation and of Top Docs being asked by Russell to bang up those bloody relatives who were making such a nuisance of themselves.

One of Russell’s relatives who had a particularly hard time was his granddaughter Lucy, who set fire to herself and as a result died at the age of 26. Lucy had been virtually brought up by Russell, after he succeeded in having her father deemed as too crackers to have custody of his own daughter. Like her dad, Lucy was told that she had schizophrenia. Before this diagnosis Lucy had told people that she felt very uncomfortable about her grandfather’s behaviour towards her…

Russell spent his later years living at Penrhyndeudraeth in what is now Gwynedd. It was there that Lucy lived with him for extended periods of time. The area in which Russell lived was an interesting one sociologically because of the presence of an Anglo-Welsh aristocrat nearby, Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. Clough owned an estate in Cwm Croesor and let his properties out to his friends – many of whom were well-known bohemians, activists and writers – during the middle years of the 20th century. A great many well-known people passed through Cwm Croesor. The most famous ones were people like Eric Hobsbawm and E.P. Thompson, but a bit of digging throws up a picture of, it seems, nearly every high profile artist/writer/activist crashing out there for at least some time. They were referred to as the Welsh Bloomsbury set.

Some of Clough’s circle were moneyed aristocrats. I recently purchased an extract from Bertrand Russell’s diaries in which he recorded his visits to Clough’s place with his friends and most of those mentioned are landowning gentry from across north Wales, such as Lord and Lady Aberconway. Russell also spent time with Woodrow Wyatt – Wyatt was a man who, although he was a Labour MP, ended up as an adviser to and friend of Margaret Thatcher (An Appalling Vista’).

So Cwm Croesor attracted a curious mix of posh people, bohemians, Communists and peace activists, some of whom wanted to start a revolution. Then there were the local people – Welsh speakers who worked in quarrying or farming. Croesor was probably the first Welsh speaking area in north Wales to experience mass inward migration of English people. I collected data for a community study of Croesor some six years ago and I found that although at one time the local people seemed to live quite harmoniously with the visitors, by the early 1970s relationships had become quite fraught. Various people made various suggests as to why that was, but I don’t want to publish that here.

What is salient regarding this blog is that I discovered that Dafydd et al had impacted on Croesor. Which is hardly surprising – Dafydd and Gwynne the lobotomist impacted everywhere. In 1964 the social anthropologist Isabel Emmett published ‘A North Wales Village: A Social Anthropological Study’, a community study of Llanfrothen, the village just down the road from Croesor. Isabel was a social anthropologist from Manchester University who married a man from Llanfrothen and she knew the community well. Her book caused a degree of aggro because some of the villagers felt that she’d sleighted them. Isabel mentioned for example that there was a high rate of illegitimacy in this Nonconformist Welsh speaking village. One of the villagers made the point to me in defence of his village’s reputation that ‘all those illegitimate children belonged to one mother’.

Another book was written about life in Croesor by Philip O’Connor, ‘Living In Croesor’ and another of the writers who lived there wrote a novel based on people whom he knew in the village.

Material written about Croesor/Llanfrothen often contains the observation that there was a degree of distress and dysfunction on the part of some people in the area. That is of course true of everywhere, but in some of the relationships between people in Croesor/Llanfrothen there were substantial power differentials. Isabel’s book mentions that certain Top Doctors and lawyers in the wider region were in such powerful positions that people really did fear crossing their paths, because ruination would result. When I read that, I immediately wondered ‘Dafydd and Gwynne?’ I now wonder ‘William Mars-Jones?’ as well.

Then I read a terribly sad account of a young woman who had been taken down to Croesor by her new husband in the 1950s/60s, a man much older than her, where they lived in very difficult circumstances. Or at least she did. He buried himself in his poetry and writing, drank very heavily and went out to see his mates. He then left her for another woman. What happened to her? Er – she was declared mad and taken to the North Wales Hospital where she stayed until it closed decades later. Or as we now know, until only parts of the hospital closed. She was finally released in the 1990s, an old lady, who was parked in Betws-y-Coed to live out her days. The precipitating factor that caused this woman’s crisis was, I seem to remember, a pregnancy that her husband wasn’t too happy about…

I know enough about Dafydd and Gwynne to know that influential yet exploitative/abusive people with money who might want to shut someone up would find Dafydd and Gwynne very useful. Bertrand Russell was living at Penrhyndeudraeth when he was informing Theodore Goddard that members of his family were insane and should be locked up in their own interests.

Dafydd! Did you perchance ever have dealings with a Nobel Prize winning polymath peace campaigning friend of Tariq Ali who wasn’t quite what the wider world thought that he was? I think we should be told.

I was told by one of my interviewees that there had been a big problem in the area because until – I think – 1968, there was no Welsh speaking social worker available, so Welsh people were being hauled off to the North Wales Hospital Denbigh on the basis of an interview conducted in a foreign language. An advance had allegedly been made when a Welsh speaking social worker was appointed, from the locality. Of course I think that people should be assessed in a language that they speak – and feel comfortable with – if they are at risk of being hauled off to an asylum. But this is Dafydd and Gwynne we are talking about. They could have offered interviews in English, Welsh and Japanese and decisions would still not have been taken in the best interests of the patient.

Dafydd and Gwynne were running a hell-hole with a dungeon in which they incarcerated the victims of a paedophile gang. The Welsh-speaking social worker would have been working for Dafydd and Gwynne.

I was not given the name of the Welsh speaking social worker who’s presence at Croesor was supposed to constrain the activities of the paedophiles’ friends, but in about 2004 I had an encounter with a Welsh speaking social worker who lived in Croesor.

This was at the height of my battles with the Arfon Community Mental Health Team, after I had narrowly escaped prison following yet another attempt to frame me and after many years of enduring Keith Fearns’s unpleasantness and harassment in the face of Gwynedd Social Services flat refusal to take action against Fearns.

So some thirteen years ago I decided to try and obtain a copy of my records from Gwynedd Social Services. Someone had told me that Fearns et al now had a new manager who was actually trying to address their dreadful conduct. That manager was a man called Merfyn Hughes (full name Thomas Merfyn Hughes). I ended up having a phone conversation with Mr Hughes – it was a fraught conversation because Mr Hughes insisted on referring to me as a ‘service user’. I told him that I wasn’t a ‘service user’, I was a human being and furthermore I had never received a ‘service’ from Fearns and the Arfon Team, only constant aggro. However to be fair to him, Mr Hughes told me that he would request a copy of the records that the Arfon Team had compiled on me (even though I had never been a ‘client’ of theirs). Further telephone calls to Mr Hughes revealed that the Arfon Team were ignoring his requests. So Mr Hughes told me that he would personally visit the Arfon Team’s offices and retrieve the records himself. I understand that he did do this. I did eventually receive a copy of these records, although the harassment from Fearns et al continued. However I was later told that Merfyn Hughes had never managed to get the Arfon Team under control and that he had now retired.

In 2011 I was told that a man who had once been Elfyn Llwyd’s electoral agent (Llwyd is a barrister and the former Plaid MP for Dwyfor Meirionydd) had been found dead in rather strange circumstances. This job description didn’t mean anything to me – but I was then told his name, Merfyn Hughes and that he’d been a social worker with Gwynedd. I realised that this was the man who had braved Fearns and extracted my files in person.

I googled the story and found this newspaper report detailing Mr Hughes’s death http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/local-news/man-died-after-falling-down-1845258

So the inquest at Caernarfon held by the notorious Dewi Pritchard Jones  heard that Merfyn had been drinking in the Bron Danw Arms and that the pub landlord had said that he ‘wasn’t sober’. He left the pub at 2 am to walk home. He never got home – his body was found 36 hours later in the garden of somebody else’s house, behind a greenhouse, at the bottom of an embankment and could not be seen from the road or the house. Detective Inspector Brian Kearney stated that there were marks on the footpath above the embankment consistent with someone having rolled down the embankment and that one of Mr Hughes’s shoelaces was undone. A postmortem showed no signs of a head injury and tests showed little alcohol in his blood at the time of death. Pathologist Mark Lord said that death was due to hypothermia.

Dewi recorded a verdict of accidental death and then reached a quite extraordinary conclusion as to how Mr Hughes’s death occurred, even by Dewi’s standards – ‘he somehow slipped and fell down the embankment but nothing to show he tried to get out. It appears that he fell asleep, the cold took over and he later died’. Now I don’t know about Dewi, but if I fell down an embankment in the early hours of the morning and landed in someone else’s garden, I don’t think that I’d then decide to have a nap on the spot rather than try to get out. And even if I did make such a decision I very much doubt that I’d be able to get such a good night’s sleep that I’d die of hypothermia somewhere along the way. And if the pub landlord had stated that Merfyn ‘wasn’t sober’, why was there ‘little alcohol’ in his blood at the time of death? It’s also fascinating that at some point after falling down the embankment, going to sleep and dying, Mr Hughes managed to conceal his body behind a greenhouse in a spot where it could not be seen from the road or house.

People in Gwynedd have become used to reading Dewi’s bizarre speculations when people with mental health problems have been found dead – but it would seem that people working in the mental health services are also found dead in inexplicable circumstances, only for Dewi Pritchard Jones to conjure up a most unlikely explanation for their death.

