He Got On His Bike And Looked For Work

My post ‘Sleeping With The Fishes’ described how, in the 1980s, UCNW (Bangor University) accepted local young people on work placement schemes with the Manpower Services Commission (MSC). One such ‘trainee’, T, with the Zoology Dept, lodged in our student house on Anglesey for one terrible term and it took us a very long while to recover from her presence. T stole from us, never paid any rent, left without notice owing us hundreds of pounds and made a false allegation of rape against a young man in Bangor. As for T’s activities in the Zoology Dept, on one occasion she got completely bladdered and couldn’t walk, so had to be carried out of the building by the workmen. She also lied about feeding and watering the research animals, who died as a result.

The authorities at UCNW were well aware of what a liability this ‘trainee’ was and we had all told our tutors and the Student Health Centre what was going on and asked for help. We were ignored. I was also aware that Dr Phil W. White, a GP in Menai Bridge, was prescribing T a combination of drugs that could have killed her, because she was drinking with them. White knew that T was drinking. White however surpassed himself a while later when T discovered that she was pregnant and panicked. White told her to stop making such a fuss. I understand that T’s baby was eventually taken into care because, fairly obviously, she was incapable of looking after a baby and no-one was going to help her.

At the time, because we were 20 and students, it was a case of ‘Christ, what is she going to do next?’, but now that I’ve hit middle age I can only marvel at the dereliction of duty of care on the part of both the MSC and UCNW with regard to T. T was 17 when she turned up, so they were probably supposed to be in loco parentis. T returned to her parents in north Anglesey some months later owing money everywhere – thousands – under investigation by the police for conduct likely to pervert the course of justice and pregnant. I cannot imagine that her mum and dad were too happy.

The MSC trainees were allocated a supervisor and T’s was a rather ineffectual former teacher from England who wasn’t able to get a teaching job in Gwynedd because she couldn’t speak Welsh.  On one occasion I spent the morning with this supervisor and explained very clearly that T was not capable of any sort of independent living and there was not going to be a happy ending if someone didn’t step in. There was no action forthcoming. However I did find out from the supervisor that T had not coped at all well on the outward bound residential course that the trainees had been sent on. The supervisor knew this because in true north Wales cronyism style, her own daughter, who I think was a social worker, had been responsible for taking T and co on the outward bound course.

When T returned from the outward bound course, she was covered in bruises and injuries, more than one would have hoped for if one was taking a group of teenagers out into the mountains. We gained the impression that the supervision was not what it should have been, an impression reinforced when T made some comments which suggested that there had been sexual activity between the MSC trainees on the outward bound course.

North Wales is full of outward bound centres and some of them are excellent. However, the standards vary and even those offering mountain leadership training differ in rigour. I know one teacher – well-networked into the paedophiles’ friends herself – who in 2001 told me that she wasn’t going to do her mountain leadership at Plas-y-Brenin because it was ‘too tough’ there, she was going to another centre to complete the qualification, which was known as being the ‘easiest’ in north Wales. She subsequently took a teenaged girl up into Snowdonia on a difficult route, after being warned that the route was far too tough for the girl concerned, only to witness the teenager collapse and need the help of the mountain rescue team to get her off the mountain.

I don’t know which centre T et al visited, but in the 1980s, those outward bound centres were often the domain of the paedophile gang, as all those kids in care were given ‘experiences’ in the mountains.

Following T’s false reporting of a rape, a file was sent to the DPP, as it was felt that T’s lies over the course of several weeks did rather go beyond the bounds of a frightened/distressed/confused young woman and amounted to a fairly serious attempt to have an innocent man convicted. The CPS did not prosecute. Which suggests that the paedophiles’ friends were concealing something that was at risk of being discovered if publicity fell upon this young woman’s conduct while on the MSC scheme.

Many of the young people employed on the Manpower Services Commission scheme at UCNW had already been victims of the paedophiles’ friends. I knew that at least one of the young men, S, who was on the residential  course with T, was a patient of Dr Tony Francis. This young man had experienced problems before his parents moved to Anglesey – his father was an academic who had been made redundant  in the ‘cuts’ of the 1980s – but S ending up in the hands of the Top Doctors in north Wales will have resulted in nothing but harm, although as Brown observed because S had supportive middle class parents he’ll have been cushioned from the extremes of the North Wales Psychiatry Experience.

Sir Melvyn Rosser was appointed as the Chairman of the MSC Committee for Wales in 1980 and was reappointed in 1983; I mentioned in an earlier post that I can only conclude that Rosser must have fallen from grace in some way, because although he held a number of high profile public roles until the late 1990s, there is little information about him online, simply records stating that he was Chairman of HTV Group, 1986-91 and President of Aberystwyth University, 1985-97. There is a file under Rosser’s name in the National Archives, 1974-76, but it hasn’t been digitised so I have not been able to access it online. There is no indication as to what aspects of Sir Melvyn’s work the file concerns. Rosser must have done a few favours for someone many years ago because he was knighted in 1974.

Hansard, March 1985, records that Ron Davies, the Labour MP for Caerphilly, asked Nicholas Edwards, then Secretary of State for Wales, if ‘he will list all those appointments held under his patronage’ by Sir Melvyn ‘since 1979’. Edwards replied that ‘I have not appointed Sir Melvyn Rosser to any public body in Wales for which I am the responsible appointing Minister. I was consulted by the Chairman of the Manpower Services Commission prior to Sir Melvyn’s initial appointment as Chairman of the MSC Committee for Wales in 1980 and on his reappointment in 1983’.

So I presume that in 1985 Melvyn Rosser and his appointments were being questioned, although he was nonetheless subsequently given the HTV Group and Aberystwyth University to play with.

Melvyn Rosser was leading the Wales branch of the MSC at the time when the victims of Dafydd et al were left to their own devices ‘on placement’ at UCNW, although some of them were under 18 yrs old and obviously not coping with ‘independent living’.

The person responsible for the MSC’s employment rehabilitation programme for disabled people in the mid-1980s was none other than Huw Vaughan Thomas, who did a stint as Chief Exec of Denbighshire County Council and succeeded Ioan Bowen Rees as Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council. Huw Vaughan Thomas was as comfortable as Ioan had been with a paedophile gang operating within the Council’s children’s homes, he refused to respond to any concerns at all (see post ‘I Know Nuzzing…).

Huw was an adviser to the Welsh Office as the dawn of the National Assembly was in view and then became Auditor General for Wales, after the previous Auditor General, Jeremy Colman, was jailed for the possession of child porn. Huw has clocked up a truly impressive list of public appointments, even by the standards of a paedophiles’ friend, as has his wife Enid Rowlands, who among many other things, was a member of the North Wales Health Authority (see post ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’). Enid is a member of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority, which is only understandable for someone who’s husband allowed a paedophile gang to rage within the children’s homes for which he was responsible and who was involved in a major scandal herself involving the disappearance of a large sum of public money followed by allegations of conflict of interest into the bargain. Should anyone delude themselves that they can escape Enid by ‘going private’, oh no you can’t, she was involved with BUPA as well.

