The title of this post translates as ‘The Land of the White Gloves’. This refers to the tradition of the Judge wearing white gloves at the Assize Court, but only if there were no criminal cases before him. There is an account of it in a book called ‘Sentenced To Hell’, by J. Richard Williams, about people who were transported from north Wales in the 18th and 19th centuries for staggeringly trivial crimes. On 29 July 1865, the ‘Caernarvon and Denbigh Herald’ proudly reported that the High Sheriff had presented the Judge with a pair of white gloves as a result of there being no criminal cases to try. Everyone ‘rejoiced in the purity of the morals of the people of this county’.
Obviously, that was pre-Dafydd and Lucille.
There is a judge in north Wales who until recently still wore white gloves. Not because he donned them when there were no criminal cases before him – the judge in question will never have found himself short of criminal cases to try, he sentenced me to more than 100 hours of community service because I told Alun Davies’s secretary over the phone that Davies was a fat idiot and when this judge was still a barrister he prosecuted the Rev Emyr Owen from Tywyn for three sexual offence with corpses that were a physiological impossibility. I am of course talking about Judge Huw Morgan Gruffydd Daniel, previous star of this blog.
Huw Daniel wore white gloves when he used to dress up like General Pinochet in his capacity as Lord Lieutenant of Gwynedd – that particular role was his reward for decades of insanity and injustice on the bench as he sentenced the victims of the paedophiles and their friends. Huw retired from that position recently, so presumably the old fool can no longer make an even bigger idiot of himself in fancy dress.
This post provides the names and details of yet more people who assisted the crimes of the paedophiles’ friends in the Land of the White Gloves.
Previous posts such as ‘A Solicitor’s Letter From North East Wales MIND’, ‘Cottaging At Castle Gate’, ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ and ‘The Banality Of Evil’ demonstrate just how very serious the criminality in the mental health services in north Wales was over a period of years and how the solution to patients challenging anyone about this was for the mental health services to resort to yet more serious criminality in an attempt to cover their tracks.
I have described how during the 1980s and 90s the MDU and BMA were complicit with the most serious wrongdoing and were happy to supply advice and legal help to Top Doctors whom they knew were committing serious offences.
Previous posts such as ‘The Sordid Role Of Sir Robert Francis QC’ and ‘The Creme de la Creme’ have named some of those in the MDU who colluded with the serious crime, including Sir Robert Francis, Ann Ball, Dr Ian Sanderson, Sir Patrick Holmes Sellors and Lord Simon Glenarthur.
My documentation showed that the MDU acted for Tony Francis (Dr X) and Dr Dafydd Alun Jones on numerous occasions between 1986 and 1995 – the MDU probably acted for them at other times as well, unbeknown to me.
Let’s look at a few of others involved with MDU during those years whom I have not yet named.
Dr Peter Williams was appointed President of the MDU in 2013 – Williams had been Vice-President for the previous five years and had been involved with the MDU for years previously, as a member of the MDU Board and before then as someone on the MDU Cases and Committee. In an interview when his Presidency was announced, Williams referred to his previous discussions of ‘the complex clinical and medico-legal issues of cases involving our members’ and explained that what really impressed him about the MDU was ‘first, the quality of the people in the MDU, not least their willingness to engage in members’ problems and their care and thoroughness in their dealings with members, and second by the extent to which decision-making is driven by providing good service’.
So Dr Williams, in what way were those lofty ambitions consistent with representing Tony Francis and Dafydd whilst they abused patients, facilitated a sex trafficking ring and perjured themselves in an attempt to have me banged up because I had complained about their misconduct and criminality? Neither do I think that the ‘problems’ which Francis and Dafydd took to you could be described as ‘complex clinical and medico-legal issues’ – you had a great deal of evidence that they were both involved with crime so serious that you should have reported their activities to the police immediately.
Peter Williams began his career as a zoologist after graduating from Cambridge, so it is entirely possible that he had a north Wales connection – UCNW (Bangor University) had a well-known Zoology Dept throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s and a lot of the academics there were Cambridge graduates of the same vintage as Peter Williams. For some reason which is not explained, Williams retrained as a Top Doctor – he undertook a one year MB at Clare College, Cambridge and then trained at UCH.
Williams subsequently went into general practice and spent six years as partner in the James Wigg Practice in Kentish Town. Kentish Town is in the London Borough of Camden. So as a GP in Kentish Town, Peter Williams will have known about the very high suicide rate in the Borough, the dreadful mental health services and the paedophile gang operating there. He will have known about the fuckwittery of the Camden Councillors. One of those was Tessa Jowell, who worked as a child care officer for Lambeth whilst their children’s homes had been infiltrated by paedophiles – in addition Lambeth sent children on placement to the children’s homes in north Wales, where they were abused. Tessa also worked as a psychiatric social worker at the Maudsley, where Dafydd ‘trained’ and where many of the people who concealed his criminality worked. Tony Francis passed through the Institute of Psychiatry, which at the time was attached to the Maudsley. Then there was Tessa’s stint as Deputy Director of MIND whilst MIND was concealing the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophiles, as well as forging links with paedophiles’ rights groups. It is likely that Peter Williams will have known Tessa, she was Chair of the Social Services Committee in Camden (see posts ‘The London Connection’ and ‘Tower Hamlets, Paul Boateng And Tessa Jowell’). Williams will have known of the local MP – Frank Dobson, who had previously been a Camden Councillor as well and was later appointed Health Secretary by Blair. The Dobson who also ignored the criminality of the Top Docs on his doorstep (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part IV’).
After ignoring the abuses inflicted upon the more vulnerable patients of Kentish Town, Peter Williams moved to Oxford to work as a GP there. Barbara Kahan – a Gov’t advisor on children’s social work throughout the 1980s – and her spouse Top Doctor Dr Vladimir Kahan worked in Oxford for years whilst they colluded with the abuse of children (see post ‘Always On The Side Of The Children’). Williams then worked as a GP course organiser in the Thames Deanery, where he promoted family therapy. Williams had pursued an interest in psychological medicine in general practice for some time.
So Peter Williams undoubtedly knew about the sexual abuse of children by organised gangs and may well have been one of those family therapists who maintained that the abusers of the kids that he was seeing were always the families of the children – which is an awful lot easier than admitting that the NHS is facilitating paedophile gangs.
Williams was approached by a friend who was a clinical negligence defence solicitor who asked if Williams would be interested in writing medico-legal reports. Williams remembered that his ‘very first case ended up in court, which is really quite rare’. By the time that Peter Williams was advising Tony Francis and Dafydd, he knew exactly how to keep cases out of court – perjury, forgery, unlawfully imprisoning patients, nothing was off limits to keep Top Doctors out of trouble.
Whether Peter Williams ended up as President of the MDU as a result of his excellent defence of Dafydd and Francis or whether he crawled to the top by silently blackmailing people using his knowledge of the very great wrongdoing of Dafydd, Francis and their associates I do not know.
Peter Williams might like to remind himself of the following which at present appears on the MDU website:
The Medical Defence Union Ltd Anti-slavery and human trafficking statement:
The Modern Slavery Act (2015) (the Act) requires any commercial organisation which supplies goods or services, carries on business in the United Kingdom, and has a total turnover above a specified level, to publish an annual slavery and human trafficking statement.
This statement relates to actions and activities undertaken during the financial year 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016 to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in our business or in our supply chain.
The Medical Defence Union Ltd (MDU) is a not-for-profit mutual company limited by guarantee, based in the UK. Its activities include the discretionary provision, in accordance with its memorandum and articles of association, of indemnity and medico-legal and dento-legal services for its members. The MDU represents members’ medico-legal interests by informing and thereby influencing the government and other bodies on matters relating to healthcare law and the regulatory environment with a view to ensuring that any changes in these areas are equitable and fair…
Policies in relation to slavery and human trafficking
The MDU has a zero-tolerance approach to slavery and human trafficking in its business and supply chains. It is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all its business dealings and relationships. Whilst working on a stand-alone anti-modern slavery and human trafficking policy, we have long-established procedures to conduct checks to ensure that staff can legally work in the UK. We also have procedures providing appropriate protection for staff reporting concerns about non-compliance with laws, regulations and codes of practice relevant to our business.
Due diligence process in relation to slavery and human trafficking in the MDU business and supply chains, and steps to manage the modern slavery risk
Overall, the MDU’s risks related to Modern Slavery Act compliance have been assessed as low. Nevertheless, we have put in place, and begun to apply, a system to identify risk of slavery and human trafficking in the existing supply chain which takes into consideration factors such as sector, geographical location, and materiality. In some cases, we have asked suppliers to provide information about their own employment and supplier management practices. We also seek follow-up information when this appears necessary or justified….
Dr Christine Tomkins
It’s splendid isn’t it?
In 2016 The Telegraph reported that Dr Christine Tomkins, Chief Executive of the MDU, received remuneration of £926,000 in 2015, including benefits.
Nearly £1 million quid – for keeping Dafydd out of court.
In 2014 the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland (MDDUS) paid £786,000 to the then Chief Executive Prof Gordon Dickson. Gordon Dickson is the brother of Niall Dickson who was Chief Exec of the GMC, 2010-16. I wrote to Niall Dickson repeatedly whilst he was in that post, telling him of the extreme threats and harassment that I was receiving from some of the people whom he was paid to ‘regulate’ and outlining some of their crimes. My correspondence was ignored.
An online MDU article in 2015 featured Professor Parveen Kumar, President of the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund (RMBF), discussing the issues facing ‘doctors in distress’ and how the MDU and the RMBF can help such Top Doctors. The RMBF is based in Wimbledon, which is a popular residential area for the better paid/senior staff of St George’s Hospital Medical School – many of whom for years concealed the abuse of children and mental health patients – including the criminality in north Wales – as well as serious drugs offences (see posts ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London…’ and ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’).
Parveen Kumar is Professor of Medicine and Education at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. In 2001 Prof Sir Nicholas Wright was appointed Warden of that institution. Nick Wright presided over misconduct and research fraud at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School/Hammersmith Hospital for many happy years (see posts ‘A Cause Close To Our Hearts’ and ‘I Don’t Believe It!’). Kumar worked in the NHS for over 40 years as a consultant gastroenterologist and physician at Barts and the London Hospital and the Homerton University Hospital. Kumar was the President of the BMA in 2006 and was Vice President of the Royal College of Physicians, 2003-05.
Kumar was a founding non-executive Director of National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and Chaired the BUPA Foundation Charity for Research until 2013. NICE is a deeply incestuous compromised organisation. My post ‘An Expert On The Betsi Board!’ mentioned that Professor Jo Rycroft-Malone – who sits on the disaster which is the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board – is Chair of the NICE Implementation Strategy Group. One of the ‘interventions’ which has been enthusiastically embraced by NICE is MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy), which was based on a research fraud carried out by Professor Mark Williams when he worked in Bangor with the paedophiles’ friends in the late 1980s (see post ‘The Biggest Expert Of The Lot’). Jo Rycroft-Malone has received funding for research into MBCT and has co-authored with members of Williams’s network…
Parveen Kumar is a Trustee of British Youth Opera.
