Dates For Your Diary

I used to live near a village in Somerset called Fiddington and a group of villagers produced a parish newsletter, the ‘Fiddington News’, on a regular basis. The ‘Fiddington News’ had a feature entitled ‘Dates For Your Diary’ and as disrespectful teenagers, my friend and I would howl with laughter at the idea of putting some of the suggested dates in our diaries. It wasn’t that the dates were pure evil, they were just the sort of things that teenagers laugh at – whist drives, Evensong, or if the boat was really being pushed out, the Flower Show.

So in ‘Fiddington News’ style, here’s a post with a few Dates For Your Diary, at least for those people who are interested in joining the dots re the Westminster Paedophile Ring and associated wrongdoing.

Previous posts eg. ‘I Don’t Believe It!’ detailed the attempts of Top Docs Malcolm Pearce and Professor Geoffrey Chamberlain at St George’s Hospital Medical School to become world famous by publishing, in Aug 1994, an account of a life saving medical miracle that they had performed. Unfortunately for them, everything unravelled rapidly as it was very soon revealed that they had performed no such operation and had committed a major research fraud. Pearce was sacked in Dec 1994 and struck off in June 1995. Chamberlain did not face any disciplinary action, I suspect because of his key role in concealing the Westminster Paedophile Ring and his close association with the Royal gynaecologist Sir George Pinker (see post ‘Wimmin’s Wellbeing – The Fortnum And Mason Connection’).

In my post ‘Now Then…’ I also detailed how, when he was working in the US in 1965-66, Chamberlain had carried out medical experiments on at least one living foetus whom he had aborted at 7 months gestation and then killed after the experiments. I cannot understand how this never came to the attention of the wider public, not only when Chamberlain became embroiled in scandal in 1994, but throughout the many battles over abortion in the US. America has a vociferous anti-abortion lobby who’s worst nightmare is exactly the sort of thing that Chamberlain did. Chamberlain’s work was published in 1968 in the ‘American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology’, so I can only assume that someone worked very hard to ensure that his research never appeared in the media or as part of any anti-abortion campaign.

Furthermore, in the US there is legislation that supposedly prevents the sort of thing that Chamberlain was doing from being kept secret ie. the US Freedom of Information legislation, which began in the 1970s and has been under further development up to the present. In anti-abortion campaigning in America, there is no specific reference to Chamberlain et al (1968) although there’s a strand of campaigning regarding feotal awareness and sensitivity, feotal disposal and feotal experimentation, which clearly alludes to the sort of thing that Chamberlain was doing. Chamberlain scarpered back to the UK by the time that his Mengele-like efforts were published, so perhaps that is how he avoided the car bombs, drive-by shootings, aggressive picketing and the like.

My posts ‘The Banality Of Evil’, ‘A Solicitor’s Letter From North East Wales MIND’ and ‘Now Then…’ describe how, during 1994 and 1995 – after there had been a police investigation into a possible paedophile ring operating in north Wales/Cheshire and the Jillings Investigation into the abuse of children in the care of Clwyd County Council was underway and there was an increasing number of voices demanding a public inquiry into matters north Wales – the refusal of anyone to investigate my very serious complaints about Dafydd et al and the numerous attempts by Dafydd and the paedophile gang to have me declared dangerous and incarcerated on the basis of no more than their perjury, mapped neatly on to events at St George’s Hospital Medical School. I had worked for Malcolm Pearce at St Georges, 1989-91 and was forced out of my job (see post ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London…’). Documents now in my possession demonstrate clearly that St George’s colluded with Dafydd and the paedophiles and were, without my knowledge, in direct communication with them whilst I was employed there.

Posts ‘The International Language Of Screaming’, ‘Feet In Chains’ and ‘They Are MYRIAD, They Are Legion’ describe how, when investigations into the VIP paedophile ring in north Wales/Cheshire ‘of which there was no evidence’ were underway, there was a frantic reconstruction of the image of north Wales as a place heaving with talented writers, musicians and other cultural giants and a sudden explosion of interest in the writing of the history of psychiatry in north Wales, which somehow forgot to mention the endemic abuse of patients, the Mary Wynch case – which made history – or the dungeon in which Dafydd was unlawfully imprisoning victims of the sex trafficking gang. The ‘talented people’ suddenly colonising the media from north Wales and those rewriting history were all members or associates of the sex trafficking gang or their families.

I have mentioned how, when the distress flare was sent up by the paedophiles of north Wales, reinforcements from other parts of the UK were called in, such as Charles Webster from Oxford University, ‘the official NHS historian’, the ‘polymath’ Dr Jonathan Miller (see post ‘The International Language Of Screaming’) and, it would seem, those medical men who were set to make history at St George’s. Professor Mark Williams, Dafydd’s colleague from Bangor University, was taking the world by storm with his research fraud which was Mindfulness (see post ‘The Biggest Expert Of The Lot’) and Dafydd himself had discovered PTSD (see post ‘Feet In Chains’) and was leading the field in diagnosing ‘cannabis psychosis’ whilst selling Class A drugs.

Between the fit-ups in court and the deaths of our friends, us service users in north Wales were pissing ourselves laughing as we saw these fuckwits whom we knew very well paraded before the world as groundbreaking superstars.

I have mentioned that Chamberlain received plenty of good PR to see him through choppy waters as a result of his friendship with Cilla Black, who in the early-mid 1990s was the biggest light entertainment star – and money spinner – for LWT. Dear old Peter Mandelson had worked for LWT in the 1980s and then dedicated himself to reconstructing the image of the Labour Party in exactly the same way that someone was encouraging the paedophiles’ friends to reconstruct the image of north Wales. The fickle finger of suspicion can’t only be pointed at Mandy – that was an era of marketing and ad men lying their arses off in order to convince people that stupid, criminal politicians were going to save the nation.

Come on down Tim Bell and Saatchi and Saatchi, the Price Is Right!

I was fascinated to see the emergence of someone else who became a light entertainment favourite – and a very rich woman – in spite of her lack of ability and, it transpired, her deeply unpleasant way of conducting herself, during 1994. I am talking Vanessa Feltz.

Vanessa arrived on our TV screens from – allegedly – nowhere in May 1994, after she landed a very lucrative contract with Anglia TV to present a daytime show, ‘Vanessa’. It was a new type of TV show for the UK, very obviously modelled on the multiply traumatised  multimillionaire Oprah in the UK. My God, Vanessa wasn’t half talked up before her show was launched. Acres and acres of newsprint, wall to wall interviews with Vanessa and her husband on TV and radio. There was only one narrative – that Vanessa was a ‘Jewish housewife from north London’ who had struck lucky because someone somewhere had noticed her ‘talent’. Vanessa would appear on a sofa shrieking, explaining that she was a ‘big woman’ who of course ‘likes chocolate’ and was going to change the course of light entertainment. I noticed all this not because of the trite Vanessa, but because of who her husband was, who was mentioned in EVERY interview and appeared on TV with her. He was the surgeon Michael Kurer, who had trained at UCL and I knew what some of his colleagues were getting up to.

Vanessa banged on constantly about her ‘wonderful’ doctor husband and her ‘gorgeous’ children. Which I thought was weird because if I was embarking on a career in trash TV, I would want my family kept well out of it. Furthermore, if I was working as a Top Doctor, I would want to be kept well out of it as well. But no, Vanessa shrieked and giggled through numerous interviews, screaming ‘he’s a doctor, he’s a doctor, isn’t he wonderful’ and took trips down memory lane and recounted how her gran was laid up in UCH and said to her that there was a lovely young medical student on duty and how the 17 year old Vanessa was introduced to this GORGEOUS – shriek, shriek, shake the dated hairstyle about – aspiring Top Doc. Engagement and marital bliss followed from 1983 onward, a la Barbara Cartland.

It was very clear to me that the Top Doc was Vanessa’s USP and was a key part of the equation.

Furthermore, Vanessa wasn’t ‘just a Jewish housewife’. She was Jewish and she did come from north London – Totteridge, a very affluent area, her father had a ‘lingerie business’ – but she was a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge and was a journalist for the ‘Jewish Chronicle’ and the ‘Daily Mirror’. Vanessa, who mentioned her family values as often as she mentioned the Top Doc husband and beautiful children, had also specialised in offering outspoken sex advice and had written for ‘Men Only’. So Vanessa could well have bumped into Dafydd’s and paedophiles’ friends such as Dr Philip Cauthery and Dr Martin Cole (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III’), Dr Patricia Gillan (see post ‘A Bit More About Those Very Muddy Waters’) etc. Sex therapists all. Cauthery was on the Editorial Board of ‘Forum’ magazine, for which Alastair Campbell wrote. Campbell also worked for the ‘Daily Mirror’.

Feltz had also worked for the BBC London radio station GLR.

‘I’m just a suburban doctor’s wife who spends my time making cup cakes for the children.’

Vanessa went to Haberdasher Aske’s Girls’ School. I’m fairly sure that Esther Ratnzen, that good friend of Dafydd and the abusers, sent her daughter to Haberdasher Aske’s and Esther is also part of the celebrity Jewish London community.

As for the Top Doc, Michael Kurer was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic and shoulder surgeon to the North Middlesex University NHS Trust in 1994. He was born and grew up in Manchester before attending medical school at UCL. Kurer started his orthopaedic training at the Royal Free Hospital and became a senior registrar at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

Kurer’s interest in shoulders was inspired by working with Ian Bayley and Paul Calvert. Kurer spent a year working with them as a research fellow immediately prior to his consultant appointment.

Paul Calvert built up a specialist shoulder clinic in the orthopaedic department at St George’s Hospital, where he was clinical lead for ten years.

Why does that not surprise me?

Calvert later moved to the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, where Kurer worked with him. Although Calvert trained as a general orthopaedic surgeon, he retained his involvement with trauma surgery and continued to cover for medical emergencies. Calvert was the lead surgeon on call at the Clapham Junction rail crash in 1988, St George’s being the nearest hospital to the crash site.

Calvert ‘masterminded’ the emergency care at St George’s for those injured in the Clapham Junction rail crash, as well as ‘dealing briskly’ with various incursions from the media and the Gov’t. Calvert has published on orthopaedic surgery and on the consequences of the Clapham Junction rail crash. The new orthopaedic operating theatres that he planned and commissioned at St George’s were named in his honour.

Paul Calvert died of cancer in May 2004, aged 55.

The Clapham Junction rail crash happened on 12 Dec 1988. Thirty five people died and 484 were injured. The crash was caused by a signal failure as a result of a wiring fault. A subsequent Public Inquiry Chaired by Anthony Hidden QC found serious health and safety violations on the part of British Rail and BR were fined £250k.

The Hidden Inquiry also recommended the installation of automatic train protection (ATP) for the whole rail network. The ATP equipment governs the speed of trains and automatically stops them at red lights. However, the £750m price tag was considered too high by British Rail and the Gov’t, immediately prior to privatisation in 1993. In 1998 after the Paddington rail crash, Deputy PM John Prescott said that ‘money was no object’ in upgrading railway safety systems.

An inquiry led by Lord Cullen into fatal crashes at Southall in 1997 and at Ladbroke Grove in 1999 once again called for ATP to be installed by 2010 on the railways. Yet in 2002 Blair’s Transport Secretary, Stephen Byers, said the Gov’t would not commit to the £3bn needed to install ATP. However, the cheaper, simpler Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS) has since been installed across the network – although it cannot stop trains going through a red light if they are travelling at more than 75 mph.

So we’ll wait for the next train crash. When it happens, as with the Clapham Junction disaster, the TV cameras will be there to film the Top Docs wearing their high vis jackets with ‘DOCTOR’ written on the back, as they wade through the wreckage and the corpses. The TV cameras will also be on cue to film Angels ‘coming in from home to help out in an emergency’. When it all kicked off at Clapham and Calvert was the hero of the hour, people very wisely remained quiet about the fact that Calvert’s senior colleagues at St George’s were colluding with Dafydd and the paedophiles in north Wales and that their Professor of Paediatrics, Geoffrey Chamberlain’s friend Oliver Brooke, had in Dec 1986 been imprisoned for the possession of child porn and for procuring child porn, but was released on appeal in May 1987 by Lord Chief Justice Geoffrey Lane, who likened Brooke’s kiddie porn collection to a collection of cigarette cards. Oliver Brooke was a major figure in a pan-European paedophile ring. See post ‘The Heart Of Darkness’ for details.

Neither did anyone mention that when Cynthia Payne’s brothel at Ambleside Avenue in Streatham was raided in 1978, among the now famous but unnamed customers found within – which included a peer, lawyers, a judge, police officers and Top Doctors – were a number of consultants from St George’s. I don’t mind if Top Docs visit brothels in which all activity involves consenting adults who are there of their own free will, but Ambleside Avenue was known to be a networking opportunity for the clients, some of whom had interests in sex with underaged people. For more information re Ambleside Avenue, who turned a blind eye to what and how Lord David Sutch, who knew about the details of life in that brothel, was found dead whilst in the care of the Top Docs, see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III’.

At the time of the Clapham Junction rail crash, Thatcher’s Gov’t was on the ropes with regard to transport safety. There had been a series of fatal accidents and Paul Channon, the Secretary of State for Transport, was finding it increasingly difficult to explain Gov’t complacence. Channon was a very rich man, a member of the Guinness family who produced generations of Tory politicians and a girlfriend for Carlo. Paul Channon’s daughter Olivia was found dead at Oxford University as the result of a heroin overdose in 1986. Fellow party-goers lied about the circumstances of Olivia’s death and the fall guy was her friend Rosie Johnston, who went to prison. Others got off remarkably lightly, particularly the ones from aristocratic families. See post ‘Is The Party Over Yet?’

In Dec 1988 Ken Clarke was Health Secretary and was involved in an all out war with the BMA, of which the President at the time was Dr John Marks. In Dec 1988 I was part of John’s Marks’s brother’s Prof Vincent Marks’s CRC-funded research team at the University of Surrey. When I worked for Vincent Marks, unbeknown to me, my work was stolen and given to Prof Nicola Curtin of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne University, who published it under her name. At the same time, one of Tony Francis’s psychiatrist colleagues from Manchester University had decided that he was going to become a cancer researcher and took part in a research fraud which resulted in the – presumed – suicide of one of the members of the research team. See posts ‘Oh Lordy, It’s CR UK’, ‘Reports Of Death Were Greatly Exaggerated’ and ‘Apocalypse Now’.

Ken Clarke knew all about Dafydd and the paedophiles in north Wales and concealed their crimes and he knew about the criminality at St George’s Hospital and concealed that as well. Ken and Thatcher were involved in a tussle with Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, who’s ancestors had provided the dosh which had established St George’s Hospital centuries before at Hyde Park Corner. The Duke, the richest man in the country, wanted the money from the sale of the Hyde Park Corner site, now that St George’s had relocated to Tooting. Ken Clarke’s autobiography explained that he thought that the money from the sale should be reinvested into the NHS. Ken’s book doesn’t explain what the outcome was, but what actually happened was that the Duke was allowed to purchase the Hyde Park Corner site, which was worth millions, for £6000 (see post ‘The White Heat Of This Revolution’).

The Duke of Westminster was at the time the President of the City of Chester Conservative Association. The constituency MP was Sir Peter Morrison, who was a member of the paedophile gang in north Wales/Cheshire. Morrison was also molesting kids in London. His conduct was openly discussed by members of the constituency association and widely discussed at Westminster. Thatcher was warned about his activities but Morrison remained in her Gov’t and a personal friend of hers.

Morrison’s sister Dame Mary was Woman-of-the-Bedchamber to HM Queen Lilibet. The Duke was a close friend of Carlo, who was Chancellor of UCNW (Bangor University), where staff were facilitating the sex trafficking ring. Alison Taylor, the whistleblowing social worker from Gwynedd, wrote to Carlo in the late 1980s, telling him that children in care were being abused in north Wales. Carlo’s office wrote back and said that he could not get involved. Kids from Bryn Estyn were taken on ‘work placements’ to Grosvenor’s estates, but refused to return there without explaining why.

Come on Ken, you and Thatch didn’t really fight the Duke over the Hyde Park Corner site did you? You just handed it over for the price of a cup of tea, because the Peter Morrison business had you all over a barrel.

In 1994, Mary Archer was a non-executive Director of Anglia Television. When he was young, Jeffrey Archer aka Tuppence had worked for the UNA, with which Dafydd was linked and as a charity fundraiser for the National Birthday Trust, with which Geoffrey Chamberlain was involved (see post ‘Now Then…’). In July 1987, Tuppence gave evidence in a libel trial at the Old Bailey, regarding allegations that he had paid a prostitute with whom he had slept to leave the country. At the time, I made jokes about Tuppence’s evidence in a letter to Gwynedd Health Authority. I now have possession of a document which shows that someone had carefully underlined every reference that I had made to Tuppence and his evidence at that trial. My letters to Gwynedd Health Authority were all being passed on to Andrew Park, a bent lawyer in the Welsh Office, who knew that Dafydd and the paedophiles were perjuring themselves but who nonetheless co-ordinated court action against me.

It was later revealed that Tuppence had perjured himself at the 1987 trial and he was imprisoned for this in 2001. The prostitute to whom he had given dosh was due to give evidence in court again, but was killed as a result of a car crash shortly before Tuppence’s trial. Tuppence’s wife also perjured herself in the 1987 trial, but was never charged.

For further info about Tuppence and Lady Mary, see post ‘Tuppence And His Fragrant Wife’.

