A Legend Lives

BBC News Wales have reported that 46,000 patients have had to find new Top Doctors in the past five years after GPs practices have shut. Last year’s closures were the highest in the five-year period, with the BMA saying the closures put ‘extra pressure’ on the system. The situation is particularly bad in north Wales, with many patients, including the elderly, having to travel many miles to see a GP. The patients will be on buses as well, not in expensive cars like the Top Docs.

Dr Charlotte Jones, Chair of the BMA’s GP Committee Wales, said surgeries were struggling to stay afloat due to problems recruiting and retaining doctors, the ‘sheer volume’ of workloads, ‘under-resourcing’ and ‘overwhelming bureaucracy’.

Duw it’s hard, with the Top Docs being among the highest paid people in Wales, with many of them working a whole three days/week and many now retiring at 55 yrs old .

Charlotte, can I ask if Dr D.G.E. Wood, who facilitated the trafficking gang in north Wales, is still playing a leading role in GP training in north Wales and the Royal College of GPs? In 2017 Dr Eamonn Jessup, a GP from north Wales, Spoke Out About The Crisis. Eamonn is or was a colleague of Wood’s, they were both popping over to Cyprus to hold clinics together!

BBC News Wales also reported today that homeless people in Wrexham – Wrexham now has one of the biggest homelessness problems in Wales – will be housed in shipping containers. Not permanently, that would be greedy of them. They will be housed in shipping containers over Christmas. They won’t all be able to fit into the shipping containers, because only a few shipping containers will be available and there are more homeless people than shipping containers, but at least a lucky few will have a shipping container over their heads for Christmas.

By the age of 40, D.G.E. Wood was living in the second most expensive house in the expensive (by Anglesey standards) village of Llandegfan. The most expensive house was owned by Top Doctor Terry Maxwell, the Medical Director of Ysbyty Gwynedd. Terry Maxwell presided over slaughter and scandal and was given a performance-related pay award in return for cutting the already terrible mental health services, in the run up to the Waterhouse Inquiry. After Maxwell did his best, many patients became destitute and some died. Maxwell was a heart and lung specialist who trained at Liverpool. Liverpool thought so much of Terry Maxwell that in 1984, Liverpool University rang up Terry Maxwell’s daughter Sonia and offered her a place to do medicine, even though she hadn’t applied to Liverpool. Sonia continued to turn her nose up at Liverpool and trained at one of the London hospitals instead. She returned to Gwynedd to practice as a GP in Llanberis. Sonia Maxwell is one of the GPs in Llanberis who unlawfully refused to treat a Hergest Unit patient who had complained after being wrongfully imprisoned on the basis of the perjury of Hergest staff. For further details see post ‘Maxwell’s Silver Hammer’.

Some 20 years ago, a cardiologist from Ysbyty Gwynedd, Dr David Thomas, attempted suicide by driving his car over the edge of a mountain. He was sacked by Ysbyty Gwynedd, publicly denounced, sectioned and admitted to the Hergest Unit where all confidentiality was broken. I always wondered what it was that Dr Thomas had been so frightened of, particularly as it involved Terry Maxwell (see post ‘A Mystery From Twenty Years Ago’).

Let me remind the dedicated, committed, Top Docs of the wider UK of a few more of their activities.

Readers might remember that after Blair won his electoral landslide in May 1997, the Tories began ripping each others throats out and held a leadership contest. This was the moment that Heseltine had wanted, another chance for him to have a final stab at becoming Tory leader and eventually PM, but Hezza was getting on a bit and had previously experienced a heart attack when he was living it up in Venice in 1993. Hezza had been filmed climbing from a hospital trolley into an ambulance looking like death warmed up and later maintained that this was because he had gout. Hezza’s gout caused him to take four months off work and the gout also prevented him from conducting himself as usual ie. waving the Mace around, making weak jokes about the Labour Party, flicking his hairstyle about and generally being a tosser. He did make an appearance at the Party Conference, but what with that gout, he wasn’t up and leading them all in a rousing speech, he just entertained the crowd with a few arm movements.

The candidates for the Tory leadership in 1997 were Ken Clarke, Peter Lilley, William Hague, Michael Howard and John Redwood. Hague of course won, among much bad feeling, because the constituency parties had overwhelmingly wanted Ken Clarke, but the Parliamentary Party wanted Hague. The constituency parties were unaware that the Parliamentary Party were eternally grateful to Hague for organising the Waterhouse Inquiry, thus concealing the barrel of shit which was the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal and the key role that Thatcher’s personal friend, the Tory MP for Chester, Sir Peter Morrison – who had been found safely dead on 13 July 1995 – played in it. Bing Spear, the corrupt Chief Inspector of the Home Office Drugs Branch who was so accommodating re Dafydd (see post ‘Little Things Hitting Each Other’), had died on 9 July 1995. So that was two problems out of the way before the Waterhouse Inquiry.

Heseltine didn’t in the end stand in the leadership contest, although he was the stand-out favourite when John Major announced his resignation. Heseltine is someone who knows about the Westminster Paedophile Ring and the role that Dafydd and the gang played in it. Heseltine was the Tory MP for Tavistock in Devon, 1966-74 and knew all about his fellow Devon MP, Jeremy Thorpe. Heseltine then served as the MP for Henley, 1974-2001 and held numerous Ministerial, Shadow Cabinet and Cabinet roles, under Heath, Thatcher and Major. He was in Gov’t with Peter Morrison and Norman St John Stevas – another MP whom I was told when I worked in London was known to be abusing boys – and will have known about the rest of the allegations of organised abuse that were concealed until very recently. Heseltine came from Swansea and there was an abuse gang in west Wales with links to Dafydd’s crew in north Wales.

Even Heseltine’s much trumpeted success at regenerating Liverpool, a cause close to his heart, was achieved – if indeed it was achieved – as a result of his close working relationship with Sir Trevor Jones, the Liberal leader of Liverpool City Council. Trevor Jones was born in north Wales to Welsh parents and he was networked into the empire of Dafydd’s gang (see post ‘He Knows Where The Bodies Are Buried’). It was Heseltine who arranged for the first of five bi-annual National Garden Festivals to be held in Liverpool in 1984. Trevor Jones arranged for the City Council to delegate the bid to the Merseyside Development Corporation, of which Trevor Jones was a Director. More than 3 million people eventually attended. Two of those people were Brown and me. When Liz Stables, the Angel who worked at the Student Health Centre at Bangor University, was still pretending to be friends with Brown and me and was extracting information from us which she then relayed back to Dr D.G.E. Wood and others in Dafydd’s gang, Liz gave us a lift to Liverpool to go to the Garden Festival. Liz knew Liverpool well, she had been a teacher there in the 1960s and used to tell me about the girls in her class whom she knew were working as prostitutes. Liz kept in touch with some of them as their adult lives really hit the pits and they ended up addicted to Class A drugs, in prison etc. At the time I thought that Liz was showing genuine friendship to some people who’d had a terrible time, but now I know that Liz was mates with Dafydd et al and that Dafydd’s gang were procuring young people for sex work outside of north Wales, including in Liverpool, I find Liz’s interest in the lives of those women rather worrying. Liz left Liverpool and teaching in 1969 to train and then work as an Angel in the old C&A Hospital in Bangor, where Dafydd and the gang were operating…

My post ‘Those Who Are Ready To Serve’ provided details of Heseltine’s role in the future of Westland Helicopters, a small ailing company in Somerset, which employed Janet Mitchell, a girl who was one of my playmates when I was young and who knew what had happened/was happening to me in north Wales, who’s career took off like a rocket after Heseltine took a sudden inexplicable interest in Westland.

After deciding not to stand for the Tory leadership in 1997, Heseltine, a very rich man thanks to his property developing and publishing business, devoted himself to his arboretum and 50 acre garden. There is archive footage of Heseltine and his family being interviewed after Heseltine left politics and every one of them ends up in tears at the memory of poor old Hezza never becoming PM, including of course Hezza himself. Is it not touching that as with Thatch, the only time that these people show any emotion is when they are kicked out of high office or indeed don’t reach it?

One of the archive clips about Hezza enlightened me as to the reason why Hezza decided not to stand for the Tory leadership in 1997. It was as a result of a conversation that Hezza had with his Top Doctor, the cardiologist Peter Mills, under who’s care Hezza was after that nasty attack of gout. After his conversation with Peter Mills resulted in Hezza deciding not to stand himself, Hezza supported Ken Clarke for the leadership.

Peter Mills, like all the best Top Docs, will have known about the Westminster Paedophile Ring, but Mills will have had a particular hotline to and interest in Dafydd and the gang, because Peter Mills, when a young Top Doctor, had worked at St George’s Hospital Medical School, which for years concealed Dafydd’s gang and a linked paedophile/trafficking gang in south London.

In an interview about his career, Mills was quoted as saying: ‘My father was a GP but I was always rather rebellious and so chose to read biochemistry at Oxford. I realised I was wrong and changed to medicine when it became apparent I was more interested in people than science. In contrast to today’s young medics, who seem forced to decide at medical school which career path to follow in order to shape their CV, we had much more freedom to choose our speciality relatively later. I believe cardiology chose me, rather than the other way around. An unexpected vacancy arose at St Georges Hospital at Hyde Park Corner where I was a locum and so I was invited to study Cardiology.’

Not only did many of the staff at St George’s conceal organised abuse, but Professor Oliver Brooke was employed as a paediatrician there from the mid-1970s until he was jailed for the possession of child porn in 1986. Brooke was a key figure in a pan-European paedophile gang. After Brooke was jailed, his colleagues and friends remained working at St George’s colluding with the gang, some of them being active members. See post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III’.

Ken Clarke knew what was going on at St George’s when Clarke was Health Minister and subsequently Secretary of State for Health, 1988-90. Furthermore, it was when Clarke was in Health that he and Thatch had to sort out a little local difficulty re St George’s. The original St George’s Hospital at Hyde Park Corner had been developed as a result of a bequest given by the Duke of Westminster in the 18th century. After St George’s had relocated to its new site in Tooting in 1980, the then Duke of Westminster, Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, told Thatch and Ken Clarke that he wanted the market price for the original site which had been donated by his ancestor. The Hyde Park Corner site was a piece of Knightsbridge real estate worth millions. The Gov’t refused the Duke’s request, but instead resolved the problem by letting the Duke buy the Hyde Park Corner site for £6000.

The Duke of Westminster was the President of the City of Chester Conservative Party’s Constituency Association, the local MP being Sir Peter Morrison. Gyles Brandreth succeeded Morrison as Tory MP for Chester and Gyles has been frank that Morrison ‘having sex with little boys’ was openly gossiped about by members of the constituency association as well as local people whom Gyles met when he was campaigning. The Duke of Westminster was a close friend of Carlo. Peter Morrison’s sister Dame Mary Morrison spent most of her life as Woman of the Bedchamber to Lilibet.

Boys from Bryn Estyn were taken to the Duke’s estate for ‘work experience’ but refused to return there without explaining why.

Peter Mills worked as a consultant cardiologist at the Royal London Hospital and subsequently the London Chest Hospital, which both became part of Bart’s Health, for around 35 years. It was Barts who found that they were ‘unable to revive’ John Smith, the leader of the Labour Party, after his heart attack on 12 May 1994. Matt Arnold, the Head of Bryn Estyn, died from an ‘unspecified blood disease’ on 9 June 1994. On 13 June 1994 the trial of Arnold’s friend and colleague Peter Howarth and Paul Wilson for sexual offences against boys in care began.

Dafydd’s mate Professor Linford Rees was a leading light at Barts for many years and provided much protection for Dafydd. Linford Rees was from west Wales and furthermore had extensive showbiz connections via his daughter, the actress Angharad Rees and her husband Christopher Cazenove (see post ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’). Barts’ concealing of organised abuse was given a further helping hand by the very close connections that Lady Juliet Bingley of MIND had with Bart’s – Juliet’s father had been a surgeon at Bart’s and Juliet worked for a while as a medical almoner (social worker) at Bart’s. Juliet’s son William continued the collusion with Dafydd et al in William’s capacity as Legal Director of MIND and then Chief Exec of the Mental Health Act Commission (see previous posts).

So after the chat with the Top Doc who was formerly of St George’s and Barts, old Hezza decided to offer Ken Clarke his support with regard to Clarke’s ambitions to lead the Tory Party and ultimately become PM. The Ken who was at the scene when the Duke of Westminster – Britain’s richest man – picked up a prime piece of Knightsbridge that the NHS was flogging off for a bit of loose change.

The information concerning Peter Mills’s career is provided on the website of Cavendish Medical. Cavendish Medical is a company which provides ‘financial planning’ services for ‘senior medical and NHS professionals’. I don’t think that Cavendish Medical simply manage the Top Docs’ Post Office savings accounts. Mills talks about his hobbies, which includes medieval art and explains that he has a ‘travel fund’ which enables him to jet around the globe in pursuit of this interest, the travel fund resulting from his Cavendish investments.

Peter Mills was Chairman of Cardiology SAC for the Royal College of Physicians, 2002-06, which involved Mills taking a leading role in the education of cardiologists. In 2015, the media reported that ‘Dr Peter Mills, the Football Association’s regional cardiologist for South East England’, was found by the High Court to have been negligent with regard to his treatment of Tottenham Hotspur footballer Radwen Hamed, who in 2006, when he was 17, suffered a cardiac arrest in his first game for the club and was left brain damaged. It was believed that the damages could reach £7 million.

The archive film of the interview with Hezza included a camera shot of the name plate of Peter Mills’ Harley Street practice, which showed that Mills shared his practice with Top Docs Duncan Empey and Michael Wareing.

I presume that Duncan Empey is Prof Duncan Empey, who has helpfully provided the following details on his LinkedIn profile:

Medical Director, Barts and The London NHS Trust, 1994-01

Professor Emeritus, University of Hertfordshire, March 2009-March 2012;

Group Medical Director, BMI Healthcare, Jan 2008-Dec 2012

Top Doctor Michael Wareing is an ENT specialist who works at The London Clinic. Wareing has his own website ‘145 ENT’, which contains the following information:

‘Welcome to the website for Mr Michael Wareing, MBBS BSc, FRCS(ORL-HNS), Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon. Michael Wareing is a London based Consultant Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Surgeon. He has an NHS practice which is based at St Bartholomew’s & The Royal London Hospitals, where he has also been the Head of the ENT Department in 2 separate spells, 2003-9 and 2012-14. His private practice is based at The London Clinic where he has a fully equipped consulting suite at 145 Harley Street. Mr Wareing has over 25 years experience as a doctor and has been a consultant since 2000. He offers expertise in all aspects of General ENT as well as supraspecialist knowledge in Ear & Skull Base Surgery, Voice Disorders, Dizziness & Tinnitus, Sinus Disease and Children’s Ear Problems. He has concentrated his private practice in one place to ensure the very best continuity of care for all his patients’.

The ‘profile’ section on Wareing’s website tells us that: ‘Michael Wareing was educated at the Haberdasher Aske’s School for Boys, Elstree and entered St Bartholomew’s Medical School (Barts) in 1982. Following success in his preclinical studies, he took the opportunity to spend a year of further study to complete a BSc in Pharmacology. He returned to his clinical training at Barts in 1985 where he developed an interest in ENT, and won the Sydney Scott Prize for Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) in 1988. He qualified as a doctor in the same year.

He worked in a number of busy posts in Neurosurgery, General Surgery and A&E in southeast England during his general surgical training, before taking up an ENT position at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. During this time he passed both the General Surgical and ENT Fellowships of The Royal College of Surgeons of England. His specialty ENT training gave him experience and expertise not only in District General Hospitals, but also in tertiary referral centres such as Guys, Kings & St Thomas’ Hospitals, and the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children. He also developed a particular subspecialty interest in Otology (diseases of the Ear) and Ear Surgery.’

Michael Wareing worked at Guy’s and Tommy’s with Ed Miliband’s Uncle Harry then! And of course with Dafydd’s friend and umbrella Professor Jim Watson the sex therapist (see post ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’).

‘In 1997 the King’s Fund awarded him a prestigious TWJ Travelling Fellowship to enable him to spend seven months in the Laboratory of Molecular Otology at the University of California at San Francisco. There he studied inner ear gene therapy and performed new and exciting research on the roles of liposomes and viruses in introducing genetic material to the cochlea.

In 1999 he was awarded the Skull Base Fellowship at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, where he was able to refine his interest in Ear, Acoustic Neuroma and Skull Base Surgery.

In 2000, Mr Wareing returned to St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Hospitals as a Consultant ENT Surgeon. This was a high profile position which incorporated the dual role of maintaining a general ENT practice of adult and paediatric patients from the City of London, Islington and East End of London, whilst also being the Lead Clinician in Otology, Ear Surgery, Acoustic Neuroma and Skull Base Surgery. He ran a specialist Voice Clinic, and a Paediatric Ear Disease Clinic.

From 2003-9 Mr Wareing took over the additional role of Lead Clinician for the department of Otorhinolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery at St Bartholomews and The Royal London Hospitals. This position allowed him to further develop the ENT services offered in both the City of London and the East End of London. He relinquished the role, only to be reappointed as the Lead Clinician in 2012. He enjoys working closely with many allied Health Professionals, where he is known as a helpful, reliable and considerate expert. He is in charge of the appointment and appraisal of ENT Colleagues, both Consultants and Junior Staff alike. He also has wide ranging responsibilities for the education of Medical Students within their ENT attachment, and also for GP Postgraduate ENT Education.

Mr Wareing’s Private ENT work started in 2000 when John Booth, his predecessor at Barts, saw an opportunity to retire by asking him to take over the care of his established Upper Wimpole Street Practice. In 2005 Mr Wareing chose to move his growing practice to the special setting of The London Clinic, Harley Street, where he and his colleague Mr Jonathan Harcourt are the only two ENT Surgeons to hold permanent rooms within the Clinic. Since that time he has equipped his Consulting Room with the very best equipment available for modern office based ENT practice.
Mr Wareing is also pleased to work as an Honorary Consultant for St Luke’s Hospital for the Clergy, Fitzroy Square.Mr Wareing is a well respected colleague, seeing patients from around the South East of England and overseas. He has featured in articles in the Daily Mail and the Observer, in radio shows and has written book chapters on a number of topics including the development of the ear and on voice problems. He has published over 40 peer reviewed articles and is invited to lecture within the UK and abroad.
Tatler Doctors Guide 2013
In 2007 he was one of only a handful of ENT Surgeons to appear in the ‘Tatler’ Guide to the top 250 Private Health Professionals in the UK. He also appears in the updated 2013 version of this guide.Mr Wareing lives in North West London. He is married to a doctor and they have 4 children. He is a keen (ex single figure handicap) golfer and has been pleased to win several medical golfing society trophies. He is also a keen cyclist, and cycled with a friend from Lands End to John O Groats in 2012, raising £25000 for Deafness Research UK and Help for Heroes.’

Private patients requiring both ENT and Neurosurgical expertise are seen individually by both Mr Wareing and Mr Sabin and are then discussed jointly by the Consultant to ensure optimisation of management, in conjunction with patient desires.’

Mr Sabin is available for those patients whom the Walton Centre have left to die because of their association with those who have challenged the paedophiles’ friends in north Wales (see post ‘A Vampire at Glyndwr University!’). Or probably not, if a distress flare has been sent up by Dafydd.

Mr Wareing of Very Expensive Private Practice has featured in the media, including in that organ dedicated to the NHS ‘The Guardian’, as well as the Mirror and the BBC. Not that Mr Wareing bothers to supply a photo of these publications, he prioritised ‘Tatler’ in that regard.

Mr Wareing works at The London Clinic, a private clinic which sprawls over much of the Harley Street disctrict of London.

John Biffen, the Thatcherite Tory MP who went to school with my father and who knew about the Westminster Paedophile Ring and the lengths to which a great many people were going to conceal it (see post ‘A Local Boy Made Good’), was a Trustee of The London Clinic, 1994-2002, which spans the whole period of the Waterhouse Inquiry and the publication of the Waterhouse Report.

In Ian MacGregor’s book ‘The Story Of The Miners’ Strike 1984-5′, MacGregor mentions that when he read that John Paul Getty II had given £100k to the striking miners’ Christmas appeal in 1984 which had been launched by Anne Scargill, Arthur Scargill’s wife, MacGregor called upon David Hart – the shady right wing figure who was behind many dark matters during Thatcher’s years in office – to arrange a meeting between MacGregor and Getty at ‘The London Clinic’ ‘where he was more or less permanently in residence’. At the meeting, Getty gave Hart a cheque for £100k to the National Working Miners.

Scargill’s daughter is a Top Doctor. Scargill’s friend Michael Mansfield QC who founded the Socialist Labour Party with Scargill knew what was happening to me in north Wales in 1993 because I wrote and told him about it. I wrote to Mansfield and explained that I had been prosecuted under the legislation introduced by Thatcher’s Gov’t to criminalise picketing miners after I attempted to get answers from the north Wales mental health services when Top Docs and Gwynedd Social Services social workers had broken the law. The much publicised police investigation into a possible paedophile ring in north Wales/Cheshire was underway when I was prosecuted and when I wrote to Mansfield. He wrote me a one line reply thanking me for my letter.

The website of The London Clinic is a source of high quality entertainment. We are told that ‘The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest private hospitals, dedicated to providing the best, personalised healthcare with a breadth of surgical and medical expertise. The London Clinic has a number of premises across Harley Street and Devonshire Place…’

The London Clinic may be one of the UK’s largest private hospitals, but they’re all heart down at The London Clinic: ‘The charitable status of The London Clinic means that our surpluses are reinvested back into the hospital and our journey since 1932 has seen significant expansion and development’.

This charidee has been so successful at raising dosh to reinvest back into itself that The London Hospital’s Duchess of Devonshire Wing cost ninety million quid and that was a few years ago.

Highlights in the evolution of The London Hospital include:

In 1932, The opening of The London Clinic, which was performed by the Duchess of York, accompanied by the Duke of York (later King George VI) on 18th February 1932.

On 10 May 1949, a visit by Winston Churchill to Anthony Eden (later Lord Avon), presumably when Eden was laid up in The London Clinic.

In 1963 Elizabeth Taylor was spotted leaving The London Clinic with her knee in a splint after falling on a film set.

In 1989 HRH Prince Carlo opened the physiotherapy department at The London Clinic.

In 1991 HRH Princess Margaret, aka Ma’am Darling, who availed herself of the services of a few private Top Docs herself in her quest for chemical recreation (see post ‘Little Things Hitting Each Other’) opened the MRI unit in the radiology department. Ma’am Darling’s husband Lord Snowdon was the bisexual son of a Welsh Top Doc; Lord Snowdon was reputed to have used the services of rent boys and used to visit north Wales. As an elderly man, Lord Snowdon had a relationship with Marjorie Wallace, who’s selfless service to Top Docs who were involved with serious organised crime was pretty much unsurpassed (see post ‘One Dangerous Fucker’).

In 2002, TV star Martine McCutcheon opened the latest development of The London Clinic at 119 Harley Street. Martine was an actress in East Enders. As was Barbara Windsor, who probably would have been a more suitable celeb to have opened a new bit of The London Clinic.

In 2005, Nigel Havers opened the new consulting room suites at 145 Harley Street. Nigel is the son of Sir – later Lord – Michael Havers, the Tory MP for Wimbledon, 1970-87, who had many constituents who doubled up as Top Docs at St George’s. Havers was the corrupt Attorney General for England and Wales as well as for N Ireland, 1979-87, who consistently blocked the prosecution of ‘VIP paedophiles’, as well as the prosecution of nearly all not such VIP paedophiles in north Wales/Cheshire. His sister Lord Elizabeth Butler-Sloss concealed the extent of the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal (see post ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas And The Culprits Were Named’) and during the brief few minutes for which she Chaired the IICSA, Butler-Sloss tried to prevent any investigations into the Anglican Church. Butler-Sloss is a high profile Anglican.

In 2007 the Duchess of Devonshire attended the official opening of the new consulting room building at 5 Devonshire Place. The Duchess of Devonshire, who was born Deborah Freeman-Mitford, one of the famous fascist family.

Debo’s daughter Emma married Tobias Tennant, son of the 2nd Lord Glenconner. Charlie Tennant, the eldest son of the 3rd Lord Glenconner, was the heroin addict who flogged photos of Princess Margaret in fancy dress at a knees-up to raise money for drugs. Charlie’s dad the 3rd Lord Glenconner  owned Mustique, the island that Ma’am Darling used to visit to let her hair down with her toyboy Roddy Llewellyn, where she wandered around in a kaftan like a Royal Elizabeth Taylor. Charlie Tennant died in 1996, of either Hep B or HIV, I’ve forgotten which. Debo’s daughter Sophia’s second husband was Alastair Morrison, Sir Peter Morrison’s nephew.

After David Cameron became PM, Debo gave media interviews stating that Cameron and his drip of a wife ‘were rather good for the country’. Debo was mates with Sam the Drip’s father, Sir Reginald Sheffield. Sam’s mum Annabel later divorced old Reggie and remarried William Waldorf Astor III – the son of Bill Astor who starred in the Profumo Affair – who was the nephew of her own stepfather, Michael Langhorne Astor.I cannot help thinking that if these domestic arrangements were occurring on a council estate in Merthyr Tydfil, they would be the cause of much pompousing and huffing and puffing from Call Me Dave.

2007 was a good year for The London Clinic. As well as Debo opening their new block, members of staff at The London Clinic joined the Xtreme Everest expedition. Lest anyone believes that the staff of The London Clinic just went up Everest to enjoy themselves, the website of The London Clinic reminds us that the Everest expedition was about Research and Helping People. The London Clinic is pursuing ‘research’ up Everest which will benefit hundreds of thousands of people no less.

In 2010, Joanna Lumley opened the consulting rooms and pathology laboratory at 116 and 120 Harley Street.

In 2010 The London Clinic received another visitor almost as glam as Joanna Lumley. HM the Queen Lilibet opened the new, purpose built, state-of-art cancer facility at 22 Devonshire Place. Debo didn’t peg out until 2014, so perhaps she was too busy admiring Cameron and the notepaper which his wife designed for a living to make it to the opening, so Lilibet substituted.

In 2011, HRH Princess Alexandra opened the new Eye Centre at 119 Harley Street and was greeted by Professor Robin Williamson.

In 2011, The London Clinic received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. International Trade in what is not made clear.

In 2013, members of staff at The London Clinic were off up Everest again, continuing their investigations of human adaption to hypoxia at high altitude. Definitely not on a jolly.

In 2017 Camilla opened the new state-of-the-art 13 bed ICU at 20 Devonshire Place.

As all good charidees do, The London Clinic has a Patron, a Life President and a Board of Trustees.

The Patron is Camilla:

The Life President is The Duchess of Devonshire. Or was, until she turned her toes up.

The Board of Trustees of The London Clinic acts as its Board of Directors, overseeing and directing the activities of the charidee.

The Trustees are:

  • Mr Hamish Leslie Melville – Chairman
  • Lady Otton
  • Mr Manish Chande
  • Professor John Gribben
  • Mr Nicholas Melhuish

Hamish Leslie Melville, the Chairman of this medical charidee, is a banker. Melville is: Chairman, Investment Banking Committee of Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc; Chairman of Mercantile Investment Trust plc (formerly J.P. Morgan Fleming Mercantile Investment Trust plc; was MD of Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Ltd, 2005-08; Chairman of Mithras Investment plc, 1994-08; Chairman of Old Mutual South Africa Trust plc; Director of Scottish Investment Trust plc, 1996-07; of Northern Recruitment Group, 1997-04; of Persimmon plc, 1995-10; of Jamestown Investments Ltd, 1992-94; Eclipse Film Partners No 1 LLP, 2006-14; 73 Cadogan Square Freehold Ltd, 2007-08; Erlangers Ltd, 2000-06; Scottish Woodlands Ltd, 1992-05; Brechin Castle Centre Ltd, 1996-02; Dunedin Capital Partners Ltd, 1992-95; West Highland Woodlands, April 1992-June 1992; Batsford Estates (1983) Co Ltd, 1991-92.

Melville is also the former Chairman of the National Trust, Scotland.