The really great thing about being a ‘doctor in distress’ is that as long as you are not in distress as a result of having had your career wrecked because you have blown the whistle on patient harm, there’s plenty of help. If Peter Williams and Parveen Kumar are not sufficient to meet your needs, in north Wales there is the ‘sick doctors service’, which was – and might still be – run by Dr M. Devakumar, one of the Hergest Unit’s self-styled ‘BMA psychiatrists’ who assisted in the numerous attempts to have me banged up on the basis of rumour and perjury. High points of Devakumar’s career included telling me that Dafydd’s criminality was not a matter for the police, it was a ‘civil matter’ – which was why no-one was going to act on my complaints – and rolling up his sleeves in a ward round and telling another patient that he’d fight them whenever they wanted. Presumably that was a civil matter not a criminal one as well.
Devakumar loathed the abusive Arfon Community Mental Health Team and refused to work with them which resulted in him gaining a cult following among the other CMHTs, who all also loathed the Arfon Team. When Devakumar retired some years ago he made a blistering attack on the Arfon Team at his retirement do – some of them were in attendance. Devakumar stated that he ‘hated’ them and the one good thing about retiring was that he wouldn’t have to encounter them again. Devakumar may have despised the bastards but he could have got rid of them if he had really wanted – by blowing the whistle on their abuse of patients. But he didn’t dare – because he was mistreating patients as well and had also lied to protect Dafydd and Francis, who were facilitating the same paedophile gang as the Arfon Team were.
Although Devakumar retired, he returned after retirement to do locum work. Furthermore I think that he moved house to live over near Denbigh. At the scene of the crimes as it were. Devakumar wasn’t alone in returning after retirement. All the paedophiles’ friends returned in some form after retirement. Dafydd just carried on business as usual; Dr Peter Higson retired as CEO of HIW (Health Inspectorate Wales) when it was branded as not being fit for purpose after he’d been CEO for many years and then he turned up as Chair of the Betsi Board; Sadie Francis (Tony Francis’s wife) popped up as a member of the Community Health Council (‘the patients watchdog/ voice’); Keith Fearns – the leader of the Arfon CMHT – returned, was finally sacked for neglecting patients and then set up in business as a CBT therapist. The only one who retired and didn’t return was Tony Francis and that was because he killed himself and even a paedophiles’ friend would have difficulty returning to inflict damage after they are dead. Although Dafydd will probably manage it.
Documentation in my possession demonstrates that the BMA were on tap for the Top Doctors in north Wales particularly from 1988 onward. The BMA were fully aware of the level of malpractice and criminality on the part of their members, yet were happy to pressurise the police to take action against me in the absence of any evidence that I had committed the serious offences of which I was being accused and also conspired with the MDU and Welsh Office to pervert the course of justice.
So who were the big wigs in the BMA during those years when a group of serious criminals received the full support of that organisation?
Sir Christopher Booth was President of the BMA, 1986-87. He was brought up in Yorkshire and attended Sedburgh School. Booth served as a frogman in the Royal Navy from 1942. A Navy doctor encouraged him to study medicine, so Booth enrolled at St Andrews upon demobilisation. He graduated in 1951 and served as a houseman at Dundee before moving to RPMS at Hammersmith Hospital, where he was Professor and Director of the Dept of Medicine, 1966-77. Booth was a gastroenterologist and was a founder of Coeliac UK. He was Director of the MRC Clinical Research Centre at Northwick Park and was also Research Director at the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine. Booth was President of the Royal Society of Medicine, 1988-90.
On one occasion Booth noted that taking the Top Doctors’ pay demand to the then PM, Margaret Thatcher, would be not a red rag to a bull, as a colleague suggested, but ‘a red rag to an old cow’. Yes Thatch and the Top Docs despised each other, but they were all concealing the same very serious crimes – the abuse of children by Westminster and Whitehall figures as well as by other ‘VIPs’ – so their battles constantly ended in stalemate.
Whilst at Hammersmith, Booth ‘graphically described what he would do with the offer of a knighthood’, but had a sudden change of heart in 1983 when he accepted one.
A ward at Hammersmith is named after Booth. Perhaps someone would like to rename that ward now that it has been made public that Booth was directly involved in concealing the crimes of a gang of paedophiles and sex offenders.
Booth married three times. His first marriage was to Dr Lavinia Loughridge, a nephrologist who worked at Hammersmith and then at the Westminster Hospital Medical School. Loughridge was one of the pioneers of kidney transplantation. The Royal College of Physicians ‘Lives of the Fellows’ website mentions that Loughridge had two children with Christopher Booth ‘whom she brought up single-handedly’. Which suggests that Booth dumped her and the kids – although as Loughridge was working as a full time consultant and was busy performing kidney transplants, I suspect that it was probably a nanny or a relative who brought up her children single-handedly. Loughridge was the only female consultant at Westminster Hospital and had to gain entry to the ‘men only’ consultants dining room by eating her sandwiches outside of the door.
Loughridge helped out doctors in distress as well – she was a Director of the RMBF, 1988-04.
After Booth had divested himself of his first wife and their children, he married Professor Soad Tabaqchali. Soad had worked with Christopher Booth at Hammersmith – that was when the shagging had begun. After they married, Soad was obliged to transfer to another hospital – she went to Barts – but I’m not sure why. Although having witnessed the way in which the lunatics at Hammersmith conducted themselves, it wouldn’t surprise me if there was some sort of code of conduct which dictated that married couples were advised not to work together because everything must be beyond suspicion and we can’t have allegations of nepotism. Not that such concerns will have raised their heads amongst the extra-marital shagfest that was a feature of life in that institution, which was how one of the Hammersmith surgeons, Professor Hugh Bentall, managed to have a long standing affair with his secretary, enabling her to do a first degree and a PhD in anatomy and then bag a lecturing job at Hammersmith.
Hugh Bentall’s son Richard is a clinical psychologist who trained at Bangor with Dafydd and the paedophiles, who spent many years working in north Wales and who knew all about the carnage.
Soad Tabaqchali has extensive contacts in Iraq and in 1994 she established the charity Medical Aid for Iraqi Children (MAIC) of which she was Medical Director. In 1998 the Indie reported that since MAIC was founded, Soad had organised the sending of medicines, milk and medical equipment including incubators worth approximately £323,400 to paediatric hospitals all over Iraq. Soad’s charity died a death at about the same time as Saddam Hussein.
I’m glad that Soad found acceptance as well as a husband at Hammersmith, because Hammersmith was not always very welcoming to Iraqi doctors. My post ‘A Cause Close To Our Hearts’ details the naked racism that I witnessed at Hammersmith/RPMS in 1986-87 and also provides an account of the occasion on which Professor Sir Nicholas Wright had a good laugh with his colleagues by terrorising an Iraqi doctor into kissing his shoes and begging forgiveness.
Christopher Booth hung around with Soad long enough for them to have a daughter but Booth was up and off again after that and fell into the arms of Joyce Singleton, who outlasted him – Booth died in 2012.
Booth was President of the BMA not only whilst that organisation supported and protected Top Doctors who were running a paedophile gang, but whilst two of them illegally imprisoned me and whilst Dafydd was locking the victims of the paedophile gang in a dungeon at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh. Furthermore Professor Oliver Brooke, the Professor of Paediatrics at St George’s Hospital Medical School, was imprisoned for the possession of child porn whilst Booth was President of the BMA – and I bet that Brooke had been a member as well. Brooke was a key figure in a pan-European paedophile ring.
Sir David Innes Williams was President of the BMA, 1988-89 – whilst Tony Francis and other paedophiles’ friends were detailing their plans to have me imprisoned in letters to the BMA, as well as having personal meetings with the BMA representative Dr A.H. Chadwick . Tony Francis, Dafydd, Devakumar and Sadie Francis were the ‘four BMA psychiatrists’ who, during this time, were demanding that ‘action be taken’ against me. See post ‘Cottaging At Castle Gate’ for details.
David Innes Williams was educated at Sherborne School and Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He served in the RAMC, 1945-48. Williams became a paediatric urologist and is regarded as the founder of this field. As is de rigueur with the Top Doctors, I suspect that Williams’s early achievements have been exaggerated. His wiki entry tells us that ‘In 1948, Williams was a resident in urology at St Peter’s [St Peter’s Hospital for Stone in London]. A boy was brought to the hospital who was suffering from urinary retention. Williams was shocked to know that not even senior staff in the hospital had any knowledge on how to treat the child. Williams also came to know that there was no literature in the field. Deciding that the field needed to be studied more, he began collaboration for a book with Twistington Higgins, a general surgeon interested in urology.’
If none of Williams’s senior colleagues knew how to treat this young patient AND there was no literature in the field, it is highly unlikely that Williams knew how to treat him either. Williams may well have later become an authority in paediatric urology, but he wasn’t one when he saw his first case. One wonders what happened to that boy, as he was surrounded by clueless Top Doctors – the outcome was probably not positive but Williams’s wiki entry doesn’t flag that bit of the story up.
In 1952 David Innes Williams was appointed to the new position of senior genito-urinary surgeon at the Great Ormond Street Hospital, where he worked until 1978. In 1963 Williams founded the Society for Paediatric Urologists, which blossomed into the international organisation which it is today.
David Innes Williams was Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of London, 1985–87. So he was in post while London University covertly supported Ann Widdecombe and Lady Olga Maitland in their political projects (see post ‘ Doris Karloff – Honest About Her Expenses But Not Much Else’) and he was also in post whilst there was endemic research fraud and misconduct in the University (see post ‘A Cause Close To Our Hearts’) and whilst St George’s employed Oliver Brooke…
David Innes Williams was Chairman of the Council of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, 1982–91 – he was in post when the ICRF was involved in the 1990 Bristol Cancer Centre/Chilvers Report scandal, which involved a former colleague of Tony Francis and resulted in the suicide of Professor Tim McElwain (see posts ‘Reports Of Death Were Greatly Exaggerated’ and ‘Apocalypse Now’).
David Innes Williams was a member of the GMC, 1979-89. During that time, the GMC refused to take any action in response to my complaints about Gwynne the lobotomist and Dafydd. Whilst Williams sat on the GMC, Dafydd illegally imprisoned Mary Wynch for a year and fleeced her of her property (see post ‘The Mary Wynch Case – Details’). The GMC took no action against him. There were also at least five other complaints about Dafydd to the GMC during those years, one of which involved a death. The GMC took no action.
So David Innes Williams, one of the world’s leading specialists in genito-urinary conditions in children, assisted a group of Top Doctors who were facilitating a paedophile ring in their attempts to have me imprisoned in a high security hospital on the basis of nothing but their lies.
David Innes Williams was the son of a Gwynne Evan Owen Williams, a surgeon at UCH. I cannot help but wonder whether David Innes Williams was a relation of Gwynne the lobotomist. David Innes Williams was born in 1919, so was probably about eight or nine years younger than Gwynne the lobotomist. Gwynne the lobotomist spoke Welsh and had an association with Llandudno, but he trained at the Middlesex Hospital rather than Liverpool, which was the favourite option for Top Doctors from north Wales of his generation. David Williams also liked to be called ‘DI’ – Dafydd encouraged people to call him ‘DA’….
A familial connection between Gwynne the lobotomist and one of the people who protected him and the other paedophiles’ friends is not beyond the bounds of possibility…
There is evidence in my documents that Francis had consulted the BMA as soon as I had made my first complaint in the summer of 1985 – furthermore Francis and the other paedophiles’ friends had all been fully paid up members of the BMA for years, so I’ll provide details of a few of the previous BMA Presidents as well.
