The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part V

Previous posts focusing on Tony Blair have detailed the numerous people whom he appointed to senior positions who had concealed or colluded with the abuse of children and the associated abuse of mental health patients. Blair seems to have been so keen to give such people positions that they turned up in the most surprising places, including in the Treasury.

My attention was first drawn to this when I researched the background of Ann Coffey, MP for Stockport who, before she entered politics, had worked as a social worker in a series of authorities which had major problems with paedophile gangs operating within their children’s services – including Gwynedd (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part II’).

Coffey ended up as PPS to Alistair Darling whilst he was Chancellor of the Exchequer – however by then Ann had enjoyed a long relationship with Darling as his minion. In 1998 Ann was PPS to Darling when he was Secretary of State for Work and Pensions – Darling took over this role after Harriet Harman was sacked. Coffey then worked as an assistant to Darling when he was Secretary of State for Transport, 2002-06 and afterwards when he was Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. Then when he became Chancellor, Ann was appointed his PPS. So a former social worker who had spent many years working with paedophile gangs went on to spend many years working with Alistair Darling.

Darling was elected as Labour MP for Edinburgh Central in 1987 and retained the seat when constituency changes transformed it into Edinburgh South West in 2005. There was a panic in the Labour Party at the General Election in 2005 however – the Party hierarchy were very anxious about Darling losing the seat and sent a task force up to Edinburgh to campaign, including Prescott and Gordon Brown. Darling himself was so busy defending his home territory that he was rarely seen outside of the constituency despite being a senior Cabinet Minister. In the event it was a safe win which leaves me curious as to what everyone was so worried about. Darling sat in the Commons until 2015. He is now in the Lords.

Darling read law at Aberdeen University and whilst he was there he was President of the Students’ Representative Council. He joined the Labour Party in 1977 when he was 23 yrs old and in 1978 qualified as a solicitor. Darling subsequently decided to join the Scottish Bar – he became an advocate in 1984. Between 1982-87 Darling was a Councillor for Lothian and Borders Regional Council. He was also a member of the Lothian and Borders Police Board and a Governor of Napier College, 1985-87.

Darling was selected as a Parliamentary candidate under Neil Kinnock’s regime and in 1988 Kinnock appointed him as Opposition Home Affairs Spokesman in 1988. The newly appointed Labour leader John Smith made Darling Opposition Spokesman on Treasury Affairs in 1992. In 1996 he became Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

When elected as PM in 1997 Blair appointed Darling as Chief Secretary to the Treasury and in 1998 he replaced the sacked Harriet at the DWP. Darling was appointed Secretary of State for Transport in 2002 after Stephen Byers resigned when the business of him allowing the purveyor of porn Richard Desmond to buy the Daily Express became the straw that broke that particular camel’s back. In 2003 Darling became Scottish Secretary as well. He retained both posts until 2006 when he was appointed President of the Board of Trade and Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.

In 2007 when Gordon became PM, Darling became Chancellor. Darling has of course gone down in political history as the man who presided over disaster – what was euphemistically called the ‘credit crunch’ ie. a global banking crash caused by total fuckwittery, which was followed by the banks being propped up by public funds to keep in place the dysfunctional model of capitalism which had caused the problem. For Darling, it began in Sept 2007 with the run on Northern Rock in the wake of the subprime mortgage financial crisis and his decision to allow the Bank of England to bail out Northern Rock. How having a PPS who had worked cheek by jowl with paedophile gangs was supposed to be useful in such a situation I cannot quite fathom.

Alistair later admitted that when the banks crashed he had no idea what to do.

In 2007 the confidential personal details of more than 25,000,000 UK citizens went missing whilst they were being sent from Darling’s department to the National Audit Office.

In 2009 it was revealed that Darling had changed the designation of his second home four times in four years. He’d made enough to buy and furnish a flat in London. He also mistakenly claimed £700 in expenses which he agreed to repay. In 2010 Darling resigned from the Faculty of Advocates after they began investigating his financial affairs.

Alistair’s wife Margaret Vaughan was until 1997 a journalist for Radio Forth, the Daily Record and the Glasgow Herald. His media advisor was former Herald political journalist Catherine Macleod, a friend of both Darling and his wife.

When Gordon appointed Darling as Chancellor in June 2007, three out of the four junior Ministers in the Treasury were women. Whereas the strong women who did whatever Blair told them were known as Blair’s babes, the strong women who toadied to Darling whilst he crashed the economy were known as Darling’s Darlings. Darling’s Darlings were Jane Kennedy, Kitty Ussher and Angela Eagle.

Jane Kennedy was someone who did very well fer herself by keeping quiet about a great many questionable practices including the mistreatment of vulnerable people in the care of the state – she is now Police and Crime Commissioner for Merseyside – the details of Jane’s sordid activities can be read in my post ‘News From Sicily’.

Kitty Ussher is the niece of Tory MP Peter Bottomley and Tory peer Virginia Bottomley. Virginia was Secretary of Sate for Health during 1992-95 – whilst the police carried out an investigation into a possible paedophile ring in north Wales, but concluded there wasn’t one. Days after the General Election in 1992, five witnesses to the paedophile ring that didn’t exist were killed by a firebomb (see post ‘The Silence Of The Welsh Lambs’) and later that year Superintendent Gordon Anglesea sued for libel after two former residents of north Wales children’s homes named him as the man who had abused them as teenagers. In 1994 Anglesea won nearly £400k in damages and some weeks later one of the young men who gave evidence against him was found dead. In 2016 Gordon Anglesea was imprisoned for historical sex offences against boys in care in north Wales. In 1995 Dr Dafydd Alun Jones was allowed to retire without any of the very serious complaints against him being investigated – Dafydd also walked away with the contract to provide ‘substance abuse services’ for north Wales (see post ‘The Evolution of A Drugs Baron?’). Before she entered politics, Virginia was a psychiatric social worker. Anyone who reads this blog regularly will therefore know exactly what she will have been party to. For more details on Virginia, see post ‘Running The Country – And All That Jazz’.

Kitty was the Labour MP for Burnley, 2005-10. She is an economist who went to Balliol College, Oxford and Birkbeck, University of London. Ussher was Chief Economist for Britain in Europe, an economist at the Economist Intelligence Unit and at the Centre for European Reform. She has worked with the man who knows a great deal about organised child abuse in London and about the wrongdoing in north Wales via the Mary Wynch case, Paul Boateng. Boateng’s wife Janet was a social worker for Lambeth whilst the kids in the care of Lambeth were being abused and she was Chair of the Social Services Committee when Tyra Henry was murdered whilst in the care of Lambeth Social Services (see post ‘A Few More Who Might Be Able To Answer Questions’). Esther Rantzen’s sister was also a social worker who worked for Lambeth, that’s how Esther knows how good social workers are. When Esther established Childline, she appointed her sister’s former boss at Lambeth, Valerie Howarth, as Chief Executive. By the time that Esther got around to giving Valerie the job, Valerie had become the Director of Brent Social Services and it was on her watch that Jasmine Beckford was murdered in 1984. Valerie is now in the Lords.

Kitty herself was a Councillor in Lambeth, between 1998-2002.

Between 2001-04 Kitty was special advisor to Patricia Hewitt when Hewitt was Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. I will return to Patricia Hewitt later in this post. Then Kitty was PPS to Margaret Hodge until 2007 whilst Hodge was Minister of State at the Dept of Trade and Industry. The Hodge who was leader of Islington Council whilst a paedophile gang was busy within its children’s services, who insulted the victim of one of those paedophiles when he contacted her as an adult to tell her what had happened to him whilst she ran Islington Council. The former child in care was a lawyer and Hodge dismissed him as being ‘very disturbed’. He sued her and won. Hodge backed Tony Blair when he ran for the leadership of the Labour Party and as PM he appointed Hodge as Children’s Minister in 2003. Hodge is now a Dame and a Baroness. Her late husband Henry Hodge was a judge.

Ussher worked as Economic Secretary to the Treasury in Gordon’s Gov’t between 2007-08. She was in post as the first signs of the credit crunch appeared and was party to meetings of the Tripartate Committee of the Treasury involving the Treasury, the FSA and the Bank of England regarding the collapse of Northern Rock.

In 2008 Ussher was appointed as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the DWP. She was responsible for housing benefit policy and the review of the social fund, the Child Support Agency and the lone parents welfare policy. All of which shafted some already desperate people.

In 2009 Kitty was appointed Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury but resigned after ten days to ‘prevent embarrassment’ to the Gov’t regarding her questionable tax affairs. She stood down from Parliament at the 2010 General Election.

Kitty has written pamphlets for the Fabian Society, the Social Market Foundation and Policy Network. She was or is economic and political advisor to Portland Communications.

Portland Communications is a PR firm closely associated with New Labour figures such as Alastair Campbell. It was set up in 2001 by Blair’s former advisor and Director of Communications at BSkyB, Tim Allan. Portland have also employed people who worked for Cameron. Portland were accused of being behind the mass resignations in the attempt to remove Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the Labour Party and they also acted for Southern Health, the lethal NHS Trust under whose care hundreds of people with mental health problems and learning disabilities died but whose deaths went uninvestigated.

Angela Eagle has been the Labour MP for Wallasey since 1992. She was born in Bridlington, Yorkshire and went to St John’s College, Oxford. Whilst at university Angela was Chairwoman of the Oxford Union Fabian Society, 1980-83. After she graduated in 1984 she worked for the economic directorate of the CBI and then for COHSE, as a researcher, press officer and the Parliamentary liaison officer. COHSE was the NHS union and it represented members who stood accused of abusing patients. At the time that Angela was working for COHSE, the General Secretary was David Williams, a former ‘nurse’ from the North Wales Hospital Denbigh who worked at Denbigh whilst gays, women with unplanned pregnancies, victims of paedophiles who dared to complain and pretty much anyone who crossed the path of Gwynne the lobomist were being well, lobotomised. For more information concerning the way in which COHSE and other trade unions colluded with the abuse of patients and children, see post ‘A Very COHSE Relationship With Some Very Nasty People’. Angela was the Secretary of the Constituency Labour Party in Peckham, 1989-91, whilst Harriet Harman was MP for Peckham.

In 1997 Blair appointed Angela as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for the Environment, Transport and the Regions whilst John Prescott was Secretary of State. Angela moved to the Dept of Social Security in 1998 and then was a junior Minister in the Home Office, 2001-02.

In 2003 Angela voted to back the UN-led invasion of Iraq and she subsequently voted against holding an investigation into the decision in 2003, 06 and 07.

In 2007 she was appointed Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury (the most junior Minister at the Treasury) under Darling. In 2008 in a Parliamentary debate on the UK economy Angela denied that there was a housing bubble about to burst and a risk of recession. A few minutes later the housing bubble exploded and the banks crashed.  In 2009 Angela became Minister of State at the DWP.

Angela became Chair of the Labour Party’s National Policy Forum in 2012 and Chaired the NEC, 2013-14.

In 2015 Angela stood for the Deputy Leadership of the Labour Party – she was supported by UNISON as well as a number of other unions and UNITE supported both Angela and Tom Watson jointly. When in 2016 Angela had her five minute stab at running for the leadership before she withdrew, she stated that she wasn’t a Blairite, she wasn’t a Brownite, she was ‘a strong Labour woman’. If only you’d been strong enough to stand up to a gang of paedophiles whilst you worked for COHSE Angela.

Tom Watson has been Deputy Leader of the Labour Party since 2015, was Deputy Chair, 2011-13 and Party Chair, 2015-17. He has been the MP for West Bromwich East since 2001 and sat on the Home Affairs Select Committee, 2001-03. Watson went to Hull University and in 1992 he was President of Hull Students’ Union. He was active in Hull University Labour Club and Chair of the National Organisation of Labour Students, 1992-93.

Paedophiles’ friend David Hanson, MP for Delyn in north Wales was appointed Blair’s PPS in 2001 – just at the right time to handle the fall-out from the Waterhouse Report – also went to Hull University, but some 14 years before Tom. Hanson also busied himself in Hull University Labour Club and was Vice-President.