Jeffrey Archer was named as someone who may have benefited from insider dealing as a result of an attempted takeover of Anglia TV whilst his wife was a non-executive Director of Anglia TV. An investigation by the Secretary of State for the DTI launched in July 1994 into allegations of insider dealing by Archer resulted in no charges being brought. The Secretary of State for the DTI at the time was Michael Heseltine, who is from Swansea although he does his best to pretend not to be.

Awound the wagged wock the wagged wascal wan. A Towy wascal, not a Relsh one.

There was a long standing paedophile gang operating in west Wales with links to Dafydd and the gang in north Wales. Heseltine will have known about them, as he will have known about Peter Morrison. Heseltine was MP for Tavistock in Devon, 1966-74, so he will have also known the sort of activities with which Jeremy Thorpe was involved.

When Vanessa got her big break with Anglia TV in May 1994, one of the bent NHS managers in Gwynedd who was colluding with Dafydd et al in their attempts to fit me up was Keith Thomson. Thomson resigned as CEO of the NW Wales NHS Trust in 2005 after he was threatened with imprisonment by a High Court judge in Cardiff for unlawfully witholding my medical records. Thomson told the world that he was ‘retiring’. He didn’t retire, he relocated to west Wales, where he became CEO of the NHS Trust down there.

In 1994 Heseltine was still entertaining hopes of becoming PM.

Heseltine’s highly lucrative family business was the publisher Haymarket. Someone else who was helping to keep the lid firmly nailed down on the wrongdoing of Dafydd and paedophiles was Dr David Owen – who’s wife Deborah was a literary agent, until she retired in 2013. Dr Death was directly linked with some of the Top Docs involved with the sex trafficking gang in north Wales and Dr D.G.E. Wood, the corrupt GP who was facilitating the gang, really liked Dr Death. In 1988, when Ken Clarke was battling with the BMA, Wood was approaching all sorts of people without my knowledge and colluding with them to damage me. I imagine that Wood did this for many years, but I only have documentary evidence of him doing this during 1988 and 1989.

Deborah Owen is a rich American who was literary agent to the best. When she was young she worked for Lippincott in the US and when she arrived in London in 1969, Owen worked for Nicholas Thompson.

Owen’s most high profile client was Delia Smith. Delia’s mother was Welsh and after Delia left school and began cooking, she lived with a Harley Street family, upon whom she tried out her recipes. Delia worked as a cookery writer for the Daily Mirror’s magazine from 1969. The Deputy Editor was Michael Wynne-Jones, who was born in Wales – Delia married him in 1971.

In 1997 Delia and her husband became the majority shareholders in Norwich City F.C. Wynne-Jones had been associated with Norwich City for decades.

Older readers will remember 1970s TV favourite ‘The Sale Of The Century’, produced by Anglia TV, which was introduced with an enthusiastic cry of ‘From Norwich, it’s the quiz of the week…’

From ‘Service Shenanigans’, it’s the quiz of the week – who was it, between 1993-97, who gave people known to me in Somerset who were in touch with D.G.E. Wood without my knowledge, thousands and thousands and thousands of pounds in return for them smearing my character and their silence if I was imprisoned or found dead?

Someone at St George’s had previously rung the same people pretending to be Brown and told them that I’d tried to kill myself – which wasn’t true. Although what was happening at the time was that people were trying to kill me and Brown.

I’ll be blogging more about the Somerset connections soon – I’ve uncovered more and it’s not looking too good for the Wagged Wascal from Swansea who always harboured hopes of being PM…

Michael Wynn-Jones established New Crane Publishing, which produced some of Smith’s books as well as the Sainsbury’s magazine, which Wynn-Jones edited. In 2005, New Crane Publishing was sold to Seven Publishing for around £7 million; Smith had been working as a consultant for the publishing company. Wynne-Jones has written extensively and in 1972, George Gale appointed Wynn-Jones as deputy editor of ‘The Spectator’.

Vanessa, don’t tell me that with this sort of Everest of a dung heap to conceal, that you were plucked from obscurity by chance by a fairy godmother in May 1994, just when St George’s and Dafydd were in great need of assistance and an advert for wholesome family-orientated Top Docs was required to cover for nutters who were running paedophile gangs and had a history of carrying out medical experiments on almost full term foetuses and then killing them.

Meanwhile, up in UCNW, Professor Fergus Lowe, who had succeeded Dafydd in the University as Mr Big, was netting huge amounts of grant funding from Unilever to vastly expand the School of Psychology. For many years the advisory director of Unilever was Lord Leverhulme, Philip Lever, the 3rd Viscount Leverhulme. He was a former Senior Steward of the Jockey Club, 1973-76 and Lord Lieutenant of the City and County of Chester from 1949-90. Unilever was the company founded by Philip Lever’s grandfather. Fungus built his empire at Bangor by overthrowing the influence of Dafydd in the University in the late 1980s and then used his knowledge of Dafydd’s crimes to hold a gun to the heads of those who had been complicit with Dafydd. Philip Lever continued in the Lever family’s philanthropic tradition as a Trustee of the Leverhulme Trust. He was Chancellor of Liverpool University, 1980-93. The Liverpool University which trained Dafydd and trained and employed many of his fellow crooks. Philip Lever was Chancellor in 1987 when Dafydd told me that he was friends with a Professor Richard someone or other and that if I dropped my complaint about him, he would have a word with Professor Richard and I would be guaranteed a place to study medicine at Liverpool. Just like that. I was so gobsmacked that to my eternal regret the surname of the corrupt Professor did not register and I have no idea who he was. For more details on Philip Lever, see post ‘Heart Of Darkness’.

Dr Death was Chancellor of Liverpool University, 1996-09.

Vanessa’s love-in with Anglia TV ended in 1998, when she got too big for her Top Doctor-related boots and asked for a massive pay rise. Anglia refused, so Vanessa left for the BBC, who coughed up for a £2.7 million contract for her to present ‘The Vanessa Show’, which was screened immediately before ‘Kilroy’. The ‘Kilroy’ which on a number of occasions starred one Dr Dafydd Alun Jones as a ‘medical expert’. Kilroy, we sat in our sitting rooms in Gwynedd and tears of laughter ran down our cheeks, as you rushed around the studio with a microphone, asking Dafydd what his opinion was. It was hilarious, this mad old bugger who had threatened us, tried to bribe us, said the craziest things to numerous people and told people that they had manic depressive insanity or were suffering from cannabis psychosis because they had been on the mari-jew-ana, was on the tele with an orange narcissist who was doing a sincere face for the cameras whilst crucifying distressed people who had suffered at the hands of the likes of Dafydd.

Meanwhile, Anglia TV filled the space that Vanessa had vacated with ‘Trisha’, someone else who pretended to be concerned at the problems of what Blair called the underclass. The underclass certainly made good tele. Trisha later had a breakdown and I seem to remember that she was married to a Top Doc who was involved with some sort of scandal.

Vanessa and Trisha both had problems with members of their studio audience who were experiencing complex psychosexual problems actually being students from UEA who had found a source of fun.

The genre of course culminated in ‘Kyle’, in which the odious Jeremy Kyle – who was a student at the University of Surrey at about the time that I worked there – insults the dispossessed and yells at them to SHUD UP or even ‘get a hair cut’.

Kyle has been outed as having various personal problems, such an excessive drinking and gambling. Some people got very excited when there were allegations that the married Kyle had entered into liaisons with teenagers and had fessed up to having a ‘fumble’ because what bloke wouldn’t. Well I can beat those revelations. Kyle’s show often features people with drug problems and a thuggish looking man in a sharp suit whom I think is called Graham doubles up as the show’s ‘psychologist’ who organises ‘aftercare’. There has been concern expressed by other psychologists about Graham’s ethics. After the addicts have had a good row with their nearest and dearest on camera and everybody has collapsed in tears, Kyle offers addicts a final chance and tells them that The Car is waiting outside to take them to a rehab clinic, but they’ve got to make the decision NOW and promise their poor old mum that they’re ready to change. Then the addict is bundled into a huge contraption with blacked out windows and is driven away at speed.

I took it for granted that the rehab clinic which was offering the guests on Kyle their last hope would be run by the usual hopeless uninterested Top Docs, but I am delighted to announce that Kyle surpassed himself. Some of those addicts were taken to Dafydd’s ‘detox unit’ in Wrexham, Hafan Wen. I know because I knew someone who was there when a guest from Kyle arrived…

The best that money can buy:

Dr Dafydd Alun Jones

Vanessa’s happy-ever-after with the Top Doc who had links to those concealing a paedophile gang fell apart when she found out that Kurer had been shagging one of his junior doctors. Kurer made some incredibly cruel comments about Vanessa which reflected rather more badly on him than they did on her, no matter how awful she is.

The Kurer-Feltz family home was in St John’s Wood in London and Feltz still lives in St John’s Wood. Sir Ronnie Waterhouse lived in St John’s Wood for years and was President of the St John’s Wood Society. Many of Sir Ronnie’s neighbours were celebs or members of the judiciary. Dr Jonathan Miller also lives in St John’s Wood.

Whilst Vanessa colonised the BBC, Jimmy Savile was doing his worst. Savile visited Bryn Estyn and one boy claimed that he was sexually assaulted by a group of men for Savile’s entertainment. After everybody else admitted that Savile and Rolf Harris were molesters, Vanessa came out of the closet and alleged that Rolf had groped her. Rolf Harris has links to Anglesey and held an art exhibition there, which was attended by Meri Huws, who is now the Welsh Language Commissioner. Meri was a social worker for Gwynedd County Council during the 1980s when the Council’s children’s homes were being run by the paedophile gang (see post ‘Are You Local?’). Rolf has spoken about the possibility of moving to live on Anglesey.

What a pity that Vanessa didn’t mention the name Jimmy Savile when she appeared so many time on TV to tell us how wonderful Top Docs were.

The constituency MP for Totteridge whilst Vanessa and her family lived there was Tory Reginald Maudling, who had to resign as Ted Heath’s Home Secretary as a result of Maudling’s involvement in John Poulson’s corrupt business practices. Maudling had held Cabinet positions – including that of Chancellor of the Exchequer – under Harold Macmillan and was linked to both the Profumo Affair and to Jeremy Thorpe. See post ‘Another Episode Of Friends…’ for further details re Reginald Maudling.

Totteridge was home to a number of celebs, including Cilla’s friend Cliff Richard.

Another Date for Your Diary is 2 June 1944, the day on which Sir Peter Morrison was born. Morrison went to Eton and Keble College, Oxford, where he read law. So Morrison, along with all the other lawyers in Thatcher’s Gov’t – including Thatcher herself – did know that participating in sex parties with children and killing witnesses was illegal.

Lord Margadale, John Morrison, was Sir Peter Morrison’s father. He was born on 16 Dec 1906 and died on 25 May 1996. William Hague announced that there was to be a Public Inquiry into the abuse of children in care in north Wales towards the end of May in 1996.

John Morrison was the son of Hugh Morrison and Lady Mary Leveson-Gower, daughter of the Liberal statesman Granville Leveson-Gower, 2nd Earl Granville. Hugh Morrison was the Tory MP for Wilton for a brief time in 1918 and then for Salisbury, 1918-31. Hugh Morrison was one of the wealthiest men in the UK and the family seat was at Fonthill in Wiltshire.

John Morrison was educated at Eton – as was his father – and Magdalene College, Cambridge. He served in the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry in WWII. John Morrison served as the Tory MP from Salisbury, 1942-65 and was Chairman of the highly influential 1922 Committee, 1955-64.

John Morrison began owning and breeding horses in 1952 and established the Fonthill Stud in 19th century stables on his estate, which has produced winners of several classic races. He also led a reorganisation of the Jockey Club.

Sir Ronnie Waterhouse’s wife’s family bred racehorses and Ronnie ensured that he got to know everyone who was worth knowing in that business.

Lord Margadale married the Hon Margaret Smith, daughter of William Smith – known as Frederick – the 2nd Viscount Hambleden. William Smith’s father William Henry Smith founded THE WH Smith, the shop recently voted the worst on the planet. William Smith was the sole inheritor of the business. For years WH Smith took a hard line on what they felt was indecent material ie. soft porn and also refused to stock ‘Private Eye’.

In 1891, Frederick Smith also succeeded his father as MP for the Strand, holding the seat until Jan 1910. Frederick Smith was targeted for blackmail by the notorious poisoner Dr. Thomas Neill Cream, who (writing under an assumed name) claimed to have proof that Smith had poisoned a prostitute. This was one of three known attempts at blackmail that may have been the real motive for Cream’s string of poisonings in the Stepney and Lambeth areas of London from Oct 1891 to April 1892. They played a role in the final arrest, prosecution, and conviction of Cream at the Old Bailey in October 1892 and his execution the following month.

I do hope that Thomas Cream really was a blackmailer and a serial poisoner and not someone who had evidence that the MP for the Strand and the owner of WH Smith had poisoned a prostitute.

Frederick Smith married Esther nee Gore, a daughter of Arthur Gore, 5th Earl of Arran, an Anglo-Irish peer. Esther’s sisters were Lady Mabell Gore, (1866–1956), wife of the 11th Earl of Airlie and a Lady-of-the-Bedchamber to Queen Mary; Lady Cicely Gore (1867–1955), wife of the 4th Marquess of Salisbury and an Extra Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Alexandra. One can never have enough Ladies of the Bedchamber. Frederick and Esther had a son, William Henry Smith, who succeeded Frederick as 3rd Viscount Hambleden.

Arthur Gore’s son was Arthur Gore, 6th Earl of Arran. The 6th Earl’s son, yet another Arthur Gore, ie. the 7th Earl of Arran, killed himself at the age of 55 on 28 Dec 1958, nine days after his father’s death. The 7th Earl was unmarried and reportedly killed himself because he was gay.

After Arthur Gore killed himself, his younger brother became 8th Earl Arran. The 8th Earl was known as ‘Boofy’, although wiki tells us that he was called Arthur. There seem to be a great many people called Arthur Gore in this family, but surely even this lot would not have called two of their sons Arthur Gore. I can’t be completely certain of that though, because they don’t seem to have been on the same planet as everyone else. Boofy was considered to have been quite mad by everyone around him and sadly had a very serious alcohol problem.

Boofy did make history however, as a high profile campaigner in the Lords to reform the laws on homosexuality. In 1965 Boofy sponsored a homosexual law reform bill, although the bill ran out of Parliamentary time. Boofy worked with Allan Horsfall and Antony Grey in CHE (the Campaign for Homosexual Equality). Grey remembered that Boofy was incredibly useful because he ‘was related to everyone’ and was happy to enlist the help of his many aristocratic relatives for campaigning purposes. Boofy was also a Conservative whip in the Lords which will have helped.

Boofy sponsored the Labour MP Leo Abse’s private members bill to decriminalize homosexuality between consenting adult men. It was this bill which eventually formed the 1967 Sexual Offences Act. Boofy was married to Fiona Gore, a Scottish power boat racer. Described by Harold Macmillan as ‘the prettiest girl he had ever seen’, Fiona married Sir Arthur (Kattendyke Strange David Archibald) ‘Boofy’ Gore in 1937. In 1958 Boofy succeeded his brother to become the 8th Earl of Arran.

Boofy and Fiona also had a thing about badgers. They kept them as pets and as well as his work on homosexual law reform, Boofy campaigned for the protection of badgers and piloted the Badger Protection Bill through Parliament.

But Boofy Arran became best known in the 1960s for his weekly column in the ‘London Evening News’ (where he was sometimes billed as ‘The Earl You Love To Hate’). This ran until 1978, when he suffered a stroke, a misfortune he blamed on his daily intake of a half-bottle of champagne before lunch.

The Arrans had a ‘remarkable’ home, ‘Pimlico’, near Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire. Lady Arran kept a sizeable menagerie there. Wallabies, pot-bellied pigs, llamas and alpacas, caged birds (including a macaw which volunteered rude comments on proceedings, and others that uttered further expletives), horses, a fox and assorted dogs completed a bustling scene. The family wore gumboots in the house to fend off their brood of ankle-nipping badgers.

Lady Arran always called her current favourite badger Rosie. A succession of these creatures visited, and left a mark on, the smartest houses in England. Drawn as ever to the lochside, Lady Arran kept a small house on the Isle of Inchconnachan on Loch Lomond. She boated the loch while her badgers lived beneath the veranda, chasing people hurrying to the jetty.

Meanwhile, Fiona Arran continued to win speed boat competitions, eventually completing the Round Britain offshore race, a demanding event even for the fit young men who made up the other contestants.

Boofy died in 1983. The elder of their two sons, the 9th Earl of Arran, survives her. Fiona Arran died in May 2013.

The 9th Earl Arran, Arthur Connelly-Gore, is the son of Arthur Gore, 8th Earl Arran and the former Fiona Colquhoun, first daughter of Sir Iain Colquhoun. He was educated at Teon and Balliol College, Oxford. He served in the Grenadier Guards. Lord Arran was the assistant manager of the ‘Daily Mail’, then assistant general manager of the ‘Daily Express’ and the ‘Sunday Express’ in the 1970s. He was a Director of Waterstone’s.

Arthur Connelly-Gore succeeded as 9th Earl of Arran on 23 Feb 1983, upon the death of his father. In the Lords, Lord Arran has played an active role for the Conservative Party, serving in several junior ministerial roles.

