News Updates, Additional Comments and Observations

We’ve had a temporary reprieve from the squealing of the Top Doctors – presumably the continued bad publicity surrounding Ian Paterson, the rogue surgeon who carried out unnecessary operations for non-existent breast cancers, has taken the wind out of their sails for a few hours. However, the pressure continues from their associates. I have recently reported on the demands from the ‘life sciences industry’ for billions more to be handed over to the NHS – now it’s the turn of a few others to announce the end of the world if the Top Doctors are not given a large amount of dosh very soon. On Saturday the ‘Guardian’ ran an article penned by one Niall Dickson, Chief Exec of the ‘NHS Confederation’. Who are the ‘NHS Confederation’? Well according to their website, they are ‘the authentic voice of NHS leadership’, comprising the ‘NHS Employers Organisation’, who it is claimed are ‘the voice of employers in the NHS, supporting them to put patients first’. This translates as the voice of NHS senior managers – the Peter Higsons, the Martin Jones’s, the Katrina Percys, the ‘senior managers’ at Mid-Staffordshire etc etc ie. that collection of liars and charlatans who have constantly concealed scandals and who never ever resign no matter how many patients die. They do not have a history of ‘putting patients first’. But then neither does Niall Dickson – for a number of years Niall was the Chief Exec of the GMC and received numerous e mails from me regarding the criminal activities of doctors employed in the north Wales mental health service. No, Niall did not investigate – of course I did not know at the time that the GMC themselves presented a forged document purporting to be a letter from me some years earlier when I complained about the dreadful Dr Tony Roberts at the Hergest Unit. (Please see post ‘The General Medical Council And Yet Another Forged Document’.) Niall’s article in the ‘Guardian’ did not touch on forging letters from patients, or on psychiatrists with such high death rates among their patients that they showed up as statistical outliers though. No, Niall banged on at length about the necessity of NHS staff being paid more. Not of course the poorly paid staff, such as the cleaners, porters or healthcare assistants, just the Top Doctors and nurses. Dickson mentioned the crisis in staffing in the mental health services. There is a crisis Dickson because these services are so bad – and are run by people like Higson and Katrina Percy who then appoint ‘clinical directors’ such as Tony Roberts – that absolutely no-one wants to work in them. ‘Pay restraint’ doesn’t enter into the equation. Dysfunction, workplace bullying and having to witness one’s patients being neglected and abused does. Dickson states that ‘parts of the country are finding it almost impossible to entice GPs’. Like north Wales perhaps? I know GPs who wouldn’t work in north Wales but, as with the staffing crisis in the mental health services, that was because they didn’t want to work with negligent, abusive crooks. Furthermore, GPs are paid so well and have such generous pension pots that many of them choose to work only three days a week and retire in their mid-50s – hardly surprising that there’s a ‘shortage’. Of course there was one north Wales GP who waxed lyrical about the crisis in north Wales – one Dr Eamonn Jessup, Chairman of the North Wales Local Medical Committee. He ran a Facebook group entitled ‘higher pay for doctors’ and announced his retirement recently, yet even more recently cropped up in a clinic in Cyprus selling his services, along with another north Wales GP, the dreadful Dr DGE Wood, who coerced me into seeing Gwynne Williams the lobotomist and then spent the next few years telling anyone who would listen that I was ‘dangerous’ and that they mustn’t listen to a word that I said about Gwynne the lobotomist because I really couldn’t be believed. DGE Wood also had a very chummy relationship with Dr Dafydd Alun Jones, he who was concealing and facilitating the north Wales paedophile ring. Along with Jessup, Wood was a leading light in the North Wales Local Medical Committee. The Secretary of the North Wales Local Medical Committee was one Dr Phil White, BMA representative, who at one point mouthed off regularly in the local media. However he went silent for a while after his son was imprisoned for drug dealing. He soon bounced back though and last year appeared in the Daily Post stating that parents who allow their children to become obese should have their children taken into care because they aren’t looking after them properly. Unlike proud dad Phil, who reared a drug dealer. Furthermore, anyone who has ever encountered Phil White will have noticed one thing – that he is absolutely enormous. But then I’ve known for a long time that Phil has a sense of the ridiculous. Many years ago he had a patient who was a rather chaotic 17 year old girl who consumed vast quantities of prescription painkillers. She had a particular affinity for distalgesic and she was also a very heavy drinker. She was obtaining the distalgesic from one Phil White. At the time there was much publicity regarding distalgesic, because there had been a number of deaths of patients who had taken it whilst drinking. Brown’s brother speculated that perhaps Phil White was trying to finish her off: ‘wash ’em down with a couple of whiskies…’ Oh and dear old DGE Wood knew about Phil’s lethal prescribing habits as well… But they all stand together on the Local Medical Committee! To return to the dire warnings from the ‘NHS Confederation’. Perhaps someone else in a ‘leadership role’ with them can be relied upon to be a bit more patient-friendly than Niall Dickson? Such as their Chairman? Their Chairman is a Stephen Dorrell. That’s the Stephen Dorrell who was for many years a Tory MP and who was in 1995, under John Major, appointed the Secretary of State for Health. In 1995 there were requests in the House of Commons for an inquiry into the problems at the Foundation Trust Stafford. An investigation was refused. And look what was revealed some years later… Between 2010 and 2014 Dorrell was Chair of the House of Commons Health Select Committee. In 2012 he was reported to IPSA (Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority) after he arranged to sell his London flat to ‘friends’ who owned a chain of nursing homes and subsequently rented the flat back to Dorrell for £1,400/month (funded by the taxpayer). The Health Select Committee at the time was investigating social care – the chain of nursing homes owned by Dorrell’s ‘friends’ had been criticised by the CQC. The other Committee members did not know of Dorrell’s financial connection. Cameron refused to intervene. In 2014 Dorrell announced his intention to stand down from Parliament to take up a ‘senior role’ with consultants KPMG, ‘supporting their health and public service practice’. For six months he worked both for KPMG and as an MP, whilst KPMG considered bidding for a £1 billion NHS contract. At one point a group of pensioners arrived at Dorrell’s office with a petition signed by more than 2000 people demanding his resignation. The police were called on the grounds that the penioners were ‘trespassing’. In 2016, Dorrell was appointed Chair of healthcare consultant LaingBuisson. Nicky Morgan, that not very bright stooge of Cameron’s who doubled up as ‘Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities’, is on record as saying that Dorrell has been ‘a really important political figure in Leicestershire since 1979’. That’s the Leicestershire that, like north Wales, had a paedophile ring operating in it’s children’s services. The Leicestershire that had another MP, Greville Janner, who, it is now acknowledged, should have stood trial for child abuse. (Of course there is another Leicestershire MP of note, one Keith Vaz. The Keith Vaz that ends up in scandal after scandal, the most recent involving male prostitutes and cocaine, but somehow just bounces back after every resignation.) Dorrell’s role as Secretary of State for Health was taken over by Frank Dobson when Blair was elected in 1997. So the ‘NHS Confederation’ is led by one man with a long track record of ignoring the serious wrongdoing of the Top Doctors and another man who has his nose deep in the trough of privatised healthcare. ‘Putting patients first’ really is not on the radar of either of them.

Dickson is not the only Top Doctors friend to be begging for more dosh for the NHS. Chris Hopson, CEO of ‘NHS Providers’ which ‘represents hospital trusts’ (in England), has stated that the mere £770 million overspend by English NHS Trusts last year – despite an extra £2 billion bailout funding from the Westminster Gov’t – represents ‘genuine success at cutting costs’. Hopson has featured on this blog previously – begging for more money for NHS staff salaries (see post ‘Those Who Care Are Concerned’). Two ‘health thinktanks’ have also joined in. Sally Gainsbury, senior policy analyst at the Nuffield Trust, has commented that ‘£770 million is a very poor measure of how much the NHS is actually overspending by…[it] overspent by significantly more that £770 million’. However both the Nuffield Trust and the Kings Fund maintain that nonetheless the NHS is performing the most magnificent job, is underfunded and Must Be Given More. The present Chief Exec of the Kings Fund is Prof Chris Ham. The former Chief Exec is a Niall Dickson! And the Kings Fund have just jointly published a report on ‘future models of care’ with my old friends the Royal College of Psychiatrists… The Nuffield Trust, like the Kings Fund, is very much part of the medical establishment. I know the Nuffield Trust as a funder of research. Some years ago I and a senior colleague at Bangor University applied to the Nuffield Trust for funding to explore the experiences of mental health patients, including those who had been prosecuted by the NHS. Our bid was peer-reviewed and it came back with many compliments regarding our methodology, our research design and our background knowledge. However we were turned down for funding because ‘it is a great pity that a project claiming to research service users experiences does not contain a service user researcher’. I was named as the person who would be managing the day to day work of the project – but I wasn’t wearing my yellow star… So my senior colleague wrote to the Nuffield Trust explaining my background but commenting that it was intrusive and unethical to expect researchers to provide confidential details concerning their personal medical histories as part of their funding applications. He also observed that the Nuffield Trust seemed to be allocating research funding for reasons other than research-related criteria. He did not receive a reply to his letter. (If any member of the Nuffield Trust is reading this blog: you will now realise that I have more ‘lived experience’ of the mental health services than either Peter Beresford or Rachel Perkins. Furthermore, they have never been harassed, threatened, abused and framed for serious offences by the mental health services. I think that my yellow star is bigger and better than theirs even if I have a habit of not wearing it at all times as required. In the light of this, would you now like to give me some funding?) Just in case Niall Dickson, Chris Hopson, the Nuffield Trust and the Kings Fund weren’t providing enough muscle for the Top Doctors, I noticed that it was also reported that a number of unidentified NHS ‘finance experts’ all maintained that none of the three major political parties manifestos were pledging enough extra money for the NHS during the next Parliament. Not even Jeremy and John McDonnell, who as far as I can see have promised to give the NHS everything, including the shirts off their backs.

Now for a bit of news from north Wales. Daily Post online excitedly reported that a Zoe Davies of Wrexham has been given a community award from the esteemed Arfon Jones, North Wales’s Police and Crime Commissioner. It was explained that Zoe, 39, is a former drug addict but has been clean for two years. Zoe started using cannabis and ecstasy at 13, sold LSD at 14 (Zoe maintains that this wasn’t very profitable, she only made enough to buy more drugs), was onto methadone reefers at 17 and also ‘got really good at blagging doctors for prescription drugs’ and was an addict at 18. She explained that the doctors in the Wrexham area stopped prescribing methadone but because she was addicted she experienced serious withdrawal symptoms. She moved away from Wrexham believing that would enable her to move away from drugs, but although she was away from north Wales she still ended up in prison for dealing, once in 2008 and again in 2013. Zoe now volunteers with CAIS and works as a healthcare support worker at Hafan Wen ‘detox centre’ in Wrexham. Zoe commented that she wants to ‘repay the people and community of Wrexham’ ‘for all the trouble’ that she caused. I’m not sure that Zoe was the one causing the trouble. Let’s look at this story closely. Zoe, a teenage drug addict, managed to ‘blag’ prescription drugs out of doctors. There was one doctor in north Wales who was notorious for, as one former addict told me, giving you ‘anything that you wanted, anything at all’. That was one Dr Dafydd Alun Jones – Chair of CAIS. CAIS runs the Hafan Wen detox unit. Furthermore, it was Jones who was the mover and the shaker behind the campaign to stop doctors prescribing methadone – Jones was taking patients who had stabilised on methadone off it and loading them up with benzodiazepines instead. Indeed, in the 1990s Jones appeared on ‘The Kane Debates’ boasting about this practice. He was challenged by members of the audience who told him that benzodiazepines were highly addictive but Dafydd robustly defended his prescribing excesses, pompousing away about how ‘the profession’ understands the dangers and has regulated itself. So perhaps Dafydd can explain why in today’s Mail Online there’s a huge feature regarding the enormous numbers of people who have become hooked on benzodiazepines because of irresponsible prescribing by UK medical practitioners and how the BMA are spearheading a campaign to stop this. That would be the BMA that Dafydd and his colleagues were using for free advice and to back them up when they were perjuring themselves in an attempt to have me imprisoned when I complained about Dafydd’s criminal activities. The GMC are involved in the stop the benzodiazepines campaign as well – yes, the same GMC who failed to take any action against Dafydd despite the numerous very serious complaints against him. Regarding Zoe’s failed attempts to get away from the drug scene by moving to another region – this is standard advice given to people with drug problems. It is the advice given to the people from Liverpool with drug problems and it is why they are encouraged to move to north Wales – as Dafydd well knows, because some of those people end up as his patients. I note that Zoe tried selling drugs when she was young but didn’t make much money. She obviously wasn’t linked into the right distribution network then, because I have been told again and again that a lot of the CAIS ‘volunteers’ and ‘peer supporters’ are dealing in drugs and are doing very well out of this. The real winner has to be Dafydd though – CAIS are being paid millions by the Welsh Gov’t (as previously detailed on this blog) for their part in the battle against drugs in north Wales. By the way, a reader recently sent me more info regarding CAIS. Business must be booming, not only have they colonised mid-Wales but they’re now in south Wales as well. The same reader also wondered whether CAIS Chief Exec Clive Wolfendale is about to launch his own enterprise. This reader sent me a link about Clive and his ventures and I notice that before his time with the North Wales Police, Clive was a member of the Greater Manchester Police Force. That was another force alleged to be rife with corruption, the force that ignored the sexual exploitation of hundreds of children by criminal gangs in Rochdale recently, the force that violently assaulted the student demonstrators at Manchester University in 1984, one of the students being threatened and assaulted so seriously that he fled abroad to hide. Furthermore, when I was able to access the details of Elfed Roberts’s Facebook friends because he hadn’t set his privacy settings – Elfed being the former north Wales police officer who left the force under a very big cloud and was subsequently appointed as the Chair of the North West Wales NHS Trust, only to achieve notoriety by demanding that I be arrested because I had pink hair, had called his car a penismobile and he was sick of my complaints – some of them were former officers in the Greater Manchester Police Force. So Clive’s just the sort of man one wants involved with a drug charity then. On a pan-Wales level.