After Blair’s landslide in the 1997 General Election, Watson worked as the National Political Officer for the AEEU. In 2001 the AEEU merged with MSF to form AMICUS. When I worked at St George’s Hospital Medical School, the MSF reps were corrupt, concealed wrongdoing and used their positions to gather sensitive confidential information about people which they then used for their own purposes (see post ‘A Very COHSE Relationship With Some Very Nasty People’).

Tom Watson is a very controversial man. A lot of people maintain that he is a git of the highest order and I know someone who was at a public event at which Watson was the VIP guest which was interrupted by an angry member of the public who produced evidence demonstrating that far from being the Messiah, Tom had indeed been a very naughty boy. The incident did not receive media coverage. You didn’t know that I knew about that did you Tom?

However, Tom has done at least a few things that were worthwhile. Watson played a key role in the nailing of Murdoch and News International re the phone hacking scandal. Nice one Tom, thank you for that. It was also Tom who stood up in Parliament in Oct 2012 and gave a speech concerning allegations that in the recent past, a paedophile ring had previously operated with links to Westminster which had been concealed by people at the highest levels of society. It was this speech of Tom’s that finally got the ball rolling in terms of Operation Pallial, the Macur Review of the Waterhouse Report and the police investigations into ‘VIP’ child abuse gangs – although sadly, despite Tom’s efforts there was yet another cover-up of course. Tom continued with his public comments re the possibility of a Westminster Paedophile Ring and he named Leon Brittan and Fieldmarshal Lord Bramall. Brittan’s wife and Lord Bramall were very cross about this and Tom subsequently had to apologise to them – Brittan’s widow Diana and Lord Bramall later received compensation payments of £100k for the trauma of being named and investigated. Which was a great deal more than the rest of us ever received who had years of our lives wrecked by Dafydd et al who were supplying the Westminster Paedophile Ring.

I’ve been able to write a blog like this because I witnessed events and obtained documents that Tom didn’t. However, I suspect that Tom had a great deal more evidence for his claims than he ever dared admit. Tom gathers info about people. He spent his early political career in Hull, a location in which a lot of people knew a lot of things about organised child abuse. He worked for a union which had close links to one of the unions whose reps were concealing the wrongdoing of people who were abusing children and mental health patients. Tom is the MP for a West Midlands constituency – the West Midlands was the location of a whole network of corrupt Top Doctors, social workers, police officers, NHS managers and even academics who concealed organised child abuse. Furthermore I think that Tom knows David Hanson. Unlike me Tom will have done favours for these vile people in order to advance his career so Tom was not able to defend himself when those who concealed the Westminster Paedophile Ring went after him. That’s the problem with doing them favours Tom – they’re a bunch of bastards and because people died at the hands of those that they are protecting, they’ll eat you as well if necessary. I know that I’ve had to go into hiding, but at least I am able to write a blog like this…

One episode that fuelled Tom’s reputation as a slippery git was the July 2004 Birmingham Hodge Hill by-election campaign which was Chaired by Tom. It was alleged to have been a very dirty campaign indeed – one technique employed by Tom was to associate the Lib Dems with ‘failed asylum seekers’. Nevertheless it was successful – the Labour candidate won. That candidate was Liam Byrne.

Before Byrne was elected as a result of Tom’s dirty tricks, he went to Manchester University where he was Communications Officer for Manchester University’s Student Union. He then did an MBA at the Harvard Business School and subsequently worked for Accenture, as well as N.M. Rothschild & Son. Byrne co-founded the venture-backed tech company e-Government Solutions Group in 2000.

Byrne advised the Labour Party on the re-organisation of their HQ at Millbank during 1996-97. Mandy was running Millbank by then, so Byrne was obviously one of those in the inner circle of the New Labour spivs, cheats and hypocrites who were building their power-base upon their knowledge of the sordid activities with which influential people and their political opponents had been involved. Byrne then helped lead Labour’s business campaign under the New Labour brand.

So why did Tom Watson, who constructs himself as old Labour and who is now Deputy Leader to Jeremy Corbyn, work so hard to get this ally of Blair and Mandy into Parliament?

Once Liam was in the Commons he enjoyed a very rapid rise. In 2005 he was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Dept of Health, whilst Patricia Hewitt was Secretary of State. Blair was so impressed with Liam’s handywork at the DoH that in 2006 Blair made him Minister of State, Borders and Immigration at the Home Office. That was when Blair’s Gov’t allowed mass uncontrolled immigration without admitting to anyone that they were doing this and without constructing the infrastructure needed to accommodate the new population. Which actually led to enormous resentment when people realised what was happening – hence the sort of confrontation that Gordon had with Gillian Duffy. Of course by the time that Gordon received an earful Blair had scarpered leaving everyone else to take the blame for the difficulties that mass immigration had caused in some areas, as well as for the collapse of the economy, for Mid-Staffs etc.

After assisting with the havoc caused by the Home Office, in 2007 Liam became Minister for the West Midlands. In 2008 he was appointed Minister for the Cabinet Office and the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.

In Nov 2008 an eleven page document was leaked to the press, a memo that Liam had written and sent to his civil servants in 2006, entitled ‘Working With Liam Byrne’. It detailed Liam’s daily demands, which included ensuring that he was supplied with a cappuccino on his arrival at the office, soup at 12-30pm and and an espresso at 3pm. Liam also reminded everyone that ‘if I see things that are not of acceptable quality, I will blame you’. The Tory MP Philip Davies observed that this was not a briefing note for civil servants, it was a briefing note for slaves. A spokesman for Liam responded by reassuring everyone that Liam was quite a reasonable man and that sometimes he has his soup at 1-30pm. But he will still blame everyone else when he screws up of course.

Between 2009-10 Byrne was Chief Secretary to the Treasury, under Alistair Darling. When they blamed the economic disaster on everyone else. Harriet later explained that if only Lehman Brothers had been Lehman Sisters none of it would have happened at all. Did Harriet not know that Alistair was served by three female minions at the Treasury who were all as clueless as he was?

Liam was the man who left that infamous note for his successor in the incoming Coalition Gov’t which said ‘Dear Chief Secretary, I’m afraid there is no money. Kind regards – and good luck! Liam’. David Laws, the new Chief Secretary to the Treasury, publicised the note and there was outrage at New Labour’s arrogance and idiocy. David Cameron used the note to justify kicking the poor in the teeth in the name of ‘austerity’. Liam subsequently gave a series of tear jerking interviews in which he talked of feeling suicidal and then explained that he wrote the note because his father had been an alcoholic. Or something like that.

Liam was sufficiently interested in the children of alcoholics to Chair an All-Party Parliamentary Group on this matter. One member of this group was Baroness Sheila Hollins. Sheila Hollins was a psychiatrist at St George’s Hospital Medical School whilst her colleagues colluded with criminal activities on the part of the mental health services in north Wales which were in turn facilitating a paedophile gang.

Liam’s boss Patricia Hewitt was constructed as a roaring success whilst she was in office at the Dept of Health. Patricia Hewitt was for nine years the General Secretary of the NCCL, during its paedophile years whilst it was affiliated with PIE. In 1983 Patricia moved from that position to work as Neil Kinnock’s Press Secretary – the Kinnock who, along with his wife, undoubtedly knew about the paedophile gang and the associated criminality in north Wales.

In 1992 Hewitt was asked by John Smith, the new Labour leader, to establish a commission on social justice, of which Hewitt became Deputy Chair.

Between 1994-97 Hewitt was Head of Research with Andersen Consulting (Accenture).

In 1997 Patricia was elected as the MP for Leicester West, when the previous incumbent, Greville Janner, went off to the Lords. The Greville who was abusing children in the Leicester area (see post ‘Radical Leicester And Some Other Free Radicals’).

In 1998 Hewitt was appointed as Economic Secretary to the Treasury, under Chancellor Gordon Brown. In 1999 she became Minister of State at the Dept of Trade and Industry. Whilst in this post Hewitt merged a number of regulators to form Ofcom, which didn’t regulate anything very well.

After the 2001 General Election, Hewitt was appointed Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and Minister for Women and Equality. She remained in these posts until 2005. In Sep 2005 a Judicial Review found that the Dept of Trade and Industry had been guilty of unlawful sexual discrimination against a man, who was subsequently awarded over £17k in costs. The appointment was not overturned and Hewitt did not apologise.

In 2003 the Women and Equalities Unit published a report in which it was stated that there was a ‘real problem’ with mothers staying at home to bring up their children.

In 2005 Blair appointed Hewitt Secretary of State for Health, an appointment she retained until 2007. Patricia’s time as Health Secretary is one of recent history’s condundroms. It is claimed that Patricia’s time in that position was a massive success. There were a few hiccups which even Patricia fesses up to – the chaos that was the ‘modernising medical careers’ system for junior doctors, which was reliant on a website which basically didn’t work. Not only did it not work, leaving junior doctors unable to apply for jobs – although it was only by using the website that doctors were able to apply for NHS jobs – but the confidential personal information which the doctors were obliged to supply was then visible to anyone else using the site. As a result in May 2007 the website was suspended.

In 2006, when Patricia quoted the NHS Chief Executive Nigel Crisp who claimed that the NHS ‘had had the best year ever’ – although NHS Trusts dealing with budget deficits claimed to have cut thousands of jobs – Hewitt was booed and heckled at the RCN Congress. The BMA Chair James Johnson stated that 2006 had been one of the worst years on record for the NHS. In 2010 Johnson, a vascular surgeon from Cheshire, appeared before a GMC tribunal in a notorious case in which he stood accused of behaving like a caricature of the worst sort of surgeon from a 1950s comedy film. It was alleged that Johnson had amputated limbs by mistake and had ended up accidentally stabbing a colleague in the forehead with a needle in a fit of temper.

NHS PFIs continued to burgeon in number.

In 2007 Hewitt criticised the now very high incomes of GPs, which were the result of a pay contract implemented in 2004.

So why was Patsy’s time at the Dept of Health applauded? Solely because she was acknowledged by everyone to have ‘balanced the books’. In the year 2006/07, the NHS ended with a £510 million surplus – it had previously been hugely in debt. Hewitt admitted that to perform the economic miracle she had been forced to cut 17,000 jobs, cut public health spending and reduce the study budgets for NHS staff. Nonetheless, in June 2007, the ‘overall budget was balanced’ – yet 1 in 5 NHS Trusts were still in debt.

Like so many of the triumphs of Blair’s time in office, none of this makes sense. There are plenty of reliable sources which clearly demonstrate that despite the squealing of the Top Doctors and Angels, there were no ‘CUTS’ to the NHS – no Gov’t has ever ‘cut’ the NHS, not even Thatcher, because when it comes to the crunch they are far too frightened to take on the BMA. Spending on the NHS has risen and risen and risen constantly. The BMA have been known to tell Gov’ts that yes, they will be prepared to see patients die and because no-one has ever been honest about the rampant greed, corruption and sheer bloody selfishness in parts of the medical establishment, no-one would ever believe that an Angel or a Top Doctor would let a patient die. Oh yes they would – and they’d only have to do that once to bring a Gov’t down. It would be the Gov’t who would be blamed – well it would be because of The Cuts wouldn’t it…Govt’s of every hue cave in to the BMA – and so did Blair.

One of the BMA negotiators themselves admitted that the 2004 contract for GPs was so generous that they thought that it was a ‘laugh’. The average basic salary of a GP rose to over £100k – some GPs were earning over £250k.

The numbers of managers in the NHS increased AND huge fees for management consultants were being run up. Angels and Top Doctors found that they could earn three times as much working for an agency as they could directly for the NHS – so huge numbers of them resigned from the NHS and signed up for agency work, often returning to their former hospitals as agency workers. That’s why so much was spent on agency staff – Trusts didn’t have to sack anyone because of The Cuts.

No-one who contributed to the Tale Of How Patsy Balanced The Books can be believed. The Top Doctors and Angels have adhered to the narrative of low pay n cuts for years now, although it’s nonsense. In some situations Blair boasted that his Gov’t ‘invested’ more than ever before in the NHS; in other situations he is on record as saying that the BMA gave him such a kicking that he barely recovered; Top Doctors themselves tend to admit that their mouths were stuffed with yet more gold but that it came with a complete intolerance of whistleblowing and an authoritarian new public management box ticking which did not always improve outcomes and often concealed scandals such as Mid-Staffs. Yet Patsy claims to have turned a massively indebted system into one which had billions of pounds surplus within two years – by The Cuts which everybody knows didn’t happen.

