The Rakes’ Progress

I have previously discussed how notions of protecting language, culture and identity have been used as a battering ram by the paedophiles’ friends, including against Welsh-born Welsh speakers from Y Fro Gymraeg. In tandem with this, the self-appointed guardians of language, culture and identity have excluded people from polite society who’s credentials are every bit as sound as theirs. I know at least three Welsh-born Welsh speaking high achieving academics who were treated appallingly at Bangor University by the paedophiles’ friends. They eventually gave up and left for institutions where they did not have to fight a civil war on a daily basis. These three people were exactly what the Burmese Generals at Bangor claimed that they wanted: high achieving local people with a commitment to the region. They were ruthlessly frozen out, because the combination of being high achievers but not paedophiles’ friends was too much for the paedophiles’ friends to tolerate. I was always told that bodies like the Welsh Arts Council (later renamed Arts Council for Wales) are dominated by an inner circle who simply exclude anyone who is not acceptable to that inner circle. Some English people living in Wales view this as a ‘Welsh’ phenomenon. It isn’t, nothing beats the nepotism and cronyism of the London medical establishment. However the phenomenon is very easy to map in Wales because Wales is small with fewer people at the top of the pyramid calling the shots.

One body which is widely suspected of doing favours for people on the basis of their pedigree or network rather than their ability is the Welsh Books Council. Interested readers can pop over to the website of the Welsh Books Council to gain more extensive information on the movers and shakers there, but to get a feel of who wields influence, let us look at the two people who have served as Directors/Chief Execs of the Welsh Books Council since its creation.

The first Director of the Welsh Books Council was Alun Creunant Davies, whom we are told by Meic Stephens, his obituarist, ‘played a pioneering role in developing the book trade in Wales’. Davies took up his post, with a staff of one, on St David’s Day 1965 and it is said was ‘never overtly political’, yet ‘drew great strength from his patriotism which, for him, was rooted in the Welsh language and its culture’. I am reminded of the time in 1987 when Bernard Manning appeared on the BBC’s ‘Wogan’ and stated that he was ‘not political’. During the course of the interview Manning stated that ‘a woman’s place is in the home’ three times. Manning’s club act included jokes about lynching black people and chucking fire bombs into the houses of Asians, but even Wogan had the sense not to allow Manning to raise the roof by such means on prime time TV.

Welsh publishing was in a sorry state during the post-war period, with only 234 Welsh-language titles appearing between 1946-51 and fewer than a hundred a year thereafter. There was a small but growing demand for Welsh-language titles and the Ready Report of 1951 concluded that the future of the language depended to a large extent on the availability of books in Welsh. It recommended the creation of a fund for the public subsidy of book production by local and central government. Thanks to the efforts of librarian Alun R. Edwards, the counties of Wales had begun to provide small grants for the printing of Welsh books, mostly fiction and a modicum of payment for their authors.

Alun R. Edwards worked at the National Library of Wales, a bastion of the paedophiles’ friends (see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’) when he was young, starting there in 1950. It was probably as a result of his connections there that he was able to raise support and funding for Welsh language books. Alun R. Edwards grew up in mid-Wales and worked in the library service in Ceredigion – the Alun R. Edwards Centre in Aberystwyth Town Library is named after him. Edwards was appointed Dyfed Librarian following the re-organisation of local government – so that was probably in 1974. So Edwards worked with the paedophiles’ friends at the National Library and then popped over to Dyfed, where the local authority was run by Ioan Bowen Rees, who in his incarnation as Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council presided over a paedophile ring in the Council’s children’s homes (see post ‘I Know Nuzzing…’). A linked paedophile ring was in operation in Dyfed.

Alun Creunant soon transformed the tentative arrangement that Alun R. Edwards was responsible for, by persuading 12 of the 13 county councils (the exception was Monmouthshire) to make more substantial annual grants to the Books Council. This initiative was followed in 1972 by the Welsh Arts Council’s decision to pay for the setting up of four new departments, with responsibility for design, editing, publicity and marketing and by the Welsh Office’s contribution of an annual grant for the subsidy of Welsh book production and some of the concomitant operating costs. The number of Welsh-language titles grew steadily and they were better designed, edited, publicised and marketed than ever before.

I am wholly in favour of the availability of Welsh language books, indeed I own some. However, it is very noticeable that the Welsh language authors who bag prizes for their work and who’s work is promoted by the industry are drawn from a small clique and are usually the offspring or family friends of people who held that position in the previous generation. At first I assumed this was a function of Welsh language writing being a minority interest, so by definition it would be a small circle of people involved who as a result of statistical probability would be associated with each other. However as I began to make friends with increasing numbers of Welsh speakers who had been born and brought up in north Wales, I was told repeatedly that a highly nepotistic system was firmly in place, rather that one based on meritocracy.

Some years ago it was alleged that Celtic scholars in other locations were beginning to view the Welsh scholars at Bangor and Aber as a bit of a joke, being so mediocre yet living in Y Fro Gymraeg. I initially wondered if these accusations were a result of academic rivalry, until a young Welsh academic commented to me that Bangor University was going to find itself severely embarrassed when the results of the RAE were published because the results from Bangor’s School of Welsh would be ‘crap’. I responded by saying that the School of Welsh’s mock RAE had gone very well. I was told ‘yes, because they got their mates to review them. Wait until the real thing.’ Sure enough, when the RAE results were published, the School of Welsh in Bangor was rated terribly, with the exception of one member of staff who is prolific and excellent, but who is not Welsh. Not a word was said about the shameful RAE results and the School of Welsh escaped the sort of aggro that usually accompanies a poor RAE performance in universities these days. Bangor University’s School of Welsh continued to be spoken about as a centre of excellence and the opinions of those within continued to be sought as to who was worthy of funding, prizes or promotion. I know of one high achieving Welsh language academic who’s career was finished after he wrote a critical review of a book published by the Professor of Welsh at Bangor University. Then there was the other outstanding Welsh academic who was bullied out of the School of Welsh and was also the subject of a poisonous whispering campaign.

‘We’re the paedophiles’ friends and you can’t get us.’

The Welsh Arts Council was until 1994 part of the Arts Council of Great Britain. The Chair, 1972-77, was Eton-educated Lord Patrick Gibson, who served with the intelligence services and later presided over Pearson, his wife’s family’s publishing company. Gibson was Chair of the National Trust and was also involved with the Royal Opera House and Glyndebourne. For full details of Patrick Gibson, who’s family estate was in Sussex, see post ‘Today We Have Naming Of Parts’. So that was who looked fondly upon the Welsh Books Council.

By the time that the Welsh Office was helping to fund the Welsh Books Council, the Welsh Office had long since been colonised by the paedophiles’ friends and was concealing the wrongdoing of Dr Dafydd Alun Jones and the paedophile gang. The Secretary of State for Wales, 1970-74, was Peter Thomas QC, under PM Ted Heath. Thomas was the Oxford-educated son of a solicitor from Llanwrst who worked as a barrister on the corrupt Chester and Wales Circuit. Like Sir Ronald Waterhouse, Peter Thomas was a member of Middle Temple. Thomas was Deputy Chairman of Cheshire Quarter Sessions, 1966-70 and of Denbighshire Quarter Sessions, 1968-70. So Thomas will have decided the fate of more than a view victims of the paedophile gang and he will have continued to do so in his capacity as a Crown Court Recorder, 1974-88. Thomas also sat as an arbitrator on the Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. Peter Thomas was President of the Conservative Friends of Israel.

Thomas was bilingual and took an active part in the Gorsedd of the Bards, attending Eisteddfodau. He married Tessa Dean, the daughter of actor and film and theatrical producer Basil Dean and his wife, Lady Mercy Greville. Which is indeed exactly what Greville received throughout his long life, thanks to the efforts of the paedophiles’ friends with links to Dafydd and the gang in Wales:

Peter Thomas was Tory MP for Conwy, 1951-66 and then for Hendon South, 1970-87. So he was the Tory MP for a wealthy English constituency on the outskirts of London when he gave a few crumbs from the table to the Welsh Books Council. Thomas succeeded Sir Hugh Vere Huntly Duff Munro-Lucas-Tooth, 1st Baronet, who had held Hendon South from 1920.

Peter Thomas was Chairman of the Tory Party, 1970-72. It was in 1973, while Peter Thomas was Secretary of State for Wales, that Matt Arnold and Peter Howarth relocated from Axwell Park Approved School in Gateshead to take up posts at Bryn Estyn, thus expanding the paedophile gang that was already operating in north Wales. Matt Arnold was appointed Head of Bryn Estyn after the previous Head, Peter Burton, had been killed in a car crash in Cheshire in March 1973, along with his wife and seven year old son. The Deputy Head of Bryn Estyn was also killed in the crash.

Peter Thomas picked up his peerage from Thatcher in 1987 – the year of the first major cover-up of the activities of Dafydd and the paedophile gang, which involved the squashing of Alison Taylor, Mary Wynch and me.

On 18th Nov 1987 at approx 19-30 pm a fire broke out in King’s Cross-St Pancras tube station which killed 31 people. I was due to be passing through that station at the time of the fire on that day but I had been delayed so I missed it. After I began this blog, I was told that the King’s Cross fire was an attempt to kill me. At first I definitely didn’t believe it. Then I thought that it was highly unlikely, but subsequently more and more information came my way suggesting that I and my friends were indeed in far greater danger from a bunch of gangsters than we ever knew. MI5 knew that we were being targeted, as did the police. None of us were warned, for reasons of ‘national security’ and the need for public confidence in the medical profession and criminal justice system to be upheld.

During Peter Thomas’s time as Secretary of State, there was a period of violent activism by Welsh language activists, including bombings and a campaign by Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg to remove English road signs. In 1970 Dafydd Iwan, later the leader of Gwynedd County Council, was imprisoned for his refusal to pay fines for defacing English language road signs. Dafydd Iwan’s contribution to the world of folk songs includes a tribute song to Dr Dafydd Alun Jones, as well as ‘Carlo’, a satirical ditty about Prince Charles. Carlo was the Chancellor of UCNW when Dafydd Alun Jones and the traffickers ran that institution.
Gwynedd County Council managed the children’s homes where, for decades, children were abused and trafficked. In 1988 Alison Taylor wrote to Carlo and told him that children in care in Gwynedd were being abused. Carlo’s office wrote back and told her that Carlo could not get involved.

After Baron Thomas of Gwydir of Llanrwst in the County of Gwynedd gave the Welsh Books Council a bit of loose change that he found down the back of the sofa, the Books Council expanded rapidly. It moving from its offices in a building leased from the Farmers’ Union of Wales to more spacious accommodation at Castell Brychan, a former Roman Catholic seminary which stands on Constitution Hill at Aberystwyth. At the same time the Books Centre, a wholesale distributing warehouse on the industrial estate at Llanbadarn, on the outskirts of Aberystwyth – which was wholly Alun Creunant’s idea – began providing the publishers, booksellers, teachers, librarians and book-buying public of Wales with a fast delivery service.

Creunant Davies was ‘determined to implement policies and procedures that would ensure a greater degree of professionalism in what had for long been almost a cottage industry. In this he used his diplomatic skills to persuade those on whom the fortunes of the Books Council depended’.

‘He’s going to tell, he’s going to tell…’

More dosh please Welsh Office and Arts Council.

The Director of the Books Council who succeeded Alun Creunant Davies was Gwerfyl Pierce Jones. Gwerfyl Pierce Jones was born in Holyhead in 1949 and went to Holyhead High School. The Windbag’s wife, the Baroness of Holyhead, also came from Holyhead and went to Holyhead High School – the Baroness was born in 1944. The Baroness’s parents were friends with Lord Cledwyn, aka Cledwyn Hughes, who was Secretary of State for Wales, 1966-68 (see post ‘The Cradle Of Filth’). Cledwyn’s junior in the Welsh Office was child molester George Thomas (see post ‘It Wasn’t On Our Radar’), who served as Secretary of State for Wales between Lord Cledwyn and Peter Thomas.

Gwerfyl studied at UCNW (Bangor University) and after graduation worked as a lecturer in the Welsh Dept at St David’s University College of Wales (later the University of Wales Lampeter and now University of Wales Trinity St David). Scores of paedophiles’ friends in Wales went to Lampeter, but someone who, in 1981, joined Dr Death in the SDP and regularly got herself wheeled out on ‘Question Time’ did as well – Sue Slipman.

Slipman had been a member of the Communist Party of Great Britain before she fell into the arms of Dr Death. Sue is the same age as Gwerfyl and they will have known each other, Lampeter being a very small college in a very small town. Slipman was President of the NUS, 1977-78. She later joined NUPE, a union which represented many of those managing and working in children’s homes where abuse of the kids was rampant. NUPE however refused to represent Alison Taylor when Gwynedd County Council sacked her, although she was a paid up member. Both Alun Michael (see post ‘The Paedophiles’ Friends Of Cardiff North’) and Jeremy Corbyn did what they were told by NUPE – Jeremy worked for them before he became an MP.

Slipman served on the executive committee of the Communist Party before joining the SDP as a founder member. Supported by Dr Death, Slipman stood unsuccessfully for the SDP in working-class constituencies in 1983 and in 1987.

Here they are, breaking the mould of politics:

British Politics | First Draft

In the late 1970s Slipman served as an executive member of the NCCL when it was affiliated with PIE. Between 1986-95, Slipman was Director of the National Council for One Parent Families – many of whose fellow travellers could also be described as paedophiles’ friends – which she rallied in support of the Conservative Govt’s catastrophic Child Support Agency. The first Director of the CSA was Ros Hepplewhite, who was appointed after her stint as the Chief Exec of MIND, whilst MIND was colluding with and concealing the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophiles (see post ‘MIND Are Out For Mental Health – Never For Themselves Of Course’). Slipman subsequently held a number of other public roles and in 2005 she became a Director of the Foundation Trust Network, working with foundation hospitals within the NHS. Such as Mid-Staffs. Slipman is, or was, a non-executive Director of King’s College Hospital.

Slipman’s former fellow Lampeter student Gwerfyl has also held posts in arts administration with the Welsh Arts Council and Academi. She was the Director and CEO of the Welsh Books Council, 1987-09. Gwerfyl has sat on many boards and committees, including the British Council (Wales Committee), National Library of Wales and the Welsh Language Board. Meri Huws, a former Gwynedd County Council community social worker for the council estate in Bangor on which the Ty’r Felin children’s home was located – where children were abused and trafficked, including to Dolphin Square (see post ‘Are You Local?’) – was Chair of the Welsh Language Board, 2004-12. Meri had previously been Chair of Cymdeithas yr Iaith and is now the Welsh Language Commissioner.

Gwerfyl Pierce Jones is Chairman of the James Pantyfedwen Trust and Chair of its examining committee; Chair of Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru; and became a Fellow of the University of Wales Lampeter in 2008. Meri Huws worked at Bangor University for years and the institution breathed a sigh of relief when she left for a job as a senior manager at Trinity St David’s in approx 2010.

Gwerfyl is currently Pro-Chancellor of Aberystwyth University – her term runs until til 31 Dec 2019. She sits on the University Council and for the year 2016-17, sat on the following committees: finance and strategy; professional development, staffing and equality; redundancy (she was Chair); nominations; standing panel for student appeals.

The James Pantyfedwyn Trust is a charidee which financially supports church renovation, postgraduate students and the National Eisteddfodau. The Trust provides a home for numerous paedophiles’ friends and those who do what they are told by the paedophiles’ friends.

The Chair of the Executive Committee of the James Pantyfedwyn Trust is Prof Derec Llwyd Morgan, the former VC of Aberystwyth University (see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’). Other Trustees include the most Rev John Davies, the Archbishop of Wales; Melda Grantham, the General Secretary of the Welsh Dept of Unitarian Churches; Richard Morris Jones, Chair of the Council of the National Eisteddfod; the Rev Judith Morris, the General Secretary of the Baptist Union of Wales; the Rev Meirion Morris, the General Secretary of the Presbytarian Church of Wales; the Rev Geraint Tudor, the General Secretary of Undeb yr Annibynwyr Cymraeg; Prof Jane Aaron; the Rev Dr R. Alun Evans, Minister and former Head of the BBC in Bangor (until 1996) and former President of the National Eisteddfod Court; Alun Charles, retired schools inspector and author; Dr Rhidian Griffiths, formerly of the National Library of Wales; Geraint R. Jones, former Chief Executive, Gwynedd County Council; David Gwynder Lewis, Chairman of Hunters and Frankau Group Ltd and Vice-Chairman of Hambros; Enid Lewis, finance manager, Cancer Research Wales; Wyn Penri Jones, formerly credit and commercial banking manager; Ken Richards, senior lecturer, Aberystwyth University; Roy Frederick Sharp, formerly Secretary Accountant of Alexanders Discount plc; Dr Eryn White, Reader in the Dept of History and Welsh History, Aberystwyth University.

Geraint R. Jones was Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council whilst the Council employed social workers who grossly abused mental health clients and were the colleagues of those who had run the paedophile gang. Nothing has improved re Gwynedd County Council. An article in the ‘Daily Post’ in  2014 announced the appointment of Dilwyn Williams as Chief Exec of Gwynedd, to succeed Harry Thomas. Williams had been promoted to the position of Chief Exec from his previous role as Corporate Director.

Dilwyn Williams was born in St Asaph, went to Ysgol Glan Clwyd and then to UCNW, where he did a degree in education. Williams later trained as an accountant. He has worked in local gov’t in Gwynedd since 1979. He was the Committee Clerk for the former Gwynedd County Council in Caernarfon (there was a reorganisation in 1996 after the first investigations into the abuse of children); then Williams worked in Dwyfor District Council’s Treasury Dept; in 1996 he became Head of Accountancy in Gwynedd County Council; then the Strategic Director for Resources; then the Council’s Corporate Director.

So Dilwyn Williams had been an insider throughout the paedophile years and the serial cover-ups and scandals. When he was appointed Chief Exec, Dilwyn remarked that ‘Gwynedd has a national reputation as a top performing council’ and that ‘Gwynedd was recently praised by the Auditor General for Wales for its strong financial leadership and effective planning for the future’.

Gwynedd was a completely dysfunctional Council with barely any ‘services’ up and running. Some years previously, an external inspection of Gwynedd Social Services damned them, stating that things were so dire that the Social Services did not understand the policies that it was supposed to be implementing and was not capable of improvement. What does a Council do in such a situation? Obvious. It gives the Director of Social Services responsible for the mess – one Gwenan Carrington – a job managing the community services for the paedophiles’ friends of Anglesey County Council, it refuses to investigate even the most serious of complaints, it sacks whistleblowers and tells everyone that it is ‘excellent’.

So who was the Auditor General for Wales who highly recommended the assortment of crooks and paedophiles’ friends that run Gwynedd County Council? It was Huw Vaughan Thomas.

Huw Vaughan Thomas was Chief Executive of Gwynedd County Council, 1991-96, whilst the paedophile gang operated within its children’s homes. Dilwyn Williams had spent happy years working in Gwynedd County Council while Huw was the CEO. In spite of running a Council whose entire children’s dept had been taken over by a paedophile gang, Huw has clocked up scores of public appointments since he stepped down as Chief Exec of Gwynedd. Not that his career leading local authorities came to an end – after the 1996 local gov’t reorganisation, Huw was appointed Chief Executive of Denbighshire County Council, where he remained for six years. Denbighshire was one of the County Councils which replaced Clwyd County Council – which disappeared in the local gov’t reorganisation days after the Jillings Report into the abuse of children in the care of Clwyd County Council was submitted (see post ‘It’s A Piece Of Cake…’).

In the 1980s Huw Vaughan Thomas worked for the Department of Employment. In 1986 he was the Department of Employment’s Director for Wales. Prior to that, in 1984 Vaughan Thomas had been the Dept of Employment’s Regional Director for the South West of England. Before being appointed to that post, Huw Vaughan Thomas had  already held a number of appointments in the Dept of Employment.

Tom King, the MP for Bridgwater, was Secretary of State for Employment, 16 Oct 1983 – 2 Sept 1985. Peter Morrison was Minister of State in the Dept of Employment, 13 June 1983 – 2 Sept 1985. Morrison was molesting kids in care in north Wales, Cheshire and in other locations.

Furthermore Tom King, my grandpa not only viewed you as an unprincipled vacuous career politician, but he always maintained that your fellow Tory MP for Taunton Edward Du Cann was a crook and that was years before Du Cann was done for tax evasion and subsequently bankrupted. My grandpa used to take the piss out of the Freemasons as well, but I always presumed that they’d lost their influence decades ago. Clearly not.

Here’s the ghost of Somerset past, rattling its chains in the direction of the old crooks who are still alive:

Here’s a stack of sausage rolls. The Bridgwater Tories always provided them at the buffets for Tom and Jane King, but poor old Jane was so mortified at the idea of a buffet provided by plebs that she famously confined herself to one sausage roll all evening.

If people in the constituency had known the contempt that Tom King and the rest of Thatcher’s Cabinet had for them, that would not have been a safe Tory seat. What about the Somerset builder who was a bit of a rough diamond then Lord King, who raised all that money for the Tories and did building work for the Party free of charge but was then frozen out because he was ‘uncouth’. Which he was, but Peter Morrison was molesting children and he was invited to Chequers.