What of the man who presented Zoe with her award, Arfon Jones? Well it transpires that as well as presenting her with the award, he nominated her for it as well. Arfon is of course a regular on this blog, Arfon being the former police officer who used to drive Gordon Anglesea to the venues where he molested children and Arfon being the man whose ‘oversight’ led to Anglesea’s widow receiving 50% of a police pension, even though her husband died in prison a convicted child abuser. Arfon told the Post that Zoe was a ‘beacon of hope’ for the community. Just like Llyr Huws Gruffydd (Plaid) described Dafydd’s mediocre boarding house aka Ty Gwyn nursing home as a ‘beacon of excellence’. The beacon that charged patients more than a thousand a week for a shared room, that told patients to go into Llandudno and buy takeaways for meals, the beacon where patients received no face to face counselling or therapy from Dafydd or anyone else… There’s another person in the photo of Zoe receiving her award – Ann Griffiths, the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales. Ann was ‘nominated’ for this role in July 2016. She trained as a psychiatric social worker! She has lived on Ynys Mon since 1984, when she took up a post as a social worker with a community mental health team. So that would be one of the local CMHTs who were complicit with the criminal activities of Dafydd and his colleagues at Ysbyty Gwynedd and the North Wales Hospital then. Who were banging up people who’d complained about being molested whilst they were residents of children’s homes in north Wales. Ann was later promoted to the position of line manager at Gwynedd County Council. So her manager would have been Lucille Hughes, the Director of Gwynedd Social Services (as well as Dafydd’s mistress), who was later named in the Waterhouse Report as knowing that a paedophile ring was operating in the social services but failing to act on this information. Ann was then team leader in the Arfon Duty Team responsible for the initial assessments and joint investigation of child abuse with the police (it’s just terrifying isn’t it – no wonder so few of the paedophiles were imprisoned until very recently and so many of the witnesses were found dead). Ann then spent 10 years working for NSPCC Cymru! Again her responsibilities related to children who had been abused – presumably whilst in the care of Ann’s previous employer – and she set up the NSPCC Cymru helpline (which was dogged by allegations that callers weren’t being helped…) Since 2002 Ann has been an Independent Social Care Consultant employed in a range of roles across north Wales – again largely concerned with children who’ve been abused… So a social worker employed whilst the paedophile ring was active in the social services was later used to ‘investigate’ the abuse, ‘counsel’ the victims, chair the child protection conferences and was employed in very senior roles in this very abusive ‘service’. Which has still not been cleaned up – I know one social work student who left north Wales as soon as they qualified because they maintained that children in care were still being abused and I know someone who grew up in foster care in north Wales who was violently abused by her foster mother. She ran away from the foster home and called ‘her’ social worker and told him what was happening to her. He drove her to the police station, rang the foster mother, summoned her to the police station and asked the girl ‘would you like to repeat your allegations to your foster mother?’ The girl was then returned to the foster mother. That social worker still works in north Wales as a social worker. The abusive foster mother was rewarded in an honours list for her ‘contribution’ to ‘looked after children’. But Ann Griffiths is now Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner. Furthermore in 2013 Ann was elected as a Plaid Councillor to Anglesey County Council. She has held the shadow portfolio for Social Services and Housing and Planning and was Vice-Chair of the fostering panel. She is currently chairperson of the Planning and Licensing Committee. Anglesey Council has appeared regularly in Private Eye’s ‘Rotten Boroughs’ column and some councillors have been imprisoned. There are constant allegations that the Planning Committee in particular is corrupt and one councillor is alleged to have become a millionaire through dodgy planning deals. In 2015 Ann stood in the general election as the Plaid candidate for Montgomeryshire and in 2016 she was the Plaid candidate for the National Assembly for Wales election. It can only be a matter of time before she joins that Strong Woman on her Independence Journey, Leanne, in the Senedd. ‘Jesus Christ’ as they used to say in Bethesda…

There has been a news report that someone called Matt Johnson is going to be starring in a film to be shot in the Brecon Beacons that will be ‘tackling mental health’. Johnson is described as being an ‘active ambassador for MIND’. The MIND that is colluding with abuse and criminal activity in the mental health services in north Wales and elsewhere and was recently outed on the Disability News Service as intending to bid for Gov’t contracts to assist the Tories in removing welfare benefits from people with mental health problems. Paul Farmer, the CEO of MIND, earns approx. £100,000pa. Other MIND ambassadors include those well-known underprivileged people Stephen Fry, Alistair Campbell and Melvyn Bragg.

A friend told me that they had heard Dr David Healy on Radio 4 and then another friend observed that Healy has positioned himself as a defender of ECT rather than anti-depressants. Which is interesting because there’s been an awful lot in the media recently about how ECT is actually really good and ooh its nothing like ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest’ and a nurse held my hand and it was lovely and I’m really glad that I had it. It may be coincidental but I wonder if David ‘you’ll never take me alive’ Healy has been doing a bit of PR? After all he has good media connections, he may well be gearing up for one of his summer appearances at Hay or somewhere in front of an audience who have no idea of what he has been complicit with at the Hergest Unit and Healy is of course the psychiatrist with responsibility for ECT at the Hergest Unit. I witnessed someone who was being ‘prepared’ for ECT at the Hergest Unit on one occasion – she had experienced it previously and I presume that it wasn’t a beautiful experience with a nurse holding her hand, because she was incredibly distressed, shouting at nurses ‘you’re not going to do that to me again’, tried to run away from them and then tried to hide. Three of them yelled at her ‘right if you won’t walk you’re going in a wheelchair’, picked her up and man-handled her into the said wheelchair and pinned her in there whilst they carted her off. This was a lady of about 70. I bet David Healy isn’t going to tell the Radio 4 listeners about that…

There has been some shock-horror figures released and discussed in the ‘Guardian’ regarding the number of students who are withdrawing from universities because of mental health problems. Brown and I published on this many years ago, but I see that the same problems exist now – students cannot get care and instead of the focus being on an NHS that is seriously letting them down, universities are being blamed. Universities are being told that they must provide more ‘support’ for students. Aren’t the Top Doctors paid to do this? University staff aren’t paid half what the Top Doctors are and anyway they are supposed to be teachers and researchers. Indeed the Top Doctors in north Wales were so bloody hopeless that other mental health professionals were actually advising local people to enrol for courses at the University because the University had a counselling service and counselling wasn’t available from the NHS mental health services. Furthermore I knew a number of students who were just completely unable to access any mental healthcare at all – they all told me that their tutors had been far more supportive to them than the bunch of thugs that constituted the Arfon Community Mental Health Team or the psychiatrists who refused to see them, telling them to ‘go home’ (ie. back to their parents) if they were ill. One of my friends is a retired academic and she told me that she regularly took distressed suicidal students to Ysbyty Gwynedd A&E for assessments, only to be kept waiting for hours and told ‘take them back to their parents, if they’re students we won’t treat them’. I knew of one member of staff who was allowing two seriously depressed students to stay over at her place on the grounds that she was not going to stand by and watch them kill themselves. The same member of staff told me that she had contacted the dreadful Keith Fearns, ‘leader’ of the Arfon Team, to tell him that one of ‘his’ clients was threatening to kill himself by jumping off the Menai Bridge, only to be told by Fearns to let him go on and do it then and that if ‘the little bastard’ bothered Fearns again, Fearns would section him. How on earth has anyone got the temerity to suggest that the deficit lies with universities when ‘mental health professionals’ behave like this? There are even some people making noises about the possibility of suing universities for lack of a duty of care – surely it is the NHS that has a duty of care? In my own case, whilst I was doing my PhD, my supervisor and his wife very kindly did what the mental health services were being paid to do but refused to – throughout my PhD they flatly refused to treat me, threatened and abused me when they saw me around the town and rang my supervisor and other members of staff to tell them that I was ‘dangerous’. And of course tried to frame me for a serious crime, only for the case to collapse when it became evidence that a number of ‘mental health professionals’ had committed perjury. Believe me, the problem of students being unable to get support for mental health problems does not lie with the universities.

Mail online reported that a nurse from Scotland confronted Nicola Sturgeon and told her that she was having to use foodbanks. There was then an accusation that the nurse in question was a Tory plant, which was robustly denied. Sturgeon apologised and ‘paid tribute’ to hard-working NHS staff. Photos were then found online of the nurse knocking back champagne and enjoying herself on holiday in New York. Of course if Nicola really wants to know what goes on in the Scottish NHS, instead of relying on nurses telling tall stories during an election campaign, she could just pay a visit to Parkhead Hospital in Glasgow, where I had the misfortune to spend a few weeks about three years ago, after a neurological problem was misdiagnosed. I was assaulted by nurses myself and witnessed this happening to other patients. Staff regularly swore at and insulted the patients. There were patients who had been sectioned there for months who didn’t even have a change of clothes. Myself and another patient caught staff altering drug sheets and stealing drugs – this wasn’t even for their own use, they were selling the drugs to another member of staff from another ward who arrived at about 5am each morning to collect the package. One young male patient was delighted to discover that he could access hard core porn on the ward TV – because someone on the hospital staff had subscribed to those channels and was obviously watching it whilst they were on duty. An elderly lady fell over in a corridor and injured herself whilst the staff looked on – it was other patients who helped her. As ever on such abusive wards, there were two or three staff doing their best – one encouraged me to document everything that I was witnessing and make a formal complaint. I did and there was of course never any investigation. When I finally got out of there I did a bit of research – there had been a number of deaths there, the hospital had been deemed unsafe and had been earmarked for closure some years ago. But somehow Sturgeon just hadn’t got round to that. Whilst I sat in there making field-notes, I watched the Scottish news where Scottish Ministers regularly made an appearance boasting about the fine state of the NHS Scotland. I discovered that one reason why Parkhead was in such a state was that all the resources were going into Southern General, the flagship hospital and neurological centre a few miles away. Southern General is one of the best hospitals in the western world and has had literally billions invested in it. So I thought that I’d find out a bit about it. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the clinical director was one Dr Gwen Jones-Edwards – I recognised that name. She used to work at the Hergest Unit of all places and disappeared in the mid to late 90s. If anyone knows how a mediocre jobbing psychiatrist from a dump like the Hergest Unit whose colleagues were concealing the presence of a paedophile ring ended up ten years later as clinical director of Southern General, please do let me know. It is so improbable that I know that there’ll be a story worth blogging about behind it.

In the aftermath of the terrorist attack yesterday in Manchester, both Andy Burnham and Tessa Jowell were interviewed on the ‘Today’ programme this morning. Burnham was his usual hideous self – but then he was someone who in his capacity an Secretary of State for Health, along with Alan Johnson, ignored 81 requests for an investigation into the very high death rates in Mid-Staffs. Andy had something far more important to think about – he wanted to become Prime Minister… He didn’t make it, so now he’s settled for Mayor of Manchester. Tessa was just wonderful – you could picture her taking the onion out of her pocket, as she put on her special social workers voice and kept referring to ‘loving’ and ‘caring’ for all the people in Manchester, oh and ‘connecting’ with them. She also kept mentioning ‘leadership’ as well for some reason and remembered Ken Livingstone’s wonderful ‘leadership’. That’s the Ken who signed the Early Day Motion to keep Garth Angaharad open, one of Dafydd’s prisons where the kids who were abused in the children’s homes ended up (please see ‘More On Those Who Signed That Early Day Motion’). The man who owned Garth  Angharad, Paul Hett, also owned ‘schools’ and ‘children’s homes’ which were the centre of allegations of cruelty and sexual abuse. Some of the children placed in those homes/schools came from London boroughs. Such as Lambeth – where Ken was a councillor. Tessa also had a connection to Lambeth – she was a children’s care officer there. Lambeth Council have now paid out several million pounds to children in their homes in the 70s and 80s who were abused by paedophile gangs – Lambeth admitted to knowing that the gangs were at work but failed to protect the children. Before working for a council that allowed paedophiles free reign Tessa was a psychiatric social worker. At the Maudsley. Where Dafydd trained! Tessa was also deputy director of MIND. At the same time as MIND was concealing criminal activity in the north Wales mental health services. And now Tessa is in the House of Lords talking about loving and caring. For more information on Tess and her appalling New Labour cronies, please see post ‘The London Connection’. (NB. Tessa – you need to be a bit careful with regard to talking about loving people. Dafydd used to tell his patients that he loved them, but what he meant was that he was sexually exploiting them. And Suzanne Hamlet of Prestwood Homes fame told the patients that she loved them and she was operating a people trafficking business. Of course, MIND knew about both Dafydd and Prestwood.)

News Round Up, May 20 2017

There is great excitement because a machine that goes ping – the first of its kind in the UK – is being assembled in Newport. The machine in question is a proton beam machine at the Rutherford Cancer Centre and the company behind all this is Proton Partners International (PPI). PPI are boasting about this ‘most advanced piece of cancer machinery’ and the Welsh Gov’t have stated that proton beam therapy will be available at the centre for NHS Wales patients within the next year. But as is often the case with machines that go ping whose arrival are heralded in the media, this may not be quite such a step forward as it might seem. Although PPI Chief Exec Mike Moran has stated that it will ‘certainly improve’ clinical outcomes and experience for patients, it is admitted that it is unclear how many patients out of the 500 per year who will be treated will be NHS patients. So not many patients are going to be treated anyway – and no-one has any idea how many of those will be NHS patients from Wales, as opposed to very wealthy patients from across the globe. Furthermore, NHS England is currently building two similar centres in-house, in hospitals in London and Manchester and NHS Wales might refer patients to those centres. PPI are at present building centres in Northumberland, Reading and Liverpool. But here’s the rub – PPI have received 10 million quid from the Welsh Gov’ts Wales Life Sciences Investment Fund. So the Welsh Gov’t have given 10 million quid to assist a company who are going to flog ‘therapy’ for rare cancers to the global elite. Now if you are a member of the global elite who has a spinal tumour that may benefit from proton beam therapy, I’m sure that you will be delighted to give this a go. But should the Welsh Gov’t really have handed over 10 million quid – we are not a wealthy nation – to a company who are going to make vast profits from treating the sort of people who are rarely to be found living in Wales? There is no commitment at all to NHS patients from Wales – and even if some are treated at this centre, NHS Wales will be charged handsomely for their treatment. It is only a few days since I blogged about an appearance on the ‘Today’ programme of an executive from the ‘life sciences’ industry (namely AstraZeneca) who was maintaining that the UK Gov’t needed to invest ‘billions’ in the NHS or these companies would leave the UK. So this is a pretty good deal for such companies – they get millions in start-up funding, they then treat small numbers of private patients for profit and if they do agree to treat even smaller numbers of NHS patients, they will charge the NHS for doing so. Exactly what sort of business model is this?