Patsy – I don’t believe you.

I think that some creative accounting went on somewhere. Tories like to portray Labour as the party of profligate spending, but many New Labour ‘initiatives’ really were done on a shoestring – universities were never given funding to keep pace with the swelling numbers of students. All that happened was tutorials were held with ten students instead of two, seminars had thirty students not ten and lectures sometimes contained hundreds. Social care was ignored as well, as were many other areas – but the one thing that was not kept short of money was the NHS.

When Liam left that infamous note for his successor admitting that there was no money, where had it gone? No-one actually explained what it had been used for – and because of the economic disaster that had hit the nation, no-one enquired. It was all just put down to Labour’s incompetence – everyone knows that Margaret Thatcher was a grocer’s daughter and housewife who went after the bargains when she went shopping and that’s why she could run the country properly and keep it out of debt. But Blair and Patsy hadn’t grown up above a grocers shop, so how could anyone expect them to run a national economy successfully?

On a more sober note, Blair’s Gov’t was a Gov’t full of crooks, liars and cheats. By the time that Blair departed in 2007 the feeling of the nation was one of ‘How do you tell when Tony Blair is lying? You can see his lips moving’. This was a man who misled Parliament and took the country to war on the back of a pack of lies. Is he really going to have told the truth about the finances of the NHS – or allowed Patsy or Liam to have done so?

Is it perhaps possible that the coffers were raided to fund the NHS and that’s why the piggy bank was empty when Liam left office?

In 2008 Patsy became a consultant to Alliance Boots and a special advisor to private equity company Cinven, which paid £1.4 billion for BUPAs hospitals. She was also appointed as a non-executive director of the BT Group. In 2009 she became Chair of the UK India Business Council.

Patsy stood down from the Commons in 2010 and almost immediately found herself in a lobbying scandal for which she was suspended from the Parliamentary Labour Party.

In 2017 Patsy was appointed Chair of the NHS Sustainability and Transformation Plan Oversight Board for Norfolk and Waveney – she also attends the Health and Wellbeing Board for Norfolk.

There are a few more people who contributed to the landscape of Blair and his NHS success and who did very well for themselves out of this myth. One of those people is Sir Kenneth Calman.

Ken Calman was Chief Medical Officer of Scotland, 1989-91 and then of England and Wales, 1991-98. Ken was appointed by John Major – he succeeded the old crook Sir Donald Acheson who was tasked with getting those involved with the Westminster Paedophile Ring to wake up to the fact that they could well contract HIV from the under-aged drug using rent boys that they were having sex with (see post ‘Running The Country – And All That Jazz’) – Sir Ken hung around long enough to serve under Blair, at least for a little while. Ken really went from strength to strength under Blair’s regime though. When Ken stepped down as CMO he became VC of Durham University – just down the road from Blair’s Sedgefield constituency and Blair’s right-hand woman Hilary Armstrong’s constituency, within spitting distance of all those other constituencies in the north east of England that Blair had packed with his chums.

Whilst Calman was VC at Durham he reinstated the teaching of pre-clinical medicine there – the students went to Newcastle University for their clinical training. The Newcastle University that was full of paedophiles’ friends – surrounded by the constituencies of yet more mates of Blair (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part IV’). Calman also closed the Departments of Applied Linguistics and East Asian Studies whilst he was VC, so presumably those departs didn’t contain any paedophiles’ friends or crooked Top Doctors that could be useful politically.

Calman stepped down from Durham University in 2006 – and was appointed Chancellor of Glasgow University, where he remains today. Calman and Glasgow University go back a very long way. He was a student there, then a lecturer in surgery. Between 1972-74 he worked at the Chester Beatty Research Institute in London – which was where Ken Livingstone worked and established a branch of one of the most powerful NHS unions. Calman returned to Glasgow in 1974 to the Chair of Clinical Oncology and in 1984 he was made the Dean of Postgraduate Medicine.

Now that Sir Ken is Chancellor of Glasgow University, he might be able to explain something that’s been puzzling me for a while. I have previously described how, as the Waterhouse Inquiry proceeded and the time of publication of the resulting Report approached, the Top Doctors of the Hergest Unit who had concealed the paedophile gang went into meltdown. There was a mass exodus from Hergest and no-one else arrived in the places of those who had left, despite the posts being advertised repeatedly. One of those who left was a Top Doctor called Gwen Jones-Edwards.

I was good friends with a patient of Gwen’s. She seemed to do to him what Tony Francis (Dr X) did to me – make every appearance to his face of being friendly with him and reassuring him that she would do her best to assist him, whilst she was actually doing him great damage without his knowledge. My friend suffered from serious bouts of depression and attributed these to some psychological problems that he had which he had identified and was requesting help with. Before he’d encountered Gwen, like me, this man had witnessed criminal conduct and the abuse of patients by mental health staff – like me he had complained, only to be met with a brick wall and insults. He thought that Gwen was a breath of fresh air – he did not realise that Gwen had diagnosed the dreaded borderline personality disorder that everyone who dared complain ended up with. Gwen told him that she would refer him to the Maudsley Hospital – ‘the best in the world’ – for his psychological problems, to receive specialist therapy. When the big day arrived – he went down to London from north Wales – my friend found that the ‘therapy group’ was actually an experimental group that two psychology MSc students were running. They had not even qualified as clinical psychologists. The experiment that they were running was designed for people with a totally different problem to his. So he asked the students for advice re his own situation – they were honest enough to tell him that they had no experience at all with his particular problem and admitted that their group wasn’t suitable for him but they weren’t senior enough to refer him elsewhere. My friend returned to north Wales. No more referrals from Gwen were forthcoming and she then scarpered as part of the exodus.

When Gwen had departed my friend was told that he had received therapy for his condition from the Maudsley, that it hadn’t worked and that was because he had a personality disorder. From that point on, my friend was basically refused access to all treatment, although he had a number of very serious episodes of depression. The GP practice where he was registered demanded his presence at a meeting where he was told by the senior partners that they would not treat him for any condition. My friend pointed out that this was unlawful and the practice subsequently denied ever having said that to him. But they still wouldn’t treat him. He incurred a nasty head injury whilst in another part of the UK when he crashed his car, which required 15 staples. The staples were put in by the A&E in the hospital near the site of the crash and he was told to go to his GP to have them taken out. When he did go to the practice all the GPs refused to treat him. Like me, this man had been very obviously blacklisted and boycotted by the local NHS – and it was fuelled by Gwen, without him knowing.

So imagine my surprise when about four years ago I discovered that Gwen Jones-Edwards was the clinical director of Southern General Hospital in Glagow and a senior lecturer at Glasgow University. Southern General is Glasgow University’s pride and joy. It was always a neurology hospital with a very impressive reputation, but in recent years there has been a huge investment in Southern General and it is now considered the leading neurology centre, probably in Europe let alone the UK. Furthermore, huge parts of Glasgow’s NHS services for other specialities are now being transferred to Southern General, it is a really big flagship hospital of which Scotland is very proud.

Ken – can you tell me how a bog standard jobbing dishonest mediocrity of a psychiatrist who worked in a unit full of people concealing a paedophile ring managed to bag herself a job as clinical director of Southern General – particularly as she isn’t a neurologist?

There isn’t quite such a degree of mystery as to how Ken managed to access the funding for the development of Southern General. Not only has Ken been CMO of everywhere in the UK, leading the Top Docs – including those who concealed the Westminster Paedophile Ring – but Ken is a good mate of Nicola Sturgeon. Ken has been a supporter of the SNP for a very long time and an advisor to the Scottish Gov’t. Ken was the convenor of the Calman Commission in 2008, which reviewed Scottish Devolution.

Ken has a famous daughter – Susan Calman! Susan is the comedian who is a Radio 4 favourite and who has recently starred in Strictly Come Dancing. Susan’s comedy is predicated on her tales of her day to day life as a short plump Scottish lesbian who suffers from a self-confidence problem and lives with her cats. Susan is a former lawyer who specialised in international law and her dad is probably the most powerful man in Scotland. Who has a great deal of explaining to do.

After Ken legged it to run Durham University, Blair appointed Liam Donaldson as Chief Medical Officer. Liam wasn’t your usual candidate for CMO – he didn’t wear a bow tie and a stripey suit and he wasn’t well known. Whilst Liam was CMO he stuffed up constantly – nevertheless he was appointed as Chancellor of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne University in 2009, before he steeped down as CMO in 2010. However Liam had experienced a bit of excitement in his life before Blair put him in charge of the health of the citizens of England and Wales. Liam was the regional medical officer of the Northern Regional Health Authority, the employers of Dr Marietta Higgs and Geoffrey Wyatt at the time of the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal. So Liam presided over that utter chaos – with served as a useful distraction from the reports coming out of north Wales that something terrible was happening which was related to the children’s social services and mental health services and even involved people who were working in the hospital which Jimmy Savile effectively ran. I will be writing more about Liam and the Cleveland Scandal in a blog post coming soon.

David Lammy, the MP for Tottenham since 2000 is another person who passed through Blair’s NHS as a junior Minister. Lammy was born in Tottenham in 1972 but went to school in Peterborough after winning an ILEA choral scholarship. He studied law at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), then went to Harvard Law School and began practicing as a barrister at the Bar of England and Wales in 1994. Lammy succeeded Bernie Grant as MP for Tottenham and in 2002 was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Dept of Health, whilst Alan Milburn was Secretary of State for Health. See post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part IV’ for further details of Alan Milburn and the horrors which accompany him wherever he goes.

In 2003 Lammy was a Minister in the Department of Constitutional Affairs, a Department headed by Lord Charlie Falconer – a dept concerned with many functions of the criminal justice system, whilst I and other people who had complained about the north Wales mental health services found ourselves arrested and fitted up for various offences. See post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part II’ for my account of what happened when Charlie Falconer addressed an audience at Bangor University after being invited by paedophiles’ friend Betty Williams MP, which contained at least three people who were fighting the criminality in north Wales which Charlie, Blair et al were exploiting for their own purposes. In 2005 Lammy hit the jackpot – he was appointed a junior Minister to the paedophiles’ bestest friend Tessa Jowell whilst she was Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport. Lammy then held Ministerial roles in the Department of Innovation and Skills.

In 2010 Lammy Chaired Ken Livingstone’s Mayoral selection campaign. In 2016 Lammy himself was seeking nomination for Labour’s candidate for London Mayor when he was prosecuted for making ‘nuisance calls’. He wasn’t ringing people up and breathing heavily down the phone, all he did was to set up an automatic phone calling system urging people to back his campaign. Nonetheless he was found guilty of breaching the Privacy and Electronic Communication Regulations by making 35,629 ‘nuisance calls’. He was fined £5k.

After the Grenfell Tower fire, I heard David Lammy talking a great deal of sense on various news programmes. He stated that it was a case of corporate manslaughter and explained very clearly that if one has been housed on the 12th floor of a tower block by one’s local authority, one is completely at the mercy of that authority. He got a lot of flack for this from people beating about the bush as they tried to somehow attribute agency to people on low incomes who had been housed in a lethal tower block that then went up in flames when they were inside.

David – you were really brilliant on the subject of Grenfell Tower. Could you now use your public platform to explain to everyone that if one has been illegally imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital by a man running a paedophile ring and one is assaulted by staff, told to ‘shut your mouth’ about the man who is running the paedophile ring and one is then – along with close friends who know what happened to you – harassed and seriously threatened for thirty years by the NHS and social services, until one ends up going into hiding, that the state really is rather culpable? Could you then explain that kids in care who are attacked by paedophiles are also at the mercy of the state and that it is incredibly insulting for the social workers and Councillors who colluded with their abuse to be sitting in the Lords like Tessa?

David’s constituency falls within the area covered by Haringey Social Services. Haringey Social Services have a history stretching back decades of placing children in care in danger. The paedophile gang in north Wales had connections in Haringey Social Services.