In Jan 2006, the business diary from The Torygraph reported that ‘Credit Suisse First Boston managing director Hamish Leslie Melville has upset his neighbours with plans to build a 43-turbine wind farm on his Lochluichart estate in the Scottish Highlands. Leslie Melville, along with a company formed by Savills and a Dutch wind farm developer, has applied for planning permission to erect the windmills on land the developers describe as “degraded habitat”. Local residents disagree. They’ve set up a protest group called A Wind Farm Too Far, arguing there’s plenty of wildlife and that the steel giants would wreck the view and threaten tourism. Apparently, rather than take an annual rent, the estate has opted for a stake in the venture. My Scottish mole estimates that if all goes according to plan, the project could rake in £625 m over the wind farm’s 25-year lifetime. Not a bad return for Leslie Melville – a former Chairman of the National Trust for Scotland – who was unavailable for comment.’

Lady Helen Otton is a Lady as a result of being married to a Sir, namely Sir Philip Otton, a former Lord Justice of Appeal, 1995-01. Lady Helen describes herself as a ‘conference organiser’. She was a Director of: Everyman Action Against Male Cancer, 2010-13; ICR Enterprises Ltd, 2010-13; The Maytree Respite Centre, 2005-10; Classical Opera, 2002-06; Nottingham Law School Ltd, 199394.

Some years ago Lady Helen Otton’s name appeared in a ‘Daily Mail’ article which named and shamed ‘acolytes’ who had ‘dined at tax-payers expense’ with Tony and Cherie Blair.

Manish Chande describes himself thus: ‘Manish is a senior partner of Clearbell Capital LLP and has over 30 years of real estate experience and is involved in all aspects of the business. Manish is Chairman of the Investment Committee. Manish co-founded Mountgrange Investment Management in 2007 and was the CEO of Mountgrange Capital, a private property investment and development group from 2002. He was previously a board director at Land Securities plc, CEO of Trillium, a pioneering sale and lease-back property business; and CEO of Imry, a publicly-quoted property investment and development company. Manish originally trained as a chartered accountant at Midgley Snelling & Co. between 1975 and 1980 and worked at Deloitte, Haskins & Sells in London from 1980 to 1985. Manish has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales since 1980. In 2008 he was elected a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He was a Commissioner of English Heritage between 2003 and 2011. In 2007, Manish was appointed a Trustee of The London Clinic and in 2012 he was appointed a Trustee of the Canal and River Trust.’

The London Clinic’s website says of Professor John Gribben: ‘Professor John Gribben graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1980. He subsequently trained in Haematology at University College London and in Medical Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, where he remained on the faculty for 17 years before returning to the UK. He specialises in haematological cancers including lymphomas, leukaemias and bone marrow transplantation. His NHS post is as Consultant Haematologist and Medical Oncologist Barts and The London NHS Trust.’

He is the author of more than 300 articles and chapters in peer-reviewed publications and has a global reputation for his work in researching new drugs and forms of cancer treatment. He has grant funding from The National Cancer Institute and Cancer Research UK for pioneering studies in leukaemia and lymphoma. He has sat on and chaired numerous international executive committees dedicated to investigating new approaches to cancer care, and several of the editorial boards for professional publications which are focused on cancer. He has lectured across the world on new therapies for cancer treatment.’

John Gribben features on the website of Barts Cancer Institute, which mentions that he was a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Fellow 1987-89, at UCL and a Fogarty International Fellowship, 1989-1991, at Harvard.

Nicholas Melhuish is a ‘fund manager’: ‘Nicholas Melhuish joined Amundi in 2013 as head of global equities. He was previously head of global equities at UBS Asset Management (2007-2012), lead portfolio manger for global equity strategies at Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management (2003-2007) at San Diego, California and in London and senior portfolio manager, international core equity, at Putnam Investments, London (1999-2003). Nicholas started his career as an analyst and small cap portfolio manager at Schroder Investment Management (1991-1999). He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Modern History from New College, Oxford and is also a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of the UK.’

.

Take note: the Top Docs of The London Clinic trained in the NHS and for most of their careers held senior NHS jobs as well as extensive private practices. Now who was looking after their NHS patients when they were busy at that charidee The London Clinic? Just look at how many of those involved in running the charidee are people who work in global capitalism…

Other news:

The Governor of HMP Berwyn, the UK Gov’ts new ‘flagship’ prison – the biggest prison in the UK – which no English authority wanted in its back yard but was welcomed with open arms by the idiots who represent Wales in both the Senedd and Westminster, has been suspended over unspecified ‘allegations’.

Operation Pallial has resulted in another conviction of an elderly sex offender who worked in a children’s home in north Wales. Once more the bravery of the victims has been praised. If only someone had listened to them as well as the screams coming from the numerous other victims 30 years ago. I cannot share the police’s excitement at their inadequate action decades too late. The elderly paedophile who has just been imprisoned was not convicted until he was 79 yrs old because the full might of the British state was deployed to protect him, not the kids whom he assaulted. Many of them will be dead now anyway, kids in care and Empowered Service Users don’t usually make it as far as 79 yrs old.

Dafydd is in his late 80s, as is Lucille.

Sir Norman Bettison, the former senior officer of the South Yorkshire Police, has been told that he will no longer face any charges as a result of the Hillsborough disaster. Bettison had faced four counts of misconduct in a public office. He was accused of telling lies about the ‘culpability of fans’ and his role in the wake of the tragedy, but the CPS has now said that insufficient evidence meant there was no real prospect of securing a conviction. This is because of ‘changes in the evidence of two witnesses’ and the death of a third witness. How very convenient.

Sir Norman was accused of untruthfully describing his role in the South Yorkshire Police response to Hillsborough – where over 90 people died – as ‘peripheral’ in a 1998 comment to then Chief Inspector of Constabulary Sir David O’Dowd, when applying for the job of Chief Constable in Merseyside. He was also accused of lying to Merseyside Police Authority when he said he had never attempted to shift blame for the disaster ‘on to the shoulders of Liverpool supporters’. Bettison was alleged to have lied in a statement issued on 13 September 2012 following the publication of the Hillsborough Independent Panel report, when he said he had never offered any interpretation other than that the behaviour of Liverpool fans did not cause the disaster. He was also accused of misconduct over a statement released the following day in which he said he had never ‘besmirched’ Liverpool fans.

The court heard that the prosecution relied on two witnesses, Mark Ellaby and a woman identified only as Mrs J. It was alleged by Mr Ellaby that, over a pint in a pub while on an MBA course together in 1989, Sir Norman said he had been appointed to a team, the role of which was to blame the fans. Paul Greaney QC, defending Sir Norman, said it took ‘repeated requests’ from the defence for the other students to be traced by the IPCC. When ‘eventually’ they were, fifteen other students and a lecturer were contacted and ‘not a single one’ recalled Sir Norman expressing any ‘inappropriate view’ about Hillsborough.

Those witnesses with the very bad memories were on an MBA course. They will now be running the NHS, the Social Services, the County Councils, teaching in university business schools and of course like Bettison, some may have achieved high rank in the police.

It’s OK Dafydd and Lucille, you have nothing to worry about at all. I’ve got 10,000 documents, dozens of people were found dead, but you are absolutely safe from any risk of prosecution.

My post ‘Additional Security Measures’ details the fabrication of documentation by the Home Office and the order to stress the alleged bad behaviour of the fans rather than the inadequacies of the police that Home Office officials gave before the publication of the Report into Hillsborough by Lord Justice Peter Taylor. The Home Office were ably assisting Dafydd and the gang at the same time.

The police officers who fabricated and altered witness statements in the wake of Hillsborough were from the South Yorkshire force. The South Yorkshire force were involved in the brutality towards striking miners in 1984-85 and in the collusion with the paedophile gang in Yorkshire.

Bettison joined the South Yorkshire Police in 1975. In May 1993 he was appointed Assistant Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police. In 1998 he became Chief Constable of Merseyside Police. Bettison retired from the police in January 2005 to become Chief Executive of Centrex, which provided training and development to police forces in the UK and enforcement agencies throughout the world until it was abolished in March 2007. Bettison rejoined the police service in January 2007 as Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police. He attempted to secure a package to receive both a retirement pension from Merseyside and a salary from the new post; he threatened legal action but the claim was settled out of court.

Jimmy Savile was on excellent terms with the police right across Yorkshire. The Merseyside Police colluded with Dafydd and his gang.

After the Battle of Orgreave was brought to the UK public by the Great British Press, Liz Stables, the Angel at the Student Health Centre at UCNW/Bangor University, told me that ‘those miners should be shot’. Liz was part of the trafficking gang in north Wales. One boy at Bryn Estyn maintained that he’d been sexually assaulted at gunpoint. But then I was followed by a gun wielding policeman before I left Wales, as was someone who made a witness statement about me being threatened by NHS staff and managers from the North West Wales NHS Trust.

After the Court case in which all charges were dropped against Bettison, Bettison talked of the ‘loss of loved ones’, the ‘enduring tragedy’, ‘a devastating loss’, ‘all of our sympathies’ and then reminded everyone that ‘I have been forced to deny, strenuously, that I was guilty of any wrongdoing in the aftermath of the disaster’.

A few weeks after Liz told me that the miners should be shot, she told me that she’d been at an event where dear old Dafydd dropped by in his helicopter and that ‘Dr DA was great’.

Never mind a murdering paedophile gang, the boys in blue got their priorities right:

No One Is Innocent

BBC News Wales, the ‘Daily Post’ and the ‘Western Mail’ have reported that 71 year old Bryan Davies has been found guilty at Mold Crown Court of 29 historical sex offences against boys who lived at the ‘private children’s home’ Ystrad Hall in Llangollen in the late 1970s, where Bryan Davies was Deputy Principal.

Yes, Bryan Davies is one who has been apprehended as a result of Operation Pallial. During the trial three more men came forward to say that they’d been abused by Davies as boys. The Operation Pallial team re-interviewed eight other men who had previously made complaints against Davies.

Davies was initially arrested in Oct 2013 in relation to him contacting three boys over the internet and inciting them to take part in sexual acts. While on bail Davies fled to Malta but was arrested under a European arrest warrant and extradited to the UK. Davies had been living in Sussex.

It was reported that Bryan Davies went on the run during the trial, was found in an hotel in Folkestone, slit his throat and was taken to King’s College Hospital in order to be operated on. I think that is why sentencing has not taken place yet. Davies is due to be sentenced on June 1.

Bryan Davies is one of those who was somehow not apprehended by the 1991-93 North Wales Police investigation into the abuse of children in care and of course the £13 million Waterhouse Inquiry also missed Bryan Davies. From what is being reported, boys complained about Davies assaulting them years ago. So there is now a 71 year old paedophile in King’s College Hospital following a suicide attempt.

I have argued previously on this blog that pursuing the now elderly sex offenders who were afforded complete protection by every part of the British state whilst witnesses and victims were murdered is farcical. However, it seems that Bryan Davies has continued his sex offending into old age, so yes, bringing him to trial can be justified because he was still active.

Sadly many of the people who knew about Bryan Davies’s offences years ago and protected him will never stand trial because they were all guaranteed legal indemnity if they agreed to give evidence at the Waterhouse Inquiry, even if they lied. For example these people:

Dr Dafydd Alun Jones

Cledwyn Williams

Lucille Hughes

Neither will the people who protected the people pictured above ever stand trial.

Such as the man on the left in this photo:

Old Warwickians - 1940s-1960s School House Dinner

Or indeed this man, who spends his days in the Lords:
William Hague Foreign Secretary (2010).jpg

Neither will any of the many people who looked the other way as some of us were screaming as loudly as we could ever stand trial. Such as:

Michael Mansfield QC 04.jpg

Many others who passed by on the other side can be found in the Commons, in the Lords, running the UK’s health and care system or in the Inns of Court. I’m sure that they will be delighted at the conviction of one 71 year old man and use this to reassure us that there is Zero Tolerance re sex offences in our nation.

Another glass of champagne Professor Bluglass?

My post ‘Feet In Chains’ suggested that Dafydd, the paedophiles and their friends should all be detained in one of Dafydd’s own ‘nursing homes’ under the Mental Capacity or Mental Health Act – they would be treated far worse in there than they ever would be in prison. If pigs started flying and Dafydd was ever put on trial and imprisoned, he would be one of those celebrity prisoners who receive special treatment because of their links with organised crime, such as Ronnie Kray did when he was in Broadmoor. When it was revealed that Ronnie Kray was being supplied with luxuries and privileges and that the Angels of Broadmoor deferred to him, a number of politicians appeared in the media fuming.  What did they expect? Jimmy Savile and his mate had been appointed managers – by Thatcher’s Health Minister Trumpers – and two of the civil service mandarins in the Dept of Health at the time were known associates of paedophiles (see posts ‘Socio-Political Context Of The North Wales Mental Health Services In The 1980s’ and ‘The Old Devils’). Furthermore, it was Top Doctors like Dafydd and Bluglass who decided who ended up in Broadmoor and it was their Top Doctor mates at Broadmoor who decided what ‘treatment programmes’ patients were placed on.

Whilst pondering on the Ronnie Kray and Broadmoor business, I remembered another high profile villain of yesteryear who did so well out of the inadequacies of the British criminal justice system that I can only conclude that, like Ronnie Kray – who was mates with various well-connected people such as Lord Bob Boothby, the bisexual swinging Conservative politician who had an affair with Harold Macmillan’s wife Dorothy as well as a great many other people – this man had help from people in high places. I am thinking of Ronnie Biggs.

My post ‘So Who Was Angry About What?’ mentions that in late 1962/early 1963, two west country farmers in financial difficulties received a letter from a London solicitor inviting them to a meeting where they ‘would hear something to their benefit’. The farmers had barely visited London in their lives and had never heard of the solicitor, Theodore Goddard. They were then visited by a rep of Theodore Goddard who offered them cash to the value of their farm but didn’t actually want to buy it off them. Theodore Goddard wanted them to move out of the farm for a few months, allow the clients of Theodore Goddard to ‘use the farm’ and then move back in. The farmers were terrified and presumed that they were dealing with crooks, so refused the generous offer. The farmers subsequently put their farm on the market and as they were shifting all their stuff out, the farmer’s wife told me that Theodore Goddard turned up again with literally cases of used notes, telling them what idiots they were not to do the deal. The Great Train Robbery happened months later and the farmers noticed the similarity of the farm used by Biggs et al to their own. They had no proof that the weird letter and worrying men from Theodore Goddard were connected to Mr Biggs et al but they never stopped wondering. They kept the letter for years which was how they were able to give me details of what was in it.

A further twist was that one reason why the farmers had ended up in such financial difficulty was that they had done business with a company of which Harold Macmillan’s son was a Director and they had been ripped off – along with a lot of other farmers. The company had contracted farmers to breed and raise pigs on their behalf, but no-one was ever paid – I was told that it was quite a well-known scandal at the time and that a lot of people lost a lot of money, after having been duped into doing business with a company starring Maurice Macmillan, because after all he was the PM’s son, so it had to be OK.

I was reminded of all this last summer when I read a biography of Bertrand Russell. Russell used his solicitors to really shaft people, including his own son John, who had mental health problems. Russell’s solicitors were Theodore Goddard. My post ‘So Who Was Angry About What?’ details the trail of havoc and broken lives that Russell left in his wake and his highly sexually exploitative ways. Members of Russell’s family had a penchant for acquiring diagnoses of schizophrenia and Russell was always ready to stress their unacceptable and unfathomable behaviour and what a trial for him it was to have Mental Illness In The Family. People close to Russell’s Mad Relatives told a story of Russell behaving appallingly, of abuse and intimidation and of Top Docs being asked by Russell to bang up those bloody relatives who were making such a nuisance of themselves.

One of Russell’s relatives who had a particularly hard time was his granddaughter Lucy, who set fire to herself and as a result died at the age of 26. Lucy had been virtually brought up by Russell, after he succeeded in having her father deemed as too crackers to have custody of his own daughter. Like her dad, Lucy was told that she had schizophrenia. Before this diagnosis Lucy had told people that she felt very uncomfortable about her grandfather’s behaviour towards her…

Russell spent his later years living at Penrhyndeudraeth in what is now Gwynedd. It was there that Lucy lived with him for extended periods of time. The area in which Russell lived was an interesting one sociologically because of the presence of an Anglo-Welsh aristocrat nearby, Sir Clough Williams-Ellis. Clough owned an estate in Cwm Croesor and let his properties out to his friends – many of whom were well-known bohemians, activists and writers – during the middle years of the 20th century. A great many well-known people passed through Cwm Croesor. The most famous ones were people like Eric Hobsbawm and E.P. Thompson, but a bit of digging throws up a picture of, it seems, nearly every high profile artist/writer/activist crashing out there for at least some time. They were referred to as the Welsh Bloomsbury set.

Some of Clough’s circle were moneyed aristocrats. I recently purchased an extract from Bertrand Russell’s diaries in which he recorded his visits to Clough’s place with his friends and most of those mentioned are landowning gentry from across north Wales, such as Lord and Lady Aberconway. Russell also spent time with Woodrow Wyatt – Wyatt was a man who, although he was a Labour MP, ended up as an adviser to and friend of Margaret Thatcher (An Appalling Vista’).

So Cwm Croesor attracted a curious mix of posh people, bohemians, Communists and peace activists, some of whom wanted to start a revolution. Then there were the local people – Welsh speakers who worked in quarrying or farming. Croesor was probably the first Welsh speaking area in north Wales to experience mass inward migration of English people. I collected data for a community study of Croesor some six years ago and I found that although at one time the local people seemed to live quite harmoniously with the visitors, by the early 1970s relationships had become quite fraught. Various people made various suggests as to why that was, but I don’t want to publish that here.

What is salient regarding this blog is that I discovered that Dafydd et al had impacted on Croesor. Which is hardly surprising – Dafydd and Gwynne the lobotomist impacted everywhere. In 1964 the social anthropologist Isabel Emmett published ‘A North Wales Village: A Social Anthropological Study’, a community study of Llanfrothen, the village just down the road from Croesor. Isabel was a social anthropologist from Manchester University who married a man from Llanfrothen and she knew the community well. Her book caused a degree of aggro because some of the villagers felt that she’d sleighted them. Isabel mentioned for example that there was a high rate of illegitimacy in this Nonconformist Welsh speaking village. One of the villagers made the point to me in defence of his village’s reputation that ‘all those illegitimate children belonged to one mother’.

Another book was written about life in Croesor by Philip O’Connor, ‘Living In Croesor’ and another of the writers who lived there wrote a novel based on people whom he knew in the village.

Material written about Croesor/Llanfrothen often contains the observation that there was a degree of distress and dysfunction on the part of some people in the area. That is of course true of everywhere, but in some of the relationships between people in Croesor/Llanfrothen there were substantial power differentials. Isabel’s book mentions that certain Top Doctors and lawyers in the wider region were in such powerful positions that people really did fear crossing their paths, because ruination would result. When I read that, I immediately wondered ‘Dafydd and Gwynne?’ I now wonder ‘William Mars-Jones?’ as well.

Then I read a terribly sad account of a young woman who had been taken down to Croesor by her new husband in the 1950s/60s, a man much older than her, where they lived in very difficult circumstances. Or at least she did. He buried himself in his poetry and writing, drank very heavily and went out to see his mates. He then left her for another woman. What happened to her? Er – she was declared mad and taken to the North Wales Hospital where she stayed until it closed decades later. Or as we now know, until only parts of the hospital closed. She was finally released in the 1990s, an old lady, who was parked in Betws-y-Coed to live out her days. The precipitating factor that caused this woman’s crisis was, I seem to remember, a pregnancy that her husband wasn’t too happy about…

I know enough about Dafydd and Gwynne to know that influential yet exploitative/abusive people with money who might want to shut someone up would find Dafydd and Gwynne very useful. Bertrand Russell was living at Penrhyndeudraeth when he was informing Theodore Goddard that members of his family were insane and should be locked up in their own interests.

Dafydd! Did you perchance ever have dealings with a Nobel Prize winning polymath peace campaigning friend of Tariq Ali who wasn’t quite what the wider world thought that he was? I think we should be told.

I was told by one of my interviewees that there had been a big problem in the area because until – I think – 1968, there was no Welsh speaking social worker available, so Welsh people were being hauled off to the North Wales Hospital Denbigh on the basis of an interview conducted in a foreign language. An advance had allegedly been made when a Welsh speaking social worker was appointed, from the locality. Of course I think that people should be assessed in a language that they speak – and feel comfortable with – if they are at risk of being hauled off to an asylum. But this is Dafydd and Gwynne we are talking about. They could have offered interviews in English, Welsh and Japanese and decisions would still not have been taken in the best interests of the patient.

Dafydd and Gwynne were running a hell-hole with a dungeon in which they incarcerated the victims of a paedophile gang. The Welsh-speaking social worker would have been working for Dafydd and Gwynne.

I was not given the name of the Welsh speaking social worker who’s presence at Croesor was supposed to constrain the activities of the paedophiles’ friends, but in about 2004 I had an encounter with a Welsh speaking social worker who lived in Croesor.

This was at the height of my battles with the Arfon Community Mental Health Team, after I had narrowly escaped prison following yet another attempt to frame me and after many years of enduring Keith Fearns’s unpleasantness and harassment in the face of Gwynedd Social Services flat refusal to take action against Fearns.

So some thirteen years ago I decided to try and obtain a copy of my records from Gwynedd Social Services. Someone had told me that Fearns et al now had a new manager who was actually trying to address their dreadful conduct. That manager was a man called Merfyn Hughes (full name Thomas Merfyn Hughes). I ended up having a phone conversation with Mr Hughes – it was a fraught conversation because Mr Hughes insisted on referring to me as a ‘service user’. I told him that I wasn’t a ‘service user’, I was a human being and furthermore I had never received a ‘service’ from Fearns and the Arfon Team, only constant aggro. However to be fair to him, Mr Hughes told me that he would request a copy of the records that the Arfon Team had compiled on me (even though I had never been a ‘client’ of theirs). Further telephone calls to Mr Hughes revealed that the Arfon Team were ignoring his requests. So Mr Hughes told me that he would personally visit the Arfon Team’s offices and retrieve the records himself. I understand that he did do this. I did eventually receive a copy of these records, although the harassment from Fearns et al continued. However I was later told that Merfyn Hughes had never managed to get the Arfon Team under control and that he had now retired.

In 2011 I was told that a man who had once been Elfyn Llwyd’s electoral agent (Llwyd is a barrister and the former Plaid MP for Dwyfor Meirionydd) had been found dead in rather strange circumstances. This job description didn’t mean anything to me – but I was then told his name, Merfyn Hughes and that he’d been a social worker with Gwynedd. I realised that this was the man who had braved Fearns and extracted my files in person.

I googled the story and found this newspaper report detailing Mr Hughes’s death http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/local-news/man-died-after-falling-down-1845258

So the inquest at Caernarfon held by the notorious Dewi Pritchard Jones  heard that Merfyn had been drinking in the Bron Danw Arms and that the pub landlord had said that he ‘wasn’t sober’. He left the pub at 2 am to walk home. He never got home – his body was found 36 hours later in the garden of somebody else’s house, behind a greenhouse, at the bottom of an embankment and could not be seen from the road or the house. Detective Inspector Brian Kearney stated that there were marks on the footpath above the embankment consistent with someone having rolled down the embankment and that one of Mr Hughes’s shoelaces was undone. A postmortem showed no signs of a head injury and tests showed little alcohol in his blood at the time of death. Pathologist Mark Lord said that death was due to hypothermia.

Dewi recorded a verdict of accidental death and then reached a quite extraordinary conclusion as to how Mr Hughes’s death occurred, even by Dewi’s standards – ‘he somehow slipped and fell down the embankment but nothing to show he tried to get out. It appears that he fell asleep, the cold took over and he later died’. Now I don’t know about Dewi, but if I fell down an embankment in the early hours of the morning and landed in someone else’s garden, I don’t think that I’d then decide to have a nap on the spot rather than try to get out. And even if I did make such a decision I very much doubt that I’d be able to get such a good night’s sleep that I’d die of hypothermia somewhere along the way. And if the pub landlord had stated that Merfyn ‘wasn’t sober’, why was there ‘little alcohol’ in his blood at the time of death? It’s also fascinating that at some point after falling down the embankment, going to sleep and dying, Mr Hughes managed to conceal his body behind a greenhouse in a spot where it could not be seen from the road or house.

People in Gwynedd have become used to reading Dewi’s bizarre speculations when people with mental health problems have been found dead – but it would seem that people working in the mental health services are also found dead in inexplicable circumstances, only for Dewi Pritchard Jones to conjure up a most unlikely explanation for their death.

Anyone for re-opening an investigation into Merfyn Hughes’s death? Let alone for doing a bit of digging regarding the identity of the tame Top Doctor whom Bertrand Russell had on tap and finding out how many vulnerable people who had been stung by Russell’s mates were hauled off to Denbigh, suffering from the vapours/a wandering womb/spermattorrhea/cottage ignition syndrome/paranoid schizophrenia/manic depressive insanity or other serious conditions that Europe’s leading forensic psychiatrist knows all about?

‘Denbigh is unique’ – Dafydd, circa 1994.

To return to Ronnie Biggs, who may perhaps have known a firm of solicitors called Theodore Goddard.

John Theodore Goddard founded the law firm bearing his name based in London. The firm merged with Addleshaw Booth & Co in May 2003 to become Addleshaw Goddard. Theodore Goddard was the solicitor appointed by Wallis Simpson as an adviser to her during divorce proceedings. When King Edward VIII’s intention to marry Wallis became known, Goddard became closely involved in the abdication negotiations, at the behest of PM Stanley Baldwin. Goddard personally negotiated with Wallis, the King and the PM.

Theodore Goddard’s early reputation enabled him to attract as a valuable client the newly created office of the Public Trustee. It was the Public Trustee who collaborated with Dafydd when he fleeced Mary Wynch decades later.

John Theodore Goddard retired as senior partner in 1950 and died in 1952. The 1950s saw a period of further growth through amalgamation with, in particular, the City firm of Deacons & Pritchard (founded in 1834) and the firm of Rhys Roberts & Co (founded in 1883 by future PM David Lloyd George, a partner of the firm until his Parliamentary duties grew too burdensome).

The firm was again caught up in the Profumo Affair. In 1963, then senior partner Derek Clogg was instructed by Profumo. At the time of the Profumo Affair, Lord Astor was married to his third wife, Bronwen. Bronwen went to school in Dolgellau and was the daughter of a Welsh judge. See post ‘In Memoriam – Bronwen, Lady Astor’ for details of the Profumo Affair, the involvement of Trumpers and others. Theodore Goddard & Co was referred to in Hansard as ‘a solicitor of the highest reputation and widest experience’ who ‘has had great experience in cases dealing with libel, with divorce and all those matters where human frailty and possible lying may come into account’. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Theodore Goddard & Co attracted many company clients and the commercial side of the practice grew rapidly.

More recently Theodore Goddard has retained a strong media and entertainment law practice alongside a private client capability (including private tax work for members of The Rolling Stones and David Bowie). The firm occasionally gave rise to high-profile cases involving celebrities including the firm’s instruction in relation to the ‘Hello!’ magazine dispute over photographs of Catherine Zeta-Jones wedding to and its appointment by Michael Jackson to advise on the ‘Living With Michael’ documentary.

Ronnie Biggs was born in Lambeth and in 1947, at age 18, Biggs enlisted in the RAF. He was dishonourably discharged two years later, after breaking into a local chemist shop. One month after that, he was convicted of stealing a car and sentenced to prison. On his release, he took part in a failed robbery attempt of a bookmaker office in Lambeth. During his incarceration in HMP Wandsworth, he met Bruce Reynolds, The Brains in the Great Train Robbery.

After his third prison sentence, Biggs tried to go straight and trained as a carpenter. In Feb 1960, he married Charmian. Biggs, who needed money to fund a deposit on the purchase of a house for his family, was working on the house of a train driver who was about to retire. The driver’s real name is unknown, since he was never caught. He was the one who introduced Biggs to the train robbery plot.