In the wake of the news that the police have been called in to investigate the deaths of newborns at the Countess of Chester Hospital (where some babies to mothers from Wales are born), Marc Jones, a spokesman for the North Wales Health Alliance, is expressing ‘concern’. The NWHA has featured previously on this blog. This is an organisation spearheaded by a budding Plaid politician, along with a few stragglers from other parties, who remain strangely silent regarding the carnage in the mental health services (and indeed scandals in other parts of the Betsi). They would seem to be a pressure group that was formed in 2013 to prevent the loss of neonatal services from north Wales. These were services that were so bad that – along with the mental health services – they were responsible for the Welsh Gov’t placing the Betsi in special measures. Services that were so dysfunctional that part of the special measures plan was entitled ‘achieving normality’. And of course, before NWHA was formed, there was such a high rate of unexplained mother and baby deaths at Wrexham Maelor that the midwives wanted risk managers called in, but the hospital managers (this was BEFORE the formation of the Betsi) refused to do this because they feared reputational damage. The NWHA are now demanding that the proposed Sub-Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre should be opened ‘as soon as possible’. This is the centre that the Betsi already know that they will have great difficulty staffing – because no-one wants to work in the ‘abnormal’ services in north Wales. The NWHA have made no mention at all of the huge problems that have plagued the services in north Wales for many years – problems that I suspect will be every bit as bad as the problems in Chester, but that are not being publicised. Could this be anything to do with the fact that Phil Banfield, a high profile BMA spokesman, is also an obstetrician in north Wales, at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd? One of the problems in the north Wales maternity services was an obstetrician at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd who was identified as the most ferocious bully who was unable to work with anyone else. That particular Top Doctor has never been named – what’s the betting that they are still in their job? Antoinette Sandbach MP has also pitched into the Countess of Chester row. Antoinette was previously an AM in north Wales. Although Antoinette did speak publicly about her distress regarding the loss of her own baby and the lack of support for parents who lose a child to cot death, I do not remember her uttering a word about the dysfunctional dangerous services in north Wales…

By the way, I was at the public meeting where Mary Burrows, who was then CEO of the Betsi, discussed the Board’s plan to treat neonates outside of north Wales because the care would be safer. (So Mary was well aware of how bloody dangerous the services were in north Wales and wanted to ensure that babies did not continue to die unnecessarily.) An angry mob – who had all arrived by coach and were very obviously being manipulated and co-ordinated by one very aggressive man whom no-one would name but seemed to be some sort of rep from an NHS Union – screamed and hurled threats at Mary, the Chairman Merfyn Jones and Dr Lyndon Miles, the Vice-Chair. No newspaper reported the conduct of this mob and not one of the on-looking politicians even appealed for calm. Mary, Merfyn and Lyndon resigned shortly afterwards. They probably felt that they’d had enough of trying to protect the population of north Wales from mad, dangerous practitioners only to have abuse and threats hurled at them. For further information regarding the excesses of obs and gynae in north Wales please read post ‘The BMA And It’s Ethics’…

The Guardian are reporting that the police are investigating deaths at an Essex mental health unit, the Linden Centre in Chelmsford, where there have been seven suicides by hanging since 2000, despite repeated criticism from the Care Quality Commission regarding the existence of ligature points and other health and safety failings. Yesterday an inquest found that the State failed to protect the life of Richard Wade who died in May 2015. It was judged that he ‘killed himself while the balance of his mind was disturbed’ and that the ‘risk of suicide was not properly and adequately assessed and reviewed. Adequate and appropriate precautions were not taken to manage Richard’s risk of suicide’. In 2015 it was concluded that ‘the Trust’s leadership style did not promote sufficient grip or pace to bring about changes…changes took a long time to implement…’ The Essex police have put out a statement saying that ‘this is in the very initial stages of work, led by the Kent and Essex serious crime directorate, therefore we cannot confirm numbers at this time, nor timescales…’  The Hergest Unit has a far, far worse record than the Linden Centre. I have stated on this blog recently that I have seen signs that there is some sort of major criminal investigation taking place in north Wales but that reporting restrictions are in place. Reporting restrictions of course apply to bloggers as well as journalists. I was recently e mailed by a Court whom I cannot identify informing me that I cannot blog about a certain case or indeed even show anyone the e mail that I received. Wake up those we know and love, I really cannot make it any clearer… (Cue continued deep slumber and snoring from the Bangor and Wrexham areas…)

The Mail online are reporting that the BMA’s Local Medical Committees Conference in Edinburgh have decided to ballot the Top Doctors on whether to close their lists to new patients as a form of industrial action. They’re cross because NHS England’s ‘GP Forward View’ five year plan is only giving them an extra 2.4 billion per annum – according to the Top Doctors this is ‘an inadequate sticking plaster’. Furthermore the Royal College of General Practitioners have stated that appointments ‘needing a translator’ take longer than 10 minutes. I note that this need for a translator has been phrased very carefully – Brown told me some years ago that in the midlands there were examples of translators being needed because it was the doctors who couldn’t speak English…. I think that the Top Doctors have shot themselves in the feet so often now that they’re barely capable of walking (they clearly have been incapable of thinking for quite some time).

The media are still obsessing about the ‘evilness’ of Ian Brady after his recent death and ‘anonymous’ ‘psychiatric nurses’ who ‘cared’ for him at Ashworth have been supplying their insights for the benefit of the rest of us. One of them curiously described the ‘daily miracle’ that treating Brady constituted. The same person stated that they all had to put their feelings about his crimes aside and ‘ensure that he was treated like every other patient’. Brady had been in Ashworth since 1985. Conditions at Ashworth were so grim with violent assaults on patients, murders and the ‘nurses’ belonging to the National Front and intimidating the (few) staff who were trying to improve conditions for patients, that there were two inquiries into Ashworth in the 1990s and many people still feel that it should have been closed down. On one occasion the clinical psychologist responsible for running ‘anger management’ sessions had a punch-up with another member of staff. Female patients who were frequently in Ashworth – not because they had committed crimes but because they had experienced such serious sexual violence that they just constantly injured or tried to kill themselves – complained that they were being abused in this ‘hospital’. A member of staff employed at the North Wales Hospital who violently assaulted patients was transferred to a job at Park Lane, which was one of the hospitals that merged to form Ashworth. A senior nurse from Clwyd Health Authority who was overseeing the horrors at the North Wales Hospital was part of the team who investigated a murder at Ashworth – but then one of the inquiries at Ashworth was led by Professor Robert Bluglass, who had concealed criminal activities at the North Wales Hospital. Things at Ashworth obviously did not improve despite the inquiries and bad publicity – I have previously blogged about a people trafficking scam in north Wales that was inducting female patients from Ashworth into prostitution (please see posts ‘A Very Convenient Arrangement With The Private Sector’ and ‘News Round Up And Crime Report, May 14 2017’). It was therefore interesting to read that a nurse called Tom Mason had commented that ‘we had to give Brady meals. This seemed like a strange thing to do for someone who had done the things that he had done…’ Did they expect to be allowed to starve him to death? His crimes were terrible but forcing victims of sexual violence into prostitution is hardly savoury. Another anonymous ‘nurse’ remembered that in 1994 Brady tried to sue the Express newspaper for publishing false claims that he’d assaulted one of their writers and that they had to arrange the trial. But they observed that the ‘caring machine rolled on’ despite Brady’s ‘complaints and games’. The ‘caring machine’ – staffed by members of the Prison Officers Association who had joined the National Front, who were brawling with each other and beating up the patients….I think that they were playing as many games as Brady. There were also media comments from one Tony Thompson, a ‘national advisor in mental health’ and later ‘director of practice development at Ashworth’. He observed that there was ‘public pressure’ to have Brady ‘contained and guarded’ – of course there was, ‘nurses’ from Ashworth kept writing books and giving stories to the media banging on about how ‘evil’ he was and reminding everyone that he was in Ashworth for torturing and murdering a number of children. Did they really do this in an attempt to campaign for his release? Tony Thompson is now listed on LinkedIn as running a ‘consultancy’ ‘advising’ on matters such as homicides in the NHS – having failed to achieve change at Ashworth I’m sure that the NHS will be delighted to hire his ‘expertise’… Another feature attributed Brady’s crimes to the ‘permissive society’ no less (I think that the world has just returned to the 1960s without me noticing). That will be the society that Dafydd was complaining about (please see post ‘A Serious Moral Collapse’) as he recommended learning Bible verses in Welsh – whilst he and Lucille facilitated the activities of a paedophile ring. Or the society that so upset Huw Daniel – as he led the prosecution against the gay Minister Rev Emyr Owen who was framed for a crime that could not possibly have been committed (‘Updates, Common Themes And News, May 5 2017). He’s a No Nonsense Judge! Or the society that upset the scores of lawyers, judges and politicians who have been named on this blog as turning a bling eye to or even concealing the same vicious paedophile ring that Dafydd and Lucille facilitated. Not that there WAS a permissive society when Brady committed his crimes – Gwynne the lobotomist was still busy in the North Wales Hospital, which contained women who had been banged up in there for becoming pregnant outside of marriage whilst Dafydd shagged them. And that was still going on when Dafydd imprisoned me there illegally in 1986. It’s all a bit reminiscent of Mary Whitehouse maintaining that she kept seeing pornography on the BBC in the 60s and early 70s. She was obviously watching a different BBC to the rest of us, all we saw was racist and sexist comedy programmes.

A recent post of mine discussed the links between the concealing of the criminal activities at the North Wales Hospital and the north Wales paedophile ring and Thatcher’s Gov’t, including the role of Leon Brittan (please see post ‘A Few Of The Relevant Politicians Re Mary Wynch’s Case’). I noticed that there was a feature on the Guardian website discussing the violence that was inflicted upon the miners at Orgreave by the police. It was suggested that the confrontation with the miners had been orchestrated by the Home Office and the police, because Thatcher’s Gov’t wanted to give the NUM a beating, both metaphorically and literally. It seems that during the 80s Brittan et al had their very own police force, beating the living daylights out of miners and student protesters, yet failing to take action against a vicious paedophile ring. The feature was interesting to read though, particularly as the Tories have always maintained that there was no malice involved in their battle with the miners. Yet there is film footage in existence (unless it has been destroyed by now) showing Ian McGregor and his wife at a dinner party after the Strike, discussing whether the miners really ‘suffered’, as they sold everything that they owned and relied upon soup kitchens. The McGregor’s helpfully explained that the miners were simply ‘paying the price for insubordination’. Presumably as were the kids in the north Wales children’s homes who found themselves banged up in mental hospitals if they complained about what was happening to them… But did some of them really deserve to die en masse in a house fire???? Surely a soup kitchen and destitution would have been sufficient!

Lastly, Unison – that union that has so many members staffing the dear old NHS but keeping schtum about the horrors within until they put in for a pay claim – has stated that women are being put off politics by online ‘trolling’. I think that women are being put off politics by politicians actually (as are men). Did not the admirable Mhairi Black recently say that she is bitterly disappointed with the idiocies at Westminster and will probably stand down at the next election? I also keep meeting people who, if they were of my generation, would probably have been interested in entering politics but are instead pursuing careers in campaigning and other forms of activism and are of the view that all politicians have succeeded in doing is silencing their concerns. Which is exactly what I hear from whistleblowers who are trying to raise concerns about what is going on in the NHS… As an example of the trolling of women politicians, Unison have named Leanne Wood who has been receiving offensive tweets from scumbags. I’m sure that this was not a pleasant experience but then neither was being the victim of the north Wales paedophile gang – that’s the gang who were the subject of the criminal investigation that Leanne tried to derail. Oh, Leanne knew about Prestwood People Trafficking Ltd as well, because I e mailed her about it! I do not remember receiving a reply…

News Updates – and ‘Leadership’!

BBC News Wales are telling us that it is ‘Dementia Awareness Week’ and are reporting on a piece of research from Bangor University which found that first language Welsh speakers are diagnosed with dementia on average three years later than first language English speakers. A Dr Catrin Hedd Jones has put forward a few possible reasons for why this might be, but she has missed the most obvious explanation. The calibre of old age psychiatrists in north Wales is truly dreadful and I don’t think that there is one Welsh speaker among them and there hasn’t been for years. First language Welsh speakers are never assessed in Welsh, so if they are losing their ability to speak English – as many of them do if they develop dementia – they won’t be able to make themselves understood to the person ‘assessing’ them. I have previously blogged about the elderly Welshman who was sectioned by a psychiatrist whose first language was neither English or Welsh – a horrified social worker witnessing this tried to call for someone who could actually understand what the elderly man was saying, only to be told that ‘there is no Welsh speaking psychiatrist available’. Furthermore, after the horrific revelations of the standard of ‘care’ in Tawel Fan, I know of people in north Wales who fear that they have the signs of dementia but are too fearful to seek an assessment – what ever would be the point, you’ll end up in somewhere like Tawel Fan. Or Bryn Hesketh, another ‘older persons unit’ that has been the centre of a scandal. Well of course it was – the staff who abused patients in Tawel Fan were moved to other units, including Bryn Hesketh! Except for the nurse who blew the whistle on Tawel Fan – she was suspended, arrested, investigated by the police after malicious complaints were made about her and has now departed for England. Catrin Hedd Jones made the laughable comment that ‘earlier diagnosis means treatment and care can begin sooner’. So people can be subjected to the Tawel Fan Experience as soon as possible, rather than doing their utmost to avoid being housed in a ward where naked patients with untreated broken bones are left to crawl around the floors covered in faeces and urine whilst being abused by the ‘caring staff’ – who are of course deserving of a pay rise.

Readers know that I gain much entertainment from the twitter feeds of a number of people who seem to skilfully land themselves even deeper in the shit every time that they send out a tweet (to paraphrase Churchill, ‘never in the field of human conflict have so many been entertained by so few’). So I was delighted to see that yesterday, Hywel Williams, the personal friend of a number of those who have inflicted so much suffering, was tweeting about the Human Rights Act! Ah, the HRA – the Charlie Falconer con – ‘we’ve passed a Human Rights Act so people abused in care settings can now sue if their dignity is breached’. But at the same time he and Vera Baird implemented changes to the Legal Aid system meaning that virtually no-one abused in ‘care settings’ could afford to sue no matter what was happening to them. Legal Aid changes that prevented a lot of lawyers like the two who were in Bangor taking cases against the mental health services from continuing their work. The Human Rights Act that provides so much fodder for Theo Huckle and his colleagues at Doughty Street Chambers, including Amal Clooney, wife of George – who has clearly taken to hanging out with Very Bad Company indeed (please see previous posts). That’s the Theo Huckle that had sight of nearly 10,000 documents demonstrating criminal behaviour on the part of the mental health services and their associates, including perjury and perverting the course of justice, but who remained silent…

The death of Rhodri Morgan has been widely covered in the Welsh media, with scores of ‘tributes’ being paid as is required at such a time. There are many of us who were greatly pleased when Rhodri stated that he wanted to put ‘clear red water’ between Cardiff Bay and Westminster and of course it was almost a situation of anyone whom Blair was knifing was OK by us. However I note that Vaughan Roderick’s assessment of Rhodri’s political contribution was that it wasn’t perhaps as great as a lot of people are suggesting. Among the many tributes to Rhodri were some from mental health charities remembering his ‘great interest’ in mental health matters and his support for people with mental health problems. This is the Rhodri who was First Minister when the likes of me were writing repeatedly to Ministers telling them just what was happening to us at the hands of the mental health services. The Rhodri who appointed the dreadful Brian Gibbons as Health Minister – the Gibbons who wrote me a letter saying that ‘this correspondence is closed’ when I told him that I had evidence of criminal activity on the part of the mental health services in north Wales. The Rhodri who employed Mark Drakeford as a special advisor- Drakeford, the former social worker who later became a Professor at Cardiff University who knew what dysfunctional organisations looked like, the academic who failed to respond when he received a letter from another academic telling him that there was every indication that a substantial research fraud had been perpetuated by Professor Mark Williams of Mindfulness fame. So it could have been seen as poetic justice when the barrel of shit that was the north Wales mental health services exploded in Drakeford’s face in the form of Tawel Fan when he was Health Minister. The barrel of shit that Rhodri had known was there for years and that Edwina Hart attempted to challenge when she was Health Minister. But someone removed her from that post before she had finished those bastards off – presumably her boss, Rhodri. After one of the censored reports into the north Wales child abuse scandal was withheld from politicians, it was Rhodri who made angry comments to the media stating that it was a disgrace that there were people who facilitated a paedophile ring in north Wales and that politicians in Wales still were not allowed to know their identities. If Rhodri was one of those who has been reading this blog, he’ll know their identities now – one was a Dr Dafydd Alun Jones, Chair of CAIS. CAIS has now merged with Hafal – the Hafal that Rhodri was so supportive of, who paid tribute to him in the media yesterday.