Blair employed a whole collection of advisors in the Department of Health. They included:

Robert Hill, who after advising Blair on health became Blair’s political secretary in 2001. Hill had previously worked for the Audit Commission and Capita.

Simon Stevens, who was a special advisor at the Dept of Health, 1997-01 and eventually ended up running the whole NHS. Simon has now linked up with the Top Doctors and others to maintain that the only thing wrong with the NHS is that it hasn’t been given enough dosh. Well after Blair gave into every demand of the Top Doctors and then cooked the books to pretend that Patsy had balanced them, it is hardly surprising that Simon Stevens is trying his luck. Before he worked for Blair, Stevens was Director of the East Sussex, Brighton and Hove Health Authority. John Allen, a leading light in the north Wales paedophile gang who is now in prison – yet again – for abusing youngsters, trafficked kids from north Wales to work in the brothels that he owned in Brighton.

Darren Murphy was a Dept of Health advisor on press and Parliamentary relations in 2002. So Darren made sure that what was happening in Mid-Staffs and in some of the nation’s allegedly leading teaching hospitals never saw the light of day. Murphy was a Newcastle Councillor.

Paul Corrigan was a member of the DoH class of 2002. Paul has starred on this blog before, he is the husband of Blair’s mate Hilary Armstrong, whose dad Ernest kept the lid on the paedophiles of Gateshead who later relocated to north Wales and set up business in a major way (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III’).  Paul was an executive  director of NLGN (New Local Gov’t Network) which was funded by Amec, Jarvis, Sodexho and Serco. All these companies won major NHS contracts.

Other health advisors with useful contacts in the media were Sue Nye, an old mate of Gordon Brown’s who is married to Gavyn Davies who was the Chair of the BBC and Catherine Rimmer, who was previously Political Research Director at the BBC.

Another advisor who has had a truly toxic influence was Sir Martin Narey. Narey was Director General of the Prison Service of England and Wales, 1998-03; Chief Executive of NOMS (the National Offender Management Service), 2004-05; Chief Executive of Barnardos, 2005-11; Gov’t advisor on adoption, 2001-13. So after a career in a brutal failing prison service which warehoused distressed people, in a failing dysfunctional Probation Service in which in north Wales some child abusers were employed and then in a charity which also provided a home for paedophiles, Narey was deemed suitable to advise the Gov’t on adoption. What did Narey advise? He advised that many more children should be removed from their parents and adopted. After receiving Narey’s advice the Gov’t announced that adoption would be one of its domestic priorities. There is now substantial evidence that children are being removed from parents simply if they are very poor or become homeless. Children are also being removed from people who have learning disabilities, mental health problems, alcohol or drug problems, before any effort has been made to support them. Children are being removed from girls who have been in care themselves – because it is assumed that they will not be able to look after their children.

A few years ago the Times launched an ‘adoption campaign’ and asked Narey for his opinion. Narey wrote a report for the Times and in order to assist him he sought advice from: Barnardos, BAAF, the Royal College of Paediatrics, Action for Children, 4Children, the Children’s Society, NSPCC, Directors of Children’s Services. Every one of these bodies has been complicit with the institutionalised abuse of children.

Narey also has the explanation for the appalling outcomes of children in care. It’s not because they are abused and neglected by a chaotic, dysfunctional, corrupted child protection system that lost its way many years ago. It is because of the damage done to the children before they are taken into care by those hopeless parents of theirs. Whilst it is true that many children taken into care have experienced neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents, some of those who ended up in children’s homes in north Wales came from caring homes but their parents had died. Their children ended up dead or in prison along with everyone else because being beaten, buggered, raped and sold to Top Doctors/social workers/police officers/lawyers/politicians for sex isn’t a very pleasant experience.

When Narey left his position as Chief Executive of Barnardos, he was replaced by Anne Marie Carrie, the former Deputy Chief Executive of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Family and Children’s Services. Prior to that, Anne Marie was Regional Director of Local Gov’t (London) at the Office of the Deputy PM. Anne Marie joined Prezza’s office after working as the Corporate Director of North Tyneside Council and before that Anne Marie was Director of Education and Family Services for East Lothian Council. Anne Marie was a Commissioner with Milburn’s Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission. She was also a non-executive Director of Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital and Chair of the Academy Trustees for Holland Park School. In In 2011 Anne Marie explained in an interview that she wanted to give a ‘strong voice’ to children and in an interview with the Herald Scotland in 2012 Anne Marie stated that sometimes parents are given too many chances.

In 2016 Anne Marie was appointed CEO of Children’s Services at the Cambian Group. A few days ago it was revealed that residents in Cambian Group homes were being abused.

The North West Wales NHS Trust was sending mental health patients to Cambian Group homes. The patients were reporting abuse. At least one parent of a patient told her son’s psychiatrist at the Hergest Unit that he was being abused at Cambian. Her concerns were ignored. Her son ran away from the Cambian home. Because he was sectioned, the police returned him to his abusers. Martin Jones was Chief Executive of the North West Wales NHS Trust whilst this happened. Martin is now Director of Workforce at the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III

I’m kicking off this third post in the Tony Blair series with yet another person who was PPS to Blair, a man who was appointed PPS to Blair just as David Hanson (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part II) moved upward and onward. I am talking about Keith Hill, who was PPS to Blair from 2005 until Blair resigned in 2007.

Keith Hill was the Labour MP for Streatham, 1992-2010. So he was another one who was selected as a candidate before Blair got his hands on the controls of the Labour Party machine. In fact Hill was the Labour candidate for Blaby (Nigel Lawson’s constituency in Leicestershire) in 1979, so Hill had been around for a very long time.

Keith Hill was born and went to school in Leicester. He then went to Oxford – and after graduating completed a Diploma in Education at that hive of activity of the paedophiles’ friends whose stronghold was/is in Wales, Aberystwyth University. Hill then lectured at Leicester University and at Strathclyde University, 1969-73.

The fact that Keith Hill both taught at Leicester University and some ten years later stood for Blaby suggests that he retained links to his place of origin. Could Keith Hill have been someone else who knew about the activities of Greville Janner and his friend Frank Beck with children in care and that Leicester City Council, the Social Services and people in Leicester University were concealing child abuse?

Hill worked as a research officer for the Labour Party’s International Dept, 1974-76 and was then the political officer with the NUR (National Union of Railwaymen), which subsequently amalgamated with the NUS (National Union of Seamen) – with which John Prescott had a long association – to form the RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers) in 1990. The RMT became a very powerful union – it is a big supporter of Jeremy Corbyn – thanks to the efforts of Bob Crow, it’s General Secretary, 2002-14. Crow was loathed by many for claiming to speak for the working class whilst he drew a salary of approx. £150k pa, dined in Mayfair restaurants and went on luxury cruises. However many of those who loathed Crow were dreadful themselves and certainly didn’t live modestly – Crow’s critics included Blair, Priti Patel, Max Hastings and Richard Littlejohn. In 1997 Bob Crow briefly joined the Socialist Labour Party, which was established by his mate Arthur Scargill. Michael Mansfield – who studiously ignored anything to do with the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal, as well as other child abuse cases and worked with a number of people who had colluded with child abuse (see post ‘Workers’ Play Time’) – was also a mate of Scargills and co-founded the Socialist Labour Party. I saw Arthur Scargill speak at Bangor University about six years ago – the person who seemed to have arranged his visit to Bangor was a paedophiles’ friend (see post ‘It’s All About Protecting Children’).

In 1992 Keith Hill took the seat of Streatham from the sitting Conservative MP Sir William Shelton, who had occupied the seat since 1974. Prior to that, Shelton had been the Tory MP for Clapham.

William Shelton had been one of the key people who ensured that Thatcher became leader of the Conservative Party in 1975. Airey Neave managed Thatcher’s campaign, with Shelton as his second in command. Shelton was responsible for mobilising the right wing of the Party behind Thatcher and also sent out misinformation to the media in order to manipulate the campaign outcome. Shelton would have been good at that – before entering politics he had pursued a career in advertising and he remained in that business whilst he was an MP. He was the MD for Grosvenor Advertising in 1969, the Chairman of Washer, Fox, Coughlin and in 1983 set up Shelton Consultants. He was appointed a Director of Saracen Consultants in 1987. Shelton undertook a lot of international work and at times had been based in Colombia and Venezuela.

Shelton was politically active in south London for years. In 1964 he was President of Wandsworth Young Conservatives; he sat on the GLC representing Wandsworth in 1967; in 1968 he was Chief Whip for the Conservative majority on ILEA. Whilst he was MP for Streatham, he clashed with the leadership of Lambeth Borough Council whilst the Council was under the control of Ted Knight. That will have been when Peter Mandelson was a member of the Council, along with Paul Boateng, Linda Bellos and many other friends of this blog. Whilst Lambeth Council’s children’s homes were rife with paedophiles and when the Council were sending some of the kids in its care to north Wales – where they were abused by paedophiles. I can’t find any references to Shelton speaking out about that though – or about the abuse of children in Wandsworth or about the corruption and malpractice at St George’s Hospital Medical School which from 1980 onwards was located just down the road and covered the population of Streatham. The wrongdoing that I witnessed and experienced at St George’s and the associated mental health unit Springfield Hospital took place between 1989-91, whilst Shelton was MP. As did the bizarre behaviour of the corrupt detectives in Streatham Police Station in 1990/91 when the mental health services in north Wales perjured themselves and demanded that I be arrested (see post ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London’) – detectives which included a man who boasted about having worked for the North Wales Police and whilst he was stationed there had, with his mates in the police, beaten up and framed local young men from Bethesda and thrown them in Llyn Ogwen. He had got away with it every time thanks to his friendship with a local corrupt magistrate Geoff, who was the landlord of the Douglas Arms Hotel in Bethesda. I remember those days well – on occasions, young men were found drowned in that lake, after having ‘gone swimming whilst drunk’.

Geoff and his wife Sheila had a son who, like Aled Jones and Catrin Finch, was a bit of a child star. Geoff’s son was a very talented organist and succeeded in winning a scholarship to Eton. As with Aled and Catrin, TV programmes and media articles appeared regarding the genius that was Geoff’s son. I think that he went on to either Oxford or Cambridge and after that returned to north Wales, to St Asaph Cathedral. There was a problem at that Cathedral – in 2015 Hugh Davies, the man who had been the choirmaster and organist at St Asaph, 1985-98, was imprisoned for the possession of child porn. Even more worryingly, a former music pupil of Davies’s who had alleged that Davies had abused him whilst he was a teenager killed himself.

Sir William Shelton was also MP for Streatham when Oliver Brooke, Professor of Paediatrics at St George’s, was jailed in 1986 for the possession of huge quantities of child porn – which he had stored in offices at St George’s…

There was another notorious establishment in Shelton’s constituency – Cynthia Payne’s brothel at Ambleside Avenue. Cynthia’s brothel came to national prominence in 1978 when the police raided it and found a sex party in full swing attended by over 50 men, including a peer, a number of solicitors and a vicar. What was not published in the press was that a number of consultants from St George’s availed themselves of the services of Cynthia’s brothel – she was also known to have judges on her guest list. After the trial in 1980, Cynthia ended up in Holloway, but none of the brothel’s customers were named let alone prosecuted. The police raided Cynthia again in 1986, whilst another party was underway but at her trial in 1987 Cynthia was acquitted.

I do not mind if Cynthia held sex parties for consenting adults and I certainly don’t think that she should have been imprisoned for doing so, but the worrying thing about Cynthia’s brothel was the allegations that men with a taste for sexual activities which did not involve consenting adults were using it as a networking base. Friendships between judges, Top Doctors, solicitors, policemen etc made in the brothel could have proved very useful in the events of people being charged for sex offences.

The detectives who worked on the Oliver Brooke case were livid when Brooke was released early on appeal after the judge compared Brooke’s collection of child porn to a collection of cigarette cards. The police who had investigated Brooke maintained that he was Mr Big in a pan-European child porn ring.