The gang then stopped the mail train from Glasgow to London in the early hours of 8 Aug 1963. The robbery yielded the participants £2.6 million (equivalent to £49 million in 2017); Biggs’s share was £147,000 (equivalent to £2,824,900 in 2018). Three weeks later, Biggs was arrested in South London, along with 11 other members of the gang. In 1964, nine of the 15-strong gang, including Biggs, were jailed for the crime. Most received sentences of 30 years. Lord Edmund-Davies was the judge who presided over the trial and many thought that the sentences were too severe. Edmund-Davies was one of the paedophiles’ friends of Wales.

Biggs served 15 months before escaping from Wandsworth Prison on 8 July 1965, scaling the wall with a rope ladder and dropping onto a waiting removal van. He fled to Brussels by boat, then sent a note to his wife to join him in Paris where he had acquired new identity papers and was undergoing plastic surgery. During his time in prison, Charmian had started an extramarital relationship and was pregnant by the time of his escape to the Continent. Choosing to support her husband, she had an illegal abortion in London and then travelled with their two sons to Paris to join Biggs.

So thus far, it sounds as though there were some helpful prison officers who didn’t see anything or hear anything and some Top Docs willing to assist without asking questions.

In 1966, Biggs fled to Australia. By that time Biggs and his family had spent all but £7,000 (equivalent to £119,700 in 2018) of his £147,000 share of the train robbery proceeds: £40,000 (equivalent to £683,800 in 2018) on plastic surgery in Paris; £55,000 (equivalent to £940,200 in 2018) paid as a package deal to get him out of the UK to Australia; and the rest on legal fees and expenses.

LEGAL FEES?? He was an escaped robber…Was the bill from Theodore Goddard?

In 1967, Biggs received an anonymous letter from Britain telling him that Interpol suspected that he was in Australia, so he moved from Sydney to Melbourne. Biggs had a number of jobs in Melbourne before undertaking set construction work at the Channel 9 TV studios. In Oct 1969, a newspaper report by a Reuters correspondent revealed that Biggs was living in Melbourne and claimed that police were closing in on him. Biggs fled his home, staying with family friends in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Five months later, he fled on a passenger liner from the Port of Melbourne, using the altered passport of a friend; his wife and sons remained in Australia. Twenty days later, the ship berthed in Panama and within two weeks Biggs had flown to Brazil.

Following disclosure of Biggs’ fathering a child in Brazil, Charmian agreed to a divorce which was completed in 1976. Allowed by authorities to remain in Australia, she sold her story for £40,000 to an Australian media group to enable her to purchase the rented house that the family had lived in at the time of Biggs’s flight to Brazil. Charmian later became an editor, publisher and journalist. Her sons—who later visited Biggs a few times in Brazil— live anonymously. In 2012 Charmian acted as a consultant on the five-part ITV Studios docu-drama Mrs Biggs.

In 1970, when Biggs arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil did not have an extradition treaty with the UK. In 1974, ‘Daily Express’ reporter Colin MacKenzie received information suggesting that Biggs was in Rio de Janeiro. This confirmed and the story broke. Jack Slipper of the Yard arrived soon afterwards, but Biggs could not be extradited because his girlfriend, nightclub dancer Raimunda de Castro, was pregnant. Brazilian law at the time did not allow a parent of a Brazilian child to be extradited.

During 1974, in Rio, Biggs, collaborated others to record Mailbag Blues, a musical narrative of his life that he intended to use as a movie soundtrack. This album was left undiscovered until it was finally released in 2004 by whatmusic.com.

In April 1977 Biggs attended a cocktail party on board a Royal Navy frigate which was in Rio for a courtesy visit, but he was not arrested. Though in Brazil he was safe from extradition, Biggs’s status as a known felon meant he could not work, visit bars or be away from home after 10:00 p.m. To provide an income, Biggs’s family hosted barbecues at his home in Rio, where tourists could meet Biggs and hear him recount his involvement in the robbery. Biggs was even visited by former footballer Stanley Matthews. Around this time, “Ronnie Biggs” mugs, coffee cups and T-shirts also appeared throughout Rio.

Biggs recorded vocals on two songs for ‘The Great Rock and Roll Swindle’, Julien Temple’s film about the Sex Pistols. Not only did Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungeon come to their ends in questionable circumstances, but one who knew them, Adam Ant aka Stuart Goddard, had some very bad experiences with the Top Docs, experiences which Stuart Goddard was prevented from talking about in the media.

In March 1981, Biggs was kidnapped by a gang of British ex-soldiers. The boat they took him aboard suffered mechanical problems off Barbados and the stranded kidnappers and Biggs were rescued by the Barbados coastguard and towed into port. The kidnappers hoped to collect a reward from the British police; however, like Brazil, Barbados was found to have had no valid extradition treaty with the United Kingdom (a fact which chess player David Levy claimed to have paid lawyers to unearth) and Biggs was sent back to Brazil. In Feb 2006, Channel 4 aired a documentary featuring dramatisations of the attempted kidnapping and interviews with the ex-British Army soldier who carried it out. The ITN reporter Desmond Hamill paid to accompany Biggs on the private Learjet returning him to Brazil and secured an exclusive interview.

Biggs’s son by de Castro, Michael Biggs, eventually became a member of a successful children’s programme and music band, bringing a new source of income to his father. In a short time, however, the band faded into obscurity, leaving father and son in financial difficulty again.

In 1991, Biggs sang vocals for a German punk band and in 1993, Biggs sang on three tracks for an album by an Argentinian punk band.

In 1997 the UK and Brazil ratified an extradition treaty. Two months later, the UK Gov’t made a formal request to the Brazilian Gov’t for Biggs’s extradition. Biggs had stated that he would no longer oppose extradition. English lawyer Nigel Sangster QC travelled to Brazil to advise Biggs. The extradition request was rejected by the Brazilian Supreme Court, giving Biggs the right to live in Brazil for the rest of his life.

In 2001 Biggs announced to ‘The Sun’ newspaper that he would be willing to return to the UK. Having 28 years of his sentence left to serve, Biggs was aware that he would be detained upon arrival in Britain. His trip back on a private jet was paid for by ‘The Sun’, which reportedly paid Michael Biggs, Ronnie’s son, £20,000 plus other expenses in return for exclusive rights to the news story. Biggs arrived on 7 May 2001, whereupon he was immediately arrested and re-imprisoned.

Michael said that, contrary to some press reports, Biggs did not return to the UK simply to receive health care. On 14 November 2001, Biggs petitioned Governor Hynd of HMP Belmarsh for early release on compassionate grounds based on his poor health. He had been treated four times at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich in less than six months. His health was deteriorating rapidly and he asked to be released into the care of his son for his remaining days. The application was denied. On 10 Aug 2005, it was reported that Biggs had contracted MRSA. His representatives, seeking for his release on grounds of compassion, said that their client’s death was likely to be imminent. On 26 Oct 2005, the Home Secretary Charles Clarke declined his appeal stating that his illness was not terminal. Home Office compassion policy is to release prisoners with three months left to live. Biggs was claimed by Michael to need a tube for feeding and to have ‘difficulty’ speaking.

On 4 July 2007, Biggs was moved from Belmarsh Prison to Norwich Prison on compassionate grounds. In Dec 2007, Biggs issued a further appeal, from Norwich Prison, asking to be released from jail to die with his family: ‘I am an old man and often wonder if I truly deserve the extent of my punishment. I have accepted it and only want freedom to die with my family and not in jail. I hope Mr. Straw decides to allow me to do that. I have been in jail for a long time and I want to die a free man. I am sorry for what happened. It has not been an easy ride over the years. Even in Brazil I was a prisoner of my own making. There is no honour to being known as a Great Train Robber. My life has been wasted.’

In Jan 2009, after a series of strokes that were said to have rendered him unable to speak or walk, it was claimed in the press that Biggs was to be released in Aug 2009 and would die a ‘free man’. Michael had also claimed that the Parole Board might bring the release date forward to July 2009. On 13 Feb 2009, it was reported that Biggs had been taken to hospital from his cell at Norwich Prison, suffering from pneumonia. This was confirmed the following day by Michael, who said Biggs had serious pneumonia but was stable. News of his condition prompted fresh calls from Michael Biggs for his release on compassionate grounds.

On 23 April the Parole Board recommended that Biggs be released on 4 July, having served a third of his 30-year sentence. However, on 1 July Jack Straw did not accept the Parole Board’s recommendation and refused parole, stating that Biggs was ‘wholly unrepentant’. On 28 July 2009, Biggs was readmitted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with pneumonia. He had been admitted to the same hospital a month earlier with a chest infection and a fractured hip but returned to prison on 17 July 2009. His son said: ‘It’s the worst he’s ever been. The doctors have just told me to rush there.’

On 30 July 2009, it was claimed by representatives of Biggs that he had been given ‘permission’ to challenge the decision to refuse him parole. However, the Home Office stated only that an application for the early release on compassionate grounds of a prisoner at HMP Norwich had been received by the public protection casework section in the National Offender Management Service. Biggs was released from custody on 6 August, two days before his 80th birthday, on ‘compassionate grounds’.

Following his release from prison, Biggs’s health improved, leading to suggestions that he might soon be moved from hospital to a nursing home. In response to claims that Biggs’s state of health had been faked, his lawyer stated, ‘This man is going to die, there is going to be no Lazarus coming back from the dead, he is ill, he is seriously ill.’ Biggs himself stated, ‘I’ve got a bit of living to do yet. I might even surprise them all by lasting until Christmas, that would be fantastic.’

On 29 May 2010, Biggs was again admitted to hospital in London after complaining of chest pain. He underwent tests at Barnet General Hospital. Michael stated that ‘he’s conscious but he’s in a lot of pain’. In Aug 2010, it was claimed by the ‘Sunday Mirror’ that Biggs would be attending a gala dinner where he would be collecting a lifetime achievement award for his services to crime.

On 10 Feb 2011, Biggs was admitted to Barnet General Hospital with another suspected stroke. Michael said he was conscious and preparing to have a CT scan and a series of other tests to determine what had happened. On 17 November 2011, Biggs launched his new and updated autobiography, ‘Ronnie Biggs: Odd Man Out – The Last Straw’, at Shoreditch House, London. He was unable to speak and used a Word board to communicate with the press.

On 12 Jan 2012, ITV Studios announced it had commissioned the drama ‘Mrs Biggs’.  Charmian Biggs acted as a consultant on the series and travelled to Britain from Australia to visit Biggs in Feb 2012, just before the filming.

In March 2013, Biggs attended the funeral of fellow train robber, Bruce Reynolds. In July 2013, ‘The Great Train Robbery 50th Anniversary:1963–2013′ was published, with input from Biggs and Reynolds.

On 18 Dec 2013, aged 84, Biggs died at the Carlton Court Care Home in Barnet. The Rev Dave Tomlinson officiated at Biggs’ funeral, for which he drew public criticism; Tomlinson responded to critics by reminding everyone ‘Judge not, that ye be not judged’.

Ronnie Biggs got a rather better deal out of the British criminal justice system and certainly from the NHS than any victim of Dafydd and the paedophiles ever did. Somehow they never managed to escape from prison, although a lot of them were found dead on the ‘medical wing’ in Risley Remand Centre. They didn’t continue to live for years after Top Docs stated that they should be released on compassionate grounds because the end was imminent, indeed a lot of them told Top Docs of serious health problems only to be told in response that there was nothing wrong with them. Neither were they feted by the media. They were denounced as nutters and addicts who had been ‘feral children’ or ‘out of control’ when they were young. If they ever demonstrated that they had been fitted up for crimes, they would be reminded that they were ‘no angel’ and ‘had got away with lots of other things’. But then they didn’t have access to the services of people like Theodore Goddard.

There were people who did object very strongly to the making of a folk hero out of Ronnie Biggs, but in his defence Biggs and co reminded everyone that he was an honest thief, he never killed nobody. The son of the train driver who was coshed on the head during the robbery pointed out that his dad never recovered from his injury. Biggs’ supporters retorted that the train driver died years later of an unrelated condition. Not only do head injuries have long term devastating consequences, but the Top Docs seemed to be keen to help Biggs et al and could well have decided not to flag up the degree of damage done to the train driver.

Even if Biggs et al had not injured anyone, the thing that worries me is the number of crooked professional people who were prepared to help Biggs and his mates. At least some of them will have been among those who helped Dafydd and the paedophiles. That is why, 50 yrs after John Allen opened the Bryn Alyn Community and after two police investigations, one ‘independent’ investigation and a £13 million Judicial Inquiry into the abuse of children in care in north Wales since 1974, a 71 year old paedophile is currently in King’s College Hospital after escaping during his trial, when he was finally charged with numerous offences that he committed 40 yrs ago. And still we are told that there was no cover-up in north Wales.

Career criminals like Brains Bruce Reynolds make contacts with corrupt professional people via many routes. However I note that before he embarked on his life of crime, Reynolds worked in the Middlesex Hospital. Which was where Gwynne the lobotomist trained and which supplied an alumni network that protected him until the day that he died. In old age, of cancer. Not by hanging in Risley Remand Centre when he was 19 after he complained of being repeatedly sexually assaulted.

Other news from north Wales is that a carer at the Heddfan Unit has been jailed for more than five years after appearing in Caernarfon Crown Court for having sex with a patient ‘young enough to be his daughter’. Not just once, but on a number of occasions. Neither did this sound like a Mills and Boon hospital romance – the carer was involved in a relationship with his ex-wife as well as another woman. The patient has stated that she now realises that she was exploited. Presumably Dr Peter Higson, the Chair of the Betsi Board, is now investigating complaints of staff sexually exploiting patients. That’s a new direction – Higson ignored complaints about Dafydd doing this for years when Higson was the manager of the North Wales Hospital Denbigh. The carer concerned had worked at the Heddfan Unit since 2001.

In 2006 the Heddfan carer was convicted for ‘outraging public decency’ in a ‘flashing incident’, but the Health Board didn’t know and his employment continued. Can someone explain how his employers didn’t know about that? In 2006 the Betsi Board had not been created – the Heddfan Unit was still managed by the Welsh Gov’t, but by a previous NHS Trust. In 2006 Gangster Gibbons was Health Minister – Gangster Gibbons wrote to me at that time telling me that ‘this correspondence is closed’ when I told him that I had documentary evidence of serious criminal activity in the mental health services in north Wales. Gangster Gibbons knew as well as the rest of us that staff should have been regularly CRB checked to guard against this sort of event. So why didn’t that happen then Gibbons? Furthermore, I know that Martin Jones at the NW Wales NHS Trust wasn’t carrying out CRB checks on his staff either, two different moles told me. Until very recently Martin Jones was Director of the Workforce at the Betsi. Martin Jones’s wrongdoing was one matter about which Gangster Gibbons closed down correspondence with me. For more details on Gangster Gibbons and his deep and meaningful relationship with another fraudster of south Wales, Julian Tudor Hart, see post ‘The Human Stain’.

The sex fiend of the Heddfan Unit was not the only carer in north Wales in trouble. An ‘incompetent care worker’, Lee Woods, employed by Wrexham County Borough Council, has been struck off by a Social Care Wales fitness to practice committee, who concluded that he posed a risk to young people and could not be relied upon the deliver a service ‘to individuals’. The concerns were that Woods failed to carry out his boss’s instructions, which included failing to complete housing and welfare rights applications for clients and submitting inaccurate expense claims. Once more, I can only suppose that standards are improving. For years social workers – including senior social workers such as ‘team leader’ Keith Fearns – employed by Gwynedd Social Services flatly refused to give scores of people any ‘service’ at all. Those people did not know about the benefits to which they were entitled so they lived at sub-benefit level and had no chance of gaining accommodation unless they rented or purchased privately because to gain social housing, mental health patients in Gwynedd needed their application endorsed by the Arfon CMHT. The reason for their refusal to assist certain clients was always the same – that they had ‘upset people’. Translated that meant that they’d complained about Dafydd and the paedophiles.

I don’t know if the Arfon Team submitted fraudulent expense claims, but I’d imagine that they’d find that particular temptation hard to resist. They did used to sit in Bangor Morrison’s cafe every morning from 9-30 until 11-30 enjoying a cooked breakfast when they were supposed to be on duty down the road in their office. But then the team alcohol counsellor Tom Harney was an alcoholic who ran a pub on the north Wales coast. When the then CEO of the Betsi Mary Burrows kicked Harney out of his job for seriously neglecting his patients, Harney got a job with Dafydd’s charity CAIS. As an alcohol counsellor of course.

Members of the Arfon Team faced no action even as a result of their threats and harassment of patients until Mary Burrows launched an investigation into them some six years ago and they were subsequently all sacked for seriously neglecting clients. None of them were struck off. Keith Fearns, Julie Evans and Maggie Fookes simply set themselves up as therapists. They are still working.

The Social Care Council has only been in existence since 2016. Lee Woods had worked for WCBC since 2005. Until 2016, the body responsible for regulating Lee’s standards at work was the Care Council for Wales. There is no mention in the reports re Lee that his standards had slipped – according to WCBC he had always been hopeless, lied when he was caught out, refused to undertake training and could not be improved. The Care Council for Wales missed all that then. Who was the CEO of the Care Council for Wales throughout its entire existence? Step forward Rhian Huws Williams.

Rhian has been a paedophiles’ friend for 35 years now, as a result of her long career in social work in Wales, which began at UCNW back in the 1970s. Rhian spent some years as a training officer for mental health social work in Wales. Rhian has lived through it all – the deaths of witnesses, the police investigations, the Jillings Investigation and the Waterhouse Inquiry. She knew nuzzing. Just as she didn’t know about Lee Woods. Rhian was made a member of the Gorsedd of the Bards in 2014. She doesn’t write Cynghanedd or anything like that, so I presume that Rhian has got in there by being a mate of Dafydd’s or Robyn Lewis’s.

Teachers who are members of the NASUWT at Connah’s Quay High School have gone on strike on the grounds that they are ‘fearful’ of senior management. My post ‘I Warn You…’  describes the dreadful senior management of Holyhead School some 16 years ago – although the regime was in place for a few more years after that – by the Head Margaret Chantrell and her total fuckwit of a Deputy, Gerald Hewitson. The whole of north Wales knew how serious the problems were and the classroom teachers were being scapegoated. Most of the teachers at Holyhead were actually very good but they were constantly undermined by Chantrell and Hewitson. Chantrell and Hewitson did have one accomplice on the staff however – the vile Gill Dennis. Dennis volunteered to be a mentor for student teachers on placement from Bangor University and systematically tried to blow them all out of the water. According to Dennis, in the year in which I did teacher training (2000-01), none of the student teachers but one were sufficiently competent enough to qualify. Dennis came gunning for me as well, but I didn’t link her activities with Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends because before she even met me she tried to completely ruin the career of one student teacher who had been on placement at Holyhead School the term before me. Bangor University had to step in and protect all the student teachers whom Dennis tried to fail or force to withdraw from the course. I mentioned that there was one student whom Dennis did find acceptable – Dennis had such a high opinion of her that she told her to apply for a vacancy as a science teacher that was coming up and also told her that she would almost certainly be offered the job, so impressive was she. On the big day, this candidate was not offered the job. She never understood why. Gill Dennis later commented that she didn’t get the job because she wore a jumper for the interview rather than a blouse. (It wasn’t a Gyles Brandreth jumper – it was an upmarket lightweight jumper made of fine wool, which she wore with an equally upmarket suit.)

The irony was that Gill Dennis was very obviously rather unkempt and neglected herself. Her standard wear was nylon trousers with a plastic jacket, she was usually pretty grubby and unusually for someone in a professional job she had very bad teeth – they were well on the way to being blackened stumps. I’m not making these observations simply to kick Dennis in the chops – although she richly deserves it – but because I and another person noticed that those choppers of hers did resemble the sort of decaying teeth that long term amphetamine users often end up with…

On the day before I finished my placement at Holyhead, Gill Dennis told me that she’d had a bellyful of Holyhead School, she hated us, she didn’t care about us or the school and the only reason why she volunteered to be a mentor to the student teachers was to get a good reference from Gerald Hewitson in order to secure another job near Merseyside. Dennis didn’t even live in north Wales, she lived on the Wirral and drove to Holyhead every day.

Because Gill Dennis couldn’t actually point to anything that the trainee teachers had done wrong, she maintained that none of us should be allowed to qualify because we ‘lacked professionalism’.

Gerald Hewitson sexually harassed one of the trainee teachers whilst she was on placement at Holyhead School.

As Holyhead School finally imploded, Margaret Chantrell whined about the people of Holyhead in a media interview and complained that they were such a load of gits that they wouldn’t even support their ‘community school’. The school to which one of Chantrell’s prized members of staff commuted from her home in another country and couldn’t wait to escape.

If anyone knows the reason for Gill Dennis’s desire to destroy the careers of student teachers or whether her teeth had suffered because of amphetamine use, please let me know.

The ‘Daily Post’ has reported that raids conducted by the Merseyside Police across Merseyside, the Wirral and in Wrexham have resulted in the seizure of drugs and guns, including a machine gun.

Chris Lloyd of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue team was interviewed by the media after the team were called out to rescue walkers who were not only alleged to be very ill-equipped but were also suspected of not being in need of rescuing but just fancied a lift back down the mountain. I know that such things do occasionally happen and when they do, Mr Lloyd and his colleagues get seriously pissed off. What was of interest was the identity of two local rent-a-gobs who also commented, neither of the rent-a-gobs being members of the Mountain Rescue team themselves.

The rent-a-gobs in question were the leader of Conwy County Council, Gareth Jones OBE and the Tory MP for Aberconwy, Guto Bebb. Bebb stated that people rescued by the Mountain Rescue team should have to fund their own rescue and Gareth Jones said that he shared Bebb’s sentiment, that no-one likes to see public money wasted, but that enforcing payment would be difficult.

Gareth Jones OBE has featured on this blog previously. He is the former Headmaster of Ysgol John Bright and in 1991 was a member of the Cartrefle Panel of Inquiry, which investigated the serious sexual assaults perpetrated on children in Cartrefle, a Clwyd children’s home. Every member of the Panel was someone who had previously concealed child abuse and one member was H.H. Ellis, the crooked County Secretary of Gwynedd County Council who had tried to frame and imprison me (see post ‘It’s A Piece Of Cake…’).

Not that Gareth Jones needed to have sat on that panel to know what was happening to kids in care in north Wales. Gareth was born in 1939 in Blaenau Ffestiniog, went to Swansea University and then became a teacher and returned to north Wales. He couldn’t have missed that paedophile gang.

Gareth was the Plaid AM for Conway, 1999-03 and for Aberconwy, 2007-11. So Gareth sat in Cardiff Bay when the Waterhouse Report was published and said not a word. £13 million quid that Report cost Gareth – that will be rather more than was spent rescuing the dipsticks from the hills the other day. If you and your associates hadn’t have concealed the criminality of Dafydd et al, that £13 million could have been put to better use.

Gareth lives in Craig-y-Don, Llandudno. Dafydd holds clinics there and has a ‘nursing home’ there as well.

Before Gareth was elected for Aberconwy in 2007, he was Cabinet member of Conwy County Council for finance and resources, as well as leader of the Plaid Group. So Gareth was on that Council whilst Conwy County Council passed homes owned by Prestwood People Trafficking Ltd as being suitable, whilst clients were assaulted, injured and groomed for sex work (see post ‘A Convenient Arrangement With The Private Sector’).

In the 2007 Assembly election, Gareth campaigned on a Save Llandudno Hospital ticket, although the Labour Party denied that downgrading was planned for Llandudno Hospital. I know people who were treated at Llandudno Hospital and they spoke very highly of the care that they received. One is a good friend of mine and I have no reason to disbelieve her. However I also know that Prestwood clients were being taken to Llandudno Hospital with injuries and after suicide attempts and no questions were asked. They were only ever allowed to go for medical care in the company of Prestwood staff and then they were patched up and returned to Prestwood.

Gareth Jones was a member of the Llandudno Hospital Action Group and is a Trustee of St David’s Hospice. St David’s Hospice is run entirely by paedophiles’ friends, Alun Davies was the Chief Executive after he ran the Hergest Unit into the ground and now Trystan Pritchard is Chief Exec. Trystan is a former corrupt NHS manager who, along with Martin Jones, refused to investigate complaints of Ysbyty Gwynedd staff abusing patients when Trystan worked for the NW Wales NHS Trust. See post ‘The CEOs Of St David’s Hospice’.

Trystan is a Freemason. As I am fairly sure is Gareth Jones.

Gareth is also a Board member for Aberconwy Women’s Aid and a Patron of Tyddyn Bach, an HIV centre at Penmaenmawr.

Gareth’s political interests are social justice, the Welsh language and education. So that is why he ignored a paedophile ring that spilt over into the schools and who targeted Welsh speaking as well as English speaking kids.

Guto Bebb went really apeshit about those whom he alleges abuse the Mountain Rescue service. Guto stated that they ‘should be made to take responsibility, both moral and financial, for their actions’.

Guto hasn’t yet featured on this blog but he certainly needs to. Guto Bebb has been the Tory MP for Aberconwy since 2010. He’s been involved in a few controversies in recent years. In 2014 Guto became embroiled in a twitter spat with a constituent who has Aspergers and Guto told him that people with mental health problems should not ‘publicly comment’ no less. Then in 2017 Guto told a constituent who challenged his voting record that he was ‘talking out of his arsehole’. There was more trouble in 2017 as well – Guto was the subject of outrage after he hired his wife as a translator and office worker just before Parliament blocked the practice of MPs employing their relatives.

Guto was born in Wrexham in 1968. As Guto was growing up, the kids in the care homes just down the road from his birthplace were being battered and raped into oblivion. Not that many of them should have been allowed to publicly comment, because so many of them had mental illness diagnoses. They’d only have been talking out of their arseholes. Guto will have been delighted that so many of them didn’t ever comment, having been imprisoned or died so young.

Guto went to Ysgol Sir Hugh Owen, along with some of the kids who were being abused. But they were quietly ignored. Far better to involve oneself with the children of Dafydd Wigley who also went there.  Guto then studied history at Aberystwyth University, when it was run by the paedophiles’ friends (see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’).

Guto hasn’t always been a Tory. He used to be a Plaid activist and was Chairman of Caernarfon Plaid. Er – Guto, it was Plaid-dominated Gwynedd County Council with their HQ in Caernarfon who knew that their children’s homes were full of paedophiles but took no action wasn’t it?

One of my friends knew Guto. She went on a business course and Guto was doing some of the teaching. Guto told the class how hopeless the Welsh Assembly are at matters business. They probably are Guto, but nothing rivals the fuckwittery, corruption and nepotism re ‘business development’ that prevails at Gwynedd County Council.

I don’t know Guto but I think that he might know me. I was next to him shopping in Caernarfon Morrison’s once – he was pushing a trolley full of small children – and he was very icy towards me. I only knew who he was because I recognised his photo. Yes, Guto, that was me, that fucking cow who just would not shut up about Dafydd and the paedophiles and who even wrote books and academic articles about the abuse of mental health patients by mental health staff. I know that I shouldn’t be allowed to publicly comment but I’ve written well over 500 posts on this blog now…

Anyone interested in Welsh political history knows of Guto’s grandfather, Ambrose Bebb. Ambrose was one of the founders of Plaid, along with Saunders Lewis. Dafydd was a mate of Saunders Lewis and I bet that Dafydd was a mate of Ambrose Bebb as well. Ambrose Bebb also knew J.E. Daniel, the father of the corrupt judge Huw Daniel who was looking forward to imprisoning me in 2004 on the basis of the perjury of Angels from the Hergest Unit.

Ambrose went to Aberystwyth Univerrsity when an earlier generation of paedophiles’ friends ran the place and when it produced scores of law graduates who became corrupt lawyers and judges who concealed the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophiles. When Ambrose was a student at Aber he published an article in support of the 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland which was banned by the College authorities. Ambrose spent much of his life teaching at Coleg Normal, the teacher training college which trained scores of paedophiles’ friends.

Ambrose Bebb was one of the early members of Plaid who gave Plaid the tag of being a fascist – even a Nazi-supporting – party. Ambrose Bebb did not support the Nazis, he was one of a number of Plaid leaders who had links with French Catholic nationalist far-right groups.

