A few hours ago an article appeared on ‘Guardian Online’ reporting on an interview that Michelle Obama gave to ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ breakfast show in which Michelle talked about the contents of her soon to be published book, ‘Becoming’. Which extracts from ‘Becoming’ were highlighted in particular? Well bugger me, it was Michelle’s revelation that her daughters were conceived by IVF and that she and Barack received marriage counselling.

When I first saw the article I thought ‘oh no, it’s another high profile female Western leader/celeb who has Opened Her Heart and Shared’ and my initial response was to feel a bit sad that Michelle Obama had felt it necessary to reveal confidential details of personal difficulties – she also talks about a miscarriage – when there was no need for her to do this.

I am of course aware that this blog describes some pretty bad experiences of my own, but I ended up doing this because for decades I watched people die and have their lives destroyed by some seriously dangerous people who remain at the top of the medical and other professions. Furthermore they just would not lay off me or those close to me, so they have got this blog. I have received some really thoughtful e mails telling me that it must have been incredibly hard for me to have relived what we went through while writing the blog. No, it has been fine, because I have excluded the worst experiences and as a result of my academic interests I have placed emphasis on the sociological, historical and political context of the events. I took the view that such an approach was more worthwhile than an account of ‘My Hell’. ‘My Hells’ are simply received with an ‘ah, bechod!’, or an ‘ooh she’s a strong woman’ and a comment about slipping through the net. I and others did not slip through the net, the net was pulled to one side to ensure that we hit the concrete. Fortunately for me I bounced, but many more people hit the concrete and it killed them. Which was the purpose. I hope that I have shown on this blog that hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of vulnerable people were actively forced into the clutches of a vicious criminal network by the welfare state over many, many years, that it was concealed at Gov’t level by successive Govt’s and that no-one has been held to account.

Then I re-read the ‘Guardian Online’ article about Michelle’s interview and I noticed something more than another Woman Opening Her Heart. Michelle’s comments to ABC were an advert for the medical establishment. No, I am not on the Grassy Knoll, bear with me…

Hours before Michelle gave that interview to ABC, I wrote my post ‘The Point Is To Change It’, in which I expanded on the most appalling criminal conspiracy on the part of numerous people, including some in Very High Places, to destroy an honest man, Merfyn Jones, the former Chairman of the Betsi Caladwaladr University Health Board in north Wales, because he challenged those who had facilitated a VIP/Westminster Paedophile Ring and years previously his late wife did as well. So desperate were people who had been accessories to very serious crime that the conspiracy ended in corrupt professionals employed in the UK’s NHS allowing patients to die in order to destroy this man’s reputation, after he took on the unenviable task of Chairing that deeply troubled Health Board which employed numerous people who had facilitated the criminal gang who neglected, abused and killed vulnerable people.

The Guardian Online tells us that ‘America’s first black first lady reveals she her and her husband, Barack Obama, sought marriage counselling and struggled to get pregnant after she suffered a miscarriage. They underwent in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments to conceive daughters Malia and Sasha…Obama also says she will “never forgive” Trump for peddling false conspiracy theories about her husband’s birthplace which, she says, put her family’s life in danger from “wingnuts and kooks”…Obama said she felt “lost and alone” after a miscarriage 20 years ago. “I felt like I failed because I didn’t know how common miscarriages were, because we don’t talk about them. We sit in our own pain, thinking that somehow we’re broken….It’s important to talk to young mothers about the fact that miscarriages happen...The biological clock is real … egg production is limited. I realised as I was 34 and 35, we had to do IVF. I think it’s the worst thing that we do to each other as women, not share the truth about our bodies and how they work.”

Michelle, women DO ‘share the truth about their bodies’, they ‘share the truth’ quietly and in confidence with people whom they feel able to trust, usually close friends or relatives. The people who are not ‘sharing the truth’ about women’s bodies are the legal and medical professions. Michelle Obama is a former lawyer and hospital administrator. The truth about IVF, including the success rates or the soundness or otherwise of the techniques used, has not been shared with women, or at least the women who are patients. The truth not having been shared has recently been borne out by the many reports etc detailing the numerous ways in which desperate, trusting patients have been fleeced, reports of which Michelle Obama will be well aware. But IVF is a very, very profitable business which has come under severe attack recently…

Gee, what better advert at a difficult time than the First Black First Lady – and one with such enviable arms as well, there’s no bingo wings on Michelle!!! – telling the world that her two lovely, clever daughters, who received that little dog as a present when their dad Became America’s First Black President, were conceived by IVF!

In terms of not Sharing The Truth, is Michelle aware of the recent vaginal mesh scandal, in which women were positively encouraged to insert a device into their bits which caused lifelong injury to many of them? The possibility of that happening was known by the Top Docs who robustly promoted vaginal meshes but women were not warned. Vaginal meshes were promoted for use by women with incontinence problems. Michelle might be interested to know that one Truth that Top Doctors are reluctant to Share with women is the very common incidence of stress incontinence in middle aged women, particularly those who have given birth. It is so common that in previous generations, women considered mild stress incontinence as normal as greying hair or wrinkles, it was not something one even bothered to seek medical advice about. In more recent years, women experiencing this have been encouraged to Talk To Their Doctor and have been made to feel that they are suffering from something as bad as a recto-vaginal fistula. The loathed and unscrupulous Professor Stuart Stanton of St George’s Hospital Medical School (see previous posts) became a very rich man by performing pelvic floor surgery on rich, anxious women who had been convinced by Top Docs that there was something seriously disgusting about them. I await Michelle’s Sharing of her experiences of stress incontinence.

With regard to the Top Docs and the healthcare industry not Sharing the secrets of both women’s and men’s bodies, Dr David Healy has demonstrated that drug companies, including American drug companies,  routinely withold data from clinical trials if that data reveals that women’s and men’s bodies could be damaged by the drugs concerned.

Medicine is an international business. Some of the British obstetricians and gynaecologists – as well as other Top Doctors – named on this blog as having been involved with the most serious misconduct have strong links with the US. Professor Geoffrey Chamberlain was Stuart Stanton’s colleague and until Chamberlain was caught up in a huge medical research fraud scandal in the mid-1990s, he was President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and was waiting for his knighthood. Chamberlain spent 1965-66 working at the George Washington Hospital, Washington DC, USA. While he was working there, Chamberlain aborted late gestation foetuses by performing hysterectomies on women, conducted experiments on the live foetuses and then killed them after he had finished experimenting. Chamberlain published this work in the ‘American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology’, March 1968, it has been there for everyone to read for decades.

Chamberlain’s experiments almost certainly contravened US law at the time and I very much doubt that the women whom he operated on to gain access to those foetuses knew what was going to happen to them. The foetuses on which Chamberlain experimented would now be considered to be premature babies and they would receive neonatal intensive care. Chamberlain also concealed a huge sex trafficking ring with which his colleagues were involved/facilitating.

See post ‘Now Then…’ for further details of Chamberlain and his wrongdoing, including those experiments on live foetuses.

The UK’s most high profile fertility expert, Lord Robert Winston, was a friend and colleague of Geoffrey Chamberlain. In 1980, Robert Winston conducted research as Professor of Gynaecology at the University of Texas Health Science Centre at San Antonio. Together with Carol Readhead of the California Institute of Technology, Winston has been researching male germ cell stem cells and methods for their genetic modification at the Institute of Reproductive and Developmental Biology, Imperial College, London. Previous posts eg. ‘I Don’t Believe It’ have detailed some of the misconduct and research fraud perpetrated by staff at Imperial. Other posts have named senior academics at Imperial eg. Lord Brian Flowers who concealed and colluded with research fraud and the organised abuse carried out by Dafydd’s gang.

My post ‘I Passionately Believe’ discussed the ways in which successive General Secretaries of the RCN concealed and ignored patient harm, including the crimes of Dafydd’s gang. One such RCN President, 2001-07, was Beverley Malone, who was headhunted from her post in the US.

Here is the extract about Beverley Malone from ‘I Passionately Believe’:

Beverly Malone is the Chief Executive of the National League for Nursing in the US. Prior to assuming this position in February 2007, she served as General Secretary of the RCN in the UK from 2001, the year following the publication of the Waterhouse Report when there were many furious voices maintaining that Waterhouse was a huge cover-up. During Beverley’s time as the RCN, members of the RCN assaulted and injured me as well as other patients, lied about their actions when we made complaints and then perjured themselves in an attempt to have me imprisoned for a serious crime.

Beverly Malone was raised in rural Kentucky, in the segregated deep south of the US by her great grandmother. Malone obtained a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Cincinnati in 1970. From 1970 she worked as an Angel in New Jersey, obtaining a Master’s degree in adult psychiatric nursing from Rutgers University in 1972. In 1972 Beverley Malone was appointed Instructor of Psychiatric Nursing at Wayne State University in Michigan. From 1973 Malone was a specialist nurse, professor and administrator at University Hospital, Cincinnati.

Psychiatric nursing in the US – as well as in the UK – at that time was a pretty dreadful business. Exposes both fictional (eg. ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’) and academic (eg. David Rosenhan’s famous 1973 study in which sane academics posed as people with one minor psychiatric symptom to gain entry to mental hospitals and were within days declared to be far too mad to be allowed out for many months; see post ‘Inappropriate Behaviour?’) infuriated the Top Doctors but there was so much evidence emerging of widespread dreadful practices that the abuse of patients could not be denied.

Malone obtained her PhD in clinical psychology from Cincinnati University in 1981 and was then Assistant Administrator of the Medical Centre. In 1986 Malone was made Dean of the School of Nursing at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, an historically black university. She became Vice Chancellor in 1994. In North Carolina, Malone also served on a number of public bodies, including the Governor’s Task Force on Nursing Shortage, the North Carolina Commission on Health Services and the Board of Directors of the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program.

In 1996 Malone was elected President of the American Nurses Association (ANA), an organisation representing 180,000 Angels throughout the United States. She was the second African-American to hold this position. She served two terms lasting until 2000. President Bill Clinton appointed Malone as a member of the US delegation to the  World Health Assembly, the governing body of WHO (World Health Association), in 1998 and 1999.

During her Presidency, Malone served on Bill Clinton’s Advisory Commission on Consumer Protection and Quality in the Health Care Industry and in March 1998 she was appointed to the Health Care Quality Measurement and Reporting Committee. She also represented U.S. nurses in the Congress of Nurse Representatives of the International Council of Nurses and served on the Board of Directors of the National Patient Safety Partnership, a collaboration with the Dept of Veterans’ Affairs, the AMA (American Medical Association) and other national health care organisations.

From 2000, Malone was appointed by Clinton as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health within the US Dept of Health and Human Services, the highest position that an Angel had ever held in the US Gov’t.

You also lied, as did your foul wife Hillary when she maintained that the string of women whom you shagged, exploited and dumped or simply harassed were themselves the liars or were as equally culpable as you were
So in 2001, in the aftermath of the Waterhouse Report – and as the Mid-Staffs scandal and God knows how much more NHS wrongdoing was being suppressed by Miranda’s Gov’t – a pillar of the US mental health establishment who rose up the ladder during the time of the most serious abuse of psychiatric patients in the US relocated to the UK and was appointed to lead the RCN.
The British and US healthcare establishments are closely intertwined and have been swapping both Top Doctors and methods for concealing wrongdoing and quashing dissent for generations. Some of those directly involved with the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal had links with the US medical/nursing establishment.
In 2007 Beverley Malone wrote ‘How could the RCN want an American, an African American, to run the most prestigious professional nursing trade union in the world? ‘
Answer: because in the wake of the cover-up re the crimes of an international trafficking ring involving the collusion of Top Doctors and politicians in the US, the British establishment could portray you as a li’l ole black Angel raised by her great granny while the KKK pursued you all, like something out of ‘The Colour Purple’, rather than someone who had been at the centre of America’s most shameful period of medical history and who had used that to get herself to the very top of the tree in the US.
But then Hillary Clinton Cares About Wimmin.
Perhaps Beverley would like to deliver a lecture on how it was the legislation passed by Bill, who was assisted in the task by Hillary, which led to the imprisonment and subsequent disenfranchisement of thousands of poor, black Americans. That’s why so many were locked up; it was Bill and Hillary wot did it. Thus the subsequent shock horror revelation of ‘young black men in America have more chance of going to prison than to university’. Yes and it was the Clintons who criminalised so many of them.

Beverley’s wiki entry tells us that re Beverley becoming the Gen Sec of the RCN – the largest professional union of nursing staff in the world – Clinton is said to have smoothed the way politically by “having a word” with Miranda and Gordon.

I’ll tell you who knew about Gwynne the lobotomist, Dafydd, Bertrand Russell et al and what they were all up to in Croesor/Llanfrothen in the 1960s and 70s (see eg. post ‘The Village’): the young American draft dodger who stayed at Croesor with the radical crowd at that time and who later became a Democrat Senator!

Bill was a draft dodger too of course, but he called it ‘going to study at Oxford University on a Rhodes scholarship’. Bill got out and about and mixed with all sorts when he was at Oxford.

Hey ho ex-POTUS you didn’t expect this did you? Well you shouldn’t have blamed Monica you bastard, you could have at least had the guts to say ‘yeah, sorry, I did it…’ And your wife is no feminist either, she’s a rich over-indulged hypocrite and I’ve had a bellyful of being told that she’s my fucking role model.

When in the UK, Beverley Malone was also a member of HEFCE and represented the RCN at the European Federation of Nurses’ Associations (EFN), the Commonwealth Nurses Federation and the International Council of Nurses, together with being the RCN General Secretary.

Malone was at first the subject of considerable UK media attention and some controversy, because of her generous remuneration package. Yeah, the Low Paid Angel will have been given a great deal of dosh. There was also criticism of Malone’s mother, Dorothy Black, receiving free eye surgery under the NHS soon after her arrival, in spite of having paid no British taxes or insurance contributions. Send her back, along with all those Nigerian women who fly into Tommy’s weekly to give birth to quins on the NHS!  Officials stated that Malone’s mum had not been given preferential treatment and, as a resident or dependent relative of a resident, was entitled to the same free healthcare as anyone else. Er, then why did so many other people in that position receive so much grief? Furthermore, because Malone returned to the US – thankfully – after the necessary had been done for Miranda and the patient batterers/child abusers, she was more like a tourist on an extended holiday than a UK resident.

Malone was also criticised for attending a Labour Party event as a guest, because of the traditional party-political neutrality of her employer.

Beverley is a poor, uneducated 14-year-old girl living in the American South in the early 1900s. She writes letters to God because her stepfather, Alphonso, beats her harshly and rapes her continuously. Alphonso has already impregnated Beverley once, a pregnancy that resulted in the birth of a boy she named Adam. Alphonso takes the baby away shortly after his birth. Beverley has a second child, a girl she named Olivia whom Alphonso also abducts. Beverley’s ailing mother dies after cursing Beverley on her deathbed.  After she had her eyes done on the NHS. And went to Chequers to meet Cherie and Miranda.

Duw it’s hard for Celie in the deep south under segregation…

  • The Telegraph - Telegraph Online, Daily Telegraph, Sunday ...

In 2003 Celie Malone became a member of the steering committee of the NHS Modernisation Agency. While Miranda et al continued to conceal Mid-Staffs. In 2006, Miranda appointed Celie as a member of the UK delegation to the World Health Assembly.

In an interview with ‘The Guardian’ before returning to the United States, while criticising job cuts and cost cutting in the British NHS, Malone spoke favourably of the system, calling it “a treasure” and praising a system where healthcare is a right rather than a privilege. Malone said this when she knew that NHS whistleblowers were having their careers ruined and that people in north Wales who had spilt the pints of Dafydd and the gang were being unlawfully denied healthcare and were being openly threatened, harassed, arrested and prosecuted on the basis of the lies of NHS Angels. But at least Bev’s mum got her eyes done.

Malone welcomed the greater “visibility” of the nursing profession in Britain, as compared with the US. Midwifery has virtually disappeared in the US because of the prevalence of high tech births managed by Top Docs; many midwives in the UK feared/fear that their profession too is being written out of the picture by a similar process. The NHS, assisted by the RCM, systematically forced all independent midwives in the UK out of practice, because they were a little too outspoken regarding the poor care that too many women received from mainstream practitioners, including in the NHS. I knew one of the independent midwives targeted, Beatrice Carla. She was living in Gwynedd while Malone was leading the RCN and had been subjected to an all out witch hunt. Malone will have known about Beatrice’s case, it was widely discussed in the nursing press at the time. Beatrice is now practising abroad, having concluded that there is now no way in which she can practice midwifery in the UK without compromising the safety of her patients.