Cynthia Payne was very friendly with Screaming Lord Sutch, the leader of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party and at one point Sutch shared the house/brothel at Ambleside Avenue with her. Sutch was famous for polling more votes than Dr Death’s continuing SDP in the 1990 Bootle election, but what was less well-known was that David Sutch suffered from manic-depression and at times became very ill. I think the arrangement with Cynthia was that they were looking after each other, having both been through a bad time. Sutch hung himself in 1999 after a long period of severe depression. He had been under medical care for years and was known to have been in a very bad way.  So like all those former kids in care and mental health patients in north Wales who knew the names of the guilty and the details of their crimes, it would seem that David Sutch too wasn’t given the care that he needed when he was seriously ill and WHOOPS he killed himself. And his memories will have died with him – the memories of all those people who were visiting the brothel, those doctors and judges and peers and politicians who would have had a lot to lose if ever they were to be named in say, a child abuse scandal and David Sutch recognised their names.

David Sutch hung himself just before the Waterhouse Report was published. So he was not receiving appropriate help for severe depression whilst the Waterhouse Inquiry was underway and taking evidence.

Why do I remember so much about the brothel at Ambleside Avenue? Because at the time when I was being hounded out of my job at St George’s and arrested on trumped up charges at the behest of the mental health services in north Wales, I lived in Streatham. Not a million miles away from Ambleside Avenue. No I didn’t ever pop across for a cup of tea with Cynthia and Lord Sutch, but that’s because I didn’t at the time know that St George’s and their associates had links with and were concealing the criminal activities of the paedophiles’ friends in north Wales – I only found out about that years later, when my lawyer obtained documentation from St George’s and Springfield.

I described in my post ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London’ how those esteemed experts at St George’s all agreed with Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends that I was Most Dangerous and was probably planning to murder Dafydd et al in their beds, yet Professor Nigel Eastman – one of the corrupt Top Doctors at St George’s who is a mate of Helena Kennedy (see post ‘Eve Was Framed – As Were A Lot Of Other People’) – told me that he thought that I ought to go back to live in north Wales. This was my desire as well, because I hated London and presumed that they were simply all quite mad down there and although there was also a bunch of mad, corrupt Top Doctors constantly having me arrested when I was in north Wales as well, I reckoned that if I was going to be threatened and harassed constantly I’d rather be living in nice surroundings. However I did think it a little odd that Eastman had recommended this – did he want me to murder Jones and the paedophiles in cold blood and that’s why he recommended that I go back and live on their patch?? But what if Eastman et al had been concerned about who I might meet if I remained living in Streatham? They knew that I had researched Jones and the paedophiles’ friends, they knew that I was identifying their associates and they knew that I was beginning to find out the extent of their criminal activities. Just imagine if I continued to live in Streatham and started comparing notes with Cynthia Payne or David Sutch…

It is interesting to note that at her second trial Cynthia was acquitted. In 1987. By which time, Mary Wynch, Alison Taylor and I were making a lot of noise about the criminal activities of Dafydd Alun Jones and Lucille Hughes in north Wales. The Dafydd and Lucille who were facilitating a paedophile ring in north Wales which was trafficking children to London – the Dafydd and Lucille who were on very good terms with all those Top Doctors and social workers based at St George’s.

I was interested to read that William Shelton was ‘a traditionalist on moral issues’, in the light of what was happening in his constituency.

Dafydd Alun Jones was a traditionalist on moral issues as well – at least when he was giving talks to the members of various Churches in north Wales (see post ‘A Serious Moral Collapse?’). Then when he’d finished his lecture he would return to base to facilitate a paedophile gang, sexually exploit the patients, lie in Court and sell drugs to addicts.

After Thatcher became leader of the Tory Party, William Shelton worked as her PPS for a year. Shelton was Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Dept of Education and Science, 1981-83. The Secretary of State for Education and the Science at the time was Sir Keith Joseph. Brown and me wrote to Keith Joseph when we were undergrads – about student funding – and Keith Joseph wrote us a very rude letter back. Thatcher probably put us on her hit list then and subsequently escalated our names to the very top when we complained about Gwynne the lobotomist and Dafydd and the paedophiles a few years later.

As befits someone who was a traditionalist on moral issues, William Shelton was banned from being a company director for five years in 1997, after an investigation into ‘financial irregularities’ in his company Access To Justice. Shelton had set up Access To Justice in 1995 to provide free legal advice for people on low incomes. Which sounds an interesting company for a hard right Thatcherite to have established. I wonder who was receiving the free legal advice and for what. Or indeed who was providing it.

After Thatcher became leader of the Conservative Party in 1975, the victory party was held at Shelton’s house in Pimlico – Thatch and Denis attended the celebration.

Sir Peter Morrison – the Tory MP elected for Chester in 1974 and who supported Thatcher’s 1975 leadership campaign – was known to be abusing children in care in north Wales. One boy from London alleged that Sir Peter Morrison abused him and some children in care from Wrexham maintained that they were taken to London and supplied to men for sex. Morrison was Deputy Chair of the Tory Party, 1986-87 and Thatcher’s PPS in 1990. When Thatcher was challenged for the leadership of the Tory Party by ‘stalking horse’ Sir Anthony Meyer in 1989, it was William Shelton who led her campaign. Anthony Meyer didn’t manage to depose Thatcher on that occasion but she was sufficiently weakened by him to crumble in 1990 when there was another leadership challenge. The organiser of Thatcher’s leadership campaign in 1990 was Sir Peter Morrison.

I told the story of Sir Anthony Meyer and his leadership challenge in my post ‘The Celtic Iron Lady And Yet More Recent History’. Anthony Meyer died a real unsung hero. Not only did he know how bloody dangerous Thatcher was and how dysfunctional and corrupt the Tories in Clwyd – and their leaderene Beata Brookes – were, but I think that Anthony Meyer knew about the paedophile ring as well and was trying to chuck a spanner in their works. Meyer was constructed as a deluded old bugger with grandiose ambitions – he wasn’t, he was a very brave man who did north Wales a very big favour and I only wish that there had been more politicians like Meyer, instead of hordes of weak greedy little people who ignored something horrific in order to bag a seat in Parliament.

To return to Keith Hill, the mate of Blair’s who was MP for Streatham after Shelton. Years before he was appointed PPS to Blair, in 1997 Hill was appointed PPS to a big buddy of Blair, Hilary Armstrong. Armstrong was one of Blair’s inner circle and Blair repeatedly praises her loyalty and commitment to New Labour in his autobiography.

Hilary Armstrong was Labour MP for North West Durham, 1987-10 and is now in the Lords. She was a student at the University of East London (then West Ham Technical Institute) and then went to the University of Birmingham to do a Diploma in Social Work. Hilary describes herself as a ‘former social worker and lecturer’ – she lectured in Community and Youth Work at Sunderland Poly and was a community worker at Southwick Neighbourhood Action Project, Sunderland. Hilary also did a stint with VSO in Kenya.

So Hilary was yet another social worker selected as a candidate for Labour during those years when it was evident that there was one hell of a problem with children in the care of social workers being sexually abused. Just to add to the suspicion in Hilary’s case, there could have been a great degree of control exercised by the Labour Party machine regarding the choice of Hilary as a candidate and indeed when it was decided that Hilary might be needed in the Commons – because Hilary took over her dad’s Parliamentary seat when he retired! I’ll return to Hilary’s dad soon.

Hilary was a Durham County Councillor, for Crook North Division, 1985-88. She was PPS to John Smith when he was leader of the Labour Party 1992-94 and Hilary played a major part in ensuring that the Labour Party adopted the policy of OMOV. Hilary was a member of AMICUS, the union which was formed from a merger between the AEUU and MSF. At least one of the MSF reps at St George’s Hospital Medical School in the late 80s/early 90s was corrupt and was concealing serious misconduct and criminal activity. AMICUS later merged with the TGWU to form UNITE. Hilary used her union links to drum up support within the Labour Party to rewrite Clause IV.

In the 1992 General Election, both Tim Farron and Theresa May stood against Hilary.

Hilary Armstrong spent four years as Minister for Local Gov’t in the DETR (Dept for the Environment, Transport and the Regions) and then the DTLR (Dept for Transport, Local Gov’t and the Regions). Hilary’s boss during these years was none other than John Prescott.

After the 2001 General Election Blair appointed Hilary Chief Whip. In May 2006 she became Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster; she was Minister for Social Exclusion, 2006-07. Hilary resigned from the Gov’t in June 2007 when Blair resigned as PM. Gordon subsequently appointed her as Chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party’s Manifesto Committee regarding policy ideas covering children…

In 2010 Hilary was given her peerage. She is Chair of Changing Lives, a charity in the North East which provides services for people with complex needs – Changing Lives is commissioned to provide some services for the NHS.

Hilary is married to Paul Corrigan, who was a senior advisor to Blair and his Health Secretaries Alan Milburn and John Reid, 2001-07. Between 2007-09 Corrigan was Director of Strategy and Commissioning at London Strategic Health Authority.

Corrigan ticks every box that someone should who has been involved with our institutionally corrupt NHS which has concealed neglect, poor care, patient deaths and has ruined the lives of whistleblowers. He is or has been: a non-executive Director of the CQC, as well as of the Kings Fund and Nuffield Trust; adjunct Professor of Health Policy at Imperial College; adjunct Professor of Health Policy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong; involved with Public Private Ltd (a consultancy firm based at Queen Elizabeth Street); a member of the Strategic Committee of Guys and Tommys Charity; a Trustee of the Ways To Wellness Foundation in Newcastle;  a Trustee of the English Touring Theatre.

Corrigan also works for NHS Providers, teaching on induction courses for non-executive and executive directors. He also describes himself as ‘a consultant and a coach’.

I have previously speculated that the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal which blew up between Feb and July 1987 in the North East of England provided a useful distraction and muddied the waters in a most convenient way at a time when Mary Wynch, Alison Taylor and I were all screaming loudly about the criminal activities in north Wales. My post ‘The Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Connection?’ details some of the links between the paedophiles’ friends in north Wales and the North East of England.

Now to the man whose retirement enabled Hilary, his only child, to bag a seat in Parliament – Ernest Armstrong, Labour MP for North West Durham, 1964-87.

In 1983 one Tony Blair, a barrister living in London, was elected as Labour MP for the newly created constituency of Sedgefield, just next door to Ernest’s constituency. Just like that.

Ernest Armstrong went to Leeds Teacher Training College and became a primary school headmaster. He was elected as a Councillor on Sunderland Borough Council and Chaired the Sunderland Education Committee, 1960-65. Ernest was elected to Parliament in 1964. In 1965 he was appointed PPS to Tony Greenwood (who had been Deputy Leader of the Labour Party under Clement Attlee) and then PPS to Merlyn Rees.

Merlyn Rees was Labour MP for Leeds South (which changed its name to Morley and Leeds South in 1983), 1963-92. We now know that a paedophile ring was in operation in the Leeds area whilst Merlyn Rees was MP for that constituency. Furthermore there was serious police corruption in the region and it was also the stamping ground of Jimmy Savile. Savile was molesting patients in the local hospitals and Yorkshire was also host to the Kerr Haslam scandal. William Kerr and Michael Haslam were two psychiatrists in York who were known to be sexually assaulting and raping their female patients between the 1960s and 90s. They were not stopped until they had almost hit retirement age, never faced any action from the GMC and were not put on trial until the early years of the millennium – the trials were at Leeds Crown Court. Even then, only one of them went to prison and only for a short while. See post ‘All The Ingredients Of A Scandal…’ for details of the Kerr Haslam scandal.

Merlyn Rees was born in Pontypridd in south Wales but moved to London and went to school at Harrow. He was Secretary of State for N Ireland 1974-76, when the sexual abuse of children at the Kincora Boys Home in Belfast by Whitehall civil servants and members of the British Army was concealed. Rees then served as Home Secretary under Jim Callaghan between 1974-79. Bryn Estyn had been an approved school managed directly by the Home Office until just before Merlyn Rees was appointed Home Secretary. He will have known about the sexual assaults and brutality on the boys there. The Home Office was responsible for running Risley Remand Centre. Mary Wynch had been unlawfully arrested and imprisoned in Risley Remand Centre by Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends whilst Merlyn Rees was Home Secretary. Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends were using that place as their personal prison which was why Mary ended up in there – along with the kids in care from north Wales who complained about being sexually abused or beaten up.