Huw Vaughan Thomas was Private Secretary to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Employment at some point in the early to mid-1980s. I am wondering if the PUSS concerned was Peter Bottomley, who occupied that role, 1984-86.

Huw Vaughan Thomas, Peter Bottomley and Tom King all worked with Peter Morrison when Morrison was molesting children.  Edwina Currie and Rod Richards have since admitted that Morrison’s activities were widely known and extensively gossiped about in the Tory Party, that Thatcher was warned about his conduct but she ignored the warnings.

My post ‘The Turn Of The Screw’ describes how people known to me in Somerset, one of whom personally knew Tom King, received huge quantities of money from persons unknown during the early and mid-1990s in return for asking no questions about what was happening to me in north Wales.

Peter Bottomley’s wife Virginia was Health Secretary, 1992-95. It was Virginia who presided over the chaos in north Wales as no preparations were made for the care of mental health patients outside of hospitals, despite the proposed move to community care with the closure of long-stay hospitals. But then the North Wales Hospital Denbigh didn’t close down in the summer of 1995, although everyone was told that it did. Parts of it remained open, including Gwynfryn, the ‘mother and baby unit’. Virginia oversaw Dafydd building up a huge practice in which he flogged drugs to addicts, as well as running his PTSD scam, which paved the way for his ‘retirement’ in the summer of 1995. As part of the deal, Dafydd was told that if he ‘retired’, none of the very serious complaints about him would be followed up and he would be given the remit for providing ‘substance abuse services’ for north Wales. See post ‘The Evolution Of A Drugs Baron’ and ‘Feet In Chains’. Dafydd’s practice extended much further than north Wales, he was involved with criminality in Europe.

Virginia Bottomley is a former psychiatric social worker and her daughter is a Top Doctor. Like his wife, Peter Bottomley has found himself at the centre of the paedophiles’ friends activities throughout most of his career. He has been involved with MIND, NACRO, Christian Aid, the Monday Club, the Children’s Society, the Church of England and has held positions in the Dept of Employment, the DHSS and the N Ireland Office. Bottomley has been involved in mental health campaigning and with community initiatives in Lambeth. For further details of the interests and activities of the Bottomley family, see post ‘The Defence Of The Realm’.

Peter, if you and Ginny were working undercover to log the serious wrongdoing in these various bodies which were all facilitating the abuse of vulnerable people and the associated serious crime, I am not impressed. You did not stop what was going on and I and my friends have been intimidated and harassed for more than 30 years. Some of us were killed, one emigrated after an attempt to murder him and I am in hiding. Why did the security services ever bother to employ either of you? You really were crap.

Now, which one of the worthless specimens is going to cough regarding where the money came from to pay people to keep quiet about the gangsters who came after my friends and I? I note that David Hunt, a man who did so many favours for Dafydd and the paedophiles for so many years (see post ‘The Paedophiles’ Friends Of Cardiff North’), was the Secretary of State for Wales when someone opened the coffers.

Huw Vaughan Thomas’s wife Enid Rowlands is or was a Director of the North Wales Health Authority. Enid also holds or has held positions with BUPA and the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority. Huw and Enid’s son worked and might still work as an Auditor in his dad’s Dept. For details of the numerous public roles that Huw has occupied, see post ‘I Know Nuzzing…’. Details of Enid’s shenanigans, including those that resulted in Enid becoming embroiled in the public scandal which was ELWA, involving the waste of millions of pounds of public funds and conflicts of interest, see post ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’.

The paedophile gang hosted by Gwynedd County Council for so many years had links to the gang in west Wales and to a gang in south Wales. The gang in south Wales included Welsh language drama teacher and producer of Welsh language children’s programmes for S4C, John Owen, who abused scores of children at Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelin in Pontypridd and at drama and music events (see post ‘Yet More Inglorious Bastards’). Owen killed himself in Oct 2001 just before he was due to stand trial for a series of sexual assaults on children. John Owen completed in Bachelor of Education degree at Trinity College Carmarthen in 1974. Trinity College merged with St David’s Lampeter to form the University of Trinity Saint David’s in 2010.

Numerous serious complaints had been made about John Owen over a period of twenty years, but Mid-Glamorgan Education Authority and the WJEC had failed to take any action. Ron Davies had worked as an educational adviser for Mid-Glamorgan Education Authority while complaints about Owen were suppressed. In June 1983 Ron Davies was elected as the Labour MP for Caerphilly. Ron was about to be sworn in as Wales’s First Secretary (First Minister) upon the creation of the National Assembly when in Oct 1998 he was caught with his trousers down – or indeed off – on Clapham Common with a male prostitute called Boogie. It was admitted that many knew about Ron’s foibles (see post ‘Cottaging At Castle Gate’). Huw Vaughan Thomas and the Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council who preceded him, Ioan Bowen Rees, were both advisers to Ron and the civil servants in the Welsh Office regarding the creation of the National Assembly.

Lest anyone still thinks that I’m on the Grassy Knoll, Huw Vaughan Thomas was appointed Auditor General for Wales after the previous Auditor General for Wales, Jeremy Colman, was imprisoned for the possession of child porn (see post ‘The Reality Is, There Is No Problem’).

My post ‘They Think It’s All Over – It Is Now’ provided information regarding Gwynedd County Council’s dire track record on failing to protect children from sexually abusive staff in Gwynedd schools. The problems continue. In 2016, brothers Robyn and Dyfan Wheldon-Williams were suspended from their jobs as teachers after their arrests in 2015 for possessing and making indecent images of children. Robyn taught at Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen in Caernarfon and Dyfan taught at Ysgol y Moelwyn in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Robyn had been a co-presenter on S4C children’s science programme ATOM and worked for the National Eisteddfod and Bangor University. The brothers were convicted and from what I remember at least one of them was imprisoned.

Although it is true that people with worrying intentions can sometimes end up working with children in spite of the best screening procedures, in Wales it is happening again and again and again. But that is the inevitable consequence if people who have facilitated the biggest and most savage sex trafficking ring in UK history are systematically promoted to the most senior positions and whistleblowers are hounded out, even after the security services recorded and filmed what was going on. What did anybody expect was going to happen when Meri bloody Huws was promoted to senior roles in public life?

Dilwyn Williams and Meri Huws are both on salaries in excess of £100k. Wales has some of the lowest average salaries in the UK. I think that at the moment, the average salary in north Wales is still below £18k. That’s for people who are actually in full time work, which a great many people aren’t.

The motto of Gwerfyl’s alma mater at Lampeter was ‘The Word Of God Is The Best Teacher’.

Regular readers of this blog will know how much I challenge allegations that this mess is the sole preserve of ‘the Welsh’. It isn’t. To once again demonstrate this point, I’ll name a few more accessories, some of whom do have Welsh connections, but who don’t identify as Welsh and who have certainly never claimed to be defenders of language and nation.

Previous posts eg. ‘Reports Of Death Were Greatly Exaggerated’ and ‘Apocalypse Now’ detailed the skulduggery that surrounded me when I worked for the Cancer Research Campaign at Surrey University in 1988-89, at a time when the President of the BMA, Dr John Marks – who was the brother of my boss at Surrey, Prof Vincent Marks – was in full battle with the Health Secretary Ken Clarke. Those involved in the skulduggery were linked to a major research fraud which was exposed in 1990 and resulted in the death (presumed to be suicide) of Prof Tim McElwain. Dr Peter Mcguire, a former colleague of Dr Tony Francis, one of those facilitating the paedophile gang in north Wales, was part of the team which committed the fraud.

Although I worked in the Dept of Biochemistry at Surrey, I and my colleagues often attended sessions and seminars given by academics at Surrey from other Depts. One such person with whom we had doings was Professor Lewis Elton, father of the comedian Ben Elton.

Lewis Elton was a Jew, born in Tubingen to an academic family and moved with them to Prague in 1929 and from there to England in Feb 1939, to escape the Nazis. He naturalised as a British subject and changed his name by deed poll in June 1947. Elton was educated at Rydal School in Colwyn Bay and thereafter at Christ’s College, Cambridge, the Regent Street Poly, London and UCL. Elton received his PhD from UCL in 1950.

Elton was Professor of Physics at Battersea College of Technology, 1964-70. As the College completed its transformation into the University of Surrey (and its relocation from Battersea to Guildford) in 1970 Elton became Professor of Higher Education, a post he held until 1988. The reason that Lord Alf Robens, the then Chair of the National Coal Board, gave for not visiting Aberfan in the immediate aftermath of the Aberfan disaster in Oct 1966 was that he was instead going to attend a ceremony at the University of Surrey, where he would be formally become Chancellor (see post ‘Include Me Out’). Lewis Elton was probably at that ceremony.

In 1994 – the year following the end of the North Wales Police investigation into child abuse in the region which concluded that there was no evidence of a paedophile ring – Elton was appointed Professor of Higher Education at UCL, where he founded the Higher Education Research and Development Unit (now the Centre for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching). Elton was appointed Visiting Professor of Higher Education at Manchester University in Aug 2005. Sir Martin Harris was VC of Manchester University, 1992-04. Harris came from Wrexham and knew about Dafydd and the gang in north Wales.

Lewis Elton is a Fellow of the American Institute of Physics and a Fellow of the Society for Research into Higher Education. He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement award at the 2005 THES Awards, at which Baroness Helena Kennedy said ‘there is a polymath quality to this man that points to someone interested in educating the whole person’.

St Helena has worked extensively with Prof Nigel Eastman of St George’s Hospital Medical School, who colluded with Dafydd and the paedophile gang of north Wales (see post ‘Eve Was Framed – As Were A Lot Of Other People’). Helena worked in Tooks Court Chambers with Michael Mansfield. In 1993 I wrote to Mansfield about what was happening to me at the hands of Gwynedd Social Services, at the height of the publicity regarding a possible ‘VIP’ paedophile ring in north Wales. I received a one line reply. Mansfield lived in Wandsworth, just down the road from St George’s, where many St George’s staff lived. The Director of Education for Wandsworth, Donald Naismith, was a paedophile (see post ‘Another Episode Of Friends’) and Wandsworth Social Services were facilitating a sex trafficking gang in south London and in 1991, at least, were directly in contact and colluding with Dafydd, Tony Francis and Lucille Hughes (see post ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London…’).

The Lewis Elton Gallery at Guildford hosts regular exhibitions of paintings, photographs and sculpture. The Lewis and Mary Elton Art Collection is comprised of a donation of a collection of paintings and objets d’art which was made to Surrey University, including works by Picasso, Chagall, Klee and Cocteau. The gift was marked by an exhibition at The Lightbox Gallery, Woking, in Jan 2012.

Lewis Elton’s brother is the historian Sir Geoffrey Elton. Geoffrey also went to Rydal School and also worked there as assistant master in maths, history and German in the 1940s. It has been revealed that boys at Rydal were sexually abused by a small number of teachers for many years. Pupils who attended the school in the 1960s, 70s and 80s have spoken about this.

Geoffrey Elton served with the British Army Intelligence Corps, 1943-46 and studied history at UCL. Elton taught at the University of Glasgow and then Clare College, Cambridge where he was Regius Professor of Modern History, 1983-88. Pupils of his included John Guy, Diarmaid McCulloch, Susan Brigden and David Starkey. Elton was publication secretary of the British Academy, 1981-90 and served as President of the Royal Historical Society, 1972-76.

Geoffrey Elton was an admirer of Margaret Thatcher and Winston Churchill and a fierce critic of Marxist historians, who, he argued, were presenting seriously flawed interpretations of the past. Elton’s wiki states that he ‘had no use for those who seek history to make myths, to create laws to explain the past, or to produce theories such as Marxism’.

In the 1970s and 80s, the Welsh Labour historians argued that the Welsh middle classes had been responsible for a great deal of oppression of working people themselves, but rewrote their role in history by using the agencies of the Nonconformist Church and the press, constructing themselves as defenders of language and nationality.

Lewis Elton’s son Ben was born at UCH. Ben’s mum was an English teacher from Cheshire. The paedophile ring facilitated by Dafydd operated in north Wales/Cheshire and Shropshire. All these regions had a problem with the abuse of children stretching back decades, certainly as long ago as the 1950s. Ben is a third cousin of singer Olivia Newton-John. Elton’s mother was raised in the Church of England. At least one former Bishop of Chester has been identified as a child molester. Ben Elton grew up in Catford, south London, before moving with his family to Guildford in 1968.

Ben studied at Stillness Junior School and Godalming Grammar School, South Warwickshire College in Stratford-upon-Avon and Manchester University, where he studied drama. Dafydd’s mate Dr Bob Hobson relocated to Manchester University in 1974. Tony Francis worked at Manchester University in the mid-late 1970s, before he moved to north Wales. Ben Elton studied at Manchester at about that time. The generation of drama students at Manchester prior to Elton’s definitely colluded with the sexual exploitation of under-aged people.

Elton established a writing partnership with Richard Curtis, which produced, among other things, the ‘Blackadder series’, 1983-89. Elton and Curtis continued to work together on ‘Mr Bean’, 1990-95. They kept themselves busy throughout the years of fruitless investigations into the paedophile ring in north Wales/Cheshire, as the death toll of kids in care and psych patients in north Wales mounted.

Richard Curtis’s father was an executive for Unilever. It was Unilever who in 1992 provided the funding to Prof Fergus Lowe upon which Fungus built his empire at the School of Psychology. Numerous psychologists at Bangor University colluded with or were colleagues of the sex trafficking ring. Dafydd presided over the Dept of Psychology until the late 1980s, when Fungus overthrew him. The paedophiles and their friends were not removed or stopped, Fungus simply used his knowledge of their activities to bag dosh and wield power. It was how he landed all that money from Unilever.

For a short while in the 1970s Curtis lived in Warrington, Cheshire. Where there was organised abuse of children. Warrington was the location of Risley Remand Centre, where Dafydd’s victims were imprisoned – often after being fitted up – and where many were found dead (see post ‘Include Me Out’).

Curtis founded Comic Relief and Red Nose Day, which were robustly promoted by staff at Surrey University. Comic Relief has in the past featured a few of those celebs who no-one now admits to knowing because of their involvement with sex offending.

In 1994 Richard Curtis wrote the sitcom ‘The Vicar Of Dibley’ for Dawn French. Dawn French was born in Holyhead and went to Holyhead High School. Dawn French’s dad was in the RAF and was stationed at RAF Valley on Anglesey. Dr Malcolm Alison, one of those who was involved with the wrongdoing at Hammersmith Hospital/RPMS whom I knew in 1986-87, lived for a while at Valley. Malcolm Alison’s father was in the RAF and was stationed at Valley. French’s dad suffered with severe depression for years and sadly committed suicide in 1977. I don’t know if he was still living on Anglesey at the time, but even if he had by then moved on, the mental health services in north Wales obviously weren’t there for him.

Dawn French supports the Labour Party and married charidee worker Mark Bignell after she and Lenny Henry were divorced. Dawn and Mark live in Fowey, Cornwall, in a mansion with 40 rooms overlooking Readymoney Cove. She is Chancellor of Falmouth University.

Dawn: Dafydd and the gang were a bunch of murdering child abusers. You specialising in a brand of Wimmin’s Comedy pivoting around chocolate and lady vicars does not make up for your spinelessness in providing associates of that gang with good PR, just when people could no longer stomach the number of dead bodies of Empowered Service Users who were turning up and began demanding a public inquiry.

Curtis also organised the ‘Make Poverty History’ Live 8 concerts with Bob Geldof in 2005. Geldof’s wife Paula Yates had by then died of an overdose, despite being in the care of the expensive Top Docs at The Priory. A number of the Top Docs at St George’s who colluded with Dafydd et al ended up working at The Priory.

Paula was born in Colwyn Bay, lived in Llandudno and then in the village of Rowen. She went to school at Penrhos College – the girls’ school located next to Rydal School – and Ysgol Aberconwy. Lord Wyn Roberts who spent decades concealing the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the gang (see post ‘The Cradle Of Filth’) lived in Rowen.

Paula Yates was known for being rather mouthy and aggressive and died in Sept 2000, seven months after the Waterhouse Report was published. When young she had been a groupie and a ‘Penthouse’ model. If anyone was at all concerned that Paula might name a few high profile people who never had anything to do with the paedophile ring in north Wales which Sir Ronnie Waterhouse managed to admit did exist but which only consisted of a few sheep-shagging social workers and teachers, they didn’t need to worry once Paula was found dead. Paula’s boyfriend Michael Hutchence had been found hanging dead in Nov 1997. Which was after former kids in care had given evidence to the Waterhouse Inquiry of the most serious abuse in children’s homes in north Wales. They were called liars by Ronnie and the Inquiry lawyers and by much of the UK media. Paula was convinced that Hutchence had not killed himself, as the inquest concluded. She was denounced as irrational. It was after Hutchence’s death that Paula became seriously distressed and ended up in the hands of the Top Docs.

Paula’s inquest concluded that she had died from an accidental heroin overdose. Her friends have always disputed this. The coroner who held Paula’s inquest was Dr Paul Knapman, who trained at St George’s and has been wheeled out to conduct the inquests of many cases of dead celebs and others that could cause embarrassment, including that of Sandra Rivett, Lord Lucan’s nanny. When I worked in medical research I was told frankly that Knapman was corrupt. See previous posts for info on the numerous worrying cases with which Knapman has been involved.

Some two years after Paula’s death, the paedophile’s friends in north Wales attempted to fit me up for a serious crime, for which they were telling everyone that I would be imprisoned for seven years. The case collapsed after numerous Angels/NHS staff perjured themselves (see post ‘Interesting Happenings In The Legal System’). The man who spearheaded the witch hunt was Alun Davies, who was the then manager of the mental health services in Gwynedd. Davies is not from north Wales, he is from the Rhondda. He is not Welsh speaking and thus has a slightly different profile to most paedophiles’ friends in north Wales. Davies began his career as the most lowly of pen pushers in the NHS years ago and in private he is very offensive about people from north Wales. Neither did he like living in north Wales, he thinks that its too far away from France where he likes to visit.

Dafydd had dealings with Top Docs in France, John Allen owned a villa there to which kids in care from Bryn Alyn were taken ‘for holidays’ and Elfed Roberts, the corrupt senior police officer who was appointed as Chair of the NW Wales NHS Trust after he left the North Wales Police under a cloud, used to holiday at the Chateua de Cop Choux near the Loire Valley, with his Top Cop mates.

Davies seems to have arrived at Gwynedd Health Authority in the early 1980s. So why would a thick, corrupt man from the Rhondda who did not like people from north Wales and who didn’t want to live in north Wales, relocate to the endemically corrupt Gwynedd Health Authority, at a time when employees of Gwynedd Health Authority were facilitating a huge trafficking ring, which had links with and was being concealed by Top Docs and politicians in south Wales? Who had good reason to conceal it, because George Thomas, Thatcher’s friend and the Labour MP from the Rhondda, was abusing children (see post ‘It Wasn’t On Our Radar’). Thomas was Speaker of the House, 1976-83 and was then given a peerage.

Scream if you want to go faster BMA! There are more blog posts to come. You’d better organise a ‘Save Our NHS From The Cuts’ march through London on a weekly basis.

What rational person would become involved with serious organised crime to protect a man who dressed up like that?

None of the north Wales perjurers were ever investigated. Gwynedd Social Services and the DES then attempted to have me struck off the teaching register on the grounds that I was mad and a danger to children. A junior Minister in Blair’s Gov’t cleared my name. He was subsequently named in the media as having ‘allowed paedophiles to return to teaching’. Some five years later, the wife of one of his close friends – who had also challenged Dafydd and the paedophiles – developed a brain tumour. She died after the Walton Centre found that there was nothing that they could do about that brain tumour. The Walton Centre was run and staffed by associates of Dafydd.

The man who cleared me – as well as a number of other wrongly accused teachers – was about the only member of Blair’s Gov’t who was not given a peerage. Blair was said ‘not to trust him’.

Some two years ago I discovered that days after the court case against me fell apart, my PNC record had been unlawfully amended and a forged certificate of indictment was found in the possession of Chester Court, stating that I had pleaded guilty to ‘violent disorder’. I have never been charged with violent disorder. I contacted the legal services division of the North Wales Police about this nearly two years ago now but I have heard nothing.

It was some months after the court case collapsed that John McTernan’s brother-in-law stole my computer.

Here’s a Pretty Straight Kind Of Guy, but I don’t trust him:

Tony Blair crop.jpg

This Pretty Straight Kind Of Guy and his wife Cherie – a QC and judge – are friends with Michael Beloff QC, who’s dad Lord Max Beloff was friends with Ioan Bowen Rees, the former Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council. Bowen Rees was Chief Exec throughout many of the years of child abuse and serious organised crime. Before Bowen Rees was Chief Exec of Gwynedd, he was County Secretary for Dyfed County Council, while a paedophile ring operated in the region.

Cherie was Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University, 1999-07. My post ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’ details the activities of paedophiles’ friend, the former Angel Dr Dee Gray and her request that I should write a media article making fallacious allegations against the VC of Bangor University, who was at the time under attack from the paedophiles’ friends. Dee grew up in Liverpool, trained as an Angel in Liverpool and later did a law degree at Liverpool Poly, which evolved into Liverpool John Moores University.