After returning to the US, from February 2007, Malone was appointed Chief Executive of the National League for Nursing (NLN), which has a membership of over 40,000. She also represented U.S. Angels in the Congress of Nurse Representatives of the International Council of Nurses.

In 2009, Malone testified during the Congressional budget hearings. She also served on the Institute of Medicine’s Forum on the Future of Nursing Education.

Malone has been particularly involved in minority health issues, racial and ethnic health disparities and other issues of race and cultural diversity. That must be why in the US some ethnic minorities have such poor health outcomes, such as pregnant Peurto Rican women. They have one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the western world, partly because so many of them cannot afford antenatal care so those women who develop pre-eclampsia are not identified; it develops into eclampsia which kills them. Beverley has obviously been spectacularly ineffective with regard to that.

Malone is a member of the Baptist Church and is religious. Then she will probably have firm views on abortion but was nonetheless one of those who kept quiet about the experiments which Prof Geoffrey Chamberlain of St George’s Hospital Medical School, who was at one point the President of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, conducted on live late gestation foetuses whom he aborted when he worked in the US in the mid-1960s. After experimenting on them, Chamberlain killed the foetuses. See post ‘Now Then…’ Chamberlain was one of those who concealed the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal and in 2000, the year of the publication of the Waterhouse Report, he was given a lecturing post in the history of medicine at Swansea University. Chamberlain’s feet were well under the table when Bev arrived in the UK to lead the RCN at Miranda’s invitation.

I posted that information about Beverley Malone some two weeks ago. That is why I do not think that I am on the Grassy Knoll re Michelle’s comments about the wonders of IVF and the psy professions.
A few more considerations.
My post ‘Lest We Forget’, which I wrote two days ago, detailed the many links that the late Professor Lisa Jardine had with people and organisations who concealed the crimes of Dafydd’s gang. Jardine was the Chair of the UK’s Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, 2008-14 and under her Chairmanship, fertility patients were lied to, deceived and charged for treatments that were unlikely to be successful. Jardine was an Honorary Bencher of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. Sir Ronnie Waterhouse, the High Court judge who Chaired the Waterhouse Inquiry and wrote the subsequent Waterhouse Report which concealed the extent of the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal as well as the involvement of high profile from outside of north Wales, was a member and Treasurer of Middle Temple.
Lisa Jardine was awarded the Francis Bacon Award in the History of Science by the California Institute of Technology in 2012 and collected the Bacon Medal for this award at the annual History of Science Society meeting in San Diego in September 2012.
Martin Jones, the former CEO of the NW Wales NHS Trust and former Director of the Workforce at the Betsi Board, was one of those who led the attacks on Merfyn (see post ‘The Point Is To Change It’). When Martin Jones was a senior manager of the NW Wales NHS Trust, Martin established links with a hospital in the US and made a number of visits to that hospital, with a view to ‘sharing practice’ and developing business links’. Martin and his colleagues flew first class and stayed in very expensive hotels, charging it all to the Trust, yet were not able to show any outcomes from their partnership with the US hospital. While Martin was making those trips to the US, the suicide rate at the Hergest Unit was one of the highest in the UK and there were numerous complaints, including of patients being assaulted by staff.
Miranda and Cherie established a cosy relationship with the Clintons and the Obamas, as well of course with George Dubya Bush and his wife. Miranda built his foreign policy on close ties with US and EU and added a new activist philosophy of “interventionism”. In 2001 Britain joined the US in the global war on terror. Miranda formed a strong political alliance with Dubya, particularly in the area of foreign policy. For his part, Dubya lauded Miranda and the UK. In his post-9/11 speech, for example, Dubya stated that “America has no truer friend than Great Britain”. The alliance between Dubya and Miranda seriously damaged Miranda’s standing in the eyes of Britons angry at American influence. Miranda argued it was in Britain’s interest to “protect and strengthen the bond” with the United States regardless of who is in the White House.

However, a perception of one-sided compromising personal and political closeness led to discussion of the term “Poodle-ism” in the UK media, to describe the “Special Relationship” of the UK Gov’t and PM with the US White House and President. A revealing conversation between Bush and Miranda, with the former addressing the latter as “Yo Blair “, was recorded when they did not know a microphone was live at the G8 summit in St Petersburg in 2006.

Jacques Chirac, George Dubya Bush, Tony Blair and Silvio Berlusconi during the G8 Summit in Evian, June 2003

In summer 2015, in the wake of the Hillary Clinton e mail controversy, Cherie was revealed to have lobbied Clinton in 2009 on behalf of prominent members of the Qatari monarchy; Clinton was US Secretary of State at the time. In a letter to ‘The Guardian’, Cherie denied this characterisation of her mediation efforts, describing their story as “sensationalist and inaccurate”. Precisely two months later, the release of another batch of Clinton’s private emails confirmed that Cherie had, indeed, arranged meetings with Clinton for the Qataris outside normal diplomatic channels, with discussions to involve “the US/Qatar relationship generally”, not merely joint philanthropic efforts. In one case, Cherie herself stated that her purpose was to help the eldest of Sheikh Mosah’s sons, Jasim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani “build up an international profile”.

In 2005, Euan, Miranda and Cherie’s son, spent three months as an unpaid intern with Republican David Dreier and Republican Party staff of the Rules Committee of the United States House of Representatives . He then crossed the aisle to spend time working in the office of Democrat Jane Harman. Euan Blair cut short his internship with Harman in May 2006, after just a fortnight. A statement from Harman’s office cited Euan Blair’s graduate school plans. In 2008, Euan Blair graduated from Yale University’s MacMillan Center with an M.A. in International Relations. He accepted this place after being awarded a £50,000 ($100,000) scholarship based on merit, although there was some surprise at this award.

Barack Obama’s time as US President overlapped with Lord Snooty the Third’s time as PM. Lord Snooty the Third not only had a hand in causing problems for Merfyn, but his father Ian was Chairman of White’s when Sir Peter Morrison, who was abusing kids in care in north Wales, enjoyed membership of White’s. It was Lord Snooty the Third who appointed Theresa May as Home Secretary and then gave her the responsibility of organising the review of the Waterhouse Inquiry. Theresa appointed Lady Justice Julia Macur, who produced such a heavily redacted Report that it was meaningless, but reassured everyone anyway that Waterhouse had not been a cover-up. Theresa served as a Councillor for Merton Borough Council, 1986-94, which was a Borough served by St George’s Hospital Medical School, which at the time was concealing Dafydd and the gang in north Wales and a linked trafficking gang in south London. Lord Snooty the Third also appointed David Jones MP as Secretary of State for Wales during the run-up to the organisation of the Review of the Waterhouse Inquiry. David Jones is a solicitor from north Wales who before he became an MP worked with corrupt solicitors in two different law firms in north Wales who were concealing the abuse of children and vulnerable people. See post ‘Lord Snooty The Third’).
During his term as PM, Lord Snooty the Third managed to secure a huge majority for UK participation in UN-backed military action in Libya, but he became the first PM since 1782 to lose a foreign policy vote in the House of Commons over proposed military action against Assad’s regime in Syria. Subsequently, Barack Obama asked congressional approval which was not ultimately granted.

Lord Snooty the Third condemned the “appalling and unacceptable” violence used against anti-Gaddafi protesters at the beginning of the Libyan Civil War. After weeks of lobbying by the UK and its allies, on 17 March 2011 the UN Security Council approved a no-fly zone to prevent government forces loyal to Gaddafi from carrying out air attacks on anti-Gaddafi rebels. Two days later the UK and the United States fired more than 110 Tomahawk missiles at targets in Libya.

Lord Snooty the Third said that he was “proud” of the role that the UK played in the overthrow of Gaddafi’s government. He also stated that UK had played a “very important role”, adding that “a lot of people said that Tripoli was completely different to Benghazi and that the two don’t get on—they were wrong. … People who said ‘this is all going to be an enormous swamp of Islamists and extremists’—they were wrong”.

In 2015-16 the Foreign Affairs Select Committee conducted an extensive and highly critical inquiry into the British involvement in the Libyan civil war. It concluded that the early threat to civilians had been overstated and that the significant Islamist element in the rebel forces had not been recognised, due to an intelligence failure. By summer 2011 the initial limited intervention to protect Libyan civilians had become a policy of regime change. However that new policy did not include proper support and for a new government, leading to a political and economic collapse in Libya and the growth of ISIL in North Africa. It concluded that Lord Snooty the Third was ultimately responsible for this British policy failure.

US President Barack Obama also acknowledged there had been issues with following up the conflict planning, commenting in an interview with ‘The Atlantic’ magazine that Lord Snooty the Third had allowed himself to be “distracted by a range of other things”.

US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron trade bottles of beer to settle a bet they made on the U.S. vs. England World Cup Soccer game (which ended in a tie), during a bilateral meeting at the G20 Summit in Toronto, Canada, Saturday, 26 June 2010Lord Snooty the Third Meeting with US President Barack Obama during the 2010 G20 Toronto summit.

Michelle ‘also disclosed her marriage went through some rocky times, especially after Barack Obama joined the Illinois state legislature, leaving her at home where she was forced to administer IVF shots herself.

Does Michelle realise how women who are not married to Presidents actually live? They would not consider having to ‘administer IVF shots’ themselves while their husbands were at work any great hardship.

They met a counsellor “a handful of times,” she writes, and she came to realise she was more “in charge” of her happiness than she had realised…’

As rich, powerful US citizens, Michelle and Barack would indeed have a substantial degree of control over their own happiness, even if Michelle had to inject herself while Barack was at work. The victims of Dafydd’s gang did not, no matter how often they were told that all they needed to do was to practice Mindfulness, or to ‘stay strong’, or to ‘stop catastrophizing’. They were still found dead because the Magic wasn’t sufficient to overcome the activities of a vicious gang of criminals. The Empowered Service Users and their carers would be constantly met with these sorts of platitudes whenever they tried to express their distress or desperation to the Top Doctors and others. They were continually reassured that they would be OK because they were Survivors. One man who’s relatives were told this after they raised their deepest concerns regarding his ability to cope was found dead weeks later. It is not that I wish to suggest that promoting a ‘victim’ identity is a good idea, but people in desperate situations are not helped simply by a rather less desperate person telling them that they are a survivor instead of offering constructive support.

She told ABC: “Marriage counselling for us was one of those ways where we learned how to talk out our differences. I know too many young couples who struggle and think that somehow there’s something wrong with them. And I want them to know that Michelle and Barack Obama, who have a phenomenal marriage and who love each other, we work on our marriage. And we get help with our marriage when we need it.”

Oh please. Are you and Barack such perfect, indeed phenomenal, people that the whole world only has to follow your shining example Michelle?? Just like those bloody arms of yours, to which middle-aged women were told to aspire? Don’t you realise that in the US as well as in other parts of the world, millions of people do not have the luxury of ‘getting help with their marriage’? Getting help with one’s marriage is a first world problem Michelle, rather like acquiring upper arms which are toned. If you are poor and busy, you don’t usually have such luxuries. And of course, many people who do ‘get help with their marriage’ do not find it that helpful. Experiences are mixed.

The couple met at the Chicago law firm Sidley Austin. In the book, Obama also describes falling in love one summer night in Chicago. “As soon as I allowed myself to feel anything for Barack, the feelings came rushing – a toppling blast of lust, gratitude, fulfilment, wonder.”

This is quite poignant, I’ve just read Cherie Booth’s autobiography, ‘Speaking For Myself’ and that volume, rather than being any meaningful analysis or inquiry, is full of this sort of thing, only being Cherie there’s also a lot about the size of her bum and her hips and how she couldn’t have managed without her hairdresser Andre travelling with her and how outrageous it was that Cherie wasn’t given a state-funded ‘budget’ to ‘dress’ herself.

Are there not a great many people living in considerable hardship in the US at the moment Michelle? Now, remind me, who won the last US Presidential election? Was it the Democrat candidate or the Republican candidate??? They were both very rich, but I can remember who won as a result of the great deal of disillusionment with the Democrat candidate… I wouldn’t have voted for Trump but I wouldn’t have voted for the rich spoiled white woman who blamed the women who had been sexually exploited by her husband for their own predicament either.

Obama’s speech at the 2016 Democratic convention in Philadelphia, in the throes of a presidential election, remains widely seen as the archetypal antidote to Trumpism. Her plea “When they go low, we go high,” became a cri de cœur for many progressives, though some say it is now time to fight the president on his own terms.

Your side lost Michelle. For some reason the glamour and glitz and the phenomenal marriage and the muscly arms did not achieve the desired effect.

Yes, you mentioned the ‘wingnuts’ and ‘kooks’ earlier. Was your family’s safety REALLY at risk Michelle? Just because Trump was rude? Furthermore I imagine that your family has a high degree of security, far higher than former British political leaders enjoy and they are pretty well-protected.

I am in hiding Michelle, one of my friends was murdered and attempts were made to kill two others. None of us has security and neither were we warned that a gang of very dangerous organised criminals had targeted us. When other victims of the gang complained about being terrorised or violently assaulted, they were dismissed by everyone as being nutters. That’s English for ‘wingnuts’ and ‘kooks’.

Trump suggested repeatedly and loudly in high-profile public forums that Barack Obama, who father was Kenyan, was not born in the US but on foreign soil and therefore ineligible for president. In fact, Barack Obama was born in Hawaii and eventually displayed his birth certificate. Trump eventually, reluctantly, conceded the US president was American-born.

Obama writes: “The whole thing was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed. But it was also dangerous, deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks. Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this I’d never forgive him.”

It wasn’t very nice of him Michelle, but it wasn’t really a serious threat to your physical safety was it?

She expresses disbelief over how so many women would choose a “misogynist” in Trump over Hillary Clinton in 2016. She remembers how her body “buzzed with fury” after seeing the infamous Access Hollywood tape, in which Trump brags about sexually assaulting women.

Indeed, Trump’s comments were appalling, but instead of expressing disbelief Michelle, you have to ask yourself why so many women did vote for Trump. There were analyses suggesting that Hillary was a toxic choice of candidate but no-one would listen. Hillary herself openly sneered and laughed at Bernie Sanders when he made a supportive comment to her during the campaigning, which Hillary interpreted as suggesting that she was the better candidate. Christ, I wouldn’t vote for someone who conducted themselves like that towards another candidate behaving gracefully.

Obama also accuses Trump of using body language to ‘stalk’ Clinton during an election debate. Trump’s message, according to Obama, in words which appear in the book in darkened print, was: “I can hurt you and get away with it.”

Trump didn’t hurt Clinton. He was moving around very close behind her, but he didn’t touch her. It was in a public place, in front of journos and cameras and Hillary’s supporters claiming that she was ‘stallked’ is insulting to people who really have been stalked. Interestingly enough Michelle, the members of that criminal gang told everyone who would listen that I was ‘stalking’ them. Now I have 10,000 documents written and signed by them clearly demonstrating that it was me who was being stalked by them. A claim – particularly by a famous woman – that they are being ‘stalked’ is easy to make and whips up emotions very easily, particularly if the putative ‘stalker’ is male.

Er, isn’t Hillary supposed to be a Strong Woman??? What Strong Woman feels ‘stalked’ and ‘hurt’ by a rather rude man moving around behind her in a crowded forum with security and cameras everywhere?

She writes how she reacted in shock the night she learned he would replace her husband in the Oval Office and tried to “block it all out”.

I’d Get Help with that if I was you Michelle…

Memoirs by former first ladies, including Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush, have been bestsellers. ‘Becoming’ is part of a joint book deal with Barack Obama – whose memoir is expected next year – that is thought to be worth tens of millions of dollars.

Ah!!! OK, we have the rationale… Michelle has learnt how to control her own happiness…

The Obamas have said they will donate a “significant portion” of their author proceeds to charity, including the Obama Foundation. Obama launches her promotional tour on Tuesday at Chicago’s United Center, where tens of thousands of people have bought tickets – ranging from just under $30 to thousands of dollars – to attend the event moderated by Oprah Winfrey. Other stops on a tour worthy of a rock star are planned at large arenas including New York City’s Barclays Center and the Los Angeles Forum.

Will there be a bit more PR for a deeply corrupt medico-legal profession on the tour Michelle? We may well be in for a massive dose of such PR, because the according to ‘The New York Times’ Barack and Michelle are in talks to produce shows for Netflix and one possible show idea was for Barack to moderate debates on issues such as health care, climate change and immigration- all of which dominated his eight years in the White House. Eric Schultz, a senior adviser to the former President, did not confirm the plans, but said they would make sense. “President and Mrs Obama have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire,” Schultz told the paper.