Lord John Walton was President of the BMA, 1980-82. Walton featured in my post ‘Little Things Hitting Each Other’ – he was as good a friend to Dafydd and the paedophiles as Lord Wyn Roberts was (see post ‘The Cradle Of Filth’), John Walton loyally served them for years. Walton was Mr Medical Establishment in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, which had close links with the paedophile gang in north Wales and provided mental health professionals including Dr Neil Davies and Professor Bob Woods who joined Dafydd’s gang in north Wales (see post ‘The Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Connection?’). Newcastle-Upon-Tyne provided paedophiles to north Wales as well. Matt Arnold and Peter Howarth, the two central figures in the paedophile activity at Bryn Estyn, had previously worked at Axwell Park Approved School in Gateshead where boys had been abused (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III’). The north east of England was the site of the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal, which provided a very useful distraction when the protests from north Wales were getting worryingly loud (see post ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas And The Culprits Were Named’).
John Walton was President of the GMC, 1982-89. Throughout those years when Dafydd and Gwynne were getting away with murder. Literally.
Sir Douglas Black was BMA President 1984-85. Black played a key role in the development of the NHS and authored the 1980 Black Report which linked social inequality with ill health, thus enraging Margaret Thatcher. Black was born in Shetland – as was Normal Lamont, a member of Thatcher’s Gov’t whilst that Gov’t concealed the abuse of children by Sir Peter Morrison and others. Lamont’s father was a Top Doctor on Shetland. Lamont was Chancellor of the Exchequer during the Orkney Satanic Abuse Scandal (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – The Scottish Play’). Black will have known Lamont.
Douglas Black studied at St Andrews and graduated in 1933. In 1946 he began work at Manchester University where he was Professor of Medicine, 1959-77. At Manchester Black worked with Lord Robert Platt, a man who recommended that good doctors should not waste their time practising psychiatry, although Platt’s wife was a psychiatrist.
Manchester University was host to a whole group of Top Doctors who protected Dafydd and Tony Francis for years – Francis had worked at Manchester University immediately before taking up his job in north Wales (see post ‘Ian Brockington’s Mischief’) – including Kenneth Rawnsley (see post ‘The Discovery Of A Whole New Galaxy…’) and Bob Hobson (see post ‘The Mentor’).
In 1974 Douglas Black was appointed as the first Chief Scientist at the DHSS, ‘a job he hated’ and civil service mandarins suppressed his work. Black didn’t seem to have much luck with Gov’ts, no matter what their political hue. In 1977 he was commissioned by Callaghan’s Secretary of State for the DHSS David Ennals to write what became the Black Report. Ennals knew what Dafydd and the paedophiles were doing in north Wales and concealed it whilst he was a Minister in the Home Office, whilst he worked for MIND and whilst he was Secretary of State. Ennals also knew that Dafydd’s mate Dr Jim Birley at the Maudsley was concealing the abuse of children and vulnerable people in Southwark. See posts ‘MIND Are Out For Mental Health – Never For Themselves Of Course’ and ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’.
By the time that the Black Report was completed there had been a change of Gov’t and Thatcher was PM – the Report was actively suppressed by her Gov’t. The Black Report maintained that poorest had the highest rates of ill health and death and argued that this could not be explained solely by income, education, mobility or life style, but was also caused by a lack of a co-ordinated policy ensuring uniform delivery of services.
Top Docs such as Douglas Black and Professor Sir Michael Marmot who have built careers on their ‘interest’ in health inequalities do not ever pay much attention to the institutional discrimination which they and the wider routinely NHS practice – the emphasis is always on the plebs eating junk food or boozing or being too fat or indeed being too badly educated to follow the instructions of the Top Docs (see post ‘Professor Prestigious And His Associates’). Practices by the NHS such as leaving ‘do not resuscitate’ notes in the files of learning disabled people or refusing care and treatment to mental health patients or the over-prescribing of medication go unscrutinised. These practices knock many more years of people’s life spans than consuming crisps or not going to a gym.
Black’s obituary in the Indie observed that Black was noted for his ‘social conscience and egalitarianism’. As did every good egalitarian, Black despised Barbara Castle because she forced private patients out of NHS hospitals, thus ‘depriving them of facilities and forcing doctors to waste time and energy on finding outside facilities’.
Whilst President of the Royal College of Physicians, Black gave evidence for Dr Leonard Arthur, a paediatrician who stood trial in 1981 at Leicester Crown Court after he had allowed a Down’s syndrome baby to die.
Leonard Arthur had ordered nursing staff to provide no care or treatment to the newly born baby with Down’s syndrome. Arthur also prescribed doses of dihydrocodeine. Unsurprisingly the baby died. I can remember this case well and although the prosecution was brought by the anti-abortion group LIFE, the only reason why anyone at all got to hear about the baby’s death was because a nurse who witnessed what had happened was appalled at the deliberate killing of a disabled, but very much alive, baby. At the time that nurse was constructed as an interfering know nothing who was well above her station. These days she would be called a whistleblower.
Leonard Arthur was successfully defended by George Carman QC, the crooked, violent, alcoholic barrister who was friends with criminals and bent coppers and who knew about the north Wales/Cheshire paedophile ring. One of Carman’s pupil barristers at the time was a Tony Blair and another young barrister in his chambers was a Cherie Booth. Cherie spoke of her delight when Arthur was acquitted and stated that ‘justice’ had been done. Would you have wanted him to have treated one of your kids Cherie?
It was whilst he was staying in Leicester for Leonard Arthur’s trial that George Carman had a curious change of mind regarding his future career. He had been getting so fed up with the UK that he was going to take up a position as a judge overseas, but something happened in Leicester that caused him to believe that it would be worthwhile staying in the UK. George’s career subsequently blossomed (see post ‘No Ordinary Methods’).
What could a ruthless crooked barrister who socialised with career criminals and bent lawyers and policeman have possibly found out whilst he kipped in Leicester for a while to make him think that he had a wonderful future in the UK?
When Greville Janner was interviewed by the police in 1991 regarding the sexual abuse of children, Janner’s solicitor David Napley was so certain that Janner would be charged that he retained George Carman, who had built up quite a name for himself since that 1981 visit to Leicester. Charges against Janner were dropped, although the DPP recently admitted that there had been enough evidence to charge him.
Black Chaired the 1984 committee which investigated the leukaemia clusters near Windscale and ‘found the evidence of causation wanting’. Public disbelief re Black’s conclusions were resolved by that time-honoured way of using the scientific principle of changing the name of the thing that has caused such bad PR. Thus Windscale became known as Sellafield. I am only surprised that the same solution was not found to the problem that was Dafydd – the best brains in medicine could have just changed his name to Flopsy Bunny.
Black also investigated healthcare in the Channel Islands and recommended ‘changes in the services’. So Black will have known about the serious abuse of children that had happened there over many years and he will also have known the truth or otherwise re the allegations that Ted Heath was involved.
Black held high office in the GMC which consistently refused to take action against Dafydd, Gwynne the lobotomist and others, as well as in the Medical Protection Society, the other body which, like the MDU, protects Top Doctors no matter how serious their offending.
Black was called in to ‘adjudicate between rival political groups and to help with tricky decisions’. Perhaps to deal with the minefield which was a lunatic in north Wales who, along with his colleagues, facilitated a vicious paedophile gang who’s crimes were so extensive and so serious that a cover-up involving every political party and the highest strata of society was required. One of Black’s obituaries tells us that he was ‘kindness personified’ and ‘would find a consolation prize for those whom he felt had been worsted in various dealings’. Unless of course they were the victims of a paedophile ring who had found themselves in prison or in a high security hospital for daring to talk.
Black was a member of the Athenaeum, along with Jimmy Savile. He will have known about the series of dinners and meetings held at the Athenaeum in the 1980s attended by Savile, civil servants and Gov’t Ministers at which Savile and his mate Alan Franey were offered jobs managing Broadmoor (see post ‘Socio-Political Context Of The North Wales Mental Health Services In The 1980s’).
When Diane Blood was refused permission by the HFEA to use her dead husband’s sperm because it contravened the rules, Black wrote: ‘People banded together are capable of follies and excesses beyond what
the same people, acting as individuals, would perpetrate on other
individuals. Such activities may be termed corporate tyranny…’ In a nutshell Douglas.
Black’s ‘Guardian’ obit stated that ‘he gave short shrift to fuzzy thought or political correctness. On the matter of gender, he was decisive. ‘I abide by the Scottish view that men embrace women’, he would declare with a straight face… you might just hear the chuckle as the door closed’. When they say no they mean yes, as Dafydd will testify.
At Black’s memorial service in 2003, the paedophiles’ friends turned out in force. Guests included Lord John Walton, Sir Donald Acheson (see post ‘Professor Prestigious And His Associates’ for the appalling wrongdoing that Acheson facilitated), Sir Alexander ‘Sandy’ Macara, Sir Henry Yellowlees and Sir Christopher Booth.
Henry Yellowlees was the former Chief Medical Officer whom, Ken Clarke maintained, was primarily interested in ensuring that the right Top Doctors were awarded gongs.
Sandy Macara was Chair of the BMA, 1993-98. Even more of a laugh was Sandy’s position as Chairman of the BMA’s medical ethics committee, 1982-89. So that’s who was giving ‘the BMA psychiatrists’ at Ysbyty Gwynedd advice.
Macara was born in Irvine, Scotland and studied medicine at Glasgow. For most of his career however Macara worked in Bristol. He was initially a local Gov’t medical officer in public health; then between 1963-97, Macara worked in the Dept of Public Health at Bristol University as a lecturer, then as consultant, then as Head of Dept. So Macara will have taught the corrupt GP who was assisting Dafydd and the paedophiles, Dr DGE Wood. Macara did a postgraduate qualification at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Could that perhaps explain why an offer of a place to do an MSc in Medical Microbiology at that institution made to me was unlawfully and inexplicably withdrawn after Wood found out about it?
How are you doing Wood? Are you still popping over to Cyprus to hold clinics for rich ex-pats advertising yourself as a ‘very friendly’ and ‘experienced’ English doctor? What about warning them all that you’re a greedy criminal bastard who’ll do anything for money?
Wood’s old mucker Sandy was consultant to the World Health Organisation for over 20 years and he was President of the National Heart Forum. He was a member of the GMC – of course he was. Sandy was instrumental in achieving a ban on smoking in public places and called for the MMR vaccine to be made compulsory when too many parents exercised their right not to have their children vaccinated. Sandy knew what was good for them! Sandy knew what was for the best on a few other matters as well. He tangled with Thatcher’s Gov’t over the need to keep medical records confidential from the police, the right of girls under 16 to receive confidential contraceptive advice and supplies and how to handle the emergent AIDS epidemic. Sandy’s stance on these matters made the lives of Dafydd and the paedophiles very much easier.
Sandy only became Chair of the BMA after a coup ousted Jeremy Lee-Potter who’s jackboots weren’t big enough for the BMA to be suitably impressed. Like many Top Doctors, Sandy left many people with the impression that he was centre-Labour. He wasn’t. In his 30s Sandy had been active in the Tory Party and had sat on its national committee. What did Sandy spend his time campaigning for when he became Chairman after elbowing out Lee-Potter? Higher pay for Top Doctors of course! Or, as Sandy explained, Patients Will Suffer. Fings Break, as Sandy’s mate Dave Wood will be able to remind us.
One of Sandy’s students at Bristol – as well as Wood – was Sir Liam Donaldson who presided over the disaster that was the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal (see post ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas And The Culprits Were Named’). Blair subsequently appointed Liam Donaldson as Chief Medical Officer for the duration of those difficult years after the Waterhouse Report was published (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part V’) and during his incumbency Liam became noted for his serial cock-ups.