On 28 Sept 1974, Arran married Eleanor van Cutsem, daughter of Bernard van Cutsem and Lady Margaret Fortescue. Bernard had two sons, Hugh and Geoffrey, from his first marriage to Mary Compton. The late Hugh van Cutsem was close mate of Carlo’s. Geoffrey van Cutsem married Sally McCorquodale, sister of Neil McCorquodale, the husband of Lady Sarah Spencer, the elder sister of Diana, Princess of Wales. Bernard van Cutsem was a racehorse breeder, so I expect that Sir Ronnie Waterhouse knew him as well.

Lord and Lady Arran have two daughters, one of whom is Lady Laura Melissa Fortescue-Gore, born 14 June 1975, who married Major James Duckworth-Chad, who’s maternal great-grandfather was Albert Spencer, 7th Earl Spencer, the paternal grandfather of Diana, on 16 October 2004. They have four children.

Allan Horsfall, with whom Boofy campaigned, came from Lancashire, sat as a Bolton Councillor and set up the North Western Homosexual Law Reform Society, which later became CHE. Horsfall joined the Labour Party in 1956 and ran CHE, 1971-74 and then became President for life.

Antony Grey became Secretary of CHE in 1962 – David Astor gave him a job as a sub editor on The Observer. Antony Grey is an assumed name – like Horsfall, he cohabited with a male partner for years, who has never been identified in public.

The Chester branch of CHE was believed to be a front for paedophilia and many gay men left the branch because of this. A leading member of the Chester CHE branch was jailed for abusing boys in care in north Wales.

An article from ‘The Guardian’ in 2007 stated that Leo Abse claimed that Roy Jenkins wanted Michael Foot to pilot a homosexual law reform bill through Parliament. Abse alleged that Woy wanted to bog Foot down because he was a leadership rival. Woy concealed the paedophile gangs in Wales both as Home Secretary and in other roles. Abse was ‘great friends’ with Foot. Abse stated that he kept ‘the mining MPs’, who were perceived to be unsympathetic to homosexual law reform, away from the votes by ‘calling in all my debts’. Abse was mates with the Chief Whip John Silkin, who ensured that sufficient Parliamentary time was allowed for the bill. Thus the Sexual Offences Bill 1967 was passed.

John Silkin’s brother Samuel Silkin, was Attorney General, 1974-79.

Abse was applauded for being a champion of homosexual law reform, but Abse might have had rather different motivations for this than was assumed. Abse was investigated for historical sex offences against children himself. He was also close friends with George Thomas and concealed Thomas’s offences against children and young people for years. Abse was a crooked lawyer and he lied to the press, threatened to fit people up and paid off others in order to keep George Thomas out of trouble. See post ‘It wasn’t On Our Radar’.

Just as worrying was the way in which Leo Abse, virtually single-handedly, manipulated Harold Wilson as well as Audrey and Jim Callaghan into allowing Abse to dominate the Houghton Committee, ensure that those who ‘advised’ the Committee were no more than a collection of associates of Dafydd and the paedophiles. The Houghton Committee led to the Children Act 1975, which did not protect children but instead paved the way for a boom in children’s homes across the whole of north Wales, homes which were virtually all infiltrated with paedophiles (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’).

Abse was a highly manipulative and exploitative man, who in very old age married a woman decades younger than himself who in some ways was obviously quite vulnerable. In an interview with ‘The Guardian’ after his 90th birthday celebrations, Abse stated that the gay community had showed a total lack of gratitude towards him for his successful campaigning on their behalf and that none of them even sent him a birthday message.

I suspect that many gay people considered Abse to be an abusive man who was colluding with crimes against young people whilst at the same time ensuring Labour Party support in south Wales. George Thomas was a friend of Harold Wilson’s and a very effective political campaigner. If George Thomas had been exposed as a child molester, support for the Labour Party in south Wales would have plummeted.

Michael Foot was mocked as Worzel Gummidge by the right wing tabloids in the 1980s, but when he was younger, he too was a very competent political strategist. He knew what George Thomas and Dafydd and the paedophile gang were doing, but ignored it. Even radical politicians in those days did not care too much what was happening to kids in care, prisoners and mental health patients if supporting them meant losing votes. There are indications that Michael Foot himself was involved in sexual activity which would have caused a scandal if it had ever been made public. Foot had worked as a journalist for many years and had links to the security services. He was known to have made it clear to the press that if certain matters were published about him, he would make public equally incriminating information about people like Lord Beaverbrook and Lord Rothermere.

Politicians from all parties were all involved in so much sexual exploitation that they didn’t dare blow the whistle on each other.

Peter Morrison had two bothers, Charles and James.

Sir Charles Morrison was the Tory MP for Devizes, 1964-92. After Eton and National Service in the Life Guards, Charles Morrison went up to Cambridge for two years, but left, explaining later that ‘I was just wasting my time and didn’t feel like a third year… But I did leave voluntarily.’ He then trained at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, before starting work on managing the family estates.

In 1958, Morrison became a member of Wiltshire County Council and chaired its Education Committee in 1963-64. He entered Parliament in May 1964 at a by-election for Devizes which followed the death of Percivall Pott, holding the seat for the Conservatives against all opinion poll forecasts and against the trend in three other by-elections held on the same day. This was put down to his being well-known, popular and active in the constituency. His campaign had the support of Ian Fleming, a relation by marriage of Morrison’s wife Sara, who wrote an article called ‘To Westminster with Love’ beginning with the words ‘Charles Morrison – Licensed to Kill.’

Soon after his election to Parliament, Morrison supported Heath’s bid for the party leadership. When his party returned to power under Heath in 1970, Morrison was not given a job in Gov’t In 1966, Morrison bought Fyfield Manor near Pewsey in Wiltshire from the former PM Anthony Eden.  As a landowner and Conservative Party MP Morrison’s moderate views did not find favour with Thatch. He continued as MP for Devizes until his retirement in 1992, when he was succeeded by Michael Ancram. He was knighted in 1988.

Morrison married firstly, on 28 Oct 1954, Antoinette Sara Frances Sibell Long, the only child of the 2nd Viscount Long and his wife Viscountess (Frances) Laura Long (nee Charteris), granddaughter of Hugo Charteris, 11th Earl of Wemyss. They had two children, but the marriage ended in divorce.

Lord Martin Charteris was the grandson of Hugo Charteris. He was an Old Etonian and former lieutenant colonel who was the younger brother of the 12th Earl of Wemyss. In 1950, Charteris was appointed Private Secretary to Princess Elizabeth, heiress to the British throne. From Lilibet’s accession in 1952 until 1972, Charteris served as her Assistant Private Secretary under Sir Michael Adeane. On Adeane’s retirement in 1972, Charteris was promoted to Private Secretary. He held this post until his retirement in 1977 and returned to Eton as its Provost.

Charteris gave an interview to ‘The Spectator’ in 1995, in which he described the Duchess of York as ‘vulgar, vulgar, vulgar’, the Prince of Wales as ‘whiney’ and the Queen Mum as ‘a bit of an ostrich’. Gawd bless ‘er.

In 1984 Charles Morrison married secondly Rosalind Elizabeth Ward (née Lygon). They also divorced.

Charles’s brother James Morrison, who succeeded his father as 2nd Baron Margadale, was commissioned into the Life Guards in 1949, before transferring into the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry.

James Morrison took over the Fonthill Stud from his father in 1972 and had a successful career on the Turf as the breeder of three Classic winners at his stud. Two of his fillies, which he also owned, won the Oaks at Epsom, one ridden by Lester Piggott who won the race in 1975.

James Ian Morrison was born on July 17 1930. His father, the 1st Lord Margadale, was, as John Morrison, the Conservative MP for Salisbury from 1942-64. In 1972 John Morrison predicted to one of his sons: ‘Mark my words, Margaret Thatcher will be the next leader of the party.’

Peter Morrison was a friend of Thatcher’s and was one of her strongest supporters in her 1975 leadership campaign.

The Morrisons lived at Fonthill House in Wiltshire but they also own the 80,000-acre Isle of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. Here James spent much of his childhood; he loved Islay for the rest of his life, spending as much time as he could there.

After Ludgrove and Eton, James was educated at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.

James Morrison was a keen polo player into his thirties. His interests beyond the Turf included shooting and hunting. He particularly enjoyed shooting woodcock on Islay, but lamented the decline of grouse on the island. He was for many years President of the South and West Wilts Hunt.

Particularly proud of his association with the Territorial Army, James was Honorary Colonel of the Royal Wilts Yeomanry. He was also a member of the Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland from 1960.

A number of Dafydd’s associates in north Wales were in the TA.

James Morrison was a County Councillor for Wiltshire in 1955 and from 1973-77, as well as Chairman of the West Wilts Conservative Association, 1967-71.

Morrison’s involvement in racing went beyond breeding. From 1969-80, he was Chairman of Tattersalls Committee, ruling on betting disputes. Morrison was also Chairman of Wincanton racecourse and acted as a steward at many of the major race meetings, including Royal Ascot.

Morrison succeeded as the 2nd Lord Margadale on the death of his father in 1996. He married, in 1952, Clare Barclay, with whom he had three children. Their daughter, Fiona, is married to Hugh, the 3rd Viscount Trenchard, who has had a career in the City; their younger son is the trainer, Hughie Morrison. Their elder son, Alastair John Morrison, born in 1958, succeeded as the 3rd Lord Margadale in April 2003 and was appointed Deputy Lieutenant for Wiltshire in the same year.

Alastair married, firstly, Lady Sophia Cavendish, daughter of Andrew Cavendish, 11th Duke of Devonshire and The Honourable Deborah Mitford, on 19 July 1988. They had two children: The Honourable Declan James Morrison (born 11 July 1993) and The Honourable Nancy Lorna Morrison (born 22 January 1995). Alastair married, secondly, Amanda Fuller, daughter of Michael Fuller, on 2 September 1999.

I note the link between James Morrison, brother of a child molester who enjoyed the protection of the highest echelons of the British state and Lester Piggott, the outstanding jockey, who was famously hung out to dry in the mid-1980s.

Piggott retired as a jockey at the end of the 1985 flat season and became a trainer. His Eve Lodge stables housed 97 horses and sent out 34 winners. His burgeoning new career as a trainer was ended when he was convicted of tax fraud and jailed for three years on 22 Oct 1987. Piggott served 366 days. According to Piggott, a commonly held belief that he was prosecuted after using an undeclared bank account to make a final settlement of his tax liabilities is a myth. He was stripped of his OBE which he had been awarded in 1975.

There was much comment at the time regarding the harshness with which Piggott was treated. Police mugshots of Piggott in custody were leaked to the press and much was made of Lilibet stripping him of his OBE. The UK is crawling with people in possession of honours who hung onto them after doing far worse than Lester Piggott. Furthermore, in Feb 1991, HM Lilibet knighted the brother of James Morrison, whom it was known was molesting children in north Wales and elsewhere.

When Lester Piggott was put on trial and imprisoned, Alison Taylor and I were shouting as loudly as we could about Dafydd’s crimes in north Wales. Mary Wynch had won a case against Dafydd and the paedophiles. Just three months before Lester Piggott was jailed, Tuppence and Lady Mary had lied their arses off in court.

Lester Piggott was sentenced by Mr Justice Farquharson at Ipswich Crown Court. When a barrister, Sir Donald Farquharson acted mostly for the Crown and among those he prosecuted was Cynthia Payne of Ambleside Avenue. At Payne’s sentencing in 1980, Farquharson told the judge how a succession of respectable men — including a peer, an Irish MP, barristers, solicitors and ‘several vicars’ — had beaten a path to her door. Consultants at St George’s Hospital who were colluding with the gang who supplied kids to Peter Morrison beat a path to Cynthia’s door as well.

A ‘scrupulously fair’ prosecutor, Farquharson conceded that Cynthia’s brothel was ‘well run’ and that there was no question of coercion or corruption of young people. He then described how customers were treated to an all-in ‘luncheon voucher’ scheme, which entitled them to eat and drink, watch a live sex show and films (‘Horse-lover’, ‘Bizarre Taste’, ‘Black Power’ and so forth) and have sex with one of the girls.

Cynthia Payne was sentenced her to 18 months’ imprisonment, which was reduced to six months and a fine on appeal.

Cynthia was raided again in 1986 and stood trial in 1987 but didn’t go to prison. Some of those working on the case were angry that she wasn’t jailed. I think that there were far too many careers at stake for Cynthia to have been jailed again in 1987, particularly after all that embarrassment with Oliver Brooke. So Lester Piggott was jailed instead and made persona non-grata. Just in case he ever felt like telling anyone what Sir Peter Morrison and his associates were doing.

Someone in Lester Piggott’s position would also have knowledge of other crimes – such as doping race horses.

The Torygraph magazine today has a feature on the current Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, the son of Peter Morrison’s mate. The Torygraph have printed a nice photo of Hugh as a baby with his mum and dad, taken in Feb 1991. The month that Peter Morrison was knighted and that my career was destroyed, as well as those of two other witnesses!

Hugh told the Torygraph all about the fruition of his father’s vision, the new Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre (DNRC) for injured servicemen on the Notts-Leicestershire border. The DNCR is costing £300 million. Hugh’s father committed £50 million to it and Hugh has added a further £20 million through the Westminster Foundation, the Grosvenor family charity. Some of the money for the DNCR has come from the Libor fund. Dafydd’s charity CAIS was given a couple of million from the Libor fund, after CAIS lied about the services for which the monies were being requested (see post ‘George Osborne Enters The Picture’).

The DNCR was designed by architects John Simpson and the US firm Steffian Bradley. We are told that ‘Simpson’s style’ can be seen at Buck House and at  Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.

The Torygraph explains that the 2nd Duke, Hugh ‘Bendor’ Grosvenor,  was a friend of Winston Churchill and a lover of Coco Chanel. Today, the Grosvenor estate has investments in more than 60 cities around the world. The estate owns 145,000 acres in Oxfordshire, Cheshire, Lancashire, Scotland and Spain and is valued at close to £10 billion.

Hugh Grosvenor was educated near the family seat in Cheshire. He attended Eccleston Primary School, a state school near Chester and then Ellesmere College, before studying countryside management at Newcastle-upon-Tyne University.

Ellesmere College is one of the campuses of West Cheshire College. The former Associate Principal of West Cheshire College is Alun Pugh. Pugh was the Labour AM for Clwyd West, 1999-07 and was Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport. Pugh grew up in south Wales, then moved to live in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, then moved to north Wales. There was a paedophile gang in operation in the north east with strong connections to Dafydd et al in north Wales.

Alun Pugh is the former partner of Meri Huws, that former Gwynedd social worker who’s colleagues facilitated the paedophile gang which operated in north Wales/Cheshire. Further details of Alun and Meri’s beautiful mutually exploitative relationship can be read in my post ‘People With Energy’.

You appear to have a full house Alun – colleagues, partner and former student who were all directly linked to concealing the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal. Alun Pugh always looks as though he is in a dreadful strop:

BBC NEWS | UK | Wales | Good night, bad night after poll

In terms of paedophiles in distress sending for reinforcements who are celebs, in the mid-1990s, the Gateshead born footballer Paul Gascoine enjoyed cult status. On 9 June, 1994, Matt Arnold, the former Head of Bryn Estyn, died of an ‘unspecified blood disease’. On 13 June, 1994, his friend and colleague Peter Howarth – along with Paul Wilson – went on trial for abusing kids in Bryn Estyn. Arnold and Howarth had both worked at Axwell Park Approved School, Gateshead, before relocating to Bryn Estyn in 1973. Kids were abused at Axwell Park. Turning Gazza into a celeb backfired on the paedophiles’ friend when it transpired that Gazza had one hell of a problem with alcohol and a mood disorder.

Hugh is Prince George’s godfather and his sister, Lady Viola Grosvenor, works with the charity Kidscape. Working for charidee is a fine Grosvenor tradition. Whilst he concealed a paedophile gang who murdered witnesses, Hugh’s dad Gerald was involved with numerous charidees, including:

  • President, Scope (formerly the Spastics Society), 1982–2005.
  • President, National Kidney Research Fund, 1985–97.
  • President, Royal National Institute for the Blind,1986–2012.
  • President, Drugs and Alcohol Foundation, 1987–97.
  • Life Vice-President, NSPCC, 1988 until death.
  • President, Life Education Centre (Drug Prevention), 2000–12.
  • All of these charidees concealed the abuse of vulnerable people.
  • Gerald Grosvenor was a Committee member of the Board of Nuffield Hospitals, from 1995 until his death. There was a Nuffield Hospital in Chester – the Grosvenor Nuffield. Dafydd worked there in the 1990s.

Despite being very rich, Gerald Grosvenor was one of the peers who mobilised the Lords to wave through Thatcher’s Poll Tax legislation when it looked in danger of defeat. There was outrage in some parts of the UK as peers arrived at the Lords from the shires – some of them in taxis – as a result of their determination that Thatcher’s brain wave which would save them a few bob would be enshrined in law. Some of the peers who rolled up to do their duty had only ever previously bothered to go to the Lords three or four times in their lives. Never mind, it backfired – it was the Poll Tax that was the downfall of Thatch. Gerald later left the Tory Party anyway when the Tories altered taxation methods, leaving Gerald liable for income tax, which he had previously managed to avoid paying.