STORYTELLING – yes, it’ll be yet more ‘The doctors they were wonderful’.

Schultz stated of the Obamas that “Throughout their lives, they have lifted up stories of people whose efforts to make a difference are quietly changing the world for the better. As they consider their future personal plans, they continue to explore new ways to help others tell and share their stories.”

How about interviewing Merfyn regarding his efforts to improve the NHS in north Wales, only to find that a group of white-collar criminals conspired to allow patients to die in order to force him out of public life then Barack?

To return to The Guardian Online’s article about Michelle.

The high profile events are bound to reignite calls for a presidential run. A recent poll from Axios by SurveyMonkey found that if she ran for president in 2020, Obama would have a 13-point advantage over Trump, while TV star and media entrepreneur Oprah Winfrey would have a 12-point advantage.

Oh God, can’t a normal woman run for office, instead of massively rich women who do nothing but talk about their traumas on TV and flog everything about themselves for the highest price possible???

Obama has long said she has no interest in running for office, although she held a few campaign-style rallies before this week’s midterm elections, urging people to register to vote.

Michelle must be the only person on the planet with no interest in politics who has run a few campaign-style rallies.

She writes: ‘I’ve never been a fan of politics, and my experience over the last ten years has done little to change that. I continue to be put off by the nastiness.’”

You are maxing out on being the First Black First Lady Michelle and as for nastiness, I think that overblown accusations that a rude, tweeting man is encouraging ‘wingnuts’ and ‘kooks’ to physically attack your very well-guarded family is pretty bloody nasty.

Here’s Michelle, shy, retiring, with no interest in politics, yet at the same time deeply inspirational and no doubt passionate as well:

“I’ll never forgive him for what he did to our United States military by not funding it properly. What he did to our military made this country very unsafe.”

There you are Michelle, you need to respond to the allegation, not simply claim that Trump is encouraging violence and stalking Hillary. After all, he won the election so you weren’t listening to something.

Author Josh Kendall, who is currently writing a book about how the #MeToo movement casts a new light on presidential history, said: “The entire nation was moved by her plea during her speech at the DNC in 2016 to ‘go high’ instead of low. I would be surprised if a draft Michelle for 2020 drive wasn’t started some time at the beginning of her book tour.”

I don’t think that I’ll be able to cope with a rich lawyer who was married to a President basing her own Presidential campaign on a social media storm which claimed to represent powerless women… I had thought that nothing could surpass the party that Hillary organised for herself with the glass ceiling that she was going to symbolically break as soon as she was elected because she just KNEW that she was going to win, she didn’t need to wait for the voters to decide. Hillary had been booked for an appearance on ‘Woman’s Hour’ as well very soon after the date of the election and for weeks beforehand the ‘Woman’s Hour’ presenters kept telling listeners to remember to tune in because they would be hearing an interview with America’s First Woman President.

There was only thing that none of them accounted for:

  • boundaries – Omnipleasant

After Computer Said No, Hillary cancelled her appearance on ‘Woman’s Hour’. Which I thought was very rude of her what with all those Wimmin waiting to hear from their role model and Jenni Murray ready to toady and admire as never before, even if Hillary lost.

Someone in north Wales was as upset about Hillary not becoming President as ‘Woman’s Hour’ was, an Angel called Dee Jones aka Dee Gray. Dee was sacked from successive jobs but always bagged another one by blackmailing people with regard to her knowledge of criminal wrongdoing in the NHS in north Wales. Dee asked me to plant untrue damaging stories in the press about Merfyn when he was VC of Bangor University. When I refused, Dee yelled at me that Brown and I publishing about the abuse of psych patients in the NHS was damaging her career. Dee subsequently set up an Executive Coaching Consultancy and she is now selling her questionable expertise to the NHS Trusts that she knows to be neglecting and harming patients. See previous posts. After Hillary lost the election, Dee sent out furious tweets asking why a bad man always wins over a good woman…

At the end of the article about Michelle Obama, there was the following comment: ‘The Guardian is editorially independent, meaning we set our own agenda. Our journalism is free from commercial bias and not influenced by billionaire owners, politicians or shareholders. No one edits our editor. No one steers our opinion. This is important because it enables us to give a voice to the voiceless, challenge the powerful and hold them to account. It’s what makes us different to so many others in the media, at a time when factual, honest reporting is critical.’
It was ‘The Guardian’ who, back in the early 1990s, published untrue, damaging accusations that a senior sociologist at UCNW (Bangor University) was racially discriminating when making academic appointments, during the bun fight which resulted when Merfyn’s late wife Nerys crossed the path of Dafydd’s gang (see post ‘Badlands’). ‘The Guardian’ has never published anything about the en masse trafficking of children and vulnerable people by criminal gangs facilitated by the medical profession/NHS, with the active, willing involvement of social workers. The Guardian’s ‘Society’ pages for years accepted lucrative advertising funding from Social Services Depts which had been infiltrated by paedophile gangs without publishing anything about the abuse of children in those Depts. ‘The Guardian’ has robustly promoted Professor Peter Beresford as the Voice of the Mental Health Service User and has given his views much coverage, yet Beresford, a former social worker, has never been honest about the degree of abuse to which psych patients are subjected by the staff of the mental health services.
Merfyn’s late wife Nerys lived and worked in the US herself for a number of years; she was a sociologist who worked with Talcott Parsons’ team at Harvard. Nerys was previously married to a very high profile black Professor of Sociology at Harvard, known for his historical and cultural work on race in the US.
Michelle and Barack Obama are both graduates of Harvard Law School.
The person who co-ordinated the undermining of Merfyn when he was VC of Bangor University was Professor Fergus Lowe, an academic in the Psychology Dept who had been at Bangor since the early 1970s. When Fungus first joined that Dept, it was dominated by Dafydd and others who colluded with the abuse of children and psych patients in north Wales. In the late 1980s, Fungus overthrew Dafydd and dominated the Dept himself. Fungus then built his empire on the basis of his knowledge of who had colluded with Dafydd’s gang and basically blackmailed them. By such a process, Fungus netted millions and millions in research grant funding.
The University authorities planned to close the Psychology Dept at Bangor in the mid-1980s, because it was very small, failing and riddled with Dafydd’s corruption. It was Fungus who saved the Dept from closure, by holding a conference to which he invited the famous Harvard Professor of Psychology, B.F. Skinner. Fungus ensured that the conference and Skinner’s presence there received full media coverage and persuaded B.F. Skinner to lend his weight to the campaign to keep the Psychology Dept open. The real reason why the Dept remained open was that behind the scenes Fungus made it quite clear to people in High Places that the Psychology Dept was facilitating a paedophile/trafficking ring with links to the Royal Family and he had the names and details of the crimes of everyone involved. B.F. Skinner was used for PR.
See eg. posts ‘He’s Not The Messiah, He’s A Very Naughty Boy’, ‘Feet In Chains’ and ‘Sleeping With The Fishes’ and ‘Pets Win Prizes’ for more information about Fungus and the Psychology Dept at Bangor.
Fungus’s attack on Merfyn was launched while Merfyn’s wife Nerys was dying from a brain tumour after she had been told that there was no effective treatment available. Nerys died in the ‘care’ of the Walton Centre at Liverpool. The Walton Centre is run by Dafydd’s associates. Obviously I do not have any documentation relating to Nerys, but I have documentation relating to my own case which demonstrates quite clearly that no Top Docs anywhere in the UK would agree to provide me with effective treatment after I had complained about Dafydd and the gang. One of the most influential Top Docs with regard to the Walton Centre was Professor Robert Owen. Owen was the man who co-ordinated the cover-up when I complained about Dafydd and the gang in the 1980s. See posts ‘Enter Professor Robert Bluglass CBE’ and ‘In Memoriam – Professor Robert Owen’.
Nerys’s ex-husband served as special adviser to Michael Manley, PM of Jamaica, 1972-79. He has appeared on PBS and has been a guest columnist in ‘The New York Times’. One of his recent articles in the latter, “The Real Problem With America’s Inner Cities,” used the lens of developmental sociology to analyse recent protests and looting in West Baltimore. In October 2015 he received the Gold Musgrave Medal in recognition of his contribution to literature.
Nerys’s ex-husband is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; Ernest W. Burgess Fellow of the American Academy of Political and Social Science; a Member of the American Sociological Association; and a Member of the Board of Directors of the New York Civil Rights Coalition.

I mentioned earlier in this post that I have not blogged about the worst of my experiences. Neither have I blogged about the worst of other people’s experiences, but I won’t forget what has happened to people who dared challenge the Top Doctors. Think about it Michelle, you’ll know who and what I am referring to here… Dafydd’s gang and their international network inflicted enormous damage on a great many people. As I mentioned in ‘The Point Is To Change It’, they stop at nothing, which of course your interview with ABC yesterday demonstrated. Now I suggest that the whole lot of you do as I requested in a previous blog post and belt up, because I have a great deal of very, very damning evidence and those deaths of NHS patients in north Wales are not going to go away, no matter how many flattering comments rich, powerful Americans make about the Top Doctors.

It is worth noting that when Barack Obama was pushing his Obamacare through, there were a great many UK NHS scandals which were never reported in the media. There was no discussion of the enormous problems with corruption in the NHS on the part of those Americans who were using the NHS as an exemplar of all that is selfless and pure about healthcare provision.

Merfyn is not big and American, in fact as that pompous wally Michael Grade enjoyed reminding Merfyn at a Meet The Governors evening in Cardiff, he’s small and Welsh. But he took on a bunch of absolute bastards that the Big Americans would not.

God how bloody pathetic they all are. This is who they are all pushing out so many boats to protect:

Dr Dafydd Alun Jones

Now Then…

When I was an undergrad at UCNW I was friends with a PhD student who had done his first degree at Liverpool University. He was an outstanding student but he didn’t get a First because although he achieved the highest mark in his finals papers that anyone on his course had ever achieved, his final year project, by his own admission, was a laughable disgrace because he’d got bored with it and gone off fishing instead. The external examiner for his course had been Professor Geoff Sagar, who was a plant biologist at UCNW and who must have known about Dafydd and the paedophiles, but I didn’t realise that at the time. The PhD student entertained everyone at Bangor with his story of Sagar conducting his viva, which went very well until Sagar paused and said ‘Now Then’ – and pulled out the shameful joke of a project, dumped it on the desk and asked the student to explain himself. He didn’t really have an excuse, so he ended up with a 2:1.

As the Top Docs continue their screaming and stamping of feet amidst demands for more money, even in the wake of the Gosport War Memorial Hospital Scandal, I thought that it was about time that the Top Docs were given a Sagaresque Now Then moment. Keep reading, it’ll be coming later in this post.

In the aftermath of the Gosport Scandal, this morning the ‘Today’ programme on Radio 4 interviewed Professor Sir Brian Jarman. Jarman has been studying mortality rates in the NHS for years now – so he knew what was going on at Gosport but said nothing – and knows how dangerous and dire parts of the NHS are. Justin Webb just about dragged an admission out of Jarman that ‘perhaps’ a Gosport-like situation ‘might’ be happening right now somewhere in the NHS (read the ‘Daily Post’ Mr Webb, it won’t be rocket science to work out where the current Gosport is taking place). Brian Jarman was honest enough to say that whistleblowing is impossible in the NHS. Which is why Brian Jarman has never done it.

Brian Jarman was Professor of Primary Health Care and General Practice, 1983−98, at what is now called Imperial College School of Medicine and remains within that Dept in an Emeritus capacity. The wrongdoing of those within that institution has featured extensively on this blog, particularly the contingent at Hammersmith Hospital/RPMS.

Jarman was President of the BMA from 2003−4. So it’s Jarman’s peers who are lying, concealing patient harm and deaths, colluding with serious crime and terrorising anyone who looks in danger of being a whistleblower.

Jarman developed he Hospital Standardised Mortality Ratio (HSMR) methodology in his capacity as Director of the Dr Foster Unit at Imperial College, London. This method was applied by Dr Foster Intelligence.

Jarman is also part-time Senior Fellow at the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, Boston, USA.

Jarman originally trained in the natural sciences, graduating from Cambridge in 1954 and completing a PhD in Geophysics at Imperial College in 1960. Jarman and Imperial go back a long way then. He’ll know the Imperial big wigs who have starred on this blog previously, after using their knowledge of wrongdoing to advance the cause of Imperial College and themselves, for example Lord Brian Flowers (see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’).

After working for Shell Oil Company for three years as an exploration geologist in the Sahara and elsewhere, Jarman switched to medicine, completing a medical degree at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School in 1969. He then worked at St Mary’s, as a Clinical Fellow at Harvard and elsewhere in hospital posts. Jarman has pioneered work in the development of socio-economic indicators of health status (Under Privileged Area scores or Jarman Index). Part of his current work includes calculating adjusted hospital death rates in England, USA, Sweden and the Netherlands and helping hospitals to use the analyses to introduce improvements in care in order to reduce death rates.

Jarman challenged the accepted ideas on the provision of beds in London and, following his special University Lecture at the invitation of Sir Colin Dollery, a Committee of Health Authority Chief Executives was formed to revise previous bed closure plans. Jarman was European Editor of ‘Journal Watch’ (a sister publication of the New England Journal of Medicine) until 2004 and frequently participates in national and international advisory work as well as in the development of Medical Informatics.

Malcolm Pearce of St George’s Hospital Medical School published in the New England Journal of Medicine when I worked at St George’s, 1989-91. On that occasion Malcolm published on the use of Doppler ultrasound scans. In 1995 Malcolm was struck off  for research fraud. Some of Malcolm’s previous work had been shown to be fraudulent as well, but I don’t think that his work on Doppler ultrasound was reinvestigated. Jarman will have known about Malcolm’s work being unmasked as fraudulent by 1995.

Sir Colin Dollery graduated in physiology and medicine from Birmingham University in 1956 and was Vice-President of the NUS. So he probably knew Fred Jarvis, the trade unionist, who was President of the NUS, 1952-54, General Secretary of the NUT, 1975-89 and President of the TUC in 1987. The NUT and TUC both concealed organised abuse, including that of Dafydd and the paedophile gang in north Wales.

Dollery worked at Hammersmith Hospital, 1958-96. He too will have known of the research fraud and misconduct that was rampant in that institution throughout those years. Dollery worked there when Hugh Bentall purchased his Chair in Cardiac Surgery and at the time of the worrying death of Bentall’s senior colleague Prof Ian Aird at Hammersmith Hospital not long before that (see post ‘Interesting Facts’).

Dollery was Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and Medicine at Hammersmith/RPMS. I did an MSc at RPMS, 1986-87, which was taught jointly by the Depts of Histopathology and Clinical Pharmacology, but I don’t remember Colin Dollery. However, some of the clinical pharmacologists spent so much time acting as consultants to Big Pharma that they were not in RPMS that much.

Dollery was Dean of the RPMS 1993-96 and Pro Vice-Chancellor for Medicine of the University of London over a similar period. So Dollery was PVC for London University when Professor Geoffrey Chamberlain and Malcolm Pearce carried out their research fraud at St George’s in 1994.

Colin Dollery is at present Senior consultant for GSK, a position that he has held since Sept 1996. He sits on their Global Safety Board, Scientific Review Board and until recently the Portfolio Investment Board. When I was at RPMS, someone there had good links to SKF – which later became GSK – because in 1988 our MSc class went on a three day placement to SKF. It was interesting, but we were told very frankly by the SKF pharmacologist who spent most of the time with us – who had left his job at Guy’s after being lured by a much higher salary at SKF – that he would never dare challenge his managers. In fact he was so frightened of them that when it was realised that we had left our bags in a room which had subsequently been occupied by a group of middle managers for a meeting, the former Guy’s researcher was too frightened to go into the room to retrieve our gear, on the grounds of ‘that sort of thing can really damage your career here’. So we had to wait ages for the meeting to finish. Nonetheless, he told us that it was great at SKF and he’d never bother to work in a university again.
The former Guy’s researcher might have toadied with the best, but it didn’t save his bacon. I kept in touch with someone who knew him and about 12 months later he lost his job. He didn’t even interrupt a meeting, his division was shut down at short notice and everyone made redundant because SKF simply felt like it.
Brian Jarman has had no such interruptions to his career. Jarman was so sought after by Gov’t that he was a member of the London Strategic Review Panel, set up by the then Health Secretary, Frank Dobson, to advise the Department of Health on the development of hospitals, medical education and the research needs of London, which reported in Feb 1998.
Dobbo and Blair concealed many disasters and deaths in the NHS, including of course Mid-Staffs (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part IV’).
From 1999-01, Jarman was a panel member of the Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry, which investigated the Bristol Children’s Heart Surgery Scandal. Which no-one ever got to the bottom of, because so many of their peers in children’s cardiac surgery could not be relied upon to give an honest assessment of their colleague’s work – including the crack team from Hammersmith/RPMS.
Jarman became a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 1984. So he will have known Dr D.G.E. Wood, the corrupt GP who facilitated the sex trafficking gang in north Wales and who held high office in the Royal College of GPs for years from the 1980s onward. I bet that Wood knew Hugh Bentall as well and Hugh’s son Richard, who was a psychology student at UCNW when Wood was running that trafficking gang under the guise of being the UCNW students’ GP. Richard Bentall later became a Prof of Psychology at Bangor (see post ‘Interesting Facts’).
Brian Jarman was knighted in 1998. After the Waterhouse Report had heard evidence from the former residents of children’s homes in north Wales and their accounts of beatings and sexual abuse had been met with accusations from the Waterhouse Inquiry panel and lawyers that they were a bunch of lying bastards.