I don’t agree with everything that your grandfather wrote Guto, but I would never have told him that he didn’t have the right to publicly comment. But then I’m not an offensive hypocrite of a paedophiles’ friend am I.

‘They should be made to take responsibility, both moral and financial, for their actions’. £13 fucking million on a rigged enquiry Guto. So that your associates didn’t go to prison.

The Mountain Rescue teams in north Wales get a great deal of good PR and I’m sure that for the most part they do a worthwhile job, but there are members past and present of the Mountain Rescue teams who could give police statements about certain matters. One member of the Ogwen team is Phil Benbow, who is a senior nurse at Ysbyty Gwynedd and for a long time was a senior nurse in the Hergest Unit. Phil Benbow did not abuse patients himself but he bloody well knew that it was happening. Phil was walking onto wards where patients had just been assaulted and had visible injuries. He was told how those injuries happened as well. Time to speak out Phil? Patients died up there. Not on your shifts, but you knew that place was crawling with dangerous violent Angels and that patients were not safe.

One abuser who was involved with Mountain Rescue in north Wales – but I don’t think that it was the Ogwen team – was dear old Stephen Gallagher (see post ‘Two Dangerous Very Dishonest Nurses’). A past leading light in the Ogwen team was the late Tony Jones, a lecturer at Bangor University, who was close friends with many corrupt officers in the North Wales Police and used to get his mates to arrest students that he didn’t like just for a laugh. An aspiring policeman also volunteered with the Ogwen team. He didn’t get into the police force – something was found on his record when he was 19 that caused the North Wales Police to turn his application down. He was very angry about it at the time, but the North Wales Police wouldn’t budge. So he joined the Mountain Rescue team and then became a paramedic! I was told that the past event that the police had objected to was a violent incident. So someone put him in a green jump suit and stuck him in the back of an ambulance instead.

Vaughan Gething has announced that the Welsh Gov’t is to outlaw smoking in the fresh air in the grounds of public buildings, including hospitals, because of the risk to people’s health from passive smoking. Sharing thousands of cubic meters of fresh air with someone puffing on a fag is not the same as a newborn sharing a box room with someone chain smoking High Tar No 6 or Woodbines Vaughan. Before you worry about first world problems, I suggest that you ask yourself what else might be going wrong in the mental health services of the Betsi after the Tawel Fan Scandal and now the imprisonment of the flasher who was employed as a carer for having sex with a patient.

Carwyn has made a speech at Wales’s annual TUC conference in Llandudno. Carwyn told a lot of lies about the NHS – it is of course excellent – and talked about other achievements of his that the Wales TUC might not have been that impressed with, because Carwyn isn’t Jeremy Corbyn. Not that the Wales TUC will be in a position to point the finger at anyone now that it has been made public that Edwina Hart – the former Chair of Wales TUC – when she was Minister for the Economy and Finance, dished out business support funding in return for sexual favours (see post ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’).

Lastly I am delighted to be able to report another breakthrough from CR UK, who seem to have discovered many earth-shattering new things since this blog provided details of the previous research frauds conducted by people funded by CR UK. The latest breakthrough has been made by a research team from Cardiff (where else?). We are told that a method has been found of completely destroying cancer cells in ovarian cancer whilst leaving healthy tissue untouched. Details of viruses which have been ‘trained’ to recognise cancer cells were provided, along with info about the everyday habits of viruses, accompanied by the obligatory diagrams of the double helix. (Which might have to stop because somebody has just popped up with a challenge to the double helix model.) The main problem with ovarian cancer is diagnosing it in the first place and the Cardiff team don’t seem to be addressing that. Although we were told that the ‘cure’ ‘could soon be a possibility’, I note that the experiments have been conducted on mice and the work has not yet reached clinical trials. Work on mice takes many years before it translates into interventions in the clinic. Furthermore, the attrition rate of those procedures is very high – the vast majority of new drugs etc fall at the many hurdles between ‘it’s worked on the mice and the mice haven’t died’ stage and the ‘safe and effective in humans, ready for the clinic’ stage. Cardiff are jumping the gun.

Cottaging At Castle Gate

Previous posts have discussed Ron Davies – the former Labour MP for Caerphilly, 1983-01, Labour AM for Caerphilly, 1999-03 and Secretary of State for Wales, 1997-98 – and how Blair was just about to confirm that Ron would be First Secretary (First Minister) in the soon to be established National Assembly for Wales when Ron was caught with his trousers down on Clapham Common with a male prostitute called Boogie and had to resign as Secretary of State (see post ‘The Cradle Of Filth’). No-one ever quite got to the bottom of what had happened between Ron and Boogie because Alastair Campbell and Blair micromanaged what was made public about the incident. A number of versions of events were in circulation, including claims that Ron had been discovered starkers, or wearing women’s clothes. It was said that Ron had been mugged – yet Boogie the alleged mugger was interviewed by the police and not charged with any offence.

Rhodri Morgan’s autobiography has quite a lot to say about Ron – Rhodri was a good mate of his. Rhodri claims that Boogie ‘forced’ Ron to go to a cash machine, but kept Ron’s car because Ron forgot his PIN. Rhodri claims that the Boogie business came as a complete shock to him and questioned whether Ron really was someone who would ‘strike up a conversation with a total stranger from the margins of society on the grass verge on the edge of Clapham Common and then agree to go for a meal later that night with the man and his friends’.

Although Rhodri claimed to be completely surprised regarding the Boogie incident, he makes a number of other comments which suggest that he should not have been in the least bit surprised by it.

Rhodri admits that he had heard rumours concerning Ron’s ‘other life’, including information that Ron was frequenting a Turkish bath in Newport. There was rather very much more than a vague rumour about a Turkish bath.

Rhodri tells us that Brian Radford, a journo for ‘The People’, had heard rumours that Ron had driven in a private car up the A 470 and stopped at a public bogs known as a gay meeting place. Furthermore, ‘gay Welsh Tories’ had told Neil Wooding – ‘a prominent gay Welsh Labour figure’ – that Ron was ‘cottaging at Castle Gate’. In the same way that Dafydd Wigley claimed not to know what a paedophile was whilst spending decades as the MP for a constituency in which a paedophile gang operated which was assisted by some members of Wigley’s own party – including Ioan Bowen Rees, one of Wigley’s advisors – who occupied offices just around the corner from Wigley’s constituency office (see post ‘It Wasn’t On Our Radar’), Rhodri explained in his memoir that he didn’t know what cottaging was when he was first told that Ron was cottaging at Castle Gate.

So how did Rhodri discover what cottaging involved? A ‘Labour activist in Wrexham’ who worked as a medical secretary in Wrexham Maelor Hospital ‘where related issues’ were dealt with, one Lesley Griffiths, enlightened Rhodri. Lesley explained to Rhodri that cottaging was a term for casual sexual encounters between ‘predatory men’ which took place in public bogs. Lesley certainly knew all about it. Accordingly to Lesley, because the police regularly patrolled the bogs which were known to be used for cottaging purposes and shone torches under the doors in order to see if they could count two pairs of feet in a cubicle rather than just one, cottaging men busy in the cubicles would ensure that one of them stood in shopping bags placed on the floor. Thus the police would only spot two feet and some bags of shopping rather than four incriminating feet.

I am certainly impressed with Lesley Griffiths’ knowledge of cottaging. I didn’t know that about the shopping bags until I read Rhodri’s book. Neither did I realise that Lesley Griffiths’ work at Wrexham Maelor involved matters relating to cottaging men – I presumed that she just typed up letters concerning abdominal surgery or some such matter. In 2007, nearly ten years after Ron resigned over his liaison with Boogie, Lesley Griffiths was elected as the AM for Wrexham.

In 2011 Griffiths was promoted to the position of Health Minister and what a bloody wet blanket she was. My post ‘History Repeats Itself, First As Tragedy, Second As Farce’ describes how dismal Griffiths’ performance was and how she ignored correspondence from me regarding the harassment and threats that I was receiving from the paedophiles’ friends employed in the north Wales NHS. Griffiths was in post when I had to flee north west Wales after I received a midnight visitor – who was seen off by my dog – and after cars were driven carelessly in my direction at a high speed on a number of occasions. Then there was the incident when someone who had provided a statement about the harassment of me by senior managers of the NW Wales NHS Trust was threatened by a policeman with a gun. A few days later I was trailed through Cricieth and beyond by the same policeman with a gun…

None of this should surprise us. Whilst Lesley was busy being ‘a Labour activist’ she was a Wrexham Councillor. The Wrexham Councillors – with the noble exception of Malcolm King – completely ignored the activities of the paedophile gang on their doorstep. The victims of that paedophile gang were being taken to local GPs and Wrexham Maelor Hospital with non-accidental injuries that were never investigated. One boy with anal injuries was told that he had ‘piles’.

Lesley – if you knew about the intricacies of cottaging and you worked in a dept in the Maelor which dealt with ‘related matters’, presumably you would have been fully aware that teenaged boys don’t tend to have piles and that piles don’t result in anal injury. Although serious sexual assault does. How was it that you knew about the shopping bags but not about the paedophile ring, whereas I – who have never worked in Wrexham Maelor dealing with cottaging-related matters – knew about the paedophile gang on your patch, but not the shopping bags?

Lesley Griffith grew up near Wrexham and has spent her whole life there. How she missed that paedophile gang or the criminal Top Doctors and social workers who have surrounded her for her entire existence I do not know.

I’m not an aficionado like Lesley, but I knew back in 1984 that cottaging was going on in Bangor and furthermore that the particular brand of cottaging happening in the notorious Garth Road public conveniences did not involve consenting adult Ron Davies’s, but rather the propositioning of boys as young as eight by older men. The problem was so bad that a lady magistrate – I can’t remember her name – spoke about it to the ‘Bangor and Anglesey Mail’. She observed that it was outrageous that this was going on and she even gave a description of ‘the man in a flashy car’ who had been seen loitering around the bogs in question. The lady magistrate was particularly critical of the police whom she maintained were wilfully ignoring what was happening.

The reason why the business of the molesters in Garth Road public toilets being allowed to go about their business unhindered caused such uproar in Bangor was that Garth Road public toilets were situated directly opposite Bangor Police Station (the Police Station in Bangor relocated more recently). The police could have just looked out of their front window if they wanted to keep an eye on Garth Road public toilets.

Considering how serious the problem was, the ‘Bangor and Anglesey Mail’ paid remarkably little attention to it – they reported the concerns of that magistrate and then never returned to the subject. But then the ‘Bangor and Anglesey Mail’ had an interesting choice of articles. There was a vicious paedophile ring associated with serious organised crime operating in the Ty’r Felin children’s home in Bangor but never a word was published about it. There was bugger all coverage of the matter even when the Waterhouse Inquiry was taking place.

What the Bangor and Anglesey did publish however was articles in praise of Dr Dafydd Alun Jones – particularly in 1993-95 when Dafydd had become too embarrassing even for the NHS in north Wales and there was pressure on him to retire, pressure that he was doing all that he could to resist (see post ‘The Evolution Of A Drugs Baron?’). The ‘Bangor and Anglesey Mail’ entertained the patients of the Hergest Unit by repeatedly describing Dafydd as ‘Europe’s leading forensic psychiatrist’. Dafydd was not even a forensic psychiatrist let alone Europe’s leading. The Mail also waxed lyrical about the excellent forward thinking North Wales Hospital Denbigh, which according to Dafydd’s interviews with the journos was ‘unique’. Which I suppose was true, mental health care was and still is near-universally appalling in the UK but as far as I know Denbigh was the only institution with a dungeon for the unlawful imprisonment of the victims of a sex trafficking gang.

When I perused my medical files I discovered that the ‘Bangor and Anglesey Mail’ had an even cosier relationship with Dafydd than I realised. In 1988 a friend of mine who had experienced the joys of Dafydd’s idiocy and pomposity thought that it would be entertaining if we sent a completely mad letter to the ‘Bangor and Anglesey Mail’ under Dafydd’s name, repeating his expressions and his crazy ideas to see if they would publish it. Our letter was remarkably similar to the nonsense that Dafydd came out with when he addressed the Welsh Baptist Union in 1971 and told them that learning Bible verses in Welsh when one is a child can protect against a ‘serious moral collapse’ (see post ‘A Serious Moral Collapse’). We sent the letter off to the Editor but to our disappointment it was not published.

Many years later I found a photocopy of our letter in my medical files. It was attached to a compliments slip from the ‘North Wales Weekly News’ (the larger sister paper of the ‘Bangor and Anglesey Mail’) along with a note saying ‘The attached letter was sent to the Bangor and Anglesey Mail purporting to come from Dr DA Jones. He has asked me to pass it onto you.’ The note was signed ‘Penny Bosworth, reporter’ and Penny had helpfully provided everyone with her phone number – 362747 – should any of the paedophiles’ friends wish to get in touch.

As the comedian Mrs Merton would say, ‘so Penny Bosworth, how did you become so friendly with a man who was running a sex trafficking ring?’

Someone at the Mail obviously did believe that the letter was from Dafydd because it had been prepared for publication – the photocopy showed up the marks that newspaper editors make on pieces before the edition goes off to be printed. I have no idea who on the Mail realised that the letter was too crazy to even be from Dafydd and called in Dafydd’s mate Penny Bosworth.

Our spoof letter was not the only extract from the ‘Bangor and Anglesey Mail’ that turned up in my medical records. In 1996 the mental health services manager for north west Wales, Alun Davies, in collaboration with the paedophiles’ friends at even higher levels in the NHS than him, was well on the way to closing down the day centre at the Hergest Unit. The day centre was the only bit of the mental health services in north west Wales which actually worked and was very popular with the patients. The Arfon Community Mental Health Team were abusive and threatened to assault patients in their own homes, the Top Doctors were all mad and constantly had patients arrested for bizarre and trivial reasons, most of the best staff had left the wards as the Unit had gone further and further downhill at the hands of Alun Davies, but the day centre had a number of friendly, more competent staff and was also a place where a lot of patients who were isolated and living in poverty could meet their friends and socialise.

In true ‘service user involvement’ style, the patients were told that the day centre was ‘under review’ and that they were to be ‘consulted’ about the closure. The patients were horrified to hear of the plans to close the day centre and all voted to keep it open. Because the patients had voted the wrong way, more votes and focus groups were held and the patients were told that the day centre was very bad for them and furthermore that it was ‘old fashioned’. The patients continued to vote in favour of the day centre. Then an auditor was sent in – that was a real scream, because the auditor also came up with the wrong answer. He concluded that the day centre was providing an excellent service.

Then individual interviews were held and patients were directly asked why they insisted upon attending the day centre instead of making appointments to see the Arfon Community Mental Health Team. Patients responded with comments such as ‘because one of them said that he would hit me’ but that wasn’t recorded. Instead it was recorded that patients were ‘misusing’ the NHS by visiting the day centre in order to access the coffee facilities and lunches. That was true for some patients, but what wasn’t recorded was that numerous patients were living in such poverty that they couldn’t afford sufficient food. This was because the Arfon Team and Top Doctors had not told most patients about their entitlement to disability benefits, so many patients were living at sub-benefit levels. The day centre staff knew about this, as did the occupational therapy team – but they were told that helping with benefits advice was not their remit.

It is worth noting here on what grounds the Arfon Team and Top Docs refused to help patients with benefit claims or indeed housing. People were refused help if they ‘had upset people’. I and other patients noticed that the patients who were said to have ‘upset people’ were those who had complained about Dafydd and the paedophiles. As one patient said to me more recently ‘so I upset a gang of paedophiles 20 years ago and now I can’t get the help to which I am legally entitled’.

That was the sum of it. The day centre staff had a policy of supplying biscuits and milk and coffee for the patients because they knew that many of them didn’t have those things at home and I know at least two of the occupational therapists brought in old clothes and bits and pieces from their homes in order to supply patients with basics. Patients were also having their teeth extracted when they had toothache because extractions were cheaper than fillings.

‘Oooh it’s never been this bad in the NHS, it’s Carwyn’s cuts’. No it’s not, it’s the bloody paedophile gang wreaking havoc. Retired nurses from Denbigh had yachts moored off Anglesey and second homes in Florida (see post ‘A Solicitor’s Letter From North East Wales MIND’), Dafydd was reputed to be a millionaire but the patients couldn’t afford food and toothpaste.

Then Alun Davies announced that the free bus travel which most of the patients relied upon to get to the day centre would be withdrawn. So only the four or five financially well off patients with cars and those within walking distance of the day centre could actually get there. Attendance dropped from over 200 during the week to less than 30.

Alun Davies announced that after ‘extensive consultation with the service users’ it was clear that the day centre was ‘under used’ and that it would therefore be closing. Davies then tried to sack one of the occupational therapists who had been bringing old clothes in to help the patients who couldn’t afford clothes.

Before the day centre closed its doors – the day centre was turned into offices, which is what hospitals should be used for of course – I and other patients wrote letters to newspapers, MPs etc.

In my medical records, the copies of the letters that I wrote to the ‘Bangor and Anglesey Mail’ in defence of the day centre are lovingly preserved.

After the day centre closed down a number of patients became destitute and others were found dead. So many people died that one of my friends started referring to the National Holocaust Service. Other patients just went off the radar and disappeared.

The attack on the day centre began in about 1995. Just as the demands for an investigation into the possibility that a paedophile ring was at work in north Wales could no longer be ignored. By the time that the Waterhouse Inquiry was underway, support – and indeed basic medical care – was being withdrawn from many mental health patients. Before Ronnie Waterhouse had completed that Report the day centre had closed and en masse destitution and deaths had begun.

After the old fashioned day centre was shut down, there was an increased investment in ‘other community services more appropriate to patients needs’. The Arfon Community Mental Health Team blossomed and there were even more of them employed to threaten patients, have them arrested and refuse to provide any services to patients who had upset people. A room above a disused pub in Caernarfon was opened on a Tuesday as a ‘community facility’ for patients in Gwynedd. The room wasn’t heated and there was no coffee provided, so a farmer’s wife from near Caernarfon – who was appalled at what was happening to patients – volunteered to go in every Tuesday and cook a communal meal.  She provided the ingredients herself. There was transport provided though – a minibus did a journey through the hill villages and picked up the few people who fancied spending a Tuesday in a freezing cold room above the disused pub.

The farmer’s wife told me that one week an old man from Penygroes who was in a very bad way was loaded onto the minibus by the driver. The old man had just put his clothes on over his pyjamas, he hadn’t eaten, washed, shaved etc for days and once he got to the room above the disused pub, he just sat there all day unmoving and also wet himself. The farmer’s wife observed that if that had been one of your relatives you’d have taken them straight to A&E. But no-one did, the minibus driver loaded the old man back onto the bus at the end of the day and took him back to Penygroes. The old man wasn’t at the disused pub the next week – he had been found dead in his house.

When I told Brown about this, Brown observed that the North West Wales NHS Trust operated on the same principle as the Nazis did when they transported people to the concentration camps – they counted the bodies onto the trains and counted them again at the other end but didn’t bother to note if anyone had died during the journey.

Alun Davies might as well have installed a gas chamber for the Hergest patients. Davies told so many bloody lies that no-one would have noticed if he had invited people to go into the showers but something other than water was coming out.

It was repeatedly alleged that the North Wales Police colluded with the paedophile gang operating in north Wales. The Chief Constable of North Wales, 1982-94 – David Owen  – flatly refused to co-operate with the first major investigation into the possible existence of a paedophile gang in the region. I have mentioned previously that one of the police officers who was constantly ordered by the mental health services to arrest me was Sgt Tim Evans. I was told by a third party that Sgt Evans made it clear that he thought that the whole situation was farcical and was asking why a hospital full of highly paid consultants were summoning the police on an almost daily basis to ‘deal with’ patients who had simply complained – I was one of the highest profile people in this position. At one point Sgt Evans refused to arrest me and I understand that he told the paedophiles’ friends that I had rights too and he just couldn’t arrest me when I had broken absolutely no law.

In response to Tim Evans refusing to wrongfully arrest me, Dr Tony Francis (Dr X) wrote to Chief Constable David Owen and complained about Tim Evans. Francis stressed that Tim Evans and his colleagues were merely a bunch of uneducated plods but that the Top Doctors were Experts and knew how dangerous I was. Tim subsequently turned up at my place on every occasion after a ludicrous complaint was made about me to haul me off to the police station, although he did apologise for this, explaining that if he did not do it he was going to be disciplined and could be sacked.

Tim Evans undoubtedly knew what the paedophiles’ friends were up to – he had lived opposite Mary Wynch in Caernarfon for a start and he knew what had happened there (see post ‘The Mary Wynch Case – Details’). I presume that he was one of the many police officers who knew how bad the criminality was but it was prevalent at such a high level in the North Wales Police that he was unable to challenge it.

Sgt Evans may well have been right to have been worried. In the summer of 1987 Sgt Morgan of Bangor Police Station stuck his neck out to protect me in the face of the grand plan of Dafydd et al to frame and imprison me for ‘trying to stab a doctor’ (see post ‘Workers Play Time’). Alun Davies bellowed at me that ‘we’ll be making a complaint about him’. A few months later Sgt Morgan was prosecuted for indecently assaulting a teenaged girl in Bangor Police Station and was sacked. That must have been the first time in the history of north Wales that the word of a 14 year old girl under arrest had been taken above that of a police officer. The indecent assault constituted Sgt Morgan putting his hand in the back pocket of the girl’s jeans whilst searching her – interestingly enough Sgt Morgan claimed to be searching for condoms.

Now Sgt Morgan may well have done what he was accused of doing. Sgt Morgan was famously obsessed with sex and did enjoy discussing it with people under arrest. However, Sgt Morgan’s ‘indecent assault’ on the girl occurred at a time when Dafydd was unlawfully imprisoning people who had suffered serious sexual assault in the dungeon at the North Wales Hospital. Why was Sgt Morgan held to account in a way in which no-one else was? Furthermore victims of the paedophile gang were regularly fitted up for serious offences. Interestingly enough, Jeff Crowther, a psychiatric nursing officer at Ysbyty Gwynedd, seemed to know that Sgt Morgan was going to be found guilty before Sgt Morgan’s trial had taken place.

Sgt Morgan seems to be in the same category as John Grant Jones, the former Clerk to the Magistrates in Bangor, who after a career at the heart of the paedophiles and their friends, was prosecuted for fiddling his pension entitlements and was sacked in 2005 and stripped of his OBE. By the time that the Dept of Constitutional Affairs sacked John Grant Jones, he had become the Justices’ Committee Chief Executive.

I remember John Grant Jones very well, he was rather nicer to the defendants in Bangor Magistrates Court than many other people were and he knew that people were being framed by Dafydd et al. Even if he did fiddle his pension, fiddling the pension really does pale into insignificance in comparison to what else was happening in the criminal justice system in north Wales. John Grant Jones was the first person to be stripped of his OBE in north Wales. All the corrupt senior police officers, NHS managers and Top Docs are still in possession of their gongs, even Elfed Roberts who decided that he was going to leave the North Wales Police when it was noticed that he seemed to be very wealthy and leading a gold-plated existence for a policeman. The Elfed whom I was told was known to be ‘corrupt’ back in the 1970s when he was still just a sergeant in Llangefni.

So who was Lord Chancellor – the person who presided over the Dept for Constitutional Affairs – when Jones Grant Jones was stuffed over yet the paedophiles’ friends were allowed to hang onto their jobs and gongs? It was Charlie Falconer.

Spit it out Charlie – what did John Grant Jones know about who that resulted in him being shot at dawn?

Chief Constable David Owen was President of the ACPO in 1990. He came from Gwynedd – he was the son of a police sergeant himself – but served with the Metropolitan Police, Lincolnshire Police, the Merseyside and Dorset forces before returning to North Wales.

Michael Argent succeeded David Owen as Chief Constable of North Wales. Argent didn’t refuse to investigate the organised abuse of children in north Wales, but he refused to allow another Chief Constable to oversee the investigation, although by then part of the remit was to investigate the North Wales Police themselves after allegations had been made that police officers were abusing children.

Former Superintendent Gordon Anglesea received the full support of the Police Federation throughout the years that he was accused of abusing children in care and even after he was convicted and imprisoned in 2016. Anglesea died in prison and at the time of his death was planning an appeal. The Police Federation were supporting him and there had been offers from barristers to represent Anglesea free of charge. The Police Federation turned up in force at Anglesea’s funeral to give him a good send off.

There are quite a few references in my medical records to police who were very obviously colluding with wrongdoing on the part of the paedophiles’ friends. There are of course the references to Superintendent Roberts from Bangor Police Station and the ‘deal’ that he had with Dafydd to wrongfully arrest me, unlawfully deliver me to Bryn Golau – the locked ward – at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh where the nurses were instructed not to let me out by Dr Neil Davies. The nurses told Neil Davies that they were very unhappy at being involved with this ‘deal’ because it was illegal, but Neil Davies explained to them that they weren’t guilty because the deal was between Superintendent Roberts and the Top Doctors – all the nurses had to do was to refuse to let me go (see post ‘How I Arrived At Denbigh’).

There are a number of references to a Chief Inspector Parry of Bangor Police Station who seems to have been very accommodating with regard to the paedophiles’ friends in 1988. In 1988 I was living in Surrey and working at the University of Surrey as a member of the cancer research team led by Professor Vincent Marks, who’s brother John Marks was Chairman of the BMA at the time. The shenanigans behind the scenes – including the plagiarism of my work which was then published by Professor Nicola Curtin of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne University Medical School of whom I had never heard until the other day and the involvement of a colleague of Dr Tony Francis’s in a scandal which resulted in a member of a related cancer research team being found dead – are described in my posts ‘Oh Lordy, It’s CR UK’, ‘Reports Of Death Were Greatly Exaggerated’ and ‘Apocalypse Now’.

I was continuing to write to the NHS in north Wales requesting that my complaints should be investigated. I received no replies other than threats to prosecute me on the grounds that I was ‘harassing’ people by my letters and demands that I stop writing to them.

A letter dated 24 Aug 1988 from Dr AH Chadwick of the BMA’s Welsh Office in Cardiff to Dr DJC Davies, the Chief Medical Administrative Officer for Gwynedd Health Authority, refers to their meeting in DJC Davies’s office on 8 July 1988 and expresses ‘extreme concern’ about my ‘antics’. My antics being those letters of complaint which detailed the serious criminality of Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends. Chadwick wrote that ‘today I have been requested by the four BMA consultant psychiatrists for urgent assistance’ and that he has now received ‘further alarming reports’ about me. The ‘four BMA consultant psychiatrists’ are the paedophiles’ friends Tony Francis, his wife Sadie Francis, Dr M. Devakumar and Dafydd.

On 2 Sep 1988 PM Rees, an administrator for Gwynedd Health Authority, wrote to Chadwick, referring to Chadwick’s letter of 24 Aug 1988 to Dr DJC Davies, regarding plans to arrange a meeting between the psychiatrists, the corrupt Welsh Office lawyer Andrew Park, ‘solicitor to the Welsh Health Authorities’ and a representative of the North Wales Police.

On 14 Sept 1988 a letter from PM Rees to Devakumar explained that ‘as requested through the BMA’, a meeting had been arranged with Chief Inspector Parry to discuss me.

A document dated 21/9/88 constitutes the notes made after a meeting at Ysbyty Gwynedd held on 16 Sept 1988 ‘to discuss the action to be taken’ regarding the ‘problems’ posed by me. The usual suspects attended the meeting – a collection of Top Docs, senior Angels and managers who have featured previously on this blog – as did Chief Inspector Parry. Parry confirmed at the meeting that at Bangor Magistrates Court in Nov 1987 I was given a conditional discharge and bound over for a year. That was the result of an attempt by Dafydd to have me prosecuted for assaulting a doctor. It subsequently became clear that I hadn’t assaulted anyone – I had however shouted at a doctor. The doctor concerned had been involved in threatening me and illegally detaining me at Ysbyty Gwynedd earlier that year (see post ‘The Night Of The (Dr Chris) Hunter’) and of course my requests for an investigation had been ignored.  After the assault case collapsed, the paedophiles’ friends had me prosecuted for breach of the peace. Parry explained to the meeting that ‘any threatening behaviour during this period could result in her retrial for the original offence’.