Anyone for re-opening an investigation into Merfyn Hughes’s death? Let alone for doing a bit of digging regarding the identity of the tame Top Doctor whom Bertrand Russell had on tap and finding out how many vulnerable people who had been stung by Russell’s mates were hauled off to Denbigh, suffering from the vapours/a wandering womb/spermattorrhea/cottage ignition syndrome/paranoid schizophrenia/manic depressive insanity or other serious conditions that Europe’s leading forensic psychiatrist knows all about?

‘Denbigh is unique’ – Dafydd, circa 1994.

To return to Ronnie Biggs, who may perhaps have known a firm of solicitors called Theodore Goddard.

John Theodore Goddard founded the law firm bearing his name based in London. The firm merged with Addleshaw Booth & Co in May 2003 to become Addleshaw Goddard. Theodore Goddard was the solicitor appointed by Wallis Simpson as an adviser to her during divorce proceedings. When King Edward VIII’s intention to marry Wallis became known, Goddard became closely involved in the abdication negotiations, at the behest of PM Stanley Baldwin. Goddard personally negotiated with Wallis, the King and the PM.

Theodore Goddard’s early reputation enabled him to attract as a valuable client the newly created office of the Public Trustee. It was the Public Trustee who collaborated with Dafydd when he fleeced Mary Wynch decades later.

John Theodore Goddard retired as senior partner in 1950 and died in 1952. The 1950s saw a period of further growth through amalgamation with, in particular, the City firm of Deacons & Pritchard (founded in 1834) and the firm of Rhys Roberts & Co (founded in 1883 by future PM David Lloyd George, a partner of the firm until his Parliamentary duties grew too burdensome).

The firm was again caught up in the Profumo Affair. In 1963, then senior partner Derek Clogg was instructed by Profumo. At the time of the Profumo Affair, Lord Astor was married to his third wife, Bronwen. Bronwen went to school in Dolgellau and was the daughter of a Welsh judge. See post ‘In Memoriam – Bronwen, Lady Astor’ for details of the Profumo Affair, the involvement of Trumpers and others. Theodore Goddard & Co was referred to in Hansard as ‘a solicitor of the highest reputation and widest experience’ who ‘has had great experience in cases dealing with libel, with divorce and all those matters where human frailty and possible lying may come into account’. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Theodore Goddard & Co attracted many company clients and the commercial side of the practice grew rapidly.

More recently Theodore Goddard has retained a strong media and entertainment law practice alongside a private client capability (including private tax work for members of The Rolling Stones and David Bowie). The firm occasionally gave rise to high-profile cases involving celebrities including the firm’s instruction in relation to the ‘Hello!’ magazine dispute over photographs of Catherine Zeta-Jones wedding to and its appointment by Michael Jackson to advise on the ‘Living With Michael’ documentary.

Ronnie Biggs was born in Lambeth and in 1947, at age 18, Biggs enlisted in the RAF. He was dishonourably discharged two years later, after breaking into a local chemist shop. One month after that, he was convicted of stealing a car and sentenced to prison. On his release, he took part in a failed robbery attempt of a bookmaker office in Lambeth. During his incarceration in HMP Wandsworth, he met Bruce Reynolds, The Brains in the Great Train Robbery.

After his third prison sentence, Biggs tried to go straight and trained as a carpenter. In Feb 1960, he married Charmian. Biggs, who needed money to fund a deposit on the purchase of a house for his family, was working on the house of a train driver who was about to retire. The driver’s real name is unknown, since he was never caught. He was the one who introduced Biggs to the train robbery plot.

The gang then stopped the mail train from Glasgow to London in the early hours of 8 Aug 1963. The robbery yielded the participants £2.6 million (equivalent to £49 million in 2017); Biggs’s share was £147,000 (equivalent to £2,824,900 in 2018). Three weeks later, Biggs was arrested in South London, along with 11 other members of the gang. In 1964, nine of the 15-strong gang, including Biggs, were jailed for the crime. Most received sentences of 30 years. Lord Edmund-Davies was the judge who presided over the trial and many thought that the sentences were too severe. Edmund-Davies was one of the paedophiles’ friends of Wales.

Biggs served 15 months before escaping from Wandsworth Prison on 8 July 1965, scaling the wall with a rope ladder and dropping onto a waiting removal van. He fled to Brussels by boat, then sent a note to his wife to join him in Paris where he had acquired new identity papers and was undergoing plastic surgery. During his time in prison, Charmian had started an extramarital relationship and was pregnant by the time of his escape to the Continent. Choosing to support her husband, she had an illegal abortion in London and then travelled with their two sons to Paris to join Biggs.

So thus far, it sounds as though there were some helpful prison officers who didn’t see anything or hear anything and some Top Docs willing to assist without asking questions.

In 1966, Biggs fled to Australia. By that time Biggs and his family had spent all but £7,000 (equivalent to £119,700 in 2018) of his £147,000 share of the train robbery proceeds: £40,000 (equivalent to £683,800 in 2018) on plastic surgery in Paris; £55,000 (equivalent to £940,200 in 2018) paid as a package deal to get him out of the UK to Australia; and the rest on legal fees and expenses.

LEGAL FEES?? He was an escaped robber…Was the bill from Theodore Goddard?

In 1967, Biggs received an anonymous letter from Britain telling him that Interpol suspected that he was in Australia, so he moved from Sydney to Melbourne. Biggs had a number of jobs in Melbourne before undertaking set construction work at the Channel 9 TV studios. In Oct 1969, a newspaper report by a Reuters correspondent revealed that Biggs was living in Melbourne and claimed that police were closing in on him. Biggs fled his home, staying with family friends in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Five months later, he fled on a passenger liner from the Port of Melbourne, using the altered passport of a friend; his wife and sons remained in Australia. Twenty days later, the ship berthed in Panama and within two weeks Biggs had flown to Brazil.

Following disclosure of Biggs’ fathering a child in Brazil, Charmian agreed to a divorce which was completed in 1976. Allowed by authorities to remain in Australia, she sold her story for £40,000 to an Australian media group to enable her to purchase the rented house that the family had lived in at the time of Biggs’s flight to Brazil. Charmian later became an editor, publisher and journalist. Her sons—who later visited Biggs a few times in Brazil— live anonymously. In 2012 Charmian acted as a consultant on the five-part ITV Studios docu-drama Mrs Biggs.

In 1970, when Biggs arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil did not have an extradition treaty with the UK. In 1974, ‘Daily Express’ reporter Colin MacKenzie received information suggesting that Biggs was in Rio de Janeiro. This confirmed and the story broke. Jack Slipper of the Yard arrived soon afterwards, but Biggs could not be extradited because his girlfriend, nightclub dancer Raimunda de Castro, was pregnant. Brazilian law at the time did not allow a parent of a Brazilian child to be extradited.

During 1974, in Rio, Biggs, collaborated others to record Mailbag Blues, a musical narrative of his life that he intended to use as a movie soundtrack. This album was left undiscovered until it was finally released in 2004 by whatmusic.com.

In April 1977 Biggs attended a cocktail party on board a Royal Navy frigate which was in Rio for a courtesy visit, but he was not arrested. Though in Brazil he was safe from extradition, Biggs’s status as a known felon meant he could not work, visit bars or be away from home after 10:00 p.m. To provide an income, Biggs’s family hosted barbecues at his home in Rio, where tourists could meet Biggs and hear him recount his involvement in the robbery. Biggs was even visited by former footballer Stanley Matthews. Around this time, “Ronnie Biggs” mugs, coffee cups and T-shirts also appeared throughout Rio.

Biggs recorded vocals on two songs for ‘The Great Rock and Roll Swindle’, Julien Temple’s film about the Sex Pistols. Not only did Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungeon come to their ends in questionable circumstances, but one who knew them, Adam Ant aka Stuart Goddard, had some very bad experiences with the Top Docs, experiences which Stuart Goddard was prevented from talking about in the media.

In March 1981, Biggs was kidnapped by a gang of British ex-soldiers. The boat they took him aboard suffered mechanical problems off Barbados and the stranded kidnappers and Biggs were rescued by the Barbados coastguard and towed into port. The kidnappers hoped to collect a reward from the British police; however, like Brazil, Barbados was found to have had no valid extradition treaty with the United Kingdom (a fact which chess player David Levy claimed to have paid lawyers to unearth) and Biggs was sent back to Brazil. In Feb 2006, Channel 4 aired a documentary featuring dramatisations of the attempted kidnapping and interviews with the ex-British Army soldier who carried it out. The ITN reporter Desmond Hamill paid to accompany Biggs on the private Learjet returning him to Brazil and secured an exclusive interview.

Biggs’s son by de Castro, Michael Biggs, eventually became a member of a successful children’s programme and music band, bringing a new source of income to his father. In a short time, however, the band faded into obscurity, leaving father and son in financial difficulty again.

In 1991, Biggs sang vocals for a German punk band and in 1993, Biggs sang on three tracks for an album by an Argentinian punk band.

In 1997 the UK and Brazil ratified an extradition treaty. Two months later, the UK Gov’t made a formal request to the Brazilian Gov’t for Biggs’s extradition. Biggs had stated that he would no longer oppose extradition. English lawyer Nigel Sangster QC travelled to Brazil to advise Biggs. The extradition request was rejected by the Brazilian Supreme Court, giving Biggs the right to live in Brazil for the rest of his life.

In 2001 Biggs announced to ‘The Sun’ newspaper that he would be willing to return to the UK. Having 28 years of his sentence left to serve, Biggs was aware that he would be detained upon arrival in Britain. His trip back on a private jet was paid for by ‘The Sun’, which reportedly paid Michael Biggs, Ronnie’s son, £20,000 plus other expenses in return for exclusive rights to the news story. Biggs arrived on 7 May 2001, whereupon he was immediately arrested and re-imprisoned.