Now Then.

Geoffrey Victor Price Chamberlain (21 April 1930 – Oct 2014) was Professor and Academic Head of the Department of Obs and Gynae at St George’s, who along with his colleague Malcom Pearce became embroiled in a huge research fraud scandal in the mid-1990s, of which I have blogged much about in previous posts.

One of Chamberlain’s interests was in maternal mortality and he often presented to the triennal Confidential Enquiries into Maternal Death Reports. He frequently recommended GP Irvine Loudon’s book, Death in Childbirth, which he described as ‘first rate’ and Chamberlain authored articles on the subject.

During the 1980s, a patient died from eclampsia at St George’s. It should never have happened, but it did because her care was not what it should have been. There was much bad feeling towards Chamberlain on the part of the midwives at St George’s because, according to them, this lady died as a result of a cock-up on the part of a Top Doc, but if that had been admitted it would have damaged Chamberlain and his team, so Chamberlain investigated and wrote a report blaming a midwife instead.

Dr Irvine Loudon’s obituary describes Louden as ‘gifted as a doctor, particularly in the field of obstetrics, as a medical historian, and as an artist’. He published widely on childbirth fever and maternal mortality. The 2005 World Health Organisation Report ‘Make Every Child and Mother Count’ cites Loudon first in its references.

Loudon was born in Cardiff in 1924, the son of a Scottish GP. After the Cathedral School in Llandaff – Chamberlain attended this school as well – and Dauntsey’s School in Wiltshire, Louden read medicine at the Queen’s College, Oxford, joining the RAF during WWII. After Oxford, he chose general practice; he ‘wanted to serve the community and be in charge of his own work’. A forceful defender of the NHS (he refused to take private patients), Loudon brought about one of the country’s first purpose-built health centres next to the hospital. Loudon wouldn’t have needed private patients – he’d had his mouth stuffed with gold by Nye Bevan (see post ‘The History, Boys…’) and as a GP he could do what he wanted into the bargain.

An interest in medical history caused Irvine Loudon, in 1982, to join the Wellcome History of Medicine Unit as a research fellow. He was made an honorary fellow of Green College (now Green Templeton College), Oxford in 1999. Loudon’s other books included ‘Medical Care and the General Practitioner 1750-1850’ and ‘The Tragedy of Childbed Fever’.

So Loudon was another Top Doc who wrote the history of those who went before him and influenced what others wrote about more recent Top Docs, including his senior colleagues. Perhaps Loudon influenced the paedophiles’ friends of north Wales who developed a sudden interest in publishing on the history of the North Wales Hospital Denbigh in the 1990s, when the police investigations into the abuse of children in north Wales began (see post ‘More Alan Bennett’).

Whatever Happened to Treason? – COUNTRY SQUIRE MAGAZINE

Loudon’s interests included graphic art. In Oxford he took classes in life drawing. In 1983 Louden learnt to etch at the Oxford Printmakers Co-operative and his well-observed and skilfully made etchings brought election to the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 1995. He exhibited mostly at Bankside Gallery, London, Oxford Art Society and the Dolphin Gallery, Wantage.

In his role with the National Birthday Trust, Geoffrey Chamberlain directed four national surveys of British obstetrics. The National Birthday Trust was a charity which promoted safer childbirth. After he left Oxford University in the mid-60s, Jeffrey Archer worked as a fundraiser for the National Birthday Trust (see post ‘Tuppence And His Fragrant Wife’).

In Dec 1994 Chamberlain was obliged to resign from his Chair, his Editorship of the British Journal of Obs and Gynae and his Presidency of the Royal College of Obs and Gynae, following the dismissal from St George’s of his colleague Malcolm Pearce for research fraud (see post ‘I Don’t Believe It!’). Although Chamberlain’s name was on the paper in question, Chamberlain gave evidence against Malcolm and swore blind that he had not known about the fraud and that this whole messy business was simply a result of a ‘gift authorship’, Chamberlain’s name only appearing on the paper because he was Head of Dept.

Whilst gift authorship was common and some people’s names did appear on papers although they had not carried out the work themselves, the article which resulted in Pearce being sacked and struck off claimed that a near-miraculous operation had been carried out at St George’s by Pearce – the successful transfer of an embryo of an ectopic pregnancy from the fallopian tube to the uterine cavity. Chamberlain was extroverted and media friendly, if such a feat had been performed at St George’s, he would have demanded to meet the mother and the baby for media and PR purposes. Chamberlain wouldn’t have just merely rubber-stamped Malcolm’s paper, he’d have wanted a peerage out of that. Where were the mother and baby? Where were the theatre team who had assisted in the operation? Chamberlain must have known that no such operation had taken place when that paper was written, but Chamberlain threw Pearce to the wolves to save his own skin. Which, with Chamberlain’s celebrity friendships and him also being mates with Sir George Pinker, the Royal gynaecologist (see post ‘Wimmin’s Wellbeing – The Fortnum and Mason Connection’), he was able to do.

Despite the tainting of his reputation, in 2000 Chamberlain was offered sanctuary by Swansea University – an institution heavily influenced by Rhodri Morgan and Edwina Hart – where he published an internationally acclaimed textbook, From Witchcraft to Wisdom, whilst teaching history of medicine as an Apothecaries’ lecturer (see post ‘They Are MYRIAD, They Are Legion’). In a previous post I speculated that Chamberlain would have remained living in London nevertheless, but according to Chamberlain’s wiki entry, he did relocate to Wales. Just in time for the publication/immediate aftermath of the Waterhouse Report then, which covered up the paedophile ring that Chamberlain and his colleagues had been colluding with and concealing for years.

At the time of the submission of the Waterhouse Report, Alun Michael stepped down as FM and Rhodri Morgan succeeded him. Jane Hutt was the Welsh Gov’ts Health Minister. Hutt was a former social worker and her father was the Top Doctor Michael Hutt. Michael Hutt was educated at Eastbourne College, then at London University and at Tommy’s. After spending most of the 1960s in Uganda (yes, really), Michael Hutt returned to the UK to take up the Chair of Geographical Pathology at Tommy’s, which he held until his retirement in 1983, when he became an Emeritus. Professor Jim Watson, who worked at the Maudsley with Dafydd and spent years protecting him, subsequently passed through St George’s Hospital Medical School, setting up a sex therapy clinic there and then set up a sex therapy clinic at Guy’s and St Thomas’s. Ed Miliband’s notorious Uncle Harry, being a Top Doctor at Guy’s and Tommy’s, will also have been networked into this merry crowd.

‘We’re the paedophiles’ friends and you can’t get us.’

Chamberlain was born in Hove, Sussex, although his father, Albert Victor Chamberlain, was the Lord Mayor of Cardiff’s Secretary. Geoffrey Chamberlain’s early education was at Llandaff Cathedral School, followed by Cowbridge Grammar School, before he went on to UCL to study medicine.

Chamberlain’s ‘flair at rugby at school’ earned him the nickname ‘Bodger’. Chamberlain revelled in that nickname, he had a tankard with ‘Bodger’ engraved on it which he produced at graduation for the entertainment and delight of the parents of the newly qualified Top Docs. People also gave Chamberlain prezzies and cards with ‘Bodger’ on them, although you could only call him Bodger if you were quite senior. I once remarked to a junior doctor at St George’s who was rather saner than the rest of them that I hoped that the name Bodger wasn’t a reference to Prof’s clinical skills and she said ‘don’t even think of joking about that…’

So as a Top Doc who was a rugger bugger with links to south Wales, Bodger will have known Tasker Watkins, the Greatest Living Welshman, friend of Ronnie Waterhouse as well as of Dafydd and the paedophiles. Tasker was President of the Welsh Rugby Union, 1993-04. He was also Presiding judge of the Chester and Wales Circuit, 1975-80 and was appointed Deputy Lord Chief Justice by Lord Chief Justice Geoffrey Lane in 1988. It was Geoffrey Lane who infuriated the police when he released Prof Oliver Brooke of St George’s from prison after he was convicted of possessing child porn early on appeal. Tasker had numerous other roles, including that of the Chairman of the Mental Health Review Tribunal Wales Region, 1960-71 and President of the Welsh National School of Medicine, 1987-99, whilst senior figures in that institution concealed the serious crime of the Top Docs in north Wales.

There was a very strong link between the paedophile gang in north Wales and rugby. The Bryn Estyn staff were nearly all members of Wrexham Rugby Club and recruitment for staff was actually carried out via Wrexham Rugby Club. Even one of the very few women who was employed at Bryn Estyn was associated with Wrexham Rugby Club.

The Waterhouse Report admits that the link between Bryn Estyn staff and Wrexham Rugby Club was undesirable and problematic, but of course Sir Ronnie didn’t ask what the heck was going on. He just observed and moved on…

That link between Rugby and the gang may not have been confined to the Bryn Estyn/Wrexham contingent. Ioan Bowen Rees, the Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council whilst Dafydd’s mistress Lucille Hughes was Director of Social Services and the gang colonised the Council’s children’s homes, was President of Bethesda Rugby Club.

I know normal people who play rugby as well – one of my closest friends was a member of Bethesda Rugby Club for years – but it was probably that Rugby was being used as a networking opportunity on the part of the paedophiles’ friends, in the same way that the choirs in north Wales were. Rugby is popular among medical students and younger Top Docs. Dr D.G.E. Wood, a facilitator of the sex trafficking gang and a GP in north Wales, was an enthusiastic rugby player when he was young.

In the 1980s Cardiff Medical School’s rugby club were notorious and deeply unpopular. They went rather further than the usual drunken fuckwittery and one of them carried out sexual assaults on a number of women. There was much outrage on the part of other students in Cardiff that there was never any prosecutions and that he was allowed to qualify.

Chamberlain’s early appointments included posts at Hammersmith Hospital/Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital for Women and King’s College Hospital, London.

So Chamberlain will have known about the excesses at RPMS (see post ‘Interesting Facts’), as well as Jimmy Savile being associated with GOSH (see post ‘They Are MYRIAD, They Are Legion’). Audrey Callaghan, wife of James Callaghan, served as Chairman of the Board of Governors of GOSH, 1968-72 and then as Chairman of the Special Trustees, 1983-90. Audrey and Jim Callaghan knowingly concealed and colluded with Leo Abse to conceal the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophiles and played an active role in the expansion of children’s homes in north Wales in which children were abused and then trafficked (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’). It was at Queen Charlotte’s and the Chelsea that Chamberlain worked with Top Doc to the Royals Sir George Pinker.

Following these London posts, between 1965-66, Chamberlain taught at the George Washington Hospital, Washington DC, USA. It was during these years that he performed his ‘controversial’ foetal and placental research, that is not widely discussed.

Now Then.

Suzanne Rini’s volume ‘Beyond Abortion: a chronicle of fetal experimentation’ discusses Chamberlain’s research at the George Washington Hospital. Rini tells us that in the 1960s, some very controversial experiments on foetuses were carried out in the cause of trying to improve technology for caring for premature babies. The work was carried out on viable foetuses delivered as a result of hysterectomies. One Top Doctor involved in such work was Geoffrey Chamberlain and in March 1968 the American Journal of Obs and Gynae published some of Chamberlain’s work in this area, which Chamberlain had carried out whilst he was at the George Washington Hospital. The paper in question was entitled ‘An Artificial Placenta: The Development of an Extra Corporeal System for the Maintenance of Immature Infants With Respiratory Problems’.

Chamberlain practised and tested his equipment on living aborted babies whom he could not allow to survive the experiment.  He gave experimental therapeutic help to one aborted baby of seven months gestation but did not allow the baby to survive. The baby concerned was delivered by hysterectomy and weighed 900 gms. After delivering the baby, Chamberlain hooked it up alive to an artificial placental unit. Notes made by Chamberlain at the time read: ‘Irregular grasping movements, twice a minute, but there was no proper respiration. Once the perfusion was stopped however the gasping respiratory efforts increased to 8 to 10 per minute. The foetus died 21 minutes after leaving the circuit’.

The baby used in this experiment survived in total for five hours after delivery. Chamberlain received a professional award for this experiment.

Lest readers delude themselves that all this may have been worth it, when I worked at St George’s, Chamberlain and others were still dreaming of the day when an artificial placenta would be developed. However, St George’s was rated very highly for its special care baby unit, which is why high risk pregnancies were so often referred for care and delivery to St George’s. The babies in the St George’s SCUBA unit who were carefully nurtured by Angels, Top Docs and frequently filmed for TV documentaries, were often considerably younger than the baby upon whom Chamberlain had experimented in Washington.

Guidelines for the availability of legal abortion in the US were not set until Jan 1973 as a result of the Roe vs Wade case. Prior to Roe vs Wade, the availability  of legal abortion varied between states. In 1967, Colorado became the first state to decriminalise abortion in cases of rape, incest, or in which pregnancy would lead to permanent physical disability of the woman. Similar laws were passed in California, Oregon, and North Carolina. In 1970, Hawaii became the first state to legalise abortions on the request of the woman and New York repealed its 1830 law and allowed abortions up to the 24th week of pregnancy. Similar laws were soon passed in Alaska and Washington. In 1970, Washington held a referendum on legalising early pregnancy abortions, becoming the first state to legalise abortion through a vote of the people.

So when Chamberlain carried out live experiments on that 7 month old foetus in Washington at some point during 1965-66, I presume that he would not have been legally allowed to have aborted that baby. Did Chamberlain’s work only remain within the law – if indeed it DID remain within the law – because a hysterectomy had been performed on the woman, rather than ‘an abortion’? I’m not sure whether Chamberlain’s work passed through an ethics committee. If it did, I suspect that porkies were told before the work began. Furthermore, I very much doubt that the mother of that foetus had the foggiest idea of what happened to it after delivery. Although Chamberlain’s work was published, it could never have come to the attention of the wider public in the US, or there would have been outrage. I doubt that many people in the UK knew about that work either.

At the time that Chamberlain carried out his live medical experiments, the US Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare was John.W. Gardner, under President Lyndon B. Johnson. During the early days of WW II, Gardner was Chief of the Latin American Section, Foreign Broadcast Intelligence Service. He subsequently entered the US Marine Corps and was assigned to O.S.S., serving in Italy and Austria.

Gardner’s term as Secretary of HEW was at the height of Johnson’s Great Society domestic agenda. During this tenure, the Department undertook both the huge task of launching Medicare, which brought health care to senior citizens and oversaw significant expansions of the landmark Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, that redefined the federal role in education and targeted funding to poor students. Gardner resigned as Head of HEW because he could not support the war in Vietnam.

Gardner had much to do with education in the US. A native of California, Gardner attended Stanford University. After gaining a PhD. in Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley in 1938, Dr Gardner taught at Connecticut and at Mount Holyoke.

Gardner joined the staff of the Carnegie Corporation of New York in 1946, and in 1955 he became President of that group and concurrently, the Carneigie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. He also served as an adviser to the U.S. delegation to the UN and as a consultant to the U.S. Air Force, which awarded him the Exceptional Service Award in 1956. Gardner was a Trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and of the Educational Testing Service and a Director of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation. He served as Chairman of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund Panel on Education.

Gardner was also the founder of two influential national U.S. organisations: Common Cause and Independent Sector. He was also the founder of two prestigious fellowship programs, the White House Fellowship and the John Gardner Fellowship at Stanford University and U.C. Berkeley.

In 1967 Gardner presided over the creation of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Gardner served on the Stanford University Board of Trustees, 1968-82.