Prince William is a Patron of DNCR. The project director is General Sir Tim Granville-Chapman, a former MoD Vice-Chief of Defence Staff. Hugh explained to the Torygraph that there is a lake at the DNCR, because his father ‘believed in the soothing power of water and there’s lots of clinical research to suggest that he was right about that’. Is that so Hugh? Which research is that then, could you give me the references? Furthermore, if clinical research has shown any such thing, why doesn’t every mental health unit in the country have a lake? The Menai Strait and coast off north Wales are lovely if you’re in good health, but a number of psychiatric patients have drowned themselves in those particular bodies of water, so perhaps they didn’t benefit from the clinical research that you’ve based the design of the DNCR on.

The Torygraph explains that the DNCR will soon be expanded to take ‘civilian patients’. Just like Dafydd’s ‘nursing homes’ for ‘veterans’ (see post ‘Feet In Chains’)! The DNCR will be providing the ‘service’ at a cost to the taxpayer of £22 million/yr. Dame Carol Black, the Principal of Newnham College, Cambridge, wrote a recent review of services which was used to support the work of the DNCR.

Carol Black is a Top Doctor who was at Bristol Medical School at the same time as D.G.E. Wood. After qualifying she worked at Hammersmith Hospital, along with those people committing research fraud and others who were having sex with their bosses in return for jobs (see post ‘Interesting Facts’). Dear old Carol then ended up at the Royal Free Hospital, where she became the Medical Director. The Royal Free Hospital where I was interviewed in the late 1980s and discovered that the interviewing panel had info about me which could only have come from D.G.E Wood, Dafydd, Tony Francis or Gwynne the lobotomist.

Dame Carol constructs herself as a Wimmin’s Champ. So that was why there was so much unhappiness with obstetric care at the Royal Free that there were demos and public protests outside of the hospital by wimmin furious at the crap care on offer there.

The Dame retired in 2002, but the nightmare was not over by a long way. The Dame was the genius behind the disastrous junior doctors training scheme ‘Modernising Medical Careers’, which ended in such chaos that New Labour had to scrap it, after spending millions.

The next move by Blair was obvious – he asked the Dame to lead the DoH on revamping the sickness benefits system. It needed revamping, but the Dame was not the person to do it. The Dame doesn’t believe that conditions such as depression and anxiety exist because the symptoms aren’t observable. Many people have disputed that, but even if the symptoms aren’t visible to the naked eye, that does not mean that there’s nothing there. Presumably the Dame has taken a leaf out of the book of Florence Nightingale, who didn’t believe in germs because things that small could not exist. So off went Florence to give the injured soldiers another dose of the deadly lamp.

Neither does the Dame hold with sick notes. The Dame demanded that fit notes should be issued instead. Furthermore, the outsourcing companies such as Crapita and Atos should be the ones to issue the fit notes. So we have the Dame to thank for the suicides of disabled people that, it has been admitted, have resulted from badly trained Crapita  and Atos ‘assessors’ deeming people with severe disabilities as being fit for work, because they can perform tasks such as ‘eating unaided’ or ‘standing up from a sitting position’.

Here’s the Dame in a standing position with a smug expression on her face, demonstrating that she’s fit for work as the Principal of a Cambridge College:

Interesting Facts

I have mentioned previously that one of my favourite satires is ‘Entirely A Matter For You’, Peter Cook’s send up of the judge who presided over Jeremy Thorpe’s trial. Cook performed his sketch at ‘The Secret Policeman’s Ball’, a 1979 fundraiser for Amnesty International. The irony is that people involved with Amnesty and even some of those who performed in ‘The Secret Policeman’s Ball’ knew about the barrel of crap which was concealed at the highest levels and resulted in Thorpe’s acquittal.

At ‘The Secret Policeman’s Ball’ Cook also performed ‘Interesting Facts’, in which he played a man on a park bench imparting various ‘facts’ – such as ‘did you know that your intestine is four miles long’ and that ‘because the food travels down at one mile per hour, it take’s four hours to digest’ to an increasingly irritated John Cleese.

Despite blogging so extensively about the paedophiles’ friends, readers might be surprised to learn that there are still many links and loose ends that I have not yet covered. So here’s a post of Interesting Facts – unlike Peter Cook’s Interesting Facts, these are correct – to plug just a few of the gaps.

Previous posts have mentioned Professor Hugh Bentall, the cardiac surgeon at Hammersmith Hospital/Royal Postgraduate Medical School, who converted his secretary into his mistress and arranged for her to do a degree and then a PhD in anatomy. The secretary-turned-mistress was subsequently given a job at RPMS as a lecturer in anatomy, behaved appallingly and pissed everyone off but was untouchable because of whom she had slept with for so many years.

Hugh Bentall was a very big name in medicine, he pioneered open heart surgery. On April 17 1953, Bentall became the first British heart surgeon to carry out an open heart operation. Along with Professor Bill Cleland, Bentall made history when he successfully operated on a 30 yr old woman with a blocked aortic valve. The operation was performed using the newly developed heart-lung machine, which was the result of Bentall’s colleague Professor Denis Melrose’s ingenuity, another first for British medicine and indeed for Hammersmith Hospital/RPMS.

After demobilisation in 1947, Hugh Bentall taught anatomy at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School until 1950. He then joined Hammersmith/RPMS as an assistant to Professor Ian Aird in general and thoracic surgery. At the same time, Bentall was involved in research to develop cardiac surgery and, with Aird and Melrose, developed the heart-lung machine.

Bentall and his colleagues from the Hammersmith cardiac team became world famous when, in April 1959, at the height of the Cold War, they travelled to Moscow to demonstrate their newly developed surgical technique, using their newly invented heart-lung machine. Bentall was assistant surgeon, Denis Melrose was the physiologist, Bill Cleland was the surgeon, John Beard was the anaethetist and Arthur Hollman was the cardiologist.

The Hammersmith team held the demonstration at the Institute of Cardiac Surgery at Leninsky Prospekt. Prof A.N. Bakulev from Moscow had seen the heart-lung machine, wanted to buy one and start open heart surgery in Moscow, so he invited Bentall et al over. The Hammersmith team carried out five open heart operation on adults and children, watched by more than 200 surgeons from across the Soviet Union. It was thought to be the first time that foreign doctors had worked in the Soviet Union and the event received huge media coverage, both in Russia and the UK. It made the front page of ‘Pravda’ and the front page of The Daily Torygraph.

It was a coup for both Gov’ts. In Britain at that time the PM was Harold Macmillan. In 1963 Macmillan’s Gov’t became mired in scandal as a result of the Profumo Affair, the centre of which were concerns regarding national security resulting from events in 1961 including War Minister Jack Profumo’s affair with 19 year old Christine Keeler. Christine and her friend Mandy Rice-Davies were call girls who were sleeping with many other people at the same time, including a Soviet naval attache who was suspected of being a spy. It was revealed that there had been much interesting action at Lord Astor’s country seat Cliveden, involving Gov’t Ministers, aristocrats, members of the Royal Family, alleged spies and call girls. Osteopath Stephen Ward was the biggest scapegoat and ended up dead in questionable circumstances. The scandal eventually brought down Harold Macmillan’s Gov’t in 1963. See post ‘In Memoriam – Bronwen, Lady Astor’ for details.

Good news about British Heroics was badly needed from 1961 onward as the gossip and scandal about Profumo and his associates escalated.

On 22 March 1961 Bentall and his team appeared on a programme in the BBC documentary series ‘Your Life In Their Hands’, where he performed an operation to repair a hole in the heart. Three years later Bentall was appointed Professor of Cardiac Surgery at Hammersmith/RPMS.

The DG of the BBC, 1960-69, was Sir Hugh Carleton Greene. Greene became famous for doing battle with Mary Whitehouse, who believed that she was seeing ‘filth’ on the BBC. Greene was a former Berlin correspondent for The Torygraph who then joined the BBC in 1940 as Head of the German Service.

Greene presented news and discussion programmes and became fairly well known in Europe in this role. From 1941 he helped to smooth the relationship between the BBC and the Political Warfare Executive, (PWE), whose goals were somewhat at odds: the BBC strove for accurate, unbiased journalism whereas the PWE was largely concerned with propaganda.

Following the war, Greene helped with the rebuilding of German broadcasting infrastructure in the British Occupied Zone. With the Cold War developing, he was given the task of leading the BBC’s East European Service and produced propaganda for the British Army in Malaya during the Communist uprising in 1947.

Greene returned to the BBC in the 1950s and started as Director of Administration. In 1958 he become Director of News and Current Affairs and was appointed Director-General two years later. The news department had come to be known as the ‘Kremlin of the BBC’ and a secret BBC document was leaked to the competing Independent Television Authority (ITA) in which concerns were voiced about the financial interests of newspapers in ITV companies. Greene learned of the leak from a Ivone Kirkpatrick, the Chairman of the ITA. (Kirkpatrick had been a member of the PWE, Head of the BBC’s wartime European Services and High Commissioner of the British Occupied Zone in Germany and had worked with Greene many times.)

So Hugh Greene worked for the security services.

Hugh Greene’s brothers were Graham Greene, the novelist, Herbert Greene, the poet and Japanese spy and Raymond Greene, a Top Doctor who was a member of the 1933 Everest expedition. The successful 1953 Everest expedition was announced on the BBC by Raymond Greene. Sir Charles Evans, the Liverpool neurosurgeon and Principal of UCNW whilst the sex trafficking ring operated within that college, was a member of the 1953 Everest expedition. The 1933 Everest expedition was led by Hugh Ruttledge, who also led the 1936 Everest expedition. Tenzing Norgay was a member of Ruttledge’s 1936 expedition and was of course also a member of the 1953 expedition along with Sir Charles Evans.

Charles Evans will have known Raymond Greene, climbing is a small world and in that era, climbing in the Himalayas was a gentleman’s sport pursued by a very select small group of people.

During WWII, Raymond Greene was member of the SOE. So he was working for the security services as well then, as was John Hunt, who was a member of the 1953 Everest expedition with Charles Evans. Raymond Greene was physician to President de Gaulle during de Gaulle’s state visit to England in 1960.

The Chairman of the Governors at the time of the BBC documentary starring Hugh Bentall and his colleagues was Sir Arthur fforde. fforde went to Rugby School and then Trinity College, Oxford. After graduation fforde became a solicitor. He was a partner in Linklaters & Paines (later Linklaters) and helped establish the Unit trust. Sir Arthur was Head of Rugby School, 1948-57, before becoming Chairman of the BBC.

The entry for Hugh Bentall on the Royal College of Surgeons ‘Plarr’s Lives Of The Fellows Online’ tells us exactly what the circumstances were that led to the appointment of Bentall as Professor of Cardiac Surgery at RPMS: ‘a donation from his father’s successful department store at Kingston-upon-Thames financed Hugh’s appointment to a personal chair of cardiac surgery at Hammersmith (the first in England)’.

That is quite some admission from the Royal College of Surgeons. It does however explain what I noticed when I was a postgrad at RPMS in 1986-87; that was, huge resentment towards Bentall from within Hammersmith/RPMS, allegations that he was virtually dictating what happened throughout the whole institution and the references to his family’s wealth.

So what did the Royal College of Surgeons think about Bentall’s surgical skills? Plarr’s ‘Lives Of The Fellows’ tells us that ‘he was technically a good surgeon but would never accept responsibility for any technical problems which might develop in an operation – and his assistants found it difficult to accept this situation’.

‘Technical problems’ developing in an operation can lead to patient death. So when someone pegged out it wasn’t Bentall’s fault.

Here’s the man who purchased himself a Chair, huge influence over a leading medical institution, a career as an internationally renowned cardiac surgeon, influence with the British Gov’t, a mistress and much more besides:

Professor Hugh Bentall

The whole lot was founded upon flogging upmarket goods to the middle classes of Kingston-upon-Thames.

The King’s New Clothes which was Hugh Bentall explains much of the chaos that followed the Bristol Children’s Heart Surgery Scandal involving events in Bristol, 1984-95. The Bristol cardiac surgeons stood accused of operating in a cavalier manner and well beyond their competence, which led to the death of a number of their young patients. Opinions of other surgeons working in the same area were sought, but as accusations and counter-accusations flew, no-one seemed to be able to ascertain for sure whether the Bristol team had been reckless or not. Then allegations were aimed at other children’s heart surgery units – once more, peer assessments were sought, but again, no-one seemed to be able to conclude for certain whether those surgeons had been reckless.

I’ll tell you an Interesting Fact. No-one could come to a firm opinion, because not only was there deception being practised at the highest echelons by so many of these ’eminent surgeons’, but so many of the Top Docs had so much dirt on each other and info regarding the wrongdoing of those at Gov’t level past and present as well as members of the Royal Family, that they just did not dare expose each other.

Hugh Bentall’s colleagues at Hammersmith/RPMS were conducting research frauds and fiddles all over the place, people were being appointed to jobs on the basis of whom they had slept with and some of that lot knew about Dafydd and the paedophile gang and were concealing that as well. Including Hugh Bentall.

My post ‘A Cause Close To Our Hearts’ described a few of the many excesses that I witnessed and was told of at first hand whilst I was a postgrad at Hammersmith, 1986-87. In my post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’ I mentioned Cyril Rooney, an MSc student at RPMS whom, it was alleged by his fellow students, had discovered wrongdoing and as a result had bagged a fully funded place with the Royal College of Surgeons to study for a medicine degree.

It gets better than that. The 70th anniversary of the NHS? Let’s celebrate with Interesting Facts! When I was a postgrad at Hammersmith, I did not go boozing in the medical school bar with everyone else. Partly because I don’t drink much, partly because I had so little money that I couldn’t afford to, but mainly because I had detected much backstabbing among staff and students and I wanted to avoid it. I was however friends with a couple of students who did socialise and told me that the atmosphere was so toxic that I made the right decision to avoid the bar. By the end of the course, many students loathed Professor Sir Nicholas Wright, the Head of the Histopathology Dept which provided most of the input on our course and they alleged serious wrongdoing on his part. Nick Wright later became the Warden of Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry and has been a leading light in CR UK for years (see post ‘Gwlad y Menig Gwynion’).

The postgrads were particularly angry at what they perceived to be the frank racism directed at an Iraqi GP who was an MSc student at RPMS. The staff were as rude as they could be to this man. Nick Wright then demanded that the Iraqi GP carry out a project with him. It was subsequently discovered that the Iraqi GP had made up the data for the project and RPMS told him that he would not be receiving his MSc. The Iraqi man, in his defence, stated that Nick Wright had pressurised him into making up the data. Wright hit the roof and I was told that the Iraqi GP expressed extreme distress at what would happen to his wife and children if he returned to Iraq in disgrace. Iraq was ruled by Saddam Hussein at that time. So Nick Wright thought it would be a real laugh to make the Iraqi GP lick his boots and beg forgiveness before it was agreed that he would be awarded his MSc. It wasn’t a student who told me what Wright had done to the Iraqi GP in the disciplinary hearing – it was a member of staff. They thought that it was hilarious.

A lot of students also fell out with our course tutor, Dr Malcolm Alison. I was told repeatedly that Malcolm was completely unscrupulous and that no-one should trust him ‘further that you can throw him’. It was alleged that one female student had developed a deep and meaningful relationship with Malcolm which enabled her to bag a very nice number with a drug company after she finished the course. I thought that this was just speculation, until it was explained very clearly to me that on the course the previous year, a student feared failing so she ‘offered herself to Malcolm and he did not refuse’. I was given corroborating evidence…

Malcolm, if you did not want this sort of info to ever become public, you should not have colluded with a gang of paedophiles in north Wales. I cannot believe that you thought that the scale of wrongdoing could be kept quiet.

The icing on the cake was when I was told by a senior academic from another university, who was sent on secondment to Hammersmith with a view to his institution collaborating with them, that the collaboration was definitely off because ‘this lot are a bunch of crooks and we’re not going to touch them with a barge pole’.

My post ‘I Don’t Believe It!’ described what I believe was a major research fraud carried out by Professor Dame Julia Polak – an RPMS immunohistocytochemist who was alleged to have been the worst character at RPMS in terms of cheating, lying and shafting people – in collaboration with Sir Magdi Yacoub of Harefield Hospital. The Princess of Wales’s beau of a cardiac surgeon Hasnet Khan ended up working at Harefield after Diana’s death.

How could anyone ever have believed that it was in the ‘national interest’ to conceal all this, lest confidence in the medical profession was damaged?

Hugh Bentall would have had ample opportunity to gain knowledge of wrongdoing in high places before he ever rocked up at the Sodom and Gomorrah that was Hammersmith/RPMS.

Bentall was born in Sussex and educated at Seaford College, Sussex. Many of the paedophiles’ friends had their base or origins in Sussex – Brighton was the location of some of the brothels owned by John Allen to which he trafficked kids in care from north Wales. The firebomb which, in April 1992, killed five witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal, was thrown into a building in Brighton (see post ‘The Silence Of The Welsh Lambs’).

Bentall trained at Bart’s. Which was where Lady Juliet Bingley’s father worked as a surgeon and where Juliet worked as a medical social worker. Juliet Bingley and her son William spent years concealing the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophiles, when the Bingleys worked at MIND and when William Bingley later became Chief Executive of the Mental Health Act Commission (see post ‘MIND Are Out For Mental Health – Never For Themselves Of Course’). Dafydd’s mate and umbrella Professor Linford Rees also worked at Bart’s (see post ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’). Linford’s daughter was the 1970s sex symbol, Angharad Rees, who played Demelza in ‘Poldark’ and put on that rather unconvincing Cornish accent whilst she did it. Angharad was married to actor Christopher Cazenove, who went on to hit Hollywood as an actor in ‘Dynasty’, alongside Joan Collins.