Michael said that, contrary to some press reports, Biggs did not return to the UK simply to receive health care. On 14 November 2001, Biggs petitioned Governor Hynd of HMP Belmarsh for early release on compassionate grounds based on his poor health. He had been treated four times at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich in less than six months. His health was deteriorating rapidly and he asked to be released into the care of his son for his remaining days. The application was denied. On 10 Aug 2005, it was reported that Biggs had contracted MRSA. His representatives, seeking for his release on grounds of compassion, said that their client’s death was likely to be imminent. On 26 Oct 2005, the Home Secretary Charles Clarke declined his appeal stating that his illness was not terminal. Home Office compassion policy is to release prisoners with three months left to live. Biggs was claimed by Michael to need a tube for feeding and to have ‘difficulty’ speaking.

On 4 July 2007, Biggs was moved from Belmarsh Prison to Norwich Prison on compassionate grounds. In Dec 2007, Biggs issued a further appeal, from Norwich Prison, asking to be released from jail to die with his family: ‘I am an old man and often wonder if I truly deserve the extent of my punishment. I have accepted it and only want freedom to die with my family and not in jail. I hope Mr. Straw decides to allow me to do that. I have been in jail for a long time and I want to die a free man. I am sorry for what happened. It has not been an easy ride over the years. Even in Brazil I was a prisoner of my own making. There is no honour to being known as a Great Train Robber. My life has been wasted.’

In Jan 2009, after a series of strokes that were said to have rendered him unable to speak or walk, it was claimed in the press that Biggs was to be released in Aug 2009 and would die a ‘free man’. Michael had also claimed that the Parole Board might bring the release date forward to July 2009. On 13 Feb 2009, it was reported that Biggs had been taken to hospital from his cell at Norwich Prison, suffering from pneumonia. This was confirmed the following day by Michael, who said Biggs had serious pneumonia but was stable. News of his condition prompted fresh calls from Michael Biggs for his release on compassionate grounds.

On 23 April the Parole Board recommended that Biggs be released on 4 July, having served a third of his 30-year sentence. However, on 1 July Jack Straw did not accept the Parole Board’s recommendation and refused parole, stating that Biggs was ‘wholly unrepentant’. On 28 July 2009, Biggs was readmitted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with pneumonia. He had been admitted to the same hospital a month earlier with a chest infection and a fractured hip but returned to prison on 17 July 2009. His son said: ‘It’s the worst he’s ever been. The doctors have just told me to rush there.’

On 30 July 2009, it was claimed by representatives of Biggs that he had been given ‘permission’ to challenge the decision to refuse him parole. However, the Home Office stated only that an application for the early release on compassionate grounds of a prisoner at HMP Norwich had been received by the public protection casework section in the National Offender Management Service. Biggs was released from custody on 6 August, two days before his 80th birthday, on ‘compassionate grounds’.

Following his release from prison, Biggs’s health improved, leading to suggestions that he might soon be moved from hospital to a nursing home. In response to claims that Biggs’s state of health had been faked, his lawyer stated, ‘This man is going to die, there is going to be no Lazarus coming back from the dead, he is ill, he is seriously ill.’ Biggs himself stated, ‘I’ve got a bit of living to do yet. I might even surprise them all by lasting until Christmas, that would be fantastic.’

On 29 May 2010, Biggs was again admitted to hospital in London after complaining of chest pain. He underwent tests at Barnet General Hospital. Michael stated that ‘he’s conscious but he’s in a lot of pain’. In Aug 2010, it was claimed by the ‘Sunday Mirror’ that Biggs would be attending a gala dinner where he would be collecting a lifetime achievement award for his services to crime.

On 10 Feb 2011, Biggs was admitted to Barnet General Hospital with another suspected stroke. Michael said he was conscious and preparing to have a CT scan and a series of other tests to determine what had happened. On 17 November 2011, Biggs launched his new and updated autobiography, ‘Ronnie Biggs: Odd Man Out – The Last Straw’, at Shoreditch House, London. He was unable to speak and used a Word board to communicate with the press.

On 12 Jan 2012, ITV Studios announced it had commissioned the drama ‘Mrs Biggs’.  Charmian Biggs acted as a consultant on the series and travelled to Britain from Australia to visit Biggs in Feb 2012, just before the filming.

In March 2013, Biggs attended the funeral of fellow train robber, Bruce Reynolds. In July 2013, ‘The Great Train Robbery 50th Anniversary:1963–2013′ was published, with input from Biggs and Reynolds.

On 18 Dec 2013, aged 84, Biggs died at the Carlton Court Care Home in Barnet. The Rev Dave Tomlinson officiated at Biggs’ funeral, for which he drew public criticism; Tomlinson responded to critics by reminding everyone ‘Judge not, that ye be not judged’.

Ronnie Biggs got a rather better deal out of the British criminal justice system and certainly from the NHS than any victim of Dafydd and the paedophiles ever did. Somehow they never managed to escape from prison, although a lot of them were found dead on the ‘medical wing’ in Risley Remand Centre. They didn’t continue to live for years after Top Docs stated that they should be released on compassionate grounds because the end was imminent, indeed a lot of them told Top Docs of serious health problems only to be told in response that there was nothing wrong with them. Neither were they feted by the media. They were denounced as nutters and addicts who had been ‘feral children’ or ‘out of control’ when they were young. If they ever demonstrated that they had been fitted up for crimes, they would be reminded that they were ‘no angel’ and ‘had got away with lots of other things’. But then they didn’t have access to the services of people like Theodore Goddard.

There were people who did object very strongly to the making of a folk hero out of Ronnie Biggs, but in his defence Biggs and co reminded everyone that he was an honest thief, he never killed nobody. The son of the train driver who was coshed on the head during the robbery pointed out that his dad never recovered from his injury. Biggs’ supporters retorted that the train driver died years later of an unrelated condition. Not only do head injuries have long term devastating consequences, but the Top Docs seemed to be keen to help Biggs et al and could well have decided not to flag up the degree of damage done to the train driver.

Even if Biggs et al had not injured anyone, the thing that worries me is the number of crooked professional people who were prepared to help Biggs and his mates. At least some of them will have been among those who helped Dafydd and the paedophiles. That is why, 50 yrs after John Allen opened the Bryn Alyn Community and after two police investigations, one ‘independent’ investigation and a £13 million Judicial Inquiry into the abuse of children in care in north Wales since 1974, a 71 year old paedophile is currently in King’s College Hospital after escaping during his trial, when he was finally charged with numerous offences that he committed 40 yrs ago. And still we are told that there was no cover-up in north Wales.

Career criminals like Brains Bruce Reynolds make contacts with corrupt professional people via many routes. However I note that before he embarked on his life of crime, Reynolds worked in the Middlesex Hospital. Which was where Gwynne the lobotomist trained and which supplied an alumni network that protected him until the day that he died. In old age, of cancer. Not by hanging in Risley Remand Centre when he was 19 after he complained of being repeatedly sexually assaulted.

Other news from north Wales is that a carer at the Heddfan Unit has been jailed for more than five years after appearing in Caernarfon Crown Court for having sex with a patient ‘young enough to be his daughter’. Not just once, but on a number of occasions. Neither did this sound like a Mills and Boon hospital romance – the carer was involved in a relationship with his ex-wife as well as another woman. The patient has stated that she now realises that she was exploited. Presumably Dr Peter Higson, the Chair of the Betsi Board, is now investigating complaints of staff sexually exploiting patients. That’s a new direction – Higson ignored complaints about Dafydd doing this for years when Higson was the manager of the North Wales Hospital Denbigh. The carer concerned had worked at the Heddfan Unit since 2001.

In 2006 the Heddfan carer was convicted for ‘outraging public decency’ in a ‘flashing incident’, but the Health Board didn’t know and his employment continued. Can someone explain how his employers didn’t know about that? In 2006 the Betsi Board had not been created – the Heddfan Unit was still managed by the Welsh Gov’t, but by a previous NHS Trust. In 2006 Gangster Gibbons was Health Minister – Gangster Gibbons wrote to me at that time telling me that ‘this correspondence is closed’ when I told him that I had documentary evidence of serious criminal activity in the mental health services in north Wales. Gangster Gibbons knew as well as the rest of us that staff should have been regularly CRB checked to guard against this sort of event. So why didn’t that happen then Gibbons? Furthermore, I know that Martin Jones at the NW Wales NHS Trust wasn’t carrying out CRB checks on his staff either, two different moles told me. Until very recently Martin Jones was Director of the Workforce at the Betsi. Martin Jones’s wrongdoing was one matter about which Gangster Gibbons closed down correspondence with me. For more details on Gangster Gibbons and his deep and meaningful relationship with another fraudster of south Wales, Julian Tudor Hart, see post ‘The Human Stain’.