Obviously there had been no ‘threatening behaviour’ from me because I had not been retried.

Another document in my medical records simply entitled ‘Gwynedd Health Authority’ records that Chief Inspector Geoff Lloyd of the North Wales Police attended a meeting about me on 14 Oct 1988 with Andrew Park and usual suspects. A new name joined the usual suspects – Mr G. Palmer, Chief Administrative Nursing Officer. At this meeting Tony Francis informed everyone about the injunction that he had taken out against me, on the basis of him perjuring himself and giving an account of all those assaults which it was later admitted by Andrew Park and Francis’s own lawyers Hempsons that I had not committed. Dafydd told the meeting that he was not prepared to take out an injunction against me. In 1994 Dafydd changed his mind and obtained an injunction in the High Court in Liverpool after discussing his anus in court and the threats made by another person to stick a hand-grenade up his bum, which according to Dafydd was all my fault (see post ‘These Sharks Are Crap As Well’). I will be blogging more about Dafydd and his injunction soon.

Chief Inspector Geoff Lloyd told the meeting that my conditional discharge imposed by Bangor Magistrates would run out on 10 Nov 1988. The note stated that the ‘Malicious Communications Act was coming into force on 29 Sept 1989’ and it was agreed to refer any mail sent by me to after that date to members of staff which contained ‘malicious communications’ to the police with a view to prosecuting me under this legislation.

There was never any attempt to prosecute me under the Malicious Communications Act so presumably my communications weren’t malicious enough. However I am curious about the use of the tense in the letter ie. that the Act ‘was coming into force’. This suggests that the document was written before the Act came into force – but the note claims to be an account of a meeting held AFTER the Act had come into force. There are no signatures on this document and I am wondering if it is yet another document which was not compiled when, or recording what, it claimed. I have a number of such documents in my possession – many of them dated during 1988 or 1989. I believe that they were forged or at the very least were backdated and written long after the date would suggest (see post ‘Possible Discovery Of More Forged Or Amended Documents’). Many of these documents were allegedly written by Alun Davies and were letters to the Welsh Office regarding my complaints. The dates are inconsistent, none of the letters are signed and there are other errors in the letters which suggest that they were written by someone at a much later date to cover the arse of the north Wales NHS. I will be blogging more about them soon.

My medical records contain an internal memo dated 8 Nov 1988 to Alun Davies from Tony Francis complaining that my letters have not been forwarded to the police. Francis demands that this is done and also says that he’s made a statement to the police and forwarded a letter to the administrators to give to the police. The memo states that it was dictated but not signed by Tony Francis.

There is an undated letter from Alun Davies to Chief Inspector Parry saying that Davies is sending Parry a letter that I had written to Dafydd.

My suspicions that there was a great deal of forgery going on are confirmed by a note dated 24 Nov 1988  explaining that Andrew Park has amended an account of a meeting ‘as arranged’. This was not Park redrafting a lawyer’s letter – this was Park making up what happened in a meeting in which the homicidal maniac that was me was being discussed. A meeting attended by a senior police officer. What ever would be wrong with providing a fictitious account of that meeting?

It will have been very clear to Chief Inspectors Parry and Lloyd that in spite of the florid allegations that were made about my ‘antics’ constantly, there was no evidence that I was doing anything other than writing very angry letters detailing criminal activity and asking for an investigation. Furthermore there had been a number of incidents in which the paedophiles’ friends had been demonstrated to have perjured themselves in their attempts to have me charged yet no questions had been asked about them lying to the police. By the time that Parry and Lloyd were attending these meetings about me, Dafydd had been sued by Mary Wynch and the case had been reported in the London-based press and Alison Taylor had blown the whistle on the abuse of children in care in Gwynedd and had been sacked from her job by Dafydd’s mistress Lucille Hughes.

Whilst the Chief Inspectors attended meetings with the paedophiles’ friends, Alun Davies had recorded a conversation with me without my knowledge in which the fat idiot had tried to entrap me, without success. There is a transcript of the call in my files, with Davies asking me ‘ooh what are you planning to do to us then’, obviously hoping I was going to fly off the handle and explain how I would be decapitating and dismembering them all in the near future.

There  are other references to other obliging police officers in my files.

On 13 Oct 1990, Mr D. Hinchcliffe, the general administrator of the North Wales Hospital Denbigh, wrote to the policeman at Denbigh Police Station, Mr Bob Rowlands, about my ‘harassment’ of them all. Mr Hinchcliffe was obviously on good terms with Mr Rowlands because the letter begins ‘Dear Bob’. Mr Hinchliffe mentions a previous letter of his about me which he sent to Bob on 25 Sept 1995, but my files don’t have a copy of that one. I wonder why? Hinchliffe’s letter to Bob was CC’d to Dafydd, D. Griffiths and Janice Davies. D. Griffiths was a general administrator at Clwyd Health Authority who had a solid track record of refusing to reply to my letters detailing the criminal activities of Janice Davies – Dafydd’s Nurse Ratched on Bryn Golau Ward.

On 11 Oct 1994 Dafydd wrote to the MDU, 192 Altrincham Road, Sharston, Manchester about me. His refers to his previous letters about me behaving an a ‘menacing and intrusive way’. He accuses me of throwing a rock through a glass door at his house on Anglesey. Not that Dafydd had any evidence at all that I did this. Indeed Dafydd isn’t quite sure when the rock was thrown because he wasn’t actually in his house when it happened. Dafydd explains that he ‘was away’ but ‘two person were sleeping in the house and found the rock and broken glass door in the morning’. Dafydd thinks that the rock was thrown through the door ‘at probably about 3 am’. How the hell did he managed to time if if he wasn’t there and the only two people who were, were slumbering – did one of them at least not wake up when the rock came flying through the door????. Oh – Dafydd had a dog as well, a drug dealer’s dog, a Doberman who tried to attack the police on one occasion. Didn’t the dog bark? As for knowing that it was me who threw the rock – of course he knew that it was, because as Dafydd tells the MDU lawyers Hempsons ‘I can conceive of no other person likely to have done this’.

Dafydd was running a sex trafficking ring who dealt in drugs and child porn, I can conceive of a great many people who might have chucked the rock. If indeed a rock had ever been chucked. Dafydd noticeably provides no evidence whatever – no photos, no statements from the two persons who were sleeping in the house, not a sausage. He did tell the MDU that I was charged with assault on a junior doctor but he forgot to add that the charges were dropped when the junior doctor admitted that I hadn’t assaulted him after all.

Dafydd also says in his letter that a psychiatrist ‘whose name escapes me at the moment but which can be retrieved’ stated that I would ‘very likely end in a secure ward for the criminally insane’.

Yes Dafydd, because you, Tony Francis, Dr Chris Hunter and the rest of the paedophiles’ friends were constantly trying to fit me up after carrying out secret assessments on me which concluded with recommendations that I should be sent to a high security hospital because I was criminally insane…

Dafydd mentions one such incident – ‘I can recall an occasion when forensic psychiatrists attended a conference discussing the possible risks and possible management’. Would that have been the conference held by Dafydd’s mate Dr Chris Hunter – of whom I had never even heard at the time – who held a conference about me after Tony Francis and Dafydd asked him to? A conference that was held without my knowledge in north Wales – whilst I was working in a London medical school. A conference which was attended solely by paedophiles’ friends, many of whom had never met me (see post ‘The Night Of The (Dr Chris) Hunter’).

There is no solid evidence amongst any of this garbage – if the name of the person who made the splendid comments about me ending in a ward for the criminally insane ‘can be retrieved’, why wasn’t it retrieved before Dafydd wrote this letter? Or indeed since?

The name of that particular person wasn’t retrieved, but a whole list of other names was. Dafydd had back up! He told the MDU that they had his permission to approach: Avril Davies, the Mental Health Act Administrator at the Hergest Unit; Alun Davies; Tony and Sadie Francis; Hugh Thomas Pierce; Mrs Janice Glass; DC S.A. Owen ‘who has now become extensively involved in this matter’.

Avril Davies and the Francis’s were paedophiles’ friends. I have no idea who Hugh Thomas Pierce is. Janice Glass was one of Dafydd’s servants at his house, but I’ve never met her. And I did not even know of the existence of DC Owen, although he/she had become ‘extensively involved in this matter’.

I only heard about me throwing a rock through Dafydd’s door at 3 am some time after I’d done it, when a nurse at the Hergest Unit told me what I’d done. Which is just as well – DC Owen or indeed any other police officer hadn’t interviewed me about my crime, so if that helpful nurse hadn’t have let me known that I’d been over at Dafydd’s in the small hours chucking rocks through his door, I’d have been blissfully unaware of my crimes.

Dafydd worked as an expert medical witness. This is a man who had people banged up in Ashworth and Broadmoor for the rest of their lives on the basis of his ‘evidence’.

Much more recently in 2009 DC Steve Power was involved in yet another attempt to frame me on the part of the North West Wales NHS Trust – after a previous attempt had fallen apart (see post ‘After The Attempt To Frame Me…’). When my lawyer had Steve bang to rights in the police station, Steve announced that he would be taking this matter no further because he was retiring in a matter of days. I recognised Steve Power when he interviewed me in 2009. I had met him about four years previously, after I made a complaint to the police about being assaulted by staff in the Hergest Unit. I was locked in a room and prevented from reporting the assault when it happened, so after I got out of the Hergest Unit I wrote to the North Wales Police. I received a letter back with an appointment to discuss the matter at Caernafon Police Station. I turned up for the appointment only to be told by the police officer on duty that ‘another matter’ had arisen, so he was unable to see me. He told me that he would send me another appointment. I never heard another word. The officer was DC Steve Power.

Alison Taylor the social worker who blew the whistle on the abuse of the children in care in north Wales had a great deal of trouble with the North Wales Police. The two North Wales Police officers who’s names are usually heard in relation to the investigations into the abuse of children in care after Alison blew the whistle are Detective Superintendent Peter Ackerley and Detective Chief Superintendent Gwynne Owen. Alison’s concerns were rubbished and she was accused of fabricating multiple abuse allegations, including allegations against former Superintendent Gordon Anglesea and manipulating children into making false accusations.

I too was accused of ‘manipulating’ and ‘encouraging’ people to complain about Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends. It never seemed to occur to the paedophiles’ friends that their conduct was so dreadful that when it was witnessed by people other than kids in care or psych patients – who had become very used to being routinely abused – people were horrified. They didn’t need to be ‘encouraged’ or ‘manipulated’ by me to complain.

The conduct of the North Wales Police over many years left a great deal to be desired.

I have found out that former Detective Constable Jo Bott was interviewed during the 1991-93 investigation into child abuse in north Wales. Bott repeatedly took refuge by answering ‘no comment’. Well there’s a turn up for the books – because when I witnessed Jo in action in 1993 when she was a key mover and shaker in false accusations that a new father was a danger to his baby whilst two people who had sexually and physically abused children were afforded full protection by Bott, Bott had a great deal to say. In fact Jo was ever so friendly and chatty as she extracted information from a new parent who trusted her. When Jo returned to see that man a few weeks later, having used the information that he provided about the abuse of at least FOUR children to protect the abusers and frame an innocent person, Jo still had a bit more to say – only this time, what she had to say was rather unpleasant and threatening as opposed to friendly and chatty (see post ‘It’s All About Protecting Children’).

Come on Jo, tell us what you know about who had it in for the other completely innocent and good father involved in it all as well, Martin – who was found dead at a most convenient time for you and the paedophiles’ friends…

The 1991-93 North Wales Police investigation into child abuse recommended that Gordon Anglesea should be prosecuted. Not only was he not prosecuted until many, many years later, but this information was concealed. It only became public in 1997 when Gerard Elias QC revealed it at the Waterhouse Inquiry.

It is thought that the Police Federation backed Gordon Anglesea’s libel case against HTV Wales, Private Eye, The Indie on Sunday and The Observer, which Anglesea won in 1994 (see posts ‘Y Gwir Yn Erbyn Y Byd’ and ‘Y Gwir Yn Erbyn Y Byd – A Few Additional Comments’). North Wales Police officers attended Anglesea’s libel hearing and they knew that information was being witheld ie. that there had been a recommendation that Anglesea should be prosecuted.

In 2005 the ‘investigative journalist’ Richard Webster published a book called ‘The Secret of Bryn Estyn’. Webster’s book was principally a vehicle for trashing the reputation of Alison Taylor. His theory was that the secret of Bryn Estyn was that there was no serious abuse there, that it was just another bog standard mediocre children’s home.

I cannot understand why Webster ever took an interest in Bryn Estyn. He had no connections with Wales and when he planned and wrote the book he was based in Suffolk. He contacted people in north Wales telling them that he was writing a book on institutional child abuse in 1996 but BEFORE the Waterhouse Inquiry was announced.

Webster’s volume is substantial, but it is clear to anyone from north Wales that Webster either had no idea of what was going on or that for some reason he had been sent to assist the paedophiles’ friends. No-one could have lived in north Wales for any length of time over the last few decades and not have noticed that the health and welfare services were and still are truly dreadful. This escaped Webster. He also concluded that Lucille Hughes paying a special visit in person to interview a kid who had alleged that he had been abused was a sign of Lucille’s concern and conscientiousness. This was Lucille bloody Hughes – she probably went out to see the boy to threaten him at gun point, Lucille was not a nice person.

No-one seems to know who funded Webster whilst he ‘researched’ and wrote his book. He made many visits to north Wales and stayed there for substantial lengths of time. Furthermore Webster enjoyed a very cosy relationship with certain people in the North Wales Police.

Some two weeks after the publication of the Waterhouse Report in 2000, Richard Webster wrote an article for the ‘New Statesman’ entitled ‘Can A Whistleblower Be Wrong?’. This was an attack on Alison Taylor where she was accused again of making it all up and getting the kids to make it all up as well. In order to write the article, Webster had gained possession of confidential police documents, including witness statements. He had interviewed Peter Ackerley at length on at least one occasion, although this was denied by Diane Kaiser, the solicitor for the North Wales Police – documentation subsequently demonstrated that Webster had interviewed Ackerley. Webster also used the statements that Gwynne Owen – another person who trashed Alison – made to the CPS for the NS article.

The ‘New Statesman’ had a shock when in 2001 Alison sued them for defamation. I think that Alison represented herself. The NS admitted in court that they published Webster’s article on the assumption that Alison could not afford to sue them. The publisher of the NS at the time of the article was Peter Wilby and it was owned by Geoffrey Robinson. The NS instructed Bindman and Partners to act for them and Adam Speker QC was Counsel. Bindman and Partners had represented Peter Howarth at the Waterhouse Inquiry. Howarth was one of the prime organisers of the paedophile ring in north Wales and was jailed for numerous sex offences against the boys in Bryn Estyn.

In 2002 the NS and Webster fell out. The NS severed his representation on the grounds of the irreconcilable differences between them and Webster because of his refusal to settle the case. The NS subsequently settled with Alison in Dec 2002 and she withdrew her case against Webster. Webster protested about the publication of a settlement notice – he was represented (it was suspected pro bono) by Adrienne Page QC. Page is the cohabitee of Adam Speker and a colleague of Cherie Booth. Justice David Eady presided over the hearing, despite Eady having had previous dealings with Webster.

Page and Speker continued their links with Webster and they provided legal advice for ‘The Secret of Bryn Estyn’. The book was launched at a party in the Commons organised by Claire Curtis-Thomas, the then Labour MP for Crosby. Curtis-Thomas is associated with Dr Death’s mate Shirley Williams and she also has close links to the Westminster Paedophile Ring hot spots of south Wales and Cheshire. Webster published the book himself – and later self-published a paperback version.

Webster died in 2011 but his website – which is yet another vehicle for trashing Alison Taylor – is still online and is obviously being maintained by someone.

Someone must have been behind Webster. He seems to have had only one principle aim – to discredit Alison Taylor in any way that he could. His was an expensive project and somebody footed the bill.

Geoffrey Robinson, the owner of the ‘New Statesman’ when it launched Webster’s attack on Alison, has been the Labour MP for Coventry North West since 1976. Robinson was Blair’s Paymaster General, 1997-98 – he resigned after lending all that dosh to Mandy…Robinson’s personal fortune is estimated at approx £30 million. Robinson owns a number of homes even grander than the one that Mandy purchased with the dosh that was lent to him by Robinson, including one in Tuscany at which the Blairs took one of their famous holidays courtesy of their very rich friends.

To return to Ron Davies.

Rhodri Morgan explains that Neil Wooding passed the warning about Ron cottaging at the Castle Gate to Val Feld, ‘a big cheese in the Swansea Labour movement’ and a close friend of Julie, Rhodri’s wife. So Val Feld told Julie.

Val Feld was a woman from a privileged family in Caernarfon who knew all about the abuse of vulnerable people in Wales and I bet that she knew about Ron before Neil Wooding said anything to her. Val founded Shelter Cymru and was the Director of the EOC (Equal Opportunities Commission) for Wales, 1989-99. She was the AM for Swansea East, 1999-01. Val was a mate of paedophiles’ friend Jane Hutt and just a few weeks ago Hutt had a plaque placed on the wall of the Senedd in tribute to Val who kept quiet about so much. For details of what Val ignored, see post ‘Reports Of Death Were Greatly Exaggerated’.

Neil Wooding, the man who sent up the flare regarding Ron Davies, is Director of Strategic Planning Performance and Capability at the Office for National Statistics. Neil is an old lag from the Welsh Gov’t. He was Director, Pubic Service Management Wales,

Not only did Rhodri claim not to know what cottaging was, but Rhodri also experienced confusion over Castle Gate, the site of Ron’s cottaging. Rhodri explains in his book that he presumed that ‘Castle Gate’ was the name of some dive of a pub where Ron had been entertaining himself. Then someone told Rhodri that Ron had been cottaging at Castle Gate in Cardiff – the entrance to Cardiff Castle. Which was approx 100 yards from Rhodri’s constituency office in Transport House.

Rhodri was nearly as close to Ron’s preferred cottaging territory as the Bangor Police were to Garth Road public toilets.

Rhodri wonders in his book whether Blair ‘knew about’ Ron. It is highly probable that he did because Blair specialised in promoting paedophiles’ friends to high office, particularly the Lords. However Rhodri does confirm that ‘MI5 didn’t know’ because of Ron’s ‘astonishing ability to cover his tracks’.

Cottaging at the entrance to Cardiff Castle hardly demonstrates an astonishing ability to cover one’s tracks. Rather it demonstrates complete confidence that everyone knows what you are doing and that no-one is going to blow the gaffe. Of course MI5 knew, they were probably the strangers who were meeting Ron at the Castle Gate for sex. Why does Ron think that the encounter with Boogie ended in disaster just as Blair was about to ensure that Ron became Wales’s FM?

Rhodri notes that Ron was good mates with Nick Brown. Nick Brown has been the Labour MP for Newcastle-Upon-Tyne East since 1983. Nick’s CV ticks numerous boxes which suggests that he has known about the paedophiles and their friends for decades (see post ‘News From Sicily’).

Shortly after Ron Davies had his moment of madness with Boogie, Nick – who was the Minister of Agriculture at the time – became embroiled in some sort of scandal involving a rent boy. Blair’s autobiography ‘A Journey’ admits that Alastair Campbell successfully re-packaged the incident as a good-news story about Brown coming out as gay because Blair was crapping himself at the idea of the Gov’t being hit by two sex scandals in such close succession.

According to journalist Tom Bower, Nick Brown ‘was accused of paying £100 to rent boys to be kicked around a room, and admitted his sexuality’.

‘Private Eye’ recently reported that Nick Brown is suing Bower over a particular sentence in Bower’s book ‘Broken Vows’ -not even a sentence that I would have thought was particularly incriminating. Brown’s barrister is Adrienne Paige QC! Paige was one of the junior barristers who worked with the crooked barrister George Carman on libel cases (No Ordinary Methods’). Carman knew about the north Wales/Cheshire paedophile gang and its link to the Westminster Paedophile Ring. Blair was a junior barrister in Carman’s team and Carman was also the head of Cherie’s chambers.

Although Ron was a Master of Disguise with a Cunning Plan who excelled in covering his tracks by having casual sex with male strangers in central Cardiff at one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions, Ron was gregarious and socialised with many people who of course all had no idea at all of his ‘other life’. The other life that was a constant source of gossip.

Rhodri was such a good mate of Ron that Rhodri was the campaign manager behind Ron’s efforts to become what Rhodri called ‘Top Taff’ in the Shadow Cabinet. Ron became Top Taff in 21 Oct 1993 when John Smith appointed him Shadow Secretary of State for Wales. Ron remained as Top Taff after John Smith’s death, throughout Margaret Beckett’s position as Acting Leader of the Labour Party and continued in the role once Blair ascended the throne.

Whilst Rhodri was busy negotiating Ron’s future as Top Taff, I was subjected to constant attempts by the paedophiles’ friends in north Wales to construct me as a dangerous offender and imprison me. Attempts which continued with increased vigour after Ron had become Top Taff because by then people just would not stop alleging that a paedophile ring was in operation in north Wales which was being concealed at the highest levels of society because of its links to Westminster and Whitehall and its connections to paedophile rings in other parts of the UK.

Ron’s Chief Political Advisor and spin doctor was Rhodri’s next door neighbour, Huw. Huw was married to Julia, who had been Rhodri’s secretary since shortly after he was first elected to the Commons in 1987. After Ron resigned as Secretary of State in Oct 1998, he hid from the media by staying at Huw and Julia’s place. Nick Horton, the chief political reporter of the ‘Western Mail’, turned up at Rhodri’s house in search of Ron because he’d been told that Ron was there. Rhodri was so relieved that Horton never guessed that Ron was next door – no-one knew that Ron was in there because Huw and Julia drew the curtains for the whole weeks whilst Ron laid low. House of Ron’s adviser and spin doctor goes into lock-down for a week with all curtains drawn whilst Ron is rumoured to be kipping at Rhodri’s next door? Of course no-one guessed – the fact that no-one published Ron’s whereabouts was completely unrelated to everyone having egg on their faces after keeping schtum about Ron for years.

Something went a bit sour after Ron’s resignation though. Rhodri makes reference to strained relationships and Julia resigning as Rhodri’s secretary…

In previous happier times, at Welsh night during the 1996 Labour Party Conference, the Welsh Affairs team all dined together – Rhodri, Ron and Win Griffiths.

Win Griffiths is a former teacher who was Labour MEP for South Wales,  1979-89 and Labour MP for Bridgend 1987-05. Griffiths was a junior Minister in the Welsh Office, 1997-98 reshuffle. After leaving Gov’t Griffiths Chaired the Welsh Grand Committee. He retired from Parliament in 2005.

After retiring Griffiths was Chair of Bro Morgannwg NHS Trust for eight years, a Trust which was in the usual troubled dysfunctional state for an NHS body. In 2012 Lesley Griffiths praised Win for his ‘dedication’ to Bro Morgannwg. Not sure that is much of an endorsement Win. Lesley also named Win’s successor as Chairman – it was Andrew Davies, the former AM for Swansea West and bedfellow of Meri Huws, who previously faced allegations that his Ugandan discussions with Meri had been responsible for Meri landing the job as Chair of the Welsh Language Board (see post ‘People With Energy’).

As for Win, he then moved on to become Chair of WCVA – so he’s the one who is overseeing the waste of public funds and the activities of the paedophiles’ friends that is the Third sector in Wales.

Pre-devolution, Ron was big pals – and dined regularly – with Dafydd Wigley and Richard Livsey, as a group of ‘pro-devolution leaders’. Rhodri comments that Ron provided ‘really good leadership’ to this group.

Richard Livsey was the Lib Dem MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, 1985-92 and 1997-01 and was Leader of the Welsh Lib Dems, 1997-01. Livsey was an agriculturalist who after his death was described by everyone as a ‘gentleman’. His time in the Liberal Party stretched back to 1960 and he tried for a seat in the Commons in 1970 and in 1979. Livsey will have known about Jeremy Thorpe and Cyril Smith.

Livsey was close friends with Geraint Howells – Howells was his mentor. Geraint Howells was one of those who signed the Early Day Motion in 1992 demanding an investigation into the case of Mary Wynch. Like everybody else who signed that EDM – except for David Bellotti – Howells then never mentioned Mary again and received a peerage. The only one of those who’s name was on the EDM who did not bag a peerage was David Bellotti who tabled the EDM. David Bellotti lost his seat soon after tabling the EDM and was never returned to Parliament. Geraint lost his seat too, unexpectedly, as a result of a very dirty deal on the part of Plaid and the Green Party, but he escaped to the Upper House (see post ‘A Few Of The Relevant Politicians Re Mary Wynch’s Case’).

When Livsey stood down as Leader of the Welsh Lib Dems in 2001 – after the Waterhouse Report had been published and difficult questions had been, temporarily at least, silenced, Livsey was given a peerage.

Ron Davies also had an ‘excellent working relationship’ with Rachel Lomax, the Permanent Secretary at the Welsh Office, 1996-99. Rachel Lomax oversaw the setting up of the Welsh Assembly. She arrived in the Welsh Office just in time for the establishment of the Waterhouse Inquiry as well.

William Hague – the Secretary of State for Wales at the time – must have really wanted Rachel because she was an economist who was recalled to the Welsh Office from the World Bank, where she was a Vice-President and Chief of Staff to President of the World Bank.

Lomax went to Cheltenham Ladies College, then Girton College, Cambridge and then to the LSE. After she left the LSE in 1968 she joined the Treasury. She was Principal Private Secretary to Nigel Lawson, 1985-86, whilst Lawson was Chancellor, then a Deputy Secretary at the Treasury, then Deputy Chief Economic Advisor, 1990-94. In 1994-95 Lomax was head of the Economic and Domestic Secretariat at the Cabinet Office.

Rachel has certain been where the action is. Sir Peter Morrison was Lord Commissioner of the Treasury, 1979-81, so she’ll have known him and like everyone else who worked with him will have heard about him molesting children in care in north Wales, Cheshire and London. It was while Sir Peter Morrison was Lord Commissioner of the Treasury that Dafydd unlawfully had Mary Wynch arrested, imprisoned in Risley Remand Centre and then unlawfully imprisoned for a year in Denbigh. Rachel Lomax touched Mary Wynch’s life again in 1994. In 1994 it was the Treasury solicitor who finally ruined Mary (see post ‘The Mary Wynch Case – Details’).

Mary was far too old for Peter Morrison to have been interested in her and she was female anyway, but as well as knowing that at least one person had almost certainly been murdered whilst in the care of one of Dafydd’s nursing homes and that a group of local lawyers were collaborating together to fleece their clients, Mary also witnessed the preparation of young patients in the North Wales Hospital for their futures in the sex industry. Dafydd had given instructions that the patients on the young people’s ward should be encouraged to have sex with each other and the Angels would gather around to watch the show.

By the time that Rachel Lomax had arrived at the Welsh Office to organise the cover-up, Peter Morrison was safely dead and buried.

Rhodri’s book explains a rather dodgy deal that Rachel facilitated for Ron in 1998. The HQ of the interim Assembly was located at Crickhowell House in Cardiff. The rent on Crickhowell House was kept low provided that the future Assembly committed to a new HQ on the adjoining site. The landlord of the whole area was the ABP (Associated British Ports) property subsidiary Grosvenor Waterside. The ABP could then recover their loss on the low rent through the enhanced capital values on the land surrounding the new Assembly building. Rhodri thought that it was most unsavoury that such a corrupt deal underpinned the building housing the Assembly from the very beginning. For details of the other massive scams involving ABP and the development of Cardiff Bay, see post ‘Corruption Bay Special’).

Honest Rhodri never wanted the Assembly to be located in Cardiff Bay anyway – he wanted it to be in Cardiff City Hall, next to Cathays Park where the civil servants worked. The corrupt civil servants, who had spent decades concealing the criminality involving Dafydd and the paedophiles. Numerous documents among those detailing the criminality and cover-ups in my possession have the Cathays Park Welsh Office address on them, including some of those that I am fairly sure are forged (see post ‘Possible Discovery Of More Forged Or Amended Documents’). I will be blogging more about those documents soon.