Merlyn Rees retired from the Commons at the 1992 General Election. Just as it was all going off in North Wales, with police investigations into a suspected paedophile ring, former residents of children’s homes naming Gordon Anglesea – a senior officer with the North Wales Police – as having been one of the people who molested them and reports of the abuse of children in care in north Wales appearing in the London media. Then days before the General Election, five possible witnesses with information about the paedophile gang in north Wales were killed in a fire started by a petrol bomb  – the man who was alleged to have confessed to starting the fire was found dead days later having been hit by a lorry on a country road and one survivor of the fire died in mysterious circumstances after he alleged that victims of the paedophile gang were being murdered (see post ‘The Silence of the Welsh Lambs).

As soon as Merlyn Rees stepped down from the Commons he was given a peerage and became Lord Merlyn-Rees.

Ernest Armstrong was Assistant Gov’t Whip, 1967-69 and Lord Commissioner of the Treasury, 1969-70.

Ernest was a junior Minister in the Dept of Education and Science under Secretary of State Reg Prentice, 1974-75. Reg Prentice was a Minister in both Labour and Conservative Gov’ts. He was Labour MP for East Ham North (which later became Newham North East) from 1957 until 1977 when he defected to the Tories. Before he defected he was Minister of State at the Dept of Education and Science, 1964-66 – under Secretary of State Tony Crosland – then Secretary of State for Education and Science 1974-75.

Prentice left the Labour Party in 1977 after local activists deselected him. The local party had been infiltrated by Militant and in an attempt to ensure that Prentice wasn’t deselected, a Julian Lewis posed as a Labour moderate and joined the constituency party. It was later revealed that Julian Lewis had been backed by the far right Freedom Association. Lewis’s attempts to shore up Prentice’s position in the Labour Party were unsuccessful although he did gain control of the Newham Labour Party for a short time in 1976, but Lewis himself was elected as Tory MP for the New Forest in 1997, a seat he still occupies. Throughout the 80s Julian Lewis took part in covert activities to oppose left wing causes, particularly the anti-nuclear movement. He used Ann Widdecombe for this purpose (see post ‘Doris Karloff – Honest About Her Expenses But Not Much Else’).

After being deselected in Newham, Prentice became Tory MP for Daventry in 1979, after receiving considerable help from Lady Kisty Hesketh, Chair of the Daventry Conservative Association. Daventry is in Northamptonshire. The county contains St Andrews Hospital, a psychiatric hospital which for decades has been the centre of allegations of abuse and neglect and played a role in the case of Jeremy Bamber, a suspected serious miscarriage of justice (see post ‘Family Annihilation’). Much more recently there has been great concern at the number of learning disabled people being detained at St Andrews against the wishes of both they and their families. At least one such patient has died as a result of ‘restraint’ and ‘medication’.

After being elected as a Tory MP Prentice enjoyed a new lease of life and became a junior Minister for Social Security in the DHSS between 1979-81 in Thatcher’s Gov’t. The Secretary of State for Social Security at the time was Patrick Jenkin, who was best remembered for stating that if God had wanted us to have equal opportunities he wouldn’t have created men and women.  Which is almost as good as the old joke about the vicar who wrote a letter to the Times saying that if God had wanted us to run around naked we’d have been born with no clothes on.

There was of course organised abuse of children in Newham in the 70s and 80s – it was yet another Borough which was sending children in care to children’s homes in north Wales…

In 1992 John Major gave Prentice a peerage. In his later years, Prentice was President of the Conservative Association at Devizes. The local MP was Michael Ancram, Chairman of the Conservative Party.

After his stint with Reg Prenctice, Ernest Armstrong then became a junior Minister in the Dept of the Environment, 1975-79 – he served under two Secretaries of State there, initially under his friend Tony Crosland and then under Peter Shore. Peter Shore was MP for Stepney, 1964-97. Shortly after he was elected, he was appointed PPS to Harold Wilson the PM. Denis Healey referred to Shore as ‘Harold’s lapdog’. Stepney is in the Borough of Tower Hamlets. Tower Hamlets was yet another Borough that sent kids in its care into the arms of the paedophiles in north Wales (see post ‘Tower Hamlets, Paul Boateng and Tessa Jowell’). In 1994 Blair nominated Shore as his representative on the Commission On Standards in Public Life. Peter Shore received a peerage in 1997.

Ernest Armstrong’s obituary in the ‘Indie’ states that Ernest was very influential on Tony Crosland and civil servant Toby Weaver, whilst Crosland was Secretary of State for Education and Science, 1965-67. For more details about the bisexual Tony Crosland and the swinger whom he had an affair with, Roy Jenkins – whom Blair described as his ‘mentor’ – see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part I’.

Between 1981-87 Ernest was Deputy Speaker. He was Deputy to George Thomas aka Lord Tonypandy  – who concealed corruption and abuse of children whilst he was in the Welsh Office (see post ‘The Cradle of Filth’) and was posthumously investigated for historical child abuse himself, as was his friend Leo Abse.

George Thomas said of Armstrong that he was ‘a man whose reliability was as solid as Durham Cathedral’. Betty Boothroyd – who became Speaker herself and in that capacity prevented Ann Clwyd from asking questions in the House regarding the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal at the time of the investigations in the early 1990s – stated that Armstrong ‘helped to steer my early Parliamentary career’.

The good thing about Ernest was that he was a devout Christian – like his daughter’s bosom buddy Tony Blair and Tony’s wife Cherie. Ernest was to be precise a Methodist and was Vice-Chair of the Methodist Conference, 1974-75. Ernest was active in the UNA (United Nations Association).

Dafydd Alun Jones was invited to speak at Bangor University by the UNA some years ago – Dafydd was billed as an expert on drug abuse and was going to be speaking about that subject. Dafydd’s event was cancelled after I offered to attend and distribute information about Dafydd’s previous.

Like William Shelton, Ernest took a firm line on morality and he seconded Tim Sainsbury’s Private Members Indecent Displays (Control) Bill, 1980-81. I wonder if Ernest knew that Hilary’s and Blair’s friend Alastair Campbell used to write pornographic stories for Forum magazine? Although to be fair Forum didn’t have pictures in, just letters and stories and medical advice provided by Dr Philip Cauthery, who doubled up as the student doctor at Aston University whilst Aston had one of the highest rates of student suicides among UK universities. Cauthery also ran a sex therapy business with Dr Martin Cole in Birmingham, whom Mary Whitehouse tried to have prosecuted for running a brothel.

Ernest Armstrong was political advisor for the TV drama House of Cards. I never saw this, but I did hear a lot about it – I understand that the storyline centred around a particularly unpleasant scheming politician who was prepared to ruin and kill people in order to become PM.

Peter Howarth, one of the paedophiles who worked at Bryn Estyn who eventually went to prison for the serious sexual abuse of boys there, had between 1966-73 been employed at Axwell School in Gateshead. Matt Arnold had been the headmaster at Axwell whilst Howarth worked there. In May 1973 Arnold was appointed Head of Bryn Estyn. In November 1973 Howarth was appointed to a senior position in Bryn Estyn.

Just to remind readers – Ernest Armstrong was a teacher whose main interest was in education and he Chaired the Sunderland Education Committee between 1960-65. He also influenced and was friends with Tony Crosland, whilst Crosland was the Secretary of State for Education – whilst Howarth and Arnold worked at Gateshead.

Howarth and Arnold were not the only abusers of children in the North East of England. There was an approved school in Durham run by an ‘expert’ in ‘troubled children’ where children were being sexually and physically assaulted and whilst Blair was MP for Sedgefield one of the activists in his local Labour Party was convicted of child abuse.

After Keith Hill had finished being PPS to Hilary Armstrong, in 1998 he was appointed Assistant Gov’t Whip and then in 1999 Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (and Minister for London) at the DETR. Hill was responsible for local transport and transport in London. Hill also prepared the way for the London Mayoral elections and was Minister for the national joke that was the Millennium Dome.

After the 2001 General Election, Hill was appointed Deputy Chief Whip by Blair.

In 2003 Hill joined the many paedophiles’ friends in the Privy Council. (He was offered a knighthood in 2010 but turned it down.)

Until the 2005 General Election, Hill was Minister for Housing and Planning in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, ie. Prescott. It was after the 2005 reshuffle that Keith Hill became PPS to Blair. Hill returned to the backbenches when Gordon Brown became PM in 2007.

After leaving Parliament, Hill became Chair of Lambeth Living, an ALMO (arms-length management organisation) which administers most of Lambeth’s  social housing stock. In 2012 he was appointed as the independent regulator for ARMA (the Association of Managing Agents). ARMA is described as a trade association for firms managing private residential leasehold blocks of flats in England and Wales. It is a ‘self-regulating regime’. I cannot help wondering why, if the firms managing the accommodation are abiding by the law and adhering to health and safety regulations, they need Keith Hill to allow them to do what they want in the name of ‘self-regulation’ and ‘arms length management’.

Grenfell Tower anyone?

In Feb 1915 Keith became Chair of  the Residents Commission On Council Housing for Hammersmith and Fulham Council. We are told that ‘the Commission is working with council house tenants to explore how they can be given more control and safeguards over their homes, rents and service charges’. Sounds like service userdom for tenants to me – consult them and hold them responsible for things which they have no control over. It will then be their fault when their houses go up in flames a la Grenfell Tower.

When Keith Hill stood down from the Commons, Chuka Umunna took over the seat of Streatham. A feature in a local paper looked back on Keith Hill’s time as MP for the constituency and mentioned that in the late 1980s Keith Hill shared a flat with the transgender cross-dressing comedian, major Labour Party donor and aspiring Labour MP Eddie Izzard. Eddie is a big supporter of Jeremy Corbyn – who was one of the many people politically involved in Islington when Islington Council’s children’s homes had been infiltrated by a paedophile gang with links to organised crime. The paper reported that Hill and Izzard shared a flat in Ambleside Gardens in Streatham. From what I can work out there is no Ambleside Gardens in Streatham – but there is most definitely an Ambleside Avenue. It was where Cynthia and Lord Sutch lived – Cynthia’s brothel.

Until Keith Hill won Streatham for Labour, for many years Streatham had been a Tory constituency. Hill’s win was attributed to a boundary change, which resulted in a sizeable part of Brixton, including the town hall, being relocated to the constituency of Streatham. I do not know who will have been responsible for the boundary change – but it certainly presented an opportunity for yet more concealing of the organised abuse of children and associated serious crime.

Whilst searching the internet for info about Keith Hill, an unrelated but topical news report popped up. It mentioned a Baroness Julia Cumberlege who had Chaired the ‘Better Births’ National Maternity Review in 2015. The report featured a nice photo of Cumberlege with some new mums who had all stated that they were delighted with Cumberlege’s recommendations for natural births. Over the last few months there has been an admission that there has been far too much dogma regarding ‘natural birth’ and whilst it is absolutely fine for some women, a number of women have suffered serious injury or have lost their babies because of a reluctance of midwives to intervene. In some cases mothers have died. It was the dogmatic insistence on natural births by a group of aggressive – and incompetent -midwives at Furness General Hospital Cumbria that led to a spate of deaths of babies. The deaths were concealed by the NHS and the sordid truth was only discovered by James Titcombe after his own baby died at the hospital in 2008. James was subsequently invited to contribute to the CQC’s work re patient safety but resigned after facing relentless hostility and rudeness from the midwives associated with the CQC. Cumberlege’s review didn’t take the Cumbria experience into account then.

Julia Cumberlege was given a peerage in 1990 – she sits as a Tory. I don’t know WHY Cumberlege was given a peerage, her wiki simply intriguingly refers to her coming ‘from a medical family’. That usually translates as ‘my dad’s a Top Doctor’.

In 1986 Cumberlege was involved with producing a report which recommended allowing Angels to prescribe certain drugs. In mental health that has been interpreted as giving Angels carte blanche to forcibly drug any patient they feel like – a patient who may for example be questioning them or even complaining about being ‘restrained’ – without seeking another opinion.