On 20 July 1990, Michael Carr, the MP for Bootle who had fought Militant, died at Walton Hospital after being refused appropriate care and turned away following a heart attack. Carr’s family fought for a prosecution, but files travelled back and forth between the DPP and other people, yet no charges resulted (see post ‘News From Sicily’). Walton Hospital was known to be run by Militant. Michael Carr had been MP for just 57 days.

Derek Hatton was the high profile Militant supporting Deputy Leader of Liverpool City Council in the 1980s. The Leader of the Council, 1983-86 was John Hamilton who received far less media coverage than Degsy. John Hamilton’s wiki entry describes him as ‘much respected’ and it was asserted by many than Degsy was the power behind the throne and that John Hamilton was a figurehead. Hamilton was a school teacher, a Quaker, a magistrate and a ‘lifelong bachelor’. In Jan 2000 Hamilton was nearly killed in a house fire. The Waterhouse Report was published the following month, so no doubt as he lay there in agony from serious burns, Hamilton would not have felt in the least bit inclined to dispute Ronnie Waterhouse’s assertion that there were no high profile people from outside of the region involved in the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal. Even if other Quakers had urged him to speak out should he knew differently, such as the Quaker Gethin Evans who was a senior manager of Gwynedd County Council’s children’s homes when kids in those homes were abused and trafficked, or Quaker Dr Paul Nickson, the Bethesda GP who colluded with the abuse of children and mental health patients. Paul Nickson eventually left Bethesda and joined a practice in Liverpool. I got to know Paul Nickson because Dr D.G.E. Wood recommended him to me as a GP when I moved to Bethesda. At the time I had no idea that Wood was facilitating a trafficking ring and was colluding with people unknown to me to cause me serious harm. I didn’t realise that Paul Nickson was colluding with serious crime for a long while either, I just thought that he was a bit flaky and overwhelmed by the thugs who ran the mental health services.

Nickson’s colleagues in Bethesda surgery were widely regarded as being hopeless, but in the 1990s a much more competent GP called Dr Oliver worked with them for a while. Patients often requested Dr Oliver because he was perceived to be so much better. Dr Oliver left for a new life in Australia either just before, or during, the Waterhouse Inquiry.

Among his many responsibilities, John Hamilton was Chairman of the Governors at Liverpool Poly, which later became John Moores University. For further details regarding John Hamilton, see post ‘I Warn You…’.

Tony Francis’s acquaintance from their student days in Cardiff, the Windbag, made much of fighting Militant and confronted Degsy at the Labour Party Conference in Oct 1985. Degsy just yelled abuse at him. Over the following years I don’t remember the Windbag commenting upon the unfortunate death of Michael Carr or on John Hamilton going up in flames. As far as I can work out Windbag, it all ended up in the ‘grotesque chaos’ of an aspiring Labour PM colluding with a gang of child molesters who killed witnesses because he thought that supporting the NHS was a vote winner.

In April 2014 St Geldof’s daughter Peaches was found dead from a heroin overdose.

Richard Curtis’s former girlfriend is Anne, now Baroness, Jenkin, who is married to Bernard Jenkin. Bernard Jenkin’s father was Patrick Jenkin, who was Thatcher’s Secretary of State for Social Services, 1979-81, when his Dept was concealing the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophile gang.

Curtis’s 2009 film ‘ The Boat That Rocked’ starred Rhys Ifans from north Wales. Rhys Ifans is a mate of Gruff Rhys, the son of Ioan Bowen Rees, the former Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council. As the investigations into child abuse in north Wales began, Ioan’s son became an international rock star (see post ‘The International Language of Screaming’). Rhys Ifans began his career at Theatr Clwyd, the paedophiles’ friends folly (see post ‘Workers’ Play Time’). Rhys and Gruff are networked into the crowd of Welsh rock stars which included Huw Bunford, who was a teacher at Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelin, where John Owen abused pupils.

Curtis wrote Roald Dahl’s ‘Esio Trot’, a BBC television adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s novel. The film starred Judi Dench and was broadcast by the BBC on 1 Jan 2015. Judi Dench is the Patron of the elite choir, the St James’s Singers, of which Professor Robert Bluglass and his wife Kerry are leading lights. Bluglass is a mate of Dafydd’s who concealed and colluded with the trafficking gang in north Wales in 1989 as well as on other occasions (see post ‘Enter Professor Robert Bluglass OBE’).

Curtis’s forthcoming film is currently underway. It is being directed by Danny Boyle – who went to UCNW (Bangor University) in the 1970s, when Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends ran the institution.

Richard Curtis is married to Emma Freud, daughter of the former Liberal MP, Clement. Clement Freud was not so long ago exposed as a sex offender who’s victims included children. Freud will have known about Jeremy Thorpe and Cyril Smith’s crimes.

In 2012, Curtis was one of the British cultural icons selected by the artist Sir Peter Blake to appear in a new version of his well-known piece of art work – the cover of ‘The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lovely Hearts Club Band. This new version was created for a special birthday celebration of Blake’s life at Wayne Hemingway’s Vintage festival at Boughton House, Northamptonshire in July 2012. When Hemingway ran ‘Red Or Dead’, one of those involved in the business was the son of Prof Geoffrey Chamberlain of St George’s Hospital Medical School and later of Swansea University, who concealed a paedophile ring in south London and the crimes of Dafydd et al in north Wales (see post ‘Now Then…’). The special birthday celebration of Blake’s life was held shortly after Operation Pallial was launched.

In 1989 Curtis’s writing partner Ben Elton won a Royal Television Society writers’ award. My post ‘The Turn Of The Screw’ describes the intimidation and harassment to which two of my friends who worked in the media were subjected after they witnessed what was happening to me in north Wales and wanted to make a film about it. My friends worked for the Royal Television Society and the BBC and were forced out of their jobs in 1991.

In 1991 Ben Elton wrote the play ‘Silly Cow’ for Dawn French. It was about in 1991 that one of Dafydd’s female relatives screamed ‘Oh sod off you silly cow’ at me. I now know that the exchange – if one of Dafydd’s family hurling abuse at one constitutes an exchange – was recorded by the security services. Another relative of Dafydd’s had told me a few days before that Dafydd had ‘told them all about me’ and that they enjoyed shouting insults at and taking the piss out of Dafydd’s patients. That conversation was recorded by the security services as well. But then so were the most serious abuses of kids in care and patients.

We are now being told that Operation Pallial is investigating the historical abuse of children in north Wales. Perhaps whoever is leading that investigation just ought to ask MI5 to hand over the hours and hours of recordings which were made years ago and which clearly showed what was going on and who was doing it. I can only presume that this hasn’t happened because the response from the world will be ‘you lot watched this going on and did not stop it?’

What did you do MI5, have a chat with the Royal Colleges, the BMA and the GMC over dinner in the Athenauem and suggest that perhaps in ooh five years time, perhaps ‘self-regulation of the profession’ should be perhaps reviewed, to be followed over the next few years by perhaps endless discussions regarding how the tiny number of ‘rogue doctors’ should be identified? Meanwhile the bodies piled up in north Wales and people tried to kill us. Oh well, at least we had a laugh when we took the piss out of Dafydd, it wasn’t much, but it seems to be more than anyone else did.

Prior to 1987, Ben Elton was involved with Red Wedge, the Labour Party supporting group of entertainers who campaigned to get the Windbag elected as PM. That was the Windbag who knew Tony Francis, who concealed the abuses of Dafydd, Francis and the associated gang as well as the sex offences committed by George Thomas and who’s wife came from Holyhead and who when still a girl, personally knew Lord Cledwyn – who concealed the crimes of Dafydd et al (see post ‘The Cradle Of Filth’).

In 2006 ‘The Times’ published an article entitled ‘A Lethal Bully That Must Be Tackled’, about Glenys’s good works. It’s OK, Murdoch, you’ve not published a word about the First Family of Troughing colluding with a gang of child molesters, so I’ve written about it on this blog. I haven’t even had to deal with an enormous industrial dispute which was only won with the assistance of Thatch’s trade union legislation.

Ben Elton was very much the comedian of the 1980s and 90s, but a newer face whom I have found to be of interest is Sacha Baron Cohen. Baron Cohen was born in Hammersmith, west London. His mother, Daniella Naomi, was born in Israel. His father, Gerald Baron Cohen (1932–2016), a clothing store owner, was born in London and raised in Wales. Baron Cohen was raised Jewish. He is fluent in Hebrew as well as his native English. Baron Cohen’s father’s family were Ashkenazi Jews who moved to Pontypridd, Wales and London and his mother’s family are German Jews. His paternal grandfather, Morris Cohen, had added ‘Baron’ to his surname.

There is a long-standing Jewish community in south Wales and sadly in the latter half of the twentieth century, some of them were concealing the crimes of Dafydd and the gang and related gangs. They included Leo Abse, Dannie Abse and Professor Sir William Asscher. Greville Janner’s father Barnett Janner was a south Wales lawyer until he relocated to Leicester. I don’t for one moment believe that Jewish people are any more likely to be associated with sexual abuse and crime than any other cohort; the phenomenon will be that of unscrupulous people using every network available to them to keep themselves out of trouble. There were many members of Thatcher’s Gov’t who were Jewish, indeed this was the subject of much overt anti-semitic comment relating to ‘Jewish bankers’ at the time. No doubt their influence and connections were also sought by those we know and love.

For example, Leon Brittan, Home Secretary, 1983-85 and later someone who held many leading roles in the European Commission, most definitely concealed the abuse of children and was the centre of allegations that he abused young people himself. Leon Brittan was born in London, the son of Rebecca and his father Joseph Brittan was a Top Doctor. Brittan’s parents were Lithuanian Jews who had migrated to Britain before WWI. Brittan was educated at The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was President of the Cambridge Union Society and Chairman of the Cambridge University Conservative Association. Sir Samuel Brittan, the economics journalist, was his brother. The former Conservative MP Malcolm Rifkind and the music producer Mark Ronson, were cousins.

The above paragraph alone tells us much about how networks can be used.

Sacha Baron Cohen was educated at The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School. Vanessa Feltz, who is also Jewish, went to The Haberdashers’ Aske’s Girls’ School. My post ‘Dates For Your Diary’ described how Feltz achieved sudden stardom in 1994, just when Dafydd et al in north Wales were sending up distress flares. Feltz was married to a surgeon, Michael Kurer, who when Feltz shot to fame overnight, had recently worked with a Top Doc who for years had been a leading light at St George’s Hospital Medical School. In the PR hype which surrounded Feltz, there was as much attention paid to her Nice Young Doctor husband as there was to her. The Nice Young Doctor left Feltz some years later after discovering the Joy of Sex with one of his junior doctors. I suspect that many of those involved in the propelling of Vanessa to stardom also discovered the joy of cheques, as ‘Private Eye’ once alleged of Tony Blair.

There was of course another Nice Young Doctor from a previous era who was personally known to some of the Top Docs in north Wales, who believed that his bedside manner would convince the nation that he was fit to be PM and who, when he did work as a Nice Young Doctor, was the research registrar for William Sargant, one of the maddest Top Docs of the 20th century who conducted reckless experiments upon his patients, some of whom died as a result. Why this was never spoken about in political circles I don’t know, because it was no secret in medicine.

Baron Cohen went to Christ’s College, Cambridge, graduating in 1993 – the year that the North Wales Police closed their investigation into child abuse in the region. Sacha Baron Cohen achieved fame in his incarnation as Ali G and caused much entertainment, particularly as a result of him being crude when meeting unsuspecting people, some of whom obviously didn’t know the meaning of the Viz-like phrases which Ali G was using in conversation with them. Then there was Bruno, a male model who some people found just a bit worrying. The next character developed by Baron Cohen was Borat.

Borat was a Muslim from Kazakhstan, who preyed on women sexually, was violently anti-semitic, drank stewed mare’s milk and sung a song called ‘Throw The Jew Down The Well’. Borat caused deep offence among cohorts who actually knew anything about Kazakhstan and a major diplomatic spat between Kazakhstan and the UK arose because of Baron Cohen’s harmless fun. I knew a British academic who was at the time one of the very few who was working with Kazakhstan. He was very tolerant by nature but he told me that in his view, Baron Cohen was an intelligent man who knew precisely how many diplomatic problems his characterisation of Borat would cause, but had shamelessly created the persona to appeal to a certain part of the Jewish community in the US. Having taken the time to read about Borat and the marketing of Borat, I suspect that academic was correct.

At the height of Borat’s popularity in the UK, a student from Kazakhstan was registered for a PhD at Bangor University, in the School of Healthcare Sciences, a School famed for the racism of the Angels who worked within. The School of Healthcare Sciences gratefully accepted the considerable fees that this student paid but virtually ignored her, except for to enquire where she was from. When she told them, the standard response was for the Angels to squeal ‘Ooh Borat’ and begin talking about stewed mare’s milk or chucking Jewish people down wells. I met this student after she’d been in Bangor for about three months. She asked me who a man called Borat was, because she couldn’t understand why the staff of the School of Healthcare Sciences were so insulting about people from Kazakhstan and constantly made references to a Mr Borat, of whom she had never heard.

Sacha Baron-Cohen has a cousin, Simon. Simon is a clinical psychologist who has links to the School of Psychology at Bangor University. At the very time when the Angels employed as tutors in the School of Healthcare Sciences – one of that School’s ‘areas of expertise’ is cultural competence and the delivery of healthcare across different nations and cultures – were screaming with laughter at a student whom they believed lived on mare’s milk and nothing else, Simon arrived at the School of Psychology by invitation to give seminars.

Sacha Baron Cohen has raised money for Comic Relief. On 28 Dec 2015, Baron Cohen and his wife Isla Fisher donated £335,000 to ‘Save the Children’ as part of a programme to vaccinate children in Northern Syria against measles and the same amount to the ‘International Rescue Committee’, also aimed at helping Syrian refugees.

The Syrian refugees are still having a terrible time. The person who is killing them trained and worked as a Top Doctor between 1992 and 1994 in the Western Eye Hospital, London (managed by Imperial College Healthcare Trust).

‘Ooh I feel so much better just for talking to you doctor.’

‘Now don’t worry dear, we’ll look after you.’

Bashar al-Assad in Russia (2015-10-21) 08.jpg

Readers who took an interest in my posts regarding the serious wrongdoing that was prevailing at St George’s Hospital Medical School in the 1980s and 90s, including on the part of my former boss Malcolm Pearce and the Head of Dept Prof Geoffrey Chamberlain, will have noticed that it was in 1994 that Bashir al-Assad was recalled to Syria from London, after his brother was killed in a car accident. The Top Docs – and of course the UK Gov’t – will have known that al-Assad would be the next President of Syria and they’ll have predicted that he won’t have much time for human rights issues once he was in office. It was in 1994 that Chamberlain and Pearce committed the research fraud which if it hadn’t have blown up in their face because they were caught, would have made them world famous. And in an ideal position to gun down a former research assistant of theirs if she ever tried to publish anything about the wrongdoing at St George’s or the wrongdoing of Dafydd et al (see post ‘They Are MYRIAD, They Are Legion’). Or indeed the wrongdoing at Hammersmith Hospital, where she had completed her MSc – the Hammersmith which became part of Imperial College.

The Top Docs in London didn’t trust me because I had these terrible habits of making friends with the lower orders as well as with overseas staff and students. Including Top Docs from the Middle East. Of which there were a great many at Hammersmith, who were being treated very badly.

The President of the International Rescue Committee is David Miliband, who’s dad Ralph was friends with some of those who knew about the organised abuse of vulnerable people in north Wales (see post ‘The Village’) and David Miliband’s Uncle Harry was a Top Doctor who’s colleagues colluded with Dafydd. Uncle Harry might even have known Bashir al-Assad. He’d certainly have known people who did.

Well David, you’re not getting very far with your efforts re Syria are you? Did Hillary Clinton or someone think that you might, what with your hotline to Uncle Harry et al?

Paedophiles’ friends in high places: when your hands are drenched in blood and someone has found out all about it, it’s time to leave public life. Even if that someone is only one woman with a laptop, a good memory and 10,000 incriminating documents.

Simon Baron-Cohen is Professor of Developmental Psychopathology at Cambridge University. He is the Director of the University’s Autism Research Centre. In 1985 Baron-Cohen formulated the mindblindness theory of autism. In 1997, he formulated the feotal sex steroid theory of autism. Baron-Cohen has also made major contributions to the fields of typical cognitive sex differences, autism prevalence and screening, autism genetics, autism neuroimaging, autism and technical ability, and synaesthesia.

Baron-Cohen completed a BA at New College, Oxford and an M Phil in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, where many of those who facilitated the sex trafficking gang in north Wales passed through. Staff at the Institute of Psychiatry spent years concealing Dafydd and the gang. Baron-Cohen completed a PhD at UCL; his doctoral research was in collaboration with his supervisor Uta Frith. Uta Frith was a colleague of those who concealed the crimes of Dafydd et al; she was at the Institute of Psychiatry at the same time as some of the gang in north Wales. Uta Frith has worked with Sarah-Jayne Blakemore, who has collaborated with Professor Mark Williams on Mindfulness research (see post ‘They Are MYRIAD, They Are Legion’). Mark Williams’s Mindfulness work is the result of a research fraud which he carried out when he worked at Bangor with Dafydd et al (see post ‘The Biggest Expert Of The Lot’).

Simon Baron-Cohen married Bridget Lindley, a family rights lawyer, in 1987. Lindley was the Family Right’s Group’s Principal Legal Adviser and Chief Executive. She was a member of the expert group advising the GMC on their revised child protection guidance Protecting Children and Young People: the responsibilities of doctors (2012). I do not know the stance that Lindley took on child protection, but she had worked in the field since 1983. She will have known about the widespread sexual exploitation of children in care and how the mental health system colludes with this. Lindley will have known about the gang in north Wales and I bet she knew about Dafydd and the roles played by Bangor University and of course the Big Boys at the Maudsley, at UCL, at St George’s and many other places. She will have known about Jimmy Savile and will have known that Trumpers, the former Mayor of Cambridge, was the Minister responsible for appointing Savile to the management of Broadmoor (see post ’95 Glorious Years!’).

What’s the betting that Bridget Lindley had many conversations with Simon Baron-Cohen about these matters?

Bridget died suddenly and unexpectedly in 2016. I can find no references to the cause of death.

Simon Baron-Cohen has three children, the eldest of whom is screenwriter and director Sam Baron. Baron-Cohen’s surname includes a hyphen – which is not the case with other members of his family – because of a typographical error in his first professional article; he never had the error corrected.

Baron-Cohen’s work has been soundly critiqued on the basis of its ‘neurosexism’. It is certainly difficult to read Baron-Cohen’s work without wondering whether he has based his ideas of gender on the content of women’s magazines.
Baron-Cohen serves as Vice-President of the National Autistic Society (UK) and was the 2012 Chairman of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Guideline Development Group for adults with autism. He has served as Vice-President of the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR). Baron-Cohen is co-editor in chief of the journal ‘Molecular Autism’. He is President-Elect of INSAR and Chair of the Psychology Section of the British Academy.

So Baron-Cohen is someone who’s career has been dedicated to promoting certain views and explanations of autism which have come to dominate the field, in spite of concerns that his theories do not stand up to analysis. He also sits on NICE, so determines how Gov’t funds and supports autism research. Mark Williams has followed exactly the same business model with Mindfulness.

They both Know About Dafydd.

Another two comedians who I think might know a bit about the subject of this post are David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, who constantly sailed close to the wind with their ‘laddishness’ but who’s careers never died a death. Frank Skinner spent a number of years in the early 1980s as an unemployed alcoholic living in the West Midlands. So Frank will have known much about the life of those having a hard time in that part of the world in at the time. Brown and I found out about this too, because Brown went to university in Birmingham during those years and we found much out about corruption in the welfare services and civic life in Birmingham. Quite a lot of which was linked to the wrongdoing in north Wales.

Now for a little mystery which I have come across in John Major’s autobiography. Major mentions that in the midst of the allegations of ‘sleaze’ on the part of members of his Gov’t, in Jan 1994, the wife of Malcolm Caithness, Major’s Minister of Transport, killed herself.

Major’s problems with sleaze followed his famous ‘Back to Basics’ speech, which was just asking for trouble really when he was concealing Dafydd et al. The sleaze revelations began with David Mellor – someone who knew about Morrison and north Wales and Greville Janner and Frank Beck in Leicester – and snowballed. Major doesn’t seem to have asked himself why so many of his Ministers were being caught out, some very obviously as a result of stings. I am asking myself why the real time bomb underneath Major didn’t explode, particularly as the security services were watching everyone involved – Dafydd, Peter Morrison and co. I can only conclude that there was collusion at the highest levels. If service users with a sense of humour could ring Dafydd up from public phone boxes and discover serious crime on a Europe-wide level, I’m sure that someone could have set up a sting re Dafydd. It’s not as if he’d have ever noticed, not with the crazed lifestyle that he led. This was a man who believed that a Dr Hashish Psychosis was ringing him up from Bombay for his opinion, surely the security services could have done better than that. It is tempting to think that they didn’t need to because we were doing it, but people were trying to kill us, so leaving a group of service users to fight international gangsters wasn’t the best idea that anyone ever had.