Macara was a Freemason who had connections with the security services.
Sandy picked up his knighthood in 1998, as the Waterhouse Inquiry came to the end of taking evidence from witnesses whilst they were called liars.
Professor Ian Gilmore attended Black’s memorial service. Ian Gilmore is a Professor of Hepatology who was educated at Cambridge and St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School and who subsequently specialised in gastroenterology. Gilmore spent time at the University of California, San Diego, 1979–1980, as an MRC Travelling Fellow and then assumed a consultant post at Royal Liverpool University Hospital. He was made honorary Professor at Dafydd’s alma mater, the University of Liverpool, in 1999. Sir Ian is still at the heart of the Liverpool arm of Dafydd’s empire – he is Chair of Liverpool Health Partners.
In 2001 Gilmore chaired a Royal College of Physicians working party that produced the report ‘Alcohol – can the NHS afford it?’. Obviously Dafydd and the Top Doctors can, which is why so many of them are alcoholics.
In 2010, Sir Ian said that ‘making drugs such as heroin and cocaine legal would ‘drastically’ cut crime and addicts’ health problems’. I’m sure that Dafydd was cheering Gilmore on at the time. Dafydd could sell the stuff legally then instead of distributing it via the ‘peer guides’ of CAIS.
Professor Allyson Pollock turned up to remember Black too. Allyson Pollock supports absolutely any policy which makes Top Doctors even richer and more powerful whilst maintaining that this will be good for the masses. Allyson has done this for her entire career (see post ‘More Summer Reading!’).
Professor Roger Williams was someone else who attended Black’s memorial service. Roger works at King’s College Hospital and was the man who ensured that George Best was prioritised for an NHS liver transplant, although Best continued drinking and broke just about every rule applying to patients on the transplant list. Furthermore, the general public were given the impression that Best had not used the services of the NHS.
Douglas Black’s daughter Theresa is a consultant medical psychotherapist. I wondered if perhaps Theresa had rebelled against her father’s establishment bigotry and hypocrisy, so I was interested when I discovered a short video of Theresa talking about how she became a psychotherapist. Was Theresa overwhelmed by the desire to help people in distress and attracted to the field by the mysteries of the human psyche? Not exactly. Theresa went to university to study French and Russian and discovered that she couldn’t do it. So she went back to mum and dad’s and did basically nothing ‘for months’. She spoke of a ‘crisis of confidence’ which might suggest that Theresa was feeling very bad about her life. So a psychiatrist friend of Theresa’s told her to get up off her bum and do something – they found her a job at the local psychiatric hospital. Theresa remained in the field and became a psychotherapist.
During her interview, Theresa mentions that as a psychotherapist, you notice the times at which somebody discovers something about themselves. I’m wondering at what point Theresa noticed that her mum and dad and one of their friends decided that the only suitable career for a young woman with personal problems was as a therapist to the nutters down the road and how Theresa’s work in this field was no doubt used to keep the lid on the fact that those nutters were being abused and shagged by the Top Doctors who Theresa’s dad was protecting.
In later life Douglas Black lived in Shropshire. Which was the location of the family seat of the unfortunate Ormsby-Gore dynasty, members of which so frequently died in suspicious and unfortunate circumstances (see post ’95 Glorious Years!’), as well as one of John Allen’s children’s homes. Whether the poor sods were clients of Theresa is not revealed. Theresa is at present listed as practising in Wolverhampton. So she’ll be seeing people who’s lives were destroyed by the West Midlands psychiatrists with whom Dafydd and Tony Francis had links and of course people who were framed by the West Midlands Serious Crime Squad. Many children from the West Midlands were sent to children’s homes in north Wales where they were abused, whilst Theresa’s dad ensured that Dafydd and the paedophiles were allowed to continue abusing them.
Lord David Pitt, BMA President, 1985-86. I first challenged Tony Francis over the conduct of the mental health services in the summer of 1985 and my documentation suggests that he probably went to the BMA immediately. So Lord Pitt could well have been at the top when Francis first sought advice regarding the best way of discrediting and framing me. Whether Francis had approached the BMA or not by that time, ‘the BMA psychiatrists’ of north Wales were very used to abusing people by the time that Lord Pitt became their President.
Born in Grenada, Pitt won a scholarship to come to Britain in 1933 to study medicine at Edinburgh University, where he was an active member of Edinburgh University Socialist Society. Pitt witnessed the poverty of the working classes in the slums of Edinburgh and saw similarities to the rural poverty that he witnessed as a child. Nicholas Rea, in the BMJ, said of Pitt: ‘it was in the slums of Edinburgh as much as in the Caribbean that he became convinced of the links between poverty, disadvantage, and ill health’. In 1936, Pitt joined the Labour movement.
Pitt returned to the Caribbean, founded his own practice and in 1943 married Dorothy Alleyne. His ‘passion for social justice continued alongside his medical career’. In 1943, Pitt became a founding member and leader of the West Indian National Party (WINP), a socialist party whose main aim was to deliver political autonomy across the Caribbean. Under Pitt, the party demanded self-government for Trinidad and Tobago. The people of Trinidad and Tobago were granted universal adult suffrage by the British Parliament in 1945. The first elections took place in 1946. WINP and others formed the United Front with Pitt as one of the candidates. He was not successful but he continued his activism and in 1947 led a group of WINP members to Britain to lobby the Attlee Gov’t for Commonwealth status for a Federation of the West Indies.
In 1947, Pitt again travelled to Britain and settled in London and opened a medical practice in the Euston area of London.
In 1959 Pitt stood as the Labour Party candidate for Hampstead. Race was an issue in the campaign and Pitt was defeated by the Tory candidate, Henry Brooke. During the course of the campaign, Pitt received death threats, as did his family – despite the racist abuse, he refused to withdraw from the contest. He subsequently founded the Campaign Against Racial Discrimination.
In 1961, Pitt was elected to the London County Council (LCC) as member for Hackney and served on the LCC and its successor, the GLC, until 1975. He was Deputy Chair of the GLC from 1969-70 and in 1974 Pitt was the first black person to become Chair of the GLC.
Members of the LCC and GLC were complicit with the organised abuse of children throughout the 1960s, 70s and 80s and by the time that Pitt was Chair of the GLC, many London Councils had been sending kids in their care to children’s homes in north Wales for a number of years and had ignored reports that they were being severely abused.
In 1970 Pitt was the Labour candidate for Claphman. This had been seen as a safe Labour seat, yet the Tory Sir William Shelton was elected. During his many years in the Commons, Sir William knew a great deal about the crime and organised child abuse in south London that was being concealed by St George’s Hospital Medical School (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III’). During the 1970 campaign an anonymous leaflet had been distributed with the slogan ‘If you desire a coloured for your neighbour vote Labour. If you are already burdoned [sic] with one vote Tory’.
In 1975, the PM Harold Wilson gave Pitt a peerage. As a member of the Lords, Pitt played a leading role in campaigning for the Race Relations Act and was a leader in the movement against apartheid in South Africa.
Pitt was described as a black radical for suggesting that more ethnic minorities should apply to become police officers, although this angered many in the black community who felt that the police were institutionally racist. Pitt is quoted as having said ‘Some black people regard me as an Uncle Tom, while some whites regard me as a Black Power revolutionary. So I imagine I got it about right’.
Pitt described the Presidency of the BMA as his most valued honour. Not having known David Pitt I do not know whether he was an Uncle Tom or whether he knew that his colleagues were endemically racist elitist bastards who grossly mistreated vulnerable people and that if he wanted a career in medicine in the UK he had to tolerate this. I am however saddened that a man who received death threats for being a black Parliamentary candidate felt that it was his most valued honour to lead an organisation who knew that death threats were being sent to people who challenged a paedophile gang facilitated by members of the BMA and who received protection from the BMA whilst Pitt had the honour of being President. For some of the victims of Dafydd and the paedophiles, death followed the death threats.
Pitt was a GP in Euston so he will have known all about the destitute mental health patients in that area of London as well as the under-aged sex workers, many of whom were kids in care who had been coerced into that line of business by the people ‘looking after’ them. Pitt himself lived in Hampstead. Which was where a number of analysts and therapists who were up to their eye-balls in concealing the organised sexual abuse of vulnerable people located themselves. Marjorie Wallace who fought so valiantly for Dafydd and the paedophiles has lived in Hampstead for years (see post ‘One Dangerous Fucker’).
Dr Jim Birley was a mate of Dafydd’s from the Maudsley who was President of the BMA, 1993-94. Birley kept Dafydd and the paedophile gang in north Wales out of trouble for years and Birley also concealed organised crime and child abuse in south London (see post ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’).
Sir Charles George was President of the BMA, 2004-05. According to Birmingham University’s website Charles George was ‘a true knight of medicine; making a difference to people’s lives’. Birmingham University brims over with pride that Sir Charles is a Birmingham medicine graduate. Their website informs us as to ‘Why he is outstanding’. Lest anybody ever wondered, it is because Sir Charles’ early career – after a series of posts in the West Midlands – included four years at Hammersmith Hospital and then tutoring medicine and clinical pharmacology at RPMS.
After working with that bunch of crooks, in 1973 Sir Charles joined the empire of the paedophiles’ friend the future Chief Medical Officer Sir Donald Acheson, at the University of Southampton (see post ‘Professor Prestigious And His Associates’), where Charles George became Professor of Clinical Pharmacology and served as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine twice. Charles George’s career highlights included acting as Chairman of the GMC’s Education Committee, 1994-99 and as Chair of the BMA’s Board of Science & Education. Sir Charles was Medical Director of the British Heart Foundation (BHF), 1999-04 and was a member of the Gov’ts Scientific Advisory Committee of the Association of Medical Research Charities until 2004. So he knew about the huge research frauds being perpetuated by the CRC, ICRF and CR UK (see posts ‘Oh Lordy, It’s CR UK’, ‘Reports Of Death Were Greatly Exaggerated’ and ‘Apolcalypse Now’).
The Birmingham University website explains that Sir Charles was a native Brummie and credits the University of Birmingham with playing a major role in his life. Sir Charles will have known Birmingham University Top Doctors Professor Robert Bluglass and Professor Ian Brockington who both concealed the wrongdoing of Tony Francis, Dafydd and the paedophiles (see posts ‘Enter Professor Robert Bluglss CBE’ and ‘Ian Brockington’s Mischief’).
Charles George was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science by the University of Leicester in 2007. The University’s website tells us that as Medical Director of BHF, Sir Charles forged strong links with the charity’s twenty five research Chairs in British universities, including the one at Leicester, held by Professor Nilesh Samani.
One former academic boasted about by Leicester University is Blair’s favourite sociologist and inventor of the Third Way, Anthony Giddens, who used one of his appearances on ‘Any Questions’ to tell everyone that women looked up to Diana and saw her as a role model no less. Indeed Anthony, why would some of us fill our pretty little heads with matter written by sociologists rather better than you when we can leaf through glossy mags and read about Di’s adventures and her clothes and the new hairstyle exactly the same as her last one, or indeed want anything else from life other than an arranged unhappy marriage to a very rich man from a dysfunctional family which ends in a crash in a tunnel?
The Leicester University website also advertises the institution’s association with Sir Liam Donaldson.