Prof Geoffrey Chamberlain of St George’s Hospital Medical School – who concealed the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophiles as well as a linked paedophile gang in south London – was a personal friend of Cilla Black. I imagine that Chamberlain rubbed noses with many other celebs as well, but the identities of the celeb contacts of the consultants were a closely guarded secret. The friendship with Cilla was openly discussed, because Cilla herself had talked about Chamberlain in media interviews. Cilla provided much good PR for a man who was concealing organised crime, including sex offences against children.

Cilla was a big fan of Thatch – I wouldn’t be surprised if there was personal contact between the two of them. You can’t get much more blatant than sitting on ‘Blind Date’ telling everyone that Thatch ‘has put the Great back into Britain’. Yes Cilla, she was also personal friends with at least two serious sex offenders:

Sir Peter Morrison:

  • Sex

And a man who spent many a Christmas at Chequers:

  • Dark Secrets of Westminster: Challenging British Elite ...
  • goodnessandharmony
  • Le pédophile proxénète avait ses entrées à la cour royale ...

As indeed did this man:

Sex

‘And ‘ere’s our Graham to feed you the latest load of political propaganda whilst he introduces your sex offending dates for tonight’.

When I worked at St George’s Hospital Medical School, one of the senior registrars who worked in Geoffrey Chamberlain’s dept was Jonathan Frappell. I never heard any allegations of misconduct relating to him, but he knew what his colleagues were up to. Jonathan Frappell’s wife Susan is a former Bart’s nurse. After leaving St George’s, Jonathan Frappell was appointed to a consultant’s post in Plymouth at the rather troubled Derriford Hospital. He has now set up his own medico-legal gynaecological consultancy.

Hugh Bentall served as a surgeon-doctor in the Royal Navy, 1945-47. Gwynne the lobotomist served in the Royal Navy, as did Geoffrey Chamberlain. Chamberlain continued his relationship with the Navy as a member of the RNVR for years. My post ‘The Defence Of The Realm’ detailed how many people at senior levels in the Royal Navy or the Admiralty – including Admiral Sir Alec Bingley and Lord Louis Mountbatten – were directly linked with people who concealed organised sexual abuse or were even accused of it themselves.

Bentall worked at Hammersmith/RPMS between 1959 and 1985. After that he taught anatomy at the Royal Free Hospital Medical School until 1989. While Bentall was teaching there, I had an interview at the Royal Free and I noted that they were in possession of information about me which could only have come from Gwynne the lobotomist, Dr D.G.E. Wood, Tony Francis or Dafydd. It wasn’t Top Secret or sensitive info, which is probably why the interviewing panel let it slip – but it could only have come from one of those four people.

Hugh Bentall’s son, as I have mentioned in previous posts, is the clinical psychologist Professor Richard Bentall. Richard Bentall did his first degree in the Dept of Psychology at UCNW and has held a Chair in the School of Psychology at Bangor University. I thought that Richard Bentall had done his clinical psychology training in north Wales, but I need to correct that – he did his clin psych training at Liverpool University.

Bentall did his degree at Bangor whilst Dafydd still ruled the roost in the Psychology Dept. Bentall then stayed on in the Dept to do a PhD in Experimental Psychology. So Richard will know about the sex trafficking gang that Dafydd and a number of staff at UCNW were facilitating. He’ll have known about Dafydd working a fiddle to ensure that his daughter Dwynwen was given a place to do a PhD in the Psychology Dept although her degree wasn’t good enough to have been offered the place. Furthermore, Richard will know that Dafydd tried to embezzle a load of dosh from UCNW and the NHS in order to fund Dwynwen’s place at a private college when Dwynwen was turned down for a clin psych place after her PhD.

Richard Bentall will know about another rather worrying Psychology PhD student at that time too, a young Greek man called Nick. Nick was a bit bonkers; he established a relationship with a local girl who was the single mother of a little boy and Nick was carrying out bizarre  experiments on the little boy. Other PhD students in the Psychology Dept knew about this and were worried about the effect on the boy that Nick’s experimenting was having, but no-one raised any official concerns. Although there probably wouldn’t have been much point, the child protection services in Gwynedd County Council had been hijacked by a paedophile gang run by Dafydd and Dafydd’s mistress Lucille Hughes.

So Richard Bentall finished his PhD at UCNW and did his clin psych training at Liverpool University – Dafydd’s alma mater and domain. After this, Bentall’s wiki entry tells us that he did a ‘brief stint’ working as an NHS forensic psychologist. At that time, the NHS forensic mental health services were choc full of victims of child sexual abuse who were being diagnosed as psychotic and banged up if they talked about what had happened to them. I don’t know where Bentall worked as an NHS forensic psychologist, but I’m wondering if it was at Ashworth Hospital on Merseyside. Because if it was, Bentall needs to make a police statement.

Ashworth served as a personal prison of Dafydd and the paedophiles; the patients were horrendously abused, physically and sexually and at least one patient was beaten to death by the ‘nurses’. The Angels belonged to the POA – many of them were members of the National Front and there was a civil war going on between the Angels, the Top Docs and the clin psychs. The Angels were the biggest thugs, so it was the Top Docs and clin psychs who received death threats and had their tyres slashed. However I have read a witness account of two clin psychs having a punch-up on the hospital premises – one of them was the person responsible for holding the anger management sessions with the patients. See my post ‘Security, Security’ for details regarding Ashworth.

After Richard Bentall worked in the ‘service’ which ensures that the victims of influential sex offenders remain excluded and discredited for the rest of their lives, he did an MA in Philosophy as Applied to Healthcare at Swansea University.

Richard Bentall has stated that people ‘have compared me to R.D. Laing’. I knew a former patient of Laing’s who not only told me that Laing was sadly a complete hypocrite who seriously neglected his most needy patients, but many people alleged that Laing was also sexually exploiting his patients.

If the mortar board fits Richard!

During the 1990s, Bentall was Professor of Clinical Psychology at Liverpool University. Throughout the years that, despite police investigations, there was ‘no evidence’ found of a paedophile ring in north Wales/Cheshire. Witnesses to the paedophile gang which didn’t exist were regularly found dead during that time.

In 1999 – once Ronnie Waterhouse had called the victims of Dafydd and the paedophiles a bunch of liars and criminals and had begun to write his whitewash – Richard Bentall accepted a position at Manchester University ‘researching the psychology and treatment of psychotic experiences’.

Manchester University employed Tony Francis immediately before Tony Francis relocated to north Wales (see post ‘Ian Brockington’s Mischief’). Dafydd’s mate Dr Bob Hobson moved from the Maudsley to Manchester University in 1974 and built an empire there (see post ‘The Mentor’). There was a lot of traffic in mental health staff between Manchester and north Wales during the 1990s and many Angels and more recently staff working in north Wales acquired what were clearly worthless qualifications in Mental Health from Manchester University (see post ‘The White Heat Of This Revolution’).

In 2007, Richard Bentall returned to Bangor University as a Professor of Psychology. By which time Prof Fergus Lowe was causing havoc in Bangor University, having expanded his influence outward from the School of Psychology on the back of his knowledge of the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophiles and all those who had concealed them.

Richard returned to Bangor when the paedophiles’ friends had entered panic mode and were calling in reinforcements. Not only were people demanding that the investigation into the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal be re-opened, but Brown and I had started publishing about the shortcomings of the mental health services.

The VC of Bangor University’s wife was dying after the paedophiles’ friends at the Walton Centre in Liverpool somehow found that they ‘could not treat’ her condition and he took compassionate leave to look after her. Fungus took the opportunity to tell everyone that they could all forget about the VC now, Fungus was the only one who counted.

It was then that Richard Bentall heard the call of the green, green grass of home!

Shortly after Richard arrived back in Bangor, I was shown an e mail that he had sent in which he admitted that it had become virtually impossible to recruit patients for mental health research in north Wales. I know why that was – the patients had been so badly neglected or abused by the mental health services that they had as little as possible to do with them and simply ran away screaming if the word ‘research’ was mentioned.

So Richard, how do you explain that although none of you could recruit participants in north Wales, mental health researchers in Bangor continued to churn out publications boasting of ground-breaking new ‘interventions’, which were based on research trials which had allegedly involved hundreds of mental health patients from north Wales?

Richard Bentall returned to a Professorial position at Liverpool University in 2011. Just as Operation Pallial re-opened the investigation into the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal.

At Liverpool University, Richard ‘is building a research group which focuses on the psychological mechanisms of severe mental illness and social factors that affect these mechanisms, which has led to a recent interest in public mental health’. In 1989, he received the BPS’s Division of Clinical Psychology ‘May Davidson Award’, an annual award for outstanding contributions to the field of clinical psychology, in the first ten years after qualifying. In 2014 Bentall was elected a Fellow of the British Academy.

Bentall has critiqued much of psychiatry, but he has not said anything that was not said many years ago by many other academics. Yet for reasons that I never understood – until I found out who Richard’s dad was – Richard Bentall has received acres of media coverage and has won prestigious awards. Furthermore, Dr Mike Jackson, one of Bentall’s Bangor colleagues who has also built his recent reputation on ‘psychological interventions in psychosis’, admitted to me that those interventions don’t work. Not that Mike et al ever admitted this in their publications or in any of the training sessions or the mountains of training material that they have produced.

The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle.jpg

Here’s an Interesting Fact, in the light of the Bentall family owning much of Kingston-upon-Thames: After I left St George’s, St George’s Hospital Medical School merged with Kingston Poly. The staff of the elitist den of hatred which is St George’s had a great many hissy fits at the thought of merging with a bunch of oiks from a Poly, but the Dean/Principal of St George’s, Professor Sir William Asscher, drove the merger through. Asscher spent most of his career as a Top Doctor in Cardiff until he heard the siren call of the serious organised criminals of St George’s in 1988, who were in need of help after their Prof of Paediatrics, Oliver Brooke, was imprisoned for the possession of child porn. Asscher spent the rest of his career at St George’s, concealing the cesspool that remained virtually unrippled even after Brooke was jailed.

Adrian Bell, a lecturer in Plant Biology at Bangor University, did his first degree at Kingston Poly. Adrian then worked as a forensic scientist but told students in Bangor that he left that service because of the endemic corruption within. Adrian was friends with Dr D.G.E. Wood, who was facilitating the sex trafficking ring whilst he worked as a GP in the Student Health Centre. I presumed for years that Adrian Bell had no idea at all what Wood, Dafydd and Gwynne were up to. I have recently been told that he knew exactly what was going on.

That gang killed people Adrian. You spineless tosser.

Someone else knows all about Dafydd and the sex trafficking gang as well – Richard Bentall’s former wife. She did a degree in the Dept of Plant Biology at UCNW and then trained and worked as an Angel. She left the NHS to work in her own complementary therapy practice on Anglesey and she knows exactly how lethal the NHS is because she told me.

Richard’s former wife has good reason not to utter a word about Dafydd and the paedophiles. Her dad, Dr Eifion Jones, was for many years the Dean of the Faculty of Science at UCNW – whilst Dafydd and the paedophiles ran the institution.

I never told Richard’s ex-wife this, but her dad was notorious. He knew that there was a very big problem with the poor quality of statistics teaching at UCNW (see post ‘They Think That It’s All Over – It Is Now’) and Eifion Jones also knew that the teaching in the Maths Dept was so bad that all the science students who opted for the ‘Basic Maths’ module in their first year failed and were kicked out of the University.

In Freshers’ Week, all the science freshers were warned by the peer guides (or as they were called in my day ‘Freshers Helpers’) not, under any circumstances, to opt for Basic Maths, because if they did they would fail the first year and would be thrown out. A few days later, we were all herded into Top College to select our modules and I was accosted by a lecturer who wanted to know which modules I had selected. When I told him, he demanded to know why I hadn’t chosen Basic Maths. I didn’t say ‘because I’ve been warned’, I just said that I was more interested in the modules that I had chosen. This man then spent 15 minutes promising me that I ‘would be in trouble without Basic Maths’ and actually sent me back to the administrators to tell them that I wanted to sign  up for Basic Maths. I was really worried by this and wondered if this old boy was right, but my bacon was saved by a second year student who had seen what was happening, came over, dragged me to one side and said ‘DON’T DO IT, he’s only trying to get you to sign up for Basic Maths because no-one has enrolled for it and it’s making them look bad’. So I avoided the old boy who was ordering me to sign up for Basic Maths and stuck with my original choices.

That old boy was Eifion Jones, Richard Bentall’s former father-in-law.

At the end of my first year I was told that one student had been kicked out of UCNW after they failed a module that the Dean of Science had coerced them into doing. It was of course Basic Maths.

Eifion Jones will have known about many other things as well. The chaos in the Psychology Dept involving Dafydd for a start and his son-in-law’s fellow PhD students in that Dept. Eifion Jones probably also knew that one of the lecturers in the Plant Biology Dept was known to be frequenting pubs in Bangor and picking up under-aged girls. Adrian Bell and his wife Alison knew about this because they were telling people that they were worried that their colleague was going to get himself arrested.

Richard Bentall met Eifion Jones’s daughter when they were undergrads at UCNW and I think that they got married when they were quite young – as undergrads or when Bentall was a PhD student.

No chance of your colleague getting arrested Adrian and Alison, the whole town was facilitating the trafficking ring, including, as you knew, your own colleagues. As well as Eifion Jones, who’s daughter was a student of the potential sex offender and who’s son-in-law did two degrees in a Dept ruled over by Dafydd. Eifion Jones will have known that there was a lobotomist employed in the Student Health Centre as well.

Eifion Jones will have been fully aware of the shenanigans in the Agriculture Dept and the circumstances under which one of the secretaries there, Mary Wynch, was wrongfully arrested and imprisoned by Dafydd and was subsequently ruined by Michael Howard when he was Home Secretary (see post ‘The Mary Wynch Case – Details’). Eifion will have known about the resident groper in the Agri Dept, Gordon Farley and Eifion I think was Dean of Science when the hopeless J.B. Owen was given a Chair in Agriculture, allegedly because his family had provided the cash which founded the Agriculture Dept back in the pre-Cambrian. But then Efion’s son-in-law’s father purchased his Chair and career as well, so it will have been business as usual for Eifion Jones.

Eifion is dead now, but if he were still alive he would no doubt be able to explain why Professor Richard Howarth, one of the washed-up old farts in the Agri Dept, was appointed an adviser to Thatch, but disappeared off the planet after Sir Peter Morrison was found dead in 1995.

The last time that I had an Eifion Jones Experience was in 2001 when I was doing my PGCE. Eifion was invited to give us all a talk on the construction of the Britannia Bridge, which was something that Eifion had a big interest in. I can imagine that some people could have given an interesting lecture on such a topic, but Eifion most definitely did not.

At the time, the paedophiles’ friends of yore were doing their best to organise a military coup to overthrow the acting VC, Meryn Jones. They would gather at public events to insult him. I used to hear their plans because I arrive for most things early and they would all be there plotting – they were all so pompous and grandiose that they used to ignore me. I heard everything… Plans to fit the VC up for a criminal offence, the spreading of scurrilous rumours regarding his personal conduct whilst his wife was dying, plans to put the boot in as soon as his wife was dead ‘because it’ll look bad if we get him when his wife is dying’, the plan to approach Prof Eric Sunderland – the previous VC and a paedophiles’ friend but one who was well-camouflaged – and enlist his help in terms of spreading the poison…

Eifion Jones was one of the Grand Plotters. One of a bunch of clapped-out friends of a paedophile gang who’s crimes were so serious that year after year after year and unto the next generation, people who were not mates with Dafydd et al had to have their lives destroyed.

To return to Mr Big at Hammersmith, Hugh Bentall. The heir to a posh version of M&S was not the only man who combined Trade with the Professions. Hugh’s colleague Professor Denis Melrose – the clinical physiologist who led the Hammersmith delegation to Moscow – did so as well.

Melrose was originally from Cape Town. He studied at Oxford University, then at UCH Medical School, qualifying in 1945. Like so many other paedophiles’ friends, Melrose joined the Royal Navy. He subsequently took up a lecturing post at the Dept of Surgery at Hammersmith/RPMS, under the Head of Dept Prof Ian Aird.

Aird and Melrose had ambitions to develop a heart-lung machine. A Hungarian refugee Francis Kellerman had established a medical instrument firm, New Electronic Projects – NEP –  and ‘in spite of severe financial constraints’ Kellerman collaborated with Melrose to design and manufacture what became known as the Melrose-NEP heart-lung machine. I have not discovered where Kellerman found the funding to develop the machine. The Melrose-NEP heart-lung machine was first used in the pioneering operation at Hammersmith on 17 April 1957. It was such a good advert that sales boomed and the Melrose-NEP machine was quickly used across the UK, then in New Zealand and in Australia. Melrose ‘gave great personal support to units starting to do open heart surgery’. Well he and his mates had invented the technique which was dependent upon the use of the machine which went ping which they had not only also invented but were marketing and selling. That machine will not have come cheap, it cost rather more than a pair of posh knickers sold by Bentall’s in Kingston-upon-Thames.

A group of Russians decided to buy a Melrose-NEP machine and this is why Bentall et al went to Moscow with a machine that went ping…

In Moscow, the Soviet Deputy PM Anastas Mikoyan greeted Melrose’s team, embraced who we are told was ‘the buxom theatre nurse’ Phyllis Bowtle, saying ‘Medicine is clean, politics are dirty’.