The suicide of Malcolm Caithness’s wife took place in Jan 1994. The month in which Clwyd County Council set up the Jillings Investigation and the month in which yet another service user with drug and alcohol problems and with links to Bryn Estyn, Peter Wynne, was found hanging dead in his flat in Wrexham. On 9 June 1994, Matt Arnold died of an ‘unspecified blood disease’ and on 13 June 1994, the trial of Peter Howarth and Paul Wilson on sexual abuse charges begun. So Howarth and Wilson must have been charged before Malcolm Caithness’s wife was found dead.

Up in north Wales, Dafydd et al continued to do all they could to have me banged up. Previous blog posts have detailed the constant accusations and arrests, the perjury, the planting of evidence to demonstrate that I had committed crimes that no-one even told me that I was alleged to have committed, but which were nonetheless all being diligently recorded in writing and sent to the MDU lawyers.

I can find only scant information about the death of Lady Diana Caroline Coke. Everybody was gobsmacked when she died but I can find no details of how she killed herself. She had red hair and clear skin and liked riding horses and driving at high speed and that is about all that has been written about her.

Malcolm Ian Sinclair, 20th Earl of Caithness is a Conservative member of the Lords, one of the remaining hereditary peers. He is also 20th Lord Berriedale, 15th Baronet Sinclair, of Canisbay, Co. Caithness, Nova Scotia and Chief of Clan Sinclair. He is the Chief Executive of the Clan Sinclair Trust.

Sinclair was educated at Blairmore School, Aberdeenshire (then Marlborough College) and the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.

Malcolm Sinclair served as a House of Lords Gov’t Whip under Thatch, 1984-85. He then moved to the Dept of Transport as a junior Minister, serving until 1986, when he became Minister of State at the Home Office which was mired in corruption under Home Secretary Douglas Hurd (see posts ‘Security, Security’ and ‘Additional Security’). Dafydd and the gang in north Wales did what they wanted, kids in care and service users who had been fitted up for crimes were being sent to the bear pit which was Ashworth Hospital and were regularly being found dead in Risley Remand Centre, unless they were imprisoned in the dungeon at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh.

It was in April 1986 that my housemate Anne was killed. Anne had witnessed what happened to me at the hands of the Top Docs and I have been told that she was killed by the paedophiles’ friends. Anne died in a car crash on a lane in Shropshire as she drove to a friend’s wedding. Our friend Geoff was a passenger in the car and was left severely brain damaged. I have recently been given accounts of conversations that were held in our house in Llandegfan in the days before Anne died and the names of friends who visited us and stayed over. We were not aware that anyone was listening to or watching us.

Douglas Hurd had links with the security services.

  • Douglas Hurd so hungover on Irish trip he had to be walked ...

In 1988, Malcolm Sinclair was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Environment and in 1989, he became Paymaster General. In 1990, Sinclair was appointed Minister of State at the Foreign Office and then, in 1992, back to the Dept of Transport.

Sinclair married Diana Caroline Coke in 1975.

With the passage of the House of the Lords Act 1999, Sinclair, along with most other hereditary peers, lost his automatic right to sit in the House of Lords. However, under Blair’s fudge, Sinclair was elected as one of the 90 representative peers designed under the provisions of the Act to remain in the House of Lords. I haven’t had time to look at the backgrounds of all 90 hereditary peers who remained in the Lords, but of the ones that I have researched, every one of them had inside information about the Westminster Paedophile Ring. In domains other than the Lords, Blair systematically promoted people who had concealed the Westminster Paedophile Ring to high office. Sinclair has since blocked further reform of the Lords, tabling ‘wrecking’ amendments to a draft Bill to abolish by-elections for hereditary peers, proposed by Lord Grocott in 2018. Bruce Grocott is a mate of Blair’s who was given a peerage after loyally keeping quiet about organised abuse and the associated crime (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part II’).

In Jan 1994, Sinclair resigned from his post at the Ministry of Transport following the suicide of Diana. In 2004, he married Leila C. Jenkins in Rosslyn Chapel, whom he’d met at Ascot. Sinclair filed for divorce a year later.

Sinclair’s children are Lady Iona Alexandra Sinclair (b. 1978) and Alexander James Richard Sinclair, Lord Berriedale (b. 1981).

Here’s Malcolm Sinclair looking rough in his official portrait:

I have blogged about the very close relationship between those up to their eyes in research fraud and wrongdoing in the London medical schools and Big Pharma. The representatives of Big Pharma used to prostrate themselves before the shysters of Hammersmith, St George’s etc. Furthermore Big Pharma used to like employing attractive young women with PhDs as reps, because they were called Dr so sounded credible but as one member of staff at St George’s observed bitterly, ‘they’re just tarts to slut around old doctors’. He couldn’t have landed such a job himself, not just because he didn’t have a PhD but because he was male, enormous and in his late 40s. However there was more than a bit of truth in what he said. Another man who finished his PhD in biochemistry told me that he wouldn’t be working for a drug company because ‘I’ll spend all my time licking doctors arses and I’m not doing that’.

‘Your life in their hands! Ah, the doctors they were wonderful. You can’t complain can you.’ You bet you can’t, if you do you’ll never work again and you’ll die from a treatable condition.

When I was at Hammersmith/RPMS, at one drug company fest Professor Sir Nicholas Wright didn’t bother to listen to any of the presentations or read any of the literature, he just turned up, had a really good lunch and buggered off again. People banged on about how outrageously rude Wright was and how he only turned up for the lunch, which was ironic because it was the only reason why they went. A drug company would never turn up without a supply of wine and grub because no-one would ever attend.

There was only one person who was genuinely interested in the drug companies on the occasion on which Nick Wright had a good lunch and that was one of the postgrads who was looking for a job. She was desperate not to work in a medical school again – she was a mature student who had spent a few years in medical research, as had her husband – because she said that the wrongdoing was so great that she could no longer stomach it.  She did bag a job, on the basis of the toadying towards Hammersmith Hospital/RPMS on the part of Big Pharma that day. This person went to work for a company called the Sera Lab. I can’t find any trace of them but I haven’t had time to really dig yet. The Sera Lab have obviously metamorphosed into a different company, but those who toadied in 1987 will be in the system somewhere. The person who bagged the job with them had so much dirt on the London medical schools that if she wrote a blog like this, UK medicine would implode. Which might well have been why the Sera Lab snapped her up.

This man was the most high profile Top Doc at Hammersmith Hospital at the time:

Dr Bob became Lord Bob in 1995. The year that Malcolm Pearce was struck off and that Geoffrey Chamberlain – who was a mate of Lord Bob’s – got away scot free. 1995 was the year in which Peter Morrison and Bing Spear, the corrupt Home Office mandarin who served Dafydd so well (see post ‘Little Things Hitting Each Other’), were found dead within days of each other. The year in which Dafydd ‘retired’ (but didn’t), the year in which the North Wales Hospital ‘closed down’ (but didn’t). In 1995 Nicola Davies QC – now Dame Nicola –  after reviewing the police paperwork relating to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal (all of which from 1989 onward was missing) decided that a Public Inquiry would not be in the public interest. However, just to be on the safe side, Sir Ronnie Waterhouse altered his retirement plans, which meant that he could conduct a ‘farewell tour’ of his colleagues the paedophiles’ friends in 1995, without having to worry that one year later William Hague would tell Ronnie that he would be conducting a Public Inquiry into their wrongdoing.

Lord Bob had dabbled a little bit in TV before 1995, but gosh the BBC really embraced Lord Bob after that.

Yet another person who knew about the wrongdoing at St George’s Hospital Medical School is Professor John Dormandy. John Dormandy is a vascular surgeon who specialises in the treatment of patients with vascular claudication and he has been working in this area for years. He worked at the old St James’s Hospital in Balham before St James’s was closed and everyone was transferred to St George’s. They didn’t want to merge with St George’s and assured everyone that patients would die if the closure of St James’s went ahead.

John Dormandy has a substantial private practice and used to use some of the profits from it to pay a researcher. I know this because he interviewed me for a job in early 1988 and told me during the interview that the job was pretty much mine if I wanted it and that he would ring me the following day to confirm etc. I never heard from him again. I have been told recently that a little bird from north Wales got wind of what was happening and whispered sweet somethings into Dormandy’s ear.

Dormandy told me during the interview that the cause of the vascular disease in virtually all of his patients was smoking. So imagine my surprise when in 2006 John Dormandy appeared in the ‘Daily Mail’ robustly defending patients right to smoke and angrily denouncing the denial of any treatments to heavy smokers. Dormandy argued from an ‘I’m defending patients who cannot quit’ point of view. Dormandy didn’t mention that for some conditions, smoking is such a key factor that the treatment won’t actually work if they don’t stop smoking. So there is no point in giving it, even if you are totally sympathetic to the patient’s plight. Dormandy said something else to the ‘Daily Mail’ that I suspect may not be true. He claimed to be a very heavy smoker himself and so hopelessly addicted that he was unable to give up.

Top Doctors are frequently very heavy drinkers and quite a few of them enjoy drugs as well, but they are not often smokers. Angels are smokers, they puff away like there is no tomorrow – ‘it’s the stress’ – but Top Docs were part of that cohort of professional people who abandoned the cancer sticks in the 1960s when Richard Doll’s work linking lung cancer with fags became accepted by nearly everyone. Furthermore if Dormandy was on 60 No 6 or Woodbines a day, he wouldn’t get much operating done. Top Docs do all sorts of things in operating theatres, but they don’t light up lest there’s an explosion.

Dormandy has made a great deal of money out of his patients who are in agony and can barely walk. When the world gives up smoking, Dormandy’s income will be cut off. Further observation: when Dormandy interviewed me, John Moore was Secretary of State for the DHSS, who was one of those who ignored warnings that children in north Wales were being abused. Moore lived in Wimbledon, where many of the Top Docs of St George’s lived. Six months after Dormandy interviewed me, Ken Clarke became Health Secretary and embarked on a high profile battle with the BMA, in which Dafydd et al were used as bullets by both sides. Ken Clarke had previously been a Minister in Health and it was probably known that he would shortly be appointed Secretary of State. Ken Clarke is famously pro-smoking and has worked as a consultant for many of the world’s tobacco companies.

After Princess Margaret died there was a spoof letter into Viz magazine’s ‘Letterbocks’ column saying that it wasn’t true that no-one was affected by Princess Margaret’s death, because ‘I own the tobacconists and off-licence at the end of her street and I’m finished’. Likewise if people stopped smoking, Dormandy and Ken Clarke would be finished.

Googling John Dormandy brings up adverts for his practice at Parkside Hospital, Wimbledon. Parkside is a private hospital. John Moore was a patient there when he became ill during his time as Secretary of State for the DHSS. He certainly wasn’t going to risk his neck at St George’s.

I need to return to those who love Wales and its language yet again here, because since I began this post, yesterday morning on Radio 4 one of north Wales’s finest adverts popped up as the special guest on a Saturday morning programme – Sir Bryn Terfel.

Sir Bryn did absolutely everything required of a north Wales celeb when paedophiles in distress have sent out a Mayday call. He reminded everyone that he was a farmer’s son from north Wales who as a lad sung along to opera in the cab of his dad’s tractor, he stressed that Welsh was his first language and that it was central to his identity and he chatted about how he travelled the world for weeks at a time, but his heart was in the mountains. The metropolitan dipsticks of Radio 4 kept asking Bryn how ever a sheep-shagger from north Wales became a world leading opera singer, because surely there are no suitable singing teachers in north Wales.

This might surprise Radio 4, but one thing that there is in north Wales is a great many people who really like singing, who are very good at it and who are very keen to teach young people if they show an interest in singing themselves. There are also things called Eisteddfodau – which are centred around competitions, including singing competitions. Some kids absolutely hate Eisteddfodau, but others love them and get very used to singing in front of an audience at a young age. Numerous people have told me that their participation in Eisteddfodau set them up very well for performing, public speaking etc. If you want to learn to sing when you’re young, you’re probably just as well positioned in north Wales as you are in Hampstead.

Bryn is the son of a farmer – I lived in Pant Glas, just down the lane from where he grew up, for a while – and he can be spotted in Gwynedd, in Morrison’s, out and about etc. He lived at Bontnewydd near Caernarfon for a long while, but I don’t know whether he remained there after he split up from his wife. Bryn married a girl from north Wales, whom I think he went to school with. There was much nastiness in the ‘Daily Mail’ when they split up, because it transpired that Bryn’s wife had begun a relationship with a young man from Caernarfon who was on benefits and had the temerity to live in a council house. There had been some sort of scene in Cofi Roc, a rather mediocre nightclub in Caernarfon and I think that an onlooker got thumped. It certainly didn’t come up to the Daily Mail’s idea of a celebrity divorce.

Bryn moved from north Wales to London in 1984 to study at the Guildhall School of Music. It was in the 1990s that he became very well-known. In 1991 he made his debut with the Welsh National Opera and the English National Opera. In  1992, Bryn sung for the first time at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. In the following years he went global.

In 1996, Bryn expanded his repertoire to include Stravinsky, singing Nick Shadow in ‘The Rake’s Progress’ at the Welsh National Opera. This performance, along with another, won him the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for the singer of the year.

Bryn is a member of the Gorsedd of the Bards.

I have no idea whether Bryn is a Rake who has made progress, I don’t know him. But a great many other Rakes in north Wales have progressed.

Bryn is now in a relationship with harpist Hannah Stone and they have a little girl. Hannah Stone grew up on the Mumbles, near Swansea. She attended Welsh medium schools in west Wales and then went to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and then to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

When Hannah was 15, she played for Lilibet on Her Majesty’s Jubilee Tour of Wales in 2002 and has played for the Royal Family on several other occasions. She studied under the guidance of Meinir Heulyn, Head of Harp at the RWCMD before moving to London. During this time Hannah was a prize-winner at National Competitions including the Urdd Eisteddford and the International Eisteddford at Llangollen. Sir Ronnie Waterhouse was involved with the International Eisteddfod and was President for some years.

Hannah Stone knows Elinor Bennett, the harpist wife of Dafydd Wigley. Dafydd Wigley knew nothing about the paedophile gang being co-ordinated by Lucille Hughes in her office, which was just around the corner from his office in Caernarfon and just to be on the safe side, Wigley didn’t know what a paedophile was anyway (see post ‘It Wasn’t On Our Radar’).

In June 2011, Hannah Stone was appointed the Official Harpist to Carlo, a position previously occupied by the Wigley’s daughter-in-law, Catrin Finch.

Hannah Stone performed at the NATO Conference Dinner at Cardiff Castle in 2014 to delegates including US President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and UK Prime Minister David Cameron.

Yma O Hyd!

Bryn sung a song for the Radio 4 audience. It was ‘My Little Welsh Home’. I had one of those in Llanllechid. The paedophiles’ friends tried to set fire to it. Twice.

Look out for the forthcoming recordings from the Assorted Paedophiles’ Friends:

‘We didn’t know’ – ‘Ni wyddom ni’

‘It’s all lies’ – ‘Mae i gyd yn gorweddd’

‘What, us?’ – ‘Beth, ni?’

‘Nothing to do with us, we just work here’ – ‘Dim byd i’w wneud gyda mi, fi jyst yn gwaithio yma’

‘I was just doing my job’ – ‘Roeddwn i ddim ond yn gwneud fy ngwaith’

‘Get the Welsh cakes out, S4C are coming over’ – ‘Cael y cacennau Cymreig allan, mae S4C yn dod i ben’

Lastly, BBC News Online has reported that the 70th Birthday Celebrations of the NHS, termed ‘Aneurin Bevan Day’, have been enjoyed in Tredegar. Hundreds marched to the sound of a band and Carwyn and Jezza were in attendance. The BBC reported that: ‘Rita Hale, 96, from Tredegar, said she had heard Bevan speak when she was young girl. She recalled him wearing a black cloak and a four cornered hat. “I wish there were a few more like him today,” she said.’

I’ll stand by whilst the paedophiles’ friends in the Commons and the Senedd now all don black cloaks and four cornered hats in a desperate attempt to garner support. There did used to be a few people around who wore hats and cloaks. Brown, me and some of our friends. It caused outrage and was used as evidence of our insanity and the threat that we posed to western civilisation. We fell short of Nye’s standards though. We didn’t live in Chelsea, navigate our way around Knightsbridge by taxi and use Harrod’s to supply our day to day needs. Although I did once buy some bread rolls from Harrods and I ate them whilst I was reading ‘Living Marxism’, which caused a sanctimonious Stirling graduate to bang on at length about my wicked ways. She later responded to the requests of the paedophiles’ friends to stuff over the friends of mine who supported me during my battles with Dafydd and co (see post ‘The Turn Of The Screw’).

I ‘ad that Jack McConnell in the back of the cab once.

The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part IV

I wasn’t planning to publish this post just yet, but I  have prioritised it as a result of a number of recent requests. So by popular demand, I introduce – Alan Milburn and chums.

Alan Milburn was the New Labour politician who was always described as being politically closest to Blair, although it was dear old Tessa the paedophiles’ friend who memorably said that she would jump under a bus for him. Millburn is currently the ‘Social Mobility Tsar’, ie. Chair of the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission, a position to which he was appointed under the ConDems Coalition Gov’t. Milburn’s Deputy Chair was Neil O’Brien, the Director of right wing think tank Policy Exchange, founded by paedophiles’ friends Francis Maude and Archie Norman (see post ‘Disgusting Of Tunbridge Wells And A Few Equally Disgusting Others’), but it is now Gillian Shepherd who was a Cabinet Minister in John Major’s Gov’t. Prior to this role, Milburn was the Chair of the Panel on Fair Access to the Professions which was set up by Gordon Brown and included senior Lib Dem strategist and advisor to Clegg, Neil Sherlock. Milburn was all over the media a couple of days ago expressing his deep distress that social mobility just wasn’t happening in the UK. Could that possibly be at all related to twenty years of you and your ilk dominating policy Alan? The ConDems didn’t even bother to get themselves new policy advisors, they used the left-overs from Blair and Brown – Cameron and Cleggy and then even Theresa May inherited loads of them. Alan Milburn and Louise Casey’s ideas didn’t work twenty years ago and they’re still not working. Nonetheless Louise – who’s mate from university memorably took part in a ‘profile’ programme for Radio 4 and remembered going inter-railing with Louise when they were undergrads and explained that they ‘ate cheese and onion crisp sandwiches and giggled’ – is now Dame Louise. I can only presume from what Louise passes off as policy reports – which contain such gems as observing that low income households often also suffer from associated issues such as mental health problems and incest (it’s those council house people again and I bet that Louise found coal in their baths as well) – that she still spends most of her time eating crisp sandwiches and giggling.

Milburn is not however best remembered for his laughable appointment as Social Mobility Tsar. Milburn became notorious as Secretary of State for Health, Oct 1999-June 2003. I will return to this part of Milburn’s glorious career later in this post.

Milburn was MP for Darlington, 1992-2010. Darlington was a safe Labour seat – and the neighbouring constituency to Blair’s. By the time that Milburn was elected, Blair had been the MP of the neighbouring constituency of Sedgefield for nine years, but wasn’t yet leader of the Labour Party. Milburn will have been selected for that seat on Neil Kinnock’s watch – Milburn was elected in April 1992, three months before John Smith became leader. By the time that Milburn won Darlington, what later became the New Labour machine was well-advanced – Mandelson was running the show and Alastair Campbell had been a advisor close to Kinnock  for years and even used to go on holiday with the Kinnocks. Numerous other future key figures in New Labour were playing leading roles. Although Milburn wasn’t elected until 1992, he’d been beavering away for a long time.

Milburn was born in County Durham and grew up in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. He graduated from Lancaster University in 1979 and according to his wiki entry, after graduation he ran a radical bookshop, ‘Days of Hope’. However a BBC News report from May 2002 features comments from trade unionist  Alec McFadden, one of Milburn’s mates from his youth. Alec met Milburn when Milburn was doing a PhD at Newcastle University which Milburn never completed. In those days Milburn was committed to CND and world peace and was a fierce opponent of private medicine. McFadden and Milburn both marched across the Tyne Bridge on the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the NHS wearing badges which read ‘public it’s ours, private it’s theirs’. McFadden met Milburn in 1979 when McFadden was the regional President of the TUC and Milburn went into his office looking for welfare advice. Within months Milburn had abandoned his PhD, had become involved in local activism and began working as the sales assistant in Days of Hope. Milburn was attending CND meetings around Tyneside and spent a lot of time in pubs debating revolutionary politics. When he was 23 yrs old Milburn married his first wife Mo O’Toole and McFadden was best man.

Mo O’Toole went to school in Newcastle and then on to Northumbria University. She split up with Milburn in the late 1980s – at the time she was a Labour Councillor in Newcastle. She did a PhD at Newcastle University, lectured at Bristol University and then at Newcastle University. Between 1999-2004 Mo was a Labour MEP for the North East of England.