Dr Kenneth Edwards was Vice-Chancellor of Leicester University, 1987-99 and was also President of the Association of European Universities. Whilst Edwards was VC of Leicester, the institution was keen to do as many favours as possible for the paedophiles’ friends. Leicester University had long been staffed by paedophiles’ friends who were concealing the gang operating in the area (see post ‘Radical Leicester and Some Other Free Radicals), but in the late 1980s everyone started getting very anxious after a number of people named social worker Frank Beck and his associate Greville Janner, the Labour MP for Leicester West, as having molested them when they were kids and a police investigation was launched.
Brown was a PhD student at Leicester University in the late 1980s – he registered for his PhD just before the arrival of Ken Edwards – and was provided with absolutely no facilities at all or indeed supervision, although the ESRC were paying Leicester for these things. Brown didn’t even get so much as a shared desk and computer, so he made an office for himself at home and purchased all his own equipment.
Janet Edwards – Ken’s wife – was Deputy Director of the Centre for Citizenship Studies in the School of Education at Leicester University and at their farewell party recalled how she and Ken had never looked back after arriving in Leicester from Cambridge, where Ken had been Head of the Genetics Department and Secretary General to the Faculties. Janet’s parents lived in Leicester and she and Ken knew the town and University well. In 1999 they retired and returned to Cambridge, although Ken Edwards continued in his role as President of the Association of European Universities.
I cannot help but wonder why a couple of tame paedophiles’ friends were appointed to run Leicester University just when people wouldn’t shut up about Frank Beck and Greville Janner and who then buggered off back to Cambridge in 1999 after Ronnie Waterhouse had insulted those people who told him at the Inquiry that the paedophile gang in north Wales was a massive one with connections to politicians in Westminster as well as to sex traffickers in Europe.
In the same year in which Ken Edwards was appointed VC of Leicester University, one Keith Vaz was elected as MP for Leicester East. The Keith Vaz who had worked as a solicitor for Islington Council whilst a paedophile ring operated in the council’s children’s homes, as a solicitor for the Borough of Richmond-Upon-Thames when they had a problem with the kids in their homes being abused by the staff and other people and who then worked as a solicitor in Leicester in a law centre funded by Leicester City Council whilst that Council ignored the abuse of children in care.
Greville Janner’s father Barnett Janner had held Greville’s seat before him, so Ken’s wife Janet, coming from Leicester, would be well acquainted with the First Family of Politics in Leicester.
The Lord Mayor of Leicester, Councillor Phil Swift, was among those who attended the farewell party for Ken.
Those attending the party were reminded of Dr Edwards’s achievements at Leicester, including the University’s involvement in Common Purpose. Common Purpose is a network of people who make a lot of other people feel rather uncomfortable. The network is rather managerial and is perceived to be associated with Tony Blair and New Labour. Members of Common Purpose tend to pop up in the NHS and universities – Barbara Ghodse runs a Common Purpose group at St George’s Hospital Medical School. Barbara was married to Professor Hamid Ghodse, a psychiatrist at St George’s who knew Tony Francis and colluded with serious crime (see post ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’).
The other achievement of Ken Edwards during his tenure at Leicester was the creation of the Richard Attenborough Centre, although most bits of Leicester University have now been named after one or the other of the Attenboroughs or indeed both of them. Richard and David Attenborough’s dad Frederick was Principal of what was then University College of Leicester, 1932-51 and the University really dines out on that.
David Attenborough is best known for presenting nature programmes – and for Gruff Rhys Jones’s claim that Attenborough won’t actually go 10 yards away from a luxury hotel or a land rover when he’s ‘in the wild’ – but Attenborough was previously a BBC executive so will have been well acquainted with the name Jimmy Savile. Attenborough has a close association with north Wales, he spent a lot of time on Anglesey as a boy. Bangor University gave Attenborough an honorary degree a few years ago and I went to the ceremony. Not because I wanted to see Attenborough, but because Desmond Tutu was being honoured at the same event and I never thought that I would ever have the chance to see Desmond Tutu so I wasn’t going to miss it. Desmond was brilliant, he didn’t pompous on about himself in the usual manner, he thanked the cleaners and the caterers and led a sing song. Attenborough however pompoused and furthermore didn’t appear to know where he was. He kept referring to ‘this wonderful island’, obviously thinking that he was on Anglesey – although he must have noticed that he hadn’t gone across the bridge. It was rather a case of, as people used to joke to Humphrey Lyttelton on ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue’, ‘the visitors have been’…
I don’t know whether Ken Edwards is Welsh or has Welsh connections, but I note that he is a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales, which is a fairly recently formed collection of people who are mostly paedophiles’ friends. Lord K.O. Morgan, the former Principal of Aberystwyth University and VC of the University of Wales whilst those institutions were heaving with paedophiles’ friends, is a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales. Lord Ken was married to the late Jane Morgan, who did her PhD at Leicester University. Jane Morgan came from Wrexham, did her first degree at Aber and worked as a criminologist at Oxford. Jane’s expertise was child victims of crime. She certainly knew a great deal about those. Jane was mates with Prof Dick Hobbs, whose own research interest is in serious organised crime, including among professional people. As well as being mates with lots of criminals, Dick Hobbs is mates with Laurie Taylor – whose son Matthew was Head of Blair’s Policy Unit. See post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’ for the details of Lord Ken and Jane’s network of middle class friends who were just so fascinated with the activities of the likes of Dafydd and the paedophiles whilst they tried to murder the rest of us.
The Medical School at Leicester University was formed in 1973, in a close partnership with the former Leicestershire Health Authority. During the investigation into Frank Beck’s offending and the Leicestershire Child Abuse Scandal it became clear that the local authorities, police, social services and mental health services in Leicester/Leicestershire had all known what was happening throughout the 1970s and 80s, as did many people in Leicester University (see posts ‘ Radical Leicester and Some Other Free Radicals’ and ‘Another Episode Of Friends’).
The Dean of the Medical School in Leicester, 1975-89, was Sir (Later Lord) Robert Kilpatrick, who was also President of the GMC.
In 1987 Dr James Earp, a forensic psychiatrist in Leicester, ignored and concealed the criminality of Dafydd, Tony Francis, Gwynedd Social Services and the paedophiles (see post ‘An Expert From England’).
In 1993 James Earp found himself in hot water regarding the case of James Rudman. James Rudman escaped from a secure unit at the Towers Hospital in Leicester two years after being convicted of the manslaughter of his wife.
At his trial Rudman was ordered to receive psychiatric treatment at the Towers under section 37 of the Mental Health Act after a plea of diminished responsibility was accepted. He had stabbed his wife repeatedly during an argument and Leicester Crown Court had heard evidence from five doctors that he was mentally ill. Section 37 stipulates that a patient not showing fresh signs of mental illness for 28 days after the cessation of medical treatment can remain at liberty.
Mr Justice McCullough, who presided over Rudman’s trial, had intended to impose a five-year sentence but revised his view on hearing that Rudman would not be released from psychiatric care until deemed fit by a medical team regularly reviewing his case. It was suggested he would be detained for at least 18 months.
Rudman had applied to a Tribunal to be released shortly before he escaped, but had been turned down. He absconded during an unsupervised walk in the hospital grounds.
Rudman was actually found in Ireland 62 minutes before the legal loophole would have meant that he would have legally been a free man.
Before Rudman was captured, James Earp had been trundled out to speak to the media. Earp seemed incredibly complacent about the situation when he was told by reporters that if Rudman wasn’t caught soon, it would be legally impossible to return him to the Towers. Earp commented that considering that Rudman had now survived for quite a while after escaping and had successfully evaded the police, he probably didn’t need to be in hospital anyway. Which suggests that Earp had a very narrow understanding of mental distress and a rather cavalier attitude to public safety.
The family of Rudman’s wife maintained that Rudman was an abusive man who had very skilfully manipulated the legal system. I suspect that Rudman had been actively advised and assisted by the corrupt Top Doctors in Leicester – and probably a few corrupt lawyers as well – who had been happily colluding with a paedophile ring for years.
A local MP who spoke about the case was Keith Vaz. Who was of course deeply concerned.
In 1999 as Ken Edwards waved a fond farewell to Leicester University, a new joint medical school which was formed by a partnership between the Universities of Leicester and Warwick was opened. It was explained that the medical school would benefit the citizens of Coventry in particular. The medical students would be trained at Leicester and at the Walsgrave Hospitals NHS Trust in Coventry.
The 1989 cover-up of the criminality of Tony Francis, Dafydd and the paedophiles after I made complaint about them was carried out by Professors Robert Owen, Robert Bluglass and Dr Colin Berry. Colin Berry was a psychiatrist at the Walsgrave Hospital. See post ‘Enter Professor Robert Bluglass CBE’ for details.
The partnership between Leicester and Warwick Universities was dissolved in 2007. In Oct 2008 a new senior member of staff arrived at Leicester – Professor David Wynford-Thomas. He had previously been the Dean at Cardiff University’s School of Medicine. Prof Wynford-Thomas was the new Dean and Head of the College of Medicine, Biological and Psychological Sciences at Leicester University as well as a Pro-Vice Chancellor.
Wynford-Thomas was described as ‘a renowned cancer specialist who has built up a large research team studying the molecular basis of cancer and its clinical applications, with long-term funding from CR UK and the Research Councils. He was instrumental in forging closer collaborative links between cancer research groups working in different departments and schools across Cardiff, culminating in the establishment of a ‘virtual institute’ for cancer research across Wales.’ Wynford-Thomas had been involved in the rotten core at Cardiff for many years – by 1992 he was Head of Pathology there…
Professor Kenneth Rawnsley, the Professor of Psychological Medicine at Cardiff, spent decades concealing the criminality of Dafydd, Francis and the paedophiles. Francis had studied at Cardiff and also worked with Rawnsley after he graduated (see post ‘The Discovery Of A Whole New Galaxy…’). Professor Sir William Asscher was also leading light at Cardiff who was concealing the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the paedophiles. In the 1980s Asscher became Dean and then Principal of St George’s – where he concealed the criminality there, as well as continuing to assist Dafydd et al (see post ‘The Paedophiles’ Friends Of Cardiff North’).
There were very big problems at the Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff for many years but it was, as usual, covered up.
Sir Charles George’s Presidency of the BMA, 2004-05, was said to have been ‘a fitting culmination to a life spent in medicine’. Whilst Sir Charles George was President, the attempt by the Hergest Unit to frame me for ‘threatening to kill’ collapsed. I was instead prosecuted for telling the secretary of Alun Davies, a corrupt NHS manager, that he was a fat idiot. After my trial I discovered that the PNC had been illegally altered – twice – to record an offence of harassment against my name. Also that a certificate of indictment had been forged and was found in the possession of Chester Court, stating that I had pleaded guilty to ‘violent disorder’. See posts ‘Interesting Happenings In The Legal System’, ‘Even More Confusion Regarding Those Legal Conundrums’ and ‘An Update On Those Legal Conundrums’.
Charles George had already received his knighthood by the time that he was BMA President. Like Sandy Macara, Charles picked it up in 1998 – just as the Waterhouse Inquiry had heard the evidence from witnesses whom the Inquiry dismissed as liars.
Sir Terence English was President of the BMA 1995-96 and a member of the GMC, 1983-89. English is a South African-born British cardiac surgeon. He was consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Papworth Hospital and Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, 1973–1995. Terence English was working at Addenbrookes whilst Baroness Jean Trumpington and Lady Mary Archer were involved with that institution (see posts ’95 Glorious Years!’ and ‘Tuppence And His Fragrant Wife’).