There were more Leaders on TV yesterday. I understand that they took part in a Leadership debate. But the only two Leaders who matter ie. the two who are in a position to become Prime Minister, refused to take part in the debate. So I didn’t bother to watch it. But I understand that Wales’s own Strong Woman, the one on an Independence Journey, was there. Which is a complete bloody mystery because she’s not a Westminster MP so can’t become Prime Minister no matter how much she wants to. She did manage to call Theresa May ‘weak’ in a tweet though, for refusing to participate in the Leaders Debate. Theresa will be quaking in her boots Leanne, as no doubt was Trump when you had a knees-up in Cardiff with Charlotte Church to show him how much you disapproved of him.

Election Campaign Update – And A Reminder

MI’ve been exposed to a lot of election campaign news today – as Plaid and Labour have both released their election manifestos, the media has been full of interviews and commentary. One of my friends attended the launch of the Labour manifesto in England although I haven’t received the low down on it all from him yet. However I have heard snippets of commentary on the news and I understand that Jeremy has pledged many more billions for the NHS and pay rises for nurses, yet has not made the commitment to reversing the Tories benefit cuts that many people were hoping that he would. Jeremy – the NHS is being grossly mismanaged and even if you give them the billions as promised that will be pissed up against a wall as well and then the Top Doctors and Associated Vested Interests will simply return for yet more. Furthermore nurses are NOT badly paid – healthcare assistants, porters and cleaners in the NHS are, but nurses are not. Tim Farron trotted out the myth of ‘nurses going to food banks’ this morning too – well if they are, they are not doing so because they can’t afford food. During one general election campaign years ago Spitting Image took the piss out of Neil Kinnock by having his puppet campaigning by simply repeatedly yelling down a megaphone ‘nurses’ – I think that everybody except for the Tories seem to be doing the same at the moment. Neil Kinnock did not win that election. Indeed he didn’t win any election, so why the media keep wheeling him out as some sort of sage to tell us all how hopeless Jeremy is I cannot fathom. Anyway sadly it would seem that Jeremy et al are too busy pursuing the votes of the more comfortably off people who work in the NHS to defend people who are becoming destitute because Crapita and ATOS have removed their disability benefits following deeply flawed ‘assessments’ by people maintaining that they are ‘qualified healthcare professionals’ when they may actually be nurses (!) or physiotherapists who have been fired from previous positions and who have no knowledge of the conditions that they claim to be ‘assessing’. But then the Top Doctors et al make more noise and are able to gain more media coverage than someone severely mentally ill sleeping in a doorway.

One thing that I heard this morning was Leanne being interviewed on the ‘Today’ programme. Leanne was being given a grilling by – I think Sarah Montague – who was having a good sneer at Plaid’s performance as compared to the SNP and who was also highlighting what was alleged to be the very personal tone of a Plaid party political broadcast screened last night. I didn’t see it, but Montague was maintaining that words such as ‘cruel’ and ‘vicious’ had been used to describe the Tories. Leanne stood by the broadcast and reiterated her opposition to ‘cruel Tory policies’. I note that the Plaid manifesto also makes reference to the Tory party being ‘cruel and reckless’ and states that only Plaid can protect Wales against the Tories. I do not disagree that many of the Tories policies are cruel and reckless, but Leanne and some – although not all – of her colleagues would appear to have enforced some pretty cruel practices themselves. Such as tabling and signing an Early Day Motion to prevent the closure of a ‘hospital for mentally abnormal criminals’ that in reality was an establishment owned and managed by a man who qualified as a solicitor but who was struck off for embezzling clients funds and who owned a number of other schools and children’s homes where children made allegations of sexual and physical abuse. And it would seem that a number of the ‘mentally abnormal criminals’ housed in this ‘hospital’ had complained about being sexually assaulted whilst they were resident in children’s homes in north Wales. (Please see post ‘Further Information On Garth Angharad Hospital’.) One of the people who signed that Early Day Motion was Ieuan Wyn Jones who is Plaid’s candidate for Ynys Mon. As for being reckless – well Leanne attempted to derail a criminal investigation into the paedophile ring that operated in children’s homes in north Wales, by appearing on TV and suggesting that witnesses should talk to her rather than the police on the grounds that she was a woman. (So was Lucille Hughes who was the Director of Gwynedd Social Services and named in the Waterhouse Report as knowing that the paedophile ring was in operation in the children’s services but failing to do anything about it.) Now witnesses to the activities of that paedophile ring are quite thin on the ground because so many of them have been found dead. A number of them died all at once when a fire broke out in a building in Brighton after they’d been invited to a party there – a fire that was allegedly started by a Trevor Carrington, but no-one can be certain because he was found dead shortly after as well. Traces of an accelerant such as petrol were found at the scene. Not everybody at the party died, some jumped to safety although they were impaled on railings below. Cruel and reckless? Yes I’d say that inviting people to a party in a building with no fire escape and then throwing a petrol bomb into that building was pretty bloody cruel and reckless – as was trying to interfere with a criminal investigation into the people who had probably done that. As for protecting the Welsh nation from the Tories – one of my posts regarding the Mary Wynch case (‘A Few Of The Relevant Politicians Re Mary Wynch’) demonstrates very clearly that it was Tories at the highest levels of Thatcher’s and Major’s administrations that were ensuring that there was no investigation into what happened to Mary at the hands of the north Wales mental health services – and Plaid were keeping quiet about what was happening too. Regarding Dr Dafydd Alun Jones, he who was illegally imprisoning people and sexually exploiting patients – he was a former Plaid candidate. There are constant allegations that bigwigs were using the children’s homes in north Wales as brothels – a number of Tories have admitted that Sir Peter Morrison, MP for Chester and Thatcher’s PPS, as well as one time deputy Party Chairman, molested under-aged boys and there are witnesses who allege that he was known to have visited children’s homes in north Wales. The picture that emerges of the 80s and 90s is that of Tories at the top of the food chain calling the shots whilst Plaid effectively kept a lid on it all at the local level. No-one defended Wales from the Tories, they wrecked the nation. I note that Leanne popped up on Questions To The First Minister after lunch as well, berating Carwyn about the state of the mental health services at the Betsi. These are the mental health services that employ a nurse that is on such good terms with Leanne’s colleague the dreadful Hywel Williams that he held one of his election victory parties at her house – the same Hywel who literally turned his back and walked away from constituents who approached him about the malpractice of the mental health services or who wrote them rude e mails. (Do you remember the e mail that you sent to me Hywel? The one that simply read ‘You have your opinion, I have mine?’ Did you think that I didn’t know that you were a former psychiatric social worker, that you were on Dafydd Alun Jones’s twitter feed and that you were actively mates with some of the people who were abusing us?) Prior to appearing on the ‘Today’ programme, Leanne made a much publicised light-hearted appearance with Victoria Derbyshire, filmed in a car, during which I understand that Leanne discussed the symptoms of her menopause. Presumably she thought that she was on ‘Woman’s Hour’, where discussing one’s periods or menopause (depending upon one’s vintage) is obligatory before one moves on to damson jam and smashing the glass ceiling. (I used to wonder why ‘Woman’s Hour’ was so lame until I read about the shite that rained down upon Jenny Murray’s head for daring to take the Germaine Greer view that a man who has had his penis surgically removed isn’t actually a woman – it virtually got her the sack.) Leanne also stated that with regard to Theresa May, ‘I don’t know what she is’. Sadly Leanne, she’s a Prime Minister – she’s not a very good one, but at least she has stated her intentions to abolish the Mental Health Act which has been used to incarcerate people who have dared complain about the mental health services or who have been sexually assaulted in children’s homes and if they still won’t shut up load them up with so much ‘medication’ that it renders them incapable or even kills them.

Then Adam Price popped up on the ‘World At One’ – he spoke very well and didn’t bother to discuss the state of his hormones/reproductive organs once, he stuck principally to economics. God there must be so many people in Plaid who regret the thrashing of Leighton Andrews in that last Assembly election… Incidentally, there was a news item in the Daily Post yesterday which reported the imprisonment of a man who had attempted suicide. He had shot himself in the foot – I think he must have been taking lessons from Leanne…

A Few of the Relevant Politicians Re Mary Wynch’s Case

My previous post ‘Those Lawyers and Judges Involved In The Mary Wynch Case’ gave some details about the various judges and lawyers who were getting their hands dirty where Mary was concerned. But what about the puppet-masters and of course those (very few) politicians who had supported her as the scandal became public? Mary’s shafting at the hands of the British state began when her mother died in 1972. Mary was finally spat out, ruined, in 1994/5 (please see previous posts ‘The Mary Wynch Case – Details’ and ‘Post-Script: The Mary Wynch Case – The Details’). So the Great Stuffing Over spanned the premierships of Ted Heath, Jim Callaghan, Margaret Thatcher and John Major. Political historians maintain that these administrations were all very different – yet the Ministers and Government Departments of all of them played a part in the ruination of a lady who had demonstrated serious wrongdoing on the part of the Home Office, the Public Trustee and the NHS.

Ted Heath was Conservative PM between 1970 and 1974 and leader of the Tories between 1965 and 1975. He remained a Tory MP until 2001. My post about the lawyers and judges who wrecked Mary’s life mentioned that Blackett-Ord, the deeply compromised judge riddled with conflicts of interests, had been appointed to the post of Vice-Chancellor of the County of Palatine of the County of Lancaster by the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster appointed by Heath in 1972. For most of 1972 the Lord Chancellor was Geoffrey Rippon, although in November, John Davies took over. So it is probable that it was Geoffrey Rippon who appointed Blackett-Ord. Geoffrey Rippon was Tory MP for Hexham between 1966 and 1987 and was a member of the far-right Monday Club. Blackett-Ord was a landowner who came from the Hexham area. Geoffrey Rippon stood down as an MP in 1987 – at the same time that Blackett-Ord stood down as Vice-Chancellor, which was pretty much at the same time that everyone involved in imprisoning Mary in the North Wales Hospital Denbigh admitted negligence! Geoffrey did alright for himself though – in the same year he became Lord Rippon of Hexham. The Lord Chancellor under Heath who was also involved in appointing Blackett-Ord was the notorious Quintin Hogg aka Lord Hailsham, whose father had been also been a Lord Hailsham and Lord Chancellor. Quintin Hogg equated to a caricature of a batty old judge from a previous era and maintained that God had helped Thatcher win the Falklands conflict. Of course, when all this was happening to Mary, devolution had not happened and matters Welsh were handled by the Welsh Office (please see my previous posts for details of the evidence of corruption in the Welsh Office’s legal and medical departments that I have in my possession regarding my own case). The Secretary of State for Wales throughout Heath’s time as PM was Peter Thomas. He was also Chairman of the Party between 1970 and 1972. Thomas was MP for Conway between 1951 and 1966, but was returned as the MP for Hendon South in 1970, retiring in 1987 – like a few other people did! As with Geoffrey Rippon however, Thomas fell on his feet – in 1987 he too was given a peerage, becoming Lord Thomas of Gwydir. Readers will remember that Mary’s original problem was her allegation that a number of local solicitors had been guilty of malpractice and had all been networked together. Peter Thomas was from Llanwrst – his father had been a solicitor. Thomas himself was a barrister who practiced on the Chester and Wales Circuit – the circuit where there were allegations of serious corruption and where so many very odd things happened in Court cases – and worked as a Crown Court Recorder between 1974 and 1988. Mary’s arrest and imprisonment occurred during that time. Thomas remained as the Tories Welsh spokesman after Heath lost the election in 1974, but returned to the backbenches when Thatcher took over as leader of the party. Peter Thomas was a member of the Gorsedd – as was Dr Dafydd Alun Jones and many people in his network.

At the time of Mary’s arrest and imprisonment, Jim Callaghan was the Labour Prime Minister. Callaghan was PM between 1976 and 1979 and leader of the Labour Party between 1976 and 1980. Callaghan held a seat in the Cardiff area continuously between 1945 and 1987. (A lot of people clearly decided to step down from their jobs in 1987. Which was not only the year that Dafydd et al admitted negligence in relation to Mary but was the year that Dafydd and his colleagues started telling everyone who would listen that I was ‘dangerous’. It was also of course the year that Alison Taylor the social worker who blew the whistle on the north Wales paedophile ring told Margaret Thatcher in person that she had witnessed children being abused in north Wales and was then sacked by Gwynedd County Council.) Shortly after stepping down from the Commons, Callaghan became Lord Callaghan of Cardiff.  Callaghan had a connection with the Top Doctors as well – his wife Audrey was Chair of the Governors of Great Ormond Street Hospital between 1969 and 1982. At the time of Mary’s arrest and imprisonment, the Lord Chancellor was Elwyn Jones. Jones was a barrister who came from Llanelli and was a Recorder at Merthyr. He led the prosecution of the Moors Murderers in 1966 at Chester. He was a Labour MP and Attorney General between 1964 and 1970, later becoming Lord Chancellor between 1974 and 1979. Harold Lever was Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster between 1974 and 1979. He was a barrister and Labour MP, later becoming Lord Lever of Manchester.