Mo’s LinkedIn profile tells us that she was Stakeholder Partnerships Manager, English Regions, 2005-08; Co-Owner and Managing Partner of Carruthers and Kent Wine Company, Shop and Deli, 2010-present day; Visiting Professor of Culture, Creativity and Innovation at Newcastle University, 2008-present day.

Mo is someone else who has remained silent about a great deal. She made it onto the all-women shortlist for the safe Labour seat of Bishop Aukland for the 2005 General Election but wasn’t selected. Helen Goodman was the lucky winner and was subsequently elected.

Goodman is an Oxford graduate who began her career in HM Treasury. She is a member of the GMB and was Head of Strategy at The Children’s Society. Goodman worked as a researcher for Philip Whitehead who was Labour MP for Derby North, 1970-83. A number of those who abused children in care in north Wales throughout the 70s and 80s had previously worked in Derbyshire. John Jillings who led the 1993-96  Jillings Investigation into the abuse of children in care in north Wales was the former Director of Derbyshire Social Services. The Jillings Report was so damning that it was pulped and even the Councillors of the Council who had commissioned the Report were not given access to it (see post ‘It’s A Piece of Cake’), but one thing that was widely suspected was that even Jillings had sanitised the situation in north Wales. Jillings was frank that the most terrible abuse had gone on, but he certainly pussy-footed around the question of whether a paedophile ring was in operation and in the end he just decided that it was best not to comment about that particular possibility. He was probably bearing in mind that the year before he was commissioned to conduct that investigation five witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal were killed in an arson attack.  Philip Whitehead also served as an MEP, 1999-2005, first for Staffordshire East and Derby and then for the East Midlands. Staffordshire was host to the ‘pin-down’ child abuse scandal in the mid-80s and whistleblowers found themselves fitted up for child abuse themselves (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part I). Staffordshire also of course had a lethal NHS which wiped out the local population for years. Before Philip Whitehead was a politician he was a documentary producer – he worked independently as well as for the BBC and ITV, 1967-70, as an editor. After he lost his Commons seat in 1983, Whitehead returned to TV work.

Some of Helen Goodman’s work was funded by the Runnymede Trust, through which a number of the paedophiles’ friends named on this blog have passed. One of the founders of the Runnymede Trust was barrister Anthony Lester. Lester was Chair of the Runnymede Trust, 1990-93. Anthony Lester had been special advisor to Roy Jenkins when he was in the Home Office in the 1970s concealing organised child abuse (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part I’). In 1981 Anthony Lester joined Roy Jenkins in establishing the SDP. Jenkins was later a mentor to Blair. In June 2007 Gordon Brown appointed Lester special advisor on constitutional reform to the Secretary of State for Justice Jack Straw – Straw had been appointed to that role the day before.

McFadden notes that Milburn’s skill with the media was apparent even back then. In 1983 Milburn joined the Labour Party after becoming involved in the unsuccessful campaign to oust the Conservative MP for Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Central, Piers Merchant. Merchant was elected in 1983, so that campaign must have kicked off virtually as soon as he became the MP. Merchant lost Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Central in 1987 but was elected as Conservative MP for Beckenham in 1992.

Piers Merchant was someone who found himself embroiled in a number of sex scandals. Prior to the 1997 General Election he was caught by a photographer from the Sun having some sort of sex in a public park in south east London with a ’17 year old Soho nightclub hostess’. Piers was married and his side of the story was that the ‘hostess’ was simply a friend and that there was no question of a sexual relationship with her. He and his wife were photographed doing the usual canoodling bit in order to demonstrate that there was no truth in the allegations, although the Sun had provided some rather damning evidence. Nonetheless Piers was re-elected. Not long after he was returned as MP however, there was another tabloid story about Piers and the hostess – Piers’ explanation was that the hostess was now his research assistant, they were writing a book together and that the teenager was a family friend. Piers’s wife was photographed hugging the teenager and told the press that she had no problem with the teenager being in the family home. However, the Sunday Mirror had secretly filmed footage inside what was described as Piers’ and the teenager’s ‘love nest’. Piers claimed that he had set up this whole sting himself, with the help of his friend who had received £25k from the Sunday Mirror – the explanation being that it was Piers who was trying to entrap the newspaper, presumably to expose their techniques. Later still, Piers stated that although he was having an affair with the former hostess, he hadn’t been previously. The teenaged hostess subsequently returned to live with her parents and they expressed the opinion that she had been ruthlessly used by Piers and that he had wrecked her life. Piers stood down from Parliament when the scandal refused to die down. Piers was caught up in another scandal as well, concerning his extra-marital affair with a 41 year old woman.

After Piers left Parliament, he joined UKIP and in 2004 stood as a candidate in the European election. Robert Kilroy-Silk, a fellow UKIPPER, sent Piers a note saying ‘please do not stand within 10 yards of me because I am sure you’ll understand that I do not wish to be photographed with you’. In the mid-1990s Robert Kilroy-Silk invited Dr Dafydd Alun Jones onto his TV show as an ‘expert’. At that time Dafydd was facilitating a paedophile gang, was lying in Court and was handing over whatever drugs his addict patients requested – some of them were selling those drugs onto local school children. Dafydd had been sued for unlawfully imprisoning Mary Wynch, had unlawfully imprisoned other people, was known to be having sexual relationships with patients and had threatened and then tried to bribe me into withdrawing my complaint about him. Kilroy – you’d have been better off with Piers.

As far as I am concerned, whether Piers was having extra-marital affairs or not was a matter for him and his wife. It is very difficult to actually get to the bottom of what Piers was up to and who was entrapping who, but I’m interested that tabloid newspapers were vigorously pursuing Piers. The reference to a Soho nightclub ‘hostess’ is an obvious suggestion that Piers’ friend was a sex worker – she was a young one at that. Piers was elected for Newcastle-Upon-Tyne in 1983 but lost his seat to the Labour candidate Jim Cousins in 1987. At that time the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal – that useful distraction from the activities of the paedophiles and their friends in north Wales – was at its peak. Piers was then re-elected as Tory MP for Beckenham in Kent in April 1992, which was where he encountered the problems with tabloid nespapers. I knew Beckenham vaguely. You’ve guessed it – I worked on an MSc project with the Wellcome Laboratories at Beckenham in Kent in 1987, during those years when unbeknown to me the paedophiles’ friends of north Wales were stalking me and contacting everybody that I was working with. Piers will have been selected as the candidate for Beckenham sometime after losing his Newcastle seat in 1987 but before April 1992. During that time, Alison Taylor, Mary Wynch and I were all raising concerns about the criminal activity in north Wales and police investigations into a possible paedophile ring had begun. There were repeated attempts to frame me for serious offences and I had been hounded out of my career. Days after Piers was elected, five other witnesses were killed by a petrol bomb. I absolutely accept that Piers being selected to stand for that constituency may have been totally unrelated to the activities of the paedophiles’ friends in north Wales, but a few things are worth mentioning.

There was a campaign to remove Merchant from office in the early 80s in which Milburn was active and it was as a result of this that Milburn joined the Labour Party. I can find no information as to WHY there was a campaign to remove Merchant – Milburn knows but doesn’t ever seem to have spoken publicly about it, even when Marchant became embroiled in high profile sex scandals. Merchant – and Milburn – lived and were active in politics in a region of paedophile activity, to which the paedophiles in north Wales had very strong links. Matt Arnold and Peter Howarth worked at Bryn Estyn when the most serious abuse of boys in that home took place – Arnold was Head and Howarth later went to prison for molesting the boys at Bryn Estyn – after they had both relocated from the Axwell Park Approved School in Gateshead where it seems that they were known about and were very likely to have been afforded protection by Ernest Armstrong, the MP for North West Durham and father of Blair’s big mate Hilary Armstrong (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III’). Hilary Armstrong succeeded her father’s seat in 1987.

Merchant was up to something which had brought him to the attention of tabloid newspapers and whatever it was his wife was colluding with, or at least tolerating, it. Tabloid newspapers don’t usually get that excited about MPs having heterosexual affairs with women to whom they are not married – they’ll run a story, but all is usually forgiven and forgotten after a photo-call featuring the MP and his family and a few contrite words from the shagger himself along the lines of how lucky he is that his wife is standing by him and how of course she’s always really been the only one for him, a la John Major, Cecil Parkinson, John Prescott, Paddy Ashdown and many more. Tim Yeo had five mistresses at once and Alan Clark wanted to have sex with anything that was female and alive, none of it was considered that horrifying. What if Piers Merchant’s tastes had run to rather more than adult consenting women? The tabloids won’t have dared to have publish it in the same way that they didn’t publish a word about Sir Peter Morrison, Cyril Smith or even Jimmy Savile, but they will have known and will have been interested in him.

A few more interesting things about Piers – he graduated from Durham University in the early 1970s and then spent nine years working as a journalist in Newcastle. So Piers began his career as a local journo just before Matt Arnold and Peter Howarth relocated from Gateshead to Bryn Estyn. Piers then went into PR work. After Piers was elected for Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, he worked as PPS for Peter Lilley when Lilley was Secretary of State for Social Security, 1992-97. As well as being remembered for singing nasty vindictive songs about people with less money than him at the Tory Conference, Lilley is also remembered for being the centre of allegations that he was gay but didn’t dare admit it. Merchant was a Tory MP when Sir Peter Morrison, MP for Chester, was at the heart of Thatcher’s Gov’t. Morrison was Lord Commissioner of the Treasury, 1979-81; Minister of State for Employment, 1983-85; Minister of State for the DTI, 1985-86; Deputy Chairman of the Party, 1986; Minister of State for Energy, 1987-90; PPS to Thatcher, July-Nov 1990. Throughout this time Morrison was molesting children, including children in care in north Wales.

I really cannot work out what Merchant was up to himself but he’ll have known about Morrison because they all did and I bet that he knew about Arnold and Howarth when they were in Gateshead.

The man who replaced Piers Merchant as MP for Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Central in 1987, Jim Cousins, was a product of New College, Oxford, an institution that educated quite a few of the paedophiles’ friends (see post ‘A Study In Tyranny’). Cousins was considered a member of the awkward squad in the Labour Party – he rebelled on matters such as the Iraq War. However he was fully behind New Labour’s NHS Reforms. Before he was elected to Parliament he was a lecturer at Sunderland Poly, 1982-87. So he’ll have had local knowledge. Cousins had been a leading member of the Liberal Club when he was at Oxford in the mid-60s – so it’s very likely that he knew the sort of things that Jeremy Thorpe was doing (see post ‘My How Things Haven’t Changed’).

Jim Cousins was selected as a Labour candidate and then voted into Parliament in the midst of the then biggest child abuse scandal that the UK had experienced. He doesn’t seem to have said much about it – but then most of the other local MPs didn’t either. Cousins, like most of the other New Labour stalwarts featured in this post, was selected by Kinnock’s Labour Party machine – the Kinnock who knew about the paedophiles’ friends in north Wales, who along with his wife Glenys was a long-standing personal friend of Lord Cledwyn who concealed the wrongdoing of the paedophiles and their friends for years (see post ‘The Cradle of Filth’), who had recently selected Blair for the safe seat of Sedgefield next door to the Armstrong’s fortress. Blair – a barrister from London who had worked as a junior for the crooked barrister George Carman who knew about the paedophile gang in north Wales/Cheshire and who was married to Cherie – who worked in the same chambers as Carman and was ‘mentor’ to scores of other young barristers who were ignoring organised child abuse. Lest anyone think that I’m on the Grassy Knoll, I’ll just remind them that by this time Kinnock had embarked upon his ‘modernisation’ of the Labour Party and Mandelson was the man orchestrating it. It was for the 1987 General Election campaign that Mandy produced the infamous ‘Kinnock – the movie’ film, in which the elderly of south Wales were filmed saying what a nice boy Kinnock was and which featured shots of Kinnock and Glenys walking along the Great Orme, where neither of them lived or had ever lived. Mandy could have dug up just as many people from Wales who would have frothed at the mouth about Kinnock’s opposition to devolution, or people with whom he went to university who viewed him as a thick wally. Mandy could even have wheeled out Dr Tony Francis (Dr X)- a paedophiles’ friend from north Wales who was busy perjuring himself and telling others to do so as well in attempts to frame me after I complained about him, Dr Dafydd Alun Jones and Gwynedd Social Services breaking the law and threatening me – who told a number of students in north Wales who had also complained about the mental health services that he knew Kinnock from his time at Cardiff University.

In 1987 Mary Wych, Alison Taylor and I were all shouting as loudly as we could that something terrible was happening in north Wales. Alison was a Gwynedd social worker who blew the whistle on the abuse of children in care and alleged that a paedophile gang was at work.

So Milburn joined the Labour Party in 1983 for some unpublicised reason related to the failure of the campaign to have Piers Merchant removed from office. Alec McFadden remembers that Milburn enhanced his standing in Labour Party circles in the north east by editing a trade union sponsored tabloid called Rostrum. It was at this time that McFadden claimed that Milburn began to change his image – he lost his beard and long hair. In the mid-80s Milburn landed a job as co-ordinator of the Trade Union Studies Information Unit, an organisation that we are told was ‘County Council based’, although which County Council is not made clear. The problem of the abuse of children in the north east will have been located in the Local Authorities.

Milburn became Chair of the Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Central Constituency Labour Party.

In 1990 Milburn became the Business Development Officer for North Tyneside Borough Council and President of the North East Region of MSF. MSF was the union which represented many of the non-clinical staff in the NHS and in universities. In 1990 I was working at St George’s Hospital Medical School and gradually being hounded out of my job – one of the those involved was the Departmental rep for MSF, David Hole, who as far as I could work out was corrupt, as were some of his fellow MSF reps.

In 1990 Milburn secured the Labour nomination for the Tory marginal  seat of Darlington – the neighbouring constituency to Blair’s constituency Sedgefield. In April 1992 Milburn won the seat off Tory Michael Fallon – he who recently resigned from Theresa May’s Cabinet because he had touched a friend of many years standing on the knee whilst having a meal with her. No-one has yet found out the real reason why Fallon scarpered, but I notice that Fallon was PPS to dear old Cecil Parkinson in 1987. Whilst Sir Peter Morrison was busy with boys in north Wales and Cheshire as well as in other parts of the UK. On one occasion Morrison was seen driving away from Bryn Estyn with one of the boys in his car. The Bryn Estyn which was employing Matt Arnold and Peter Howarth who had relocated there from the Axwell Park Approved School in Gateshead – where there had been allegations that Howarth had molested youngsters.

Milburn was elected as MP for Darlington in April 1992 – at the same General Election which saw Piers Merchant elected for Beckenham, at the General Election in which Sir Peter Morrison stood down as an MP. Another very well-known figure was elected to a constituency in the north east of England at the same General Election – Mandelson. He was elected for Hartlepool. Just days after that election, five witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal were killed in an arson attack started by a petrol bomb thrown into the building after they had all been invited to a party (see post ‘The Silence of the Welsh Lambs’). The man who allegedly confessed to starting the fire was hit by a lorry and killed a few days later and one of the survivors of the fire who had also been in care in north Wales as a child was found dead in questionable circumstances at a later point after he told people that victims of the paedophile gang in north Wales were being murdered because they had knowledge of sexual liaisons involving politicians. At the time of the fire, police investigations into a possible paedophile ring in north Wales and Cheshire involving public figures had begun.

Milburn became good mates with Blair, Hilary Armstrong, Mandy and the in-crowd. Alec McFadden told the BBC that he and Milburn drifted apart after Milburn became an MP. Milburn has denounced his own beliefs from his days in the Marxist book shop as ‘crackers’. McFadden also stated that ‘Alan has said it would be foolhardy to be in total opposition to Mr Blair’ and that Milburn ‘doesn’t have the right to choose for himself and decide policy’. Yes but when witnesses to a paedophile ring are being murdered Milburn it’s time to speak up or at least disentangle yourself from the people who are either doing it, concealing it or keeping a lid on it in order to become PM.

McFadden mentioned that Steven Byers was another ‘old mate’  who had effectively sold out. Byers was another ally of Blair who was based in the north east of England. He was elected as MP for Wallsend in 1992 and when that constituency was abolished was elected for the safe seat of North Tyneside, 1997-2010. Byers first stood for Parliament – for Hexham – in 1983. So he was someone else selected to stand for Labour whilst Kinnock was leader. Byers has a Chester connection – he went to Chester City Grammar School, then Chester College of Further Education. He read law at Liverpool Poly – as did the former leader of Plaid, that great friend to the paedophiles’ of north Wales, Ieuan Wyn Jones, although Jones is four years older than Byers. Byers then became a law lecturer at Newcastle University. He was elected a Councillor for North Tyneside District Council in 1980 and became Deputy leader of the Council in 1985 – someone else who will have heard about child abuse on his patch and who was on the doorstep when the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal occurred.

In 1993 Byers became an ally of Blair when Byers became a member of the Home Affairs Select Committee. Byers subsequently identified himself as an ‘outrider’ for the New Labour project.

When Blair became Labour leader he appointed Byers as a Whip and when Blair became PM Byers was appointed Minister of State in the Department of Education and Employment under Secretary of State Estelle Morris. Morris famously resigned from that post saying that she realised that she wasn’t up to the job, was becoming unwell with the stress of it and would be much happier out of Gov’t. This resulted in Morris being widely derided for her honesty – but what if Morris had found herself surrounded by ruthless unscrupulous people who were building their careers on the back of their knowledge of something terrible which they were concealing?

When Byers was appointed as Chief Secretary to the Treasury in July 1998 he also became a member of the Privy Council. Stephen Byers was, variously: Minister of State for Education; Chief Secretary to the Treasury; Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and President of the Board of Trade; Secretary of State for Transport, Local Gov’t and the Regions. In 2010 Byers was caught in a lobbying scandal by journalists from the Sunday Times boasting of his access to Andrew Adonis and Mandelson and describing himself as a ‘cab for hire’. He did not resign from the Labour Party but was subsequently banned from Parliament for two years.

When Blair won the election in 1997 Milburn was appointed Minister of State for Health under Secretary of State Frank Dobson. Dobson was known to be completely opposed to any sort of privatisation of the NHS and is known for not having the sort of allegiance to Blair and New Labour that Milburn had. Dobson is generally portrayed as a genial Father Christmas character – he didn’t thrive under Blair’s regime but he was wheeled out by Blair in 2000 in an unsuccessful attempt to stop Ken Livingstone becoming London Mayor. However I note that Dobbo was elected as a Labour Councillor for Camden London Borough Council in 1971 and very soon became leader of the Labour Group on the Council and therefore Leader of the Council. He resigned in 1975 when he was appointed to the impartial role of Assistant Secretary of the Office of the Local Ombudsman, a job he retained until 1979.

Dobbo was MP for Holborn and St Pancras 1979-2015 – so he was around a very, very long time, particularly when one takes into his account his years on Camden Council. Dobbo was present throughout the paedophile years and involved with a Council choc full of future New Labour stars who were up to their necks in wrongdoing, including their silence regarding the organised abuse of children – including Tessa, David and John Mills (see posts ‘The London Connection’ and ‘Tower Hamlets, Paul Boateng and Tessa Jowell’).

I have mentioned many times on this blog that in the first few years after the new millennium figures were released which showed that Conwy in north west Wales had the second highest suicide rate for women in England and Wales. No-one could understand why because Conwy is a rural area, wealthy by north Wales standards and very desirable. There was never an investigation – which probably was no coincidence because an awful lot of people believed the problem was almost certainly related to the presence of the lethal Dr Tony Roberts as the psychiatrist leading the mental health team for Conwy, who’s goal in life seemed to be to cause as many patients as possible to commit suicide by refusing to believe that anyone was ill no matter how ill they were. In 2002 Tony Roberts did his best to kill me – he ordered an on-call GP to ‘do nothing’ on the grounds that I was a ‘known troublemaker’ after the GP contacted him and described me as ‘suicidal ++++’. Roberts then ordered every other doctor not to treat me, ignored letters from my lawyers telling him that I had a legal right to a second opinion and tried to have me framed for ‘threatening to kill’ Alun Davies, the manager of the Hergest Unit, after I had called Davies a fat idiot. The case subsequently fell apart and it was clear that the Angels and Top Doctors had perjured themselves but as ever there was no investigation into this. Neither has there yet been a resolution to a problem which I only uncovered last year – after that case collapsed, someone unlawfully altered the PNC to record a conviction of ‘violent disorder’ against my name and someone also forged a certificate of indictment stating that I had been convicted of ‘violent disorder’ (see post ‘Even More Confusion Regarding Those Legal Conundrums’). The former Chief Executive of the North West Wales NHS Trust Martin Jones somehow knew about all this when I didn’t. The North West Wales NHS Trust ran the Hergest Unit and employed both Tony Roberts and Alun Davies at the time, as well as the Angels who happily joined in with the perjury. I made a complaint to the GMC about Roberts but they took no action. Last year my lawyer forwarded me a copy of a document that had been found in the possession of the GMC – it was a forged letter, purporting to be from me, relating to my complaint about Roberts (see post ‘ The General Medical Council – And Yet Another Forged Document’).