Not if Bentall, Hammersmith and Melrose are involved, particularly when they have machines that go ping to flog and a Gov’t in trouble in need of good PR…

Bentall, Melrose et al didn’t only invent open heart surgery and the machine that went ping to go with it – they invented something else as well. When open heart surgery was performed using Melrose’s heart-lung machine, the patient’s heart would remain beating during the operation. This didn’t make the surgery impossible, but it was a hassle for the surgeon. Therefore Melrose and his team developed a way of inducing cardiac arrest in the patient being operated upon by using a potassium citrate perfusion into heart. Potassium arrest is still used in open heart surgery, but these days St Thomas’s cardioplegic solution is used.

When I read that potassium citrate had been replaced by something else, I wondered if there were perhaps risks associated with inducing cardiac arrest by potassium citrate. Not according to the blurb one usually finds associated with Bentall et al’s operations at Hammersmith. The usual claim is that by 1984, 300 patients had been operated on at Hammersmith and that there had been no deaths.

Yet I found it clearly stated in a 1957 academic paper which reviewed the outcomes of open heart surgery patients at Hammersmith who had undergone elective cardiac arrest using Melrose’s heart-lung machine that out of 37 patients, 13 had died.

As Peter Cook would have said ‘Is that a fact? How very interesting.’

So the Hammersmith version of a McDonalds Happy Meal – open heart surgery, heart-lung machine, potassium citrate induced cardiac arrest – carried considerable risks for patients, yet those risks were air-brushed out of the picture at some point between 1957 and 1984.

I wonder if Hugh Bentall offered fries with that.

Prof Bill Cleland was the leading surgeon who was showcased in Moscow. Cleland was an Australian. After coming to the UK, he eventually became  consultant cardio-thoracic surgeon at King’s College Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital, 1948-77. Cleland was Director of the Dept of Surgery at the Institute for Diseases of the Chest (later known as the Cardio-Thoracic Institute, Royal Brompton Hospital), 1960-77. Cleland lectured and operated across Europe and the Middle East.

The Royal Brompton is another ‘leading medical institution’ in London. When I worked at St George’s, the dreadful Mandy Leigh and Dr Cathy Wilson (see previous posts) were researching in collaboration with the Royal Brompton. The process involved Mandy and Cathy spending much time swearing and cursing about the Royal Brompton and its alleged inadequacies, but Mandy and Cathy responded to the whole universe in that way, so it may not have been a reflection on the Royal Brompton.

Prof Bill Cleland’s son is a neurologist. I think that he is probably Dr Peter Cleland, who is now retired, but previously practised in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Peter Cleveland also worked for Nuffied, BUPA and Spire hospitals. There was a direct link between the paedophile gang which operated in the Newcastle area and Dafydd’s gang in north Wales. A number of mental health professionals from Newcastle-upon-Tyne went to work in north Wales with Dafydd and the paedophiles, including psychiatrist Dr Neil Davies and Professor Bob Woods of the School of Psychology at UCNW/Bangor University. Lord John Walton, Dafydd’s Big Mate who protected Dafydd for decades was a neurologist based in Newcastle (see post ‘The Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Connection?’).

Professor Ian Aird was Hugh Bentall’s senior colleague at Hammersmith/RPMS. Ian Aird trained at the University of Edinburgh and then worked at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh and also at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Aird served in the RAMC during WWII. In 1946 Aird was appointed Professor of Surgery at RPMS.

By all accounts, Aird was quite something. He became famous in 1953 for separating Nigerian Siamese twins, the first time that the operation had been carried out in the UK and he travelled across the world lecturing and operating. He is described as being hugely energetic and popular, but unusually for a surgeon, as ‘sensitive’.

In fact Ian Aird was so sensitive that it killed him. On 17 Sept 1962 he was found dead in his bed at Hammersmith Hospital. The cause of death was barbiturate poisoning. Prof Aird was said to have been taking barbiturates for depression.

So Prof Ian Aird – Bentall’s eminent senior colleague who did not join the PR trip to Moscow – died some 18 months after Bentall starred in the BBC documentary. Bentall purchased his Chair at RPMS less than two years after Ian Aird’s death.

Barbiturates were generously prescribed in the early 1960s, but the problem with barbiturates is that they are very toxic in overdose. Ian Aird would have known that.

Professor Ian Aird was working with a bunch of scoundrels who’s lying, cheating and dreadful behaviour permeated the whole of Hammersmith/RPMS 25 years later. Unlike some, Professor Aird did not purchase his Chair and career. Furthermore, Aird’s work eclipsed the work of the Hammersmith surgeon who did do that. Until of course Ian Aird died. Then the coast was clear for another Great Surgeon to emerge from Hammersmith.

Mary Wynch always maintained that her mother died of barbiturate poisoning in one of Dafydd’s ‘nursing homes’. But Mary was mad. Dafydd said so after he unlawfully imprisoned her for a year.

Here’s Professor Richard Bentall, following in his dad’s footsteps as an Eminent Academic…

I have mentioned before that the IVF pioneer Prof Bob Edwards was a former UCNW student, but Bangor University wouldn’t admit to being associated with Bob Edwards until he won his Nobel Prize. What Bangor did used to max out on though – to the entertainment of the students – was Roger Whittaker being a UCNW graduate. Roger often got a mention, but at graduation in either 1984 or 1985, UCNW really developed Roger-mania and Roger turned up in person. He strummed his guitar, he sung a few songs and he whistled. Welsh TV and the press were there and Roger was interviewed and explained how studying at UCNW was the best thing since sliced bread. Roger studied biochemistry at UCNW back in the dark ages. He doesn’t mention this much, but Roger and academia didn’t go too well together. Roger only went to UCNW because his grades were so bad that nowhere else offered him a place and he ended up with a Third. When the media asked Roger if he ever regretted following a career as a whistling folk musician rather than a biochemist, Roger didn’t admit that he was so bad at biochemistry that he couldn’t have been a biochemist, he maintained that his whistling made people happy and that was more important than anything else.

Roger’s whistling certainly made a gang of sex traffickers happy. Roger arrived in Bangor to provide much needed PR in the wake of Brown and I complaining about Gwynne the lobotomist and me writing to the GMC about him. There had also been three students who had attempted suicide after encountering Gwynne and an Agri student had hung himself in one of the halls of residence. Goodness what that was all about, there was never any info provided, other than that one of the cleaners found his body.

One of Roger’s hits was ‘I’ve Got To Leave Old Durham Town’, which is what Professor Eric Sunderland did when the paedophile gang sent up a distress flare in 1984 and asked him to be Principal of UCNW. According to Roger’s wiki entry, he began his musical career when he was a student at Bangor, 1959-62, by singing in local clubs. Roger gave away a Flexi disc with the Bangor student newspaper, the ‘Bangor University Rag’. Roger seems to be telling porkies with regard to this. There were no clubs in Bangor until 1984. Even if we give Roger the benefit of the doubt and entertain the notion that in the early 60s, Bangor was not a tiny Welsh town rather inaccessible to much of Wales yet alone the rest of the UK, but a thriving metropolis where night was turned into neon day with streets thronging with nightclubs, strip joints and casinos, with a Chinatown and branches of all the best stores, Roger’s story still doesn’t add up. Bangor University wasn’t called Bangor University until many years after Roger graduated. It was UCNW until well after I graduated in 1984, its next incarnation was as the University of Wales, Bangor and in 2007 it became Bangor University. So whatever Roger Whittaker did when he was a student, he did not give away Flexi discs with a student newspaper called the ‘Bangor University Rag’.

However, Roger will have been a student at UCNW with the Burmese Generals – or as Brown called them ‘the Welsh gerontocracy’ – who subsequently ran Bangor, who doubled up as paedophiles’ friends and who attempted the military coup some 10 years ago. No wonder they dined out on Roger being a UCNW graduate and invited him back to do his whistling when there was a Challenge To Gwynne.

This morning I was reading a copy of the i newspaper from last Friday when I was faced with an interview with Ken Clarke, as part of the i’s ‘NHS at 70’ celebrations. Ken Clarke has featured extensively on this blog, so I won’t repeat his crimes here. Suffice to say that in just about every capacity in which he has been employed, Clarke colluded with and concealed serious crime in the NHS, including that of Dafydd and the paedophiles and the charmers at St George’s.

Ken reminisced about his time as Health Minister and then, from July 1988, Health Secretary, to the i. He of course remembered his famous battles with the BMA. Ken told the i that the BMA was ‘the most ruthless and determined opponent I ever faced’ and that they ‘were completely ruthless and unscrupulous’.

Before I realised what D.G.E. Wood and Tony Francis were doing to me without my knowledge, I used to chat to them a great deal about medicine and politics and of course about Ken Clarke. It’s how I found out how fond of Dr Death DGE Wood was. At the time of the BMA’s famous advertising campaign which involved an ad with the slogan ‘What do you call a man who ignores medical advice?’ ‘Ken Clarke’, I told Wood that the Tories were going to lose the battle with the BMA, although they probably deserved to win it. I quipped to Wood that all the BMA needed to do if Ken Clarke didn’t do exactly what they told him to do was to invite the TV cameras into the neonatal ward of any hospital and film all those babies being cared for by Angels. Ken Clarke would lose hands down. Wood laughed more loudly than I had ever heard him laugh before and smugly said ‘it’s called political muscle and we’ve got more of it than anyone else’.

Wood and his colleagues were running a sex trafficking ring which was murdering witnesses and Ken Clarke knew it. Clarke took on the BMA to a far great extent than any other Health Secretary ever has, but he didn’t win. The fight ended in stalemate because some of the BMA members were facilitating the paedophile gang which was supplying underaged children to a whole selection of people, including Gov’t Ministers and two friends of Thatcher’s. Ken knew it and he knew what was happening at Hammersmith Hospital as well.

Ken told the i last Friday that the NHS had been transformed by the Tory Gov’ts of which he was a part and as an example of the transformation, Ken reminded the i that ‘you had awful old fashioned asylums who were dealing with people who were mentally ill’.

The awful old fashioned asylum in Denbigh was illegally imprisoning the victims of the paedophile gang which Ken was ignoring in a dungeon.

Ken’s solution? It was to do a deal with the BMA for their mutual benefit – which involving destroying the careers of me and a number of my friends who had found out some of what was going on in north Wales and allowing Carlo’s mate the Duke of Westminster to buy a piece of real estate in Knightsbridge worth millions for £6000 (see post ‘The White Heat Of This Revolution’).

Nice one Ken! The Chancellor of the Exchequer has just announced that the Treasury has completely run out of money – it’s all been given to the NHS. The lot. Nothing left. Mentally ill people are just as badly off as when they were left to rot in Denbigh and every Dept of Children’s Social Services in the UK has been hijacked by sex trafficking gangs. The health outcomes for certain cohorts in much of the UK are some of the worst in Europe.

What an achievement.

Ken Clarke. Westminster’s answer to Edwina Hart. They knew what was going on, they tried to stand up to the Top Doctors, but because they were both so desperate to be PM/FM and didn’t dare lose the support of the caring sharing NHS they didn’t see it through. Instead they did deals with child abusers and killers.

Ken Clarke did not become PM. Edwina did not become FM. A lot of people died.

I note that Richard Bentall has passed through Swansea University, as well as the paedophiles’ friends’ favourites Bangor, Liverpool and Manchester Universities. Swansea University was the playground of Rhodri Morgan and Edwina Hart. It was also part of Lord Brian Flowers’ train set. Other institutions which Brian Flowers were given to play with were Hammersmith/RPMS and Manchester University.

Never mind, Richard Bentall is leading a research team developing interventions which his colleagues admit don’t work.

The social worker daughter of one of Dafydd’s henchmen who worked as an Angel at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh was given a job as a senior social worker in the Office of the Children’s Commissioner for Wales, an Office which was established on the recommendation of Sir Ronnie Waterhouse to ensure that It Never Happens Again.

The son of one Mr Big at Hammersmith who concealed an even bigger vat of worms, including the criminal activity in north Wales, is a Professor of Clinical Psychology who is dedicating his career to Liberating Service Users. Whether Richard Bentall’s family business made generous donations to the Universities of Bangor, Liverpool and Manchester in return for Richard’s Chairs I have no idea.

‘The Morning Star’ today is looking to Dave Prentis, the General Secretary of UNISON, to lead the 70th anniversary celebrations of the NHS in style. Dave Prentis has been General Secretary since 2001. Prentis was appointed Deputy General Secretary of UNISON upon it’s formation in 1993 from the merger of NALGO, NUPE and COHSE. Many of those who abused children in north Wales were members of NALGO and NUPE. Some of the abusers were shop stewards of those unions. Those unions provided full protection for their members even after they had admitted to, or had been convicted of, serious offences against children. One NALGO rep who had abused children managed to produce a letter from a psychiatrist which enabled him to retire on favourable terms re financial provision. Numerous staff at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh were members of COHSE. David Williams, the General Secretary of COHSE, was a former Angel from the North Wales Hospital. Dafydd’s henchman led the union. See post ‘A Very COHSE Relationship With Some Very Nasty People’.

See you at the party Dave!

Update On ‘Tainted Blood’ Scandal – The Culprit

In my posts ‘News Round Up, May 10 2017’ and ‘Dr Death’, I discussed the ‘tainted blood’ scandal that is currently causing so much distress to so many in the UK. It has been admitted by the Gov’t that the NHS gave thousands of haemophiliacs, as well as a number of other people, blood products derived from blood donated in the U.S. and that many people were infected with HIV or Hepatitis C as a result. Approx 2000 people have died as a result and many more are living restricted lives. The major catastrophe occurred on Margaret Thatcher’s watch when her Gov’t closed down the MRC lab in the UK, which left the UK entirely dependent on imports from the U.S. Thatcher’s Gov’t were told that this would put NHS patients at serious risk because U.S. blood products frequently originated from drug users or other groups with a high rate of blood borne infections. Thatcher’s Gov’t ploughed ahead nonetheless on the grounds that purchasing blood products from the U.S. would be a cheaper option. Scientific advisors have come forward to confirm that they knew about the risk and that they did tell the Dept of Health at the time. The Minister responsible at the time was Ken Clarke. He is denying that he was ever warned about the possibility of catastrophe. Both David Cameron and Theresa May have refused a public inquiry into the matter.

There is a further twist. Some scientists have claimed that they warned the Dept of Health back in the 70s of the dangers of using unscreened blood products – the danger then was perceived to be what is now termed Hepatitis C because no-one knew about HIV. Dr David Owen has been telling anyone who will listen that in 1976 he warned that Britain should be aiming to be self-sufficient in blood products. Yet Dr Death claims that the archived files that he kept concerning this matter have ‘disappeared’ and he suspects a Civil Service cover-up – and poor old Dr Death’s memory is a bit shaky and now he can’t remember the relevant details. Yet Anita Roddick’s daughter Sam has told the press that her mum contracted Hepatitis C (from which she died many years later) during a blood transfusion at the time of Sam’s birth – in 1970. So the NHS has been lethally infecting people for a long time.

Well I’m delighted to say that once more ‘Service Shenanigans’ can shed light where it seems that nobody else can. Although I have to fess up to gaining my information from none other but Ken Clarke, the Minister of State for Health in Thatcher’s Gov’t when the ‘advice’ from the scientists regarding the safety or otherwise of U.S. blood products was given. I have found this out from Ken Clarke’s autobiography ‘Kind of Blue’, which I am currently reading. Ken makes it quite clear. In chapter nine he states that the matter of blood products was ‘regarded as a small specialist area of activity and was handled by Simon Glenarthur, Parliamentary Under-Secretary in the Lords. Simon behaved impeccably throughout the crisis but unfortunately he acted on the medical and scientific advice given to him which was not based on full knowledge of the dangers’. Ken tells us that there has now been a number of investigations and ‘Simon’s reputation has always emerged unscathed as he quite correctly acted conscientiously in the light of the scientific advice available to him’.

So the man responsible is Lord Simon Glenarthur. Now Ken is blaming it all on unidentified medical and scientific advisors to Simon. Which is seriously weird because those scientific advisors themselves maintain that they warned the DoH of the dangers. Glenarthur was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary in 1983. Dr Death in 1976 admitted that NHS patients were being put at risk. The world knew all about blood borne infections in 1983 – I was an undergrad then and I knew about them, so I’m absolutely sure that Simon’s medical and scientific advisors did. So either the medical and scientific advisors are telling porkies and they didn’t warn Simon, or Simon and/or Ken are telling porkies – or Simon ignored the advice and now won’t fess up.

Ken refers to Simon’s ‘unscathed’ reputation. How unscathed is Simon Glenarthur’s reputation? Well he ended up in a bit of bother in 2012, but blamed that on someone else as well. Since 2010 Simon Glenarthur has been a Governor and Trustee of King Edward VII’s Hospital Sister Agnes. Readers might remember that in 2012 when pregnant with Prince George, Princess Middleton suffered from very severe pregnancy-induced sickness and spent some time in King Edward VII Hospital. Whilst she was a patient there, two Australian shock-jocks rang the hospital pretending to be ringing from Buck House, imitated a corgi barking in the background and asked after Princess Middleton’s health. The nurse who took the call, Jacintha Saldanha, didn’t cotton on to what was happening and passed on some fairly benign information. The shock-jocks broadcast the call, a major diplomatic incident followed and Jacintha killed herself. At some point during all this, a pompous man stood outside of the hospital and faced the TV cameras. Next to the pompous man was another even more pompous man who remained silent but who glowered in an intimidating manner at the camera. The pompous man with the speaking part said ‘This is Lord Glenarthur. He is our Chairman’ and then read out a prepared statement. The message was clear – I’ve got a Lord with me and no-one is going to touch us for this.