After starting a career in mining engineering – he completed a degree in that subject in Johannesburg -Terence English studied medicine at Guy’s Hospital Medical School in London. He embarked upon a career in cardiac surgery and went on to lead the team that performed Britain’s first successful heart transplant in Aug 1979 at Papworth and soon established it as one of Europe’s leading heart-lung transplant programmes.
The Dept of Health imposed a moratorium on heart transplants in 1977 and refused to fund Terence English’s plans for transplants. However, English obtained permission from the Chairman of Cambridge Health Authority to use his facilities at Papworth for two transplants and after the first failed in January 1979 the second in August 1979 – on patient Keith Castle – was successful. After failing to get funding from the Transplant Advisory Panel, English obtained support for the first two transplants from the Area Health Authority and then funding from the Cambridge millionaire David Robinson. Other sources followed until 1985 when the DoH provided secure funding for both transplant units at Papworth and Harefield Hospital.
I suspect I know how Thatcher’s Gov’t was persuaded to drop their opposition to English’s work and stump up the cash. It will have involved someone whispering the name Dafydd.
I wish I’d known that this was how UK society operated, I too could have knocked on the door of Number 10 and when Thatch answered said ‘we need to talk about Dafydd’. I’d be President of the World by now.
Terence English was Director of the British Heart Foundation Transplant Research Unit at Papworth (1980–1998).
English was President of the Royal College of Surgeons, 1989–92, Master of St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, 1993–2000 and a member of the GMC, 1983-89. So English was yet another person who ignored the complaints flooding in re Dafydd and Gwynne.
English was the President of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, 1984-85 and Deputy Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire, 1994-2001.
In 1981, English was elected to the Royal College of Surgeons Council and in 1989 he became President. Some of his achievements as President of RCS included:
- Re-establishing the College’s international programme with visits to Thailand and Malaysia/Singapore and then Pakistan and India.
- Playing a key role in avoiding a split between the BMA and the Royal Colleges.
- Being responsible for Presidents of the surgical specialist associations becoming invited members of the RCS Council.
- Implementing the ‘English Clause‘ during the 1991 New Deal for Junior Doctors Hours, which allowed surgical trainees to work beyond the stipulated 72 hours providing this was voluntary and they were not under pressure to do this.
- Involvement in the NHS Reform Bill and resistance to managerial bureaucracy.
- Insisted on including the BMA in the Clinical Services Advisory Group (CSAG). Proposals to radically reform the NHS by the Conservative Gov’t in 1990 had planned to exclude the BMA. English played a key role by refusing to co-operate with the CSAG unless the Joint Consultants Committee Chairman, Dr Tony Grabham, was a member. Ken Clarke hated Tony Grabham so much that he gave Grabham a special mention in his autobiography.
The Joint Consultants Committee were responsible for appointing the ‘independent’ investigators under the NHS complaints procedure which was in place when I made complaint about Dafydd and the paedophiles in 1987. It was the Joint Consultants Committee who appointed Bluglass and Berry to ‘investigate’ my complaint.
Terence English was also a Member of the Audit Commission 1993–1998, Chief Medical Advisor to BUPA, 1992–99 and a Member of Council, Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, 1995–2009.
Terence English’s second wife is Judith – they married in 2002. She became Principal of St Hilda’s College, Oxford.
Terence English remained active after retiring and has participated in the trauma care training of doctors in Pakistan and Gaza; regular visits to Gaza on medical projects and assisting with the treatment of Gaza’s wounded; and supporting the legalisation of physician assisted dying as Patron for ‘Dignity in Dying’.
Terence was knighted in 1991. The year that me and three of my friends who knew what happened to me at the hands of Dafydd and the paedophiles and who were in danger of supplying credible witness accounts had our careers ruined. 1991 was the year in which charges of child sexual abuse against Greville Janner were dropped by the CPS. The DPP subsequently admitted that they could not provide a reason for this in the face of the evidence against him.
David Haslam was President of the BMA, 2011-12. Haslam is another product of Birmingham University and was formerly a GP in Cambridgeshire. He was Chair (2001-04) and then President (2006-09) of the Royal College of General Practitioners. DGE Wood held office in the Royal College of General Practitioners for years, including as Treasurer.
Haslam is Chair of NICE.
The hideous Baroness Sheila Hollins followed Haslam as BMA President. Hollins spent many enjoyable years working as a Consultant Psychiatrist at St George’s Hospital Medical School and the associated mental health unit Springfield Hospital whilst the staff of those institutions concealed and colluded with serious crime, including the organised abuse of children and the criminality of Dafydd and the paedophiles in north Wales (see posts ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London…’ and ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’). For more info on Baroness Sheila, see posts ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part V’ and ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’. A lot of info about Sheila has disappeared from other internet sites since I began writing this blog.
Dr John Marks was Chairman of the BMA, 1984-90. John Marks was locked in battle with Thatcher’s Gov’t throughout this time and was the man who spearheaded the hate campaign against Ken Clarke. John Marks and Ken Clarke were both concealing the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophile gang in north Wales and they both knew that Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, had some knowledge of what was going on – Grosvenor was President of the City of Chester Conservative Association whilst Sir Peter Morrison was their MP. Morrison molesting children was openly talked about in the Conservative Association (see post ‘It’s The Sun Wot Won It’). Boys from Bryn Estyn used to be taken on work placements to the Grosvenor estate – they then refused to return there but wouldn’t explain why.
John Marks’s brother was Professor Vincent Marks, who was head of the cancer research team that I worked with at the University of Surrey in 1988. Both John and Vincent Marks were well aware of the extent of research fraud and wrongdoing in medicine (see posts ‘The BMA At The Root Of Another Mystery?’ and ‘Oh Lordy, It’s CR UK’). John Marks was a barrister as well as a Top Doctor, he could recognise crime when his colleagues were committing it.
The above list of accessories to serious crime is not exhaustive. There is still the MDU to consider who were every bit as, if not more, helpful to Dafydd, Tony Francis and the paedophiles than the BMA and GMC. The BMA bullied Gov’ts and pompoused for Britain, the GMC pompoused as much as the BMA and refused to discipline people who were sexually abusing and killing their patients, but it was the MDU who agreed to conspire to pervert the course of justice with them.
Leading lights in the MDU whilst the MDU supplied lawyers to Tony Francis and Dafydd who knew that Francis and Dafydd were committing perjury and committing other criminal offences included:
John Garfield, who was a consultant neurosurgeon, 1968-92. Garfield worked at Atkinson Morley’s Hospital – affiliated to St George’s -and then at Southampton. Garfield contributed to the consultation held by the Nuffield Council on Bioethics in 2010 re consent for organ donation.
Baroness Gloria Hooper, a British lawyer and a Conservative peer. Gloria was educated at La Sainte Union Convent High School, Southampton and at the Royal Ballet School. She has a law degree from Southampton University and also studied at Universidad Central del Ecuador, where she was a Rotary Foundation Fellow. Gloria opened the British School of Quito in Sept 1995.
Hooper was assistant to the Chief Registrar of John Lewis Partnership, 1960–61 and Editor in Current Law of Sweet & Maxwell, Law Publishers between 1961–62. From 1962–67, Gloria was Information Officer to the Winchester City Council and from 1967–72 Assistant Solicitor with Taylor and Humbert. In 1972–73, she was Legal Adviser to Slater Walker France S.A. Between 1974–84, she was partner with Taylor and Humbert (now Taylor, Wessing).
Hooper was the Tory Party’s candidate for Liverpool in the 1979 European Parliament. The seat was thought to be safe Labour, but Hooper won it over Labour’s Terry Harrison, a member of Militant. Hooper was defeated in 1984 in the Merseyside West constituency.
Gloria is also a Member of the Law Society of England and Wales; a Member of the Advisory Board, Polar Research and Policy Initiative; President of the British Educational Suppliers Association; Vice-President of Canning House (Hispanic and Luso Brazilian Council); President of Waste Watch; President of the European Foundation For Heritage Skills; Council Member of the Institute for the Study of the Americas (University of London); President of Good Guy’s Cancer Appeal; President of the Anglo Latin-American Foundation; President of the Friends of Colombia for Social Aid; Trustee, Royal Academy of Dance; Trustee, Centre for Global Energy Studies; Trustee, National Museums and Galleries of Merseyside Development Trust; Trustee/Fellow, Industry and Parliament Trust (and fellow); Trustee, The Tablet; Fellow, Royal Society of Arts; Fellow, Royal Geographical Society.
Gloria bagged her peerage in 1985. As a Roman Catholic with a good knowledge of Liverpool, Gloria will know about the abuse of children at St Vincent’s School and St Aiden’s Community Home which were run by Liverpool Catholic Social Services and will know that some of those doing the abusing had links to the north Wales gang (see post ‘ These Sharks Are Crap As Well’).
It is highly likely that Gloria knows that other high profile Roman Catholic from Liverpool, Cherie Booth, who was mentor to and friends with so many of the lawyers who ignored the organised abuse of children in north Wales, Liverpool and elsewhere.
Between 1999-01, Hooper served as a PPS to Foreign Secretary, William Hague, whilst Sir Ronnie Waterhouse was writing the whitewash after Chairing the Inquiry into the abuse of children in north Wales which Hague had orchestrated whilst he was Welsh Secretary. But then Hooper already knew about Dafydd et al because she has been a Minister in the Dept of Health, 1989-92 as well as in Energy, 1988-89, whilst Sir Peter Morrison was a Minister in that Dept, at the same time as he was molesting children in north Wales and elsewhere (see post ‘These Sharks Are Crap As Well’). Prior to that Hooper was a Minister in Education, 1987-88, whilst kids in special schools and residential schools in north Wales and elsewhere were abused.
Gloria Hooper worked on the Parliamentary Delegation to the Council of Europe.
Dr Alan Horler was ‘a Geordie born and bred and proud of it’. He went to Durham University Medical School. After a period at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, Horler returned to the north east in 1956. In 1962 he was appointed as consultant physician at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Gateshead Hospitals. So he’ll have known the monstrous Lord John Walton and he’ll also have known about the abuse of boys at Axwell Park Approved School in Gateshead whilst Matt Arnold and Peter Howarth worked there before they relocated to Bryn Estyn (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III’).
Alan Horler was primarily interested in haematological disorders. So he will have known that the young men who died of AIDS in the late 80s after shaking hands with Diana were usually rent boys who had been coerced into sex work whilst they were in care (see post ‘Apocalypse Now’) and that was the reason why nearly all of them had no families or visitors except for Di, rather the stigma of being gay – they were witnesses to serious crime and it was to the advantage of many powerful people that they died alone. Perhaps Horler knew exactly which ‘unspecified blood borne infection’ killed Matt Arnold, the former Head of Bryn Estyn, in June 1994, four days before Peter Howarth stood trial for sex offences against boys at Bryn Estyn.
Horler and the MDU went back many years – he was first appointed to the Council of the MDU in Jan 1972. From 1972-94 he served on the Cases Committee and was its Chairman for five years – Horler knew about the long and glorious history of Dafydd then. Horler’s obituary claimed that he enjoyed his work for the MDU and brought ‘simple humanity’ to the ‘problems’ which he encountered. I had no idea that assisting a gang of sex offenders could be so fulfilling, let alone an act of compassion. Horler was President of the MDU, 1988-93 and was Chairman of the Board of Management, 1991-93.
It was said that Horler ‘never failed to interpret a Latin quotation or indeed cite one when appropriate’.
How about this for a Top Doctors motto then – ‘credo quia absurdum est – I believe it because it is absurd’.