The sex fiend of the Heddfan Unit was not the only carer in north Wales in trouble. An ‘incompetent care worker’, Lee Woods, employed by Wrexham County Borough Council, has been struck off by a Social Care Wales fitness to practice committee, who concluded that he posed a risk to young people and could not be relied upon the deliver a service ‘to individuals’. The concerns were that Woods failed to carry out his boss’s instructions, which included failing to complete housing and welfare rights applications for clients and submitting inaccurate expense claims. Once more, I can only suppose that standards are improving. For years social workers – including senior social workers such as ‘team leader’ Keith Fearns – employed by Gwynedd Social Services flatly refused to give scores of people any ‘service’ at all. Those people did not know about the benefits to which they were entitled so they lived at sub-benefit level and had no chance of gaining accommodation unless they rented or purchased privately because to gain social housing, mental health patients in Gwynedd needed their application endorsed by the Arfon CMHT. The reason for their refusal to assist certain clients was always the same – that they had ‘upset people’. Translated that meant that they’d complained about Dafydd and the paedophiles.

I don’t know if the Arfon Team submitted fraudulent expense claims, but I’d imagine that they’d find that particular temptation hard to resist. They did used to sit in Bangor Morrison’s cafe every morning from 9-30 until 11-30 enjoying a cooked breakfast when they were supposed to be on duty down the road in their office. But then the team alcohol counsellor Tom Harney was an alcoholic who ran a pub on the north Wales coast. When the then CEO of the Betsi Mary Burrows kicked Harney out of his job for seriously neglecting his patients, Harney got a job with Dafydd’s charity CAIS. As an alcohol counsellor of course.

Members of the Arfon Team faced no action even as a result of their threats and harassment of patients until Mary Burrows launched an investigation into them some six years ago and they were subsequently all sacked for seriously neglecting clients. None of them were struck off. Keith Fearns, Julie Evans and Maggie Fookes simply set themselves up as therapists. They are still working.

The Social Care Council has only been in existence since 2016. Lee Woods had worked for WCBC since 2005. Until 2016, the body responsible for regulating Lee’s standards at work was the Care Council for Wales. There is no mention in the reports re Lee that his standards had slipped – according to WCBC he had always been hopeless, lied when he was caught out, refused to undertake training and could not be improved. The Care Council for Wales missed all that then. Who was the CEO of the Care Council for Wales throughout its entire existence? Step forward Rhian Huws Williams.

Rhian has been a paedophiles’ friend for 35 years now, as a result of her long career in social work in Wales, which began at UCNW back in the 1970s. Rhian spent some years as a training officer for mental health social work in Wales. Rhian has lived through it all – the deaths of witnesses, the police investigations, the Jillings Investigation and the Waterhouse Inquiry. She knew nuzzing. Just as she didn’t know about Lee Woods. Rhian was made a member of the Gorsedd of the Bards in 2014. She doesn’t write Cynghanedd or anything like that, so I presume that Rhian has got in there by being a mate of Dafydd’s or Robyn Lewis’s.

Teachers who are members of the NASUWT at Connah’s Quay High School have gone on strike on the grounds that they are ‘fearful’ of senior management. My post ‘I Warn You…’  describes the dreadful senior management of Holyhead School some 16 years ago – although the regime was in place for a few more years after that – by the Head Margaret Chantrell and her total fuckwit of a Deputy, Gerald Hewitson. The whole of north Wales knew how serious the problems were and the classroom teachers were being scapegoated. Most of the teachers at Holyhead were actually very good but they were constantly undermined by Chantrell and Hewitson. Chantrell and Hewitson did have one accomplice on the staff however – the vile Gill Dennis. Dennis volunteered to be a mentor for student teachers on placement from Bangor University and systematically tried to blow them all out of the water. According to Dennis, in the year in which I did teacher training (2000-01), none of the student teachers but one were sufficiently competent enough to qualify. Dennis came gunning for me as well, but I didn’t link her activities with Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends because before she even met me she tried to completely ruin the career of one student teacher who had been on placement at Holyhead School the term before me. Bangor University had to step in and protect all the student teachers whom Dennis tried to fail or force to withdraw from the course. I mentioned that there was one student whom Dennis did find acceptable – Dennis had such a high opinion of her that she told her to apply for a vacancy as a science teacher that was coming up and also told her that she would almost certainly be offered the job, so impressive was she. On the big day, this candidate was not offered the job. She never understood why. Gill Dennis later commented that she didn’t get the job because she wore a jumper for the interview rather than a blouse. (It wasn’t a Gyles Brandreth jumper – it was an upmarket lightweight jumper made of fine wool, which she wore with an equally upmarket suit.)

The irony was that Gill Dennis was very obviously rather unkempt and neglected herself. Her standard wear was nylon trousers with a plastic jacket, she was usually pretty grubby and unusually for someone in a professional job she had very bad teeth – they were well on the way to being blackened stumps. I’m not making these observations simply to kick Dennis in the chops – although she richly deserves it – but because I and another person noticed that those choppers of hers did resemble the sort of decaying teeth that long term amphetamine users often end up with…

On the day before I finished my placement at Holyhead, Gill Dennis told me that she’d had a bellyful of Holyhead School, she hated us, she didn’t care about us or the school and the only reason why she volunteered to be a mentor to the student teachers was to get a good reference from Gerald Hewitson in order to secure another job near Merseyside. Dennis didn’t even live in north Wales, she lived on the Wirral and drove to Holyhead every day.

Because Gill Dennis couldn’t actually point to anything that the trainee teachers had done wrong, she maintained that none of us should be allowed to qualify because we ‘lacked professionalism’.

Gerald Hewitson sexually harassed one of the trainee teachers whilst she was on placement at Holyhead School.

As Holyhead School finally imploded, Margaret Chantrell whined about the people of Holyhead in a media interview and complained that they were such a load of gits that they wouldn’t even support their ‘community school’. The school to which one of Chantrell’s prized members of staff commuted from her home in another country and couldn’t wait to escape.

If anyone knows the reason for Gill Dennis’s desire to destroy the careers of student teachers or whether her teeth had suffered because of amphetamine use, please let me know.

The ‘Daily Post’ has reported that raids conducted by the Merseyside Police across Merseyside, the Wirral and in Wrexham have resulted in the seizure of drugs and guns, including a machine gun.

Chris Lloyd of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue team was interviewed by the media after the team were called out to rescue walkers who were not only alleged to be very ill-equipped but were also suspected of not being in need of rescuing but just fancied a lift back down the mountain. I know that such things do occasionally happen and when they do, Mr Lloyd and his colleagues get seriously pissed off. What was of interest was the identity of two local rent-a-gobs who also commented, neither of the rent-a-gobs being members of the Mountain Rescue team themselves.

The rent-a-gobs in question were the leader of Conwy County Council, Gareth Jones OBE and the Tory MP for Aberconwy, Guto Bebb. Bebb stated that people rescued by the Mountain Rescue team should have to fund their own rescue and Gareth Jones said that he shared Bebb’s sentiment, that no-one likes to see public money wasted, but that enforcing payment would be difficult.

Gareth Jones OBE has featured on this blog previously. He is the former Headmaster of Ysgol John Bright and in 1991 was a member of the Cartrefle Panel of Inquiry, which investigated the serious sexual assaults perpetrated on children in Cartrefle, a Clwyd children’s home. Every member of the Panel was someone who had previously concealed child abuse and one member was H.H. Ellis, the crooked County Secretary of Gwynedd County Council who had tried to frame and imprison me (see post ‘It’s A Piece Of Cake…’).

Not that Gareth Jones needed to have sat on that panel to know what was happening to kids in care in north Wales. Gareth was born in 1939 in Blaenau Ffestiniog, went to Swansea University and then became a teacher and returned to north Wales. He couldn’t have missed that paedophile gang.

Gareth was the Plaid AM for Conway, 1999-03 and for Aberconwy, 2007-11. So Gareth sat in Cardiff Bay when the Waterhouse Report was published and said not a word. £13 million quid that Report cost Gareth – that will be rather more than was spent rescuing the dipsticks from the hills the other day. If you and your associates hadn’t have concealed the criminality of Dafydd et al, that £13 million could have been put to better use.

Gareth lives in Craig-y-Don, Llandudno. Dafydd holds clinics there and has a ‘nursing home’ there as well.

Before Gareth was elected for Aberconwy in 2007, he was Cabinet member of Conwy County Council for finance and resources, as well as leader of the Plaid Group. So Gareth was on that Council whilst Conwy County Council passed homes owned by Prestwood People Trafficking Ltd as being suitable, whilst clients were assaulted, injured and groomed for sex work (see post ‘A Convenient Arrangement With The Private Sector’).

In the 2007 Assembly election, Gareth campaigned on a Save Llandudno Hospital ticket, although the Labour Party denied that downgrading was planned for Llandudno Hospital. I know people who were treated at Llandudno Hospital and they spoke very highly of the care that they received. One is a good friend of mine and I have no reason to disbelieve her. However I also know that Prestwood clients were being taken to Llandudno Hospital with injuries and after suicide attempts and no questions were asked. They were only ever allowed to go for medical care in the company of Prestwood staff and then they were patched up and returned to Prestwood.

Gareth Jones was a member of the Llandudno Hospital Action Group and is a Trustee of St David’s Hospice. St David’s Hospice is run entirely by paedophiles’ friends, Alun Davies was the Chief Executive after he ran the Hergest Unit into the ground and now Trystan Pritchard is Chief Exec. Trystan is a former corrupt NHS manager who, along with Martin Jones, refused to investigate complaints of Ysbyty Gwynedd staff abusing patients when Trystan worked for the NW Wales NHS Trust. See post ‘The CEOs Of St David’s Hospice’.

Trystan is a Freemason. As I am fairly sure is Gareth Jones.

Gareth is also a Board member for Aberconwy Women’s Aid and a Patron of Tyddyn Bach, an HIV centre at Penmaenmawr.