By the time that Mary’s appeal was heard – and granted – by Lord Donaldson and Lords Justice Parker and Balcombe, Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister. I have written a lot in previous posts about events in north Wales relating to the mental health services and the north Wales child abuse scandal during Margaret Thatcher’s time as PM, particularly the corruption at the Welsh Office and I have discussed various Ministers and their aides. However the person that I am interested in for the purposes of this post is the Home Secretary at that time – remember, Mary was suing the Home Office as well as Dr Dafydd Alun Jones, Dr Paul Bishop and Clwyd Health Authority.  That Home Secretary was Leon Brittan. Brittan was Home Secretary between 1983 and 1985 and had been Minister of State at the Home Office between 1979 and 1981. He stood down as Home Secretary two months after Mary won her appeal. Brittan was first elected as MP for Cleveland and Whitby in 1974. In 1983 he was elected MP for Richmond and remained there until he resigned in 1989 when he became a European Commissioner. Like so many others who have featured on this blog, Brittan was a lawyer. Brittan’s time as Home Secretary was controversial – he was in post during the Miners’ Strike and took many of the very questionable decisions in relation to that dispute (the consequences of which the present Conservative Government are still not willing to discuss openly let alone submit to a public inquiry). Brittan personally suppressed a TV programme about the Troubles in Northern Ireland – he wrote to Stuart Young, the Chair of the BBC, asking him not to broadcast it. An emergency meeting of the Governors was called and the programme was cancelled, causing industrial action at the BBC. Another very unpleasant series of events occurred when Brittan was Home Secretary that seem to have faded from everyone’s memory. Brittan visited the University of Manchester in about 1984 and was met by a student protest. The students were violently attacked by the police and students were injured. The police continued to maintain that there had been no wrongdoing on their part, but some students spoke to the press and provided photos of their injuries. Over the following few weeks two students in particular claimed that they were followed around Manchester and constantly threatened with serious harm by unidentified police officers. One student was so terrified that he fled to mainland Europe and went into hiding. Another student was a medical student who refused not to be intimidated and continued giving interviews to the media. The police harassment of her became so serious that it was alleged that police were going into the hospital where she was on placement threatening to injure her. She stopped appearing in the media, but whether that was because Leon had ordered everyone to stop publicising what was happening or whether the student decided to keep quiet out of self-preservation I do not know. There was never an appropriate investigation into the police’s actions regarding those events. However, Leon certainly had a powerful effect on media folk. In 1984 or it might have been 1985, one of my friends worked as Box Office manager at the Edinburgh Festival. Very near to the opening of the Festival, my friend received an incredibly rude letter from one Samuel Brittan, a journalist on the Financial Times and brother of Leon. This letter consisted of only three lines or so and demanded tickets and accommodation for the Festival. The letter ended with the line ‘Anyone at the Financial Times can vouch for me’. Of course tickets for the festival had sold out weeks previously and accommodation in Edinburgh during the Festival is impossible to find, that gets booked up months in advance, so my friend wrote back to Samuel Brittan apologising but saying that she was unable to help him because both tickets and accommodation had sold out. Within days there was uproar. My friend was pulled up by her manager and shown an exchange of letters that had been precipitated by her inability to meet Samuel’s unreasonable demands. Samuel had been so incensed by my friend’s failure to produce tickets and accommodation at the last minute that he had sent a photocopy of her letter to one Michael Grade to show Grade just how mortally wounded he had been. Grade had then written back telling Samuel that he was ‘appalled’ at the Festival’s ‘rudeness’ and that Grade would definitely ensure that Samuel got into the Festival, even if Grade had to give Samuel his own ticket. My friend was given a Grade A bollocking and was reminded that Samuel was Leon’s brother and one had to do what he requested. Shortly after Grade shamelessly grovelled to Samuel Brittan, Grade was let loose on Channel 4. More recently Grade was Chairman of the BBC Board of Governors – at the time he banged on about his ‘independence’ and senior people at the BBC penned toadying articles about his ‘charisma’ and ‘energy’ and his penchant for red braces no less. Well I’ll put on a pair of red braces and someone can give me a job as Chair of the BBC and I won’t have to grovel to the likes of Samuel Brittan to show my charisma or energy. Grade has now been given a peerage and ‘came out’ as a Tory. No doubt if he thought that ingratiating himself to the Labour Party – or even to my friend – would have got him into the Lords he’d have done that.

By March 1991, when David Bellotti, LibDem MP for Eastbourne, tabled an Early Day Motion asking for a full investigation into Mary’s case, Thatcher had resigned and John Major had become PM. Before John Major had become an MP he had been a Councillor in Lambeth – he was elected in 1968 and lost his seat in 1971. He was elected as MP for Huntingdon in 1979. John Major’s administration memorably became mired in allegations of ‘sleaze’ and it was also on his watch that the ‘Cash For Questions’ scandal involving Neil Hamilton and others occurred. Of course there was no investigation into Mary’s case. So how did those MPs who signed the Early Day Motion asking for one fare? With the exception of Dafydd Wigley they were all Liberal Democrats. But not very well-known ones, except for Alan Beith. David Belotti, who led the charge, lost his seat the next year. He didn’t reappear as an MP again, although he did continue in local politics at Council level. He died a couple of years ago. Yet all the others – even the most obscure – were given peerages: Lord Beith of Berwick-Upon-Tweed (he became Deputy Leader of the LibDems, Shadow Home Secretary, Shadow spokesman for the Lord Chancellor’s Department and Chaired the Commons Justice Committee), Lord Bruce of Bennachie, Lord Fearn of Southport, Lord Taylor of Goss Moor, Lord Geraint Howells. Now something interesting happened to Lord Howells. He had been a leading Welsh LibDem and had been his party’s spokesman on Welsh affairs between 1979 and 1987. Yet the year after signing the Early Day Motion he unexpectedly lost his seat to Plaid Cymru. In the 1992 election when they they won the seat, Plaid moved from their previous position of fourth place to first. They did this by forming an alliance with the Welsh Green Party and thus picked up a lot of non-Welsh speakers votes. (The alliance broke down in 1995 – the year of the last mention of Mary’s case in the House or indeed anywhere else.) The man who won the seat for Plaid was Cynog Dafis, who served as the Plaid MP until 2000, as well as an AM in the National Assembly of Wales between 1999 and 2003. Interestingly enough, although he was elected in an alliance with the Wales Green Party, Cynog Dafis is on record as saying that he did not consider himself the ‘first Green MP’ – although he remained a robust campaigner on matters relating to the Welsh language. Ieuan Wyn Jones (who has featured on this blog previously) asked Dafis not to step down from the National Assembly in 2003. Dafis stood for the Party’s Presidency but lost to Dafydd Iwan – that’s the Dafydd Iwan who was one-time leader of Gwynedd County Council and who supported Leanne Wood’s bid for the Plaid leadership. Dafydd Wigley now also has a peerage. There is no mention of any of the people who signed the Early Day Motion asking for an investigation into Mary’s case doing anything further in support of her. Mary was mentioned in the House again by the LibDem MP for Montgomeryshire, Alex Carlile, in 1993 when he asked the Lord Chancellor’s Dept for an investigation into Mary’s case and asked when there was going to be a reply to a number of letters written about the case. In 1995 there was the last mention of Mary in the House, again in response to a question asked by Alex Carlile. There are no further indications of anyone fighting on behalf of Mary. What of Alex Carlile? Well he grew up in Rossett near Wrexham and Lancashire and worked as a barrister. After the 1992 election he was the sole LibDem MP in Wales. He was given a peerage in 1999 and is now Lord Carlile of Berriew. In 2001 he was appointed the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation. He became President of the Howard League for Penal Reform in 2006 and Chaired a 2006 Inquiry into children in prisons, secure training centres and children’s homes regarding practices such as restraint and strip searches. He Chaired a follow on inquiry in 2011. He is also a Deputy High Court Judge. He is co-director and co-owner of a consultancy, along with Sir John Scarlett, the former chief of MI6. So if anyone could have done a bit more digging re Mary’s case I reckon that Carlile could have. But he didn’t.

The Home Secretary whilst Mary’s name was being mentioned in the House re the request for an investigation was Kenneth Baker. He was born in Newport but represented a Surrey constituency. He was Party Chairman between 1989 and 1990. After the 1992 election he left the Government rather than accept the post of Welsh Secretary. He is now Lord Baker of Dorking.

So who was Home Secretary when the paltry payment to Mary in full and final settlement of her action against the Public Trustee was authorised before she was told to get lost and ignored for ever? It was Michael Howard, who was Home Secretary between 1993 and 1997. Howard was born Michael Hecht, in Swansea and was a lawyer – yet another one! He was obsessed with the need to imprison increasing numbers of people and coined the slogan ‘prison works’. Well it was certainly an effective way of preventing Mary from ever achieving her rightful inheritance or indeed any sort of justice at all. Howard is now Lord Howard of Lympne.

So somehow, somewhere, among all those peerages, Mary disappeared and was never heard of again. As with my previous posts, I’d just like to make a few links between a few of those mentioned above and the various child abuse scandals that have occurred in the UK – after all, previous posts have explained very clearly how the north Wales mental health services and Dafydd proved very useful in facilitating and concealing the paedophile ring which it is now admitted operated in north Wales during the 70s, 80s and 90s, which seemed to be the reason why a lot of people didn’t want the practices of Dafydd et al scrutinised too closely.

So back to Ted Heath. Heath has of course been the subject of some very lurid allegations regarding child sex abuse. Heath was the subject of Operation Conifer, an investigation by the Wiltshire Police. The evidence provided by some alleged victims to Conifer was described as ‘fantastical’ eg. it involved allegations of Satanic abuse via recovered memory therapy. Operation Midland, the Metropolitan Police investigation into the alleged child abuse and associated homicides by Heath and others centring around Dolphin Square in Pimlico after allegations made by a man called ‘Nick’ were discredited, was stopped on the orders of Justice Richard                    Henriques. Henriques has featured on this blog previously – along with Sir John Kay (the judge who issued a High Court Injunction against me at the request of Gwynedd County Council that was based on the affidavits of two people who perjured themselves, one who had never met me at all and one who had met me twice), Henriques dismissed the 2002 appeal against conviction of Jeremy Bamber. There is a growing body of opinion that Jeremy Bamber is the victim of a very big miscarriage of justice that is thought to have involved misleading ‘expert psychiatric testimony’ (please see post ‘Family Annihilation’). There have been a number of other police investigations into possible child abuse offences by Health conducted by other Forces. Of course there were allegations made by someone that Harvey Proctor, the former Tory MP, along with Ted Heath, abused him. Proctor angrily denied such allegations reminding everyone of just how much Heath and he hated each other. Proctor was a member of the Monday Club along with Geoffrey Rippon. I have no idea whether Ted Heath was a child molester or not and I too am very sceptical both about the notion of widespread ‘Satanic abuse’ and the value of ‘recovered memory therapy’. But the process by which Mary was imprisoned and destroyed by people personally appointed by Heath was shocking, both in terms of the laws broken and the conflicts of interest involved. Somebody clearly knew that if someone had been screwed over by the Public Trustee and needed silencing and unlawfully banging up, Dr Dafydd Alun Jones and the North Wales Hospital would serve this purpose. However Mary being subsequently treated fairly by Lord Donaldson et al seemed to precipitate a bit of anxiety with a lot of people deciding to ‘step down’ at that point.

Like Ted Heath, Leon Brittan has in recent years been the centre of allegations of child sexual abuse, although the allegations swirling around Brittan are not so easy to dismiss as those regarding Heath. It is known that in 1984 Brittan was given a dossier by the Tory MP Geoffrey Dickens which detailed paedophile activity in Westminster in the 1980s. Its whereabouts is unknown, along with other files on organised child abuse previously held by the Home Office. Brittan denied all knowledge of this in 2013, yet in 2014 declared that Dickens had met him at the Home Office and that he’d written to Dickens on 20 March 1984 explaining what he’d done in relation to the files. A review by Mark Sedwill, a Home Office civil servant, in 2013 found that copies of Dickens’s material ‘hadn’t been retained’, but that Brittan ‘acted appropriately’ in dealing with the allegations. A November 2014 review by Peter Wanless concluded that it was ‘impossible’ to say whether the files had been removed to cover up abuse. Keith Vaz MP, Chair of the Home Office Select Committee, stated that files had been lost on ‘an industrial scale’. Sedwill found that 114 files ‘potentially relevant’ to child abuse were known to have been lost or destroyed by the Home Office. At least four specific allegations relating to child abuse were not passed to the police for 35 years. In June 2014, Brittan was interviewed under caution about the rape of a 19 year old in 1967. He denied the claims and the CPS advised that there was insufficient evidence to charge him. After Tom Watson MP (Labour) lobbied Alison Saunders the DPP to investigate further, the police reopened the investigation. It was concluded that there would not have been enough evidence to charge Brittan even if he was still alive. It was slip-ups by the CPS and Alison Saunders that resulted in Greville Janner never being prosecuted for child abuse although it is now acknowledged that he should have faced charges… In October 2014, Jim Hood MP (Labour) used Parliamentary privilege to refer to Brittan being linked to child abuse. After his death in Jan 2015 Brittan was accused of multiple child rape. Tom Watson claimed to have spoken to male victims and the Independent On Sunday reported claims that Brittan had abused a pre-pubescent boy at the notorious Elm Guest House in 1982. It was also reported that he’d been photographed attending a rent boy orgy in 1986. The boys were allegedly picked up in Kings Cross and dropped off at a location in north London were they were repeatedly raped. The day before the planned arrest of Brittan and others including Cyril Smith, the investigation was inexplicably abandoned. In 2015 the Telegraph reported that Operation Midland detectives investigating sexual abuse by Westminster politicians and other ‘VIPs’ visited and searched two houses in London and Yorkshire, formerly owned by Brittan. Government documents in 2015 named Brittan as one of four senior Westminster figures named regarding child sex abuse, the context of the references being unknown. Along with Brittan, Sir Peter Hayman a former British Diplomat and former Ministers William van Straubenzee and Sir Peter Morrison (please see previous posts) were named in Government files after a review into historical child sexual abuse. In July 2015 it was reported that Brittan and Sir Peter Hayman were among suspects in an alleged Westminster paedophile ring in the 1980s, according to an Australian current affairs series, 60 Minutes. Brittan was accused by an alleged victim of the ring of abusing children at Dolphin Square – there were allegations that the ring involved politicians, police and high profile names. In March 2016 the Metropolitan Police confirmed that Operation Midland had been closed without any charges being brought – after Richard Henriques ordered it.

In the aftermath of the allegations against Brittan, his friends and former colleagues fumed at length about the outrage that it was that he had died with these allegations hanging over him and how distressing it must have been for his wife. It no doubt was – but Brittan oversaw a Home Office that ‘lost’ evidence of criminal activities and stood by whilst a woman from north Wales whom it was admitted had been wronged had her life destroyed completely, by a psychiatrist whose mistress was Director of a Social Services Dept which had a paedophile ring operating in it and who helped her facilitate this paedophile gang. In comparison to the lives of Mary Wynch and the scores of people in the ‘care’ of the children’s services or mental health services in north Wales, Leon ‘multiple homes’ and ‘seat in the Lords’ Brittan and his wife had a pretty comfortable existence. The least that he could have done was run his bloody department properly. Of course Fiona Woolfe, the second Chair of the National Inquiry Into Child Abuse, stepped down when it was revealed that she had links with Brittan. She didn’t remember at first – it only came back to her that he was one of her neighbours and had been to a few of her dinner parties when someone else mentioned it. I often forget who I’ve had over to mine for dinner regularly. Particularly when they’re the Home Secretary.

Regarding John Major and his stint as a Councillor in Lambeth – Lambeth Council has now paid out millions in damages to children in it’s care who were abused after it admitted that paedophiles were active in it’s children’s homes. It has ear-marked many more millions for future damages settlements. Further details can be read in my post ‘The London Connection’.