My problems with Tony Roberts occurred in 2002 . When it was admitted that the suicide rate for women in Conwy was second only to the suicide rate for women in – Camden! We know that the problem in Conwy was Tony Roberts – Roberts was also a wider problem because somebody appointed this madman as clinical director of the Hergest Unit and then the fun really began.

But who or what was the problem in Camden? I don’t know much about Camden but I do know that although it contains an affluent area where Blair’s mates no doubt lived, one area – St Pancras – was the location of sex workers, including sex workers who were children in the care of the local authority. I say ‘was’ because I haven’t been there for years – I know that the railway station has been redeveloped and is now very grand – but when I lived in London in the late 80s/early 90s, I used to go through St Pancras and I saw those kids flogging their services. Many of them had very obvious serious mental health problems, as did a few other folk, including a man who seemed to be suffering from a serious psychotic condition who lived in that station and was sustained by the Mars Bars that the people who manned one of the stalls selling sweets gave him.

I was not the only person to notice what was going on in St Pancras Station. After I left London I watched a TV documentary about young homeless kids in London and it was revealed that many of them had left local authority ‘care’. At one point in the documentary, a group of young people were interviewed and angrily told the journo of the total disrespect with which they were treated by wider society, of the hassle that they received from the police and of the assaults that they received from thugs. One boy then yelled that everyone knew what was happening to them and that ‘the MP for [constituency bleeped out] is picking up young boys’.

It all happened on your patch Dobbo. Anything to declare whilst you tell us all how great the NHS is?

After a survey of his constituents in 2008 Frank Dobson was named as being one of the very worst MPs in terms of their responses to constituents’ correspondence. Out of 269 of constituents letters sent to Dobbo via WriteToThem.com, Dobbo had replied to just 69. Let me guess -if you were an Angel or Top Doctor who wrote to Dobbo about The Cuts, you’d get a reply by return of post. Concerned constituent asking Dobbo to help because of the terrible problems that you’re having with the mental health services or writing because you’re a resident who has discovered that the kids in the care of Camden Council are being abused or neglected? You’ll have been ignored.

Milburn was responsible for driving through PFI deals for hospitals. The PFI deals that are now costing the NHS a great deal of money, far more money than those bastard patients missing appointments or turning up at A&E making a nuisance of themselves because they are unwell, anxious and unable to get an appointment with their GP for three weeks.

Milburn obviously felt that he didn’t make much headway under Dobbo and it is said that Milburn drove through the desired NHS reforms later when he became Secretary of State for Health himself. Meanwhile, whilst Dobbo was Secretary of State for Health, before devolution made the NHS in Wales the responsibility of the National Assembly, the criminality and corruption in the NHS in north Wales continued unhindered. Whilst Dobbo the stooge sat there in office, all hell was unleashed where I lived because the Waterhouse Inquiry had begun and was taking evidence from the former kids in care who had been so seriously abused. The Hergest Unit very obviously started falling apart, the better staff left in droves, Dr Tony Francis had a nervous breakdown and took early retirement after publicly declaring that he loathed all of his colleagues, the consultants were all at each others throats anyway and the care of the patients – which was always very mediocre – basically stopped. The Hergest Unit had a day centre which was about the only part of the Unit which functioned properly and was led by a nurse who I think really did try her best to look after patients with serious long term illnesses against the backdrop of a paedophile gang and their protectors. The day centre was closed down and the nurse who ran it was redeployed as a travelling CBT therapist ‘in the community’. The nurse didn’t drive so spent nearly all of her time sitting on the bus travelling the long distances between the rural locations which she had to visit. Everyone could see that it was farcical, particularly as she was probably the most capable member of staff that the mental health service in Gwynedd had. She wasn’t nuts, she wasn’t a paedophile and she actually knew how to conduct CBT. So Alun Davies and Tony Roberts had her spending her days on a bus. Following the closure of the day centre, patients could be seen destitute around the local towns and a number of them died. The ones who died interestingly enough were those who could remember what went on in the North Wales Hospital Denbigh when Dafydd used to illegally bang up anyone who had complained about him or the paedophiles or who were the patients who had been the former residents of the children’s homes in north Wales. All care and support for them was withdrawn and the pleas of neighbours and other horrified onlookers were ignored. One patient who was left for dead was a close relative of a man whom Alan Milburn knows. She didn’t actually die – by some miracle – but she did become destitute. Her close relative who knows Milburn won’t have afforded her any protection – a family rift when they were young meant that he will not have felt any obligation to her and he’s a famous man in the public spotlight who would only feel embarrassment because of his seriously ill relative. But the patient concerned is someone who can remember the North Wales Hospital and what Dafydd did out there and is also someone who was sexually used by the staff herself. She’s ill but she’s not stupid, there’s no telling who she might name if someone looks after her and asks the right questions.

Another patient who became destitute although neighbours rang Gwynedd Social Services and the Top Doctors repeatedly begging for someone to take care of her as she visibly lost weight through severe malnourishment, lived in derelict buildings, ran out into the road in Bethesda and yelled abuse at the traffic etc used to entertain people who did talk to her by maintaining that she was a prostitute and a groupie. When she first told me all this, to my shame I presumed that it was just the ramblings of a very distressed person. Then I noticed that the rest of her observations were spot-on – and I learned that a paedophile ring had operated in the region for years, a ring which took kids in care and mental health patients to London, Brighton and Manchester and sold them for sex, including to well-known people. This woman’s particular claim to fame was that she had had sex with Mick Jagger. People would listen politely and she would simply repeat that honestly she had, when she was young, because she had been a groupie. She was the right vintage to have been a groupie in the 60s/70s, but I always presumed that she had probably had sex with some rather less high profile people but not actually Murdoch’s wife’s leftovers. Until the day that I saw a collection of photos of Jagger with some of his mates taken in the late 60s – and one of those in the photos was someone who’s network had definitely extended as far as the dispossessed of north Wales.

I also found out today that Jimmy Savile visited Bryn Estyn. I had heard rumours but I thought that they were no more than that. Apparently not – Savile was there and he whilst he was there he was entertained by watching Peter Howarth and others gang rape the boys in their care.

You don’t have to worry Dobbo/Milburn/Blair, nearly all those patients are now dead. They were systematically exterminated in full public view whilst you all spouted rubbish about ‘service user involvement’ and ‘rights and responsibilities’. Not forgetting ‘tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime’ of course.

As Minister of State under Dobbo, Milburn will have known what was going on in the NHS in north Wales, it did not pass unnoticed, there were letters to politicians from many people.

Milburn was moved from the post of Minister of State in the Dept of Health in Dec 1998 to the role of Chief Secretary to the Treasury.

By Dec 1998 the Waterhouse Inquiry had stopped hearing the witnesses evidence and had set about the process of discrediting them as much as possible in their Report which was subsequently published in Feb 2000. In Oct 1998 had Blair appointed Alun Michael as Secretary of State for Wales after Ron Davies’s moment of madness on Clapham Common, which resulted in Alun Michael subsequently becoming First Secretary (now known as First Minister) of the newly created National Assembly for Wales, an appointment that just about no-one supported but Blair. Alun Michael resigned as First Secretary and as Leader of Welsh Labour in Feb 2000. The month in which the Waterhouse Report was published. William Hague, who as Secretary of State for Wales under John Major had orchestrated the cover-up which was Waterhouse, by this time was leader of the Tory Party in Opposition – he’d been appointed to that role in June 1997, having done everyone a massive favour re Waterhouse.

The reason that Milburn was moved to the Treasury however was because Mandy had been forced to resign as Secretary of State for the DTI after the business of the huge undeclared loan from Paymaster General Geoffrey Robinson. Stephen Byers was appointed Secretary of State for DTI in Mandy’s place and Milburn replaced Byers as Chief Secretary to the Treasury. Milburn was Chief Secretary to the Treasury under Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown.

In Oct 1999 – four months before the Waterhouse Report was published – Milburn replaced Dobbo as Secretary of State for Health. Whilst Secretary of State, Milburn battled with Gordon over NHS funding  and the establishment of NHS foundation hospitals. Gordon famously did release the purse strings for the NHS and it received a great deal of money, as did the Top Doctors personally. Concerns were raised within the Labour Party that foundation hospitals would lead to a two-tier NHS. No-one mentioned the possibility that patient harm and deaths would be concealed by Trusts in their efforts to achieve foundation status. Meanwhile at Mid-Staffs things were going dreadfully wrong – and everybody in the Dept of Health lied through their teeth, fiddled the stats and concealed thousands of deaths.

Milburn resigned as Secretary of State unexpectedly in June 2003 and no-one quite understood why, particularly as he had been identified for promotion. He trotted out the usual lame excuses of the exhaustion and stress with all the commuting between London and the north east and wanting to spend more time with his partner and two children. When Milburn resigned Peter Cordy, the Chief Exec of Macmillan Cancer Relief, said that Milburn had ‘played a pivotal role’ in developing and introducing the NHS cancer plan. UNISON General Secretary Dave Prentis ‘praised Mr Milburn’s dedication’ regarding the ‘difficult job that he had to do in turning around our NHS after 20 years of neglect’. That’s the Dave Prentis who represented thousands of NHS workers, including those employed in the north Wales mental health services at the time who were neglecting and abusing their patients and committing perjury in attempts to frame them. A leading light in COHSE, one of the unions that eventually merged to form UNISON, was David Williams, a ‘nurse’ from the North Wales Hospital Denbigh, who had worked there whilst Gwynne the lobotomist was still incapacitating people for life if they dared to complain about the Top Doctors or paedophiles assaulting them (see post ‘A Very COHSE Relationship With Some Very Nasty People’).

Milburn made a brief return to Gov’t in 2004 when he was appointed Minister for the Cabinet Office and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster to enable him to lead the campaign for the 2005 General Election, but it got off to a bad start and Milburn stood back from the campaign.

In 2007 Milburn launched the 20:20 website with Charles Clarke. Clarke was a researcher for Kinnock and then became Chief of Staff of Kinnock’s office. Lady Margaret Jay, the daughter of former Labour PM Jim Callaghan Chaired the launch. That’s the Jim Callaghan who visited Glenys Kinnock’s parents’ at their house in Holyhead with Lord Cledwyn, who concealed the paedophile gang in north Wales (see post ‘The Cradle Of Filth’).

After resigning as Secretary of State to spend more time with his partner and children, Milburn remained a busy man. He took a £30k pa job as an advisor with Bridgepoint Capital, a venture capitalist company with investments in private medical companies. Bridgepoint was involved with a group of care homes which were named and shamed as neglecting their patients. I also remember seeing the name of Chris Patten in connection with Bridgepoint.

Whilst Secretary of State for Health, Milburn made strident attacks on the junk food industry and claimed that the biggest world health problem is chronic illness caused by junk food, including fizzy drinks. After he resigned he called on Ministers to ban snack vending machines from schools.

In May 2007 Milburn accepted a £27k pa post with PepsiCo to assist in building a healthier image for the company. Milburn sat on the nutritional advisory board which was set up by the UK arm of PepsiCo. Philip Gould, another good mate of Blair’s and a key figure in New Labour, sat on the board as well. PepsiCo stated that they hoped that Milburn’s Ministerial track record ‘would be of enormous value’. That’s why this December that huge red juggernaut going under the name of the Coca Cola Truck will be arriving at a town near you to flog sugary fizz with no nutritional value at all to kids gearing up for Christmas.

Milburn is Chair of Global Advisors for Mars Incorporated, is also on the Board of Bridgepoint’s ‘portfolio company’ Diaverum AB and is a Board member of Apos Therapy. Dear old Stuart Rose sits on Bridgepoint’s European Advisory Board, along with Milburn. Milburn is also a member of the Strategic Advisory Board at WellDoc and Vice-Chair, Lloyds Pharmacy Advisory Board.

In Jan 2015 the Guardian reported that Bridgepoint were the major shareholders in Care UK, which is involved in outsourcing NHS services.

Milburn is Chair of iwantgreatcare Ltd.

Milburn also works for PwC. He is the Chair of their Health Industries Oversight Board.

Milburn co-authored an opinion piece for the Financial Times with John Hutton, another Blair ally and a Cabinet Minister between 2005-09. Their article urged the current Labour leadership to embrace the records of the Gov’ts of which they were a part. Hutton is a consultant to Lockhead Martin, an advisor to the Bechtel Corporation and a non-executive Director of Circle Holdings plc. Circle was the firm which failed to deliver and actually pulled out after receiving a contract to manage Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Cambridgeshire.

Milburn was a member of Ed Miliband’s ‘top team’, along with Mandy and Alistair Campbell.

Milburn became Chancellor of Lancaster University in 2014 and the University’s website states that Milburn is involved in charitable projects as diverse as working with Blair in Africa to acting as a Trustee for Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

In Nov 2017 the Telegraph reported that A.M. Strategy, a private company set up by Milburn after leaving Gov’t, had made more than £500k in the past year and had accumulated over £1 million in profits since its establishment. Milburn directs this company with his long-term girlfriend Ruth Briel, the person whom he resigned from Gov’t to spend more time with.

In much the same way that Milburn didn’t slow down at all after his resignation from Gov’t, I’m not sure that Ruth has much spare time herself to spend with Milburn. As well as being a Director of A.M. Strategy, Ruth is Dr Ruth Briel, a Top Doctor – an NHS consultant psychiatrist and clinical director at the Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust. She is a member of the Academic Health Sciences Network for the North East and North Cumbria as well as Chief Operating Officer for the NHS Leadership Academy.

Briel is involved with NHS Improvement who have been completely unable to improve the NHS at all. She sits on the Senior Advisory Group ‘to advise and enable the creation of an improvement movement across the NHS in England’. Many Board members of NHS Improvement are known to this blog and include: Chris Hopson of NHS Providers; Dr Matthew Patrick of the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust; Jim Mackey of NHS Improvement; Prof Chris Ham of the Kings Fund; Roy Lilley of the Academy of Fab NHS Stuff; Will Warburton of The Health Foundation; Prof Maxine Power of Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust; Nigel Edwards of the Nuffield Trust; Lord Ara Darzi; Prof Sir John Burn of Newcastle University.

John Burn is Professor of Clinical Genetics as Newcastle University. At least some of his research is or has been funded by Cancer Research UK, the leading lights of which are those people whom I witnessed behaving so badly in 1987 (see post ‘A cause Close To Our Hearts’). Burn studied at Newcastle Medical School, 1976-80 and led the regional NHS Genetics Society for 20 years. He helped to create the Centre for Life in Newcastle which houses the regions Fertility and Genetics Services. Burn launched ID testing company Northgene Ltd in 1995; Chairs DNA device company QuantuMDx; is a non-executive Director of NHS England; Executive Chair of Global Varione Ltd. He was genetics lead for the UK NIHR (National Institute of Health Research); the previous lead clinician for UK NHS (North East); was Director of the Institute of Genetic Medicine at Newcastle University (2005-10); President of the European Society for Human Genetics (2007).

Presumably Professor Sir John Burn is well-acquainted with Milburn, Ruth and their mates.

Just a couple of days ago it was announced that Ian Dalton CBE is to be the new Chief Exec of NHS Improvement. Dalton is currently the CEO of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, a collection of teaching hospitals, some of which have been involved in research fraud and very questionable practices for decades (see posts ‘A Cause Close To Our Hearts’ and ‘I Don’t Believe It!’). He was President, Global Gov’t and Health, BT Global Services, April 2014-Sept 2016; President, Global Heath, BT Global Services, May 2013-April 2014; Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive, NHS England, 2012-13; Chief Executive, NHS North of England, 2011-12; MD, Provider Development, UK Dept of Health, 2010-12; Chief Executive, NHS North East, 2007-11; National Director, NHS Flu Resilience, UK Dept of Health, May 2009-10; Chief Exec, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust, 2005-07; Chief Exec, North Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust, 2003-05.

So there we are – Dalton has presided over a long and glorious history of NHS failure, catastrophe and cover-up in regions of the country where child abuse connected to organised crime has caused havoc but luckily Ian Dalton was at the heart of the network of Blair and his mates, so he just carried on climbing upwards.

Ruth Briel is also listed as a Director of North East Transformation System Ltd and her address was given as Gateshead Health Trust HQ.

Briel has had a very long association with the NHS in the north east, particularly the mental health services. She qualified from Newcastle University Medical School in 1988. In the aftermath of the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal, just as Butler-Sloss’s Inquiry into it all was underway. There is no way that Ruth and her peers will not have been discussing that and indeed hearing some of what really went on. It is highly likely that Briel personally knows some of those who were key players in that scandal – a scandal which resulted in hundreds of children being removed from the care of their parents, most of whom Butler-Sloss quietly later admitted had not been abused. More recently authorities in Cleveland admitted that ‘mistakes were made’. The biggest mistake was the complete concealment by all agencies of the en masse abuse of children in care by a series of paedophile gangs with links to each other across the UK which operated through the social services.

The information provided in this blog post does of course back up the information in my post ‘The Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Connection’.

So those are some of the people who led the NHS during those years following the Waterhouse Inquiry whilst the surviving witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal were systematically exterminated. It’s a rather different story to the one that launched Milburn’s political career – the story of the son of a single mother who worked as an NHS secretary and who was brought up on a council estate and never recovered from the Council painting his front door the same colour as everyone else’s on the estate. I know that was a bit of a liberty Alan, but it couldn’t have been that traumatic – it’s not as if you were murdered when you were fire-bombed because you had information about politicians molesting children.

Workers’ Play Time

I have mentioned in previous posts and comments that in 1993 I wrote to the UK’s most high profile radical barrister Michael Mansfield at his chambers in Tooks Court about the mental health services in north Wales. I had just been prosecuted – yet again – at the insistence of the mental health services for ‘staring at a social worker in Safeways’. I was fined £60 by Bangor Magistrates Court. The social worker concerned, Jackie Brandt, a member of the delightful Arfon Community Mental Health Team, had previously illegally detained me, refused to investigate my complaints – as had her boss Lucille Hughes – and perjured herself in an attempt to have me imprisoned. Brandt had alleged to the police that I had screamed and yelled at her in Safeways, swore at her and threatened her. She admitted under cross-examination in Court that I hadn’t done any of these things, but I had ‘looked at her’, indeed at one point ‘stared’. Brandt then started crying. No-one asked any questions about why Brandt had felt able to lie in a statement to the police, lie again in Court and only admit that she had lied when my solicitor questioned her. Instead Bangor Magistrates deemed that by looking at Brandt I had breached the Public Order Act. The Act in question had been passed by Thatcher’s Gov’t to criminalise the striking miners in the 1984 dispute but was being widely used to prosecute anyone for anything. Mansfield mentioned the abuse of this Act in his 1993 book ‘Presumed Guilty’, which is why I wrote to him.

I did receive a reply from Michael Mansfield himself – he simply wrote me a couple of lines thanking me for my letter and saying ‘it is always good to have support’. I didn’t think anymore of this at the time – I just presumed that Mansfield would be in receipt of huge quantities of mail from people having a hard time and that he’d be busy defending the Birmingham Six or something. I missed a few things at the time.

At that time Mary Wynch had just made legal history by suing Dr Dafydd Alun Jones, Risley Remand Centre and Clwyd Health Authority for wrongful arrest and false imprisonment (see post ‘The Mary Wynch Case – Details’). Mansfield will definitely have known about this case – not only because it made legal history and received widespread media coverage, but also because there’d been a TV documentary made about it ‘Who Will Listen To Mary Wynch?’ (by Elizabeth Clough, Jeremy Paxman’s partner at the time) and because Mansfield’s longstanding friend and colleague Gareth Peirce, the radical solicitor, worked – as did Paul Boateng, Imran Khan and John Wadham (who became the Director of Liberty) – in Birnberg and Co, the solicitors that represented Mary. Gareth Peirce later became a senior partner in what became Birnberg Peirce and Partners. Benedict Birnberg himself retired in 1999 – just before the publication of the Waterhouse Report. Birnberg was also co-secretary of War On Want. At the time that I wrote to Mansfield, allegations of a paedophile ring operating in Cheshire and north Wales involving public figures including politicians and civil servants had appeared in the London based media. Allegations of a cover-up reaching to the highest levels of Gov’t were being made, a police investigation had been launched but had found ‘no evidence’ of the involvement of people in high places, an independent investigation by John Jillings of the abuse of children in the care of Clwyd County Council had been ordered and Alison Taylor -a social worker from Gwynedd – had blown the whistle loudly on the abuse of children in care in north Wales only to be sacked from her job by Lucille Hughes. The year before I wrote to Mansfield, Alison had appeared in a TV documentary with former residents of children’s homes in north Wales alleging abuse of kids in care and they had named a senior police officer with the North Wales Police, Gordon Anglesea, as one of the abusers. By the time that I wrote to Mansfield, Anglesea was suing the media outlets who had named him for libel. Michael Mansfield’s partner Yvette Vanson was a TV producer – it was her colleague Tony Wardle who co-wrote ‘Presumed Guilty’ with Mansfield. They will not have missed the havoc in north Wales. Mansfield had then received a letter from someone living near Bangor supplying him with details of the most extraordinary abuse of the law by Gwynedd Social Services involving collusion by the North Wales Police, Bangor Magistrates Court and the CPS… Did his antennae really not twitch?