Gareth’s political interests are social justice, the Welsh language and education. So that is why he ignored a paedophile ring that spilt over into the schools and who targeted Welsh speaking as well as English speaking kids.

Guto Bebb went really apeshit about those whom he alleges abuse the Mountain Rescue service. Guto stated that they ‘should be made to take responsibility, both moral and financial, for their actions’.

Guto hasn’t yet featured on this blog but he certainly needs to. Guto Bebb has been the Tory MP for Aberconwy since 2010. He’s been involved in a few controversies in recent years. In 2014 Guto became embroiled in a twitter spat with a constituent who has Aspergers and Guto told him that people with mental health problems should not ‘publicly comment’ no less. Then in 2017 Guto told a constituent who challenged his voting record that he was ‘talking out of his arsehole’. There was more trouble in 2017 as well – Guto was the subject of outrage after he hired his wife as a translator and office worker just before Parliament blocked the practice of MPs employing their relatives.

Guto was born in Wrexham in 1968. As Guto was growing up, the kids in the care homes just down the road from his birthplace were being battered and raped into oblivion. Not that many of them should have been allowed to publicly comment, because so many of them had mental illness diagnoses. They’d only have been talking out of their arseholes. Guto will have been delighted that so many of them didn’t ever comment, having been imprisoned or died so young.

Guto went to Ysgol Sir Hugh Owen, along with some of the kids who were being abused. But they were quietly ignored. Far better to involve oneself with the children of Dafydd Wigley who also went there.  Guto then studied history at Aberystwyth University, when it was run by the paedophiles’ friends (see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’).

Guto hasn’t always been a Tory. He used to be a Plaid activist and was Chairman of Caernarfon Plaid. Er – Guto, it was Plaid-dominated Gwynedd County Council with their HQ in Caernarfon who knew that their children’s homes were full of paedophiles but took no action wasn’t it?

One of my friends knew Guto. She went on a business course and Guto was doing some of the teaching. Guto told the class how hopeless the Welsh Assembly are at matters business. They probably are Guto, but nothing rivals the fuckwittery, corruption and nepotism re ‘business development’ that prevails at Gwynedd County Council.

I don’t know Guto but I think that he might know me. I was next to him shopping in Caernarfon Morrison’s once – he was pushing a trolley full of small children – and he was very icy towards me. I only knew who he was because I recognised his photo. Yes, Guto, that was me, that fucking cow who just would not shut up about Dafydd and the paedophiles and who even wrote books and academic articles about the abuse of mental health patients by mental health staff. I know that I shouldn’t be allowed to publicly comment but I’ve written well over 500 posts on this blog now…

Anyone interested in Welsh political history knows of Guto’s grandfather, Ambrose Bebb. Ambrose was one of the founders of Plaid, along with Saunders Lewis. Dafydd was a mate of Saunders Lewis and I bet that Dafydd was a mate of Ambrose Bebb as well. Ambrose Bebb also knew J.E. Daniel, the father of the corrupt judge Huw Daniel who was looking forward to imprisoning me in 2004 on the basis of the perjury of Angels from the Hergest Unit.

Ambrose went to Aberystwyth Univerrsity when an earlier generation of paedophiles’ friends ran the place and when it produced scores of law graduates who became corrupt lawyers and judges who concealed the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophiles. When Ambrose was a student at Aber he published an article in support of the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland which was banned by the College authorities. Ambrose spent much of his life teaching at Coleg Normal, the teacher training college which trained scores of paedophiles’ friends.

Ambrose Bebb was one of the early members of Plaid who gave Plaid the tag of being a fascist – even a Nazi-supporting – party. Ambrose Bebb did not support the Nazis, he was one of a number of Plaid leaders who had links with French Catholic nationalist far-right groups.

I don’t agree with everything that your grandfather wrote Guto, but I would never have told him that he didn’t have the right to publicly comment. But then I’m not an offensive hypocrite of a paedophiles’ friend am I.

‘They should be made to take responsibility, both moral and financial, for their actions’. £13 fucking million on a rigged enquiry Guto. So that your associates didn’t go to prison.

The Mountain Rescue teams in north Wales get a great deal of good PR and I’m sure that for the most part they do a worthwhile job, but there are members past and present of the Mountain Rescue teams who could give police statements about certain matters. One member of the Ogwen team is Phil Benbow, who is a senior nurse at Ysbyty Gwynedd and for a long time was a senior nurse in the Hergest Unit. Phil Benbow did not abuse patients himself but he bloody well knew that it was happening. Phil was walking onto wards where patients had just been assaulted and had visible injuries. He was told how those injuries happened as well. Time to speak out Phil? Patients died up there. Not on your shifts, but you knew that place was crawling with dangerous violent Angels and that patients were not safe.

One abuser who was involved with Mountain Rescue in north Wales – but I don’t think that it was the Ogwen team – was dear old Stephen Gallagher (see post ‘Two Dangerous Very Dishonest Nurses’). A past leading light in the Ogwen team was the late Tony Jones, a lecturer at Bangor University, who was close friends with many corrupt officers in the North Wales Police and used to get his mates to arrest students that he didn’t like just for a laugh. An aspiring policeman also volunteered with the Ogwen team. He didn’t get into the police force – something was found on his record when he was 19 that caused the North Wales Police to turn his application down. He was very angry about it at the time, but the North Wales Police wouldn’t budge. So he joined the Mountain Rescue team and then became a paramedic! I was told that the past event that the police had objected to was a violent incident. So someone put him in a green jump suit and stuck him in the back of an ambulance instead.

Vaughan Gething has announced that the Welsh Gov’t is to outlaw smoking in the fresh air in the grounds of public buildings, including hospitals, because of the risk to people’s health from passive smoking. Sharing thousands of cubic meters of fresh air with someone puffing on a fag is not the same as a newborn sharing a box room with someone chain smoking High Tar No 6 or Woodbines Vaughan. Before you worry about first world problems, I suggest that you ask yourself what else might be going wrong in the mental health services of the Betsi after the Tawel Fan Scandal and now the imprisonment of the flasher who was employed as a carer for having sex with a patient.

Carwyn has made a speech at Wales’s annual TUC conference in Llandudno. Carwyn told a lot of lies about the NHS – it is of course excellent – and talked about other achievements of his that the Wales TUC might not have been that impressed with, because Carwyn isn’t Jeremy Corbyn. Not that the Wales TUC will be in a position to point the finger at anyone now that it has been made public that Edwina Hart – the former Chair of Wales TUC – when she was Minister for the Economy and Finance, dished out business support funding in return for sexual favours (see post ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’).

Lastly I am delighted to be able to report another breakthrough from CR UK, who seem to have discovered many earth-shattering new things since this blog provided details of the previous research frauds conducted by people funded by CR UK. The latest breakthrough has been made by a research team from Cardiff (where else?). We are told that a method has been found of completely destroying cancer cells in ovarian cancer whilst leaving healthy tissue untouched. Details of viruses which have been ‘trained’ to recognise cancer cells were provided, along with info about the everyday habits of viruses, accompanied by the obligatory diagrams of the double helix. (Which might have to stop because somebody has just popped up with a challenge to the double helix model.) The main problem with ovarian cancer is diagnosing it in the first place and the Cardiff team don’t seem to be addressing that. Although we were told that the ‘cure’ ‘could soon be a possibility’, I note that the experiments have been conducted on mice and the work has not yet reached clinical trials. Work on mice takes many years before it translates into interventions in the clinic. Furthermore, the attrition rate of those procedures is very high – the vast majority of new drugs etc fall at the many hurdles between ‘it’s worked on the mice and the mice haven’t died’ stage and the ‘safe and effective in humans, ready for the clinic’ stage. Cardiff are jumping the gun.

Heart Of Darkness

My posts ‘Pets Win Prizes’ and ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’ detailed some of the influential members of Sir Ronald Waterhouse’s network. However, Ronnie’s own account as provided in his autobiography ‘Child Of Another Century’ suggests a network of influence so extensive that I do not have the scope on this blog to provide exhaustive details of Sir Ronnie’s numerous friends, relations and colleagues. So I will just use this post to highlight the remainder of those who are most important. I can highly recommend Ronnie’s autobiography to readers who want to experience the full horror of Ronnie’s mycelia as well as to anyone interested in the discriminatory brand of very rough justice that was handed out by Ronnie and his mates of which I gave a flavour in ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’. In one murder trial Ronnie relied on evidence which was given by the deceased to a witness by means of a ouija board – the defendant in that trial was convicted.

Ronnie spent many loyal years toadying to powerful people in politics and law, but he was a man of many social circles and those little suckers on his many tentacles attached themselves to people in many arenas. Ronnie liked a bit of glamour and had many contacts in showbiz and the media.

Ronnie was proud that the actor Emlyn Williams from Mostyn, who achieved stardom in the 1920s and 30s, was an alumnus of Ronnie’s school, Holywell County School (from 1945, it was Holywell Grammar). Emlyn starred in ‘A Murder Has Been Arranged’ and ‘Beyond Belief’. Emlyn’s mentor Sarah Grace Cooke taught Ronnie French.

There was another early brush with stardom for Ronnie when he went on the Welsh Schoolboy Camps – one of the attending teachers was Phil Burton, mentor of Richard Burton. Ronnie hobnobbed with the greats treading the boards again in the early 1940s when Ann, the daughter of Sybil Thorndike and Lewis Casson, stayed with the Waterhouse family.