So The Great Stuffing Over was never mentioned again after 1995, what with David Bellotti safely out of Parliament and virtually everybody else involved having been given a peerage to buy their silence, or should I say ‘in recognition of their service to the nation’, even those whom nobody had ever heard of such was their great contribution. But there was still much trouble in north Wales. It was completely bloody obvious even to those most desperate to play it down that child abuse was endemic in children’s homes in north Wales and there had been an embarrassing number of allegations of a paedophile gang operating in the region and even a few convictions. In 1994 – the year in which Mary had received her final pathetic sum – an inquiry into abuse in north Wales children’s homes was ordered, which resulted in the Jillings Report in 1996. It’s results were so damning that it wasn’t published and an order was sent out that all copies should be destroyed. The team who conducted the inquiry were met with so much aggro that they nearly ended up resigning in despair and the North Wales Police refused to co-operate with the inquiry at all. So a full judicial inquiry was ordered, to be led by Sir Ronald Waterhouse, a High Court Judge. A man who had previously worked on the Chester and Wales Circuit – the Circuit alleged to be riddled with corruption. Waterhouse had been the junior prosecuting counsel at the Moors Murders trial in Chester – so he worked with Elwyn Jones, who as previously mentioned was Callaghan’s Lord Chancellor at the time that Mary was arrested and imprisoned. Waterhouse had grown up in Holywell and north Wales being what it is probably personally knew many of those featured on this blog such as Dr T. Gwynne Williams the lobotomist from the North Wales Hospital and dear old Dafydd. Waterhouse did find evidence of a paedophile ring operating in the Chester and Wrexham area but stated that there were no ‘prominent national figures’ involved. Which was just as well because had he found otherwise some very difficult questions might have been asked – like what on earth were the police, the lawyers, the judiciary and health and welfare services let alone the Government doing that allowed it to happen? He also might have had to name and shame a few of his mates. The inquiry was ordered by the Secretary of State for Wales, one William Hague. That was the William Hague who took over as MP for Richmond when Leon Brittan stood down. Hague was leader of the Tory Party between 1997 and 2001 and was then First Secretary of State and Foreign Secretary in the Coalition Government formed in 2010. David Cameron described him as ‘de facto political deputy’. Hague was given a peerage in 2015 and recently purchased a 2.5 million mansion in Powys – one can only hope that he is not swindled out of it by the Public Trustee. Until just before he became Tory leader Hague was single and was plagued by rumours that he was gay and was receiving grief from a certain sort of Tory about the undesirability of a man without a wife. Two weeks before the general election, Hague suddenly acquired a woman who wanted to marry him and announced his engagement which surprised everyone because no-one had realised that there was a lady on the scene. She was one Ffion Jenkins who had been Hague’s private secretary at the Welsh Office. Ffion’s father was Chief Exec of the Arts Council of Wales, her mother was a magistrate and her elder sister, at the time of Ffion’s wedding, was the assistant private secretary to Prince Charles. It was explained in the London based press that Ffion was a member of the ‘Crachach’ aka the Tafia, the Welsh speaking elite who wield much influence in Wales. However the notion of the crachach is rather in the eye of the beholder and I know of one woman from Caernarfon who has been seriously harmed by the mental health services who uses this term to describe social workers and teachers. However, one thing on which I think that everyone is agreed is that it isn’t the members of any crachach who get raped in children’s homes and then sectioned when they complain about it. Now that William Hague has retired he has been writing political biographies. Unlike a lot of his colleagues Hague is a genuinely clever man who no doubt is a very competent researcher and writer. With abilities like that and his Government experience, one wonders why he couldn’t see through the holes in the Waterhouse Report. Or indeed why he thought that appointing a judge who had worked on a notoriously corrupt circuit and who had grown up and gone to school in the heart of an area where a long-standing paedophile ring was operating which was being facilitated by corrupt professional people in the region was a good idea.

After Waterhouse, allegations of a cover up and whitewash would not go away, so in 2012 the then Home Secretary Theresa May, a member of David Cameron’s Government, ordered Lady Justice Macur to conduct a Review of the Waterhouse Report. That was the same David Cameron who when he was younger had been a special advisor to Michael Howard who had authorised the pittance to Mary in order to ensure that she shut up and died in penury. The Macur Review found that there had been no cover up at all on the part of the Waterhouse Report. Which was a jolly good thing considering how many political careers have been built on the basis of No Important People being involved. But just to make doubly sure, when the police began a reinvestigation into the north Wales paedophile ring, Leanne Wood attempted to derail it before it had even got off the ground. And as for Lord Carlile’s close business relationship with Sir John Scarlett – it has been consistently alleged that the security services have been involved in concealing organised child abuse.

News Round Up, May 3 2017

BBC News Wales is reporting further on the Tawel Fan scandal (please see previous posts on Tawel Fan). It has now emerged that seven families of  patients involved have been told by the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board that the ‘treatment’ at Tawel Fan may have contributed to their deaths. It is stated that a mortality review has been compiled but has not been made public. (One doesn’t need a mortality review to work out what’s going on in the mental health services run by the Betsi, one only needs to look at the tally of suicides that I’ve reported on this blog since I began keeping the tally last August.) Two investigations into the Tawel Fan scandal are ongoing. BBC News Wales reports that no-one has been dismissed or prosecuted or has resigned over Tawel Fan – what the BBC have not mentioned is that one person involved was suspended and has now left the Betsi’s employment and that is the nurse who blew the whistle on the abuse. She now works in England. So the abusive staff are all still in post and the one member of staff who behaved properly has been driven out.

The local politicians remain silent about the horrors of Tawel Fan – well there’s the votes of NHS workers to consider in the forthcoming election and they’re more valuable than the fate of elderly mentally ill patients who won’t vote anyway – but dear old Hywel Williams’s twitter feed is full of his campaigning efforts to establish a medical school at Bangor! Where the key figures will be the people who were responsible for Tawel Fan – another stroke of genius from the fool Hywel. I also note that Hywel has put up a new photo of himself on his twitter feed, Hywel in warrior mode, waving his fist. I’ve seen Hywel do this in person, when I went to see Leanne speak in Bangor during the last election campaign – he clenched his fist, waved it in the air, and made jokes about being part of a mafia no less. Did you do that when you used to section patients and detain them in the North Wales Hospital Hywel? A bit of intimidation if those patients started rebelling… By the way, a bit of advice to readers if anyone meets Leanne when she’s out campaigning – when you get sick of Leanne’s clichés about diversity, equality and Plaid’s ‘independence journey’, ask her a question about economics. She won’t be able to answer it. When I saw her speak in Bangor, she was in front of an audience full of loyal supporters, so no-one asked her anything difficult like ‘why did you try to derail a criminal inquiry into a vicious paedophile ring?’, but one man did ask a question about economics and Leanne looked very uncomfortable indeed and stuttered her way through a prescribed not very relevant answer with reference to the economic state of the UK post-World War II. I rather got the impression that if that man had been allowed to ask a follow up question Leanne would have been floored.

Various news outlets are reporting further on the case of Pip McManus, the teenager with severe anorexia who threw herself under a train days after leaving The Priory, Altrincham. There was much criticism of Pip’s care by the coroner, with serious failings identified. Pip’s family have stated that there were failings in her care from beginning to end and that Pip was simply abandoned to die. This is not really surprising when one considers the identity of the woman who is the Priory Group’s overall Medical Director for Eating Disorders – she is Dr Adrienne Key, who trained at St Georges Hospital Medical School and Springfield Hospital under Professor Arthur Crisp, where patients were abandoned and left to die if they were too ill to eat. (Please see post ‘News Round Up, April 19 2017’ for more information about Adrienne and Arthur.)

There is a row taking place regarding statins. There is a group of ‘experts’ – including the experts who are involved in the manufacture of statins – who vigorously promote the use of statins such as Rory Collins from Oxford, some of whom have argued that statins should be routinely prescribed to all middle-aged people. Other people have maintained that this is nonsensical and dangerous because there are side-effects being reported associated with statins and that the whole association between cholesterol and heart disease is based on bad science anyway. A Professor Peter Sever from Imperial College is maintaining that the side-effects of statins are entirely a consequence of patients negative expectations. The British Heart Foundation is backing statins. As with criminal trials held at Chester Crown Court involving people who have experienced north Wales’s child care and mental health care services, who could ever know the truth in all this? I don’t know Rory Collins or Peter Sever but I do know that some of their colleagues at Oxford and Imperial have been involved in some very dodgy research (please see previous posts). As for the British Heart Foundation – well their Director in Wales is now Ruth Coombs, the same Ruth Coombs who for years was a leading light in MIND Cymru and failed to speak out about the carnage in the north Wales mental health services, although she certainly knew all about it.

Before I sign off, back to the election. I am listening to the Today programme as I write this and they’ve just held an interview with a Welsh Conservative, one Angela Jones-Evans. Who is of course the wife of one Dylan Jones-Evans, formerly of Bangor University (please see post ‘News Round-Up, March 20 2017’ for information about Dylan’s less reputable activities). Dylan has effectively been run out of Wales now and has wound up at the University of the West of England in Bristol. Peter Hain gained some effective ammunition to throw at the Welsh Tories from Dylan’s blog a few years ago and I understand that the Welsh Tories realised that Dylan was somewhat of a liability. (Dylan was also mixed up in the enormous scandal that led to the dismantling of the University of Wales and at one point literally left the country to avoid the bad publicity.) I was always told that Angela was very much nicer than Dylan but after Dylan’s failure to get elected as a Tory in Wales (he lost when he stood for Aberconwy) Dylan made plans to realise his political ambitions through Angela who was a rather less toxic brand than he was. Should Angela be elected it will be Dylan pulling her strings and no doubt the Tories will come to regret it. However there has been a row over Angela’s selection for Newport – it seems that Angela was imposed by Conservative HQ in London and was not the choice of the local party. So how did Angela manage to come to the attention of Conservative HQ? Who has Dylan been ingratiating himself to there? As Private Eye would say, I think we should be told…

News Round Up, April 30 2017

I’m back from my break so the blog is back in action. Many thanks to the readers who sent me information and stories whilst I was away – I’ve got a stack of posts in the pipeline, although it may take me a week or so to catch up with everything. I also have many other leads which will take a bit of background research…

I have been sent a number of links to a story involving a surgeon at Harefield who is currently on trial for the rape and sexual assault of colleagues. There are familiar themes in this story – his offensive behaviour was well-known, women avoided being alone with him, no-one had the guts to formally notify the relevant authorities until one brave woman spoke up only to find huge pressure put on her to go away and shut up, with comments like ‘he does that to everyone’ being made. Of course he’ll have been doing it to everyone, he knew that no-one was going to confront him…

My attention was also drawn to a huge fire at the Christie Cancer Research Unit in Manchester, run by Cancer Research UK. The reader who sent me this story quipped that there may well have been an awful lot of documents thrown into the inferno in the light of my recent posts regarding cancer research, naming a few people who are now very big names in Cancer Research UK. Whilst on the subject of cancer research, I did hear on the radio that there is now an admission that the Cancer Drugs Fund that has operated in NHS England has been a complete waste of money and an ‘ill thought out’ piece of policy. A man called Richard Sullivan appeared on the Today programme fessing up to all this, but stated that he didn’t want to ‘name names’ regarding the people who had lobbied so vigorously for the Cancer Drugs Fund. Well he should name names – anyone who has ever been involved with biomedical research knew that the Cancer Drugs Fund was a con, a number of powerful drug companies knew that they could pressurise weak and unscrupulous politicians to lobby the Westminster Government to fund drugs that were hugely expensive and had very little proven benefit. Everyone involved knew this – the people who didn’t know it were the patients dying of cancer, frightened, vulnerable and desperate, who believed that they would gain a few further months of life. But a few pics of them in the Daily Mail accusing the Government of ‘condemning them to death’ did wonders for the implementation of that policy. Readers will know that I have been very, very critical of Carwyn for ignoring the genocide of mental health patients in north Wales, but to be fair to Carwyn he has been spot-on in refusing to implement the Cancer Drugs Fund in Wales. He repeatedly stated that there was no evidence for it and was roundly abused by everyone. ‘Team Irfon’ from north Wales were particularly vociferous in painting Carwyn as an Utter Bastard. For the uninitiated, ‘Team Irfon’ are the group of people supporting Irfon Williams from the Bangor area who has terminal cancer and were robustly pressing for the Cancer Drugs Fund to be introduced to Wales. At one point Irfon announced himself ‘cured’ and ‘free of all tumours’ after receiving a miracle drug from England – Carwyn commented that it all seemed rather odd. Well it was, it transpired that Irfon wasn’t cured at all, his tumours were rediscovered within weeks and it has now been admitted that Irfon is dying. I would be interested to know who was Irfon’s source of information – Irfon was described as an ‘NHS manager’ in the press. He is actually a mental health professional from north Wales who’s friends and family have mobilised the sort of support for him at a time of crisis that his own patients certainly never enjoyed. Irfon is a relatively young man with small children, so I can understand that he will have grasped at any glimmers of hope – but someone was telling him porkies and was very obviously using him in a political campaign… Would anyone now like to admit that where the Cancer Drugs Fund was concerned Carwyn was right – and apologise for all those damning headlines suggesting that he was singlehandedly responsible for the deaths of cancer patients in Wales? I seem to remember that the Tories were having a field day with such allegations…

There was also an appearance on the Today programme by Richard Torbett, a PR man from ABPI (Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry), announcing that unless the NHS receives many more billions in funding, pharmaceutical companies and those involved in the ‘life sciences’ industry, would pull out of the UK, precipitating disaster. This was presented as yet another ‘warning’ to the UK Gov’t along the lines of ‘ooh they’ve ignored the Top Doctors, but the ABPI are saying exactly the same thing’. The Today programme should have actually pointed out that the ABPI and the Top Doctors are pretty much the same people – the ABPI Board, the advisory committees of the ABPI and it’s associated companies are choc full of Top Doctors, the Top Doctors are leading the research teams supplying the data to the ABPI and the Top Doctors then prescribe the drugs produced by the ABPI. The whole process tends to be about careers and money rather than developing interventions for the greater good of humanity (please see previous posts). It was mentioned on the Today programme that the products of the ABPI were ‘reviewed’ by NICE, just to reassure us all that there’s nothing dodgy going on. This would be the NICE that has been rash enough to appoint one Professor Jo Rycroft-Malone to Chair one of it’s most influential committees. Enough said. (New visitors to the blog can read all about Jo in previous posts, such as ‘An Expert On The Betsi Board!’)

A number of other stories regarding the NHS In Crisis also appeared whilst I was away. The UK Govt’s Public Accounts Committee have heard evidence that patients in England are struggling to obtain GP appointments because practices are shutting during ‘core’ hours (‘core’ hours being NHS speak for ‘the normal working day’). A report from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health stated that children’s hospital units are closing to new patients because of staff shortages. Well, the NHS is a grossly dysfunctional organisation riddled with bullying and corruption and people who’ve gone into medicine for the right reasons are increasingly feeling that they just can’t stomach much of what is going on…

A truly splendid story appeared on BBC New Wales – my old friends MIND Cymru and it’s Director Sara Moseley alerted us all to ‘struggling emergency service workers’ who are now going to be offered ‘support’, such are their traumas. Presumably these ‘struggling’ workers include the Welsh Ambulance Service personnel who are fiddling their expenses, violently assaulting each other and failing to respond to calls from members of the public in serious need (please see post ‘A Longstanding Problem…’). Yet still not a word from Sarah about the appalling abuses of the mental health services in north Wales – she’ll know all about them because her brother Simon Moseley is a clinical psychologist employed by the Betsi….