A few days ago, I read Michael Mansfield’s 2009 book, ‘Memoirs of a Radical Lawyer’.

Mansfield established his chambers Tooks Court in 1984 as a collective. I don’t know what was going on there, but Mansfield admits in his book that their senior clerk walked out in response to the ‘arrogance’ and ‘demands’ of the barristers at Tooks. The radical socialist barristers who were fighting for the common man…

Sadly, rather than genuinely radical barristers, Tooks was hosting some unscrupulous hypocrites of the highest order. Helena Kennedy QC worked there – the Helena who worked closely with corrupt psychiatrist Professor Nigel Eastman from St George’s Hospital Medical School. Eastman was not only concealing and colluding with wrongdoing at St George’s and Springfield Hospital (the psychiatric unit attached to St George’s), but he also colluded with those we know and love in north Wales in 1991 when he was faced with evidence of their criminal activities (see post ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London…’). Helena also will have known about the abuse of women patients in the special hospitals, many of whom had already been abused as kids in care and as mental health patients – no, she didn’t say a word. I bet she knew about Jimmy Savile’s activities at Broadmoor as well. Please read my post ‘Eve Was Framed – As Were A Lot Of Other People’ for further details regarding St Helena.

Patricia Scotland QC worked at Tooks. Patricia Scotland was involved in the Waterhouse Inquiry. Did Patsy represent any of the kids who’d been abused whilst in care in north Wales? No. Patsy was the QC who represented the Welsh Office. The Welsh Office who ignored complaints that children were being terribly abused, the Welsh Office who were failing to carry out regular inspections of children’s homes even after staff in the homes had been convicted of sexual and physical assaults on children in their care, the Welsh Office who employed corrupt lawyer Andrew Park who advised the mental health services as to how to mount prosecutions against me and how to avoid investigating my complaints, the Welsh Office which employed the corrupt Medical Ombudsman Professor Robert Owen who – along with Professor Robert Bluglass and Dr Colin Berry – concealed the criminal activities of Dr Dafydd Alun Jones and Dr Tony Francis (Dr X). Patsy’s sterling work on behalf of the Welsh Office involved cross-examining the witnesses – the people who had been abused – so harshly that some of them became so distressed that they needed medical attention whilst others were unable to walk out of the building unaided. Details of Patsy’s glorious career as a black woman barrister who is completely dedicated to helping the unfortunate can be read in posts ‘Baroness Patricia Scotland Was On Board As Well!’, More On Baroness Patricia Scotland QC – And Her Very Sleazy Friends’ and ‘Even More About Baroness Patricia Scotland QC’.

Another alumnus of Tooks was Constance Briscoe, who like Patsy made much of being black and in possession of ovaries. After making it as far as a judge presiding over mental health and child care cases, Briscoe was imprisoned for perjury. Briscoe’s mate Vicky Pryce and Pryce’s former husband Lib Dem MP Chris Huhne were also imprisoned, but unlike Briscoe and Huhne who’s careers were finished off, dear old Vicky returned to work as a Gov’t economist after she’d served her stretch and can be heard regularly on the BBC. Vicky also wrote a misery memoir about her time in prison, from the perspective of an oppressed woman.

Vera Baird QC, another well-known radical feminist lawyer, also worked at Tooks. Years later in her capacity as Solicitor General in Gordon Brown’s Gov’t, Vera assisted Charlie Falconer in withdrawing virtually all legal aid in cases where people had had their lives wrecked by the state.

Many of the Tooks lawyers were networked to fellow lawyer Cherie Booth and when Cherie’s husband Tony Blair became PM he gave a lot of them peerages.

Friends and colleagues of Mansfield et al at Tooks included other big names among radical barristers, such as Stephen Sedley, Anthony Scrivener and Anthony Gifford.

I am the first to admit that Mansfield and some of his colleagues have done some excellent work. They have successfully helped some victims of terrible miscarriages of justice such as the Guildford Four and the Birmingham Six and I know someone who has worked with Lord Gifford fighting for prisoners on death row in Jamaica. Some of those people would be dead without Tony Gifford. But again and again, I notice that the radical barristers just do not touch cases involving people who have been abused by the state child care system or the mental health system in the UK. In fact no-one will take those cases. Birnberg and Co did fight for Mary Wynch initially – but Mary’s problems did not end when she won her case. Clwyd Health Authority et al then refused to stump up the damages, Mary ended up having to go into hiding, the property and money of which she was fleeced by Dr Dafydd Alun Jones et al was never returned to her and she was finally ruined by the Home Office under Michael Howard in 1995. At which point she was never heard of again – the few people who had fought for her and publicised her case fell silent.

I can only speculate that the problem is as this blog has detailed ie. that the corruption involving the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal and related events reaches to such a high level – including the most senior members of the judiciary – that even Mansfield and Gareth Peirce won’t touch it. Perhaps they know that their own careers will be ruined if they take those cases. Perhaps they are simply too frightened – they will know that numerous witnesses to the north Wales case were found dead after complaining or giving evidence and in the case of the five witnesses who were killed in an arson attack in 1992, even the Court returned a verdict of ‘unlawful killing’ (see post ‘The Silence Of The Welsh Lambs’). The cynic in me observes that the radical lawyers had close connections to the inner London boroughs whose Councils were running the children’s homes where paedophiles had infiltrated and that those Councils were also sending children on placement to homes in north Wales. Paul Boateng’s own wife was a social worker and Councillor in Lambeth, which had one of the biggest problems with abuse of children in care in the UK. Those boroughs also pioneered community law centres, in which some of the radical lawyers worked when they were very young – they were not going to effectively represent people who had been abused by the staff of the organisation funding the law centre.

It was easier for Michael Mansfield and Gareth Peirce to represent clients like the Price sisters who proudly admitted to blowing up part of London than to represent people who had been raped by paedophiles employed as social workers and then unlawfully imprisoned and abused again by Top Doctors employed as psychiatrists.

It is clear from Michael Mansfield’s memoir that he has encountered the results of the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal – and child abuse by the state in other regions of the UK – and the abuse of psychiatry many times. Michael Mansfield spends time talking to and listening to people who have been crapped on by the state – he believes what they say as well and is acutely aware of just what the state will do to get itself out of trouble when little people have witnessed or gained evidence of wrongdoing by people in high places. Mansfield is also sensitive and intelligent enough to know that even when he is hearing a truly bizarre story from someone disorientated, there may well be much truth in the story and it’s that which he must identify. Interestingly Mansfield learnt this as a young man by talking to psychiatric patients from Friern Barnet Hospital when he had a job emptying the bins there – he was hearing hair-raising anecdotes and he gradually started to realise that the nutters were telling the truth about a great many matters. I noticed this phenomenon myself. I heard the most extraordinary things from patients that the Top Doctors and Angels tripped over themselves to dismiss as delusions and psychotic ramblings – and I watched and I listened and I realised that a great deal of what I was being told was true.

There used to be a number of people wandering around north Wales – I say used to be, because they have now nearly all died as a result of neglect from the mental health services – who claimed to have worked as prostitutes or groupies and to have had sex with a variety of well-known people or local bigwigs. These people were universally dismissed by the people paid to care for them as being ‘difficult’, having ‘upset people’ or being ‘troublemakers’. These insults were used to justify extreme neglect and even unlawful refusal of ‘services’. The people being left to die had all lived through the paedophile years in north Wales when vulnerable people – particularly kids in care and psychiatric patients – were sexually abused and exploited and trafficked into sex work. I know that this went on, I know some of the people who were doing it and I know that at least some of the people who were named by these virtually destitute patients were indeed sexually using vulnerable people. As Jimmy Savile knew, if you want to sexually assault people and get away with it sexually assault kids in care, learning disabled people or people labelled as having mental health problems. Not only will you get away with it but if your victims dare tell anyone what you have done they will be punished all over again by whoever it is ‘looking after’ them. And the Top Doctors will assist you by pouring venom upon your victims like there is no tomorrow.

Mansfield’s book mentions that he worked on behalf of people who were in trouble with the law for drug use. He’ll have known that there were both high levels of police corruption in the drug squads and that some Top Doctors working in the field were essentially dealers, often to rich elites. No doubt Mansfield also knew about the corruption in the Home Office Drugs Branch responsible for the oversight of controlled drugs (see post ‘Little Things Hitting Each Other’). Mansfield mentions Bernie Simons, an associate of Dr Ann Dally, dealer to the stars. I haven’t been able to find out who Bernie Simons was, but from what Mansfield says he seems to have been a solicitor as well as a drugs campaigner.

Throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s, Risley Remand centre served as the personal prison of Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends. Huge numbers of the prisoners there had passed through the north Wales children’s homes or mental health services. Mary Wynch was detained there unlawfully and I know of at least one other mental health patient in north Wales who was as well. The brutality at Risley was legendary and the suicide rate astronomical. I know three people – all mental health patients – who were in Risley in the 80s. They related accounts of hearing the screams of other prisoners at night as they were beaten up by the warders and of being assaulted by the warders themselves. One man had been left in complete darkness in his cell for a number of days after a prison officer removed the light bulb because the prisoner had complained about the bulb flickering on and off. The same man had been detained in Risley after the North Wales Drug Squad had framed he and his wife and assaulted him. Whilst he was in Risley he maintains that he was visited by an unidentified senior detective from London who tried to interrogate him about offences of which he knew nothing. The detective became angry with him, told him that there was no point questioning him because ‘you’re fucking mad’ and threw him back in his cell. This man was subsequently transferred to the ‘care’ of Dafydd in the North Wales Hospital Denbigh – where he stayed for a year. His complaints about the North Wales Police were never investigated. Another man described sharing a cell with a suicidal man who was trying to injure himself – the man whom I knew rang and rang for help but no-one answered the bell. His cell mate succeeded in killing himself and the man whom I spoke to was left alone in the cell with the corpse for some time. I was friendly with a lady who fostered a young man with mental health and drug problems. At the age of 18 he was detained in Risley – when my friend went to visit him he was visibly injured after a beating by the officers. My friend challenged the officers and was met with one of them boasting about how much he enjoyed beating the ‘little bastards’ up. There were some prisoners in Risley who were serious offenders, but there were many more who had been accused of trivial crimes but had been detained there on the orders of Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends ‘for psychiatric assessment’. Some like Mary Wynch had not committed any crime at all.

The wrongdoing at Risley permeated levels higher than the thugs employed as prison officers. The Waterhouse Report mentions the panel having sight of a letter allegedly written by a prisoner in Risley to Lucille Hughes in support of Nefyn and June Dodd, the managers of Ty’r Felin children’s home in Bangor. The Dodds were tremendously cruel to children in their care and the kids from that home were being trafficked to London and other locations for prostitution. Even Sir Ronnie Waterhouse accepted that the letter was forged and had not been written by the prisoner – a former resident of Ty’r Felin – at all. Not that Ronnie asked any questions, this was just another incident that was dismissed without investigation. So someone at Risley went to the trouble of forging a letter from a prisoner to Lucille Hughes at a time when the Dodds were under investigation and allegations of a paedophile ring operating in the children’s homes in north Wales were appearing in the media.

My own medical records provide evidence of corruption at Risley. In 1987 Dafydd Alun Jones told me over the telephone that if I didn’t drop my complaints about him he’d have me imprisoned in Risley. Brown heard this phone call as well. I ignored Dafydd’s threats and continued to try to pursue my complaints. Some months later a junior doctor working for Dafydd at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh made a statement to the police maintaining that I had tried to stab him – I was arrested and taken to Bangor Police Station. He claimed that I had pulled a knife out of my pocket and had brought the knife down upon him as though to stab him and the only reason that he wasn’t stabbed by me was that a male nurse had dragged me off him. The male nurse who allegedly rescued this junior doctor from my murderous attempt made a statement about the same incident. His statement maintained that I had shouted at the junior doctor because no-one was investigating my complaints about Dafydd et al – which was true. The nurse explained that I had a camping knife in my possession – this was in the days when camping knives could be legally purchased and held (yes, I was in north Wales camping at the time) – but I did not withdraw the knife, no-one saw the knife and I certainly didn’t try to stab anyone with it. Whilst I was at the police station, colleagues of Dafydd Alun Jones rang the police claiming that I had threatened to kill them. The custody sergeant was good enough to refuse to take their statements there and then and told me that ‘they’re all conspiring against you up there’. I later complained to the NHS about these events and observed to Alun Davies the corrupt manager of the mental health services that the custody sergeant had made this comment. Davies bellowed at me down the phone that he’d be ‘having a word with the police’ about that sergeant. The sergeant, Sgt Morgan, was some months later arrested and charged with indecently assaulting a teenaged girl in custody. Bangor Magistrates Court found him guilty and he was sacked from the North Wales Police. Before the police released me, Dafydd turned up at the police station, although he didn’t explain what he was doing there. Dafydd’s visit was very brief and involved him saying to me ‘I think ewe should be in prison’. The next day I returned to Leicester, where I was living at the time.

My complaint about the whole saga was never investigated and the junior doctor who lied in his statement to the police was never investigated either. Many years later when I finally obtained my medical records, I found a copy of a letter that had been written by an NHS administrator at Ysbyty Gwynedd at the time which stated that I was ‘now in Risley Remand Centre after stabbing someone with a knife’. Not only that, but there was a copy of a letter from the Mental Health Act Commission to the mental health services in north Wales, stating that as I was now in Risley Remand Centre they would write a letter to my home address in Leicester in response to my complaints about Dafydd et al.

I was never charged with attacking anyone with a knife. I had not appeared in Court in relation to attacking anyone with a knife and no request was made to any court at that time to have me remanded in Risley. So the Mental Health Act Commission cannot possibly have received any official documentation stating that this had happened. They had obviously just been told by one of their mates in the north Wales NHS – a mate who hadn’t realised that Dafydd’s plan had gone pear-shaped – that I was now safely in a cell in Risley, so of course a letter concerning my previous very serious complaints about Dafydd et al could be sent to my home address where the Mental Health Act Commission thought that I wasn’t. Problem dealt with. No investigation, patient framed and imprisoned for a serious offence, complaints about Dafydd’s previous criminal activities kicked into the long grass.

This whole sequence of events suggests corruption in the NHS, in Risley Remand Centre and in the Mental Health Act Commission. There was never an investigation into any of it or any of the people involved. People who included Dafydd, Dr Tony Francis (Dr X), Janice Davies (Dafydd’s henchwoman at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh), a Dr Ponnampalam, a Dr Khalid Siddiqui and David Ewart at the Mental Health Act Commission. Four years ago I discovered that Khalid Siddiqui was employed as an ‘independent doctor’ in the south east of England assessing people under the Mental Health Act. He is probably still doing this and getting paid handsomely for it.

In May 1989 Risley finally exploded in the form of a prison riot. A group of prisoners trashed a wing – not that there was much worth trashing, it wasn’t the Ritz – and a roof-top protest lasting three days took place. Michael Mansfield defended one of the leaders of the riot (not a man from north Wales). I remember Michael Mansfield writing in the press at the time about the appalling conditions, brutality and corruption at Risley. Mansfield’s client may not have come from north Wales, but I bet that Mansfield knew what was going on at Risley – as will have the other lawyers who worked with him on the case, Tim Owen and Jeremy Hawthorne – because of his habit of chatting at length to numerous people and knowing when he is hearing about corruption in high places. The jury acquitted the rioters at Risley. At the time of the Risley riot, the Home Secretary was Douglas Hurd, who was later replaced by David Waddington – members of the Gov’t who were wilfully ignoring the criminal misconduct that they were told was going on in north Wales.

Michael Mansfield came up against someone else who was networked into Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends when he represented Mohamed Al Fayed at the inquests of Dodi and Diana – Lord Thomas Scott Baker. Scott Baker had previously sat as a judge on the Chester and Wales Circuit and in 1995 had imprisoned a highly vulnerable woman, Susan Brooke, who had passed through the North Wales Hospital who had undoubtedly crossed the paths of the paedophiles’ friends (see posts ‘So Who’s Path Had Susan Brooke Crossed?’, ‘More On The Susan Brooke Case’ and ‘Update On The Cases Of Susan Brooke And Sara Thornton’). How Scott Baker ever made the career move from being a paedophiles’ friend in north Wales to the coroner holding the inquests of Dodi and Di I do not know – particularly as the inquests of Dodi and Di were the first inquests that Scott Baker had ever conducted. Press comment at the time suggested that Scott Baker had been specifically brought in for the inquests because he was the one person who was thought to be capable of standing up to Michael Mansfield.

Think about this. Mansfield is clever, has been around a long time, knew about north Wales and Risley and always does his homework well. He will have made it his business to rifle through Scott Baker’s undies before the inquests – and he will have known that Scott Baker had previously worked on the shamefully corrupt Chester and Wales Circuit and had been involved in the Susan Brooke case. As with the case of the paedophiles at the heart of Thatcher’s Gov’t, Mansfield could have really dug up the dirt on Scott Baker and used it. He didn’t. Perhaps because Scott Baker was in a position to throw even more dirt at Mansfield – dirt suggesting that Mansfield and his famous freedom fighters had remained silent about a viscious paedophile ring linked to organised crime which had resulted in the framing and imprisonment of scores of innocent people, the deaths of a great many witnesses and the collusion of some of Mansfield’s friends and colleagues.

Michael Mansfield knows how low the Top Doctors and those who care will stoop if they feel that it is necessary. Mansfield represented Angela Cannings, a mother wrongly convicted and imprisoned for the death of two of her children, on the basis of the ‘expert evidence’ provided by Sir Roy Meadow. Meadow was a paediatrician who managed to invent a new psychiatric diagnosis – Munchausens by Proxy – and also managed to make up some statistics which he then spouted off whilst in the witness box. No-one questioned him until a number of mothers had been wrongly imprisoned for killing their children. A number of real statisticians then came forward and demonstrated very clearly that Meadow didn’t know his arse from his elbow and a number of innocent people were subsequently released from prison. The most famous example was Sally Clark, a solicitor who’s character had been absolutely trashed by the Top Doctors after two of her children died in infancy. Sally was imprisoned and although she was released on appeal in 2003, she had been so destroyed by her experience that she died not long after release. Not that this was enough for the Top Doctors. After Sally Clark was released, Top Doctor Professor David Southall – another expert in Munchausens by Proxy – on the basis of no evidence at all then named Sally Clark’s husband as the murderer of the children. Probably because his eyes were too close together. Meadow and Southall were eventually disciplined by the GMC, but a rearguard action was supported by their colleagues -particularly in the case of Southall – and many articles sympathetic to them appeared in the liberal media, reminding us that Southall was a Brave Doctor Who Cared About Children. The fact that in the case of Sally Clark a pathologist actually discovered that one of her children had died of an infection but chose not to mention this before or during the trial was not discussed in the Southall-supporting media. Meadow and Southall both maxed out the appeals process and were eventually reinstated as Top Doctors.

Mansfield also defended Barry George, the man with a number of vulnerabilities who was found guilty of the well-planned assassination of Jill Dando, although he was at a day centre several miles away when Jill Dando was shot dead outside of her house. Jill Dando was a reporter on ‘Crimewatch’, a programme which led to several miscarriages of justice, although the BBC didn’t make reference to that when they boasted about ‘Crimewatch’s’ success the other day. ‘Crimewatch’ was responsible for the conviction of Michael Stone, another case that many people find very troubling. There was no forensic evidence against Michael Stone whatever, but a Top Doctor watching ‘Crimewatch’ saw the episode featuring the murder of Lin and Megan Russell and rang in saying that it was just the sort of thing that his patient Stone would have done. Stone remains in prison many years later and continues to profess his innocence. Dando’s colleague on ‘Crimewatch’ Sue Cook was a close friend of George Carman QC, the crooked barrister who had many good friends who were gangsters or bent police officers (see posts ‘No Ordinary Methods’ and ‘No Ordinary Methods – Supplementary Post’).

Mansfield is not naïve. He knows that Top Doctors lie, particularly to cover their tracks after they have screwed up and he knows that Top Doctors who stick their necks out and challenge their colleagues are subjected to witch-hunts by the medical establishment. Mansfield is well-acquainted with the facts involved some of the most high profile child protection disasters that there have been since the 1970s, 80s and 90s and later. Yet staggeringly, he described Esther Rantzen as a ‘vociferous and committed’ campaigner, citing Childline as evidence. The Esther who ‘didn’t know’ about Jimmy Savile, who ‘didn’t know’ about her former bedfellow Sir Nicholas Fairbain, the Esther who’s sister worked as a social worker for Lambeth Social Services whilst it had one the worst records on child protection in the UK, the Esther who appointed her sister’s manager as Chief Exec of Childline. The Childline that was alleged to have ignored calls from children in care who were being abused. The Esther who then ran a mental health campaign and who ignored a letter that I sent her about the criminal activities of Dr Dafydd Alun Jones et al. But then Mansfield’s PA Susie Haig worked as a counsellor for Childline. So Susie probably heard the same story that I heard from Childline then – that Esther was so dreadful when speaking to the children that they had to work hard to ensure that she didn’t actually answer any calls herself when she was gracing Childline with her presence to drum up a bit of good PR.