Ronnie knew Guy Neale, the cousin of the actor Robert Morley. Guy was a friend of the famously bisexual George Melly who had sex with Peregrine Worsthorne when they were both at Stowe School (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’). Years later as a man in late middle age, Melly offered a 16 year old boy in Bangor money to have sex with him following Melly’s appearance at Theatre Gwynedd. Ronnie observed that George Melly was ‘very camp in his manner’. Like so many of the paedophiles’ friends, George Melly had served in the Royal Navy (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’). Melly retired to Wales, near Brecon.

Ronnie’s colleague Benet Hytner QC was the father of Sir Nicholas Hytner, the Artistic Director of the National Theatre. Sir Nicholas’s mother Joyce is a theatrical fundraiser and sat on the Boards of a number of theatres, including the Royal Court Theatre. Ronnie Waterhouse used to hang out at the Royal Court Theatre with the molester Clement Freud.

Throughout the whole of the 1970s and 80s and for the first half of the 1990s Ronnie lived in St John’s Wood, which was packed with famous names including a good smattering of luvvies. Ronnie was for a time President of the St John’s Wood Society. He won’t have missed any toadying opportunities while in that position.

Ronnie was an opera buff and after his wedding he celebrated by going to Glyndebourne with his friend and colleague Emlyn Hooson and his wife. Opera – including Glyndebourne – was a magnet for Ronnie and he turned up to operas with a range of impressive friends. One visit to Glyndebourne in 1978 was with his friend Malcolm Anson, who was at the time the High Sheriff of Avon. Anson was Director – and later the Chairman of – Imperial Tobacco.

The Waterhouse family knew Sir Henry Walford Davies, the English composer, organist, conductor and educator who held the title Master of the King’s Music, 1934-41. Walford Davies held Chairs at University College Aberystwyth and the University of London and was musical advisor to the BBC.

Ronnie knew the Welsh tenor David Lloyd who, like Ronnie, came from Flintshire. In 1954 Lloyd had a serious accident whilst working on a programme for the BBC and fractured his spine. David Lloyd subsequently sued the BBC. Ronnie represented Lloyd in 1958 as the junior barrister to William Mars-Jones. Mars-Jones expressed the opinion from the outset that the BBC would win but somehow not only did legal aid for the case continue, but Mars-Jones persisted with the case. The BBC made unsubstantiated allegations that David Lloyd was an alcoholic – the presiding judge was a well-known Liberal Nonconformist who disapproved of drinking – and David Lloyd not only lost the case, but had his reputation damaged as well. It was however just as well for Ronnie and Mars-Jones that their client lost, because in 1956 Ronnie had begun working for the BBC himself and things could have been difficult if David Lloyd had won that case. The case was held at Chester Assizes. Ronnie Waterhouse grew up in a leading Liberal Nonconformist family just down the road from Chester. His family will have known the judge before Ronnie had even begun working on the Chester and Wales Circuit. Mars-Jones was also from a Nonconformist family who were located not a million miles away from Chester and Mars-Jones was an older, more experienced barrister who will have known the judge well. I suspect that Ronnie also knew that his employers were going to accuse David Lloyd of being a piss artist. What I do not know is whether David Lloyd knew that Ronnie was working for the organisation that David was trying to sue. David had been very badly injured and was unable to work for several years. That could have cost the BBC a great deal of money and much bad PR.

David Lloyd-Jones, the musical director of English Opera North, was the son of Ronnie’s colleague Sir Vincent Lloyd-Jones QC. Vincent Lloyd-Jones was a barrister on the corrupt Chester and Wales Circuit, Recorder of Chester, 1952-58 and Recorder of Cardiff, 1958-60. He was appointed a High Court judge in 1960. Sir Vincent was the brother of Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones, the Welsh Congregationalist Minister and Top Doctor. Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones trained at Barts and after qualifying worked as an assistant to the Royal Physician Lord Thomas Horder, but it was as an Evangelist preacher that Martyn was known.

Ronnie’s own taste in Top Docs was quite particular – he didn’t use the lethal NHS in north Wales which was run by his friends. When Ronnie was clobbered with appendicitis in 1968 he was operated on at UCH by Sir Ralph Marnham. Marnham trained at St George’s Hospital and also worked there for some years. He was Surgeon to the Royal Household of King George VI, 1946 and Surgeon and Serjeant-Surgeon to HM Queen Elizabeth, 1967-1971. In 1964 he operated on the Queen Mum for appendicitis and in 1966 he again operated on her for an abdominal obstruction. So Sir Ralph had gained a bit of experience before Sir Ronnie risked going under his knife – Ronnie wasn’t going to risk being operated on by just anyone.

When Ronnie’s mother-in-law suffered from cancer, she was treated at the private Wellington Hospital in London between 1982-84. Of course Ronnie’s mates who ran the NHS in north Wales at that time maintained that the cancer care that they provided was outstanding, but for some reason Ronnie’s mum-in-law didn’t catch a train to Ysbyty Gwynedd to experience the global leaders in oncology employed by Gwynedd Health Authority.

Ronnie’s wife Sarah was musical as well, at one point she enrolled in the Guildhall School of Music.

Ronnie’s best mate from Cambridge Sir Robin Day (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’) gave Ronnie access to reams of media folk, although Day always credited Ronnie with launching Day’s media career. It was Ronnie who saw an advert for ITN newscasters and encouraged Day to apply. Another Cambridge friend of Ronnie’s was Bob Sloman who worked for ‘The Sunday Times’ and wrote West End plays as well as material for ‘Dr Who’. Ronnie was also friends with Godfrey Smith, a correspondent for ‘The Sunday Times’. Sir Ronnie almost certainly knew ‘The Sunday Times’ journo Marjorie Wallace, a paedophiles’ friend of the highest order (see post ‘One Dangerous Fucker’). Ronnie knew Huw Thomas, a barrister who became an ITN newscaster and other friends of Ronnie’s included Keith Kyle of ‘The Economist’ and Douglas and Sarah Graham of the ‘Express & Star’ newspapers.

In 1956 Ronnie began script writing for the BBC. He was friends with Ian McIntyre, the controller of Radio 4, then Radio 3 and the associate Editor of ‘The Times’. Ronnie’s close friend and former flatmate Ivan Yates worked for the BBC’s North American service.

Ronnie got to know Tony Benn – or as he was then, Anthony Wedgwood Benn – through Ronnie’s TV work.

Ronnie’s media connections continued into the next generation – his nephew Michael Waterhouse is an independent TV producer, director and scriptwriter. Michael states in his online profile that he has produced regularly for BBC 2 and 4, ITV and Channel 4 and has overseen large-scale productions for Sky Atlantic and the History Channel (USA). Michael boasts of working with the presenters Tony Robinson, Nick Crane, Bettany Hughes, Richard Dawkins, Jim Al-Khalili, Michael Buerk, James Dyson, Stephen Hawking, Marcus du Sautoy and ‘numerous bishops’. Either Michael Waterhouse has a hotline to bishops or they are touting themselves around for TV work.

Between 1966-69 Ronnie worked as a libel reader for ‘Private Eye’ after his friend and neighbour Alistair Sampson told Ronnie that the ‘Eye’, which was at the time owned by Peter Cook, could do with his services after a costly damages settlement. Thus Ronnie got to know Richard Ingrams, Auberon Waugh, Paul Foot, Christopher Booker, John Morgan, Patrick Marnham, Willie Rushton and Barry Fantoni. Whilst the ‘Eye’ employed Ronnie they received many libel writs, including a number from Lord Hailsham. Auberon Waugh was delighted when in 1978 Ronnie became a High Court judge because Auberon felt that Lord Gnome would have a friend in the judiciary.

Although the ‘Eye’ did an excellent job of sending up some dreadful people, in that era the ‘Eye’ was constantly charged with being dominated by former minor public school boys with small c conservative sympathies. Although Peter Cook performed a wonderful parody of Justice Cantley’s ludicrous summing up at Jeremy Thorpe’s trial and Auberon took the piss by standing against Thorpe in the 1979 General Election as the Dog Lovers candidate in honour of Rinka, Norman Scott’s dog who had been shot by the alleged hit man (see post ‘My How Things Haven’t Changed’), Ronnie Waterhouse and many of his family and friends were mates with Jeremy Thorpe. They were fully aware of Norman’s allegations many years before the 1975 events on Porlock Hill (see post ‘My How Things Haven’t Changed’). Thorpe was defended at his trial by the crooked barrister George Carman QC (see posts ‘No Ordinary Methods’ and ‘No Ordinary Methods – Supplementary Post’), who was a friend of Ronnie’s.

The ‘Eye’ was one of the publications which in late 1972 refused to print a word about Norman’s allegations on the grounds that they were defamatory and unprovable.

In the 1970s Ronnie represented Paul Foot and Stephen Sedley represented the publisher of the ‘Socialist Worker’ when Sam Silkin the Attorney General tried to have them imprisoned for contempt. Foot had, in an article in ‘Socialist Worker’, named two prosecution witnesses, one of which was an hereditary peer, in the Janie Jones trial before Alan King-Hamilton QC at the Old Bailey. Jones ran a brothel in Kensington and she was alleged to have blackmailed the two prosecution witnesses who were clients of the brothel. She had been acquitted of the blackmail charges but had been tried earlier by King-Hamilton on charges related to prostitution and brothel keeping as well as attempting to pervert the course of justice.