I heard on the radio an update on the sad story of Alice Gibson-Watt (please see post ‘News Round-Up, April 13 2017’) who died in the ‘care’ of the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital after experiencing a postpartum psychosis. I note that it was concluded that there was a catalogue of ‘failures’ on the part of the NHS – although no-one managed to explain how Alice sustained a torn liver at their hands, although it was the torn liver that caused the cascade of physical problems that killed her.

A reader informed me that a previous star of this blog, Simon Pyke, a lying, incompetent former mental health services manager with the Betsi went on a ‘Knowledge Exchange Visit’ to the inaugural Indo-European Symposium with one Dr Brian Tehan – a Dr Murali Krishna (formerly a consultant old age psychiatrist with the Betsi) was involved as well. Just to remind readers, it was an elderly mentally ill ward at the Betsi, Tawel Fan, where conditions were so bad that a national scandal followed after a whistleblower made an undercover recording, that caused the Welsh Gov’t to place the Betsi in special measures. Patients on Tawel Fan were crawling naked around a floor covered in urine and faeces and one patient had a broken arm that had not been treated. What on earth would the people responsible for such ‘care’ have to teach anyone attending an Indo-European Symposium? Interestingly enough the link that the reader sent telling me about this is a Bangor University link to the School of Social Sciences. I used to work in that School and when I worked there it was full of, well, Social Scientists, some of whom were very good. But something strange happened just before I left – the School started filling up with psychiatrists from the Betsi and their associates, who certainly didn’t know anything about social science. Presumably this ‘Knowledge Exchange Visit’ was another jolly organised by those psychiatrists and their associates, none of whom have any knowledge to exchange at all beyond how to abuse and neglect patients. I see that the link to this piece of info is broken – has someone at Bangor University woken up to what a PR disaster it’s going to be if anyone actually associates Simon Pyke et al with them? Interestingly enough, other readers have been telling me that when they’ve searched for folks at Bangor University who have featured on this blog, they too have found that the information from the University website has disappeared – and the University of Oxford have removed a few links to dear old Mark Williams’s original ‘mindfulness’ work as well… Have Bangor and Oxford finally woken up to what has been going on? I would imagine that the VCs of these institutions might be very worried indeed, although I am aware that the idiots who were actually responsible for the fraudulent ‘research’ exposed on this blog are still in a sound sleep up there – as ever it’s only dear old David Healy who’ realised that they’re all on borrowed time….

Whilst on the subject of Bangor University removing links to embarrassments, regular readers might remember my post regarding the disasterous Hilary Lappin-Scott and her brief time as PVC for Research at Bangor (please see post ‘News Round-Up, March 16 2017’). After the University divested itself of her services, a lot of us were very entertained to see that all references to Lappin-Scott disappeared from the website within two hours of her departure. The word on the ground was that a trusted IT technician was ordered to cleanse the website – I was told that the University’s experience with Satan-Scott had been so dreadful that there was a concern that she might remove crucial information from databases in an act of sabotage, so security measures were undertaken as well. Satan-Scott of course has re-emerged at Swansea University, where she has caused havoc. The investigative website ‘The Eye’ is really obsessed with Satan-Scott and has been reporting on the chaos that she has been causing at Swansea for months. Their latest update reveals that Satan-Scott has been appointed to a key position regarding the Research Excellence Framework and interdisciplinary research, although she has no expertise whatever in the field. Since leaving Bangor, Satan-Scott has constructed herself as an ‘expert’ on ‘gender’ – Satan-Scott is a microbiologist and knows bugger all about gender scholarship (indeed I was entertained to see that many of the most basic facts and figures relating to the ‘gender gap’ given in a recent ‘international presentation’ by Satan-Scott were wrong), but she has declared herself a gender expert on much the same basis that Leanne Wood has declared herself a feminist – because she’s a woman (hey Hilary, men have a gender too!). According to the Eye, Satan-Scott has been busy ingratiating herself to Dame Athene Donald, the woman who has now offered Satan-Scott the position on the REF committee. Oh well, so we now going to have a brainless bully who tramples on women who are not in a position to do her favours passing judgement on other people’s research that she will not understand. I note that although Theresa May recently visited Swansea University, Satan-Scott was not part of the delegation that met her – presumably someone at Swansea knew damn well that Satan-Scott could not be let loose on the ultimate VIP.

The row regarding weekend death rates in the NHS continues apace – I can’t see anyone ever getting to the bottom of this one, because the figures from the NHS can’t be trusted but neither can any figures presented by Jeremy Hunt. It reminds me a little of a confrontation on ‘Any Questions’ a while ago between Peter Hain and Kirsty Williams, where they both yelled that the other one was lying during a row about nurse to patient ratios in NHS Wales. The reality was that neither of them knew and neither of them had the guts to admit that much nursing practice in the UK NHS is unsafe, so the nurse to patient ratio in such circumstances is not a marker of quality anyway. NHS England are also busy boasting about the number of new nurses that they’re training – it doesn’t matter Jeremy/Theresa, if those nurses have standards they’ll leave, just as thousands of other nurses have already and your staffing problem will remain. There is no shortage of qualified nurses in the UK, just a shortage of nurses who want to work as nurses – and it’s nothing to do with salaries or funding, it’s the bullying and dysfunction that drives them away.

I was struck by a mystery yesterday. The media has been awash with reports of a high profile boxing match (I don’t know between who because I don’t follow boxing), but over the past few years I’ve noticed that boxing has undergone a remarkable rehabilitation. At one point boxing was considered very unacceptable and the BMA campaign to outlaw it almost looked as if it was about to succeed. (I remember a BMA spokesman stating that ‘there is no safe level for being hit on the head’, which must be one of the few honest things that a spokesman for the BMA has ever said.) But the BMA have now gone very quiet where boxing is concerned – what’s happened? Who’s silenced them and how? We are now subjected to media reports telling us how Prince Harry overcame his aggressive urges by hitting people, how it is ’empowering’ for young women to hit each other and how some schools are re-introducing the noble sport of hitting each other in order to keep youngsters away from crime (it worked a treat with Ronnie and Reggie Kray didn’t it) – and not a squeak from the BMA…

Lastly, yesterday I heard the dreadful Esther Rantzen on the radio waxing lyrical about her ‘work’ with charities, particularly ‘mental health’ and Childline. Esther forgot to mention the recent revelations that some children had rung Childline complaining of institutional sexual abuse and had been ignored or the embarrassing claims of the woman who maintains that she told Esther all about Jimmy Savile but Esther never responded. Well when Esther launched her mental health campaign I wrote to her about the abuses taking place in the mental health services in north Wales and Esther never replied to me either. However, this morning I heard that supermarkets are going to start selling wonky looking vegetables again. So I’ll purchase a root vegetable that looks like a penis and send it to Esther – I’ll be guaranteed a reply…

Of course there has been another big story whilst I’ve been away – that of Ian Paterson, the surgeon who carried out unnecessary mastectomies on women and who has now been convicted of unlawful wounding. I’ll be dedicating a whole post to this, because it’s worth exploring in detail…

News Round Up, April 25 2017

There has been so much in the news related to topics covered on this blog recently that I’m going to have to be selective in today’s News Round Up. There has been a report from south Wales in which a prisoner sustained a fractured skull as a result of being assaulted by an officer, yet another vulnerable woman with drug problems has been packed off to prison in north Wales and there’s a case in England regarding a young man with serious mental health problems who has been kept in solitary confinement at a young offenders institute for months. All these stories would be worth delving into in greater detail, but in this post I’d like to concentrate on some of the stories that were featured on the Radio 4 ‘PM’ programme earlier this evening.

The PM programme ran an expose of the organ trafficking trade based in the middle east, looking in particular at the plight of Syrian refugees in the Lebanon. It was stressed that the middle east is the ‘new global centre for organ trafficking’ and that customers for these organs can be found across the world. This is not a new problem – and furthermore a case from 1990 tells us that customers for trafficked organs can be found in private hospitals in London. In 1990, three UK doctors – Michael Bewick, Michael Joyce and Raymond Crockett – all found themselves in front of the GMC for their involvement in the purchasing of kidneys from what were described as ‘semi-literate Turkish peasants’, this sleazy business being conducted at the Humana Hospital. It was accepted that the Turkish people involved had indeed been paid for their kidneys, but there was a dispute regarding how informed they were. I seem to remember that one man thought that he was on holiday in an hotel – and places like the Humana would indeed look like an hotel to a ‘Turkish peasant’ – and maintained that he didn’t actually know that he was going to be divested of a kidney, he only found out when he woke up from the anaesthetic. There were also some very frightening stories doing the rounds at the time alleging that corpses were being washed up on beaches in Turkey minus their kidneys. So it looked as though Bewick, Joyce and Crockett were in very hot water indeed. But this is the GMC that we’re talking about. Bewick and Joyce claimed that they had no idea that the Turkish people had been paid for their organs, they maintained that they thought that they had given fully informed consent and were voluntary donors (I’m fairly sure that in the UK it was illegal under any circumstances to sell an organ and still is) – the whole business was blamed on Crockett, who was struck off. The GMC reached the most extraordinary conclusion regarding Bewick which gave the nation’s comedians no end of material – he was found guilty of serious professional misconduct, banned from private practice and ordered to work within the NHS, I think for two years. Which sums up everything about the GMC’s attitude to NHS patients. But followers of my blog will of course know that at the same time as making this decision, the GMC were ignoring the most serious malpractice and criminal activity on the part of numerous psychiatrists whose associates were concealing a paedophile ring in north Wales. I remember the Bewick case well – I was working at St George’s Hospital Medical School at the time and I knew someone there who knew him. I expressed my opinion that Bewick couldn’t have possibly known that the semi-literate Turks were being conned out of their kidneys by being told that they were going on a holiday to London and I was told ‘he knew exactly what was going on and no-one knows how he’s got away without being struck off’. Well now I know how the GMC actually operates I too am wondering why the whole sordid business was blamed on Raymond Crockett alone.

There was another item on the PM programme that brought back memories of St Georges. It was reported that a team of researchers – I think from Australia – have developed an ‘artificial womb’ in sheep, which they hope will lead to the development of an artificial human womb, sufficient to sustain very premature babies (babies so premature that they are effectively foetuses). It all sounded a bit far-fetched and reminded me of a major scandal that broke out at St Georges some months after I left. My former boss there, a consultant called Malcolm Pearce, was struck off by the GMC for research fraud. Malcolm had alleged that he had successfully saved an ectopic pregnancy by transferring the embryo from the Fallopian tube into the uterus and wrote this up in a journal article, putting the name of the head of the dept, Prof Geoffrey Chamberlain, on the article as well. It transpired that Malcolm hadn’t performed this operation at all. There was the most enormous furore, Prof Chamberlain had to resign from his post as President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and it was rumoured that he had been passed over for a knighthood because of it all. Malcolm Pearce should never have written the article of course, but look at what else was happening in that institution at the time (please see post ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London…’). Some of the UK’s biggest names in psychiatry were colluding with criminal activity on the part of the north Wales mental health services, knowing that I was the centre of an attempt to frame me for serious crimes and they were not uttering a word. I had by that time raised concerns regarding what was happening in north Wales with scores of people – including the GMC. So why did they go after Malcolm Pearce with such a vengeance – he wasn’t involved in the trafficking of human organs or in the concealing of a paedophile ring that was associated with scores of suspicious deaths…

I think that the GMC have an awful lot of explaining to do – what did Malcolm Pearce do that pissed you lot off so much? He certainly wasn’t in the same league as any of those dangerous nutters in north Wales – and you were happy to forge documents to protect them…

Now it’s time for a bit of news about the Election Campaign! PM reported that Leanne has been in Bangor launching the Plaid campaign. Leanne has stated that ‘Plaid Cymru can offer hope’ and readers have already e mailed me to ask me if I’ve noticed that Ieuan Wyn Jones is showing an interest in running for Plaid on Ynys Mon. Yes, that is the same Ieuan Wyn Jones who featured in yesterday’s post ‘Further Information On Garth Angharad ‘Hospital”, who, in 1992, along with some other very foolish MPs, signed an Early day motion in the Commons to prevent Gwynedd Health Authority closing down a facility for ‘abnormal mentally ill criminals’ – who happened to be people who had complained that they had been victims of the north Wales paedophile ring! The Early day motion had been tabled by Elfyn Llwyd – another Plaid MP, who ended up as leader of Plaid’s Westminster group. The motion was signed by another Plaid MP, Dafydd Wigley. My God, is this really Leanne’s definition of offering ‘hope’?? A group of well-paid powerful people in Westminster, actively seeking to ensure that a hell-hole where the kids brave enough to complain about the horrors of the north Wales children’s homes could be incarcerated without trial was kept open? A hell-hole owned no less by a man who owned and ran schools and children’s homes where there had been many allegations of sexual abuse and cruelty. Leanne is a former probation officer and Ieuan Wyn Jones is a lawyer – they do know how illegal organised child sexual abuse (and possibly murder) actually is. But readers of this blog will have noticed how, again and again, certain members of Plaid seem to have been linked with the whole sordid business that was the children’s and mental health ‘services’ in north Wales when the paedophile ring was causing havoc.

Sadly Plaid are not alone in being splattered with shite where the north Wales child abuse scandal was concerned. Theresa May has been to Wales today to urge us all to vote for her because Wales will be so much better off under the Tories. Like it was in the 80s and 90s Theresa, when Margaret Thatcher and then John Major were in Number 10, when there was no devolution and Wales was lumbered with a whole series of Secretaries of State and a Welsh Office – a Welsh Office that employed corrupt lawyers and a corrupt Medical Ombudsman – who ignored the screams of people like Alison Taylor and me? Alison Taylor told Tory Ministers directly that there was a paedophile ring running riot in north Wales – and I told them that there was serious criminal activity in the mental health services. We were ignored – and in the following years, many, many people died. It has now been acknowledged that Sir Peter Morrison, Conservative MP for Chester, was a paedophile who was visiting children’s homes in north Wales… It is alleged that Thatcher was told of Morrison’s inclination but still appointed him as an aide – but then Thatcher was a friend of Jimmy Savile and personally lobbied for him to be given a knighthood. Please see previous posts for the names of Tories who ignored what Alison Taylor and I were alleging was happening in north Wales.

From what I can see the north Wales children’s homes were used as a brothel and this was facilitated by an awful lot of people from the Tory Party as well as Plaid. There are a few stragglers from other parties as well. I note that someone else who signed Elfyn Llwyd’s Early day motion was one Alun Michael, whom Blair wanted as Wales’s First Minister. That’s the Alun Michael who’s now a Police and Crime Commissioner in South Wales. (Of course in North Wales the Police and Crime Commissioner is Arfon Jones – just read my previous posts…) Not that the LibDems have clean hands either – one Simon Hughes signed the Early day motion. That’s the Simon Hughes of Bermondsey fame who fought the most dreadful campaign involving dirty tricks against Peter Tatchell, predicated on homophobic smears, what with Peter Tatchell being brave enough to fight for gay rights long before it was fashionable to ‘support LGBT causes’. Then when being gay was no longer career suicide for a politician Simon Hughes came out as gay himself! Tim Farron was on the PM programme too, he’s been getting very flustered because journos have been trying to pin him down concerning his opinions on homosexuality – Tim is an Evangelical Christian and everyone’s hoping that they can label him as homophobic. Tim maintains that the LibDems have led the field in the tolerance of homosexuality – well Jeremy Thorpe stood trial at the Old Bailey accused of trying to have his gay lover killed, Simon hurled venom at Peter Tatchell yet signed an Early day motion begging for the private prison of a vicious paedophile ring to be kept open and then there was all that business with Mark Oaten… I think that the LibDems haven’t quite sorted their position out regarding same sex relationships.