Lord Glenarthur subsequently wrote a letter to the Australian radio station involved stating that it was ‘truly appalling’ that the call had been approved by the station’s management before broadcast. But there were a number of other truly appalling things as well. It was truly appalling that one of London’s allegedly most elite hospitals didn’t employ anyone to answer telephone calls and that this was left to the nurse on duty who was actually looking after Princess Middleton at the same time. How much did Princess Middleton pay for her care there I wonder? What is Simon Glenarthur’s remuneration as a Trustee and Governor? I note that when the hospital management wanted to intimidate everyone they referred to Simon as their Chairman, although that doesn’t appear on his wiki page. Is he still the Chairman? Indeed was he then, or was that a porkie? Other appalling things were revealed in the press following Jacintha’s suicide – that she was working very long hours for little pay; that she lived in Bristol and was commuting to London and was exhausted; that she was terrified of the hospital’s management. Then a news story appeared claiming that Jacintha had suffered from depression and had attempted suicide previously. Her family denied this. Nothing was ever clarified. One thing is fairly obvious though – that Lord and his mates were too busy covering their own arses to provide sufficient support and reassurance to Jacintha. And when she became so distressed that she killed herself, rather than address her working conditions Lord simply made it public that he’d given the radio station a bollocking.

For a man whose decision regarding blood products resulted in the death of thousands of people, Lord hasn’t done too badly for himself. Since 2002 he has been Director of the MDU (Medical Defence Union). That is the MDU that refused to compensate the victims of Ian Paterson, the rogue breast surgeon who was recently imprisoned for wounding hundreds of patients – after of course it failed to stop his criminal activity in the first place. It is also the MDU who provided Dr Tony Francis (Dr X) with free legal advice from Ann Ball, a solicitor from Hempsons and Sir Robert Francis QC, a barrister, in order to bring a court case against me, although they knew that Francis was perjuring himself and that he and his colleague Dr Dafydd Alun Jones were involved in criminal activity themselves (see post ‘The Sordid Role Of Sir Robert Francis QC’).

But Lord has many strings to his bow. Here’s a resume:

Simon Glenarthur is one of 90 hereditary peers in the Lords. He sits as a Conservative. He went to Eton, then joined The Royal Hussars, then served in the Territorial Army. He was a Captain for British Airways Helicopters 1976-82; a Government Whip in 1982; appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health in 1983. After this he worked in the Home Office, he was then Minister of State for Scotland in 1986 and then Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs 1987-89.

He was a Director of Aberdeen and Texas Corporate Finance Ltd 1977-82; a Director of ABTEX Computer Systems Ltd 1979-82; Senior Executive of Hanson plc 1989-96; Deputy Chair of Hanson Pacific Ltd 1994-98; a Director of Whirly Bird Services Ltd 1995-2004; Consultant for British Aerospace 1989-99; President of the National Council for Civil Protection 1991-03; Chair, British Helicopter Advisory Board 1992-2004 and President since 2004; a Director of the Lewis Group 1993-94; Consultant for Chevron UK Ltd 1994-97; a Director of Millennium Chemicals 1996-2004; Consultant for Imperial Tobacco 1996-98; Chair of the European Helicopter Association 1996-2003; Chair of the International Federation of the Helicopter Association 1997-2004; a Governor of Nuffield Hospitals since 2000; since 2002 Honorary Colonel of 306 Field Hospital; since 2004 Honorary Air Commodore of 612 Squadron, Royal Auxilliary Air Force; in 1992 he was made a Freeman of the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators; in 1996 he became a Liveryman; in 1978 he became a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Service and then became a Fellow in 1999; since 1992 he has been a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society; since 1996 a Freeman of the City of London; Consultant to Audax Trading Ltd 2001-02 and a Director 2003-05; in 2001 he became a Commissioner of the Royal Chelsea Hospital; in 2005 a Director of Audax Global; since 1994 a Council Member of the Air League; a Member of the National Employers Liaison Committee for Her Majesty’s Reserve Forces 1996-02; in 2002 appointed Chair of the National Employer Advisory Board for Britain’s Reserve Forces. Simon is also a Lieutenant of the Royal Company of Archers.

That’s quite a CV for someone whose rash decision led to the deaths of 2000 people at an early point in his career. I’m not at all sure that he should be trusted with all those flying machines.

It’s The Sun Wot Won It

Readers of my vintage will recognise the title of this blog post – it was the headline that The Sun ran on 11 April 1992 as they crowed about their role in the unexpected Conservative victory at the General Election. The Tories had not expected to win, Norman Lamont’s handling of the economy was not proving very successful and they were expecting a thrashing at the polls. In the days leading up to the election, the right wing press had metamorphosed into vehicles of abuse against Neil Kinnock and the Labour Party, culminating in the The Sun’s notorious front page on the day of the election which screamed ‘If Kinnock wins today will the last person to leave Britain please turn out the lights?’

I’ve been reminded of that particular hate campaign because I’m currently reading Gyles Brandreth’s autobiography ‘Breaking The Code’ in which Brandreth details his selection as Tory candidate for Chester, his subsequent election as MP for Chester and his ‘political career’ – Brandreth and his chums spent much time chortling smugly as the UK media hurled abuse and not infrequently downright lies at the Labour Party. Interestingly enough though, even Brandreth didn’t expect a Tory victory.

In my post ‘I Want Serious Money Now Please’ I detailed the reasons which caused me to believe that Brandreth must have known that his predecessor as Conservative MP for Chester, Sir Peter Morrison, was molesting under-aged boys and why I thought that Brandreth must also have known about the allegations of a paedophile ring operating in north Wales and Cheshire. Morrison was of course known to be visiting children’s homes in north Wales and one person made a statement alleging that Morrison had raped him when he was 14, at the infamous Elm Guest House near Barnes Common, just around the corner from Gyles’s home. Boys from north Wales were known to have been trafficked to the Elm Guest House and to locations in Chester.

Gyles’s book, which is based on his diaries, begins the account in 1990 when he decides to embark on a political career. In between the constant name-dropping of members of the Royal Family and folk from showbiz and boasting about his performances as characters such as Baron Hardup in panto, Gyles describes how he ingratiates himself to leading lights in the Conservative Party and pretty much randomly sets his eyes on a few potential seats, one being Chester. As in the case of his Oxford Union contemporary Ann Widdecombe (see post ‘Doris Karloff – Honest About Her Expenses But Not Much Else’), Gyles knows nothing about the constituencies that he aspires to represent and just like Ann gains his knowledge from visiting the local public library just before meeting the selection panel. Gyles describes his visit to Chester library and how he soon understood the constituency, but he notes whilst leafing through copies of the local papers that the sitting MP Sir Peter Morrison – who is standing down at the next election, hence the vacancy – is never mentioned. However Gyles has looked up Peter Morrison as well and he likes what he discovers – an impeccable profile: Eton, Oxford, White’s, Pratt’s, the son of Lord Margdale, a brother who’s an MP and a sister who is Woman of the Bedchamber to the Queen no less! Gyles can’t wait to meet him – he soon does, he goes to visit Morrison at Morrison’s house, 81 Cambridge Street, London SW1.  Gyles is truly bowled over – not because Morrison is charming or witty or engaging, but because Morrison is really posh. When Gyles gets to meet the members of the City of Chester Conservative Association he finds that a lot of them are really wowed by the very poshness of Morrison too – they’re particularly impressed because Morrison has pictures of himself at Eton in his bog. There’s another reason why Gyles is starry eyed about Morrison – Morrison is PPS to Thatcher (Morrison occupied this role between 1990-92) and Gyles suspects that Morrison might even share an office with Thatcher! Gyles is one of those Tories who just loved her and would do anything to touch the hem of her cloak…

When he begins hobnobbing with the City of Chester Conservative Association, Gyles meets someone even more worth knowing than a Sir who’s sister’s vocation in life is toadying to HM the Queen. Gyles discovers that the Duke of Westminster is President of the Association! He’s so posh that the rest of the Association have to call him ‘Your Grace’. Gyles also knows that the Duke of Westminster is one of the richest men in the UK and is a close friend of the Royal Family. Unfortunately though Gyles oversteps the mark when he finds himself in the presence of the Duke and calls him ‘Gerald’ rather than ‘Your Grace’. It’s a black mark, but thanks to several hours of intensive toadying by Gyles’s wife Michele (the lady who wants Serious Money, as described in a previous post) who remembers to grovel in the right manner, the black mark against Gyles is forgiven. There is another budding Conservative candidate up against Gyles, a Jacqui Lait, who it is mentioned has been beavering away for the Tories for years and who Gyles and his wife have to admit is very good. In fact she’s so good that she even knows Things About Europe and Michele is sure that Jacqui will be selected. Another budding candidate, described as ‘Peter Morrison’s man’, is mentioned but not expanded upon – it is merely observed that he doesn’t seem to have a spouse. Amazingly enough though poor old Jacqui is blown out and the Association selects Gyles! I cannot help but wonder whether this might have something to do with Gyles having previously spent many months toadying to HRH the Duke of Edinburgh – Gyles was busy raising many thousands of pounds for the Royal Family in the guise of charity work – and of course all those letters that he’d written to senior figures in the Tories that he’d got to know from his time at Oxford or in showbiz. Gyles certainly gets around – parties at Jeffrey Archer’s, (parties at Robert Maxwell’s as well, Gyles isn’t fussy) and endless social engagements where he rubs noses with Royals. Well what does working your arse off for the Conservatives for years mean in comparison to Gyles’s ruthless networking? Jacqui Lait must have felt like voting Labour after that.

Once Gyles was selected did he relocate to Chester and get to know the constituency? Not exactly. He went straight ‘home’ to London, noting how much he’d missed it having to spend so much time in Chester telling everyone there how committed he was to them. People kept asking him difficult questions about whether he would be living in the constituency and sending his children to local schools. Poor old Gyles had to explain that although of course he would be living in the constituency, his children would remain at school in London. Gyles’s idea of ‘living in the constituency’ was actually to rent a very expensive house there whilst he pissed off around the rest of the UK appearing in panto or dining with influential Conservatives. He spent a lot of time in the early months of 1991 schmoozing with Peter Morrison as well as of course with the Royals. Gyles hobnobbed with David Hunt the Secretary of State for Wales, the Deputy Chief Whip Alistair Goodlad, Neil and Christine Hamilton – he really likes them, they’re as much fun as Peter Morrison! -Chris and Lavender Patten (Gyles didn’t know them, but a mate of his introduced him which was essential what with Patten being Chair of the Conservative Party) and numerous others.

Gyles ensures that his family are seen around Chester as well – although Michele hates the place and bellyaches about all the travelling between there and London as well as the cost of that travelling and of course his kids are still at school in London. The public schools of Chester might not have been good enough for Brandreth’s kids, but in June 1991 he does manage to tempt his daughter up to the Chester Regatta and Flower Show, where he makes sure that she ends up in all the photos. Gyles observes that it’s known that the Labour candidate – a dreadful little oik who Gyles can’t stand – is having marital problems, so there won’t be too many happy family snaps taken during his campaign.

In July Gyles is in serious need of a break, all the toadying and wining and dining having really taken it out of him, not to mention the bother of having to go to Chester on a regular basis although of course he does live in the constituency, so Gyles and Michele pop off to Venice! He has a lovely time and begins to plan his career as a Cabinet Minister and summarises by observing ‘Ain’t life grand!’.

In September, Gyles attends ‘a gala event in the Association’s calender’, Peter Morrison’s Annual Pimms Party. Gyles notes that the party workers fall into two camps – a group who believe that Morrison is past his sell-by date, has let himself go, is out of touch, gives out all the wrong signals and believe that he’s ‘let the seat slide’ and another group who ‘love the grandeur of the man’ and of course who also love the pictures of him at Eton in the bog. Also in September, Gyles watches the Granada drama ‘Thatcher: The Final Days’. Gyles is appalled at the ‘demonisation’ of Peter Morrison in this drama – Peter was blamed for Thatcher losing the leadership to John Major. Gyles observes that ‘in the papers the knives are out for him’, ‘this helps explain why he’s getting out’ and ‘it may explain the drinking’. However Gyles notes that ‘the programme didn’t portray him as either a lush or an old queen, though we can see he’s the one and we assume he’s the other’. Gyles remembers that it was a Jeremy Hanley who at the time of Morrison’s appointment as Thatcher’s PPS quipped that she’d ‘got herself an aide who knows how to carry a handbag’.

So there was a lot of ribaldry about Morrison’s homosexuality then. But just read what Gyles says next: ‘at Sunday’s do at Peter’s place one or two were whispering behind their hands about his alleged sexual preferences – but I don’t think they know that Michele and I have been told several times on the doorstep – in no uncertain terms – that the MP is a ‘disgusting pervert’ who is ‘into little boys’.

They couldn’t have made it much clearer Gyles.

Gyles is undeterred! In Oct 1991 he joins Peter Morrison at the NFU meeting and then Gyles busies himself preparing his speech for the Tory Party Conference. He’s impressed to find that the Conference is so stage-managed that Gyles actually describes it as ‘rigged’. Gyles’s own speech is on the subject of the Citizen’s Charter! Of course – being one as dedicated to the welfare of the citizens as Gyles is. Gyles is bowled over by the guest of honour at the Conference – it’s a man called William Hague, PPS to Norman Lamont, the Norman who at that time was screwing the economy. After the excitement of the Conference – Michele was so wowed by Thatcher that she had ‘tears in her eyes’ as Thatcher swept the stage -it was entertaining Judy Hurd, wife of Douglas the then Foreign Secretary, who was the guest of honour at Chester racecourse charity lunch. Then it was the State Opening of Parliament – to which Gyles had been invited by the Duke of Edinburgh! November 1991 also saw the death of Robert Maxwell. Gyles reminisces about going to parties at Maxwell’s house and admits that Maxwell was a ‘monster and a crook’. Gyles and Michele’s company did a lot of work for Maxwell nonetheless.

By Dec 1991 Michele is so pissed off with Chester and the boring tedious oiks to whom she constantly has to be civil that she berates Gyles for ever applying for the candidacy there. She had wanted him to wait for a suitable seat in London to come up, but tells him that he was just determined to become the candidate for Chester: ‘you’d have walked over your dying granny to get it. I know you.’ Gyles observes in response ‘She does’.

One presumes that Gyles’s granny didn’t actually die during the process of him pursuing his goal of becoming the Conservative MP for Chester. However quite a few other people died during that time who were not a million miles away from Chester. They were the victims of the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal. There had been premature deaths of those children for years, but things really started hotting up in 1991, the year that Gyles began to bust a gut in order to take over the seat of a man who was, he knew, a child molester. Let’s just look at a few things that happened in 1991 and a few of the events in the years before, which led to all the action in 1991.

In 1987 Alison Taylor, a social worker for Gwynedd Social Services, blew the whistle on serious child abuse in north Wales. Alison was dismissed after doing this. She refused to keep quiet however. She met with Councillors, representatives of the North Wales Police Authority and police officers themselves. In Jan 1987 she wrote to Margaret Thatcher the PM and described abuse that she had witnessed.

Something else happened in 1987 as well which involved the two of the people whom Brandreth found such good fun and whose company he cultivated in 1991, namely Peter Morrison and Neil Hamilton. In 1987 it was alleged that Morrison had joined a group of MPs including Michael Grylls, Neil Hamilton and Michael Brown, who took money from Ian Greer on behalf of third party clients. In the Cash for Questions Inquiry which was later held, Ian Greer Associates admitted that Morrison received payments after Morrison ceased to be an MP. Hansard quotes Greer as stating that he made two commission payments, perhaps three, ‘for client referrals’ to Morrison between 1993-94.

In Feb 1988 Alison Taylor wrote to Tony Newton, the Health Minister regarding the child abuse happening in north Wales.

In July 1991 a letter was sent to the Chief Constable of North Wales Police informing him that there were concerns being expressed that a paedophile ring was operating in north Wales. In August 1991 a police investigation began into the abuse of children in care in Clwyd. In Sept 1991 HTV broadcast a film about Alison Taylor’s allegations regarding abuse in the children’s homes in Gwynedd – the home manager featured in the film, Nefyn Dodd, was trafficking the children to Dolphin Square in London to a Tory lobbyist and speechwriter of Thatcher’s who had an apartment there, although this wasn’t revealed in the film. In Dec 1991 the Independent on Sunday published an article about child abuse in north Wales. In Dec 1991 the North Wales Police expanded their investigation to include abuse in children’s homes in Gwynedd.

Throughout the late 80s/early 90s there were a steady stream of young people who had grown up in care in north Wales found dead. There were also a number of convictions for abuse against child care workers in north Wales. A number of people were tried at Court in Chester. Gyles was not unaware of the existence of the British judicial system. On one of his many jollies, in Sept 1991 Gyles went to lunch at the Old Bailey ‘as a guest of the Sheriff’. Gyles accidentally walked into a Court in session and was very impressed with the barrister at work. He asked a Clerk who the barrister was and was told that it was Michael Mansfield who ‘looks after the IRA and that sort’. Sadly Mr Mansfield – nor any of his radical lawyer colleagues – looked after the people who were being abused by the social services and mental health services in north Wales. Whilst some of them were being molested by Peter Morrison.