Enid and Huw have a son. His career got off to a flying start when he was given a training place in the National Auditor for Wales’s Office, where his dad occupied the most senior position. I look forward to Thomas minor joining an NHS Board very soon, it’ll be in his genes.

The man who Chaired the MSC on a UK wide level, 1976-82, so who was in post when Rosser and Huw Vaughan Thomas were appointed, was Sir Richard O’Brien.

Richard O’ Brien led a distinguished career in public service, which spanned several Gov’ts. O’Brien was Director of the CBI’s industrial policy committee in the early 1970s and was described as being ‘at heart of the postwar consensus in favour of Gov’t intervention and planning’. In 1976 Callaghan’s Gov’t appointed O’Brien as Chairman of the MSC. In 1979 Thatch confirmed O’Brien’s appointment as the first Chairman of the Crown Appointments Commission to appoint an Archbishop of Canterbury. O’Brien recommended Robert Runcie.

After the Scarman Report which followed the inner-city riots of the early 1980s, Runcie invited O’Brien to Chair the Commission which led to the 1985 report ‘Faith in the City’. An unnamed Cabinet Minister dismissed the Report as ‘Marxist’ and Thatch complained that there was nothing in it about ‘self-help or doing anything for yourself’. It was perceived that ‘Faith in the City’ led to very great strains between some members of Thatcher’s Gov’t and the Church of England, which resulted in Tebbit being as rude as he felt able to be to C of E Bishops on ‘Question Time’ and Thatch making comments about the Bishops being ‘cuckoos in the nest’. Yet Douglas Hurd, then Home Secretary, ‘was impressed by the conclusions on crime’, drawn by ‘Faith in the City’ whilst Heseltine, then Secretary of State for Defence, stated that the Bishops had got it wrong and ‘conditions in the inner cities are much worse than they say’.

At the time Hurd was Home Secretary, running a Home Office that was actively colluding with the serious organised crime in north Wales on the part of Dafydd and the gang and ignoring the appalling events and constant deaths at Risley Remand Centre (see posts ‘Security, Security’ and ‘Include Me Out’). Hurd was the nephew of the botanist Professor Edred Henry Corner, who knew Prof Greig-Smith of the Plant Biology Dept at UCNW, whose colleagues were concealing the activities of Dafydd and the gang. Furthermore, Greig-Smith’s colleague Chris Wood was married to Dr D.G.E. Wood, the corrupt GP who was facilitating the gang. Greig-Smith and Chris Wood were particularly helpful to one mature student, Gaye Kennaway. Gaye was married to Ian Kennaway, who was Director of Regions for the National Trust (see post ‘Additional Security Measures’).

During the mid-1980s, Penrhyn Castle, which was under the control of the NT, ran an MSC scheme which employed the victims of Dafydd and the paedophiles, many of whom were witnesses to crime so serious that had anyone listened to them their evidence could have put a few people behind bars (see posts ‘That’s Entertainment’ and ‘Today We Have Naming Of Parts’). My post ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’ describes the situation of the teenaged girls employed on the MSC scheme as nursery assistants in the UCNW creche for the children of staff and students in 1982. The girls were not mentored, they were completely out of their depth and there were a lot of things happening in that nursery that should not have been happening and people allowed access to the nursery who should not have been.

The nursery was located in the Students’ Union building and I have explained in previous posts how every SU sabbatical officer was a lackey who concealed the activities of Dafydd and the gang. Duncan Orme, the Welfare Officer, was rewarded with a career in NHS senior management after crapping himself and fleeing when I approached him about Gwynne the lobotomist, the forged documents and the threats made to Brown and I (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’). Fiona Woolmer the Wimmin’s Officer bollocked on about campaigning to have VAT removed from sanitary products but failed to breathe a word about the trafficking gang which was targeting vulnerable wimmin students (see post ‘Just A Language Divide’), a man called Aiden was busying himself with Irish Republican activity and Martyn was the Gay Rights Champ which would normally be a benign role but the sex trafficking ring were targeting male students and schoolboys and the Chester branch of CHE was alleged to have been a front for paedophilia. Dear old Fran Tate was Welfare Officer at some point after Duncan Orme, which led Fran into a lifelong fulfilling career in north Wales as a paedophiles’ friend of the highest order (see post ‘The Bloody State We’re In’). One of the SU Presidents embezzled a large sum of money from the coffers of the SU but was not prosecuted and received references and a cheery wave to see him on his way. The richest student society was CA (Community Action), which ‘helped out’ at Ty’r Felin children’s home, where the kids were battered, raped and trafficked to locations including Dolphin Square. CA had its own minibus and salaried organiser.

So how I laughed when years after the rest of the world woke up to the excesses of apartheid South Africa, UCNW SU announced that they would be banning the sale of Nestle chocolate products in the SU shop and would be renaming the SU watering hole ‘The Mandela Bar’. While all this went on, the branch of Barclays Bank in the SU continued to do a roaring trade. It was located next to the shop that refused to sell Nestle chocs. The SU sabbatical officers were such dipsticks that I can only presume that someone at an NUS conference told them about Nestle’s interests in South Africa because they were completely unaware of the wider world. There were bright political students at UNCW, but they steered well clear of the SU because it was dominated by embryonic paedophiles’ friends.

Friends at other universities told me that they too gave up with student politics because it was dominated by complete wankers. I used to think that perhaps the levels of engagement and awareness was higher at elite institutions such as Oxford, but I don’t think that they were. It was once more the wankers who flooded through the doors into student politics, but richer more privileged wankers who had believed that they were Prime Ministerial material since the age of 12. Indeed they were Prime Ministerial material and just look at the mess.

As for Heseltine’s concern for urban deprivation, readers can read all about what he did with the info regarding the crimes of Dafydd et al in my post ‘Those Who Are Ready to Serve’.

‘Faith in the City’ led to the establishment of a Church Urban Fund – of which Richard O’Brien was Vice Chairman – to strengthen the Church’s work in the inner-cities, which led to the Church coming up sharp against the kids in care who had been trafficked from north Wales into sex work in the inner cities. No-one said a word, even when those young people were dying of AIDS. The Church and other organisations simply used their knowledge of how those former kids in care contracted AIDS to extract funding from Gov’t for their work with AIDS patients, which was given a PR boost by the patronage of high profile celebs, including Princess Di (see posts ‘Apocalypse Now’ and ‘The Bodies Buried Under Canary Wharf’). Di was married to the man who was Chancellor of UCNW and who refused to ‘get involved’ after Alison Taylor wrote to him in the late 1980s telling him that children in care were being abused in north Wales.