Mansfield did a lot of work for the NUM during the miners strike of 1984 and also defended Arthur Scargill when Scargill was arrested. Mansfield and Scargill were friends and established the Socialist Labour Party together. My post ‘It’s All About Protecting Children’ described how Arthur Scargill shared a platform in Bangor a few years ago with a paedophiles’ friend and how this particular paedophiles’ friend has married a lady who has stood for the Socialist Labour Party in north Wales in General Elections. Mansfield had an excellent grip on the police corruption and the various dirty tricks used to frame and prosecute miners who had themselves been assaulted by the police.

It was at this time that Mansfield got together with the lady who was to become his wife for 30 years, documentary maker Yvette Vanson. Vanson and Mansfield lived in Yorkshire for a while, Vanson researching for and making her films and Mansfield defending the miners. Mansfield and Vanson became very well-networked into the community in Yorkshire via a man called Terry Dunn and they also had connections on the ground in south Wales. Like north Wales, Yorkshire had a major problem with police corruption, a paedophile ring – and a man called Jimmy Savile who was involved with both. Surely Mansfield and Vanson heard SOMETHING about all of this? Terry Dunn must have known – Mansfield tells us that after the strike, Dunn did a degree at the LSE and ‘fought for trade union rights’ via an unidentified charity in London. Mansfield was a lawyer and Vanson was a producer of TV documentaries about people having a hard time – people like Mansfield and Vanson are approached constantly by people who’ve been stuffed over asking for help. This even happened to me after I appeared in the media talking about the abuses of the mental health services and I’m not famous – but people rang me, they e mailed and they wrote. Anyone speaking publicly about the abuse of people who feel powerless definitely gets approached by people who’ve suffered at the hands of the oppressors.

It is to Yvette Vanson to whom I will now turn, because I suspect that Yvette Vanson knows so much she would be capable of writing a blog like this and she must have shared some of what she knew with Michael Mansfield.

Yvette Vanson went to the Royal College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, 1968-70 and also did a degree in social sciences at a later date. In 1979 Vanson landed a job with the BBC Community Programmes Unit with Mike Fentiman, only to find herself then blacklisted because of her previous involvement with the Workers Revolutionary Party (WRP). The BBC at the time was reputed to employ a member of MI5 who beavered away screening out undesirables and Vanson was one of them. So Vanson occupied herself doing other things for a few years, including producing training videos with Tony Wardle for East Sussex Social Services. Vanson is the sort of TV producer who gets to know her subject well, she too mixes and chats with people who are being exploited and abused. Vanson is not daft and her – extensive – work for East Sussex Social Services will have undoubtedly brought her face to face with bad practice, a dysfunctional social care system and neglect and abuse of clients. Vanson also made a documentary about the Mental Health Act – that was the Act which was drafted by Professor Robert Bluglass who two years later covered up the criminal activities of Dafydd and Dr Tony Francis which included breaking the law enshrined in that Act. Vanson worked in other areas of disability as well, which brought her into close contact with people from SCOPE and Leonard Cheshire – both organisations which have been accused of the abuse of vulnerable people. She will have known something.

Vanson took her film crew into Lambeth Town Hall when Lambeth Council workers were staging a sit-in – a Jim O’Brien was leading the workers’ protest. Ever think of mentioning what was happening to the kids in the care of Lambeth to the film crew then Jim?

Vanson made ‘Kentucky Fried Medicine’, a critique of the US healthcare system. She noticed only a ‘very, very few people who were willing to criticise and risk their jobs’. She’ll have noticed the same phenomenon in the UK NHS but she doesn’t mention that – Vanson made a documentary called ‘Stitching Up The NHS’.

In 1984, Vanson managed to find her way back into the BBC again, once more working with the BBC Community Programmes Unit and names Mike Fentimen and Tony Lye as people with whom she worked.

I have a friend who worked for the BBC in the late 80s and early 90s – in the documentary commissioning department. My friend maintained that the dept was openly corrupt and his boss had a huge row with him after my friend refused to accept bribes. My friend was told by this boss that he’d make sure that my friend would never work in London again. Weeks later my friend was transferred to Manchester and was made redundant shortly afterwards. The name of the BBC executive whom my friend alleged was involved? Paul Hayman. I was also told that Hayman had a huge in-tray on his desk full of ideas for commissions that documentary makers had sent in and that Hayman would invite chosen people into his office and tell them to take their pick of the other people’s ideas. Vanson mentions working with Paul Hayman when she produced ‘Presumed Guilty’ for BBC’s Inside Story.

The interview which Vanson gave from which I have obtained my information about her career didn’t mention the sort of rampant corruption witnessed by my friend at the BBC, but Vanson does talk about some people at the BBC editing her work to such an extent that the documentary was changed as well as the reluctance of certain people at the BBC to produce anything that the Gov’t might throw a hissy fit over. In the wake of Vanson’s documentary about the miners’ strike ‘Taking Liberties’, the BBC threatened to close the whole Community Programmes unit.

Vanson seemed to have been particularly irked by Liz Forgan, although when Forgan was getting on Yvette Vanson’s tits I think Forgan might have been working for Channel 4 – Vanson made documentaries for them as well. Liz Forgan is now Dame Liz. She was Editor of the Guardian Women’s pages 1978-82, then a Guardian columnist 1997-98 and then a non-executive director of the Guardian Media Group from 1998. Forgan was founding Commissioning Editor and then Director of Programmes at Channel 4, 1981-90. In 1993 she was appointed MD of BBC Network Radio, but she left the BBC in 1996 over a row with the DG John Birt concerning moving BBC Radio News from Broadcasting House to Television Centre. (Which seems an extraordinary thing to leave one’s job over – couldn’t Liz have resigned over Savile or all the corruption or something worthwhile?) Between 2001-08 Forgan was Chair of the National Heritage Memorial Fund and the Heritage Lottery Fund. In 2009 Dame Liz became Chair of the Arts Council of England – this was seen as a Labour Party appointment and Liz must have pissed a few other people off as well as Yvette Vanson, because in 2010 the Coalition Gov’t cut the Arts Council’s budget by nearly 30%. In 2003 Forgan was appointed Chair of the Scott Trust, the company which owns the Guardian Media Group and which is responsible for appointing the Editor of the Guardian.

Other notables as well as Liz have occupied the position of Chair of the Scott Trust. Hugo Young was in that role immediately prior to Liz – it was on Young’s watch that Alan Rusbridger who was Editor of the Guardian between 1995-2015 was appointed. The Chair before Young was Alistair Hetherington, who was appointed in 1984.

I first heard about Hetherington in 1982 from two of my friends who were studying film and media at Stirling University. They told me about a huge row that had blown up which had found its way into ‘The Scotsman’ – the University had appointed Hetherington, a journo, to a Research Chair. This was one of the first appointments by a UK university of a non-academic to a Chair and the fur flew. There were allegations that Stirling had only done this to toady to people in high places and that Hetherington had none of the qualities needed to successfully occupy the role. The students protested and my friends were signatories to the letter of protest that was sent to ‘The Scotsman’. Hetherington was appointed nonetheless – but it looks like my friends were right to have had their reservations, because Hetherington was never seen in the University, certainly didn’t do any research and buggered off in 1984 to Chair the Scott Trust. Whilst at the Scott Trust Hetherington received very serious grief from the NUJ. He supported Peter Preston as Editor of the Guardian and played a substantial role in the appointment of Hugo Young as his own successor as Chairman of the Scott Trust. So who was this man whom Stirling University prostrated themselves before?

Alistair was the son of Sir Hector Hetherington, a Professor at University College Cardiff and then Principal of the University of Glasgow. Whilst serving in the army in WWII Hetherington was a major in the Intelligence Corps. In 1950 he joined the Manchester Guardian as a journo and in 1953 Hetherington became Editor. Hetherington claimed to be a campaigner for social justice – he was present at the founding of CND and attended the preliminary meetings at the house of Lord Simon Wythenshawe, along with Sir Bernard Lovell and Bertrand Russell. Yet Hetherington did not support or join CND – indeed Hetherington actually tried to launch his own movement with aims directly in opposition to CND. Years later he performed another U turn over Vietnam, after meeting US military commanders in Saigon. In 1959 Hetherington oversaw the evolution of the ‘Manchester Guardian’ into the ‘Guardian’ and the office subsequently relocated to London. The ‘Guardian’ lost a great deal of money but was kept afloat by its sister paper, the ‘Manchester Evening News’.

Hetherington was close to Harold Wilson but even closer to Jo Grimond, the Liberal MP who would have become leader of the Party had Thorpe not got there instead. Hetherington spent 20 years writing leading articles to promote Liberal-Labour co-operation in order to defeat the Tories.

In 1975 Michael Swann, the Chairman of the BBC, offered Hetherington the post of Controller of BBC Scotland. There was as much trouble following that appointment as there was when Hetherington landed the Chair at Stirling. Hetherington  clashed with the DG at the BBC, Charles Curran and in 1978 was sacked by Curran’s successor, Ian Trethowan. Hetherington had to slum it as the manager of BBC Radio Highland until he was offered the Chair at Stirling.

Hetherington’s mate Michael Swann was a molecular biologist. Between 1965-74 he was Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh. In 1972 Swann was confronted with much trouble from the students, led by one Gordon Brown, who had been elected Rector. Ted Heath was so wowed at Swann’s ‘strong leadership’ at Edinburgh that he gave Swann a knighthood and then in 1974 appointed him as Chair of the BBC. In 1979 Swann was appointed Chancellor of York University and in 1981 he was given a peerage. Swann’s brother Hugh was Cabinet Maker to HM the Queen.

The present Chair of the Scott Trust is Andrew Graham. His CV has all the right ingredients – Sunday Times, LWT, Channel 4, Fellow of the Royal Television Society and Royal Society of Arts…

Today’s Mail Online published an angry article demanding to know why so many ‘left wing luvvies’ are heads of Oxbridge Colleges. A number of sinners were named and shamed, including Mark Damazar (latterly of the BBC), Alan Rusbridger, Jackie Ashley (Guardian columnist and wife of Andrew Marr of the BBC) and dear old Baroness Helena Kennedy. I don’t think that the elevation to great heights of such folk has much to do with them being lefties or luvvies. Like the people at the top of the Daily Mail, one reason why none of this lot have been blown out of the water is that they have all kept schtum about the organised sexual abuse of children by public figures and senior politicians and civil servants.

Vanson won a Royal Television Society award for her film about sexual harassment at work, ‘Making Advances’. The film was presented by Emma Freud. This was pre-Savile, pre-Rolf and pre-Stuart Hall. And indeed pre-Clement Freud, Emma’s father.

There is one TV documentary made by Vanson that I am particularly interested in. It was a documentary that was screened by BBC Wales in approx. 1996-97 entitled ‘Breaking the Mold’ and it concerned the fight to save Theatre Clwyd which was facing closure. Vanson mentions working with the commissioning editor of BBC Wales, John Geraint on a programme about Aberfan, so I’m wondering if he commissioned ‘Breaking The Mold’.

Theatre Clwyd was the baby of the former Chief Exec of Clwyd County Council, T.M. Hadyn Rees. Hadyn Rees was Chief Exec of Clwyd 1974-77 – as the paedophile gang raged in children’s homes run by Clwyd County Council. Hadyn Rees was a lawyer who was a member of the Welsh Arts Council, 1968-77. Hadyn Rees, like his successor Mervyn Phillips, had a great many fingers in a great many pies. Further details of the numerous fingers and pies involving these paedophiles’ friends can be read in my post ‘Ain’t Nothing Clean – Not Even The Welsh Calvinistic Methodists’. The upshot was that Hadyn Rees and Mervyn Phillips spearheaded huge projects which purchased them much kudos and power within north Wales yet it was never clear how these projects were funded. Whilst all this was happening, there were constant financial crises in Clwyd County Council  – the money just seemed to disappear but on what was unfathomable, because the Council certainly weren’t spending it on services for the citizens of Clwyd. Again and again there are references in local gov’t documents to the terrible financial problems in Clwyd – the Council had to go cap in hand to various places for bail outs, there was a huge row because the rates/council tax had to be hiked up to one of the highest levels in the UK and after the abolition of Clwyd County Council at the time of the submission of the Jillings Report into the abuse of children in the care of the Council, an enormous black hole in the funds was revealed which was carried over into the new organisation, Flintshire County Council. At the retirement party of Roger Parry, the Finance Chief of Clwyd, jokes were made about Roger’s catchphrase being ‘struggling on’, although there were many warm words for him from senior officers who remembered how he ‘rescued’ the Council at a time of crisis. Roger himself told the party that he was glad that he was able to save the day, but warned everyone not to embezzle the Council funds after his retirement.

Theatre Clwyd was a grand enterprise from the outset – it was opened in 1976 by HM the Queen and for a theatre in a small rural town in north Wales it really is quite impressive. The official narrative regarding the funding of the theatre is that it is funded by Clwyd County Council. It hit the buffers in about 1996 and was facing closure – this happened when Tom Middlehusrt was Chief Exec of Flintshire County Council. Just after the Jillings Report had confirmed the most dreadful abuse of children in Clwyd and the possible presence of a paedophile ring, just as the Waterhouse Inquiry was ordered. Just after Clwyd County Council had disappeared in a puff of smoke leaving the huge black hole in its wake – and when the newly created Flintshire County Council was ordered by Michael Beloff QC, the legal advisor to their insurers, to never release the Jillings Report to anyone, even the Councillors, on the grounds that what had happened to the children in care was so indefensible that the insurers would withdraw the Council’s cover if the Report was made public and the Council members themselves would be personally liable for the damages and costs if any of the former children in care sued. Michael Beloff QC styled himself a human rights/civil liberties barrister – he was a colleague of Mansfield, Gareth Peirce, Cherie Booth et al.

Tom Middlehurst – who later became the AM for Alyn and Deeside – is credited for having helped save Theatre Clwyd, although I can’t quite work out HOW. What is clear though is that Middlehurst managed to drum up a great deal of good publicity for the Theatre, which included Vanson’s documentary. Vanson herself described Theatre Clwyd as ‘really inspirational’ and in retrospect suggested that perhaps her film had helped the theatre stay open and that it was one of her ‘campaigning successes’. The person running Theatre Clwyd at the time was Helena Kaut-Howson, who is now a very big name in theatre internationally. David Hanson MP – another one of the paedophiles’ friends who is married to Margaret Hanson, the current Vice-Chair of the deadly Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board – spoke in Parliament about the crisis facing the theatre and described Theatre Clwyd as ‘an important social and cultural asset of north Wales’.

Middlehurst summoned up a very big name indeed in order to save the paedophiles’ friends’ extravagant folly – he contacted Terry Hands, who became CEO and Director of Theatre Clwyd in 1997. Terry Hands was one of the founders of the Liverpool Everyman Theatre in 1964. Hands went to school in Woking and studied at the University of Birmingham and RADA. After establishing the Everyman, in 1966 Hands joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and in 1986 became its CEO. Then in 1997 he gave the paedophiles’ friends an enormous helping hand. Hands also became the Vice-President of the Llangollen International Eisteddfod – scores of the paedophiles’ friends are associated with that festival and for a number of years Sir Ronnie Waterhouse was President. Hands is or was visiting Professor at the Atrium at the University of South Wales and is or was Joint President of the Arvon Foundation. The Arvon Foundation is a charity which promotes creative writing and runs a number of residential writing retreats. Poets previously involved with the Arvon Foundation include Ted Hughes, Seamus Heaney and Philip Larkin. Former tutors include Willy Russell, Ian McEwan, Andrew Motion, Carol Ann Duffy, Ian Rankin and Will Self. Hands left Theatre Clwyd in 2015, by which time it was the most successful theatre in Wales. In 2014 Wales Online had reported that Theatre Clwyd’s funding was at risk again – at this point Colin Everett was the Chief Exec of Flintshire County Council. Wales Online reported that the theatre had its own production company which travelled across the UK – the theatre company was described as being ‘subsidised’ by Flintshire County Council, which had left the Council with a big bill…

I have no idea how Middlehurst managed to rope Terry Hands in, but I note that Middlehurst went to Liverpool Poly. The Everyman was a huge cult in Liverpool and it fancied itself as bohemian and political. By the mid-70s some people who became very influential were associated with the Everyman, including Julie Walters, Cathy Tyson, Pete Postlethwaite and Matthew Kelly. The Everyman was associated with actors and writers on the left who had originated from working class backgrounds.

Pete Postlethwaite died not so long ago and spent the last part of his life in Shropshire. In 1987 he began a relationship with the woman whom he married in 2003, Jacqui, who was a BBC producer. In 1994 Pete Postlethwaite starred in  ‘Sin Bin’, directed by George Case. Postlethwaite played the part of a prison officer in a secure hospital in which one patient murders another. Case and the scriptwriter obviously had a very good knowledge of what goes on in secure hospitals – scenes involved the prison officers making crude sexual jokes about the patients, about the crimes that they were alleged to have committed which resulted in them being banged up and mocking notions such as ‘service users’. Like the film ‘Scum’ which portrayed the brutality inside a young offenders institution some ten years previously, ‘Sin Bin’ accurately portrayed the attitudes of staff – but it wasn’t quite as bad as those institutions are in real life. In the way that ‘Scum’ didn’t portray the staff sexually assaulting the boys, no-one banged up in ‘Sin Bin’ was there because they’d dared mention that they’d been abused in care or by the Top Doctors.

It is significant that both ‘Scum’ and ‘Sin Bin’ were fiction – not even Yvette Vanson made a documentary about the institutions that the paedophiles’ friends ran. She just made a film about their theatre when it had bankrupted the Council. Again.

Matthew Kelly spent much of his career pursuing a rather different path to his contemporaries at the Everyman. Like Julie Walters and Victoria Wood, Kelly trained at Manchester Poly – and like Vanson and Gareth Peirce he had been a member of the Workers Revolutionary Party. Kelly spent years presenting light entertainment shows such as ‘Game For A Laugh’ and ‘Stars In Their Eyes’. Until in 2003 – when he was arrested over allegations of child sexual abuse, as part of Operation Arundel. Operation Arundel resulted in the imprisonment of Jonathan King who like Kelly was investigated for abusing underaged boys in the 1970s. Kelly was never charged, on the grounds that the CPS did not have sufficient evidence. Another person investigated as part of the same operation was Tam Paton, the former manager of the Bay City Rollers, one of whom was imprisoned for the possession of child porn whilst he was working as a nurse in middle age. After Jonathan King was released from prison he angrily denounced what he claimed was the hypocrisy of those who had prosecuted him and excluded him from polite society. King maintained that he knew scores of other people in the entertainment industry who had done exactly what he had done but who had not been prosecuted. He also claimed that the judge who sentenced him to seven years inside had been at Cambridge with him and had also been having sex with underaged boys. I note that no-one ever sued Jonathan King regarding that allegation.

Although Matthew Kelly was not prosecuted, he was certainly very shaken and distressed by the police investigation. Granada and ITV supported him – as did Julie Walters – and said that they looked forward to his return, but Kelly didn’t return. He kept a very low profile for the next ten years and only relatively recently began making public appearances again.

I have no idea whether Matthew Kelly ever has been involved with under-aged boys as accused, but I do know that people in the entertainment industry will robustly support people whom they are aware may be conducting themselves in a questionable manner. Greg Dyke’s book ‘Inside Story’ mentions that Michael Barrymore’s behaviour was so bad and so bizarre that people found him nigh-on impossible to work with. Dyke maintains that ‘everyone’ knew that Barrymore was gay and that he would disappear for days at a time when he was supposed to be filming. This went on many years before a sexually injured corpse was found in Barrymore’s swimming pool of which Barrymore claimed to know nuzzing.

There was an article in the ‘Morning Star’ today about culture/plays for the working classes, headed ‘Workers’ Play Time’. I wondered if it might mention Terry Hands, the Everyman, Mike Leigh etc, but it didn’t. However I discovered a whole new world. The article was written by Doug Nicholls, the GFTU (General Federation of Trade Unions) General Secretary. Doug was previously General Secretary of the union CYWU (Community and Youth Workers Union), 1987-2007, which represented youth workers, workers in youth theatre, community education, outdoor education, play workers and personal advisors. Don’t tell me that they didn’t know something about the sexual exploitation of young people. The CYWU joined the TGWU in 2006 and is now part of UNITE.  The CYWU used to publish their own magazine, ‘Rapport’. I’ve had a very quick look through a vintage copy and it comments on the sort of thing that I suspected that it would – it mentions the NCCL and Patricia Hewitt and there is a lot of confusion about sexuality. There are some people maintaining that they should be able to come out as gay or lesbian and act as a ‘role model’ to the youngsters, but these people are opposed by other members taking an overly bigoted or macho stance with references to poofs and lesbians in tweed. It is in such fetid atmospheres that the sexual exploitation of young people flourishes….

Michael Mansfield lived in Wandsworth whilst St George’s Hospital Medical School and Springfield Hospital concealed the serious criminal activities in north Wales. Wandsworth is just down the road from St George’s and Springfield, loads of the staff of those hospitals live in Wandsworth. I know for a fact that David Hole the corrupt MSF rep did – he knew what had happened to me in north Wales.