Rhodri himself had an office in Cathays Park as well and it was the traditional home of the Secretary of State for Wales. Rhodri explains that it was really great working in Cathays Park because everybody was there and you could just pop along to see whoever you needed to. That’s right Rhodri, the office of the corrupt Medical Ombudsman was there, as was the office of the corrupt Welsh Office lawyer Andrew Park, then in later years the corrupt Public Services Ombudsman and of course the corrupt Social Services Inspectorate was there as well. Just to tie everything up nicely, the office of the corrupt Mental Health Tribunal was also situated in Cathays Park. Everything conveniently located on one site!

Not only did the corrupt Secretaries of State have an office in Cathays Park, but they even had an apartment there, so they could live on campus among the crooks. The apartment was originally created from a few offices for the use of Nicholas Edwards and his wife Ankaret. Old Nick and his wife made good use of the flat between 1979-87, as did Peter Walker (1987-90) and David Hunt (1990-93) and (1995). However John Redwood (1993-95) didn’t use the flat, he insisted on returning to his place in Wokingham to sleep.

No wonder there was havoc in Wales whilst Redwood was Secretary of State and everyone was desperate to see the back of him – him not living above the shop must have profoundly disrupted the smooth operation of the corrupt machine. On the other hand I’m sure that David Hunt, the man who assisted with so much of the most serious wrongdoing of the paedophiles’ friends during his long and glorious career (see post ‘The Paedophiles’ Friend Of Cardiff North’) found that flat very useful for the days between 26 June 1995-5 July 1995, when Hunt returned to his old job as Secretary of State for Wales in what must have been for the shortest length of time that anyone has ever occupied a senior Gov’t position. It was during those heady risk-laden days when the knotty problem of the ‘retirement’ of Dafydd – a retirement which never was – and the ‘closure’ of the North Wales Hospital took place. Not that the North Wales Hospital did close, although everyone was told that it did. Part of it stayed open in secret.

Get digging out there at Denbigh, I know that old Hunt will have pushed the boat out in the summer of 1995 and probably got hardly any sleep at all what with all those civil servants running in and out of his flat screaming ‘but how are we going to explain the human remains if we close the bloody place down and someone turns it into luxury apartments???’, but Hunt deserves to be exposed before he joins the rest of the paedophiles’ friends who are dropping dead on an almost daily basis…

Rachel Lomax was one of those who scarpered after Ron’s downfall at the hands of Boogie – she resigned from her post as the Welsh Office and in Dec 1998 took up the role of Permanent Secretary at the DHSS. Rhodri observed that just before Ron hit disaster Rachel Lomax had purchased a new house for herself in the Vale of Glamorgan and such was Lomax’s loyalty to her home nation that she kept her home in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Lomax left the DHSS/DWP in 2002 and then served as Permanent Secretary at the  Dept of Transport, having moved there with her Secretary of State Alistair Darling when Blair reshuffled his Cabinet following the resignation of the Secretary of State for Transport Stephen Byers, he who subsequently described himself as a ‘cab for hire’ in a lobbying scandal and was banned from Parliament for two years (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part IV’).

From 2003-08 Lomax was a Deputy Governor at the Bank of England, serving on its Monetary Policy Committee. She left just before the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2008 to ‘pursue other interests’. In Dec 2008, Lomax became an independent non-executive Director of HSBC Holdings, where she was also a member of the audit and risk committees. In Dec 2010 Lomax joined BAA (now Heathrow Airport Holdings) as a non-executive Director. Rachel is also a non-executive director of Serco and a trustee of Imperial College London (see post ‘I Don’t Believe It!’ for the details of the research fraud and misconduct on the part of those who have worked or are still working at Imperial) and has served as President of the Institute of Fiscal Studies.

There is another person who could tell us all a great deal about Ron and a lot of other people as well but he seems to have kept a very discreet silence – a man called Les who is a former Cardiff taxi driver. After ferrying the general public around Cardiff, Les worked as the official driver for that very good friend of the paedophiles of north Wales Lord Wyn Roberts, then as the official driver for Ron and then as the official driver for Rhodri. Les could give us the best anecdote ever in terms of who he had in the back of the cab…

Lest anyone think that I have a problem with Ron and others mentioned on this blog because they are gay and I am conflating gay men with child abusers, I don’t and I’m not. The problem that I have tried to highlight on this blog is that a number of the people discussed have used prostitutes – male and female – who were coerced into that business whilst they were kids in care and to coerce them into sex work those kids were subjected to very great cruelty at the hands of serious criminals. If sex workers are consenting adults who have not been coerced into that work I don’t consider what they are doing or who their customers are to be anyone else’s business. Despite some of the scare stories, the best research into sex work has shown that there is a contingent of prostitutes who are adults with agency, fully in control and who conduct business discreetly and safely. Many of them have actually worked as nurses and furthermore prostitution among nurses is a good deal more common than anyone likes to admit. Sadly there are also people who have been forced into prostitution – ironically by the sort of nurses who worked for Dafydd – and who most definitely need protecting and rescuing.

The people discussed on this blog do not have track records of being honest and transparent and they all try to portray themselves as having only ever conducted relationships with consenting adults, even when that most definitely is not true. Ron may have become notorious for cottaging at the Castle Gate or for picking up Boogie on Clapham Common, but before he became an MP Ron was an advisor for Mid-Glamorgan Education Authority whilst everybody in Mid-Glamorgan Education Authority ignored serious complaints about drama teacher John Owen sexually abusing his pupils (see post ‘Yet More Inglorious Bastards’).

In north Wales there was a Mafia code of silence regarding the activities of the paedophile gang – partly because some people were terrified of them but partly because everybody was covering the arses of their friends and relatives and that technique was also used to secure themselves jobs, promotions and, in later life, pensions.

Consider just this alone. Ron worked as a tutor-organiser for the WEA, taking over from Neil Kinnock in 1970 when the Windbag was elected to Parliament. Rhodri Morgan also worked for the WEA in south Wales, 1963-65. When they were young, Rhodri and the Windbag shared a house. Rhodri and the Windbag spent many enjoyable years campaigning together. Wayne David, who succeeded Ron as Labour MP for Caerphilly, also worked for the WEA in south Wales, starting in that role in 1985. Like Ron, Wayne was a teacher who trained at Cardiff University. I could continue…

Were any of this lot, a bunch of not very bright people who scraped their way into universities – usually in south Wales – and somewhere along the way developed a massive sense of entitlement and fancied themselves as Cabinet Ministers or even PMs, ever going to grass each other up? They saw the way that many other people in Wales lived and that was certainly not for them. No matter how many of them banged on about the forefathers going down the pit, most of them had never got their hands dirty themselves. Glenys Kinnock has never been near a pit in her life, she lives a millionaire’s life between London and Europe and her daughter-in-law is PM of Denmark. Pretty good for a school teacher from Holyhead whose home town suffers from severe disadvantage and was host to a paedophile gang. Never mind the Castle Gate, Ron Davies could probably have gone cottaging in the middle of John Lewis’s in Cardiff on a Saturday afternoon and no-one would have said a word.

Alun Davies, the corrupt NHS manager in north Wales who constantly tried to have me imprisoned, didn’t come from north Wales. Davies was from the Rhondda…

Ron’s wife – now ex-wife – Christina Rees, the Labour MP for Neath, is a barrister. Her wiki entry is incredibly brief and talks about her school days and love of sport.

‘We didn’t know.’

After Ron fell from grace on Clapham Common a few people from south Wales who didn’t have ambitions to become PM but who didn’t dare identify themselves in the press, admitted that they did know, that indeed ‘everyone knew’ about Ron and furthermore that he was a vindictive aggressive bastard whom a lot of people didn’t dare cross.

Ron resigned as Secretary of State for Wales after Boogie, but he didn’t resign as an MP. In fact Ron put up quite a fight. His first strategy was to make a speech in the House about the violence that he had suffered at the hands of his father as a child. Which is sad but Ron is by no means alone in having had that happen to him. This was followed by Ron coming out as bisexual. Then Ron claimed to have some interesting psychiatric problem which involved him seeking out ‘risky situations’ – for which he was of course ‘receiving help’.

If Ron was paying good money to attend Dafydd’s sex therapy clinic it wasn’t very effective because in 2003 Ron was caught in another risky situation in a well known cruising and dogging spot. Ron’s story was that he was looking for badgers.

At no point did Ron simply say ‘I’m gay, now sod off because it’s no-one else’s business but mine’.

It was after he was photographed looking for badgers that Ron stepped down as MP for Caerphilly. However, Rhodri’s book explains that Ron did not go quietly.

It was the Chairman of the Party, Brian Curtis, who was left to ensure that the Labour Party divested itself of Ron by persuading Ron to pull out of the candidacy for Caerphilly before the 2003 General Election election. Ron had recently bought an expensive house on a mortgage and he refused to stand down unless his PPI to cover his mortgage payments could be activated. Rhodri states that  Jessica Morden, the General Secretary of the Labour Party, was ‘unhappy’ about providing the letter of cover to Ron’s bank – Ron needed a letter saying that he’d been forced to resign his candidacy to prevent accusations from the bank that he’d voluntarily left his job. Ron only stood down once he knew that the insurance on his mortgage was secured.

Rhodri tells us that ‘Jessica did what she had to do because it was absolutely necessary in the reputational interest of the Labour Party’.

Rhodri believing that this was sufficient to save the reputation of the Labour Party reminds me of a document that the former Chair of the North West Wales NHS Trust Elfed Roberts wrote when he got wind of Edwina Hart’s plan to abolish the Trust. Elfed memorably wrote that ‘the Trust must be seen to be beyond reproach at this crucial time’. How did Elfed and his colleague Martin Jones the CEO of the Trust ensure that the Trust was seen to be ‘beyond reproach’ at that crucial time? Well in the face of the rising toll of patient and staff suicides, Elfed and Martin refused to investigate any patient complaints, sent an extract from my medical records to a senior member of staff in Bangor University, rang various other colleagues of mine and told them that I was dangerous, intimidated a number of people who had witnessed what was happening to me and who had made statements about it and then had me arrested on the grounds that I had pink hair and had laughed at Elfed’s car and called it a penismobile.

Elfed and Martin seemed unaware that they had become famous as a result of their attempts to be seen to be beyond reproach at a crucial time. No wonder that Edwina carried out her plan to abolish them. Then Edwina stood for the leadership of the Labour Party in Wales and during the leadership debates the topic of anti-social behaviour was discussed. A lady in the audience asked how the candidates were going to tackle anti-social behaviour among young people. Edwina responded by saying that it wasn’t only young people who were capable of anti-social behaviour. I and the person whom I was watching this with were howling with laughter because we suspected that Edwina might have well have been thinking of two particularly unhinged NHS senior managers in north west Wales…

What Rhodri doesn’t explain is what Ron Davies was doing buying an expensive house on a mortgage when he knew that everyone was trying to get rid of him – and why did Ron bother to buy PPI, everyone knew by then that the buggers never pay up. Was Ron expecting perhaps to not only be in need of PPI but confident that he would be able to get them to cough up?

What happened to Jessica, who just did what she had to do? (Dafydd used to say that on the rare occasions that he was actually put on the spot and asked why he had broken the law. ‘I just did what I had to do’ would always be accompanied with Dafydd’s claim that ‘I found myself in this bizarre situation’. Yes, with a load of abducted victims of a paedophile ring imprisoned in a dungeon at the North Wales Hospital…)

Jessica Morden was well rewarded for doing what she had to do to save the reputation of the Labour Party ie. ensure that Ron bagged an expensive house in return for not standing again as the Labour MP for Caerphilly. Jessica was accepted as the Labour candidate for Newport East and became the MP for that constituency in 2005. Jessica was selected by the use of an all woman shortlist. No-one could accuse Blair of parachuting Jessica into south Wales though. Not only had Jessica been the General Secretary of Welsh Labour, but in 1991 she worked for Huw Edwards, Labour MP for Monmouth and she then worked for Llew Smith, Labour MP for Blaenau Gwent, 1992-95.

So Jessica had been around quite long enough to not know about Ron cottaging at the Castle Gate.

Llew Smith was also elected as the MEP for South Wales East in 1984. He stood down in 1994 – and made way for one Glenys Kinnock!

Huw Edwards succeeded the Monmouth seat from the Tory MP Sir John Stradling Thomas after Sir John was found dead in his Dolphin Square flat. Readers who follow the comments section of my blog will remember how often Richard Card has commented on the death of Sir John. Sir John had been expressing concern about the allegations of Westminster figures being involved in child abuse and was believed to be about to speak publicly and possibly name some of those alleged to be involved. He was found dead hours before he was due to speak.

Children trafficked for sex from the Ty’r Felin children’s home in Bangor were taken to Dolphin Square (see post ‘Are You Local?’). One of the community social workers employed on the Maesgeirchan estate on which Ty’r Felin was located was Meri Huws – Meri is alleged to be a former bedfellow of Rhodri Morgan (see post ‘People With Energy’).

Jessica got her chance at Newport East after Alan Howarth, the sitting MP, was elevated to the Lords by Blair. Howarth became famous when he crossed the floor. He was the Tory MP for Stratford-upon-Avon, after being elected in 1983. In 1995 he defected to Labour, was selected for Newport East and subsequently became a Minister in Blair’s Gov’t. Howarth was dropped from the Gov’t in 2001, after the Waterhouse Report had been published and the claims that it was a massive cover-up had been silenced, at least temporarily.

Howarth was an unlikely defector to New Labour. He had been a hard right Tory, a founder member of the Thatcherite No Turning Back group. Early in his career, Howarth had worked in the Conservative Party Chairman’s office under Willie Whitelaw – who spent many years in many capacities concealing the abuse of children and mental health patients in north Wales. Then Howarth became Director of the Conservative Research Department and Party Vice-Chairman. Matthew Parris used to work in the Conservative Research Department and claimed that there was a senior member of staff there who used to go cruising for young men on London buses. Parris also maintained that every summer, a group of male staff from that Dept would take a holiday at a place in Italy known as the ‘Villa of Shame’ where they were supplied with ‘boys who were always willing’.

What possible use could Blair have made of Howarth in 1995 when Howarth defected – whilst demands for a public inquiry into the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal had been followed by Nicola Davies QC reviewing the paperwork to see whether a public inquiry should be held? Nicola found that the paperwork of the North Wales Police relating to the abuse of children was missing from 1989 onwards. There’s a surprise.

Howarth crossed the floor on 8 Oct 1995. Peter Morrison had been conveniently found dead three months before and now Nicola Davies QC and Secretary of State for Wales William Hague just had to work out how to rig the Public Inquiry into the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal that people were demanding.

On the eve of the 1997 General Election the Labour MP for Ogmore, 1979-01, Sir Ray Powell told an interesting tale about two of his Blairite colleagues. He alleged that Mandelson and Ron Davies offered him a peerage if he gave up his seat in the Commons for Alan Howarth, the Conservative who had crossed the floor to join the Labour Party (see post ‘News From Sicily’)…

The political career of Ron Davies didn’t finish once he’d secured his upmarket house.  In 2004 he resigned from the Labour Party claiming that they were all a bit incompetent in the Welsh Labour Party. Ron then joined the new Forward Wales Party and stood for election as an MEP. In 2007 he stood for election to the Assembly – as an Independent – for Caerphilly. In 2008 Ron was back on Caerphilly County Borough Council – where he had begun his career decades previously. He held the Economic Development and Urban Regeneration portfolio, originally as an Independent but later actively supported the ruling Plaid group on the Council. In recent years there has been an ongoing scandal at Caerphilly County Borough Council involving financial mismanagement on a huge scale. There has been a criminal investigation which found serious wrongdoing but it was decided to proceed no further with the investigation because of the cost of the investigation. So it rather looks as though some of Ron’s colleagues have made off with hundreds of thousands of pounds of public money and they will not be held to account.

Ron joined Plaid in 2010 and has since stood as a Plaid candidate in three elections.

Rhodri explained in his memoir that he was sympathetic to politicians who stood accused of involvement in sex scandals as a result of his own experience. At one time a ‘Top Welsh Tory’ put it around that Rhodri had been cautioned for picking up prostitutes in the Cardiff docks area. A full apology to Rhodri was issued and a donation to charity was made after Rhodri approached the Tory Party Chairman at the time for help. That Chairman was Dr Brian Mawhinney, now Lord Mawhinney.

Mawhinney was a Tory MP, 1979-05 and concealed the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the paedophiles whilst he was Minister of State for Health, 1992-94. Mawhinney was PPS to Tom King, 1984-86, whilst King was Secretary of State for NI and then held Ministerial positions in the N Ireland Office between 1986-92. So Mawhinney knows all about Kincora.

Mawhinney’s brother Richard is a lawyer who is married to Patricia Scotland QC. Patsy’s big break was representing the Welsh Office at the Waterhouse Inquiry – she was given a peerage during the Inquiry. Patsy never looked back, she has gone from high office to high office, despite being embroiled in scandal and dogged by allegations of improper conduct wherever she goes. When Patsy was given the brief for the Waterhouse Inquiry her brother-in-law Brian was a member of the Cabinet.

Details of Patsy’s network of paedophiles’ friends can be read in posts ‘Baroness Patricia Scotland QC Was On Board As Well!’, ‘More On Baroness Patricia Scotland QC – And Her Very Sleazy Friends’ and ‘Even More About Baroness Patricia Scotland QC’.

Brian Mawhinney was Chair of the Tory Party, 1995-97. Which was just when everyone was dealing with the very tricky problem of Dafydd, the paedophile gang, the demands for a public inquiry and then the setting up of the rigged Waterhouse Inquiry. Mawhinney became Chairman of the Party on the last day of David Hunt’s tenure as Secretary of State for Wales. Peter Morrison was found dead eight days later.

I would imagine that the Tories were in such deep shit during Mawhinney’s time as Chairman of the Party that they would be very vulnerable indeed to approaches by angry Labour politicians who claimed to have been the subject of baseless rumours circulated by the Tory Party. Mawhinney might have been so worried that he could have even resorted to apologising to Labour MPs who perhaps really had been cautioned for kerb crawling around Cardiff docks.

Rhodri stood accused at some point between 5 July 1995 – 11 June 1997. Which was when the patients in north Wales were being left destitute and dead after their day centre had been closed down and when such strenuous efforts were being made to have me banged up in a secure unit.

As for other news recently. Professor Nick Hardwick, the Chairman of the Parole Board (see post ‘Inside Information About A Hergest Unit Death’), has stated that if details are released about Top Doctors who serve on the Parole Board, the Top Doctors would be at risk of coming under attack on social media. Did Nick perhaps have in mind recent blog posts of mine in which I mentioned that Professor Robert Bluglass and Drs Colin Berry and David Mawson all served on the Parole Board after Bluglass and Berry actively concealed the criminality of Dafydd and the paedophiles and David Mawson just politely failed to mention it when faced with the evidence?

Southern Health have been fined £2 million after the HSE mounted a prosecution against them in the wake of the deaths of Connor Sparrowhawk and another patient. This is substantially the result of the efforts of Connor’s mum Dr Sara Ryan who has worked very hard since Connor’s death to expose massive failures at Southern as well as the deaths of hundreds of patients which were never investigated. Sara has been subjected to the usual that anyone complaining about serious failings in the NHS can expect – she was described as ‘toxic’ by the Top Doctor whose negligence and dishonesty resulted in Connor’s death, she received an anonymous insulting call from a member of staff at Southern, the son of a senior NHS manager sent out a tweet describing her as a ‘fucking pest’ and then she was insulted all over again when she gave evidence at a GMC fitness to practice hearing.

Sara feels a sense of satisfaction now. I am not underestimating what Sara has achieved, but no-one involved in Connor’s death – or indeed in the deaths of the hundreds of other patients who were slaughtered by Southern – have lost their jobs. They are all still practising. The £2 million fine will be paid by Southern from its vast budget of public money. It will be given to the British state’s coffers. It was the British state who allowed Southern to kill patients. I would not be surprised if as a result of being fined £2 million, Southern now put in a plea for some special source of extra money from the Gov’t on the grounds that they are short of cash. They’ll get it as well.

The statements made by Southern yesterday were cut n pasted from the usual NHS template. ‘We’ve failed’. ‘This will be a catalyst for change.’ Just like all the other deaths were going to be a catalyst for change. As indeed was the conviction of the mass murderer Harold Shipman. So that’s why no-one been struck off in the wake of the genocide at Southern.

There is only one thing that will be a catalyst for change in the NHS – people who have abused or killed their patients being escorted out of their offices in handcuffs and then put on trial.

That’s Entertainment

Readers might remember the popular police drama series on ITV that ran between 1984-2010, The Bill. In the 80s The Bill did have some good story lines which centred around some entertaining if stereotyped characters. There was June Ackland, a WPC who was good with female victims of crime, Reg Hollis who was the Sun Hill Police Station nerd and Burnside and Roach who were corrupt. Roach was a ladies man but Burnside didn’t have much patience with Birds. The weird – or perhaps as Dr Dafydd Alun Jones would say, ‘chilling’ – thing about The Bill was that two of the leading actors came unstuck in a big way in real life and a third one nearly did.

In May 1998 it was reported that Kevin Lloyd, the actor who played DC ‘Tosh’ Lines, had died after a drinking binge at the age of 49. The initial media reports portrayed Kevin Lloyd in a very negative light. It was stressed that he was an ‘overweight alcoholic’ who had neglected himself, that he was separated from his wife with whom he had seven children, that he had been violent to his wife on occasions and that the previous week he had been sacked from his job on The Bill after he turned up pissed and hadn’t learned his lines.

It soon became clear that the circumstances of Kevin’s death were very worrying. It was stated that he had been receiving treatment for alcoholism in a specialist rehab clinic, but had been refused  further treatment after he left the clinic and went out boozing in a pub. There were reports that he had begged to be readmitted to the clinic but this was refused. I took an interest in this, because there had been a number of deaths of Hergest Unit patients under such circumstances.

A different story emerged at the inquest in Oct 1998. Kevin had been a patient in the Dove Clinic in Rolleston, Staffordshire and had discharged himself on the morning of his death. Dorothy Tonks, an Angel at the Dove Clinic, told the inquest that the clinic had received a call from the landlady of a local pub saying that Kevin was trying to buy alcohol there. He then returned to the clinic ‘very drunk’ and ‘lay on his bed’. So they must have readmitted him. Tonks told the inquest that Kevin was ‘not fit to be left’, that he was very drunk and shouting and swearing. She also stated that Kevin had returned to the clinic with a bottle of whisky and a can of lager. It was stated at his inquest that when he died Kevin had been three times over the drink drive limit. Kevin had been put to bed in the ‘recovery position’ and was watched by two members of staff until about 4-40 pm. At that time, staff ‘were called away’ and it was decided that Kevin would be observed every 5 or 10 minutes. At 5 pm Kevin was found with vomit in his mouth and he was blue. Efforts were made to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful.

The inquest heard that Kevin had been prescribed a ‘cocktail of drugs’ to fight alcoholism and Dr David Green a pathologist explained that the drugs would have impaired Kevin’s level of consciousness and his reflexes, including his ability to cough up material blocking his airway.

Dr Pradheep Singhal of the Dove Clinic told the inquest that Mr Lloyd felt that he was a ‘prisoner’ and had ‘abused’ the staff. Dr Singhal said that he had met Kevin and refused to treat him because he would not abide by the clinic’s rules. It was after this that Kevin left the clinic and tried to buy alcohol in the pub.

South Staffordshire Coroner Reginald Browning recorded a verdict of misadventure and observed that ‘It is always tragic if anybody dies in circumstances such as these. It is even more poignant when that person is so talented. He crumpled under the burden of stress. He took to alcohol and in the end it killed him’.

Kevin had also been suffering from cirrhosis of the liver.

Kevin’s ex-wife told the inquest that when Kevin died he was ‘at his lowest ebb ever’. She had spoken to him the day before he died and had arranged to visit him the next week. His girlfriend attended the inquest and spoke of how Kevin drank when under stress, had tried to give up alcohol several times and had been ‘devastated’ after losing his job. Both women spoke fondly of him, expressing their deep sorrow. His children later spoke of their distress. Did anyone talk about a drunken violent git? No. What was mentioned after the inquest was that Kevin’s family were now seeking legal advice with a view to taking action against the clinic.

There was no mention anywhere of what it was that had caused Mr Lloyd such stress – his ex wife mentioned that they separated in the mid-1990s because of his drinking. That was before he was sacked – but something was distressing him which went unmentioned.

Kevin was born in Derby, the son of a police sergeant, Ellis Lloyd. Ellis was killed in 1970 when his car skidded off the road during an emergency call. Kevin trained to be a solicitor but switched career to acting and trained at the East 15 Acting School in Essex, 1970-1973. Off screen, Lloyd often talked of his happy family life although he and his wife lost one of their daughters from meningitis at 17 months. In 1991, despite already having six children, they adopted a Romanian girl. It was a surprise when the couple split up in 1995 after 22 years of marriage. The family home was in Derbyshire.

Kevin’s police officer father was originally from Betws-y-coed in Gwynedd, but had moved to Derbyshire by the time that Kevin was born in 1949. So Ellis Lloyd wasn’t in north Wales in the 1960s when Dr Dafydd Alun Jones first made an appearance at the North Wales Hospital, Denbigh. Kevin’s grandfather and one of his uncles were also police officers. The 1996 Jillings Report, which investigated the abuse of children in the care of Clwyd County Council since 1974, stated that there was evidence that the organised abuse of children in north Wales had stretched back decades – the horrors of the North Wales Hospital certainly did. The Jillings Investigation was Chaired by John Jillings, the former Director of Derbyshire Social Services. Jillings wrote such a damning report that it was heavily redacted and then pulped (see post ‘It’s A Piece Of Cake’). Some of those who had been named as abusers of children in north Wales had previously worked in Derbyshire and there were allegations that Jillings had not dared admit just how serious the abuse of children in Clwyd was, or the extent of it. Jillings refused to comment on whether he found evidence of a paedophile ring in operation.

The Jillings Report was witheld from everyone except for the lawyers and insurers acting for Clwyd County Council and then pulped on the advice of Michael Beloff QC, Counsel acting for the Council’s insurers. Beloff is a friend of the Blairs and was one of their guests at Chequers. A very heavily redacted version of the Jillings Report did become public in 2013. It transpired that someone had managed to preserve one copy when the order to pulp everything had been sent out 17 years previously. No-one except for the lawyers and insurers of the former Clwyd County Council has ever seen the full version.

I have discussed in previous posts the allegations and evidence suggesting that Freemasonry played a part in the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal and the constant cover-ups. I am currently reading an account of Masonic activity in the UK in the 1970s and 80s – I will be returning to this in detail in a future blog post – and it is alleged that north Wales was virtually controlled by Freemasons. Freemasonry may not have such influence now, but 30 years ago in regions like north Wales it was a major force in the police, local authorities and business. The other areas of the UK where Freemasonry exerted a particular stranglehold right into the 1980s included Derbyshire and Staffordshire. There was organised abuse of children in care in both Derbyshire and Staffordshire, which as in north Wales was facilitated and concealed by the Top Doctors and was known about by local and national politicians.

Kevin Lloyd’s father remained in touch with people in north Wales. He joined Derby Borough Police in the late 1940s, became a Sergeant in 1964 and was one of the police officers from Derby who attended the Investiture of Prince Charles at Caernarfon in 1969. The Investiture itself took place without incident – although on the eve of the Investiture two bombers were killed whilst placing a bomb outside a Gov’t office in Abergele – despite fears that Charles would be harmed by nationalist activists. Charles et al remaining unscathed was the factor that resulted in the promotion of Sir Philip Myers to the position of Chief Constable of North Wales in 1970. Sir Philip Myers presided over a high degree of police corruption in north Wales, corruption which continued during his time as one of HM Inspectors of Constabulary, 1982-93. Sir Philip was noticeably ineffective at curtailing the activities of Dafydd and the paedophiles (see post ‘Top Of The Cops’). This is not a surprise when one considers that Philip Myers went to school in Wrexham, grew up in Denbighshire, served in the Shropshire and then the West Mercia Police and was Deputy Chief Constable of Gwynedd Constabulary before becoming Chief Constable of North Wales. He had probably met every one of the paedophiles and their associates and shaken them by the hand.