Rhodri Morgan spent time at Harvard as a young man.

In 1984, Prof Fergus Lowe created much needed good PR for the Psychology Dept at UCNW by making links with the American psychologist B.F. Skinner and hosting him at Bangor (see post ‘He’s Not The Messiah, He’s A Very Naughty Boy’).

Foetal experiments were subsequently banned, but at the Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioural Research, 1974-78, Caspar Weinberger, in his capacity as Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under Tricky Dicky chose to reinstate them. In 1980 such work was forbidden again.

Caspar Weinberger was Chairman of the California Republican Party, 1962–68 and served as Secretary of Defence under Shotgun Ronnie, 1981-87.

Midwives Chronicle & Nursing Notes: April 1969 – Midwives ...

The St George’s special care baby unit was considered to be excellent and Chamberlain dispensed advice and patronage to charitable causes. Such organisations might like to bear in mind the sort of research that Chamberlain did which resulted in him creating an image for himself as being a man who loved being around women and kids. One of the biggest and most well-known charities which funds research into the care of premature babies is BLISS.

A quick look at BLISS’s website makes it clear that they will have funded some of Chamberlain’s colleagues. A number of the Trustees will have been associated with St George’s as well. The Trustees include civil servants from the Treasury, the DoH and other Gov’t Depts who had dealings with Chamberlain and some of them will have known that things at St George’s weren’t what they should have been. One Trustee has been on the Board of CR UK – CR UK also funded fraudulent research – and another one works for the Merton Clinical Commissioning Group, who operate on St George’s patch.

In 1954, Chamberlain entered the RNVR, before retiring in 1974 with the rank of surgeon commander. So he’ll have been part of the paedophiles’ friends Royal Navy network – Gwynne the lobotomist, Admiral Sir Alec Bingley, Louis Mountbatten, Jim Callaghan and others as detailed in my post ‘The Defence Of The Realm’.

After holding a consultant post at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital for 12 years from 1970, in 1982 Chamberlain was appointed Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St George’s Hospital Medical School, where he remained until his resignation in 1995.

In 1989, Chamberlain was elected President of the section of obstetrics and gynaecology at the Royal Society of Medicine. Between 1971-94, he was actively involved in several areas of the RCOG, being elected Vice-President, 1984-87 and President from 1993-94 and being a member of the Council throughout that whole time. In 1994, Chamberlain carried out the 1994 Home Birth Study, which demonstrated the safety of planned home births.

When I worked at St George’s just three years before 1994, Chamberlain was famously opposed to home births. He told everyone that he had never forgotten seeing, as a young man, a woman die from a postpartum haemorrhage and it is only in a hospital that a patient can be given the necessary care quickly enough to save their life in such circumstances. It was Malcolm Pearce who was enthusiastic about births other than those in hi-tech units and Pearce had been keen to open a midwife led unit for low risk pregnancies. Before the research fraud scandal blew up in their faces, Pearce had featured in the press, alleging that he had encountered opposition from his colleagues because of his support for a midwife-led unit.

The other thing that I remember from St George’s is that if the spouse of a member of staff was booked in to give birth there, they’d always ask for Malcolm Pearce to manage the delivery, not Chamberlain. I also heard the occasional doctor say that they would not want Chamberlain to manage their birth if they delivered at St George’s. As with all the comments made by Professor Stuart Stanton’s junior doctors that they’d never allow him to operate on them, no reasons were ever given.

Over the years, Chamberlain had witnessed an increase in attendance of the partner during labour and once said that ‘the presence of the husband in the labour room has been an advance’, they ‘can act as a referee between midwife, doctor and the woman’. They can if they are well-educated men who know how to negotiate. Over the last few years, I have heard a number of accounts of young, not very well-educated men becoming distraught whilst their partners were in distress in Ysbyty Gwynedd. The solution to a stressed out man was exactly the same solution as to an Angel being faced with a distressed mental health patient – the hospital called security and had them thrown out or arrested. I was not the only person who heard about this happening and in one case a father who’s baby was gravely ill and at risk of dying was thrown out by the police. None of these men were violent, although their ‘aggression’ was always the excuse for the police being called. They were frightened and upset.

Chamberlain was an opera buff, as was the awful Dr Cathy Wilson who worked with Chamberlain. Cathy’s official status was Reader in Reproductive Physiology, but she was essentially a high society fuckwit who screamed and swore at colleagues in the lab and occasionally threw things around. It was admitted that Wilson was a ‘health and safety risk’, but the HR Dept – led by a dreadful little creep called Frank Ball – wouldn’t say a word because Cathy was a senior member of staff. Cathy made history by intending to carry out a menorraghia study and as part of this study she organised the collection of heaps of used sanitary towels from Angels who were experiencing this problem and who trustingly volunteered to participate in the research. The sanitary towels were packed into plastic boxes by Cathy and put into cupboards in a lab for safekeeping. And forgotten about. TWO YEARS LATER, one of the research assistants found them. It was not a pretty sight…

How Cathy ever became a Reader in Reproductive Physiology was a mystery. I was told by some Top Docs that Chamberlain had arranged for her to be promoted well above her level of competence because it added status to his Dept. Chamberlain seemed to be unable to challenge Cathy but I never understood why. Knowing what I know now about St George’s, I suspect that it will have been something to do with Cathy’s social position. She lived in a very grand residence in Notting Hill Gate and came from a family of some influence in high society in London, but I never found out who her family actually were. They were probably seriously impressive in the eyes of the police and the courts because the problem of Cathy getting pissed at medical school functions and then driving home was so well-known that new members of staff would be warned not to accept lifts from her, because she was frankly dangerous on the roads. She was never even stopped by the police let alone prosecuted.

Cathy had a few celebrity friends from the world of literature who’s names she enjoyed dropping, one of which was Salman Rushdie. She was out on the town with him when he was in hiding after the fatwah, so she must have been pretty good mates with Rushdie to have known where he was.

Another regular at the opera from St George’s was Dr Nicky Mitchell-Heggs, the corrupt occupational health physician who also colluded with Dafydd and the paedophiles of north Wales.

Biographies of Chamberlain always mention that one of his hobbies was carved wooden decoy ducks. Among the many Chamberlain legends that I heard at St George’s, this was never one of them. I’m wondering if it might have been one of his little in-jokes. This was a man whom people believed was a jolly, cuddly, nice old boy, who in reality had experimented on premature babies and then killed them and was colluding with a gang of paedophiles in north Wales as well as with another gang in London. He was also party to a massive research fraud, let his partner in crime take the rap and even gave evidence against him. In true Bodger style, Chamberlain and his nearest and dearest might have thought it witty to joke about his love of decoy ducks.

According to Cathy Wilson, Chamberlain collected lame ducks rather than decoy ducks. Bodger used to employ a few people who were down on their luck to do menial tasks such as preparing rooms for seminars etc and Cathy Wilson greatly resented the presence of these lower orders in her vicinity. They were the cause of much abuse and swearing, as Cathy railed against ‘Prof’s lame ducks’. Obviously, there was only a problem with the lame ducks employed to arrange furniture, rather than the moneyed lame ducks who were given senior academic positions.

Bodger’s wiki entry mentions him sporting Dr Martens. Yes, like the tankard with Bodger’s name engraved on it, those Doc Martens were well-known – they were worn to grand social functions and were much remarked upon. I know what the purpose of those Doc Marten was. They were an advertising and marketing opportunity. Bodger’s son was one of Wayne Hemingway’s business partners in ‘Red Or Dead’ and the Doc Martens were from ‘Red Or Dead’. This was always stressed. No-one ever referred to ‘Prof’s Doc Martens’, it was always ‘Prof’s Doc Martens from his son’s shop’. Furthermore, ‘Red Or Dead’ related material was strategically placed around the Chamberlains’ house in Wimbledon on the occasions when they were holding social events. No-one could meet Bodger and not find out that his son was part of ‘Red Or Dead’.

‘Red Or Dead’ were a very successful but still a relatively cultish brand when I knew old Bodger, but in the following years that business really hit the big time, clocking up awards and expanding into a leading global brand.

In 1990, ‘Red Or Dead’ marketed their famous Space Baby transparent Doc Martens, emblazoned with photos of babies faces…

Chamberlain’s wife Jocelyn was a Top Doc cancer researcher who worked at the Middlesex Hospital. Gwynne the lobotomist’s alma mater.

Chamberlain died in October 2014. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists presents the Professor Geoffrey Chamberlain award every three years to outstanding trainees.

Chamberlain had a Harley Street practice (or to be accurate, a Wimpole Street practice) as well as his NHS work and he was well-known to many high profile Top Docs. He was mates with both Lord Robert Winston and Wendy Savage, who have carefully cultivated reputations as not being as disgusting as other Top Docs, what with them being supporters of the Labour Party and the NHS and all that. Er – OK.

After being struck off in June 1995, Malcolm Pearce was subsequently employed as a medical negligence expert. This employment wasn’t mentioned in any media outlets for a very long time, but Malcolm and his history were so well-known that many people will have realised who the negligence expert proffering advice was. I have suggested that despite knives going into people’s backs all over the place at St George’s, a safety net would have to have been provided for Pearce because of the knowledge that he had regarding the very great wrongdoing of many of his colleagues. I explained that my own chances of publishing anything that would be taken seriously at the time were wrecked by Malcolm being struck off – he had been my last mentor and academic supervisor and was now disgraced. At the same time, all those paedophiles’ friends in north Wales reinvented themselves as historians of medicine and wrote a great deal of romantic, rose-tinted, frankly untruthful ‘histories of psychiatry in north Wales’, which were accompanied by Dafydd and other paedophiles’ friends appearing in the media remembering the happy experiences and excellent care provided by the North Wales Hospital Denbigh.

Let us look further at the events which surrounded Pearce’s disgrace.

Pearce and Chamberlain published their pack of lies in the British Journal of Obs and Gynae in Aug 1994. Chamberlain was Editor-in-Chief of the journal. An unidentified whistleblower raised concerns about the veracity of the published research and the Principal of St George’s, Professor Sir William Assher, conducted an investigation.

Asscher had spent his career as a Top Doctor in Cardiff before relocating to St George’s in 1988 (see post ‘The White Heat Of This Revolution’). During his time in south Wales, Asscher had concealed much wrongdoing, including that of Dafydd and the paedophiles, including George Thomas. Asscher relocated to St George’s in the wake of the imprisonment of Professor Oliver Brooke, a paediatrician at St George’s, for the possession of child porn. Brooke’s office had been just down the corridor from Chamberlain’s and the two of them were friends. Brooke was a key figure in a pan-European child sex ring, which was linked to Dafydd’s gang.

Immediately after Asscher finished his investigation into Pearce and Chamberlain, his findings were reported to the St George’s NHS Healthcare Trust Board. On Fri 23 Dec 1994, the Trust put out a statement saying that Malcolm had been sacked with immediate effect after a disciplinary hearing which had been held on Thurs 22 Dec 1994. Journalists were unable to get hold of Malcolm, which was unsurprising, because he had been banished immediately before the Christmas break. Chamberlain had got in early and at the beginning of Dec 1994 had resigned as President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He also resigned as Editor of the journal which had published the paper with him as second author describing a research fraud of which he knew nuzzing.

When all this went on, the VC of London University was Andrew Rutherford. Rutherford was a Byron scholar, a Scot who was educated at Edinburgh University and then Oxford University. Rutherford’s first lecturing job was at Edinburgh, but in 1964 he moved to Aberdeen University. He progressed rapidly and was soon a senior manager at Aberdeen, remaining there until 1984. At Aberdeen, Rutherford had a reputation for micromanaging and maintaining an iron grip on the institution.

After Dafydd unlawfully arrested and imprisoned Mary Wynch, a secretary who worked in the Agriculture Dept at UCNW (Bangor University), in 1979, a new Professor and Head of Dept was appointed for the Agri Dept, J.B. Owen. Owen’s family were landowners from Anglesey and they had funded the establishment of the Agri Dept in Bangor years previously. Owen proved to be deeply unpopular at Bangor and remained so. Owen’s previous post had been at Aberdeen University.

Andrew Rutherford left Aberdeen in 1984 to become the Warden of Goldsmiths College, London, a post which he retained until 1992.

Lord Brian Flowers was VC of the University of London, 1985-90. Flowers was from Swansea and spent years of his career at Imperial College. He had been responsible for the oversight of RPMS throughout the years of research fraud and wrongdoing there and it was business as usual when he ran the whole of London University.

Lord Stewart Sutherland, a philosopher of religion, succeeded Flowers as VC of London University. Sutherland studied at Aberdeen University and at Corpus Christie, Cambridge. In 1965 he was appointed assistant lecturer in Philosophy at UCNW and three years later took up a post at Stirling University. In 1977 Stewart was given a Chair at King’s College, London and was subsequently appointed Vice-Principal and Principal there in 1981 and 1985 respectively.

When Sutherland stood down as VC of London University in 1992, he was appointed Chief Inspector of Schools. He succeeded this post as Principal and VC of Edinburgh University in which position he served until 2002. Sutherland was the Provost of Gresham College, 2002-08.

Sutherland was knighted in 1995, the year in which Dafydd’s accomplices Peter Morrison and Bing Spear were found dead within four days of each other and the year in which the world was told that Dafydd had retired and the North Wales Hospital Denbigh had closed down, although neither was true.

Sutherland served on HEFCE and the equivalent body in Hong Kong. Following his involvement in the establishment of the Age Concern Institute of Gerontology at King’s College in London, he was invited by the incoming Blair Gov’t in 1997 to Chair a Royal Commission on Long-Term Care of Older People.

Stewart Sutherland will have known Ed Miliband’s Uncle Harry.

In 2001, with the Waterhouse Report safely out of the way, Sutherland was given a peerage. His Senior Supporter in the introduction ceremony to the Lords was Brian Flowers. His Junior Supporter was Lord David Wilson. Wilson served as Governor of Hong Kong, 1987-92, before Chris Patten succeeded him. Wilson was Master of Peterhouse, Cambridge, 2002-08 and also Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen, 1997-13. He was Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 2010 and 2011.

As an NHS consultant who had been sacked, Pearce had the right to appeal to the Health Secretary, which at the time was Virginia Bottomley. Whether he did or not I don’t know, but Virginia, a former psychiatric social worker, had her hands full at the time with orchestrating the cunning plan that involved not putting Dafydd out to grass and not closing down the North Wales Hospital (see post ‘The Evolution Of A Drugs Baron?’).

Let me remind readers of events in north Wales whilst the Pearce-Chamberlain scandal blew up.

On 9 June 1994, Matt Arnold, the Head of Bryn Estyn, died of ‘an unspecified blood disease’. In 13 June 1994, the trial of Peter Howarth – Arnold’s colleague and friend of thirty years – for multiple sexual assaults on boys at Bryn Estyn opened at Chester Crown Court. Paul Wilson went on trial with Howarth charged with sexual abuse of the boys. On 8 July 1994, Howarth was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. Wilson was acquitted on all charges but on 28 Nov 1994, Wilson pleaded guilty to three counts of physical assault.

My files show that on 13 June 1994, Ian Rickard, a mental health services manager in Gwynedd, replied to a letter from Dafydd re Dafydd’s ‘extreme concern’ regarding the safety of him (Dafydd), his colleagues and patients ‘in relation to the above woman’ (ie. me). Rickard offered to discuss me with Dafydd any time at Dafydd’s convenience…

On 4 July 1994 Ian Rickard wrote to Tony Francis regarding me bothering Dafydd and the possibility of banning me from the hospital, although here were no examples given of whatever I was supposed to be doing that was causing such distress. Rickard also asks Francis if I should be assessed by a forensic psychiatrist. At this time Rickard’s job description was that of a ‘mental health adviser’ for Gwynedd Community Health Trust.

My files contain a copy of a letter from Mrs Joyce Kaye of the Mental Health Act Commission (Maid Marian House, Nottingham) written to Alun Davies on 7 July 1994, reminding Davies that on a visit to Ysbyty Gwynedd the Commissioners had spoken to him about me and asking Davies for an update re his investigation of my concerns.

On 4 Aug 1994, Joyce Kaye from the MHAC wrote to Alun Davies again. This letter was from Joyce on behalf of the Chief Exec of the MHAC and mentioned that it was further to her letters of 7 July 1994 and 12 July 1994 wanting an update on Davies’s investigation of my concerns. I and another patient had told the MHAC of the constant abuses of patients in north Wales, of the complete lack of any investigations into the most serious of complaints and of the constant complaints about Dafydd’s unacceptable conduct toward female patients.