After arriving in the Lords, Cumberlege was in 1992 appointed a junior Health Minister. Until 1997 she covered all health and social services matters in the Lords. So she’ll have covered the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal, the associated criminality in the mental health services and the commissioning of Dr Dafydd Alun Jones to provide ‘substance abuse services’ for north Wales (see post ‘The Evolution Of A Drugs Baron?’).

Cumberlege was the ‘sponsor Minister’ for Plymouth, responsible for the regeneration and a budget of £45 million pa. Why she was let loose with that sort of money I do not know.

Speaking in the Lords in 2000 Cumberlege recommended replacing the NHS with an insurance premium. She has also promoted the use of private provision within the NHS and suggested that Gov’t should put hospitals under private practice. Note to Cumberlege: Cygnet Healthcare and the Priory are now being commissioned to provide huge swathes of mental health care for NHS patients. There has been scandal after scandal and numerous patient deaths. That is because Cygnet and the Priory are run by the same shite, unscrupulous Top Doctors who previously neglected their NHS patients and concealed criminal misconduct eg. Robert Kehoe, Adrienne Key and Robin Jacobson. Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence paid good money for treatment from the Priory Roehampton. They are both dead, having killed themselves.

In 2010 Cumberlege was awarded an honorary Fellowship by the RCN.
Cumberlege is, among other things: a Trustee of Cancer Research UK; a Senior Associate of the Kings Fund; Secretary of the Dying Well Parliamentary Group; Vice-President of the Royal Society for Public Health; honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians; Vice-President of the Royal College of Nursing and Midwifery; President of Age UK, East Sussex.

Cumberlege is a Roman Catholic. In 2006-07 she Chaired the Commission reviewing the approach of the Catholic Church in England and Wales to child protection. She also spoke at the Catholic Medical Association in Bristol in 2009 – the meeting was officiated by Catholic prelate Archbishop Peter Smith.

Peter Smith is the Metropolitan Archbishop of Southwark. He was Bishop of East Anglia (1995-01) and the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cardiff (2001-10). Peter Smith has a law degree from Exeter University.

Smith was named as Archbishop of Cardiff in the wake of a controversy regarding paedophile priests in the archdiocese.  Smith stated that he wanted ‘to help people bind up the wounds and bring healing’.

In 2010 Smith was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Southwark. In 2015 Southwark Crown Court heard that Peter Smith was one of two bishops responsible for allowing Father Antony McSweeney to be appointed a priest in the Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia following an incident in 1998 when a housekeeper found porn at McSweeney’s home. Peter Smith treated the matter as one for the church to deal with alone and did not involve the police. Since Smith made that decision, McSweeney was imprisoned for abusing boys at Grafton House children’s home between 1978-81.

Peter Smith has Chaired the Catholic Truth Society since 1993, Chaired the Dept for Christian Responsibility and Citizenship within the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales since 1998 and Chaired the Central Religious Advisory Committee of the BBC and ITC between 2001-04. He was made an honorary Fellow of the University of Wales Lampeter in 2004 and an honorary Fellow of Cardiff University in 2006.

In 2001 Cumberlege set up her own company, Cumberlege Connections Ltd. Her husband Patrick Cumberlege is a Director.

The Cumberleges were in the Courts earlier this year. They are opposing the development of affordable homes in East Sussex, in the village of Newick. The Cumberleges explained to the Court that they are residents of Newick and members of Newick Village Society. Patrick is the former Chairman of Newick Village Society and the Baroness has been a parish, district and County Councillor, ‘representing the village’. And they certainly don’t want riff-raff moving in near them.

Top Doctors In Trouble Again And News Round Up

A glut of Top Doctors from north west Wales have featured in the media this week after finding themselves in trouble.

The Daily Post online reported that Dr Richard Sion Williams, an ENT Consultant at Ysbyty Gwynedd, appeared in Llandudno Magistrates Court after being charged with threatening behaviour. Williams has been involved in a long running spat with the National Trust who own the Vaynol Estate near Bangor where Williams lives and things exploded on March 13. Two NT rangers removed approximately eight large concrete blocks that they found on a grass verge and put them back over Williams’s hedge, presuming that Williams had placed them on the verge. It seems that this scenario had happened a number of times previously and the rangers were following legal advice. The rangers then drove off, but slowly because the track was bumpy with potholes. Williams pursued them and according to John Whitley, one of the rangers, was ‘driving like a madman, very close to us, beeping his horn and flashing his headlights’. It is alleged that Williams got out of his vehicle and ran towards the rangers, whereupon Whitley told him ‘I’m not talking to you, you’re dangerous’. Williams got back into his vehicle, followed them and managed to overtake them twice, blocking their way. At one point after Williams had left his vehicle it is alleged that Williams ran alongside the rangers’ vehicle, banging on the window, yelling ‘I’m going to fucking kill you’. Whitley told the Court about Williams’s ‘sheer aggression and loss of control’, stating ‘I did fear for my safety…I really thought my life was in danger. I could see he meant me harm’. Whitley’s colleague Will Westwood claimed that ‘I thought he was going to ram us’. Williams’s barrister Ellen Owen maintained that the rangers’ story was ‘a flagrant case of lying on oath as these Courts are as likely to come across’. I hate to burst your bubble Ellen, but I think it is I who have evidence of the most flagrant cases of lying on oath that the Courts are as likely to come across – thirty years worth of documents compiled by Top Doctors, nurses, social workers and managers who lied their arses off on oath again and again, even after their own lawyers had told them that they didn’t have the evidence for their claims…. The Betsi now claims to have ‘lost’ these documents – but I still have my copies and I’ve stored them somewhere very safe, a long way from the Betsi’s paper shredders…

Another story from the Post featured the GPs of Meddygfa Rhydbach Surgery, Bontwnog (near Pwhelli), in particular a Dr Adriaan Smits. The surgery’s former practice manager, Meryl Williams, took this practice to an Employment Tribunal, alleging that the bunch of shites who double up as the partners there bullied her so badly that she was forced to resign. She has just won her claim for constructive dismissal. The story behind all this is that Meryl began work as a receptionist at the surgery in 1986 and in 1996 became practice manager, although she had never received formal training for this role. However, it seems that the previous partners thought highly of her and all was well until they retired. By 2014 the partners were Dr Adriaan Smits, Dr Gwyn Morris and Dr Zameel Haque. It was stated at the Tribunal that there was a long-running history of difficult interpersonal relationships between the surgery’s staff and the partners, particularly involving Dr Smits. In 2010 ten staff signed a letter complaining about Smits. He was described as ‘direct, brusque, blunt’ as well as ‘aggressive, irascible, overbearing’. After repeated clashes with Smits, Meryl eventually lodged a formal grievance, although at one point she had been talked out of lodging a formal grievance by Dr Gwyn Morris and she had subsequently raised the matter with the Local Health Board. After she lodged the formal grievance, the partners ‘closed ranks’, tried to discredit her and even accused her of financial irregularities, although they had no evidence of this. The partners referred the matter to independent consultants but the grievance and Meryl’s subsequent appeal were dismissed. The Employment Tribunal judge ruled in favour of Meryl however, stating that the independent consultants acted in good faith but had been unduly influenced by the partners’ approach which left them suspicious of the claimant. The judge referred to the environment of ‘oppression’ and ‘suspicion’ that Meryl worked in and that the partners could not be trusted to act fairly and reasonably in any procedures concerning her. I’m sorry to trump a Post shock horror scandal once more, but I think that the Hergest Unit and dear old Dr Tony Roberts have bettered the Bastards of Botwnog, who merely bullied an employee, accused her of nicking the dosh when she complained about them and then dripped poison into the ears of the ‘independent consultants’. When Tony Roberts did his best to ensure that I died some years ago – after I was assaulted by four staff whilst in his ‘care’ – because no-one at the North West Wales NHS Trust would co-operate with the investigation of my (very serious) complaint, my lawyer and I were instead offered a ‘mediator’ to resolve the situation. The mediator was from south Wales and was selected and paid for by the Trust. My lawyer constantly stressed to me that no matter how dreadfully the Trust had conducted themselves, we had to give the mediator a chance. So I agreed. The four staff who assaulted me refused to attend the mediation or answer any questions from me about any aspect of their conduct. Alun Davies, the manager of the Hergest Unit, refused to sit in the same room as me. Tony Roberts agreed to sit in the same room as me but only if I was accompanied by my lawyer and he was accompanied by the hospital solicitor, a duplicitous cow called Patricia Gaskell, whom I later discovered had done a very good impression of pretending to try to resolve the complaint when speaking to me and my lawyer, but behind the scenes was rolling over and reassuring violent staff and dangerous doctors that of course everything would be done on their terms. The heavily stage managed ‘mediation’ got underway and as the mediator finished outlining the terms of engagement, Roberts stood up, declared that ‘I’m not going to listen to this’ and waddled out of the room. Gaskell went after him and tried to persuade him to return but he wouldn’t. So that was the mediation. The mediator then wrote a letter stating that the situation was ‘unmediable’. Keith Thomson, Chief Exec of the Trust at that time, wrote a letter to my lawyer stating that the situation broke down because of my behaviour. He had to be reminded that it was Roberts who had walked out of the meeting before anyone had begun and that the rest of his staff refused to attend the meeting. Presumably the mediator who had witnessed all this didn’t feel able to write a letter explaining that Ysbyty Gwynedd was staffed by dangerous unhinged idiots throwing hissy fits, because it was the Trust who were paying him. At the time, Tony Roberts had such a high death rate among his patients that it showed up as a statistical outlier in the UK database. He continued to work at the Hergest Unit until last year.

There’s no guarantee of a better quality of practitioner if one ventures into the alternative medicine sector either, although having encountered Tony Roberts et al a lot of people do try this. Yet another story from the Post online features  Michael Hammond, an osteopath from Llangoed, Ynys Mon, who has been bailed to appear at Caernarfon Crown Court next month to face trial for sexually assaulting a female patient and voyeurism.

As if to emphasise just how useless the Top Doctors of north Wales are, the Post was also reporting that a Paul Hanley was jailed for 21 months at Mold Crown Court for violently assaulting his girlfriend – he was described as ‘paranoid and controlling’, with mental health issues and had grown up in care. I can only imagine the sorry story that will have been his life.

The Mail online and BBC also featured a Top Doctor Fail story, that of the murder of 16 year old Christine Edkins, who was stabbed by Philip Simelane whilst she was on a bus on Birmingham. In 2013 Simelane, described as a ‘paranoid schizophrenic’, admitted manslaughter and was detained indefinitely under the Mental Health Act. A previous report into this event of course maintained that Christine’s death was not predictable or preventable, yet at the same time fessed up to ‘serious failures’ on the part of the mental health and prison services  and paradoxically stated that had Simelane received mental health treatment the death could have been prevented. Yet another report has been produced regarding this case, one being commissioned by NHS England. It’s conclusions are just as confusing – that the death was not itself predictable nor was an attack on a member of the public, but it was clear that Simelane ‘would continue to deteriorate’ and was ‘likely to offend violently’.  Simelane had previously spent time in prison for assault and battery on his mother, but even so her subsequent please for help were ignored – before he attacked Christine, his mother had rung the police six times in two days fearing that Simelane would kill her. The report admitted that the police and mental health services were aware of ‘multiple episodes’ involving Simelane and ‘multiple risk factors’. This is not the first mental health disaster from Birmingham by a long chalk – the Birmingham that boasts the University of Birmingham Medical School with it’s flagship ‘service user research’, the Birmingham that is living with the legacy of dear old Professor Robert Bluglass CBE, the UK’s leading forensic psychiatrist, until that was he asked for his name to be removed from the Medical Register and he disappeared from his academic posts…

In the face of all this extreme hopelessness, I notice that Stephen Crabb and Jeremy Hunt were making noises this week about paying the Top Doctors and Angels more after holding out for so long! Should Jeremy and Stephen need evidence of just how distressed the Top Doctors are, I recommend that they read a recent post on Rob Poole’s blog. Under normal circumstances I would not recommend anyone to waste their time reading anything by Rob Poole, but he posted up a wonderful piece recently, in which he waxed lyrical about meeting up with his old medical school mates again on a trip to London where they saved the life of someone whom they encountered in the street – this from a man who does not tell his patients who have appointments with him that he can’t make it because he’s off on a jolly to India, so those patients are left sitting on a ward believing that Dr Poole is going to appear for a long awaited consultation at any minute. After their heroics they all got talking over a few drinks (Rob is supposed to have a research interest in alcohol abuse no less) and Rob was reminded of their days in St Georges Medical School bar (start your career as you mean to go on Rob – in the bar) when they were all so bright eyed and bushy tailed. Rob looks at them now and is gobsmacked by how many of them are jaded and disillusioned and indeed have retired! As Rob explains they have retired to go sailing, to go on round the world trips, luxury holidays…. Cos it’s all just been so hard…Rob’s blog has taken on the quality of Jeffrey Archer’s writings after he was imprisoned when he would say things like ‘Are you listening Home Secretary?’ as he recounted the terrible conditions in whichever prison that they banged him up in – only Rob is appealing to the Labour Party to save the Top Docs and ensure that they continue to trouser £100k pa as the absolute basic.