King-Hamilton had shielded the ID of the witnesses but admitted that he didn’t have the power to prevent the press from naming them; he commented that he hoped that the press would not name them if they did discover who they were. The contempt case was heard by Lord Chief Justice Widgery, Justice Milmo and Justice Ackner. Stephen Sedley acted for the publisher of the ‘Socialist Worker’ and Ronnie for Paul Foot – Michael Lewis (Esyr’s brother) was Ronnie’s junior. The Treasury solicitor Gordon Slynn acted for the Attorney General. Although it was conceded that King-Hamilton had no jurisdiction over the press, Foot and the publisher were nonetheless fined £250 after the Court stated that Paul Foot had ‘acted recklessly’ and that naming the two witnesses was an ‘affront to the authority of the court and calculated to interfere with the course of justice because it would destroy the confidence of witnesses in future blackmail cases’. Not of course that Janie Jones had been found guilty of blackmailing the witnesses – she was imprisoned after being found guilty of controlling prostitutes.

Janie Jones will have had much dirt on many people. She had worked in cabaret in the 1950s in London, including at the Windmill Theatre where Trumpers’s father and his friends were regulars (see post ’95 Glorious Years!) and in clubs in Mayfair. Janie did of course run a brothel frequented by people who moved in the circles of the judge who jailed her…

Ronnie’s connections knew no limits – his wife Sarah’s father was a well-known racehorse breeder so Ronnie took maximum advantage of his father-in-law’s contacts too. Other business contacts of Ronnie’s included his friend Hamish Maxwell, the son of tobacco controller Sir Alexander Maxwell. Hamish was Chair and CEO of Philip Morris. Ken Clarke received freebies from Philip Morris and had dealings with the tobacco industry from 1982, when as Health Minister he thrashed out a voluntary agreement re tobacco advertising with the industry. Ken Clarke also concealed the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends in his roles as Health Minister and Secretary of State for Health (see post ‘Running The Country – And All That Jazz’). Hamish Maxwell became Chairman of WPP, the multinational later led by Sir Martin Sorrell. Another mate of Ronnie’s was Louis Marshall who became European Legal Director of Colgate Palmolive. He also knew Dennis Lannigan, the Chairman of J. Walter Thompson in Europe. J. Walter Thompson was formerly an advertising agency and is now part of WWP.

David Kinnersley was friends with Ronnie. Kinnersely was the Chief Executive of North West Water Authority in the 1970s. He founded Water Aid in 1981, after attending a meeting in New York in his capacity as senior economic advisor to the National Water Council after the UN declared the 1980s to be the ‘international drinking water supply and sanitation decade’. Kinnersley advised Thatcher’s Cabinet Minister Nicholas Ridley on the 1989 privatisation programme.

Kinnersley was one of the first Chief Executives of a water authority and though initially uncertain about the Thatcher’s privatisation programme, he eventually vowed to make it a success. He was a great fan of water meters, using his background as an economist to object to the principle of water companies raising levies based on the rateable values of users’ properties.

After graduating in 1950, Kinnersley joined the National Coal Board as special assistant to Sir James Bowman. He later worked for the UK Atomic Energy Authority before joining the water industry in 1964 as Deputy General Manager of the British Waterways Board. Kinnersley was Director of the Association of River Authorities, 1970-73 and then Chief Executive of the North West Water Authority until 1976. He found himself in trouble at North West Water when it came to light that the Authority – then still nationalised – had invested in personalised number plates for some of its other Directors.

Kinnersley’s book ‘Troubled Waters: Rivers, Politics and Pollution’ (1988) laid into the ‘fantasy and rhetoric’ and ‘administrative fudging’ of the Environment Department during water privatisation. In ‘Coming Clean: the Politics of Water and the Environment’ (1994), Kinnersley pointed out the urgent need for the UK to invest in its crumbling sewerage infrastructure and the Govt’s desire to avoid political responsibility for the price increases that would be required to support the new investment, but adroitly pointed out that ‘There’s no votes in shit.’

There were however a great many votes in concealing a pan-European paedophile gang whose UK arm was run by the NHS and social services.

After retiring from the National Water Council in 1983, Kinnersley took up a research fellowship at Nuffield College, Oxford and was later Bursar and a fellow of Mansfield College.

One place that Ronnie Waterhouse used to visit was St Deiniol’s Library in Hawarden, Flintshire, now known as the Gladstone Library. St Deiniol’s Library is a residential library, with a strong emphasis on theology. It is a favourite haunt of theologians and priests and the comedian Timmy Mallett’s father was a clergyman from near Chester who trained at St Deiniol’s (see post ‘The Banality Of Evil’). A former Bishop of Chester was abusing children.

Ronnie sat on the council of the London Zoological Society, 1972-93. The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is a charity that was founded in 1826 devoted to ‘the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats’.

The Institute of Zoology is the scientific research division of the ZSL. It is a Gov’t funded research institute, which ‘specialises in scientific issues relevant to the conservation of species and their habitats’. From the late 1980s the Institute of Zoology was affiliated to the University of London. In 2000 this was replaced with a partnership with the University of Cambridge.

When Ronnie first joined the ZSL, Phil the Greek was President and other council members included the Duke of Northumberland, Thatcher’s friend Woodrow Wyatt and Peter Scott. In 1977 Lord Solly Zuckerman – described by Ronnie as a ‘charming polymath’ – succeeded Phil the Greek as President.

Zuckerman was born and brought up in South Africa, studied medicine at the University of Cape Town and later attended Yale University. He went to London in 1926 to complete his studies at UCH Medical School. Zuckerman began his career at the ZSL in 1928, and worked as a research anatomist until 1932. He taught at the Oxford University, 1934–45.

During WWII, Zuckerman worked on several research projects for the British Gov’t, including measuring the effect of bombing on people and buildings and an assessment of the bombardment (Operation Corkscrew) of the Italian island of Pantelleria in 1943. When Zuckerman was Scientific Director of the British Bombing Survey Unit, he suggested that in the lead up to the Normandy landings the Allies should concentrate on disrupting the German-controlled French transportation system through heavy aerial bombing of rail lines and marshalling yards. His plan was privately referred to by its opponents as ‘Zuckerman’s Folly.’ However Zuckerman’s Folly was accepted by Supreme Allied Commander US General Dwight D. Eisenhower. A focus of Zuckerman’s plan was to target locomotives and the capacity to service them due to a shortage in France prior to the Normandy campaign. This had the effect of pushing rail heads back from the front causing trucks to be diverted from a role of manoeuvre to one of logistics, which resulted in greater petrol consumption.

After leaving the Royal Air Force in 1946, Zuckerman was appointed Professor of Anatomy at Birmingham University where he remained until 1968. He was Chief Scientific Advisor to the MoD, 1960-66 and Chief Scientific Advisor to the British Gov’t, 1964-71. Zuckerman taught at the University of East Anglia, 1969-74 and was instrumental in the development of the Environmental Sciences Dept there. He served as Secretary of the ZSL, 1955-77, before he was appointed President.

After Zuckerman retired as President of the ZSL in 1984, Waterhouse explained that severe financial difficulties followed. In May 1988 the Gov’t made an endowment payment of £10 million, with an annual payment of £1.3 million for the core funding of the Institute of Zoology.

Zuckerman married Lady Joan Rufus Isaacs, the daughter of Gerald Rufus Isaacs, the 2nd Marquess of Reading, in 1939. Gerald Isaacs was a barrister and a Minister in Winston Churchill’s and Anthony Eden’s Gov’ts. He was a bencher in Ronnie Waterhouse’s Inn of Court, Middle Temple. Ronnie will have made it his business to know him.

Sir William MacGregor Henderson, a veterinarian, succeeded Zuckerman as President of the ZSL.

In 1989 (Nicholas) Avrion Mitchison took over as President and remained in post until 1992. Avrion Mitchison’s uncle was the biologist J.B.S. Haldane and his grandfather was the physiologist John Scott Haldane. His son is the cell biologist Professor Tim Mitchison, who has a Chair at Harvard Medical School.

Avrion Mitchison was Professor of Zoology at UCL, worked at the National Institute of Medical Research at Mill Hill and was founding Director of a Rheumatology Institute in Germany. He is currently a Professor Emeritus at UCL.

Whilst I was working at St George’s Hospital Medical School, the Zoological Society of London was the subject of much bad publicity when a story was leaked to the media claiming that some rather pointless research was taking place which involved decapitating marmosets. The Zoological Society was unable to justify the research, but a statement was released stressing that they had seen the error of their ways and that the research had now stopped and they would not be going there again.

The Zoological Society of London was telling porkies. How did I know? Because Mandy Leigh, one of the most unpleasant members of staff at St George’s, was involved in that research and she sat in the tea room chortling away smugly as she confirmed to the rest of us that of course the chopping off of marmosets heads had not come to an end, that was just a load of guff that the London Zoo had told the press. Within a few days, Mandy had popped off down to the ZSL again to decapitate a few more marmosets.

The business of the marmosets losing their heads and lies being told to placate the plebs happened whilst Avrion Mitchison was President of the Zoological Society of London.

Avrion Mitchison stepped down as President in March 1992 – unless that was a lie that had been given to the media as well – and Field Marshal Sir John Chapple took over as President when he retired as the Chief of General Staff to the British Army. Chapple advised the British Gov’t during the Gulf War.