Like Gyles I can remember 1991 very clearly, although I wasn’t keeping a diary. I remember it well because whilst Gyles and Michele were grovelling to the Duke of Westminster and being impressed by Peter Morrison in early 1991, I was hounded out of a job at St George’s Hospital Medical School after the network of the Top Doctors who were concealing the paedophile ring that Morrison was involved with stalked me (see posts ‘St George’s Hospital Medical School, 1989/1990’ and ‘A Network Stretching To London?’). There were also a number of attempts by the Top Doctors in north Wales to have me imprisoned for serious offences after they perjured themselves and to have me declared dangerous and banged up without trial (see posts ‘The Night Of The (Dr Chris) Hunter’ and ‘The Sordid Role Of Sir Robert Francis QC’). Top Doctors at St George’s Hospital Medical School and Springfield Hospital colluded with this, although they knew about the criminal activity and sexual abuse of patients by their colleagues in north Wales (see post ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London…’).

Ain’t life grand!

In 1992, as it became clear that there would be an election before long, Gyles began an endless round of photo-opportunities with VIPs. He was well aware that a lot of people in the country were not faring very well because he kept meeting them, even in a place like Chester. It all became a bit of a pain in the bum for Gyles and Michele as they were obliged to meet the small potatoes who bored them and held meetings in dull little halls instead of the splendour of the Grosvenor Hotel and sometimes Gyles and Michele even found themselves wasting their time with people who weren’t going to vote Conservative.

There were high spots however – staying at Neil and Christine’s grand place in Nether Alderly (‘Mrs T is their goddess’) where Neil told Gyles that he expected to be a Minister soon because the ‘Whip’s Office look after their own, that’s their job’; drinks with Lord Waddington when he visited Chester; a visit from Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd who was told by Central Office that he could spend ‘forty-five minutes in Chester’; another visit from David Hunt the Secretary of State for Wales (who was of course at that time sitting in the Welsh Office along with the crooked lawyer Andrew Park and the corrupt Medical Ombudsman Professor Robert Owen concealing the barrel of shit in north Wales); Gyles dined with Shirley Porter (best remembered for her gerrymandering in Westminster Council as well as for the sale of those three cemeteries for literally pennies when they were worth millions and then departing to live in Israel to avoid paying the enormous fine after her conviction); had sherry with the Dean of the Cathedral; lunched with the Retired Masonic Fellowship (Masonic corruption did of course play a big role in the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal, particularly in terms of the Masonic connections between the North Wales Police and the corrupt lawyers and judges on the Chester and Wales Circuit); received a visit from Jeffrey Archer, then Michael Heseltine, then John Major, then Tony Newton, then Peter Lilley! The Tories brought all the big guns out for Chester in 1992 then – I wonder why there was such desperation over that particular seat?

Gyles decided to give his own campaign a little boost by writing letters to the local papers using pseudonyms, telling everyone what an impressive candidate that Gyles Brandreth was.

So what was happening in north Wales whilst Gyles did all this? The allegations that children in care had been sexually molested – particularly boys in the homes Bryn Estyn and Bryn Alyn near Wrexham, about 12 miles from Chester, came thick and fast. In Jan 1992, Dean Nelson, a journalist preparing a story for the Independent, returned to north Wales to look for evidence against Gordon Anglesea, a senior officer with the North Wales Police. (Anglesea was finally convicted and imprisoned for abusing boys in care in Wrexham last year.) In the same month that Gyles dined with the Retired Masonic Fellowship – March 1992 – police carried out dawn raids in Wrexham and arrested 16 men and one woman, all but one being former staff of Bryn Estyn. ‘No evidence’ of pornography or a paedophile ring was discovered and 16 of those arrested were released with no charges by the end of the day. (In the following years, a number of them were arrested again, convicted and imprisoned for the abuse of boys in care in north Wales.)

In the hours leading up to polling day, Gyles notes in his diary how deeply unsavoury Labour activists are – ‘ugly’, ‘red-faced’, ‘appallingly overweight’. He does concede however that they do a bit better than the Tory activists in meeting ‘the old dears’ during the campaign. Sadly for the Labour Party, meeting the old dears wasn’t enough and on 10 April 1992 Gyles was elected MP for Chester. How chuffed he was! The first person outside of his constituency to congratulate him seems to have been David Hunt, Secretary of State for Wales, who sent him a letter on official Welsh Office paper which even had the address of the Welsh Office printed in Welsh. Shortly after Gyles’s victory, his old mucker the Duke of Edinburgh and HM the Queen visit Chester to distribute Maundy money – the Chester Tories were delighted to see them. Letters of congratulation to Gyles then came thick and fast from John Major, Michael Portillo and Norman St John Stevas!

There is then a gap in Gyles’s account until 23 April 1992 when he notes that Frankie Howerd has died.

During the two weeks or so that Gyles keeps us guessing with regard to his own activities, an event in Brighton took place which no-one with an interest in the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal will ever forget. On 18 April 1992 a fire broke out in a flat at a party – a number of people attending the party had formerly been in care in north Wales or were close to people who had been. Five people were killed – two died from multiple injuries when they tried to jump to safety, one died after losing his grip whilst hanging onto the building at a height and two people died of smoke inhalation after being trapped in the flat. Seven people managed to escape by climbing down a drainpipe at the back of the building and several other people impaled themselves on railings after jumping to safety. A man called Trevor Carrington allegedly confessed to starting the fire – he was found dead days after his ‘confession’.

A verdict of unlawful killing was eventually returned regarding the arson attack. One witness has stated that John Allen, the owner of the Bryn Alyn Community where children were abused, told him that he would meet them at the party but Allen never turned up. John Allen is currently in prison after being convicted of abusing children in care in north Wales. John Allen also ran a business in child porn and owned a number of brothels in London and Brighton to which he trafficked boys who’d been in care in north Wales. One former resident of the children’s homes in north Wales who didn’t die in the fire but who was seriously injured alleged that the former residents of the children’s homes had been murdered and that they had knowledge of sexual liaisons involving politicians. This man later gave evidence against John Allen in Court. He was found dead days afterwards. For further details of the Brighton fire see posts ‘The Silence Of The Welsh Lambs’ and ‘Updates, Common Themes and News, May 5 2017’.

In the days and weeks that followed the murder of five people who might well have been able to act as witnesses against Peter Morrison and others, Gyles got down to business in his new role as MP for Chester. In his maiden speech in the Commons he mentioned that ‘Peter [Morrison] served the Prime Minister’s illustrious predecessor so ably and so loyally’. Michele had by now started bitching about the low salaries of MPs but Gyles notes that at least now that he’s been elected his train and air fares are paid for. He gloats about making an insulting speech directed at Neil Kinnock which he passes off as his own but has actually been scripted word for word by the Whips’ Office. He mentions the presence of Sir Nicholas Fairbairn in the House and describes him as ‘mad’ and ‘perpetually drunk’. Fairbairn has since been accused by a woman whose father was friends with him of molesting her when she was a child.

Not that the world had yet finished with anyone who was still alive who might be able to give evidence against the people who abused children in care in north Wales. In May 1992, an Early Day Motion was tabled by Plaid MP Elfyn Llwyd opposing the closure of Garth Angharad. Garth Angharad was described as a ‘hospital for mentally abnormal criminals’ and was owned by Paul Hett, a struck-off solicitor who was later condemned at the Waterhouse Inquiry and who also owned and ran a number of ‘residential schools’ in which children were abused. People who alleged that they’d been abused in care tended to find themselves in Garth Angharad. For the names and backgrounds of everyone who signed that EDM please see posts ‘Further Information On Garth Angharad Hospital’ and ‘More On Those Who Signed That Early Day Motion’.

Thus Gyles’s career in politics was launched. As well as the five people who died in the Brighton fire, in 1992 two other former residents in children’s homes in north Wales were found dead as well. In Sept 1992 The Observer ran a story on child abuse in north Wales children’s homes and two former residents appeared on TV accusing Gordon Anglesea of having abused them. After the programme was broadcast another former resident rang the BBC and made further allegations. Not that any of this is mentioned in Gyles’s book – although he does document other scandals such as David Mellor’s affair and the subsequent tabloid revelations.

So whilst Conservative Central Office flooded Chester with Tory bigwigs prior to the election and Tories in Chester discussed Morrison’s ‘sexual preferences’, the folk on the doorstep told Brandreth that Morrison was molesting under-aged boys. Which indeed he was. The whole of the City of Chester Conservative Association will have known what Morrison was doing yet no-one said a word to the police who were investigating an alleged paedophile ring a few miles down the road. Neither did any of them speak up after the Jillings Investigation (see post ‘It’s A Piece Of Cake’ for the details of the Jillings investigation and just how dreadful the abuse of children that had gone on was) or during or after the Waterhouse Inquiry, the cover-up organised by William Hague ie. the guest of honour at the Tories Conference who had so impressed Gyles four years previously. Chester is renowned as a centre of law. My documents are littered with the names of legal professionals and judges in Chester who were party to perjury. Gyles will have come across them – it would not be possible to be the MP for Chester and not encounter them. Gyles rubbed noses with other people who have been involved in the cover up or who knew what was going on and kept quiet, such as David Waddington, Matthew Parris and Edwina Currie. As for Norman St John Stevas, that devotee of the Queen Mother, who was another to congratulate Gyles on his election victory – well when I worked at St George’s, there was someone else who worked there who was a young gay man well-acquainted with the gay scene at the time. He told me then that there was a problem with some politicians abusing children. One name that he mentioned was that of Norman St John Stevas – he told me that it was common knowledge that ‘he is holding spanking parties with little boys’ and that ‘no-one knows how he is getting away with it’. Well in north Wales and Brighton someone got away with murdering the witnesses.

So what of the people who knew what Morrison was up to but remained silent, which is why he at least got away with it. The President of the City of Chester Conservative Association, Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster. A big mate of Prince Charles. A mentor to Prince William whilst William was growing up. Gerald Cavendish’s son is godfather to Prince George. Gerald’s wife is William’s godmother. Gerald died in August 2016 ‘suddenly’ when he was only 64. A statement was issued at the time saying curiously that there were no suspicious circumstances. It was later alleged that he’d had a heart attack. In 1998 Gerald Cavendish experienced severe depression which was attributed to the strain of running his business. He was the third richest man in the UK and owned swathes of Belgravia and Mayfair, as well as Scotland, so he can’t have been worried about money. In 2000 it was said that he had suffered a nervous breakdown.

Gerald Cavendish enjoyed field sports, was an enthusiastic member of the Territorial Army – he reached the rank of Major-General – and was involved with many charities. His charity work included benevolent work for services personnel and working with young offenders and drugs. Rather like Dr Dafydd Alun Jones, one of the Top Doctors who concealed the paedophile gang in north Wales! Gerald was a Committee Member of Nuffield Hospitals from 1995 until his death. There’s a Nuffield Hospital in Chester – Dafydd worked there! Gerald was a life Vice-President of the NSPCC from 1988 until his death. The NSPCC that said nothing about the child abuse in north Wales, the NSPCC which was ‘supported’ by Jimmy Savile, the NSPCC that worked with and then merged with Esther Rantzen’s Childline – which ignored calls from youngsters who were abused in care in north Wales. The NSPCC who – very inappropriately  – were involved in running the ‘helpline’ for adults who were giving evidence in the police investigation into the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal in the 1990s. The NSPCC helpline was managed and staffed by colleagues of the paedophiles. At least one of the people being ‘supported’ was found dead whilst they were being ‘supported’ by the helpline. Gerald was the President of Scope 1982-2005 and President of RNIB. He was Pro-Chancellor of Keele University 1986-93. Jane Tunstill, one of the members of Jillings’s team appointed to investigate child abuse in Clwyd in 1994, obtained a Chair at Keele University immediately upon finishing the investigation. The Jillings report maintained that there was widespread serious child abuse happening in Clwyd children’s homes but overtly stated that they would not speculate on whether a paedophile ring was in operation. Gerald was Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University 1992-2002 and Chancellor of the University of Chester 1995-2016. Then Gyles became Chancellor! Gerald was also a Committee Member for the Prince’s Trust and Patron for the Princes’s Trust for North West England from 2001. A number of other people named on this blog as concealing the paedophile gang in north Wales were members of the Prince’s Trust.

Gerald was the executor of Diana, Princess of Wales’s will.

Gerald was a very influential man. I suspect that if he had chosen not to back Morrison, Morrison would have been finished.

In 2007 Gerald Cavendish stepped down as Assistant Chief of Defence Staff (Reserves and Cadets) after prostitutes working for the very expensive U.S. escort agency Emperor’s Club named him as one of their clients. The most high profile scalp in the scandal was that of New York Governor Eliot Spitz who also resigned as a result of it. Mr Spitz had spent so many thousands of dollars with the Emperor’s Club that he had resorted to some creative accounting in order to try to cover his tracks but was found out. Gerald Cavendish was so rich that he won’t have needed to do that.

Gyles’s book mentions two other loyal members of the City of Chester Conservative Association – Gwyn Gough, the Secretary and Jill Everett, the Deputy Chairman. So they ‘managed’ the time bomb that was Peter Morrison as well then.

Jeremy Hanley, Gyles’s mate who cracked jokes about Morrison knowing how to carry a handbag is Sir Jeremy Hanley, who was Conservative MP for Richmond and Barnes 1983-97. So he was Brandreth’s local MP then before Gyles ever got a sniff of standing for Chester. Hanley was Conservative Party Chairman 1994-95. He was for a brief time PPS to Chris Patten – who was Party Chairman whilst Brandreth was crawling his way into the Commons. After he left politics, Hanley went in for being a company director, including a Director of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce.

What about Morrison’s membership of those ‘exclusive’ clubs which so impressed Gyles, White’s and Pratt’s? There are an awful lot of members of White’s who, like the Duke of Westminster, could have finished Morrison off if they’d chosen to publicise what seemed to be an open secret among people who knew Morrison. Members of White’s include Prince Charles (he held his stag party there before marrying Diana), Prince William, Norman Lamont and Geordie Greig. Greig is at present the Editor of the Mail On Sunday. He previously worked on The Sunday Times and has also been the Editorial Director of The Independent On Sunday and the Independent. Greig’s sister was a Lady in Waiting to Diana. David Cameron was a member of White’s until 2008 when he resigned because White’s refused to admit women. Cameron’s father Ian had been a member for donkeys years and was the former Chairman. So who let Morrison in then?

So that, based on Gyles’s own account, is how It Was The Sun Wot Won It. Assisted by a Tory Party who knew that they had a child molester in their midst but were buggered if those ugly, red-faced, appallingly overweight Labour activists were going to win the day – and of course helped by someone who was prepared to murder the witnesses. At least Gyles’s greedy social climbing vile empty headed wife Michele now has Serious Money. How does it feel then Michele? Was it worth the brutalisation, rape and murder of a considerable number of young people who were drawn from the social class that you despise? Or do you manage to put that out of your tiny brain when you and Gyles are talking Teddy Bear Museums with the Royals?

Before finishing this post I just clicked on BBC News Wales online and I see that an enormous row has broken out over a fairly innocuous tweet sent out by Leanne Wood. In response to the Barcelona attack, Leanne tweeted ‘Ofnadwy/terrible. Is this more far-right terrorism? My thoughts are with all those affected’. The world and his wife have gone apeshit, particularly the Welsh Conservatives and UKIP. Janet Finch-Saunders, Conservative AM for Aberconwy, has said that Leanne’s tweet was ‘morally depraved’. No Janet, that was Peter Morrison, all those who kept quiet about him and whoever it was who killed the witnesses. UKIP have tweeted to Leanne ‘how dare you associate us with murderers?’ Er – I hate to draw this to your attention UKIP, but one of your leading lights in Wales is a man called Neil Hamilton. Who knew a man called Peter Morrison very well indeed – and someone killed a number of people who’s testimony could have put Peter Morrison behind bars. As if on cue, dear old Hamilton himself has waded into the fray and is quoted on BBC News Wales as saying that ‘Leanne Wood is clearly not fit for purpose. She is an embarrassment not only to Plaid Cymru but to the whole of Wales’.

This is the Neil Hamilton who lost his seat in Cheshire in 1997 after getting himself in the most appalling mess after some events involving cash in envelopes. Conservative Central Office begged him not to stand because he was far more of an embarrassment than Leanne could ever be, but Neil stood anyway. He was opposed by BBC journalist Martin Bell who stood on an anti-sleaze ticket. Neil’s wife Christine – who Gyles found to be such a delight, just like Peter Morrison – harangued Martin Bell in public and memorably asked who would vote for a man who wore a white suit. As it turned out, thousands of people would and they did, because they were desperate to see the back of the Hamiltons. Years later Neil Hamilton sneaked into the Senedd – I suspect because most of the people who voted for him didn’t know what he’d done in Tatton in the 1980s and 90s and they certainly won’t have known what he did when he was in the Federation of Conservative Students. But even the political geeks who did know probably weren’t aware that he was mates with a man who was known among the voters of Chester to be molesting children. Come off it Neil and Christine, you’ll have heard what Morrison was up to – and anyway Gyles has now admitted it to the world in his autobiography.

When ‘Breaking the Code’ was published, Brandreth was on record as saying that the Whips take a very harsh view of anyone who leaks their practices, but he thinks that they’ll probably forgive him. But is the wider world going to forgive you for keeping quiet about a child molester when witnesses to the gang that he was part of were murdered Gyles?