To return to Stephen and Jeremy – they are obviously worried that Theresa is going to crumble and that the other Jeremy is in danger of entering Number 10. However since Crabb and Hunt started falling in love with the NHS, Grenfell Tower went up in flames incinerating God knows how many not very well off Londoners who were crammed in there and charged £1,600/month rent and the Tories now have far bigger problems than the ever demanding Top Doctors. Perhaps a bit of that dosh that Hunt and Crabb wanted liberated could be sent in the direction of people really in need and be used to build some decent social housing. Not that it can ever be built fast enough to save Theresa’s neck -today she was reassuring the nation that the survivors from Grenfell Tower will all be rehoused locally. I don’t know how, because the only reason that any of them were prepared to pay so much rent for such poor accommodation is that there is no spare housing at all in London. Except of course for all those empty luxury properties owned by the Russian mafia.

There have been more drug raids in north Wales, class A drugs have been seized in Bangor. It transpires that all these drugs busts are part of Operation Rattle, active in Gwynedd and on Ynys Mon. Oh well CAIS is still a roaring success in controlling the substance abuse problem them.

The shenanigans at Conwy County Council continue. A recent post explained how Gareth Jones from Plaid had done a deal with Chery Carlisle, a Conservative, and a coalition was proposed. It caused an awful lot of trauma among the rest of Plaid who were horrified at the thought of the Council sharing power with the Tories and the arrangement has now been vetoed by the Plaid National Executive. Alun Ffred, Plaid’s Chair, has stated that Plaid will not form a cabinet involving Conservatives. Which is odd, because as my posts giving details of the public servants and politicians who turned a blind eye to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal illustrate, Plaid and the Tories both worked very hard to keep the lid on all that, it could have been described as a symbiotic relationship. A leaked e mail has stated that a Plaid/Tory coalition would have a ‘catastrophic effect’ locally and one Trystan Lewis has already fallen on his sword, resigning from the Cabinet because he fears that his presence has ‘put the party in a difficult position’. I think that Gareth Jones’s presence has put the party in an even more difficult position – not only did he come up with this brainwave for a coalition with the Tories, but long, long ago Gareth knew all about the sexual abuse of children in care in north Wales (please see post ‘It’s A Piece Of Cake’) but his lips have remained firmly buttoned, all through the Waterhouse Inquiry, all through the years that he spent as the AM for Aberconwy…. Because no-one knew about those kids being beaten and raped did they, no-one at all…

Now to matters at Plaid-dominated Gwynedd County Council. They’re featuring in ‘Private Eye’ again. The latest issue supplies details of the generous allowances and payments that the Councillors are receiving, as they cut services and workers pay. It is mentioned that one brave Councillor told them that it appears to the people of Gwynedd that they are lining their pockets at the expense of the citizens. Nonetheless, the Councillors then voted for an increase in their allowances. Gwynedd Councillors and certain employees have enjoyed many perks and privileges that would probably precipitate a council tax strike if they were widely known about and it’s been going on for years – please see post ‘News Round Up, March 24 2017’ for the details of just the scams and fiddles that I knew about. Meanwhile, virtually all the public bogs have been shut down in Gwynedd and the parking charges have almost doubled. This affects local people as well, but it really clobbers tourists, whom the Council maintain that they are trying to encourage. (A lot of the Tourist Info places have been closed as well, which is a rather odd thing to do if you want to encourage tourists.) I’ll be surprised if any tourists return in the face of what is happening. The arguments regarding the closure of the bogs was bizarre. One Councillor some months ago when faced with allegations that this was discriminatory against people with certain health conditions maintained that ‘disabled people’ never take unplanned journeys anyway – she maintained that they always made travel plans that involved strategic bog stops. Try telling that to someone who has Crohn’s Disease, or IBS, or has had prostate surgery – the effect of these conditions is not in the least bit predictable. They certainly won’t dare visit Gwynedd in the future.

The ‘Eye’ has another reference to wales as well. They have named a Cardiff haemophilia specialist, Professor Arthur Bloom, as someone who was putting patients at risk by using them as uninformed ‘guinea pigs’ for blood products of uncertain safety back in the 80s. Bloom had previously worked at the Oxford Haemophilia Centre, then moved to Cardiff, where he became the doctor of a little boy called Colin Smith. Bloom’s experimenting resulted in Colin becoming infected with HIV and hepatitis C and he died at seven years old in 1990. The campaign group ‘Tainted Blood’ have acquired letters written by Bloom which they maintain shows that he was criminally negligent towards haemophiliacs. That man of the people Andy Burnham, in his last Commons speech as an MP, threatened to take the letters to the police if the Gov’t didn’t act, claiming that there needed to be an inquiry as there had been a ‘criminal cover-up on an industrial scale’. Which I’m sure that there was – just like there was in the case of Mid-Staffs. In that case the name of the Minister who refused an inquiry for years despite evidence of criminal conduct and negligence was one Andy Burnham.

The ‘Eye’ also has two mental health failure stories, in this case two seriously mentally ill people killing themselves in prison when they should never have been in prison in the first place. The inquests into Callum Smith and Caroline Hunt both found multiple failures on the part of mental health services and prison staff. Both Callum and Caroline were suicidal and were ‘dealt with’ by being isolated in their cells. They both hung themselves. The coroners in each case wrote to both health authorities and the prison authorities regarding the prevention of further deaths. Which reminds me – the Betsi has by now received quite a few such coroners letters, but they don’t seem to be having much effect. Deborah Coles from ‘Inquest’ described Callum’s and Caroline’s deaths as ‘wholly preventable’, blaming the starvation of the mental health services which has led to a shortage of psychiatric beds and an over-reliance on a prison service that can’t cope. I’m a great admirer of Deborah Coles and have found her to be one of the few people working in the Third sector who is not afraid to be honest about how bad the nation’s mental health services are – note the complete silence of MIND on all these prison deaths of seriously ill people. However I do disagree with Deborah about the cause of this problem – the mental health services have been sending patients to prison now for years, regardless of the state of Gov’t investment in the services. Furthermore the mental health services in north Wales perjured themselves to ensure that patients ended up in prison if those patients had complained about the mental health services or if they were children who’d been abused in care. This is about negligent, criminal mental health staff, not money. As well as the vindictive targeting of certain patients, there has also been a philosophical and political shift, which has resulted in society failing to identify distress and instead demanding that people should ‘take responsibility’, even if their clinical condition precludes them from doing this. The sociologist Loic Wacquant has written extensively about this neoliberal penality and has taken a particular interest in how great swathes of black people in the U.S. have been criminalised and subsequently disenfranchised (actually as a result of legislation passed by Bill Clinton, assisted by that Heroic Role Model to the rest of us with ovaries, Hillary). I believe that in the UK the phenomenon is most obvious among people with mental health problems. When they don’t recover, it’s not because the care and treatment are crap or because they have a long term problem, it’s because they have a Borderline Personality Disorder and they are Untreatable and prison will show ’em. This approach very obviously led to the mortality rate that Tony Roberts presided over but such was the disaster involved that absolutely no-one would admit that this man was decimating patients and the GMC resorted to utilising forged documents to conceal the nightmare (see post ‘The General Medical Council And Yet Another Forged Document’).

The ‘Eye’s’ medical correspondent M.D. aka Dr Phil Hammond, discusses the Gov’ts lame anti-radicalisation programme Prevent. He compares the failure of Prevent with the failures of psychiatry and social work: ‘Every day psychiatrists in understaffed overwhelmed services have to prioritise the suicide risks of those who have only just started self-harming and those who have been doing it for years…social workers overwhelmed by their caseloads have to juggle the risks to abused children’. I’m not quite sure that it works like that Phil. It might now and again, for the few decent committed people trying to do a good job – and there are a few of them. However they are vastly outnumbered by their colleagues who are either punitive or simply don’t give a fuck. If you are a self-harmer you are highly likely to be met with mental health professionals who refuse to assess let alone treat you and as for children’s social services – er, the organised abuse and trafficking of ‘looked after’ children in nearly every region of the UK springs to mind… Interestingly enough Phil goes on to state that ‘some terrorists are doctors whose grievances are overfed by the UK military interventions and foreign policies…citizens must be supported to speak up’. Phil then recommends that Prevent should be widened to ‘encompass speaking up about any serious crime (child abuse, rape, murder, people trafficking, fraud, extremism) using the Crimestoppers model’. Well Phil your colleagues really have given me thirty years of hell – because I discovered that some of them were concealing a paedophile ring. This may have ‘overfed’ my criticisms of psychiatry but I have not yet resorted to locking any of them in a cage and slowly burning them to death, which is what the ISIS doctor did to someone. The ISIS doctor who had previously worked at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd before he went into action with ISIS. As for Crimestoppers – I knew someone in north Wales who repeatedly telephoned Crimestoppers to report a psychiatrist who was involved in the illegal sale and distribution of drugs, in the concealing of child abuse and in the coercion of patients into prostitution. This man also reported the suspicious death of one of this psychiatrist’s patients. Names, dates and details of the offences were given. Nothing happened. So the man rang back a few weeks later to ask why no action had been taken – only to be told that his call had been classified as a hoax. So he gave all the details again. Still nothing happened. At the time that this man was making those calls, the colleagues of that psychiatrist in the social services were being investigated for child abuse and soon after that the Waterhouse Inquiry was held – denounced by many as a massive cover up. The same psychiatrist had been sued for false imprisonment and had been the subject of numerous complaints to the GMC. But no action was taken. Hoax call? I don’t think even Crimestoppers believed that was a hoax call. So there must have been some other reason why no action was taken. Phil Hammond provides many good insights – I remember that he memorably described the London medical schools as being run by ‘fat masons’, which I am told was the prevailing situation at St Georges – but I don’t think that he’s quite grasped the essence of Crimestoppers.

Which brings me onto the Shirley Oaks Survivors Association (SOSA), who also feature in the latest edition of the Eye. SOSA are the group of the former residents of Lambeth Council children’s homes who have walked out of the Independent Inquiry Into Child Sexual Abuse. Just before they walked out, the third Chair of the Inquiry walked out, Judge Lowell Goddard. The ‘Eye’ reveals that the reason that both Judge Goddard and SOSA walked out was because the Home Office was trying to impose it’s own team of officials on Goddard. She rightly pointed out that would not make it an ‘independent’ inquiry. It is very clear that the Gov’t micromanaged the Waterhouse Inquiry and presumably they expect to do the same with the Independent Inquiry. Goddard and SOSA are still in touch and SOSA have published their own report into the happenings at Lambeth which is alleged to focus on the multiple failings of the Home Office. I have been in touch with SOSA but they have told me that their report isn’t available until later this summer due to legal constraints, but they have promised to send me a copy when it’s available. SOSA’s website names many of the paedophiles who were active in the children’s homes, so I asked them if they were going to name any of the councillors or politicians who colluded or covered up the abuse. They have named some councillors in their report but not any politicians. So if anyone wants to find out which politicians were involved – as well as other respectable members of society who believed that they’d actually got away with all this – Service Shenanigans is the site to follow.

Of course, some children from Lambeth were sent to children’s homes in north Wales. I will be posting up more soon about the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal with more names of those involved at all levels.