In the wider world, on 12 May 1994, John Smith, the leader of the Opposition, died at Bart’s after the Top Docs ‘could not revive him’ following a heart-attack. Dafydd’s mate and protector Professor Linford Rees ruled the roost at Bart’s (see post ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’).

On 21 July 1994 Tony Blair became leader of the Opposition. The Pretty Straight Kind Of Guy who is married to a lawyer who was mates with and indeed mentor to so many of those ‘radical lawyers’ who ignored the plight of kids in care and psych patients who were being so seriously abused. In 1993 I had written to Michael Mansfield about what was happening to me in north Wales at the hands of Gwynedd Social Services. Mansfield sent me a one line reply. Tony and Cherie know many ‘radical’ lawyers and personal injury specialists – who undoubtedly know folk who have worked for the MDU and/or Hempsons, who were acting for Top Doctors against me, although they knew that perjury was being committed by their clients. Cherie’s colleague and friend Michael Beloff QC was the son of Lord Max Beloff, who was a buddy of Ioan Bowen Rees, the Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council.

Michael Mansfield lived in Wandsworth, just down the road from St George’s. Many St George’s staff lived in Wandsworth, including David Hole, the corrupt MSF rep who worked for Chamberlain. Chamberlain lived in Wimbledon, as did the crooked barrister George Carman QC, who knew about Dafydd and the paedophiles. Cherie was a member of the same chambers as Carman until 1988 and Blair was Carman’s pupil.

On 26 Aug 1994 Alun Davies wrote a memo which was circulated to Rob Evans, Tony Francis, Keith Fearns, Ella Fisk and Jackie Brandt, confirming a meeting on the same day to discuss my ‘present needs’ and to formulate a response to the Mental Health Act Commission.

The one really helpful person – my keyworker, the Hergest whistleblower – was not invited to the meeting to discuss my ‘needs’. Yet Fearns and Brandt, of Gwynedd Social Services – who had made it crystal clear that they hated me and had even lied on oath a few times in their attempts to have me imprisoned – had been invited to discuss my ‘needs’.  Fearns and Brandt had no part in my ‘care’ – although they were invited to nearly every meeting and CC’d into confidential letters about me.

On 1 Sept 1994 Alun Davies wrote to Joyce Kaye, giving details of my ‘care’ – presumably on a separate sheet, because I do not have those details. Alun Davies also told Mrs Kaye that Rob Evans – the Assistant Director of Gwynedd Social Services – would meet with me.

Rob Evans had graduated in Social Sciences from Leicester University and obtained his CQSW in 1976. Whilst Evans was in Leicester, the paedophile gang involving Frank Beck and Greville Janner was concealed by a number of people at Leicester University (see post ‘Radical Leicester And Some Other Free Radicals’). In 1992 Rob Evans was appointed Assistant Director of Gwynedd Social Services (Mental Health).

I was told that my meeting with Rob Evans was to discuss the constant aggro between Brandt, Fearns and me. However Rob didn’t discuss that. Instead Rob gave me a tutorial on ‘changing social work practice’. He explained that what was once acceptable is not any more. As an example, Rob Evans explained that when he used to take children into care, he would take their shoes away because if he didn’t they would run off. (People who had been in care in north Wales explained when they were adults that they had tried to run away from the beatings and the buggery but social workers took their shoes away so they couldn’t escape.) Rob told me that he knew some people in north Wales hated him but he didn’t care because he knew that he had done the right thing by taking their kids into care because they didn’t know how to look after them. I spent a long while wondering whether Rob Evans was just stupid, but I have come to the conclusion that he is pure bloody evil.

I last saw Rob Evans just before I left Bangor, in Tesco no less. When he saw me he told me that if I ‘arrassed him he’d call the police.

Rob Evans made a record of his meeting with me and what happened afterwards. After meeting me, Evans held a meeting with Keith Fearns and asked Fearns what he wanted him (Evans) to do with me. Fearns replied ‘lock her up’. Evans documented that he told Fearns that wasn’t possible. Fearns repeated ‘lock her up’. Evans recorded that there was no solution to this situation and because he was being transferred to a new role the following day the matter would no longer be his responsibility.

For further details on Rob and his child molesting colleagues, see post ‘I Know Nuzzing…’.

In the autumn of 1994 Dafydd had written to the MDU making ludicrous allegations, such as that I had thrown a rock through the glass door of his house at 3 am one morning, for which he did not have a shred of evidence (see post ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’). When Dafydd described events that had actually taken place as opposed to those events he described which had simply never happened at all, it was the actions of people other than me that Dafydd detailed. But nonetheless, Dafydd knew that I was the wicked genius behind it all. It was certainly true that Dafydd was the subject of much piss-taking and the butt of many jokes, but I didn’t need to encourage anyone to do that, Dafydd himself was quite sufficient. One example of ‘criminal damage’ to Dafydd’s Range Rover with which the MDU was supplied occurred when a Hergest patient drew a cartoon and carefully tucked it under one of the windscreen wipers. The incident had arisen because a group of patients had watched Dafydd arrive at the hospital, park illegally, ignore the pleas of the parking attendant – who was actually one of the patients, a man called Emlyn (one of those who died shortly after the day centre was shut and scores of patients became destitute) – and had started exchanging Dafydd anecdotes. One woman said ‘well he says the most dreadful things to you, but I think he’s trying to shock you into getting better’. Whereupon someone else said ‘what do you think he is, a Zen master??’ and drew a cartoon of a Buddha with Dafydd’s face under the slogan ‘prepare for Nirvana’ and placed it under Dafydd’s wiper. Not only did Dafydd attribute the incident to me – no I wasn’t responsible, but I did think that it was quite entertaining – but Dafydd maintained that his windscreen wiper had been wrenched back, buckled and needed repairing at the garage.

The MDU did not ask Dafydd to produce any evidence for any of his allegations. They presented them all in court as uncontested matters of fact.

On 11 Oct 1994 Dafydd wrote to John Mullen, the CEO of Gwynedd Community Health Trust, telling Mullen that he’d ordered the MDU to raise an injunction against me. Dafydd CC’d this letter to Keith Thomson. I don’t know what Thomson’s job title was at the time, but Keith Thomson eventually became the CEO of the North West Wales NHS Trust. Thomson refused to investigate serious complaints and also refused to co-operate with external NHS investigations. He declared me and a number of other people to be ‘vexatious complainants’ and on those grounds refused to answer our correspondence. On Keith Thomson’s watch, north west Wales had the second highest suicide rate among women of any area in England and Wales. It was Thomson who was summoned before the High Court in Cardiff in 2005 and ordered to hand over all documentation relating to me or face imprisonment for contempt of court. Hours later Thomson resigned. An article subsequently appeared in the ‘Daily Post’ entitled ‘Ten Years At The Top For Keith’ waxing lyrical about Thomson’s glorious career and how he was now retiring. Thomson was then awarded an OBE. He didn’t retire. Thomson went down to Pembrokeshire and became CEO of the NHS Trust there. Where there was havoc in the NHS and a paedophile ring in operation.

Rhodri Morgan was FM when Thomson was let loose on the NHS in west Wales. There was a paedophile gang in operation in west Wales which had links to the one in north Wales – Ioan Bowen Rees, the Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council who was in post whilst the paedophile gang in were busy on his turf, had previously been County Secretary of Dyfed County Council, whilst a paedophile gang were busy there (see post ‘I Know Nuzzing…’). Rhodri’s wife Julie is a former social worker who was Assistant Director of Barnardo’s. Some Barnardo’s staff were involved with the abuse of children in north Wales.

On 3 Nov 1994 Dafydd obtained a High Court injunction against me on the basis of a truly extraordinary affidavit in which he discussed his anus of all things (see post ‘These Sharks Are Crap As Well’). The official who served the injunction on me had read it and was laughing, I was later told that the Bangor police heard about the contents and were having a good laugh and I took it into the Hergest Unit to show everyone. Tony Francis was attempting to section one patient on that day for unclear reasons and interestingly enough when this man recited the contents of the injunction and told the assessing ‘second opinions’ that it had been passed around the day centre to great amusement, all talk of sectioning him was quietly dropped. This man was yet another person who disappeared without trace after the day centre closed. He was a lecturer from Bangor University who had experienced a breakdown. Bright, well-read and someone who would have been in a position to witness just how outrageous and crazy Dafydd’s conduct was if there was ever any sort of inquiry into the abuse of vulnerable people in north Wales.

So is Dave Nunn now dead along with all the rest of the witnesses then Dafydd?

An injunction wasn’t enough for Dafydd. He also demanded that an alarm system be installed in the Hergest Unit – because of the danger that I represented to him. On 1 Nov 1994 Alun Davies wrote a letter to John Mullen regarding the alarm system as required by Dafydd. Alun Davies estimated the cost at 25k and told Mullen in his letter that he wanted to discuss the funding with Mullen.

Meanwhile, I had made representation about Dafydd’s injunction. Not about the fact that Dafydd had discussed his anus in the affidavit or the crazed allegations that another patient losing his temper with Dafydd and telling Dafydd that he was going to stick a hand-grenade up Dafydd’s bum was evidence that I was about to murder Dafydd using a rectal method. I had made representation because among the gossip, speculation and mad fantasy in Dafydd’s injunction, he had breached confidence. He had provided clinical details of a matter involving me many years previously which had no relevance to the injunction or to any of Dafydd’s claims re the danger that I presented to him. I remembered how many times people had told me that they wouldn’t complain about Dafydd ‘because he knows things about me and he’ll tell people’. I knew enough to know that Dafydd was not on sound ground including some of the comments that he had in his affidavit. So I wrote to the NHS authorities in north Wales making it clear that Dafydd had now done what he was constantly alleged to do in the face of challenge – he had breached confidence and this time in the High Court in Liverpool.

On 11 Nov 1994 John Mullen wrote to the Medical Director of Gwynedd Community Health Trust, Jeremy Corson, asking him to investigate my complaint re Dafydd and the breach of confidence. I was told constant lies over the following few months and my complaint was never investigated or resolved. Then, in Jan 1995, came Tony Francis’s referral of me to a forensic psychiatrist on the grounds of my extreme dangerousness and the necessity of banging me up. And a repeat referral when the forensic psychiatrist in question refused to declare me dangerous. Please see post ‘The Banality Of Evil’ for details.

So unbeknown to me, whilst repeated attempts were made to have me declared dangerous and incarcerated on the basis of absolutely no evidence at all, Malcolm Pearce had quietly come out of purdah and begun working as a medico-legal expert. Chamberlain had remained a clean skin and no-one breathed a word about the experiments on and killing of babies. I wonder why no-one mentioned that during any of the many scandals at St George’s after I had been forced out? The only person who would have found themselves under fire if they had published anything about healthcare after the Pearce-Chamberlain Scandal would have been me. The paedophiles’ friends would have reminded everyone that I had been the research assistant of that dreadful man who had faked research and been struck off.

I wonder if a few other people as well as Dafydd might have been worried about what I might write? A man who carried out medical experiments on live babies perhaps?

Although a full police investigation into the possibility of a paedophile ring in north Wales had been undertaken and closed in 1993, by the end of 1994, the Jillings Investigation into the abuse of children in the care of Clwyd County Council was well underway. In 1995 Nicola Davies QC conducted a review of the police documentation concerning child abuse in north Wales in order to ascertain whether a public inquiry was justified. It was an easy task because the documentation from 1989 onward was all missing. Dead former kids in care and psych patients were turning up everywhere.

Not that the police had found any evidence at all of a paedophile ring, despite a number of ‘care’ staff and teachers going to prison for abusing the children in their care. The month before Francis wrote to Dr Chris Jones asking for a ‘forensic opinion’ on me, Gordon Anglesea won his libel case…

On 9 Feb 1995 John Allen, the owner and manager of the Bryn Alyn Community, was convicted of indecent assault against six former residents and received six years imprisonment.

On 13 Feb 1995 Gwynedd Community Health Trust’s solicitor Tony Lane wrote to John Mullen, the Trust Chief Exec, re Dafydd’s breach of confidence in Court in Liverpool. Lane mentioned that Hempsons – the MDU solicitors – had acted for Dafydd.

On 27 Feb 1995 Hefin Davies, the Chairman of Gwynedd Community Health Trust wrote to Tony Lane requesting his advice. Was Hefin’s letter seeking legal guidance re Dafydd and the breach of confidence? No. Hefin was asking Tony Lane if there was any more that they could do to have me prosecuted.

The merry go round continued after this date – there were further attempts to have me declared dangerous and to prosecute me…

John Redwood was Secretary of State for Wales from 27 May 1993 until 26 June 1995.

On 26 June 1995 David Hunt returned as Secretary of State for Wales until 5 July 1995. Just for a few days – whilst the deal to pretend that Dafydd was being retired off was completed (see post ‘The Evolution Of A Drugs Baron?’) and the public were told that the North Wales Hospital had been shut (see post ‘The Paedophiles’ Friends Of Cardiff North’). It hadn’t. Gwynfryn Ward remained open and there are allegations that it remained open until 2000. But no-one can be sure, because no-one will come clean about when the hospital did eventually close, why so many lies were told about it and what happened to the patients whom were imprisoned out there illegally when it closed. Or failed to close.

So what was Gwynfryn Ward? It was a mother and baby unit. A mother and baby unit is usually a cause for ‘ah’, but it bloody well wasn’t at Denbigh. If anyone knows why an institution which was notorious for brutally warehousing women – often under-aged girls – whose pregnancies were inconvenient to other people, continued to provide that service after the rest of the building was literally falling down, please do let me know.

On 5 July 1995 Stephen Dorrell was appointed as Secretary of State for Health, succeeding Virginia Bottomley. William Hague became Secretary of State for Wales on the same day.

On 13 July 1995 Sir Peter Morrison was found dead at his house. Bing Spear had died four days previously. Brown was sacked from his job at Aston University in the same month.

Hansard records that in April 1995, Julia Lomas of the Lord Chancellor’s Department replied by letter to a question from Alex Carlile confirming that at some point in 1994 Mary Wynch had been paid a paltry sum of money in full and final settlement regarding her litigation against the Public Trustee (see post ‘The Mary Wynch Case – Details’). Mary had been unlawfully arrested by Dafydd, had been illegally imprisoned in Risley Remand Centre and then illegally imprisoned in the North Wales Hospital for a year. She had won her case against Dafydd, Clwyd Health Authority et al but they then simply refused to pay Mary her compensation unless Mary returned to court to enforce payment. Mary continued with the case, as well as with the case against the crooked cartel of lawyers and the Public Trustee who had, in collaboration with Dafydd, fleeced her of her money and property in the first place.

The Home Office under Michael Howard dealt the final blow in 1994 – without any public announcement – and ruined Mary. Mary was by then an old lady who had been screwed by a bunch of rural gangsters who had enjoyed the full backing of every Gov’t since she had been unlawfully arrested in 1979 by Dafydd. But the real problem went back to the early 1970s – when Mary’s mother died in the ‘care’ of one of Dafydd’s nursing homes. Mary told me that she was convinced that her mother had been killed. But Mary was nuts wasn’t she. Ooh – except that no, she wasn’t, as was admitted when she won her case against Dafydd.

Michael Howard was a barrister who grew up in the Swansea area.

In Dec 1995 Secretary of State for Wales William Hague announced that Nicola Davies QC’s review had concluded that a public inquiry into the abuse of children in north Wales was not justified. William changed his mind a few months later and orchestrated the Waterhouse cover-up.

Nicola is now Dame Nicola and has been the Presiding judge of the Wales Circuit.

In Feb 1996 the Jillings Report regarding the abuse of children in the care of Clwyd County Council since 1974 was completed. I can’t say that it was published because it wasn’t. It was heavily redacted and the only people who saw the Report were the insurers and legal advisers of Clwyd County Council – even the Council officers and Councillors were forbidden from reading it. The legal adviser to the Council’s insurers Michael Beloff QC advised that if any Councillor did get their paws on a copy the Council’s insurance should be withdrawn and the Councillors should be held personally responsible for the damages claims that would inevitable follow from former children in care suing. Beloff admitted that this would be a consequence because the abuse of children had been so serious and so well organised over decades that the Council had no defence. Beloff also advised that if Malcolm King, the one Councillor who would not stop asking questions about the abuse of children in the care of the Council, ever found out what was in the Report and publicised it he should be sacked (see post ‘It’s A Piece Of Cake…’).