Field Marshal Chapple’s son is David Chapple, a consultant orthopaedic and spinal surgeon. David Chapple read medicine at Tommy’s and undertook his surgical training at St George’s Hospital Medical School. He works at Salisbury District Hospital and at the private New Hall Hospital in Salisbury.

In 2011 David Chapple and his wife Olivia, a GP, had a dreadful experience when their 17 year old son Horatio, a pupil at Eton, was killed by a starving polar bear whilst on a trip to Norway with the British Schools Exploring Society (BSES). Field Marshal Sir John Chapple is a former President of the BSES. The bear that killed Horatio was shot dead by the expedition leader, who suffered serious head and facial injuries. Police later disclosed that the organisers of the expedition had a gun but it failed to fire four times because it was in the ‘safe’ position. They had not assigned a nightwatchman for the camp.

In Sept 2011 it was announced that a High Court judge, Sir David Steel, would preside over an Inquiry into Horatio’s death.

In March 2012 after an enquiry by Norwegian investigators, it was concluded that Horatio’s death could have been avoided if the expedition members had stayed in cabins rather than tents, had used guard dogs and had appointed someone on polar bear watch. Because none of these precautions were required by law, the expedition leaders did not face prosecution.

In 2014, an inquest on Horatio by coroner Ian Singleton returned a narrative verdict. Singleton ruled that failures by the expedition’s organisers did not lead to Horatio’s death, although the group was missing several pieces of crucial equipment, including parts of the trip wire alert system. Singleton stated that a neglect verdict was not appropriate because the expedition leaders failures had not been ‘total or complete’.

Returning his verdict, Mr Singleton said Horatio had been in a tent on a snow bridge near the Von Post Glacier on 5 August when the attack happened. Singleton stated that ‘A polar bear was able to enter the camp shortly before 7.30 am undetected as the trip wire alarm system around the perimeter of the camp had failed to activate due to a supporting post more likely than not being knocked over by the bear which caused the cartridge to move or fall out of the mine without it detonating. Horatio emerged from his tent and was in the act of standing up when the bear reared up and slammed down on him with its paws pushing Horatio to the ground where the bear then mauled his head, face and neck, causing the injury which lead to Horatio’s death.’

Well the expedition leaders didn’t actually feed Horatio to the bear…

In 2014 Sir David Steel reported on the substantial failures in the organisation of the expedition, one of which was to use paperclips to repair the broken trip wire alert system. Sir David stated that the invasion of the camp by a polar bear was ‘not unforeseeable’.

So a 17 year old Eton pupil was killed on an elite adventure holiday as a result of some very, very basic failures by a society which prides itself on preparing youngsters as future explorers and no-one was prosecuted. What has been the long term outcome? A medical charity of course. Horatio’s Top Doc parents established ‘Horatio’s Garden’, which provides ‘green spaces’ (ie. gardens) in hospital grounds for spinal surgery patients to sit in or at least look at. The biggest n best ‘Horatio’s Garden’ fundraising appeal was held at Jimmy Savile’s alma mater Stoke Mandeville.

Horatio’s grandfather seems to have caused as many problems during his tenure as President of ZSL as his predecessors Solly and Avrion did. Ronnie Waterhouse’s book tells us that in Sept 1992 a vote of no confidence in the council of the ZSL was held in Sir John Chapple’s absence. Ronnie very wisely retired from the council of the ZSL after this. Sir John stood down as President in 1994, but he had another really good train set to play with because in 1993 he had been appointed as Governor of Gibralter.

The merry-go-round continued after Sir John vacated the ZSL Presidency in 1994. Sir Martin Holdgate was then President until 2004. Martin Holdgate was Chief Biologist to the British Antarctic Survey, then Research Director of the Nature Conservancy Council and, for eighteen years, Chief Scientist and Head of Research at the Dept of the Environment. Subsequently, Holdgate was Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Professor Sir Patrick Bateson was President of ZSL, 2004-14. Sir Patrick Bateson held the Chair of Ethology at Cambridge and his interest was in the ethics of the use of animals for research and the analysis of pain and suffering in animals. The Zoological Society of London with its headless marmosets was the right place for him then.

Professor Sir John Beddignton has been President of ZSL since 2014. Beddington is Senior Adviser at the Oxford Martin School and was previously Professor of Applied Population Biology at Imperial College. Gordon Brown appointed him as the UK Gov’t Chief Scientific Advisor in 2008. He remained in post until 2013.

Beddington was married to Professor Sally Baldwin, who was killed in a particularly horrible accident on an escalator in Italy in 2003. From 1994 Sally Baldwin was the Head of the University of York’s Social Policy and Social Work Dept. Sally’s research was into the application of evidence based research to social policy. Her other interests were in mental health and before her death she had been working with the NHS research and development programme on service delivery. Sally served as a member of the York Community Health Council and was a non-executive Director of the York NHS Trust. No, Sally never mentioned what Jimmy Savile was getting up to in her region and her promotion of ‘evidence based policy’ and ‘mental health advocacy’ did not touch the abuses of psychiatric patients by the mental health services, which continued apace. Neither did Sally say a word about Drs Michael Haslam and William Kerr, the two psychiatrists who raped and sexually abused female psychiatric patients in Yorkshire for decades until they were finally exposed in the late 1990s (see post ‘All The Ingredients Of A Scandal’).

If Sally Baldwin had been among all the expertise in north Wales, she wouldn’t have said a word about Dafydd and the paedophiles. Dafydd used to hold ‘clinics’ in Yorkshire.

Ronnie was a member of the council at ZSL whilst the unfortunate marmosets were being decapitated by Mandy Leigh et al and lies were told to the media. However Ronnie knew that there were some people who were not to be messed with. Robin Day’s son Alexander was seriously injured on a trip to London Zoo – he sustained multiple skull fractures – whilst Ronnie was a council member. London Zoo coughed up substantial damages without quibbling. Ronnie mentioned in his book that Robin Day was a litigious man who was quick to sue newspapers.

Ronnie Waterhouse was involved in the 1970s battle between the Church of Scientology, MIND (then known as the National Association for Mental Health) and the psychiatric establishment. Ronnie defended Geoffrey Johnson-Smith, the Tory MP for East Grinstead – who was a friend of Sir Robin Day – against Church of Scientology. The Church tried to sue Johnson-Smith over claims he made on the BBC that families were being alienated by the Church. Although the Church produced witnesses who spoke highly of it, the jury decided that Johnson-Smith’s comments were substantially true and made in good faith.

Ronnie recommended that Sir Elwyn Jones lead for the defence. Sir Elwyn Jones – who later became Lord Elwyn-Jones – ranked high in the pecking order among the paedophiles’ friends of north Wales. He grew up in west Wales, passed through University College Aberystwyth and Cambridge and became a barrister on the Chester and Wales Circuit and a Recorder of Merthyr Tydfil. He served as the Labour MP for Plaistow, West Ham South and Newham. Elwyn Jones was Attorney General under Harold Wilson, 1964-70 and then Lord Chancellor, 1974-79, under Wilson and then Callaghan. It was on his watch as Lord Chancellor that Ronnie was appointed a High Court judge. Elwyn Jones was Shadow Lord Chancellor, 1983-89, under the Windbag.

Elwyn Jones was Lord Chancellor when Mary Wynch was unlawfully arrested and imprisoned by Dr Dafydd Alun Jones et al, as well as during the preceding years when she had come under attack from a ring of crooked solicitors who fleeced her of her inheritance.

Sir Peter Rawlinson was Attorney General at the time of the Geoffrey Johnson-Smith case – Rawlinson was AG throughout the years of Heath’s Gov’t. He had been Solicitor-General under Macmillan at the time of the John Vassall spy scandal (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’), so Rawlinson knew that there was naughtiness in high places accompanied by much hypocrisy.

Geoffrey Johnson-Smith’s appearance on the BBC which sparked the legal case with the Scientologists was the result of a question he’d put to Kenneth Robinson, the Labour Health Minister (a position which evolved into the Secretary of State for the Social Services) in 1968. Robinson did not like the Scientologists. He served as Chairman of National Association for Mental Health  (MIND) and in 1969 the Church of Scientology infiltrated the NAMH. Their members were expelled by NAMH and the Scientologists sued in an attempt to have their members reinstated but lost the case (see post ‘MIND Are Out For Mental Health – Never For Themselves Of Course’). The problem that Robinson, the NAMH and the psychiatric establishment all had with the Scientologists was that the Scientologists alleged that psychiatrists were abusing patients, carrying out damaging experiments on them and facilitating sex crime.

It is a great pity that the Church of Scientology is built on such shaky foundations itself, because much of what they have said about psychiatry for years I have found to be true.

The first person whom I met who really hated the Scientologists was Dr DGE Wood, who was helping run Dafydd’s sex trafficking business. Did Wood just think that L. Ron Hubbard’s writings were a bit outlandish? No. Wood told me that the Scientologists needed a shotgun against their heads. Which was an interesting desire, in the light of the claim by one boy at Bryn Alyn that he was sexually assaulted at gunpoint.

Ronnie’s book mentions that in the Geoffrey Johnson-Smith case, the Scientologists were represented by a junior barrister, Ronald Schulman, who later ‘disappeared in mysterious circumstances’. Ronnie’s story was that Schulman ‘behaved oddly’ in relation to the will of a man who died in a private plan crash en route to France. Ronnie maintained that Schulman was last seen by Ronnie’s barrister friend James Crespi, ‘breakfasting at the Great Eastern Hotel’. Ronnie tell