Richard O’Brien grew up in Derbyshire, the son of a Top Doctor. In the 1980s there was a paedophile ring in Derbyshire with links to Dafydd’s gang in north Wales. As in north Wales, it seemed that the organised abuse of children in Derbyshire had stretched back decades and had been concealed by the usual culprits – the police, Top Doctors, social services, politicians etc. O’Brien studied law at Clare College Cambridge and had an outstanding record of service in WWII, during which time he acted as personal assistant to Field Marshal Montgomery. Their relationship developed into a friendship which continued after the war and Montgomery took O’Brien to Number 10 and introduced him to Attlee. O’Brien would definitely have had links with the security services.

After retiring from the Army, for two years O’Brien was the Development Officer for the National Association of Boys’ Clubs. O’Brien took up this role after being inspired by Attlee’s work with the same organisation. He then took up a career in engineering. O’Brien was Director of Industrial Relations at the British Motor Corporation (later known as British Leyland), 1961-66 and was an adviser to Harold Wilson’s Dept of Economic Affairs, 1966-68, under Ministers Michael Stewart and then Peter Shore.

Peter Shore was the Labour MP for Bethnal Green and Stepney and then Stepney and Poplar (1964-83) and a Cabinet Minister in Wilson’s and Callaghan’s Gov’ts. Shore knew about kids from north Wales being trafficked to his patch and he also knew why so many of them began dying of HIV in the 1980s. Shore remained schtum but was most helpful to all those good hearted people linked to Dafydd’s associates who helped the poor things dying from AIDS (see post ‘Apocalypse Now’ and ‘The Bodies Buried Under Canary Wharf’).

It was Michael Foot, in his capacity as Employment Secretary in Wilson’s Gov’t, who appointed O’Brien as Chair of the MSC in Feb 1976. Footie himself concealed a great deal of crime related to the sexual exploitation of vulnerable people, including children and there are indications that his own sexual activities were potentially scandalous but he successfully kept them out of the press because of the dirt that he had on the press barons (see post ‘Oh, No! It’s The Pathetic Sharks…!’). I have only just woken up to the fact that Footie was Lord President of the Council, April 1976-May 1979, which made him the visitor for UCNW. At the time, Sir Charles Evans’s management of the institution was so bad that Dafydd Wigley asked Shirl, as Education Secretary, to hold a public inquiry into the matter. Shirl refused, which was just as well because the institution was facilitating Dafydd’s sex trafficking gang which so many people had a vested interest in concealing that Parliament would have collapsed if Shirl had even scratched the surface.

Francis Urquhart.jpg

‘Tell me Mr Urquhart, is Dr Dafydd Alun Jones an insane incompetent old fool who is only tolerated because he’s running the Westminster Paedophile Ring?’

‘You might very well think that; I couldn’t possibly comment.’

Dr Dafydd Alun Jones

House of Cards (BBC).png

It’s almost as if ‘House of Cards’ was written by someone who knew something of what was going on in 1990, when the BBC screened the drama. The story line revolved around murderous politicians and in the 2013 US remake, Francis Urquhart metamorphosed into ‘Frank Underwood’. Frank was Tony Francis’s middle name, it appeared on all those affidavits that he swore when he was perjuring himself.

‘House of Cards’ was written by Michael Dobbs. From 1977 to 1979, Dobbs was an adviser to Thatch, then leader of the Opposition. From 1979 to 1981, he was a Conservative MP speechwriter. From 1981 to 1986, Dobbs served as a Government Spad. From 1986 to 1987, he was the Conservative Party Chief of Staff. Considered a ‘masterful political operator’, he was called ‘Westminster’s baby-faced hit man’, by ‘The Guardian’ in 1987. From 1994 to 1995, Dobbs served Major’s Gov’t as Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party. In addition, Dobbs was Deputy Advertising Chairman at Saatchi & Saatchi, 1983-86, then Director of Worldwide Corporate Communications, 1987-88 and Deputy Chairman, working directly under Maurice Saatchi, 1988-91.

Michael Dobbs has stated that he wrote ‘House of Cards’ after witnessing a particularly dreadful scene involving Thatch.

Michael: I didn’t watch ‘House of Cards’, but my house mates did. I was working at St George’s Hospital Medical School when it was screened in the UK and I was the target of the sociopaths upon which you based your TV drama. The nation loved it, but if you ever find that you are working with murdering child abusers again and that I and my friends are the people whom they have in the sight of their cross-hairs, could you pop over to my place and warn me please? Thanks.

In April 1992, days after John Major won the General Election, the firebomb in Brighton killed five witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal (see post ‘The Silence Of The Welsh Lambs’).

Thanks Mike!!!

‘House of Cards’ didn’t contain a character called ‘Dafydd’, because it’s an unusual name in England and it would have been a bit of a giveaway. Furthermore, had Dobbs based a fictional character on the real thing, his drama would have been dismissed out of hand as being so ludicrous that the BBC wouldn’t have screened it. Having said that, the BBC did employ Jimmy Savile, so they knew that truth is stranger than fiction.

Savile visited Bryn Estyn, where one boy alleged that Savile watched as the boy was raped by a group of men.

Marmaduke James Hussey, Baron Hussey of North Bradley, Chairman of the BBC Board of Governors, 1986-96:

Marmaduke was married to Susan Katharine Hussey, Baroness Hussey of North Bradley, Lady in Waiting to Lilibet and Godmother of Prince William:

Lady Susan with friends:

Lady Susan is the sister of The Lord Waldegrave of North Hill who was Secretary of State for Health, Nov 1990-April 1992 and who has been Provost of Eton College since Feb 2009:

In Dec 1986 Professor Oliver Brooke, the Prof of Paediatrics at that institution favoured by the privileged, St George’s Hospital Medical School, was imprisoned for his vast collection of child porn.

It was Tebbit who in 1981 did not renew Richard O’Brien’s appointment at the MSC, although O’Brien thought that Thatch was behind the decision. Lord David Young replaced O’Brien. David Young was Thatcher’s mate who was responsible for pushing through the privatisation agenda. Thatch viewed David Young as personally loyal to her and in March 1987 appointed him to a central role in planning the 1987 General Election campaign. Young was responsible for organising Thatch’s tours and appearances on TV. One week before polling day on June 4 1987, Young and Tebs had a major disagreement about campaign strategy, on the day that has become known as ‘Wobbly Thursday’. Young is said to have grabbed Tebs by the lapels and said to him ‘Norman, listen to me, we are about to lose this fucking election’.

No you weren’t David, because you were imprisoning and killing the witnesses who could have gone public about Sir Peter Morrison, who was at the time molesting children in north Wales while he doubled up as Conservative Party Deputy Chairman.

Sir Peter Morrison
Peter Morrison, British MP and Conservative Party politician.jpg

The Tory Party Chairman for much of the time when Morrison was Deputy Chairman was this old war horse, who’s dad didn’t riot but got on his bike and looked for work:

Official portrait of Lord Tebbit crop 2.jpg

Morrison’s sister Dame Mary spent most of her life as Woman of the Bedchamber to Lilibet.