Just to be on the safe side, on 1 April 1996 Clwyd County Council was dissolved as a result of a local authority reorganisation days after the Jillings Report was completed. So even if someone did get hold of a copy of the Report there was no-one to sue. The Chairman of the Local Authority Boundary Commission who decided that Clwyd County Council would be disappearing was Prof Eric Sunderland, the heavily camouflaged paedophiles’ friend who was Principal of UCNW. Eric stood down as Principal in 1995 to make way for another paedophiles’ friend, Professor Roy Evans, although Eric was fit and healthy and lived for another 30 years.

The Jillings Report was pulped, although in 2013 somebody actually found a copy that had escaped the pulping machine and at last the world was allowed to see what was within. It was so heavily redacted that it was virtually meaningless. All that was known was that something dreadful had gone on in Clwyd for decades and that a great many people had colluded with it.

After Clwyd County Council was dissolved, John Jevons, the Director of Social Services for Clwyd who had worked so successfully with the paedophiles and their friends for so many years (see posts ‘It’s A Piece Of Cake…’ and ‘Ain’t Nothing Clean – Not Even The Welsh Calvinistic Methodists’), found himself in need of a job. Director of the Social Services which played host to the biggest child abuse scandal in the UK? No problem. Cardiff City Council snapped him up and Jevons took up the post as Director of Social Services for them almost immediately.

Two of those with a sense of humour who were sitting on Cardiff City Council at the time that Jevons was given a warm welcome were Julie Morgan and Sue Essex. Julie, the social worker and Assistant Director of Barnardo’s – the Barnardo’s who’s staff abused kids in north Wales. Sue Essex – who later became Minister for Finance, Local Gov’t and Public Services in Julie’s husband Rhodri’s Gov’t – was Deputy Leader and then Leader of the Labour Group of Cardiff City Council, 1995-99. Sue had previously graced Leicester University with her presence. I presume that it was Julie and Sue who head-hunted Jevons then. For more Julie n Sue fun, see post ‘The Paedophiles’ Friends of Cardiff North’.

On 17 June 1996 Welsh Secretary William Hague announced the North Wales Child Abuse Inquiry  aka the Waterhouse Inquiry. On 25th Oct eighteen families were left homeless after a fire at a warehouse engulfed their houses. Eight people were taken to hospital and more than 100 residents of Lightfoot Road, Chester, were evacuated as the blaze destroyed a Pickfords storage depot on the neighbouring Hoole Bridge industrial estate. ‘The houses spontaneously combusted because of the intense heat’, said a Cheshire Fire Service spokeswoman. The warehouse held the care records of children from the Bryn Estyn and Bryn Alyn homes.

On 21 Jan 1997 the Waterhouse Inquiry began at Ewloe, Flintshire.

On 2 May 1997 Tony Blair became Prime Minister.

Peter Howarth died of a heart attack at HMP Wakefield on 24 April 1997, so if anyone was worried about him naming a few people involved in abusing kids in care who were rather grander than bottom feeding social care workers they didn’t have to worry any longer. Particularly as Ioan Bowen Rees had died suddenly in 1999, just before the publication of the Waterhouse Report, so as the man who ran Gwynedd County Council for years whilst the paedophile ring’s business boomed under his steady hands, Ioan wouldn’t be dropping any clangers either. Ioan was considered an expert on local gov’t and had advised Dafydd Wigley as well as the working party who set up the infrastructure of the National Assembly for Wales under Ron Davies – of the ‘Moment of Madness’ and ‘I Was Looking For Badgers’ fame – whilst Ron was Secretary of State for Wales. Ron had been appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Wales back in Oct 1993 by John Smith. When the crew at St George’s were still riding high and at about the time that I wrote that letter to Michael Mansfield.

The Waterhouse Inquiry held its last hearing on 7 May 1998 and on 30 Sept 2000 the Waterhouse Report was handed to the Secretary of State for Wales, Paul Murphy. Murphy stated that he was delighted that a full and transparent investigation had taken place, that there had been no cover-up and that there was no evidence of a paedophile ring outside of north Wales, let alone the involvement of Westminster or Whitehall figures.

For details of the well-planned co-ordinated attempt during 1997-98 on the part of the north Wales mental health services to have me banged up, please see post ‘A Solicitor’s Letter From North East Wales MIND’.

Just a thought. If Pearce and Chamberlain had got away with their research fraud, had I piped up about anything that I’d witnessed even decades later, no-one would ever have believed a word.  There would have been two world famous Top Docs who had made history who wouldn’t have had a good word to say about me. And Dafydd et al could confirm just how mad and dangerous I was.

As it is, what we have looks vaguely like this:

Vision’s Eton Mess highlights all the worst aspects of ...

A great big Eton mess.

Medical experiments on live babies who were then deliberately killed and the facilitating of paedophile rings? Get out of this one then BMA – you can’t say that you knew nuzzing, because Chamberlain published that research. Unless of course he made it all up, as he did in 1994.

‘There is no evidence of a paedophile ring with links to Westminster which was covered up at a high level.’

I will shortly be writing a post which will name a number of people who worked at Bangor University when I was doing my PhD, who found out about much of what I have detailed in this post and who collaborated together – although they all loathed each other – in order to try to bring down someone who was not a paedophiles’ friend…

‘Not Seen Since 80s’ – Carwyn

Yesterday in the Senedd Carwyn Jones admitted that the forthcoming university cuts were not like anything that he had seen since the 80s when he was a student. The two universities under discussion were the University of South Wales and Trinity St David’s, but I am hearing from contacts at Bangor that the axe will soon be wielded there as well.

Like Carwyn, I remember the cuts of the 80s. The man who wielded the hatchet was Peter Swinnerton-Dyer, a henchman of Thatcher’s, who was alleged to have picked up his knighthood in return for his dirty deeds. Many years later I became friendly with someone who had been a student at Cambridge when Swinnerton-Dyer was still teaching there. This man told me some interesting things about Swinnerton-Dyer, particularly regarding his aggressive sexual advances towards the male undergrads and his interesting way of allocating marks for undergrad’s work. The stories that I heard bettered Harriet Harman’s recent lame anecdotes regarding her alleged experience of sexual harassment when she was an undergrad at York, mainly because Swinnerton-Dyer and his bedfellows ended up in rather more powerful positions than Harriet. The cuts of the 80s were always rumoured to have been Thatcher’s revenge on academia, after her not particularly happy time at Oxford where she was subjected to much snobbery. Thatcher also memorably abolished the Social Science Research Council at the same time, merging it with the Economic Research Council and the new body, the ESRC, was widely believed to be favouring funding the research of people like Patrick Minford who was arguing for the abolition of the welfare state. I heard allegations at the time that the SSRC was given the chop because social scientists had this irritating habit of demonstrating the link between poverty and ill health…

However, despite much wailing and gnashing of teeth, Swinnerton-Dyer wielded his axe, but the outcomes were rather odd. Some of the universities that suffered most were actually the institutions that were doing what Thatcher’s administration stated that they wanted universities to do – Salford incurred a massive hit, yet was largely a university churning out engineers. Aston, another university with an engineering and technical base, was hit so badly that it was very nearly closed down. A new Vice-Chancellor was installed, the notorious Freddie Crawford, who then squandered millions on a suite of expensive offices for him and his mates, which was known as the ‘Vice-Chancellor’s posh bit’. Indeed I was given a tour of the posh bit at one point. The social sciences dept was merged with the business school and taken over by what could only be described as a bunch of spivs who then handed out qualifications in some very questionable disciplines. (Indeed two people featured on this blog, Professor Dylan Jones-Evans and Rhian Huws-Williams, both benefited from such qualifications from Aston.)

What I remember most of course was what happened at Bangor. There were, I was told years later, threats to close Bangor down completely. That didn’t happen, but several departments did close, including philosophy, drama and I think maths. Psychology nearly had it was well, but thanks to Fergus Lowe engaging the help of B.F. Skinner (please see previous post ‘He’s Not The Messiah, He’s A Very Naughty Boy’), psychology subsequently thrived. No-one could work out why those particular depts. had been targeted. At the time there was a far more obvious dept that did deserve the chop on numerous grounds – the infamous Agriculture dept. The Agriculture dept was headed by a most unpleasant man called Professor J.B. Owen. Students found him very difficult to get along with and some of them observed that he didn’t seem to have the sort of academic knowledge that they expected a professor to have. If ever they asked a question in lectures they’d be met with a cold stare and usually no answer, or an answer that contradicted something that he’d said in a previous lecture. A lot of students were expressing very great dissatisfaction indeed with J.B. Owen and a number of other lecturers in the Agri dept – a delegation of students attempted to make a formal complaint but were told very firmly that their complaint would not be given the time of day. The Agri dept also housed a notorious groper, a man called Gordon Farley, who doubled up as a warden in one of the halls of residence. Female students tended to simply view him as a tosser, but there were problems with him trying to get into their rooms in hall (I heard all about it because I was living in the hall where he had been warden the year previously.) Again it was very odd that nothing was actually done about Farley – of course in those days there was not the sort of attention paid to student concerns that there is now, but Bangor was an old fashioned institution and the lecturers generally still took the view that they were in locus parentis. There had been a major row in another dept when a junior lecturer had entered into an entirely consensual relationship with a third year student – yet Farley was carrying on like this. At the end of every year, there would be an exodus of students changing course in order to escape from the horrors of the Agri dept – most of them switched over to zoology or plant biology. It was said that J. B. Owen also ran a sheep farm on Anglesey – something else that caused a lot of puzzlement. A lot of students studying in the Agri dept were the sons and daughters of farmers and were being groomed to take over the family farm. They were alleging that there was gross incompetence in the running of the university farm at Aber which was managed by the Agri dept. So J.B Owen didn’t seem to be a strong academic yet there were also problems in the day to day management of the university farm that he had responsibility for. Then the students discovered that ‘College Farm’ was a source of great entertainment among local farmers, on the grounds that the ‘experts’ from the University were making such a pig’s ear of running it. It was rumoured that the farm was effectively bankrupt. The name was then changed to ‘University Farm’ to make it sound even bigger and better – but it’s problems continued and it continued to be a source of much mirth for local farmers. There were also a few very worrying anecdotes about the mistreatment of certain students in the Agri dept – at least three students received letters asking them to leave the course after they had disagreements with lecturers there. There was widespread suspicion that students who complained were being picked off – such suspicions were confirmed when one student received such a letter asking him to leave the course on the grounds that he had insufficient practical experience of farming. This man had worked as a farm manager for several years before starting his degree. When he pointed this out, he was told that he didn’t have enough experience of dairying. Which was farcical – ‘experience of dairying’ was not stated as an entry requirement and the dept had already accepted him on the course. He received this letter at the beginning of his second year – after a row with a lecturer who did not turn up for a tutorial.  There was also very obvious tension between J.B Owen and the rest of the staff. I was told by one of the students that on a university jolly organised by ‘AgricSoc’, a group of staff and students had gone for a day out on a boat. One member of staff drank too much – he wasn’t offensive and he was a popular man, but he did get bladdered. On the return to shore, this man was physically hidden from J. B. Owen – who was waiting for the group on dry land – and smuggled back home, because the other staff alleged that if J.B. Owen discovered that this man had been drinking, this man would have been sacked. It was clear by then that Owen was running a very unpleasant regime and the students involved were all happy to keep the secret. Throughout my time as an undergrad I continued to hear worrying anecdotes from agri students, always involving low academic standards in the dept or vindictive attacks on students for petty reasons. Years and years later I was told by two retired members of staff from Bangor that the problem was indeed J.B. Owen – one described him as an ‘incompetent bully’, another simply remembered him as a ‘bastard’. But after I graduated, J.B. Owen did something that caused the whole university to become a laughing stock rather than just the Agri dept. At the time of the Chernobyl accident, the radiation cloud had drifted across north Wales during very heavy rain. I’d been out walking across Anglesey with my friends and we’d all been drenched. In the following days – it took a few days before anyone worked out what had happened – there were lots of jokes circulating around north Wales about nuclear rain and how we were all going to go green and our teeth would drop out. But these were jokes made by young people in pubs. However, little did we realise, we had our own nuclear authority tucked away in Bangor – a man called J.B. Owen. Within days of the Chernobyl incident, J.B. Owen had somehow got himself on prime time TV, billed as an ‘expert from UCNW’ (the old name for Bangor University), and he declared that thousands of people in north Wales were going to die as a result of being rained on that afternoon. He just rambled away like he used to in lecturers, presented no evidence at all, but nonetheless stated that we were all going to die. It was never explained that he was a hopeless incompetent who couldn’t run a farm even when it was bankrolled by a university and who didn’t seem to know much about agricultural science either. Everybody who watched his performance commented on the fact that he very obviously didn’t know his arse from his elbow and that this was a major embarrassment for the university. But despite all this, J.B. Owen survived. He even survived Swinnerton-Dyer. I was mystified by this for years – how did he ever get a Chair in the first place let alone hang on to it for decades? Last year I was talking to two retired lecturers from Bangor who are also farmers. They worked at Bangor in the 80s and we began reminiscing about some of the people who worked with them at that time. The topic of J.B. Owen came up – and I was told by these farmers that it was J. B. Owen’s family who had funded the establishment of the Agri dept at Bangor…

There is however one more enigma concerning the Agri dept and it’s activities in the 1980s that I think is potentially far more worrying than anything that happened to the students  during their time there. This blog has detailed the case of Mary Wynch, the lady who successfully sued Dr Dafydd Alun Jones for wrongful imprisonment after he illegally banged her up in the North Wales Hospital for a year. Mary had also endured three months in Risley Remand Centre and after winning her case against Jones was subjected to such intimidation that she went into hiding in England for years. (Please see blog post ‘Making Legal History – The Mary Wynch Case’.) Before Jones destroyed her life Mary had been employed as a secretary in the Agri dept in Bangor. I have already previously documented the influence that Jones and the dreadful Gwynne Williams the lobotomist had at the university until the late 80s. J.B. Owen was reputed to be a malicious old bastard who also seems to have had a great deal of influence in that institution – I cannot help wondering if he somehow played a role in the difficulties that Mary experienced. Newspaper reports at the time reveal that no-one at the university said anything at all about their colleague who was headline news and made legal history…

So if an axe is to fall on the Welsh universities once more, let’s hope this time it falls on the appropriate people. I have been watching what has been going on at Bangor over the last three years and something vey odd has been happening. There are still scores of really good people up there pursuing high quality research and showing a genuine commitment to the students – but they are not the ones being rewarded with promotion or whose work is featuring in the media. The institution seems to have been taken over by the most unscrupulous specimens whose ‘research’ is known to be dodgy but because these people are now in the most senior positions, no-one working there dares speak out. This blog has already detailed what could best be described as research fraud at Bangor as well as some serious conflicts of interests. If a large axe cometh I suggest that someone takes a very close look at what is happening in the Schools of Psychology and Healthcare Sciences  as well as the ‘Centre for Mental Health and Society’. And one of the biggest problems of all is the PVC for Research herself, Jo Rycroft-Malone, so I suggest that no-one leaves the decision as to who to sack down to her.

He’s Not The Messiah – He’s A Very Naughty Boy

There is often a perception among laypeople that ‘studying psychology’ gives one great insight into the human condition. However I have been impressed with the number of dysfunctional people that I have encountered, one in particular, who have studied psychology and participated in impressive quantities of wrongdoing. The man that I’m thinking of is the late Professor Fergus Lowe, the former Senior PVC and Head of the School of Psychology at Bangor University.

Fergus Lowe died not so long ago and was well-known to many people who have passed through Bangor University in the last three decades on the grounds of being, as memorably described by my friend Brown, ‘a highly effective shit’. I know that I had prior warning from Brown regarding Lowe, but even so I was interested to watch a lot of people toady to Fergus and do his bidding no matter how unsavoury that was. A lot of people were doing this simply because they were terrified of him – for some reason best known to himself, at one point Fergus decided to cultivate the company of one of the lecturers in the psychology dept whose teenage son knew someone whom I used to be friendly with. The teenager told my friend that Fergus had started calling in uninvited at their house and that his father was too frightened to stop these visits because he was both ‘in awe of’ and ‘frightened of’ Fergus, whom this man believed was a ‘true psychopath’. I didn’t start observing Fergus and the dynamics that surrounded him until about 2003, by which time he had achieved a very senior position in the University. The official narrative regarding the ‘respect’ that there was for Fergus in some quarters was his success in turning the psychology dept in Bangor from a semi-derelict house (which was how I remembered it in the 1980s when I was a student) to what was allegedly one of the best psychology depts in the UK and even considered to be pretty good in the global rankings. In more recent times, the psychology dept has become known as one of the depts in Bangor packed with international ‘research stars’, many of them having been head-hunted by Fergus in his attempt at world-domination. This always impresses people, but there is a reason why it tends to be overseas academics in Bangor psychology rather than big names from the UK – UK psychologists knew Fergus and would not work with him. A big name in the British Psychological Association whom Brown knew was approached by Bangor in about 2005 in an attempt to head-hunt him and this man told Brown that he would never go to Bangor as long as Fergus was involved with the University. Brown’s contacts also enlightened me as to the source of one of Fergus’s big ‘successes’ that financed the grand building currently housing Bangor’s psychology dept, the Brigantia Building – namely an enormous amount of funding from Unilever some years ago. Fergus did not land this grant through his talents and hard-work. He landed that grant by systematically stuffing over everyone else who was on the team, approaching the funders and making fallacious allegations about his colleagues’ incompetence or misconduct. He was so successful in this regard that he ended up netting the grant himself.