The road accident in which Ellis Lloyd was killed occurred when Ellis’s car hit a lamp post in the early hours of the morning in wet weather in a hail storm when the roads were slippery, whilst he was answering a call to attend a burglary – which turned out to be a false alarm. An inquest returned a verdict of accidental death. Ellis had served in the CID in Derbyshire. His funeral was attended by many high ranking police officers.

I also note from Kevin’s CV that he worked in theatres and on productions at times and places when some of his colleagues were alleged to have been abusing children.

Kevin developed a serious drink problem during the years when there were investigations into child abuse in north Wales. At the time of his death, the Waterhouse Inquiry was in progress and had heard evidence from the witnesses, including former residents of the children’s homes who had been abused. By the time that Kevin died, victims of and witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal were dropping like lemmings.

Kevin’s widow sued the Dove Clinic for damages following his death.

In March 2003, six months before Kevin’s widow heard the decision regarding her action against the Dove Clinic, Kevin’s only sibling – his brother Terry – was killed.

Terry Lloyd was a war correspondent for ITN with nearly 20 years of experience in reporting from the Middle East. Lloyd’s colleagues were troubled by his death because they all maintained that he knew how not to put himself in danger, but nonetheless he was shot and killed in southern Iraq.

Terry began his career as a journalist with the Raymonds News Agency in Derby and went on to work for Central Television as a regional news reporter. He started at ITN in 1983 and in the mid-1980s was sent to Beirut. Terry reported from Halabja in 1988 and brought to world attention the effects of Saddam Hussein’s chemical warfare against the Kurds. In 1994, he reported on the discovery of mass graves in the former Yugoslavia which contained the remains of several hundred refugees who had disappeared from a local hospital. Terry reported on the plight of refugees in Bosnia  and was in Sarajevo at the time of the Nato air strikes.

In 50 years of ITN’s war reporting, Terry was the first staff reporter to have been killed.

The negligence case that Kevin’s widow had brought against the Dove Clinic was heard six months after Terry’s death at Nottingham Crown Court. On 19 Sept  2003, BBC News reported that Richard Burns, acting on behalf of Kevin’s widow, told the Court that nurses at the Dove Clinic stopped continuously checking Kevin 30 minutes before his death. Mr Burns said that ‘Had almost anything else been done other than putting him to bed in his room, he probably would have lived’, that the clinic had ‘a cavalier attitude’ to recording the checks on Kevin and had insufficient protocols regarding what to do in an emergency. He also stated that if clinics don’t have guidance on what to do in an emergency, they are likely to do what they did to Kevin – ‘leave them in their room to die’ rather than take them to hospital.

The Dove Clinic was owned by Speciality Care (Rehab) who denied negligence. Dominic Nolan, acting for the clinic, maintained that what was done by the nurses was of the ‘standard expected’ of them. Judge David Brunning reserved judgement for four weeks.

On 10 Dec 2003 – rather more than four weeks later – BBC News reported that David Brunning sitting at Nottingham County Court had rejected  the damages claim and had found ‘no fault’ with the treatment that Kevin had received. Brunning stated that Kevin’s death was ‘an accident’. Frank Cummins, Director of Speciality Care, said after the court case that their staff had cared for Kevin ‘professionally and with compassion’.

David Brunning came from Burton-Upon-Trent, a town near the Dove Clinic and was brought up in the Church of England. From the age of four he was very deeply involved in a church in Burton-Upon-Trent. In his late teens, before going to Oxford University, he  became involved with the Methodist Church and served as a lay preacher. Throughout his university years Brunning continued his involvement with the Methodist Church and preached in Staffordshire and in Oxfordshire. After he graduated David trained as a lawyer and in 1969 began working as a barrister in a Chambers in Leicester. He continued his involvement in the Methodist Church.

So David will have almost certainly have heard about the doings of Greville Janner and Frank Beck in Leicestershire and he will have known the child molester George Thomas who became Speaker of the House through the Methodist Church as well (see post ‘It Wasn’t On Our Radar’). In 1982 David became a Deputy Judge and in 1988 a full time Judge. In 1987 Dr James Earp, a senior forensic psychiatrist in Leicester, concealed the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the paedophiles of north Wales (see post ‘An Expert From England’). In the 1990s David Brunning returned to the Church of England and was once more a lay reader in the Church in Leicester. He retired as a judge in 2008.

Before he retired, one of the last cases that Brunning tried was that of a magistrate and his wife from Nottingham who appeared before him in Derby Crown Court charged with trying to avoid a speeding fine by swapping their car number plates and changing the appearance of their car. They couple admitted intending to pervert the course of justice, but Brunning was merciful and they avoided imprisonment. It was mentioned in the press reports that the magistrate – who was the registered keeper of the car – was a deputy churchwarden. So he almost certainly knew Judge Brunning.

David Brunning was a regular visitor to the island of Sark in the Channel Islands for 50 years and later on in his career he purchased a house on Sark, spending much time there. In 2014 he took up office in the Church of England in Sark, with the intention of dividing his time between parishes in Leicester and Sark.

Neither David Brunning or anyone else made any comments with regard to the misleading reports that found their way into the media immediately after Kevin Lloyd’s death or why a specialist rehab clinic had no knowledge of basic first aid or of the effect of the drugs which its medical staff had prescribed for Kevin on reflex actions.

At the time that Kevin died, Blair’s Gov’t knew – as did John Major’s Gov’t before them – that the NHS in Staffordshire was lethal and that hundreds of patients had died unnecessarily. When Kevin died Frank Dobson was Health Secretary – Dobson had remained quiet for years about the abuse and neglect of vulnerable kids in care and mental health patients (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part IV’). By the time that Kevin’s widow’s case was heard, the deaths at Mid-Staffs had run into thousands – between them Blair’s Health Secretaries Alan Johnson and Andy Burnham refused over 80 requests to hold a Public Inquiry into the matter. So although Kevin died in a private clinic, he may well not have been cared for any better if he had been taken to hospital. The remit of Health Secretary covers private as well as NHS provision.

On 13 Oct 2006, after conducting the inquest into Kevin’s brother Terry’s death, Assistant Deputy Coroner Andrew Walker returned a verdict of unlawful killing.

Terry, his two cameramen and an interpreter, had been caught in crossfire in Basra between US and Iraqi forces. Terry and his interpreter were both shot by US forces. The Royal Military Police (RMP) carried out an investigation and testified at Terry’s inquest that a videotape of the incident had been edited before it had been passed onto the British investigation – about 15 mins had been removed from the start of the recording. The RMP testified at the inquest that they were sent the tape ‘some months’ after the incident and were told by US authorities that the footage handed over was ‘everything that they had’.

The ITN team were driving cars clearly marked as press vehicles. They encountered an Iraqi convoy and American forces shot at the convoy. The wife of the one of the cameramen (who was missing presumed killed) received a letter from US authorities who denied being at the scene when the ITN News team was attacked. Terry was hit by an Iraqi bullet, an injury from which he could have recovered. He was put into a civilian minibus that had stopped to pick up casualties. US forces shot at the minibus after it had turned around to leave the area, killing Terry.

Andrew Walker recorded a verdict of unlawful killing by the US military and announced that he would write to the DPP to ask him to investigate the possibility of bringing charges. Walker formally cleared ITN of all blame and said that the US tanks had been first to open fire on the ITN vehicles. However he also stated that he was ‘unable to determine’ whether the bullets that killed Terry were fired by US ground forces or helicopters. Terry was killed as he was being carried away from the fighting in the civilian minibus. Walker said: ‘If the vehicle was perceived as a threat, it would have been fired on before…I have no doubt it was the fact that the vehicle stopped to pick up survivors that prompted the  Americans to fire on that vehicle’. The NUJ said that Terry’s killing was a war crime.

On 25 October 2006 Sir Menzies Campbell, Leader of the Lib Dems, raised the matter at PMQs. He asked ‘When may we expect the Attorney-General to make an application for the extradition and trial in Britain of those American soldiers against whom there is a  prima facie case for the unlawful killing in Iraq of the ITN journalist Terry Lloyd?’

On 19 March 2007, BBC reported that ITN released the names of the 16 US Marines in the unit involved in Terry’s death. The CPS decided in July 2008 that there was ‘insufficient evidence’ to prosecute Terry’s killers.

The DPP at the time was Lord Kenneth Macdonald. Our Ken was the first pupil barrister of Helena Kennedy – who was friends with and worked with Professor Nigel Eastman of St George’s Hospital Medical School (see post ‘Eve Was Framed – As Were A Lot Of Other People’) – who concealed the criminal activities of Dafydd and the paedophiles in north Wales (see post ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London’). In the late 1990s Ken co-founded Matrix Chambers with Cherie Booth and returned to work at Matrix when he retired as DPP in Oct 2008. In June 2010 Macdonald was made a Lib Dem peer, so that will have shut Ming Campbell up. In July 2010 Theresa May informed Parliament that she had asked Macdonald to oversee a Gov’t review of counter-terrorism and security powers. For more background on Macdonald, see post ‘A Future Leader Of The Labour Party’).

Between them, Kevin and Terry Lloyd had a great deal of knowledge about organised child abuse associated with serious crime which was concealed at the highest levels of Gov’t over many years, as well as of war crimes which constituted an embarrassment to a number of Gov’ts and Prime Ministers and the subsequent lies that were told.

There were lies told concerning the circumstances of the deaths of both Kevin and Terry and after these lies were exposed and legal redress was sought, senior legal professionals employed by the British state simply brought an end to proceedings. Kevin died when Blair was PM and the negligence claim against the Dove Clinic was thrown out whilst Blair was still PM and Charlie Falconer was Lord Chancellor. Terry died whilst Blair was PM during an illegal war which Blair had launched and about which lies were told constantly – including by Blair to Parliament. Although Gordon Brown was PM when the DPP refused to prosecute those responsible for Terry’s death, that DPP had been appointed by Blair and was a personal friend of the Blairs as well as Cherie’s business partner.

Kevin was dead by the time that the Waterhouse Report was published and Terry the award winning journalist was dead by the time that the Chilcot Report was published – and of course Terry was dead by the time that the Dove Clinic was cleared of all responsibility for his brother’s death.

Thank goodness that Blair is a pretty straight kind of guy, or someone might suspect foul play.

This may be a complete coincidence, but the actor who played Reg Hollis in The Bill attempted suicide in 2008 and Colin Tarrant, the actor who played Inspector Monroe, was found dead with knife wounds in the bathroom of his Bristol home in Jan 2012.

My post ‘These Sharks Are Crap As Well’ discussed Sir Peter Morrison’s responsibility for oil whilst he was an Energy Minister, 1987-90 and what a risk Thatcher was taking giving this role to a man who was known by her and many others to be molesting children in care in north Wales, Cheshire and elsewhere. Whilst Peter Morrison was at Energy, the Gov’ts privatisation of BP went pear shaped as a result of Black Monday. Despite a paedophile being appointed as the Minister responsible and the stock market crash causing havoc for the BP shares sale, the career of Lord John Browne really took off during that period of time, as I explained.

The Permanent Secretary for the Department of Energy, 1985-89, was Sir Peter Gregson. Like everyone else who worked with Morrison, Gregson will have heard that Morrison was abusing children. When Gregson left Energy, he was Permanent Secretary for the DTI until he retired in 1996 – the year after Morrison was found dead and the year that William Hague announced the Waterhouse Inquiry.

Gregson was born in Yorkshire but moved to Nottingham when he was eleven and went to Nottingham High School and then to Balliol College, Oxford. After graduation he served in the British Army and then in 1961 he joined the civil service, the Board of Trade to be precise, where he helped negotiate Britain’s unsuccessful bid to join the Common Market under Harold Macmillan.

By 1968 Gregson was working at Downing Street. He was Harold Wilson’s Private Secretary for economic affairs and drafted replies for PMQs. Gregson also had responsibility for N Ireland. Then he was Private Secretary for all economic and home affairs under Edward Heath and gave advice as Heath’s Gov’t faced industrial action. So Gregson will have known about the corruption that Harold Wilson was reputed to have been involved with, as well as the high level cover-ups in the early 1970s of the abuse of boys at Kincora in Belfast and at Bryn Estyn.

When Labour returned to office in 1974 Gregson found himself working for Tony Benn at the Dept of Industry and responsible for organising the creation of the National Enterprise Board. After a number of other posts, in 1981 Gregson returned as Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Office, in response to a specific request from Thatcher.

In May 1985 Gregson was appointed Permanent Secretary of the Department of Energy. His relationship with the Secretary of State, Peter Walker, was not close but they did conclude the successful privatisation of the British Gas Corporation. The 1986 sale of shares was very heavily promoted as yet another bonanza for people who wanted to get rick quickly and in line with Thatcher’s notion of converting the labouring classes to the joys of capitalism. The adverts referred to a fictional character named ‘Sid’ – obviously what Saatchi and Saatchi imagined working class people were most likely to be called. As opposed to ‘Lord St John of Fawsley’ or ‘Alexander Patrick Greysteil Ruthven, 2nd Earl of Gowrie aka Grey Gowrie’ for example. The decision to build Sizewell B nuclear power station was made whilst Gregson was at Energy.

After Peter Walker had served as Energy Secretary, he was then Secretary of State for Wales, June 1987-May 1990 – just as Sir Peter Morrison moved to the post of Minister of State for Energy. So whilst Morrison held that crucial role, it was Walker who presided over the Welsh Office, as Alison Taylor, Mary Wynch and I did all we could to raise concerns about the criminal activities of Dafydd et al but were harassed and threatened. Walker was in post whilst children’s homes in north Wales were not even inspected although there were complaints of serious abuse and whilst I was arrested on ludicrous charges with the collusion of the Home Office and the Mental Health Act Commission (see post ‘Security, Security’). The victims of the paedophile gang were imprisoned in Dafydd’s dungeon and complaints about children’s homes and the mental health services were simply never investigated.

Whilst Walker was Secretary of State the medical records of mental health patients were fabricated. ‘Assessments’ of patients were written by Top Doctors and Angels who had never met the patient in question and discharge dates were entered upon patients records that were many weeks away from when the patient had been discharged – it wasn’t a matter of a day or two which could have just been a slip up. When one bears in mind how many children in care and psych patients in north Wales were being found dead or simply disappearing off the face of the earth, this fabrication of patients’ records is even more worrying. The worst scenario – patient is kept in the dungeon or dies but their records state that they were discharged and there’s the discharge note signed by the discharging Top Doctor. I have in my bundle of documents a full written assessment of me by a senior Angel whom I never met and who was never on duty in Bryn Golau Ward whilst I was in there. I also have a document stating that I was discharged from Denbigh on a date when I was actually in London and had been in London for the past three weeks. But there’s the discharge note, signed by a Top Doctor whom I had never met, saying that on the date that I left Denbigh – I was sitting in a lecture in Hammersmith Hospital on the date in question – I was suffering from schizophrenia no less. As opposed to having been abducted by a sex trafficking ring who subsequently fabricated a load of documentation about me.

In 1987 Cecil Parkinson succeeded Walker as Energy Secretary and Parkinson was keen to privatise the electricity industry. It was Gregson who advised that the CEGB should be broken up in order to permit a competitive market in electricity generation, despite the warnings of Lord Walter Marshall, the Chairman of the CGEB, regarding the risks of continuity of supply.

Gregson joined the Board of Scottish Power as a Senior Independent Director and served until 2004.

In June 1991, the Chairman of British Gas plc Robert Evans sparked controversy by accepting a pay rise of 66%, ten times above the rate of inflation at the time. This took his salary from £222,000 to £370,000, followed allegations of greed against the organisation a month earlier when it reported a 42% rise in pre-tax profits. So Robert Evans did rather better out of it all than Sid.

Gregson’s 2015 Guardian obituary explained that in his capacity as Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Office he played a pivotal role advising Thatcher in handling the 1984 miners’ strike. Thatcher asked Gregson to prepare for the confrontation with the NUM and he Chaired a secret Cabinet committee of senior civil servants. Thatcher’s Gov’t always maintained that they did not wish to have a confrontation with the NUM, but Gregson’s role Chairing this committee demonstrated that they planned for a clash with the NUM at least one year  before the strike, which does add weight to the belief that Thatcher wanted to get Scargill and the NUM for political reasons and as payback for bringing the Tory Gov’t of 1970-74 down. Before the first miners went on strike in 1984, the committee had made sure there was a huge stockpile of coal for the power stations and looked into building new oil- or gas-fired power stations. The Whitehall catchphrase ‘endurance’, which was used to describe how Government could withstand the onslaught of the miners’ strike, also came from this committee. Gregson’s contemporaries say he plunged himself into the work and acquired a comprehensive knowledge of the workings of the power industry. From then on Thatcher relied on Gregson’s advice to conduct the strike both in terms of taking precautions and in not overreacting.

Papers released from the National Archives detailed in the Guardian in Jan 2014 give an idea of Gregson’s role and some of what was happening behind the scenes at the time. Thatcher had contingency plans to use the Army during the miners’ strike and sought the advice of the Attorney General Sir Michael Havers as to whether she could call a state of emergency for political purposes. Havers had a long and glorious tradition of failing to prosecute Westminster and Whitehall figures for sex offences. Norman Tebbit wanted to take out High Court injunctions against the NUR and Aslef because they were hampering the transport of coke and coal supplies to the power stations.

Tebbit was Secretary of State for Trade during the miners’ strike. Following that, he was Chairman of the Conservative Party, 1985-87. For nearly a year, Sir Peter Morrison was his Deputy Chairman. Tebbit has since admitted that perhaps the Tories should have taken the concerns that some politicians were sexually abusing children more seriously. I think that Tebbit took those concerns very seriously indeed at the time, because whilst he was Party Chairman, I was threatened, harassed, unlawfully arrested and imprisoned in the North Wales Hospital – along with a number of victims of the paedophile gang of which Morrison was a member – and then subjected to an attempt to frame me for ‘attempting to stab a doctor’ (see post ‘Workers Play Time’).

So what have you got to say about the witnesses who were found dead then Tebbit?

In July 1984 the dockers joined the strike which shook that Gov’t. Gregson advised that they needed to end the dock strike as soon as possible because he knew that once the dockers walked out, ‘serious disruption to industry will soon be felt’. Gregson maintained that if the dock dispute could be ended quickly, the ‘coal dispute can be played as long as possible’.

In Oct 1984 NACODS the Pit Deputies Union threatened a strike ballot – the Gov’t knew that if NACODS joined the strike, power cuts would follow along with a three days week and a total shutdown of industry could well result. Tebbit expressed fears that if that happened the Gov’t would be brought down. NACODS did ballot in favour of striking, but then called off the strike and the Gov’ts ‘daily coal report’ dated 24 Oct mentioned that this ‘represents a massive blow for Scargill’. I need to do a bit of research into why NACODS called that strike off…

The Tories were quite obsessed with Arthur Scargill. The first politician whom I approached about the wrongdoing of the paedophiles’ friends was Keith Best, the MP for Ynys Mon, in the summer of 1985 – I didn’t know at the time that Best was one of the people in the Welsh Office who were concealing the criminal activities of Dafydd and the paedophiles (see post ‘The Cradle Of Filth’). When I was waiting to see Best at his surgery, I sat opposite a poster saying ‘The Tory Cuts – Arthur Scargill, Down To Size’.

Arthur Scargill and his mate Michael Mansfield, as well as many others on the left, remained silent about the same gang of paedophiles that Best was concealing (see post ‘Workers Play Time’).

The Cabinet papers released from the National Archive also contained details referring to the violence at the Orgreave coking plant in South Yorkshire in June 1984, when pickets were violently attacked by the police who then fitted the pickets up for assault. It was recently admitted that the police officers who fabricated evidence in the wake of Orgreave were from the same force – South Yorkshire – as those who fabricated statements after the Hillsborough disaster in 1989. In June 1984 Peter Wright was the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire – if north Wales wasn’t Paedophilia Central, then South Yorkshire was. South Yorkshire covered Rotherham, where, as in north Wales, the problem of every state agency colluding with the organised abuse of children and teenagers has never been effectively dealt with despite all the empowerment and the zero tolerance. Peter Wright grew up in Cheshire, served in the Greater Manchester Police and was then Deputy Chief Constable of Merseyside. So he was mates with Dafydd and the paedophiles as well then. Wright served as President of the ACPO.

The papers released from the National Archives showed that senior Home Officials believed that the Metropolitan Police units sent to picket lines were ‘valued in violent confrontations’. These were the units whose members were notorious for removing their numbers from their uniforms and covering their faces with their visors before they gave the strikers and pickets a kicking and when they were being friendly waved wads of dosh at the strikers to remind them that the police were raking in the overtime whilst the miners were living on food parcels and offerings from soup kitchens. Whilst the Home Office was deploying thugs from the Met to beat up the miners, the Met was riddled with corruption and was turning a blind eye to the trafficking of children in care in the Boroughs of Islington, Lambeth and Richmond-Upon-Thames.

Meanwhile under Leon Brittan the Home Office was complicit with much serious wrongdoing including the concealing of child abuse and even managed to provide funding for the Albany Trust, an organisation campaigning for paedophiles’ rights.

In Aug 1984 the Association of Chief Police Officers told Thatch that the miners, ‘frustrated by the failure of mass picketing, were taking to ‘geurrilla warfare’, based on the intimidation of individuals and companies’. As opposed to Thatcher’s Gov’t, who were intimidating those witness to the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the paedophiles.

The released papers from the National Archives also give an indication of the propaganda battle that was being fought on the part of Thatcher’s Gov’t. The papers admit that the much publicised ‘return to work’ of the miners during the first months of the strike was actually only a trickle. I had some idea of the Lord Haw Haw bit played by the pro-Thatcher media because at the time Brown was working on a project concerning the media portrayal of the strike and told me many interesting anecdotes after he’d conducted fieldwork in Yorkshire. In fact Dr D.G.E. Wood always felt very obviously threatened by Brown’s habit of publishing material about the skulduggery of the establishment. A red under the bed! As opposed to a paedophile in the bed. Or indeed in the children’s home eh Wood?

The NHS is currently employing the tactics exposed many years ago by those other reds under the bed, the Glasgow Media Group ie. Howard Davis, Greg Philo et al. Davis et al explained how when reporting on industrial disputes, the media news reports used to say things like ‘the management requests’ but ‘the unions demand’. Indeed during the NUM strike, BBC news used to juxtapose footage of Ian McGregor sitting in a chair saying quietly ‘we are ready to talk to the miners at any time’ with a shot of Arthur Scargill yelling through a megaphone ‘we will smash this Tory Government’. Tebbit famously managed to successfully get everybody referring to ‘old fashioned trade unions’ in the 1980s. As opposed to thoroughly modern paedophiles. Vaughan Gething, the Welsh Gov’t Health Minister, was complaining about ‘reactionary’ social media criticism of the NHS the other day. I wonder which blog he might have been thinking of???

Peter Gregson’s hagiographers claim that the miners’ strike brought out all the key qualities that Gregson possessed – including his role as a ‘tactician’ where he could ‘see what was needed’ and give Ministers ‘valuable options to confront a highly delicate and difficult situation’. His colleagues felt that without his advice Thatcher could not have so roundly defeated the miners.

Gregson had connections with the security services and was a ‘lifelong bachelor’. Before he retired in 1996 in the New Year Honours he was promoted to the rank of a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath. Just in time for the Waterhouse Inquiry!

This blog has concentrated on what was happening in Wales whilst Thatcher, Major, Blair and others concealed the criminality of Dafydd and the sex trafficking gang. Less often I’ve discussed what was happening in Westminster and the catastrophic consequences which would have followed if what was being done to conceal the activities of Sir Peter Morrison – and other high profile sex offenders – had ever been revealed. What I have discussed less often – except for in my post ‘A Trabant That Wants To Be A Ferrari…’ which detailed the activities of Sir Salvadore Moncada, now a leading pharmacologist who in a previous life was a geurrilla in El Salvador – are world events. Whilst victims of Dafydd and the sex traffickers in north Wales were being framed, illegally held in Dafydd’s dungeon or killed lest anyone find out that one of Thatcher’s friends and political aides was molesting kids in care in north Wales, Thatcher herself was of course at the centre of world events. There was her backing for Reagan’s war on drugs, a US policy which backfired disastrously (see post ‘Little Things Hitting Each Other’) – quite symbolic really because whilst that was going on, Dafydd was being allowed to build up a nice drug trade in north Wales under the nose of Bing Spear, the corrupt Chief Inspector of the Home Office’s Drugs Branch (see post ‘The Evolution Of A Drugs Baron?’).

The big issue through the Thatcher years was of course diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union, which then became the former Soviet Union.

In Jan 2014 the Guardian reported on released National Archives files which revealed that Thatcher’s Gov’t saw Gorbachov’s first official visit to Britain in Dec 1984 as an opportunity to ‘get inside the minds’ of the next generation of Soviet leaders. Thatcher had asked the Foreign Office to invite the politburo to London, although she did ask Charles Powell, her Private Secretary, not to invite Konstantin Chernenko (the General Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party) because ‘it is much too soon’.

The British ambassador in Moscow, Sir Iain Sutherland, had warned in a telegram about his experience of meeting Chernenko: ‘It was not the performance of an automaton, but it was pretty inept and confirmed the impression that, at least on international issues, the central figure in the Soviet leadership lacks authority and sophistication of thought’. Gorbachev, by contrast, was recognised as being ‘intelligent and confident’. His visit to the UK, Charles Powell informed Thatcher, ‘will be a unique opportunity to try and get inside the minds of the next generation of Soviet leaders’. Britain’s objectives, another note suggested, ‘should be to teach him something about how a western democracy works, to establish personal and political links, [and] raise UK profile in Soviet eyes’. This was a Gov’t which was concealing the murders of people who had evidence regarding a vicious paedophile gang of which Thatcher’s aide and friend Morrison was a member.

Gorbachev and his party arrived in London on 16 December 1984. Their private lunchtime conversation was a frank exchange in which Thatcher accused Gorbachev of funding the miners’ strike in Britain. Gorbachev insisted that the Soviet Union had transferred no funds to the NUM.

The archives state that when the fate of dissidents inside the USSR was raised, the ‘unemotional mask’ of Gorbachov slipped. At the official opposition lunch Neil Kinnock, then Labour leader, provoked ‘an intemperate outburst of obscenities and threats by Gorbachev against ‘turds’ and spies like [the dissident Natan] Sharansky, who was in prison, ‘that is where he will stay’.

So Kinnock dared to raise the subject of the imprisonment of Soviet dissidents whilst he was colluding with the Top Doctors and remained silent about the dungeon and the imprisonment of former kids in care and psych patients who had been fitted up. But then Dafydd’s mates from the Royal College of Psychiatrists who were protecting him were busy lecturing the Soviet Union on the abuses of psychiatry. Presumably the Soviets had no idea at all that Dafydd et al were running a paedophile gang and were enjoying the protection of the Royal College and the highest echelons of the medical establishment and Gov’t…

Whilst Thatcher supped with and patronised the members of the politburo, Brown and me were being threatened by the Top Doctors and harassed by people whom it is now fairly clear were working for the British security services. Gorbachev became general secretary of the Communist party in March 1985. By Dec 1991 the Soviet Union had collapsed. Throughout those years of ‘diplomacy’ on the part of Britain between Thatcher’s first meeting with Gorbachov and the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Wales’s industry had been destroyed and the country wrecked by a gang of sex traffickers and drug dealers who enjoyed complete protection as a result of their connections to a member of the British Gov’t as well as to a variety of other motley people – including Jimmy Savile – with friends in high places. Nothing was considered too much to conceal all this and the cover-up continues.

To the surviving members of Thatcher’s Cabinet: I was a 21 year old student and because I refused the offers of a disgusting old psychiatrist I had my career wrecked, my health ruined and was subjected to numerous attempts to frame me for serious offences. My friends were all targeted and two of them were found dead. As for you Kinnock you big tosser, you weren’t ever going to become PM no matter how deluded you were – would you like to fess up whatever deal it was that you did with Tony Francis (Dr X) who enjoyed letting everyone know that he was at Cardiff University whilst you were President of the Students Union there? Perhaps Dr Death would like to come clean about his relationship with the Top Doctors who kept the lid on all this as well.