The month following the Tories’ 1987 General Election victory, Dafydd and the paedophile gang made a well-planned, co-ordinated effort to frame and imprison me for ‘attempting to stab a doctor’. The Mental Health Act Commission and Risley Remand Centre were on board with the conspiracy, as evidenced by copies of letters that are now in my possession written by David Ewart of the Mental Health Act Commission’s Liverpool office. The plan failed thanks to  a nursing officer, Jeff Crowther, making a statement in which he admitted that I had not attempted to stab anyone and Sgt Morgan in Bangor Police Station protected me further by refusing to take untruthful statements from staff at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh who were ringing him up making allegations against me as I sat in front of him and also by preventing D.G.E. Wood from coming into my cell. See posts ‘Workers’ Play Time’ and ‘Security, Security’.

Jeff Crowther left north Wales just before the Waterhouse Inquiry opened, after his wife died while ‘in the care of Ysbyty Gwynedd’ and a drug addict threatened to kill him (see post ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’). Sgt Morgan’s career came to an end not long after he protected me, after he was found guilty of indecently assaulting a teenaged girl in custody. Jeff seemed to know that Sgt Morgan was going to be found guilty before Sgt Morgan was even put on trial.

Meanwhile, over at Labour Party HQ, Ron Davies – who subsequently became notorious for his ‘moment of madness’ with a male prostitute called Boogie and then an episode in which he was ‘looking for badgers’ – was journeying toward his eventual destination of Secretary of State for Wales under Blair. In 1987 the Windbag was still leader of the Labour Party and deluded himself that he was going to win the election (see post ‘I Warn You…’). The Windbag who had known Tony Francis when Francis was a student in Cardiff. The Windbag who was married to Glenys from Anglesey. Which was where the girl on the MSC scheme who encountered such problems was from as well as her colleague, S. Glenys and her family were personal friends of scores of those who had spent years concealing the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the paedophiles, including Lord Cledwyn, MP for Anglesey and one time Secretary of State for Wales  (see post ‘The Cradle Of Filth’).

At the time of and after the attempt by Dafydd et al to have me framed and imprisoned, a number of students from Leicester University – an institution heaving with paedophiles’ friends as detailed in previous posts, as a result of the presence of the Leicestershire paedophile ring involving Frank Beck and Greville Janner – knew what was happening to me. The students all had Radical Consciences and were involved with the SU at Leicester University and other leftist groups in the city, including Wimmin’s causes. One such person shared our house and was given extensive accounts of what was happening to me by both Brown and I. She and her friends read the statements in which the Top Docs perjured themselves. This person went to school with me in Somerset and was called Caroline Goodman then. By the time that we were living in Leicester she was known as Carrie Grant, but the last I heard she was living in Aberdeen, working as a teacher and using a different name. She is married to a retired economics lecture from Aberdeen University. Brown didn’t think that Caroline was involved with the paedophiles’ friends in Leicester, but I have been told that she definitely was and decided to keep quiet about what she knew was happening in north Wales.

Caroline’s Radical Conscience had its limits though. I made the mistake of telling her that I was very concerned at the fate of a Denbigh patient who had been unlawfully transferred to Risley Remand Centre, because I witnessed Dafydd’s mole Sister Janice Davies fit him up and then spread the word that he was violent and dangerous. This man had been previously accused of a sex offence and I very much suspected that he’d been fitted up for that as well. Caroline became very angry with me and screamed that she ‘didn’t give a fuck’ about this man. Well you’ll be delighted to know Caroline that he was almost certainly found dead in Risley Remand Centre, that tended to happen to the victims of Dafydd and the gang who stood accused of sex offences. I witnessed this man being fitted up in Jan 1987. I told Caroline – and other people – in Leicester about it over the summer of 1987.

18 Nov 1987, Kings Cross. 31 people died. I was due to pass through the station at the time of the fire but I’d been delayed so I missed it.

Just how thick and callous are you all?

After the 1987 General Election, David Young was promoted to Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. He served two years in the role and privatised the last of the state industries in the department. In May 1989 Young told Thatch that he would like to return to private life. He resigned from the Cabinet in 1989 but received an appointment as Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party to help Kenneth Baker reorganise Central Office and then stood down on the resignation of Margaret Thatcher.

Young returned to business as a Director of Salomon Inc and Executive Chairman of Cable and Wireless. From 1993 he was President of the Institute of Directors and from 1995 was Chairman of Council of University College, London, with which many paedophiles’ friends are associated.

Young was the first President of Jewish Care, 1990–1997.

In 1996 Young set up his own company, Young Associates Ltd, with two partners Simon Alberga and Yoav Kurtzbard, that actively invests in technology companies. He is Chairman and controlling shareholder of the Camcon Federation of companies, a Cambridge-based federation of companies with innovative technology in the Oil and Gas, Auto and Medical fields. Young is controlling shareholder and on the board of TSSI Systems Ltd, a long established company in security technology and in both these companies he works with Danny Chapchal. He is a substantial shareholder and Chairman of Deep Tek Ltd, a company with developed technology to enable operations in deep and ultra deep waters in the Oil and Gas sectors and in scientific exploration. Young is a substantial shareholder and Chairman of KashFlow Software Ltd, a leading provider of online accounting for SMEs.

Lord Young has a number of charitable interests including the Presidency of Chai Cancer Care and the Coram Trust, Chairman of the Chichester Festival Theatre and of the Jewish Museum London and Trustee of the Co-Existence Trust and the MBI Jaber Foundation. In December 2010, Young also became a Patron of Lifelites, the charity providing technology for children in hospices.

In June 2010, Young was appointed adviser to PM David Cameron by the Coalition Gov’t to review health and safety laws.

301 Moved Permanently

In October 2010, David Young was appointed Enterprise Adviser to Cameron and asked to conduct a ‘brutal’ review of the relationship of Gov’t to small firms. This resulted in a three-part review to Cameron on enterprise and small business.

In May 2012, Young delivered the first part of this review, entitled ‘Make Business Your Business’. Young highlighted the number of start-up businesses to indicate a growing culture of enterprise and entrepreneurship in the UK. The report introduced a new Gov’t programme, Start Up Loans, providing loans and mentoring to get a business venture started. In June 2013, Young delivered ‘Growing Your Business’, which looked at how new and developing small firms can grow and expand into new markets. In June 2014, Young reviewed the relevance of enterprise in education in ‘Enterprise for All’.

One of the wealthiest Top Doctors in north Wales, if not the wealthiest, is Dafydd. Dafydd’s partner in crime John Allen, who owned the Bryn Alyn Community as well as the brothels in Brighton and London to which he trafficked kids from children’s homes in north Wales, was a millionaire on the back of the profits from Bryn Alyn by the mid-1970s. Their business interests did very well under Health, Wilson and Callaghan, but the tills really rang out under Thatch.

Coutts cheque to buy off unscrupulous people? That’ll do nicely! See post ‘Upper Class Twit Of The Year – Shooting Themselves’.

Norman Tebbit appointed Richard O’Brien Chairman of the Engineering Industry Training Board in 1982 and O’Brien continued to serve with a number of other organisations concerned with training and education.