I heard many first-hand accounts of Fergus’s wrongdoing and it seemed quite wide-ranging. There were constant allegations of dishonesty, plagiarism and research fraud. One person friendly with someone I know well told me how his friend withdrew from a PhD in the school of psychology when Fergus told her to fabricate research results. She tried to refuse and Fergus’s response was ‘the trouble with you is that you always want to tell the truth’. She withdrew from her PhD and now freely tells everyone that academics are ‘liars and cheats’ – a consequence of having Fergus Lowe as a PhD supervisor. There was an event involving Fergus that has gone down in the history of Bangor, an event remembered by a lot of women in the area who are now in early middle-age and whose children used to attend the University nursery. That nursery was used by Fergus for research purposes and it was actually where he carried out the research – if indeed he did carry out the research that he claimed, one can never be sure, it was Fergus after all – that made him famous, the ‘Food Dudes’ project, an initiative aimed at promoting healthy eating in children. Ironically at the time when Fergus was receiving glowing tributes for this work in the media and he was giving interviews about the importance of healthy eating, whilst Governments were using that research as a basis for health policy, I used to watch Fergus pop down to Morrisons in Bangor to buy his lunch – a bottle of coke and two packs of crisps. Every day without fail. However it wasn’t Fergus’s own taste for junk food that landed him in trouble with the mothers of Bangor. It was the fact that somehow they had discovered that their children were being ‘experimented on’ without their knowledge let alone their permission. The kids had all been entered into clinical trials without parental consent – trials which involved some kids being fed a bad diet, whilst others received the nice healthy fruit as promoted by Food Dudes. The middle class mums of Bangor hit the roof when they found out that their kids might have been the ones being fed crap at the nursery and in an attempt to defuse the outrage and rumours rocketing around the area, the parents were invited to a meeting with Fergus in the University Council Chamber, where he was supposedly going to reassure them that nothing untoward had happened. I know three parents – two mums and a dad – who actually attended that meeting and they said that there was uproar. The dad said that when he challenged Fergus, Fergus became so aggressive that he thought that he was going to hit him. What is so entertaining though, is that as one of the mums said ‘Fergus forgot that there is nothing like an angry mother’ and I was told that this was one occasion on which Fergus ended up literally fleeing from the room faced with a gang of furious women…

It was not only Fergus’s research that was dodgy, his teaching practices weren’t much better. In order to attract ‘world-class’ researchers to Bangor, Fergus struck very favourable deals with them, which included them having to do very little teaching to enable them to just get on with their research, which would of course be the factor that pushed Bangor psychology up the league tables. But at the same time, Fergus knew how profitable undergrads were and was determined to pack them in. So hundreds of students would be enrolled every year. From what I saw there were two groups of psychology students at Bangor. There were very bright ones who wanted careers in psychology and who had gone to Bangor because they knew that it was a highly ranked dept. Then there were a number of rather fragile troubled students who had often experienced the glorious mental health services and were now ’empowered’ to go to university. They were choosing psychology because they believed that this would enable them to ‘understand myself’, confusing it with psychotherapy or psychoanalysis. They were positively encouraged to do this by the mental health services, because they were then categorised in a box ticked ‘recovered’. No-one told them that the psychology degree at Bangor was nothing to do with psychotherapy/psychoanalysis – Bangor has a huge emphasis on behavioural psychology and the course also involved topics such as biochemistry and of course statistics. (At one point Bangor was scandalised because the statistics module in the psychology dept was being taught by a man who was of the ‘hippy’ community in Bethesda who had a very obvious drug habit and was regularly seen cultivating the company of girls below the age of consent, herding them into taxis and then disappearing with them. There was very great concern expressed by a lot of people that the University saw fit to employ this man – I was told that Fergus was quite happy to do so because he paid him a pittance. The scandal only came to an end when the ‘stats lecturer’ turned up to work after having taken LSD and started playing Jimi Hendrix to the students on the grounds that if they listened closely they’d understand stats in an instant. This was too much even for Fergus and the stats lecturer was employed no more.) The fragile students with mental health problems or no previous qualifications used to encounter great difficulties and would usually withdraw at the end of the first year having found themselves completely unable to cope academically and would often end up feeling very bad about themselves. Fergus knew that this was happening but didn’t mind at all – he’d netted a years worth of fees from them. Furthermore, I got the impression that there wasn’t much time in the psychology dept for students who might be struggling – at one point I discovered that a two tier system was in operation in that dept, which involved a select few of the very high achieving students being identified and approached in their second year and asked to join an elite group, who would then enjoy extra tuition etc. Which was great if you were part of that group, but what about the others – they were paying the same fees and they weren’t told in advance about this two tier system. However, even the very academic students often became disillusioned with the psychology dept. Because Fergus was expecting so little in the way of teaching from the Big Names, the students were taught by postgrads. This is of course a common practice, but usually this is done partly to enable the postgrads to gain lecturing experience. Fergus however rolled out this system en masse – hundreds of undergrads would be packed into the biggest hall in the university, with a postgrad virtually wetting themselves with anxiety on the stage in front of them, trying to give a lecture when they were insufficiently experienced. This happened so frequently that the students who had gone to Bangor to work with famous people would realise at the end of three years that they’d barely met any of these famous people. There is however one high profile academic in the school of psychology who does seem to take an interest in students and whom the students all loved, that is Professor Guilluame Thierry. I have heard fantastic things about him – but he is the only well-known person in psychology whom I hear the students praising.

But Fergus was running yet another scam among all this. Most postgrads like to do a bit of teaching because it enables them to supplement their PhD studentships. However I was told that Fergus was grossly underpaying them. One brave soul decided to challenge him about this and I think that she also tried to encourage everyone to join a union as well. No-one would back her up – they were far too frightened – so she went to see Fergus to confront him about the exploitation that was happening. She told me an extraordinary tale – that as he saw her approaching his office, Fergus marched out of his room screaming and swearing at her, grabbed her by the hair and tried to drag her down the corridor. I asked her if there were witnesses to this and she told me that people were coming out of their offices to see what the racket was about but when they saw what was going on, every single one of them retreated back into their office and shut the door. The same person also told me of another Fergus-related outrage. She had been invited to a conference in Chester as part of the psychology team with Fergus. She went out for the evening in Chester and had a really bad experience – a man attempted to rape her. She fought him off and managed to get back to the conference venue where she encountered Fergus. She was very shaken and told him what had happened. He commented that she was obviously alright now and went off elsewhere with the others leaving her alone for the next few hours. Attempted rape of one of the researchers? Fergus didn’t bat an eye-lid. Interestingly enough, although this person was a good researcher and remained in the school of psychology to pursue further work after her PhD, she was never promoted. Even more interestingly, I discovered that she was actually writing the publications of some of the professors in the psychology dept only to find that they were taking her name off the work when they submitted it for publication. So that’s how the senior staff in the psychology dept built up such impressive publication lists…

Although I knew that Fergus did this sort of thing and encouraged other people to conduct themselves like this as well, I always wondered how he’d got such a foothold in the University initially. About ten years ago I found out. During Thatcher’s administration there had been one round of university funding cuts that were particularly savage and had almost destroyed certain universities like Aston and Salford. Another university that had come under attack – although I don’t know why – was Bangor. There was a fear that the University was actually going to be closed down, but in the end it just suffered the closure of a number of depts, including philosophy, drama and maths. Psychology was also earmarked for closure and at that time Fergus was an unknown junior lecturer there. When he realised that the dept was about to be closed down, Fergus hit on a stroke of genius – he arranged a conference at Bangor and invited B.F. Skinner, the famous American behaviourist, to the conference. He then told Skinner that the dept was earmarked for closure and generated an enormous amount of publicity. Behaviourism was becoming very unfashionable by then, so Skinner was delighted to find another behaviourist – Fergus – and campaigned with him to prevent the closure of the dept. A number of people were very grateful to Fergus for this, because he saved their careers, as well as his own, and they have remained loyal to him ever since, although they know exactly how great the wrongdoing has been.

So whose  bacon did Fergus save? Well where mustn’t much to the Bangor psychology dept in those days, but there was a dyslexia unit – which was actually very good but which Fergus wasn’t involved with – and there were a few PhD students. But there was also a clinical psychology course. That course was training the students who were being sent on placement to the North Wales Hospital Denbigh – and they were witnessing what was going on out there. One of those students told me in the late 80s that if you were any good, you just finished your training, left north Wales and got as far away from Dafydd Alun Jones and Denbigh as possible. But there were some people who didn’t do that – and some of these deeply compromised people are hiding around north Wales at the moment.

I had been told back in the late 1980s that Dr Dafydd Alun Jones was wielding influence in the psychology dept in Bangor and had attempted to embezzle thousands of pounds from the University to pay for his daughter, Dwynwen, to attend a private college in England. I was told that Dwynwen had failed to get onto the clinical psychology course, so Dafydd was sending her to England privately but decided that someone else could pay for it. I was told that someone in Bangor University had stopped Dafydd doing this and that this was actually the end of Dafydd’s influence in the University. What I didn’t know was that this person was Fergus Lowe. Dwynwen was doing a PhD in the psychology dept at the time and it was widely alleged that she had only been given the place because of Dafydd’s influence – I was told that her finals results would never have been good enough for her to be accepted for a PhD but as is his usual practice, Dafydd worked a fiddle. Fergus was seething and is remembered for refusing to speak to Dwynwen whilst she was a postgrad there. So a lot of people were very grateful when Fergus slayed Dafydd, particularly the person whose salary Dafydd tried to steal to fund Dywnwen’s education. But that person’s salary was actually earmarked to fund a job for her at Denbigh – this person wanted to do clinical psychology and the training involved an obligatory stint as an assistant in a psychiatric hospital. That person did indeed take up the job at Denbigh – and was appalled at what she witnessed. She decided not to do clinical psychology after all – I suspect because of what she witnessed at Denbigh – but stayed in Bangor to do a PhD in the psychology dept. She still works in Bangor University today. I got to know this person very well a few years ago because I worked with her. Whilst I worked with her I was being threatened, harassed and arrested by Martin Jones and Elfed Roberts et al at the North West Wales NHS Trust. This person knew all the details and indeed read the threatening letters that Martin was sending me. At one point she observed of Martin that ‘he’s not going to stop this is he’. After hearing about one of the (many) attempts to imprison me she commented that ‘you wouldn’t have survived a prison sentence and you weren’t supposed to’. And after Martin tried to have me arrested for making a ‘hoax call’ when I was ringing Ysbyty Gwynedd A&E seeking medical advice, she responded ‘that was done to try and make you look like a fuckwit so no-one would ever believe a word that you say again’. This person also knew how corrupt the local psychiatrists were – when I told her that Dr Richard Tranter of the Hergest Unit had documented upon my medical records that I was being bullied at work by the University rather than documenting that my health was suffering because Martin Jones and Elfed Roberts were having me arrested constantly, she was good enough to describe the allegations of me being bullied at work as ‘bollocks and Richard knows that’.

So there is someone else as well as me who witnessed the abuses that took place at Denbigh, who knows about Dafydd, who knows about the wrongdoing of Fergus Lowe although he saved her salary from the ever-hungry jaws of Dafydd and who knows the lengths that Martin Jones, Richard Tranter and Elfed Roberts were going to in order to try and discredit me and conceal the abuses at the Hergest Unit. This person also knows the reality behind Professor Mark Williams and the miracle that is mindfulness and along with Fergus Lowe held mindfulness in utter contempt, but knew that it was making Mark Williams and Bangor University famous as well as a lot of money. Indeed Mark Williams was this person’s manager at one point. This person also knew about the various local abusive psychiatrists such as Laurence Chesterman and Marie Savage being involved with the psychology dept and pretending to be following ‘research interests’ when they clearly weren’t. Furthermore, this someone also knew that a nurse who had done a PhD in Bangor’s psychology dept was being falsely presented at Ysbyty Gwynedd as a ‘clinical psychologist’ and was carrying out ‘assessments’ that only clinical psychologists are permitted to do. There was one thing that this person did know that I didn’t however – on one occasion after we had finished discussing the activities of the dreadful Dafydd, I mentioned dear old Dr Peter Higson, the current Chair of the Betsi, former clinical psychologist at Denbigh, lecturer at Bangor psychology dept and currently member of Bangor University Council. This person told me that Higson was a big mate of Fergus’s and ‘he didn’t shag the patients but he did shag the students’. As readers may have gathered I knew this person very well and I was quite upfront with her that I was writing to the Welsh Gov’t about the things that had happened to me at the hands of the mental health services and that one day I intended to publish the whole story. What I didn’t realise at the time was that this person was gathering as much info as she could from me and I suspect was informing those we know and love of my every move – because unbeknown to me she was co-authoring a book with Richard Tranter and was also busy doing deals with psychiatrists such as Rob Poole to establish the Centre for Mental Health and Society at Bangor University. When she heard that the dreadful Raj Sambhi had imprisoned me at the Heddfan Unit no doubt she thought that I was finished and no threat to any of them anymore.

So who is this totally unscrupulous person who is now working with people whom she knows concealed the sexual abuse and illegal detention of patients, who knew about the scams that passed for ‘research’ in the psychology dept and who knew that Martin Jones and Elfed Roberts were doing their best to frame me in an attempt to imprison me but nevertheless co-authored a book with the man who was writing lies on my medical records in an attempt to cover their tracks? Step forward Professor Catherine Robinson, who sadly it would seem did pretty much anything to get herself a Chair at Bangor University. The irony is that when Catherine was awarded that Chair I sent her an e mail congratulating her and saying that I was glad to see someone getting a Chair without behaving like a shit. Little did I know….I always wondered why she never replied to that e mail. Oh well, the good thing about not having a job in a university Catherine is that you can publish whatever you want and you don’t have to kowtow to er, criminals.

Sadly I believe that Catherine and her ilk are the legacy of Fergus. A psychologist who has now retired from Bangor University observed that Fergus did indeed stamp out the influence of the dreadful Dafydd from Bangor University, but he just replaced it with his own toxicity. A generation of academics were not mentored properly and were led to believe that the only way to advance yourself was by bullying, cheating, deception and by keeping absolutely silent even when you know that terrible things are happening. Someone used the phrase ‘dangerous deference’ to me the other day – I think it’s an affliction affecting many in north Wales (and the NHS generally). Fergus is now dead – although no-one seems to know what he actually died of, who knows another psychopathic psychologist might have killed him – but the effects of him live on. After Fergus was made Senior PVC, there was a big problem because no one else from the psychology dept wanted to step into his place as Head of Dept, because they knew that he’d be constantly on their back. Eventually the post was filled by one Professor Oliver Turnbull. I know of two incidents involving Turnbull. One involved him attempting to coerce an artist from Bethesda into selling one of her artworks priced at £10,000 to him for £800. He tried this because he’d noticed that she was participating in the trials run by the psychology dept in order to supplement her income, so he struck up a conversation with her in order to assess just how poor she was. When he realised that she was struggling for money, he offered her a pittance for the painting that he was after. She refused and was surprised to be told by Turnbull that ‘you’ve got to sell it to me because you’ve got no money so you’ve got no choice’. She had no money but she did have principles so she walked away. The other incident involved Turnbull and the Bangor psychology dept appearing in Private Eye a few years ago. A student in the psychology dept at Bangor had complained of being sexually harassed by one of her teachers. Turnbull had written a rather inappropriate e mail, questioning whether this student really had been harassed or whether she was just a weak student and should they therefore remove her from the course. Unfortunately for Turnbull, he cc’d the e mail to a number of people including the student herself by mistake. Someone took the e mail to Private Eye and Turnbull disappeared on gardening leave for a few months. However he reappeared eventually – and I understand that he is now PVC for Teaching and Learning at Bangor no less.