Here are a few more gems from Horler’s hagiographies. Horler ‘was much respected as a man of great integrity whose opinion was often sought on non-clinical matters. He was a ‘wise’ man long before the ‘three wise men’ or other mechanisms of dealing with doctors in difficulties were created. He was a man of great charm and had a sense of humour which would often explode into hearty laughter joined by his friends’. I’m glad that the old bastard found so much to laugh at, unlike those in Dafydd’s dungeon at the North Wales Hospital.
‘His obsessional attention to detail may sometimes have caused his junior staff some extra work, but they soon realized the immense benefit his patients derived from it and learned a way of caring and looking after patients which the rapid advance in technology has threatened to destroy. His meticulous clinical notes, carefully written in his distinctive and beautiful handwriting, were a model for all doctors in training.’ I presume that Horler led the way in the forging of the documentation as detailed in my post ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’.
Alan Horler joined the TA following his National Service in the RAMC and rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel – just like Brown’s dad, before Brown’s dad was found dead so suddenly and unexpectedly just after the Waterhouse Inquiry.
Alan Horler was a ‘family man who never allowed his busy professional life to detract from his warm and loving home. He had one daughter and two sons and was a devoted father whose children were a source of both happiness and pride to him’. Horler’s children would not have been sent to live in a children’s home in north Wales or referred to Dafydd should they ever become distressed or develop drug/alcohol problems. That was what happened to other people’s children – usually the children of people who had also had their lives ruined by Dafydd and Gwynne some years previously, not the offspring of Top Doctors.
Professor David Marsden, a consultant neurosurgeon. Marsden is another one of those Top Doctors about whom legends were created, although there was no evidence for the legends. We are told that ‘Whether or not he really danced the samba with Dolly Parton in Rio only four hours before his keynote morning lecture on basal ganglia disease is unimportant’ – so he didn’t then – ‘the fact is that David Marsden’s colleagues believed that it was well within the limits of possibility. He had the physical stamina and the intellectual prowess to do both brilliantly’. Marsden ‘attracted some of the best young neurologists from around the world… if they ever remembered anything after late-night drinks in the Phoenix & Firkin at Denmark Hill…’
The Top Doctors really enjoy telling these sort of stories about each other, to emphasise just how exceptional the subject of the anecdote is or was. Yet exactly the same material is used to discredit patients who might need a bucket of slurry thrown over them. If any of the witnesses at the Waterhouse Inquiry had banged on about dancing the samba with Dolly Parton in Rio and getting so pissed in the Pheonix & Firkin that they couldn’t remember a thing about it, it would have been used as evidence that nothing they said about being abused by paedophiles could be believed.
The Top Docs carry on a bit like Shallow and Silence in Henry IV Part II, who in their dotage reminisce about their youthful excesses and maintain that people at the Inns of Court will still be discussing them. Dafydd encouraged this phenomenon. I was constantly told about how Dafydd parked his Mercedes one day, forgot where he’d parked it, so went out and purchased a new one; how Dafydd had killed more sheep whilst driving around north Wales than anyone else and how Dafydd kept crashing his planes. Was all this taken as evidence that he was a mad, grossly incompetent, dangerous idiot? No – it just demonstrated what a Superman he was.
What a bunch of fawning tosspots surrounded that man.
Marsden trained at St Thomas’ Hospital and at the then National Hospital for Nervous Diseases in Queen Square (now the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery). He was only 34 when he was appointed to the first Chair of neurology at King’s College and the Bethlem Royal Hospitals in Denmark Hill. Thirteen years later, in 1987, he was elected to the premier post of clinical neurology as Professor at the Institute of Neurology in Queen Square.
We are told that ‘establishment connections were never courted by David Marsden’ – of course not, that’s why he was sitting on the MDU, being the old hippy that he was.
Marsden’s ‘driving ambition in science did not prevent him from being an excellent clinician. He had the knack of being able to recognise, often in difficult circumstances, the real needs of the patient, and to appreciate that these might change over time’. I suspect that as in the case of Dafydd and Tony Francis, the ‘real needs’ of those patients might have been whatever was convenient to David Marsden at the time. And when they say no they mean yes.
Marsden ‘was held in the highest esteem by his own patients and received referrals from around the globe’. Which was exactly what unsuspecting patients were told about Dafydd, ‘Europe’s leading forensic psychiatrist’, as featured in the ‘Bangor and Anglesey Mail’ (see post ‘Cottaging At Castle Gate’).
When Marsden moved to Queen Square, ‘his administrative responsibilities soared and his direct involvement in science grew smaller. He hated this. Despite the honours that were heaped upon him, he was never at ease with his establishment position’. It must have been a nightmare for the poor man – all he wanted to do was have a knees-up with Dolly Parton and get pissed down at the Fool & Bladder.
Marsden ‘was blessed with a voice and demeanour that gave him instant advantage in committee work’ – so he intimidated everyone else. ‘He established a new research unit…funded directly by the MRC and was instrumental in helping to establish the Functional Imaging Laboratory in Queen Square.’ This translates as ‘by hook or by crook he extracted the dosh for a machine that goes ping’.
‘At heart, he was a shy man who could only open himself fully to a small number of very close friends. He was shattered by the sudden death from cancer of one of his closest colleagues, Professor Anita Harding, in 1995, and, perhaps because of associated ill-health, never seemed able to recover his old self’.
So Marsden wasn’t a complete bastard, he was just concealing his shyness and was unable to be his true self. And the Krays loved their mum.
There was a nurse at the Hergest Unit who constantly told patients whom Tony Francis had demanded be arrested or towards he had behaved very unacceptably that the problem with Tony Francis was that he cared about the patients too much and it caused him stress. Francis was undoubtedly a very troubled man, but it is highly likely that the reason for his obvious disintegration as the Waterhouse Report neared publication and his suicide after Operation Pallial was launched was because he feared that he could be in a great deal of trouble, rather than because he was losing sleep over the plight of the patients. I actually feel rather sorry for Tony Francis regarding the mess that he got himself into, but I do think that the rest of us should have been warned how dangerous he was and told what he was doing to us without our knowledge, rather than being reassured that he was a caring sharing doctor who was doing his best for everyone.
As for Marsden’s loss, Anita Harding was a neurologist who died of colorectal cancer when she was just 42 – but the NHS is the best in the world! – which was dreadfully sad. But the victims of Dafydd et al were usually dead by the time that they were 30 and often much younger. They never had a go at being a neurologist on a healthy salary with a fulfilling life – they had been battered, raped, locked up and were abused all over again if they complained and they often hung themselves in Risley Remand Centre, where they had been detained after having been framed by their assailants. Marsden was one of many who could have stopped that happening to quite so many people – he didn’t.
But then the lives of the Top Doctors and their friends are worth more than the lives of the rest of us. One student at UCNW was told by DGE Wood in the Student Health Centre before finals that he was ill and might not be able to sit his exams. The young man expressed concern and Wood told him to stop bloody moaning because Wood’s mate had nearly died in an accident at the boatyard the day before. Wood was referring to Stuart Ferraris, a dentist who had been caught in an explosion whilst he was working on his yacht in Dickie’s boatyard in Bangor. Stuart Ferraris’s life had been saved by another Top Doc who was working on his yacht nearby. It was bad, but then so were the deaths of all those young people whom Wood and the sex traffickers targeted. Including my house mate Ann.
CRASH!!! Problem sorted – and Ann didn’t even go out in style on a yacht…You weren’t that sympathetic when Ann was killed were you Wood?
Come to think of it, no-one ever explained WHY there was an explosion in Dickie’s in 1984 just when all those Top Docs were down there…So Wood, why did someone try to blow your mates up?
Prof David Poswillo, an oral-maxillo facial surgeon. David Poswillo worked at the Universities of Adelaide and London. In 1990, he Chaired the Department of Health working party on anaesthesia, sedation and resuscitation in dental practice. The working party was considered necessary because anaesthesia was frequently carried out by dentists working alone, a practice that, every so often, resulted in a patient’s death. Poswillo also Chaired, from 1994-98, the scientific committee on tobacco and health which curbed tobacco advertising and consumption in public places.
Poswillo was a New Zealander but at the age of 36, he took up a Nuffield Fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons in England. The College subsequently offered him a Chair in teratology, a post created for him which was funded by Action for the Crippled Child. Presumably those launching into action on behalf of the crippled child had no idea that Poswillo was assisting a paedophile gang who er, crippled (and killed) their victims. Having expertise in teratology, Poswillo will also have known about all those female mental health patients who were being prescribed sodium valproate although it was known that it caused foetal deformities… Never mind, they were only the babies of Empowered Service Users!
Dafydd’s colleague Dr Neil Davies continued to prescribe sodium valproate to female patients of reproductive age with no warnings at all….
In 1979, Poswillo returned to London to take up the Chair in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at the Royal Dental Hospital. In 1986, this merged with the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals, after which Poswillo remained as Professor and Head of Department until his retirement in 1992.
Poswillo helped launch the Charity, the Facial Surgery Research Foundation – ‘Saving Faces’. A most appropriate name for a charity Chaired by Poswillo.
Poswillo was an executive member of the World Health Organisation Human Task Force.
Readers might have noticed that I have mentioned above that a few of the Top Docs who assisted Dafydd and the paedophiles were gastroenterologists. I have been taking an interest in gastroenterologists, because among my medical records I found a copy of a job application that I’d written back in 1988. Not an application for a job with the paedophiles’ friends of north Wales, but an application for a job with a Professor King as a Research Fellow – on a cancer research project funded by a gastroenterological society. Now how did that get into the hands of the north Wales mental health services?
Now here’s a big cheese who sat on the MDU whilst they were so helpful to Dafydd and Francis – Prof Sir Roland Smith. Smith was an alumnus of both Birmingham and Manchester Universities and he lived in Altrincham, Cheshire, which was the stomping ground of the north Wales/Cheshire paedophile gang. However I doubt that any of Roland Smith’s friends and relations were in any danger from Dafydd, Sir Peter Morrison et al. Roland Smith was the sort of man who would probably have said ‘I own shrinks’.
Roland’s Telegraph obituary described him as someone ‘who made his name as a combative Chairman of House of Fraser, British Aerospace and Manchester United’. Smith literally collected Directorships and corporate Consultancy roles, he had scores of them. He held senior roles at Liverpool University and at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST).
In 1980 Smith was headhunted to be Deputy Chairman of the House of Fraser, which was under takeover siege by Tiny Rowland of Lonrho. Rowland was also a Fraser Director. Smith took over the Chairmanship from the Sir Hugh Fraser (whom Tiny Rowland had first befriended and then all but destroyed) in 1981 and with the backing of City institutions, placed himself in the path of Rowland’s ambitions. Smith told Rowland after a meeting of Fraser shareholders in Nov 1982: ‘If this is your idea of a game, please play it somewhere else in future . . . Get your tanks off my lawn’.
Meanwhile the paedophiles had their tanks on the lawns of so many people a good deal more dispossessed and vulnerable than Tiny Rowland or Roland Rat.
Anyone up for sex with a ten year old whom Lucille Hughes has demanded should be taken into care by the paedophile gang because Dr Dafydd Alun Jones has given his professional opinion that his parents are not fit to look after him? All with the stamp of approval of Roland! Comes Highly Recommended!!! Roll Up Roll Up, It’s The House of Fraser Sale – overpriced ridiculous hats and those boring handbags with the Scottie dog motif on them for the ladies, little boys for Peter Morrison, Norman St John Stevas, Cyril Smith, Greville Janner and God knows who else…The MDU will ensure that business is never stopped.