O’Brien was Chairman of the Policy Studies Institute, 1984-90, serving subsequently as its joint Chairman until 1998. Sociologist Tariq Modood was a Senior Research Fellow at the Policy Studies Institute, 1993-97. Tariq’s empire is at the University of Bristol, Dr D.G.E. Wood’s and Lord David Hunt’s alma mater. For many years now Tariq has been constructed as the leading authority on the sociology of ethnic minorities and New Labour really loved him. When I was doing my PhD I wrote to Tariq, not realising how rich and famous he was. I did not receive a reply. A couple of years later I mentioned this to a senior academic who laughed and said that Tariq was so important that he really would not concern himself with a PhD student, but I mustn’t feel embarrassed about contacting him if ever I met Tariq because Tariq wouldn’t even remember my e mail. This academic then let on that he had interviewed Tariq for a lecturing job before Tariq was quite so grand, but the panel decided not to appoint him because Tariq’s ‘sense of importance’ would make him impossible to work with.

So imagine my surprise when a couple of years later, I was involved in preparing a big research bid re ethnic minorities with some colleagues from Bradford, when I was told by one of the leading lights in ethnic minorities research in Bradford that if our bid was successful, we’d undoubtedly find one Tariq Modood knocking on our door and when we did, would we please not let him in because he was an unscrupulous nightmare. I subsequently got to know someone who had worked with Tariq and was told that he was at that point busy trying to ingratiate himself to Tony Blair. If one reads Modood’s work, one can see that he has significantly shifted his intellectual and political position over the years. The shift coincides with whichever policy the Gov’t of the day wishes to promote.

Tariq completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Durham University, when social scientists in that institution were concealing the paedophile gang operating in the north east which was linked to Dafydd’s gang in north Wales (see post ‘I Warn You…’). Professor Eric Sunderland was Professor of Anthropology at Durham, 1971-84 and then PVC, 1979-84. In 1984 the paedophiles’ friends of north Wales sent up a distress flare, Eric responded to the call and was duly installed as Principal of UCNW. After completing his first degrees at Durham, Tariq undertook a PGCE at Cardiff University and did his PhD at Swansea University, an institution dominated by the family of paedophiles’ friend Rhodri Morgan (see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’).

Richard O’Brien was a lifelong Anglican, a member of the Court of Advisers to St Paul’s Cathedral and involved in a number of charidees. He was a Trustee of HURT (Help Untwist Rape Trauma), the charity established by Jill Saward, the vicar’s daughter at the centre of the notorious Ealing Rape Case in 1986.

Although O’Brien was an establishment figure, he enjoyed hanging out with others considered radical. He was friends with E.P. Thompson, the Marxist historian from Warwick University. E.P. Thompson was a leading light in E.N.D. (European Nuclear Disarmament). More interestingly with regard to this blog’s subject matter, E.P. Thompson was a regular visitor to Croesor in north Wales, the village which hosted the ‘Welsh Bloomsbury set’, many of whom knew what Dafydd et al were doing (see post ‘The Village’). O’Brien was also friends with Lindsay Anderson, who directed the films ‘If…’ and ‘O Lucky Man’. ‘O Lucky Man’ was an alleged fantasy, which featured a lot of people doing the sort of things described on this blog.

Sir Richard O'Brien

It has now been acknowledged that Runcie concealed child abuse. A quick look at his biography suggests that Runcie will have concealed child abuse on an even grander scale than has been admitted.

David Sheppard was the cricketing Bishop of Liverpool, 1975-97, who also concealed child abuse and Sheppard knew a great deal about the havoc that Dafydd and the paedophiles were causing in Liverpool as well (see posts ‘These Sharks Are Crap As Well’ and ‘Apocalypse Now’).

So when I witnessed UCNW neglecting their duty of care towards vulnerable, not very capable teenagers on the MSC employment scheme in 1983-84, David Young was commanding the MSC on a UK-basis and Sir Melvyn Rosser was commanding the Wales arm of the MSC. Sir Peter Morrison was a Minister in the Dept of Employment at the time, under Secretary of State Tom King, who was personally known to a close relative of that unskilled manual worker in Somerset who found himself in receipt of a Coutts cheque at the time that there was such a strenuous effort on the part of the paedophile gang in north Wales to imprison me (see post ‘Upper Class Twit Of The Year – Shooting Themselves’).

Richard O’Brien went to Oundle School, Northamptonshire. As did Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, who owned the Brondanw estate in Croesor and let out his properties to E.P. Thompson and many others, who knew what Dafydd et al were up to (see post ‘The Village’). Other old Oundelians include:

Sir Kenneth Robinson, Labour MP and Minister of Health, 1964-68, under Harold Wilson. Robinson was the man who would do anything for the Top Docs and spent years at the helm of the National Association of Mental Health (MIND) when Dafydd was involved with that organisation and while it was concealing child abuse and even deaths of psychiatric patients. After years of such sterling service, Robinson was appointed as Chair of the Arts Council of Great Britain, a post usually occupied by those who have attained the status of paedophiles’ friends at an earlier stage in their careers. See post ‘The White Heat Of This Revolution’ for info on Robinson. Robinson was Health Minister when Dafydd was appointed as consultant to the North Wales Hospital Denbigh. Almost immediately, Dafydd was involved in a scandal concerning the serious neglect of patients which even made the pages of ‘The Times’.

Michael Wynn, 7th Baron Newborough. Lord Newborough owned estates in north Wales and served in the RNVR, along with so many paedophiles’ friends and would have known about their wrongdoing (see post ‘The Defence Of The Realm’). Michael Wynn is the father of the current Lord Newborough, who spent most of his career in the world’s financial centres but now runs the family estate and is a friend of Carlo (see post ‘Little Shop Of Horrors’).

Sir Peter Scott achieved fame as the naturalist who was behind Slimbridge and he also did much broadcasting with the BBC, along with David Attenborough. Attenborough’s father Frederick was Principal of the institution which became Leicester University (see post ‘Gwlad y Menig Gwynion’. Scott served in the RNVR. He was one of the founders of the World Wide Fund for Nature (formerly called the World Wildlife Fund), which entertained the nation as a result of its association with Prince Philip who enjoyed himself shooting wildlife at the time:

Peter Scott was Chancellor of Birmingham University, 1973-83, whilst it housed Professor Robert Bluglass (see post ‘Enter Professor Robert Bluglass CBE’) and Professor Ian Brockington (see post ‘Ian Brockington’s Mischief’), both of whom concealed the paedophile gang in north Wales.

Anthony Holden is a journo and a biographer, his most notable biography being one of Carlo.