Anyway, I’m off for a few days to stay somewhere that does not have WiFi, so there’ll be no posts for a while. Readers are welcome to e mail me though, I will reply when I’m back online. I have more posts planned with further revelations concerning the north Wales paedophile ring, the mental health services and the links between them.

Back next week…

News Round Up, April 20 2017

The Chief Inspector of Constabulary, Sir Thomas Winsor, has made comment in his annual report regarding the human and monetary cost of the police now frequently being the ‘first responders’ to people with mental health problems. There was a discussion about this on today’s ‘World At One’ news programme on Radio 4. The journalist presenting the programme, Martha Kearney, interviewed Michael Brown, a high profile blogger who blogs as ‘Mental Health Cop’ – Brown styles himself as a police officer (I think that he is an Inspector) who has a particular interest in mental health matters. Kearney certainly conducted an interesting interview with him, trying to clarify why so many people in the ‘care’ of mental health teams were relying on the police for help. Brown drew a veil over why this might be, suggesting that further collaboration was needed between the health services and the police to analyse data to clear this mystery up. I certainly found Brown’s response fascinating – he writes a blog that is articulate and well-informed, full of details regarding the various pieces of legislation that pertain to police responsibilities concerning people with mental health problems, yet from what I’ve seen of his blog the one thing that Brown NEVER mentions is wilful neglect on the part of the mental health services and institutionalised corruption in psychiatry. These are big problems that are found throughout the UK and Brown undoubtedly knows about them – furthermore some months ago I left a comment on Brown’s blog regarding these problems. Brown did not publish my comment. During the Radio 4 interview, Kearney also asked Michael Brown about cases where mentally ill people have been mistreated by the police, such as the case of Thomas Orchard who died after being picked up by the police and taken to Heavitree Police Station in Exeter as a ‘place of safety’ (I covered this case in detail in a previous post). Brown reassured us that all is now well as a result of ‘improvements’ that have been made by the College of Policing since the police in Exeter managed to kill Mr Orchard.  Presumably ‘Mental Health Cop’ is yet another site such as those published by arms of the NHS or the big mental health charities that silences grassroots voices and assures us that the only thing wrong with the nation’s mental health services is that they do not have enough dosh…

Now for a bit of politics, what with Theresa May declaring a sudden General Election in June and the forthcoming Council elections in May. I’ve been participating in a bit of e mail correspondence with a reader who’s been raising questions and speculating about certain figures in Plaid who have previously starred on this bog, such as Leanne and dear old Hywel Williams. My post ‘Normal Service Resumed – News Round Up, March 8 2017’ discusses the attempt that Leanne made to derail the recent investigation into the north Wales paedophile ring by asking victims to contact her rather than speak to the police – in the furore that followed, Leanne sweetly suggested that she thought that victims of the paedophile gang might prefer to talk to her rather than the police ‘because I’m a woman’. I think that the police can supply a female officer if needed Leanne, they’ll have had that bit sorted, after all this was an enormous inquiry into a vicious paedophile ring that was alleged to have friends in political circles and whose victims kept turning up dead in suspicious circumstances. Leanne is a former probation officer and at one point was the co-chair of the National Association of Probation Officers – she will understand the meaning of the phrase ‘interfering with witnesses’. My correspondent has pointed out that in her capacity as a probation officer and as leader of their union, Leanne will have had the privilege of attending all sorts of meetings that no-one else had and will also have been party to a lot of interesting info. My correspondent asked me if I knew anything about Leanne’s early political life – I know very little and what I do know is from the official potted history of Leanne and will have been supplied by Leanne herself. At one time she worked as a researcher for Jill Evans MEP. Jill Evans own wiki entry is not very extensive, but it does mention one name known to me. Jill’s wiki entry states that she was taught Welsh by a man called Penri Jones.

Penri Jones taught Jill in Tonypandy, but more latterly Penri Jones migrated to north Wales – he is currently a Councillor for Llanbedrog on the Llyn Peninsula and I presume will be up for re-election in May. Back in 2001/2002 I was learning Welsh in a class in an FE college in Bangor. Our class had a very enthusiastic tutor and we all got on with her very well. I became friendly with her because she lived in the same village as me. This lady, whom I shall call G, was active in Cymuned at the time. Cymuned was a group established in the wake of concerns regarding the future of the Welsh language and the rapidly escalating cost of houses in some parts of north and west Wales which were becoming too much for local people to afford. Cymuned received a lot of bad press, particularly from the ‘Welsh’ Daily Mirror and a lot of it was directed at Seimon Glyn, a leading light in Cymuned. G was friendly with Seimon Glyn. Seimon Glyn had previously been active in Plaid in Gwynedd but as Cymuned gathered momentum a lot of bad feeling grew up between Plaid and Cymuned – because Cymuned were being portrayed as ‘Welsh extremists’ some people in Plaid feared that they would lose them votes. (Cymuned eventually imploded but I didn’t ever find out why – I knew quite a few people involved, but I noticed that people began leaving and by the time that it died a death I didn’t know anyone in there myself any longer.) One member of Plaid who was expressing fears that Cymuned were damaging Plaid was a Penri Jones – who was G’s boss at the FE college and whom G told me had ambitions to stand as a Plaid candidate.

One day I received a phone call at home from Penri Jones, a few hours before a Welsh class. He told me that unfortunately the Welsh class had been cancelled because G was ‘ill’, so please don’t bother to go in. But that evening I received a phone call from G. She was very distressed and told me that she was phoning because she had heard that Penri Jones had rang the members of her class up and told them that she was ill. G told me that she wasn’t ill at all, but that she had had a huge row with Penri Jones which seemed to be based on her friendship with Seimon Glyn and her support for Cymuned and that he had upset her so much that she had crashed her car on the way home. She told me that she’d see me at next week’s class. So I went along – to find Penri Jones with a partner in crime (whom G actually believed was a friend) sitting in the classroom waiting to greet us all. Once we had all arrived he asked us if any of us ‘had a complaint about the tutor’. None of us did. So he asked us again if we were all happy with the tutor. This was obviously a trawling exercise so I stated very firmly that I was more than happy with our tutor, she was highly committed, had taken us all to the Eisteddfod in her own time and presumably hadn’t been paid for that (Penri Jones would not have known that I was friendly with G and therefore knew that he had lied about her being ill and had caused her to have a car crash or that she had been caught in the cross-fire in the battle between Plaid and Cymuned). Penri Jones was good enough to sit in the classroom for about 30 minutes waiting for someone to make a complaint about G but no-one did. A few days later G told me that she had left her job – she had felt forced out by Penri Jones. G landed another job as a Welsh tutor at another FE college in Dwyfor. It started off really well and she was very happy, but after a few months things seemed to turn sour and she left – I lost contact with her at this point because I’d moved house, although the last time that she saw me she told me that after forcing her out of her job Penri Jones retired. However I note that there is information on the internet indicating that Penri Jones had connections with the FE college in Dwyfor where G had obtained employment after she left the FE college in Bangor…

If Jill Evans has bothered to mention Penri Jones in her wiki entry presumably she is quite close to this man who accesses personal details of students, lies to them and forces colleagues out of jobs if they are members of pressure groups that he fears are damaging the chances of a political party that he has ambitions to represent…

Since I participated in the e mail exchange with my reader, Leanne has made a public statement in which she stated that she ‘wouldn’t rule out’ standing for Westminster in the forthcoming General Election. This morning Hywel Williams was quoted in the media as saying that he would be delighted if Leanne stood in the General Election for the Rhondda. This is the Hywel Williams who for many years was employed as a psychiatric social worker in Gwynedd, who seems to have had a very cosy relationship with Dr Dafydd Alun Jones who oversaw multiple horrors and abuses in the mental health services in north Wales – the Dafydd that is a former partner of Lucille Hughes who was named in the Waterhouse Report as knowing that a paedophile ring was operating in Gwynedd Social Services whilst she was Director, but failing to act. That’s the Dafydd Alun Jones who was the subject of a ‘tribute’ song penned and sung by the former leader of Gwynedd County Council Dafydd Iwan – who nominated Leanne to stand as leader of Plaid! Yesterday Hywel stood up in the Commons and denounced Theresa May as being as ‘bent as a banana’. The words ‘pots’ and ‘kettles’ spring to mind… In a recent blog post Jill Evans mentioned how ‘proud’ she was of the work of her colleague Hywel Williams. What could possibly go wrong if Leanne ever achieves her dream and rules over us all in an independent Wales?

Jeremy Thorpe, Norman Scott – and the Denbigh Connection

A reader of the blog has just provided me with this link to a story in Mail Online asking me if I was aware that a connection to Denbigh has emerged regarding the Jeremy Thorpe and Norman Scott case http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4371716/Jeremy-Thorpe-DID-send-hitman-kill-says-ex-lover.html

I remember this case very well – I was a teenager living in west Somerset when the allegation that Jeremy Thorpe had tried to have Norman Scott killed was first made. Jeremy Thorpe’s first Court appearance was in Minehead and it was the most exciting thing that had happened in west Somerset for years. The eventual hearing was at the Old Bailey and readers might remember that although Jeremy Thorpe was found not guilty, allegations of corruption in high places never went away. Norman Scott was living on Exmoor at the time and I can remember local people all believing that Jeremy’s mates would have another go at killing him. Furthermore I knew someone who knew Norman Scott who maintained that he had seen compromising photos of Norman and Jeremy confirming that they did have the sexual relationship that Thorpe always denied. Norman featured in the media from time to time feeling very sore at having been trashed by the famously biased judge at the trial – well he needn’t have worried, the whole of the west country believed what he was saying about Jeremy and his dreadful mates.

The Mail Online is running an interview with Norman, in which he claims that two people, one a former detective, were recently going to be charged with conspiracy to murder him, but the charges have suddenly been dropped and a load of papers have ‘gone missing’ (sounds like those medical records of mine demonstrating corruption in legal and medical circles and at the Welsh Office). Norman has also claimed that Jeremy had tried to smear one of Norman’s friends, alleging that he was running a ‘vice-ring’ and Mail Online have published a letter from Jeremy Thorpe to Harold Wilson, in which this allegation is made. Jeremy gives the former address of this man in the letter – it is in Denbigh, that is why the reader has sent me a link to the story. The letter is dated 1976. So assuming that the man accused of running the vice-ring had left Denbigh a few years previously, which would give him time to have moved to London and occupy the more recent address that Thorpe supplies for him, that still places him in Denbigh in the 70s – during the period of T. Gwynne Williams and Dafydd Alun Jones’s reign of terror and of course during the period when sexual assault and abuse of vulnerable people en masse was alleged to have been happening in north Wales and when dissenters were banged up in Denbigh with no questions asked, sometimes dying within or else only emerging into the outside world again decades later when Denbigh was closed down. Yes there were still prisoners in there as recently as that. When I was in Denbigh during the winter of 1986/87, a nurse cheerily told me that Denbigh used to house many unmarried mothers – and the last one of them had died in Denbigh a few months previously. So everyone knew that in 1985 there was still someone in Denbigh who had been put in there decades before for having a child out of wedlock. No-one questioned this. Furthermore the nurse who told me this as an ‘interesting bit of history’, also told me that before she died, she’d taken this old lady on a day trip to Rhyl and for the first time ever she tried an ice-cream and saw a zebra crossing. She had obviously never left the institution until the 1980s. Dafydd and Gwynne knew about that. Another interesting comment that Dr X from the Hergest Unit once let slip during the process of Denbigh closing down was that there was a ‘problem’ because Dafydd had ‘hidden away’ a few ‘difficult’ patients in there and no-one knew where they were going to go once Denbigh was shut. Perhaps Peter Higson, the Chair of the Betsi, would like to tell us all exactly who these patients who Dafydd had concealed in Denbigh were, why they had been secreted there and what happened to them – because Peter is the man who boasts on his CV that he oversaw the closure of the North Wales Hospital. What did you do with them Peter? Oh and another thing – the other day I was reading one of Dr David Crossley’s laughable publications regarding the history of psychosurgery at Denbigh – written whilst David was working there himself – and I noticed that not only did David not mention the name of Gwynne the lobotomist (well Gwynne was embarrassingly recent history wasn’t he), but David claimed that there was ‘one person who died during surgery’. These operations were being carried out IN DENBIGH – in a room that was later used as a store room – by Gwynne Williams and nurses ‘trained in psychosurgery at Denbigh’. ONE DEATH? Don’t make me laugh David, that bunch of butchers will have killed loads of people. WHERE ARE THE BODIES BURIED?

One very entertaining sequel to Jeremy Thorpe’s acquittal in the face of much evidence that he was indeed guilty, was Peter Cook’s performance at The Secret Policeman’s Ball, during which he dressed up as a High Court Judge and performed a truly wonderful satire of a corrupt, biased judge bending over backwards to acquit someone who had attempted to murder someone else. It contained many memorable lines, including some hurling abuse at the alleged hitman that ended with the judge stating that the hitman was ‘someone unable to carry out a simple murder plot without cocking the whole thing up’. Four years ago I gave the Welsh Gov’t nearly all the information that I have published on this blog – I also cc’d most of this information to Kirsty Williams and Leanne Wood, in their capacity as opposition leaders. I also wrote many, many e mails to the GMC informing them as to what had been going on. Peter Cook’s biased batty old corrupt judge reminded me so much of His Honour Huw Morgan Gruffydd Daniel when he presided over my ‘trial’, that I also enjoyed myself by attaching the You Tube clip of Peter Cook performing his sketch to my e mails. Since I wrote those e mails, I have acquired even more documentation demonstrating that the institutional corruption in medicine and law was even more serious than I knew at that time. In the same way that nearly all the witnesses who claimed to have been abused by the north Wales paedophile ring have been found dead in questionable circumstances, nearly everyone I know who had the Gwynne and Dafydd experience at Denbigh is now dead. It will be obvious from this blog that I’ve had a few close shaves myself over the last thirty years – including being left with no care for years on end when I was suicidal and seriously depressed, having someone stuff half a bonfire through my letterbox, being prescribed a combination of drugs by Richard Tranter which would have killed me if I’d actually taken them, experiencing cars being driven carelessly in my direction and being regularly contacted by a friend of Dafydd’s who is now serving a prison sentence for attempted double murder (please see blog post ‘A Very Bad PR Man’). Thankfully, with respect to me, it would seem that there are a number of people in north Wales who are unable to carry out a simple murder plot without cocking the whole thing up.