Roland once said of Tiny Rowland ‘If he has a redeeming feature, I never saw one’. Coming from a man who believed that Dafydd should remain working as a doctor that is a damning statement.
Thatcher’s Gov’t blocked Tiny Rowland’s/Lonrho’s bid for House of Fraser on the grounds of national interest and the then unknown Fayed brothers stepped forward to buy the group for £600 million. Smith was given a relatively free rein to run the business for them and remained as the Chairman until 1986.
How ever was Thatcher’s arm twisted by Roland?
In 1984, Fayed and his brothers purchased a 30% stake in House of Fraser from Tiny Rowland. In 1985, the Fayeds bought the remaining 70% of House of Fraser. Rowland claimed the Fayed brothers had lied about their background and wealth and put pressure on the government to investigate them. A DTI inquiry into the Fayeds was launched. The DTI’s subsequent report was critical, but no action was taken against the Fayeds.
Sir Peter Morrison was the Tory MP for Chester, 1979-92. He was Lord Commissioner of the Treasury, 1979-81; Minister of State for Employment, 1983-85; Minister of State for Trade and Industry, 1985-86…then Deputy Chairman of the Tory Party, 1986-87.
Harrods – The Top People’s Store!
Night in the Ritz anyone?
Roland Smith’s next major appointment was as Chairman of British Aerospace, 1987-91. Whilst there he was credited as the architect of the £150 million take-over of Rover, a bargain-priced deal agreed personally between Smith and the Trade and Industry Secretary Lord David Young, the cost of which was largely recouped by the subsequent sale of Rover’s interest in the Leyland-DAF trucks group. David Young was appointed Secretary of State just months after Morrison left the DTI, although I am sure that Morrison was remembered by his colleagues. As well as by Roland Smith.
The explosions which followed Smith’s Chairmanship of BAe lasted into the 1990s. European Commissioners had previously decided that the company had received illegal subsidies or ‘sweeteners’, amounting to £44 million, which it ordered BAe to repay. This development hurled Smith into a political row with Thatcher’s Gov’t – he emerged victorious but ‘he had made some powerful enemies’. Not that any of them had Roland and his associates arrested for their part in facilitating the serious organised crime with which Dafydd et al were involved, because Roland had the shit on absolutely everyone who had kept quiet about Dafydd. Including Thatcher, who was a personal friend of Sir Peter Morrison.
Thatcher’s desire to keep giving Peter Morrison roles in Gov’t really did render her vulnerable, although sadly the people who were found dead because of this cesspool were former kids in care and mental health patients in north Wales.
Roland Smith masterminded the profitable redevelopment of the Royal Ordnance factories and drove a diversification of the group into property and construction. The strategy came unstuck in the recession: shareholders were disgruntled by falling profits and fellow Directors let it be known that Smith’s dominant personal style no longer commanded their support. Smith resigned in Sept 1991.
1991 – the year of the Great Stuffing Over of a group of young academics and media professionals who had found out about some of what Dafydd and Tony Francis were doing and the year that charges against Greville disappeared.
Roland was knighted in 1991. As was Peter Morrison!
Roland’s obituary writer stated that ‘Smith would chase a new Chairmanship as other men might chase a pretty girl’. Or an underaged boy.
Smith was a member of the Court of the Bank of England, 1991-96.
Smith was Chairman of Manchester United, 1991-2002. Smith had been an ardent Man United fan since his youth.
Keith Fearns, a paedophiles’ friend employed for many years by Gwynedd Social Services, comes from Manchester and was involved in football there as a young man. As an abusive old git in north Wales, Fearns runs a ladies football team, who undertake unlikely activities such as touring Eastern Europe. People have long since wondered what Fearns’s ladies football team is all about – they are known as ‘Fearns’s harem’ and are nearly always trainee social workers or probation officers.
Roland Smith was the son of a Manchester police sergeant, which would have served him well because the Manchester police have been endemically corrupt for generations and loads of them were mates with Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends, even high ranking officers (see post ‘Top Of The Cops’).
Roland’s life was touched by Dafydd et al long before Roland was part of the MDU. In the early 1960s Roland taught Economics at Liverpool University and in 1963 he became Director of the Business School there. Dafydd studied medicine at Liverpool in the late 1950s, Lucille did her social work training there at about the same time and many other paedophiles’ friends trained or worked at Liverpool University, usually as Top Doctors or social workers. Liverpool was a branch of Dafydd’s empire, he had people in Liverpool City Council, in Walton Prison, in Liverpool University and Liverpool Poly/Liverpool John Moores University as well as in all the hospitals there (see posts ‘These Sharks Are Crap As Well’ and ‘In Memoriam – Professor Robert Owen). David Hunt was a paedophiles’ friend who was MP for the Wirral for years (see post ‘The Paedophiles’ Friends Of Cardiff North’) and there were other tame MPs on Merseyside as well, such as Robert Kilroy Silk. Roland will not have been able to miss them.
Among Roland Smith’s first contacts in the corporate world were the leaders of the mining giant Rio Tinto Zinc and it was from them that he learned about large-scale entrepreneurship. Rio Tinto owned Anglesey Aluminium on Anglesey, a major employer throughout the paedophile years. Liz Stables, a pal of Dafydd’s who worked as the nurse at the Student Health Centre in UCNW (Bangor University) along with Wood and Gwynne the lobotomist, had previously been the company nurse at Anglesey Aluminium. Prior to that Liz had been a nurse in the C&A Hospital in Bangor and before that a teacher in Liverpool.
Smith’s tenure as Professor of Marketing at UMIST lasted from 1966-1988, although one student stated that ‘his most outstanding feature as a Professor was that he was never there. Despite him never going to work, UMIST loved Roland Smith and he was Chancellor, 1996-2002. Smith was succeeded as Chancellor by one of his former students, the Chief Executive of Tesco, Sir Terry Leahy.
In 2004 UMIST merged with the Victoria University of Manchester to form Manchester University. Dafydd’s old mate Dr Bob Hobson worked at Manchester Medical School from 1974 (see post ‘The Mentor’) as did Professor Kenneth Rawnsley – another long term umbrella for Dafydd and Tony Francis – before being appointed to a Chair at Cardiff Medical School (see post ‘The Discovery Of A Whole New Galaxy…’). Tony Francis himself worked at Manchester Medical School with Ian Brockington’s team immediately before he relocated to north Wales in the early 1980s (see post ‘Ian Brockington’s Mischief’).
In the 1970s Roland Smith was on the Boards of Barrow Hepburn, Midland Aluminium and Senior Engineering. Among dozens of other corporate involvements, Roland Smith was Chairman of Hepworth plc 1986-87, Readicut International, 1984-96, Temple Bar Investment Trust, 1980-99, P&P, 1988-97 and Kingston Oil & Gas.
In 1992 Roland became Chairman of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference.
Roland’s kind heart led him into charidee work with the NHS a la Jimmy Savile – he was a key member of the committee to raise funds for the Christie Hospital.
Roland and his wife Joan were not blessed with children.
As for people working in north Wales who knew about the serious criminality documented upon my medical notes, the forged documentation as well as the collusion of the GMC, the BMA, the MDU, every statutory agency, Top Doctors in Leicester and London and various bent lawyers and members of the judiciary, one woman who read all the 10,000 documents in my possession making all this crystal clear was Rita Thomas, the ‘litigation officer and claims co-ordinator’ for the North West Wales NHS Trust. The incriminating documentation detailing decades of serious organised crime was arranged in bundles emblazoned with Rita’s name.
Well Rita, what kept you so quiet?
On holiday over Easter, I read an analysis of some of the material in the Mass Observation archive at the University of Sussex. I’ve never got around to visiting the archive myself, so reading extracts is the next best thing. The Mass Observation archive is famous, it is a collection of diaries and personal records which were kept by thousands of people living in post-war Britain as part of a body of work aiming to build up a picture of the nation and its citizens. Among the extracts that I read were accounts written by two women who wrote about their lives in the 1970s and 80s. One worked as a teacher in Lambeth and the other worked as a social worker in Surrey and then Bradford.
The teacher in Lambeth mentioned that ‘the Barnardo’s boys’ in her class were selling sex. One of the boys had shown her a ‘compromising letter’ from an MP whom, the teacher was later told by her colleagues, was ‘untouchable’. The teacher knew that if she raised concerns about what was happening to her pupils she would be sacked by Lambeth Borough Council. This teacher had previously been politically active but had walked away in disgust at the activities of the ‘thugs and criminals’ whom she claimed were running both Lambeth and Haringey Councils. I think that she must have been referring to some of those who are now sitting in the Commons and the Lords…
The teacher made a note on her records that she was very angry after having been told by Sussex University that she had to delete the name of the MP who wrote the letter which she read before her material could be stored in the archive – she was livid at being ‘censored’.
Sussex University is near Brighton, which was where John Allen owned the brothels to which he trafficked the youngsters who were abused whilst in his children’s homes. The firebomb in April 1992 which killed five witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal was chucked into a building in Brighton (see post ‘The Silence Of The Welsh Lambs’).
The social worker featured in the book that I read was a woman from a privileged background who had been troubled as a child who ‘drifted’ into social work as a young adult. The extracts that she wrote only briefly mentioned her work, but concentrated mainly on her interests in humanistic psychology, various therapies of different degrees of whackiness and Eastern philosophies. And the fact that she was having sex with her gardener and handyman which left her feeling very Lady Chatterleyesque. For years this woman worked as a social worker in Bradford – where there was a paedophile ring targeting kids in care. The only observation that the social worker made about her Bradford clients was that they had had ‘such painful relationships’ with the local authorities that they refused further contact with social services. Nonetheless this social worker believed that she was good at ‘communicating with her working class clients’. I think what she meant was that they were battered and sexually assaulted whilst in ‘care’ and that she had them arrested if they complained.
When Jackie Brandt had me prosecuted in 1993 for ‘looking at her in Safeways’, Brandt told the Bangor Magistrates that she had had ‘an unhappy relationship’ with me. Well yes, she had witnessed me being threatened by people who were running a sex trafficking ring, she had unlawfully detained me in a psychiatric ward, refused to respond to complaints about this, had a High Court injunction served on me after I wrote the second letter of complaint and had then perjured herself in an attempt to have me imprisoned (see post ‘Some Big Legal Names Enter The Arena’). I can only wonder whether Jackie was having sex with her gardener throughout it all, just to complete the picture.
A couple of days ago it was reported that the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s bill for staff sick leave is now running into millions because so many staff have developed mental health problems. Just do the usual everyone – give them a few more million and blame it all on the stress caused by violent psych patients attacking Angels. Although where all the mentally ill staff will go for treatment I don’t know – they’re certainly not going to use their own shite, lethal ‘services’. As a (very pleasant) receptionist who worked in the Hergest Unit for years said of the ‘BMA psychiatrists’ after she retired, ‘God I wouldn’t go near any of them if I was ill’.
The ‘Daily Post’ reported yesterday that there has been the death of a patient at Hafan Wen, the detox unit run by Dafydd’s charity CAIS in Wrexham. The police have stated that the death is ‘not suspicious’, but nevertheless an investigation is going on. This is not the first death that there has been at Hafan Wen. CAIS are receiving millions from the Welsh Gov’t – and from a number of English authorities – to provide ‘substance abuse services’. The dead person’s bed will have been filled by someone else by now. The one thing that no-one will do is put a stop to any of this idiocy.