Oundle has produced heaps of others who have occupied or do occupy positions of influence, including many people who attained high rank in the forces. Other old pupils include:

Alex Baldock, CEO of Dixons Carphone; Sir Howard Stringer, Chairman and CEO, Sony Corporation (Sony gave rock star Gruff Rhys – the son of Ioan Bowen Rees the Chief Exec of Gwynedd County Council while the paedophile gang did their worst in the Council’s children’s homes – that very favourable recording contract (see post ‘The International Language of Screaming’); Damian Grammaticas, BBC Europe Correspondent; David Lyon, International Development Correspondent of BBC News; Rufus Pollock, economist and founder of Open Knowledge International; Norman Smith, Assistant Political Editor of BBC News; Charles Wintour, newspaper editor; Lord Richard Allan, Lib Dem MP; Michael Beaumont, Conservative MP; Sir Roy Beldam, Lord Justice of Appeal; Caroline Criado Perez, feminist campaigner and writer; Lord Robert Dixon-Smith, Conservative MP; Lord Frederick Erroll, Conservative MP; Donald Gorrie, Lib Dem MP; Sir Herbert Palmer, Governor of Gambia and Cyprus; Ralph Bonner Pink, Conservative MP; David Reddaway, diplomat, Lord David Lockhart-Mure Renton, Conservative MP; Sir Joseph Simpson, Met Commissioner; Peter Thurnham, Conservative and Lib Dem MP; Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia; Michael Mustill, Law Lord; Michael Ashby, neurologist; Colin Bibby, conservationist; Sir Cyril Clarke, physician; Richard Dawkins, evolutionary biologist; Charles Fagge, surgeon; Sir Alister Hardy, marine biologist; John Harman, former Chairman of the BNF; Leslie Hilton Browne, ornithologist and agriculturalist; Richard Keynes, physiologist; Clive Minton, ornithologist; David Nabarro, UN system coordinator; Joseph Needham, biochemist; Robin Nicholson, Chief Scientific Adviser to the Cabinet; Alan Lindsay Mackay, crystallographer.

There are many, many more…

I have mentioned before that I was friendly with many zoology students, both undergrads and postgrads when I was an undergrad at UCNW in the 1980s. My friend Anne Vernon who was killed by the paedophiles’ friends in 1986 was a PhD student in the Dept of Zoology. I knew how fraught the relationships between the staff of the Zoology Dept were, as well as some of the relationships between the staff and the students, particularly the PhD students, some of whom complained of being treated very badly, even of having their career prospects damaged, by vindictive supervisors. The two academics in the Zoology Dept who seemed to have the worst track records for this were Cliff Rankin and Tony Pitcher.

I was told again and again that Rankin was having affairs with female students who would then secure jobs and postgrad places in return for their favours. I wasn’t sure whether to believe this until just before finals, one of my male house mates was given the firm offer of a PhD studentship by Rankin. After he’d achieved the required 2:1, my friend went to see Rankin to make arrangements to register for his PhD, only to be told by Rankin that he’d decided to give the studentship to another student. It was one of the girls with whom Rankin was having a relationship. It was said by the PhD students that this was characteristic of Rankin, no-one could plan their futures on any offers from him. This may be coincidental, but that housemate of mine was one of the people who knew what was happening to me at the hands of the Top Docs. After Rankin blew him out, he spent a year in Australia, where someone attempted to blackmail him, but I’m not sure what over. He then completed a PhD at Aberdeen University and ended up working as a researcher for a drug company in Kent. He was forced out of his job there in early 1991, when I was forced out of St George’s and my two friends working in the media were intimidated out of their house by a gangster and then forced out of their jobs at the Royal Television Society and the BBC (see post ‘The Turn Of The Screw’).

In my post ‘Upper Class Twit Of The Year – Shooting Themselves’, I described how there was barely a functioning health service in north Wales and the mental health services had been completely hijacked by the sex trafficking gang, so there was no real mental health care at all. Undergrads who developed mental health problems nearly always returned to their families in order to avoid the horrors of Gwynne the lobotomist, Dafydd et al and the postgrads just suffered. One of Cliff Rankin’s postgrads seemed to be very obviously in a fairly advanced state of anorexia, with dangerously low body weight. None of the staff batted an eyelid, although all the other students were commenting on this young woman becoming obviously quite ill.

Tony Pitcher was cohabiting on Anglesey with a young woman who was working as his research assistant – I think that she had previously been a student of his. I was very friendly with one of Pitcher’s (male) PhD students who told me that Pitcher was a real nightmare, very nasty and the only way of surviving was to get on with your work and give him a wide berth or you’d find that your career was somehow ruined. Pitcher’s foibles led to an incident with one of his PhD students in about 1985 which was so embarrassing for UCNW that it was hushed up and very few people knew about it. I did because my friend was on the scene when it happened, although he wouldn’t tell me what particular sin of Pitcher’s precipitated it.

Tony Pitcher had an outstanding PhD student who was nearing completion when Pitcher did something very, very nasty to him, which my informant would not detail. The PhD student had been mistreated and pissed about by Pitcher from the day that he arrived – he had done his first degree in Glasgow University, so he didn’t know that Pitcher should be avoided as a supervisor. Whatever Pitcher did was absolutely the last straw for this student and he walked out of the lab and went to a pub in Bangor where he got very, very drunk. The PhD student then returned to the Zoology Dept armed with a broken bottle and held a terrified Pitcher hostage. My friend was on the scene and said that the sight of Pitcher believing that he was going to die at the hands of a furious, drunk Glaswegian was very entertaining, but for the sake of Pitcher’s physical safety, my friend spent an hour helping defuse the confrontation.

Everyone expected the PhD student to be thrown out of the University. He wasn’t. I was told that what Pitcher had done to him was so serious that UCNW couldn’t defend it and therefore agreed to forget about any action against the PhD student in return for no-one mentioning what Pitcher had been up to. When all this happened, the Principal/VC of UCNW was the well-camouflaged paedophiles’ friend Professor Eric Sunderland and the Dean of Science was Dr Eifion Jones, Prof Richard Bentall’s then father-in-law (see post ‘Interesting Facts’), who was also a paedophiles’ friend.

The zoology PhD student went on to become one of the world’s best known cychlid fish experts and bagged his first Chair at a very young age. So imagine my surprise when I was working at Bangor more recently as a sociologist and I was told that there was much gnashing of teeth in Biological Sciences because Prof Fergus Lowe had head hunted a Professor of Zoology, paid him a great deal of money and created a job for the new Professor’s wife as well. Then someone told me the name of the head hunted Professor. It was that PhD student who had terrified the living daylights out of Tony Pitcher all those years ago.

The new Professor was then given the post of Director of Research for the whole University, which caused yet more bad feeling. No-one could understand why Fungus had gone to such lengths to curry favour with this particular academic. It might have been because he was one of the world’s leading fish behaviourists. Or, it might have been because Professor George F. Turner, when he was a PhD student, shared a house with some of my closest friends and knew what was happening to me at the hands of Dafydd and the paedophile gang – with whom Fungus was working in those days. George was still sharing that house when my friend Anne was killed. George’s house at 123 Caernarfon Road was second home to Anne and me, because of our friendship with George’s housemates and we used to stay over at 123 Caernarfon Road several nights a week. Anne was engaged to one of the students in George’s house.