Message to MI5 – COULD DO BETTER!!! And next time that a Gov’t wants to facilitate a paedophile gang for the benefit of its Ministers, do yourselves a favour and choose someone other than Dafydd to help you.

One reason why I remember the more entertaining events of the 1980s clearly is because I was a regular reader of Private Eye. So I will recycle a few of their memorable bits and pieces featuring Sir Peter Morrison’s boss, Cecil Parkinson. There was the clerihew which appeared in Clerihew Corner:

Sara Keays/Was Hard To Please/When She’d Been Laid/By The Minister For Trade

After Sara Keays told Parkinson that she was pregnant, Parkinson tried to coerce her into having an abortion despite previously voting to restrict the availability of abortion, then he dropped her, never saw the baby, Flora – who was born disabled – and obtained a superinjunction which no-one even knew existed for many years preventing Sara and anyone else making any public comment about Flora at all. After Parkinson died, it was discovered that Flora had been cut out of his will.

An Eye reader pointed out that an anagram of ‘The Right Honourable Cecil Parkinson MP’ was ‘Ror, I can bonk my posh piece all night throu’ (or something very similar).

Anyone up for finding a suitable anagram relating to Thatcher’s Cabinet which includes the words ‘child molesting’, ‘perjury’, ‘murder’?

I can also remember the Eye drawing attention to an anagram of Bill Wyman – Ban M’Willy. Anyone remember 13 year old Mandy Smith?

For many years a former North Wales Hospital patient wandered around Bethesda virtually destitute, neglected by the Arfon Community Mental Health Team, often homeless and ignored by everyone even when she freaked out so much that she was trying to chuck herself under cars in Bethesda High Streeet – a concerned resident rang Bethesda surgery only to be told ‘we know about her’. Another resident rang Gwynedd Social Services and told them that she was not prepared to stand by whilst this lady died. She was told that the patient in question was ‘very difficult and couldn’t be helped’. This patient used to tell me that she had once been a groupie and had slept with Mick Jagger. I don’t have any evidence that she did, but I do know that she was sexually exploited by a few other people who denied all knowledge of her and that some of those trafficked by Dafydd et al did shag some very high profile people.

The Rolling Stones have just announced a new tour! They’re going to Cardiff! Are you going to drop into Bethesda to look up old friends Mick? Or have they been forgotten now that you’ve been Sirred, your kids have been to Eton and Jerry’s wed the Dirty Digger?

I have detailed in previous posts how the victims of Dafydd and the paedophiles were managed once they had witnessed events which could land a few people in prison if anyone had acted upon their allegations. The first part of the process was sectioning the witnesses – they were then deemed mad of course so by definition couldn’t be believed – then they were framed for all offences great and small, so that it could be stressed that they were ‘criminals’. Now when the victims came out of Risley/Walton/Denbigh, they had to be managed until they died prematurely as a result of the neglect of the Top Doctors.

One recipient of Dafydd’s victims was Penrhyn Castle no less. Back in the mid-1980s Penrhyn Castle used to employ people during the summer months to look after the gardens, staff the railway museum, do the duties in the clock tower etc. They were employed on Thatcher’s scams – TOPS, YOPS, MSC etc – whereby they worked for very low wages for a few months and were then back on the dole again for the winter. I knew someone who used to cut the lawns there and the workplace anecdotes were amusing but informative. The person whom I knew had been wrecked by Dafydd a few months before he began work at Penrhyn Castle, but was high spirited with a sense of humour. For a while I wondered why Penrhyn Castle had him back every year for the summer because it didn’t sound as though much work got done. He crashed the ride-on mower into a tree so he was then assigned to the railway museum. When on duty one day he decided that he wanted to go outside for a fag at a time when the museum was full of a party of German tourists, so he grabbed a loudspeaker and yelled ‘ausfahrt, ausfahrt’ and was delighted when all the Germans filed out. The activities of this man were fairly benign but there were more bizarre things than people ordering German tourists around going on down there. It was explained to me that if the man who worked in the clock tower ever invited you up there it wasn’t a good idea to accept the invitation because he was ‘as gay as a trooper’ and would try and have sex with you in the clock tower (if you were male). It seemed that nearly everyone employed at Penrhyn Castle were the dispossessed of Bethesda whose lives had been wrecked by those we know and love.

I was told that the person who handed out these jobs at Penrhyn Castle was a really nice bloke, Wing Commander Panton, whom it was alleged had escaped from Colditz during WWII. I was even shown a letter of reference that Wing Commander Panton had written for the man who had crashed the mower into a tree – a very brief reference, but one which would be sufficient to land him another low paid temporary job on a work scheme. The rationale that I was given for the Wing Commander showing such charity to the victims of Dafydd and the paedophiles was that his wife was seriously mentally ill so ‘he understood’. This could have been true – I didn’t know the Wing Commander. However, if I was employing those folk every summer, I would have noticed that they were recounting stories of having been very seriously mistreated by the authorities – they had been beaten up by the police, fitted up for crimes and were obviously not being cared for properly although people were being paid a lot of money to do this. I am beginning to wonder if the Wing Commander was a bit like Dafydd – whom, it was alleged, was so kind to those mad patients. Dafydd even gave some of them jobs. Er – yes, the young female ones, they lived in his house with him and worked as his ‘nanny’ or ‘housekeeper’.

My informant told me that the Wing Commander retired from managing the grounds at Penrhyn Castle and moved to England to write children’s books. I have found a reference on the internet to a Wing Commander I.H. Panton who was Commanding Officer of No 85 Squadron RAF, 1971-73 – I presume that this must be the same man. I have mentioned how many people who concealed the wrongdoing of Dafydd et al had connections with the Forces and the security services. Was the Wing Commander yet another safe pair of hands who could effectively hide Dafydd’s victims from the wider public gaze by seemingly doing them a favour?

Lady Janet Douglas Pennant (1923-97) inherited Castell Penrhyn, the quarry and the estate in 1949 when her uncle Hugh Napier Douglas-Pennant died. Two years later she reached an agreement with the Treasury by which Castell Penrhyn and a large part of the estate were transferred to them in lieu of death duties. In turn, the Treasury transferred them to the National Trust. Separating the quarry and estate interests in the same year, a limited company was formed to run the quarry. In 1973 Lady Janet sold her remaining 51% shareholding in the company and the link between the Penrhyn family and the quarry were severed. Lady Janet still lived on the estate when the victims of Dafydd and the paedophile gang were being employed at the Castle every summer.

It was the Treasury Solicitor who shafted Mary Wynch in tandem with Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends (see post ‘The Mary Wynch Case – Details’). Antoinette Sandbach – who left her job as a criminal barrister in London to provide reinforcements for the paedophiles’ friends in north Wales when they felt under pressure a few years ago and who is now the Tory MP for Eddisbury – is a descendant of the Pennants. Antoinette’s dad Ian Lawrie Mackeson-Sandbach was Provincial Grand-Master of North Wales 1990-04, throughout the years when all those police investigations and the Waterhouse Inquiry failed to find any evidence of anyone other than few cave dwellers in north Wales abusing children (see post ‘News Round Up, 19 January 2018). Antoinette is a former colleague of David Jones MP – who is a Freemason and sat in north Wales courts working as a a solicitor whilst victims of the paedophile gang were framed (see post ‘The Right Honourable David Jones MP’). The Chair of the North West Wales NHS Trust, Hefin Davies, was a Freemason, as was Nigel Berry, the former North Wales Hospital nurse who managed the Gwynfa Unit for mentally ill adolescents, where children were violently assaulted and raped (see post ‘Don’t Be Silly, He’s Nice’).

Dafydd had a whole network of bent professionals whom he had helped out of tight spots and who in return helped him. There was the ‘doctor in England’ who treated Dafydd for his ‘nervous illness’ – no doubt every time there was another complaint about Dafydd to the GMC and a medical report was required. At one point Dafydd boasted that he was ‘treating’ a high flying female lawyer from England. She’s probably sitting in the Supreme Court now.

I will take the opportunity here to remind Dafydd what one of his victims said to him after Dafydd accused him of lying – it was the man who crashed the mower and tried out his German on the tourists at Penrhyn Castle:

‘I lied – you murdered’.

Sweet memories Dafydd!!

This particular man was beaten up by the police after he objected to an unidentified sergeant joining him in the shower at the station after he was fitted up for the possession of cocaine by the drug squad. After he got home to Bethesda late that night he began to experience psychotic symptoms. He went to his neighbour for help, only to be told ‘well you’re not fucking getting it from me’. Within 12 hours the man who had been assaulted by the police had a psychosis and set fire to his house – which was of course next door to the neighbour who had been so unhelpful. Arrest, Risley Remand Centre and a year in the clutches of Dafydd followed – all of which was completely unlawful…

The neighbour who had refused to help worked for S4C, so compared to the rest of Bethesda was highly paid. He was also a turd who had a long suffering partner who was on the receiving end of his violence and took to drink. She had a relationship with another victim of Dafydd who was surprised when, on a visit to Bethesda surgery, Dr Gareth Jones literally interrogated him regarding the details of his relationship with the git’s partner. But then Dr Gareth Jones was a man who was keeping a lot of secrets – including many of the secrets of the paedophile gang.

Another person who lived in Bethesda in those days was a hard core porn actress. She was actually very nice and was married to a highly unscrupulous man who was employed by the Not As Pathetic As The Other Sharks Professor Fergus Lowe in the School of Psychology at Bangor University to teach stats. There were many complaints about this very unsuitable man being let loose on the undergrads and even Fungus was forced to sack him after he turned up to a tutorial out of his head on LSD. I used to watch the ‘stats tutor’ clambering in and out of taxis in Bangor with schoolgirls. Was this maddest, most disreputable resident of Bethesda – he was even known by the Bethesda hippies as ‘Filthy Ed’ – ever arrested/fitted up/sectioned? Not at all…Sadly Filthy Ed’s wife died some years ago. Like all those witnesses to the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the paedophiles, Jane died from an illness at a time when so many people who were not witnesses to serious wrongdoing were surviving that particular illness – in Jane’s case it was breast cancer.  Filthy Ed is dead as well now. So there are now yet more crimes to which there are no longer any witnesses left alive.

Despite all this action in north Wales, nothing about Dafydd and the paedophiles ever appeared on the BBC or S4C. I will discuss why that might be in a future post.

No Ordinary Methods – Supplementary Post

My post ‘No Ordinary Methods’ detailed some of the practices and connections of George Carman – and how so many parts of his life and career touched on those who concealed the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal. I have more information concerning Carman’s network, so I’m writing this post for readers interested in how Carman came to be so powerful, who else assisted him and indeed how many people knew about his violent, abusive conduct towards many people but kept silent.

George Carman was a member of the Garrick, a club favoured by lawyers, actors, politicians, newspaper editors and High Court judges. Carman was friends with a fellow member of the Garrick, Sir Robin Day – they had been barristers together in the early 1950s. Sir Ronnie Waterhouse was also a member, as were a number of others who concealed wrongdoing in north Wales. Joshua Rozenberg the legal journalist and broadcaster was a regular at the Garrick in the 1990s – Rozenberg maintains that by then Carman had pretty much stopped visiting the Garrick.

The drinking holes, clubs and gambling dens in Manchester frequented by George Carman included the Embassy Club, where he drank with journalists.

His favourite watering holes in London included:

El Vinos – Carman was often seen at this Fleet Street favourite for lawyers and journos, accompanied by Mungo Fitzpatrick and James Crespi QC. Crespi managed to marry a ‘young nightclub hostess’ who left him after three weeks.

Dalys Wine Bar – this was opposite the Royal Courts of Justice and from the mid-80s was Carman’s regular starting point for a night out.

Wine Press – a regular haunt of Carman’s. He used to drink here with Paul Callan, a feature writer for the Mirror and Express.

Jimmy’z Bar, Sloane Avenue. Carman socialised here with his friend Christopher Moran, a property tycoon. Also with Aidan Barclay – the Chairman of Press Holdings, the owner of the Ritz, Carman’s client and friend.

Blondes, a Dover Street club – a popular haunt of sex workers and gangsters. Carman hung out here with George Best, as well as viscious criminal Frankie Fraser.

Carman was a regular at Le Rififi, Hay Hill, Mayfair. John Obertelli, the owner of Le Rififi, was a friend of Carman. Carman also frequented other ‘gentlemen’s clubs’ such as Bruton Suite, Toppers, Chaplins and L’Hirondelle.

In 1988 Carman visited Amsterdam with his son Dominic. George took the opportunity to tour the sex clubs.

Carman’s favourite casinos in London included Aspinalls, Curzon Street and the Playboy Club. He knew the Manchester casino located next to the Midland Hotel because in the 1970s Carman had applied for their licence on behalf of Cyril Stein, the Chairman of Ladbrookes.

At various stages in his career George Carman lived in Sale, Hale, Wilmslow, Altrincham (until 1980), Huntingdon, Evelyn Gardens Chelsea (1987-93), Wimbledon (both in Marryat Road and in Wimbledon Village) (1993 onwards).

Carman’s close colleagues in chambers will have known much of what he got up to. They included his junior counsel in London, Hugh Tomlinson, who lived in Islington -presumably near to two other junior barristers who had worked in Carman’s chambers, Tony Blair and Cherie Booth.

Frederic Reynold QC was Carman’s London chambers colleague for 29 yrs. Reynold specialises in employment law and has advised both the Equal Opportunities Commission and the BMA.

Fred Turner was a junior clerk in Carman’s chambers. Carman’s senior clerk when Carman was working both in Manchester and London was Ronnie Lynch- he had homes in Weybridge and Salford and commuted between the two.

Another solicitor that Carman knew well was Fabian Williams of James Chapman and Co in Manchester – Williams sent many briefs to Carman and Carman was godfather to Williams’s son.

Carman worked as a Recorder at Knightsbridge Crown Court but resigned in Dec 1983 – so he’ll have been very well known there.

‘No Ordinary Methods’ named many of the high profile clients of Carman, but there were more besides.

After he successfully defended Jeremy Thorpe, Carman acted for the engineering company William Press after a dawn raid upon them by the Inland Revenue – shortly after this William Press became AMEC following a merger.

In 1986 Carman acted for the Chief Constable of South Yorkshire, Peter Wright, after Arthur Scargill sued him for false imprisonment. Wright had Scargill’s activities monitored using officers from South Yorkshire. Carman won the case. Peter Wright may well have been an old buddy of Carman’s anyway, because Wright joined the Manchester Police in 1954 and by 1975 was a Chief Superintendent in the Greater Manchester Police. In 1979 Wright was Deputy Chief Constable of Merseyside Police and was in that role at the time of the Toxteth riots. He was Chief Constable of South Yorkshire 1983-90. So Wright was at the helm during the glorious days of South Yorkshire Police officers removing their numbers and covering their faces whilst they beat up striking miners at Orgreave as well as screwing up at Hillsborough and then falsifying statements to back up their untruthful version of events. Wright himself amended reports in an attempt to deflect blame away from the South Yorkshire Police even after the grim truth became known. But the only way was up for Peter Wright – he was President of ACPO, a member of the Parole Review Committee 1987-89 and after retirement an advisor to the MoD police 1991-94.

Carman acted for Joan Collins in 1986 and for Liz Hurley in 1996. He won damages from the Sun for Jason Connery and Stefanie Powers.

Carman won a case for M&S against Granada after they alleged that M&S were involved with the use of child labour.

He represented the Observer after Edwina Currie sued them – Richard Hartley QC appeared for Currie and Carman’s old friend Justice Drake presided. Currie won but it was observed after she published her diaries some years later that the information in them was sufficient for the Observer to have appealed the decision. They never did. Currie also admitted in her diaries that she and other Tories – as well as Thatcher – knew that Sir Peter Morrison, Thatcher’s aide, was molesting under-aged boys. Some of those boys were living in children’s homes in north Wales. Morrison was MP for Chester – not a million miles away from where Carman lived when he worked in Manchester.

Another case of Carman’s also saw him up against Richard Hartley QC with Justice Drake (Sir Maurice Drake) presiding – that was when Carman acted for the People after Mona Bauwens and David Mellor sued them. That case led to the end of David Mellor’s political career.

‘No Ordinary Methods’ explains why I suspect that Carman may have been throwing cases or doing undeclared deals behind closed doors – I explained that I suspected that something along these lines may have happened when Carman acted for the Guardian in 1997 after Jonathan Aitken sued them for libel. Although Aitken was supposedly thrashed at the hands of Carman, Aitken remained on remarkably good terms with him and escaped comparatively unscathed from both losing the libel case and being convicted of perjury. There were a few other aspects to the Aitken case as well. When Alan Rusbridger (the editor of the Guardian)heard that Aitken was going to sue, he stated that the Guardian needed to retain George Carman before Aitken did. Aitken’s side attempted to settle before Court – Lord Saatchi acting on behalf of Aitken had lunch with Rusbridger before the trial but obviously no settlement was thrashed out.

The judge who presided over Aitken’s libel case was Justice Oliver Popplewell. Popplewell ruled that the case should be tried by a judge without a jury. Carman took the decision to Appeal – the Appeal was heard by Tom Bingham, the Lord Chief Justice, who upheld Popplewell’s decision. Popplewell, Rusbridger and Carman were all members of the Garrick.

In 1975 Popplewell, in his capacity as a barrister, defended his 18 year old godson at his trial for credit card fraud – a young man called Stephen Fry. Popplewell and his wife had been friends with Fry’s parents for many years. The Garrick contains many actors as members. At one point Popplewell was Vice-Chair of the Parole Board.

In 1990 Carman acted for businessman Rolf Schild in a libel case against Express Newspapers. Carman lost against Robert Alexander QC who was representing the Express. Presiding judge William Mars-Jones upheld an Appeal against Carman. Nevertheless, Carman continued to enjoy good relations with Sir John Junor the editor of the Sunday Express and they had a very jolly lunch together not long afterwards.

Robert Alexander QC became a Tory peer and was Chair of the Bar Council 1985-86. He represented Jeffrey Archer in his libel case against the Star in 1987 – the case that the Star later took to appeal when new evidence emerged… Alexander retired from the Bar in 1989 and was Chair of Nat West bank 1989-99. He was Chair of JUSTICE, 1990-05 and was Chancellor of the University of Exeter, 1998-05.

William Mars-Jones grew up in north Wales and retained many connections there. He was President of UCNW (now known as Bangor University) whilst Gwynne the lobotomist and paedophiles’ friend was employed in the Student Health Centre. Mars-Jones was a member of the Garrick.

Carman won libel actions for Philip Oppenheimer and Norman Tebbit against David Bookbinder, the Labour leader of Derbyshire County Council.

Celebrity friends of Carman’s included David Tang – who was friends with Sarah Ferguson and Diana -and Conrad Black and Barbara Amiel (Carman was a regular at their dinner parties). Piers Morgan was an admirer of Carman.

Carman acted in many cases involving sport. Benetton were charged with interfering with the refuelling equipment on Formula One driver Michael Schumacher’s car before the German Grand Prix in July 1994 – a second Benetton car had gone up in flames. Benetton were also charged with a lesser offence involving cheating as well. Benetton Chairman Flavio Briatore hired Carman to defend the company and the driver when they were due to appear before a hearing of the World Motor Sports Council of the FIA in Paris. The day before the hearing in Sept 1997 Carman met with Max Moseley. Bernie Ecclestone, the Chairman of Formula One, was also present. Carman succeeded in getting the charges against Benetton dropped.

Carman appeared for the Mirror Group when Graham Souness sued the People after they published allegations that Souness had mistreated his wife and about his divorce settlement. Lord Gareth Williams QC represented Souness and Justice Morland presided. Williams and Morland were old pals of Carman. Souness won, although damages were reduced on appeal.

Many of the cases that Carman lost resulted in people being accused of deeply unpleasant things being exonerated – as in the cases of Gordon Anglesea and Peter Adamson. Carman lost when he represented the Mail after they published allegations of sexual abuse involving Indian boys by former charity head Joe Homan. He lost when he represented the Mirror Group over three articles that they published concerning Dr Doolittle aka Dr Anthony Percy, after it was alleged that he failed to attend a seriously injured patient. Carman also lost for the Sunday Express regarding their allegations concerning Peter Bottomley sharing a platform with Martin McGuiness.

In 1996 Carman represented cricketer Imran Khan after Khan was sued by Ian Botham and Allan Lamb. Botham and Lamb were represented by Charles Gray QC and Justice French presided. Carman won the case despite the production in Court of a letter of apology to Botham written by Kahn after the incident concerned.

Carman represented the Sun in 1999 when Bruce Grobbelaar sued them after they accused him of match-fixing. Grobbelaar was represented by a man well acquainted with Carman, Richard Hartley QC. Justice Gray presided. Carman lost the case. After Carman died, the Sun appealed and won.

In 1999 the News Of The World alleged that Lawrence Dallaglio dealt in coke and ecstasy during the 1997 Lions tour of South Africa. Dallaglio resigned as captain and pulled out of a planned Australian tour. Twenty four hours later he held a press conference, denying any drug taking in 1997. The RFU appointed a panel to examine the allegations. The Chair was Sir John Kay, a judge known to Carman – also the judge who issued a High Court injunction against me upon the affidavits of two Gwynedd social workers who both perjured themselves. One had never met me, one had met me at most three times. The injunction was granted because I had written too many letters of complaint about Gwynedd Social Services, Gwynedd Health Authority and Clwyd Health Authority re the misconduct of their mental health staff.

After Sir John Kay’s panel considered Dallaglio’s  case, charges were laid against Dallaglio, who then met with Carman. The tribunal was due to be Chaired by retired High Court judge Oliver Popplewell – who had presided over Jonathan Aitken’s libel case in which Carman had acted for the Guardian and won. Carman persuaded the prosecutor Richard Lissack QC to drop the drugs charges in a ‘behind the scenes’ deal – Carman then got Dallaglio off the charge of bringing the game into disrepute.

Charles Kennedy once asked Carman at a party if he’d like to be a Lib Dem peer – Kennedy asked Carman to speak to Lord Razzall about it. Yet Carman never appeared on the Lib Dem peers list, although no reason was ever given.

A reader has sent me a link to an article that Carman’s son Dominic penned for the Guardian in Oct 2012, in which he explains his fears that his father may have covered-up for Jimmy Savile. Paul Connew the editor of the Sunday Mirror in 1994 maintained that at the time, the Sunday Mirror had ‘credible and convincing evidence’ that Savile had abused two women whilst they were in a children’s home years previously. Connew explained that the in-house lawyers at the Mirror Group plc didn’t dare risk publishing because they feared that Savile would sue them, using George Carman. Dominic explains that in 1992, Savile’s lawyers retained Carman ‘over a different matter’ – he does not say what. Although Carman had previously been very good mates with the Mirror Group and had acted for them himself many times, in Oct 1993 he acted against them – successfully – on behalf of Elton John, winning substantial damages. Dominic alleges that it was this that terrified the Mirror Group when they were faced with the decision as to whether to publish the Savile story.

Dominic has missed something here. By 1994, Maxwell was dead and David Montgomery had become Chief Exec of Mirror Group plc – Montgomery had been appointed in 2002. In his capacity as Chief Exec, Montgomery had purchased sizeable portions of the Independent and the Independent On Sunday. In 1994 Gordon Anglesea sued the Independent On Sunday – as well as Private Eye and HTV – for alleging that he had sexually abused boys in care in north Wales. Carman acted for the defence. Carman lost – as I explained in my post ‘Y Gwir Yn Y Byd – Additional Comments’, I really do believe that Carman threw that case. A matter of weeks later, one of the young men who gave evidence that he had been abused by Anglesea was found hanging from the stairwell of his block of flats in Wrexham. A verdict of suicide was returned. If one was going to hang oneself it would be more usual to do so in one’s own flat, not in the stairwell. In 1992 five witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal were killed in an arson attack on a building after being invited to a party there. One survivor who publicly stated that witnesses were being murdered was found dead himself shortly afterwards. (For the full story regarding this mass murder, see post ‘The Silence Of The Welsh Lambs’). In 2016 Gordon Anglesea was imprisoned for the historical sexual abuse of boys in care in north Wales. HTV, Private Eye or the Indie On Sunday did not take a case to appeal, although they were forced to pay Anglesea huge damages in 1994.

Dominic mentions in his article that after the Coronation Street actor Peter Adamson aka Len Fairclough had used Carman to get him off an indecent assault charge, no action was taken even when some years later Adamson sold a story to the Sun admitting that he had been guilty exactly as charged.

Carman had that effect on people. They were very, very frightened of him.

Top Of The Cops

Some four years ago when I was openly discussing when and where I’d publish my experiences with the mental health services, someone who knew much of what they had got up to and had read the ludicrous affidavits that they had sworn in their attempts to gain High Court injunctions against me and have me imprisoned gave me a book to read, simply commenting that he thought that I’d find it interesting. That book was ‘Stalker’, by John Stalker, the former Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police. It was published in 1988 and Stalker wrote it in the aftermath of him being removed from his role in leading an investigation into the possibility that the RUC had pursued a ‘shoot to kill’ policy against suspected IRA terrorists and following an investigation into Stalker himself. Stalker was accused of associating with people who had connections to criminals. He was removed from the ‘shoot to kill’ investigation, suspended from his job, reinstated but then left the police force anyway, although he was only in his late 40s. It all elicited huge media interest and Stalker’s story was that he had been removed from the investigation because of what he was uncovering in N Ireland – he maintained that he was smeared and that a cover-up of dodgy practices in the RUC had taken place. Stalker was appointed Deputy Chief Constable of Greater Manchester in March 1984 and began his investigation into the RUC in June 1984. In May 1986 he was told that he was removed forever from the N Ireland investigation and was instructed to stay at home. In August 1986 the Police Committee voted to reinstate him as Deputy Chief Constable and he returned to work. In March 1987 Stalker left the police.

Since ‘Stalker’ was published, much of what has been revealed regarding the conduct of certain police forces at the time and the allegations of organised child abuse by public figures – some close to Thatcher – allows one to read Stalker’s story in a way in which he probably never imagined one would. The picture that emerges from Stalker’s book is that of an awful lot of police officers at the most senior levels in Britain behaving badly, a number of whom seem to have axes to grind and are therefore making allegations and counter-allegations against each other. Admissions and accusations of Freemasonry swirl around numerous people and a lot of officers, including Stalker, seem to have very cosy relationships with journalists, whilst at the same time complain that other officers are ‘leaking’ to the press. The impression that I am left with is that of the scenario created by those we know and love – everyone involved loathes each other but have all done a lot of things that they shouldn’t have, so are condemned to one another’s company. One wouldn’t really trust any of these people further than one would spit a rat. Stalker certainly had some very interesting friends and contacts and I will return to this topic in future posts.

It transpired that the person who recommended that I read Stalker’s book had noticed something that I also noticed as I read it. On occasions throughout the book, the very words used, the phrases used and even the context in which Stalker frames himself as an honest man unfairly hounded, concerned only for the welfare of his loving wife and children and his desire to press on with his valuable work, is very reminiscent indeed of the affidavits that Dr Dafydd Alun Jones swore on oath in the mid 1990s regarding the reign of terror that he maintained that I was subjecting him to. Now those affidavits elicited hilarity at the time, as I shared them with a number of other people who had knowledge of what Dafydd was actually doing. Dafydd’s turns of phrase were so odd, stylised, quaint and melodramatic that some of those phrases were repeated frequently by numerous people, using a Dafydd voice. I remember those ridiculous affidavits very well and as I read Stalker’s book, I was right back there with them. My main thought was ‘I am reading something written by the person who dictated those affidavits’. Of course, people who have been educated by the same people in the same institutions often write or speak in a similar way. Stalker is slightly younger than Dafydd and grew up in inner Manchester and finished his education as a teenager, whereupon he joined the police. Dafydd grew up in a village in Gwynedd where Welsh was the first language of nearly everyone. I understand that he initially began a chemistry degree but was kicked out in disgrace (although no-one knows exactly what the disgrace involved) and subsequently studied medicine at Liverpool. There are no similarities between Stalker’s education and Dafydd’s. Stalker’s book reveals something else. That after he left the police, he pursued work in journalism and the media. At one po