Before George did his first degree in zoology, he began a degree in medicine at Glasgow University, but he withdrew because he couldn’t stand the Top Doctors. When Wood et al began ruining my chances of a place at medical school – that was before Dafydd offered me one at Liverpool in return for dropping my complaints about him, obviously – it was George who told me that I wouldn’t be missing anything, because medicine was a profession with the most appalling people at the helm…

Time to fess up George. When Fungus headhunted you, he knew that I was onto him and was desperately tying up all witnesses. OK, he did want good researchers as well, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw the opportunity and squeezed every penny that you could out of him.

Anne was not the only person that gang killed.

In the 1980s, the older lecturers of staff in the Zoology Dept were famed for their pomposity, incompetence and lack of effort and were collectively known as the Bow Tie Club, on the basis of their penchant for, naturally, bow ties and their regular appearance in the refectory at lunchtime, in a special cordoned off section provided with extras such as a white table cloths, decent cutlery etc. They had done their degrees at Oxbridge and Durham and had connections to influential people at institutions like the London Zoological Society. The governing body of the London Zoo was composed of society big wigs who were keeping the lid on Dafydd et al at a high level, including Sir Ronnie Waterhouse (see post ‘Heart of Darkness’). Members of the Bow Tie Club were mates with local Top Doctors. It was the zoology PhD students who told me that the Bow Tie Club were the King’s New Clothes, not actually up to very much as zoologists, but jealously guarding their territory, resources and jobs.

One member of staff of the Zoology Dept had his life wrecked by the Top Doctors himself, a snake venom specialist, Bill Hemmings. Bill’s family certainly knew a lot about venomous snakes, they have all had a lifetime on the receiving end of them. Bill developed bipolar disorder and ended up in the hands of Dafydd. He spent years literally rotting in the North Wales Hospital Denbigh. Bill’s wife was appalled at what was happening and desperately tried to extract Bill from Dafydd’s clutches. The response of Dafydd et al was to denounce her as being the cause of Bill’s problems and to ban her from visiting him. I first met Bill’s wife when she had experienced decades of this, but I didn’t know that. I remember her being very stressed and very hostile to Laingian theory. I later became friendly with her daughter and son-in-law and their family and they explained that at one point Dafydd had begun styling himself as the R.D. Laing of north Wales and that particular horrid spectacle had never left Bill’s wife.

The poison wasn’t just thrown at Bill’s wife, the whole family were subjected to a nasty whispering campaign by the paedophiles’ friends, particularly when Bill’s wife established a mental health research charity. Before she died Bill’s wife was awarded an MBE. She was too frail to go to the palace for the occasion, so she was presented with the medal by Lilibet’s representative in Gwynedd, the Lord Lieutenant, who was at the time paedophiles’ friends Huw Daniel. I was of the opinion that Gwyneth should have delivered a hard kick to Daniel’s carregs when she picked up that MBE, but her son-in-law told me that she restrained herself and accepted the MBE as recognition of the suffering that the whole family had experienced.

When he was older, Bill enjoyed a much better quality of life. After years of being written off by Dafydd et al, Bill went on a visit to Shrewsbury, where he experienced a manic episode in the town. He ended up in the hands of a Top Doctor who incredibly enough knew what she was doing and after a short while in her care, Bill’s condition stabilised. That was all that it took to turn Bill’s life around – someone who wasn’t just a total idiot running a sex trafficking gang.

Oh, when I first met Bill’s wife, D.G.E. Wood told me to have nothing to do with her on the grounds that her husband was ‘completely mad’ and had not recovered from a serious illness because his wife ignored the ‘expertise’ of Dafydd et al. You worthless twat Wood, I have now known Bill’s family for 20 yrs and I know exactly how gross the Top Doctors’ abuse of Bill and his family was.

Dafydd et al were clueless anyway, but in the light of Bill working in an institution which was facilitating the sex trafficking gang, I do wonder whether the severe neglect of Bill and the poison thrown at his family might have been for the routine reason ie. Bill discovering the extent of the wrongdoing.

Just before I left north Wales, I was on a bus when someone sat next to me who remembered me from years before as a UNCW student. He had worked as a junior technician in the Zoology Dept for a short while and we started chatting about old times. He told me that the nicest lecturer in Zoology had been Dr Hemmings…

There are still a few members of the Bow Tie Club alive, as are some of their wives. Perhaps they’d like to let us all know why they abandoned their colleague to Dafydd’s dungeon and showed no support at all for Bill.

BBC News Wales is telling us that Bangor University is opening its doors to train medical students. Hywel Williams, MP for Caernarfon and a former social work colleague of Dafydd’s, is delighted and has explained that GPs tend to practice in the area in which they studied, so this will be a solution to the lack of GPs in north Wales. Hywel knows as well as I do that GPs won’t work in north Wales because the region is still run by those who facilitated a paedophile gang some 20 yrs ago. D.G.E. Wood had been responsible for GP training in north Wales for decades. However Hywel also knows that there will be applications for places to study medicine at Bangor – the applications will be from the children of the paedophile gang who’s A level grades won’t be sufficient to get them into any other medical school. The paedophiles’ friends are Hywel’s bread and butter, so it is little wonder that he has greeted the news with pleasure. In 20 yrs time the health outcomes of people in north Wales will still be among the worst in Europe and no doubt one of Hywel’s children will be an MP and they’ll tell everyone that there is a problem with the NHS and it is a result of ‘cuts’.

Down at Westminster, the resignation of David Davies the Brexit Secretary looks as though it might bring down the Gov’t. I could well miss all the action because I’m going away for a few days to a place with no access to wifi or indeed even TV and radio. The ‘Today’ programme were excitedly discussing whether Theresa can survive. I don’t know why she even wants to, she presides over a Gov’t of backstabbing vacuous idiots who are knifing her after telling her that she was the best thing since sliced bread. ‘Leave it Theresa, they ain’t worf it’. Go to your favourite hotel, that one near Dolgellau and spend some time among normal people and hills and let them stew at Westminster. They’ll all ‘be ready to serve’ from the minute that you resign.

I keep being told that I should receive an apology for what happened to me. I would take it as an insult if I did. None of this was an accident. No-one accidentally missed a vicious sex trafficking gang as they targeted me and my friends for thirty years. Their crimes were recorded by and known to the security services and received the full backing of Gov’t. The harsh reality is that for decades the careers and pensions of a bunch of vile troughing old Top Docs and their allies were systematically considered to be more important than the lives of hundreds of young people. Get over it world. The British state did this, it did it deliberately and over a course of many, many years as an awful lot of people stood by and assisted or watched. It wasn’t long ago and far away, I was being threatened and harassed until the day that I left north Wales. No amount of Me Tooing or inquiries into organised abuse will bring back the dead. Live with what you have all done. If anyone really had one ounce of regret those bodies at Denbigh would be recovered. There is no sign of that happening.

The White Heat Of This Revolution

A recent story on BBC News Online mentioned that business with the eggs which cost Edwina Currie her career in 1988. Edwina was a Minister in the Dept of Health at the time – she was one of the merry band in Health in the late 1980s whom I blogged about in my post ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’. Edwina wasn’t a member of the Ministerial group whose bright ideas led to the ‘internal market’ in the NHS and the NHS and Community Care Act 1990, which provided Dr Dafydd Alun Jones with such a business opportunity (see posts ‘Feet In Chains’ and ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’). Trumpers was a Minister in Health at the same time (see post ’95 Glorious Years!), but Trumpers wasn’t part of the Ministerial group either. Trumpers was the bright spark who appointed Jimmy Savile to the management committee of Broadmoor, but Trumpers let Edwina take the blame when Savile was exposed after his death. Edwina knew what was happening but it was not actually Edwina who made the disastrous decision. The DoH was seriously dysfunctional at the time and at least two mandarins with the remit for mental health – Brian McGinnis and Cliff Graham – were undoubtedly knowingly facilitating the organised sexual abuse of children and vulnerable people (see posts ‘The Socio-Political Context Of The North Wales Mental Health Services In The 1980s’ and ‘The Old Devils’).

Until I did the research for my post ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’, I didn’t realise that Nigel Lawson, in his role as Chancellor of the Exchequer,  led the Ministerial group reviewing the NHS. Lawson was MP for Blaby in Leicestershire, 1974-92. A paedophile ring operated in Leicestershire with connections to Dafydd et al which was concealed by all the usual suspects, including the NHS in Leicester (see post ‘An Expert From England’). It was this gang that Greville Janner was alleged to have been a member of. After Frank Beck, the social worker who was a leading light in the gang, was imprisoned in Nov 1991, it became clear that as in north Wales, everyone had worked very hard indeed not to notice that gang. Lawson must have heard something about what was happening, although by the time the extent of the collusion was clear, he was in the Lords, having stood down from the Commons days before the five witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal were killed by a firebomb (see post ‘The Silence Of The Welsh Lambs’).

The dysfunction and injustice prevailing in the DoH and indeed in Thatcher’s Gov’t was exemplified by Edwina Currie being forced out. Edwina’s head was demanded on a plate after she stated in Dec 1988 on ITN News that ‘Most of the egg production in this country, sadly, is now infected with salmonella.’. Within days, at least one writ was served on Edwina by a ‘farmer’ (en masse egg producer) and the British Egg Industry threatened to sue as well. Edwina was gone very shortly afterwards, in the wake of allegations that she was an idiot.

Not on that matter she wasn’t. She was spot on – most of the egg production in the country was infected – not every egg, but the majority of poultry farms at that time did have salmonella. So Edwina could have defended herself in court against the accusations of libel, but she left Gov’t instead because she had pissed off some powerful Tory supporting very wealthy factory farmers.

I was fascinated by all this at the time, because by Dec 1988 I had realised that there was very serious crime in the mental health services in north Wales which was being concealed at the highest levels of Gov’t and I had also witnessed the research fraud and malpractice at Hammersmith Hospital/Royal Postgraduate Medical School (see post ‘A Cause Close To Our Hearts’) and the farce which was Prof Robert Baldwin’s Cancer Research Campaign Laboratories at Nottingham University (see post ‘Oh Lordy, It’s CR UK’). I had become very aware that even the alleged centres of excellence in British medicine were unsafe, troubled places which were rotten to the core.

I had also discovered that Brookwood Hospital in Surrey had a terrible safety record. During the year that I lived in Surrey, a Brookwood patient killed himself by firing a nail gun into his head and the press reported that this was ‘not an isolated incident’. I encountered Dr Michael Browne of Brookwood (see post ‘The BMA At The Root Of Another Mystery?’) and concluded that he was as much of a danger to patients as Dafydd was. After I left Surrey, Browne was the centre of a high profile case which involved a prisoner in Wormwood Scrubs who had killed himself. Browne was the prison psychiatrist who had been asked to see the young man by the warders because even they were worried about him. The young man had spent days in his cell in a foetal position crying. He hadn’t eaten and had stopped speaking. Browne had recorded that the young man ‘showed no signs of depression’. Hours after Browne had left the cell stating that the prisoner needed no medical care, the young man killed himself. Browne stated at the inquest that he couldn’t explain why he had recorded on the medical notes that the young man showed no signs of depression.

Michael Browne was not disciplined and the last time that I looked he was still practising. Prof Vincent Marks, my boss at the University of Surrey, had described Browne to me as being ‘very good’ and recommended him. Vincent’s brother was Dr John Marks, the then Chairman/President of the BMA.

Vincent was not a stupid man. He knew that Michael Browne was lethal.

In the face of all this, I marvelled that Edwina had been kicked out for stating a fact about the nation’s egg industry. The situation in the DoH in 1988 was far worse that I knew at the time.

I’d be interested to know who it was who served the writ on Edwina and which lawyers they used, there was obviously someone involved who terrified Thatcher’s Gov’t.

Everyone who worked in the NHS noticed that the most obvious change during the 80s/90s was the growth – in number, status and income – of the NHS manager. Top Doctors really resented this and routinely made comments about people whom they perceived as complete idiots who at best had poor degrees in arts subjects, when the highest achieving Top Docs had survived medical school and had then completed postgrad training and often a research degree as well. The rise and rise of the NHS manager was of course Thatcher’s response to the excesses of the Top Docs – there needed to be a response, but that was not the right one.

In north Wales, I looked on as Alun Davies, who was once an ‘assistant administrator’, became a ‘business manager’, then acquired grander and grander titles – that could only have existed in the public services – until he became things like ‘Directorate Executive Manager’. Davies acquired no more competence throughout the years but an awful lot more power. This wasn’t simply a result of Davies gaining promotion as a result of his corrupt deals with the paedophile gang – there was a ‘culture change’ which did involve non-clinical managers gaining a lot more clout.

I have a copy of a letter that Dr Tony Francis (Dr X) sent to a senior manager in the mid-80s regarding Davies that was insulting to Davies in the extreme. Francis had become miffed when he found that Davies had told someone that he would ‘chase’ Francis regarding a certain enquiry and Francis fired off a furious letter, reminding everyone that Davies the admin assistant was not going to chase any consultant. Davies wrote a grovelling apology. By the time that Francis took early retirement in the late 1990s Davies and other managers were as rude and insulting to the clinicians whom they did not like as the clinicians were to them. There was all out war between the two groups anyway and the cohort that had a terrible time were junior doctors, who were kicked half to death by consultants as well as by Davies and his mates.

Managerialism won the day. Whereas Top Docs once fell off their chairs laughing at the idea of MBAs, just before I left Bangor University in 2012, the Management Centre was plastered in adverts advising Top Docs that their careers would not go far without an MBA – sadly that is probably true these days – and advising them to sign up for a tailor made Top Docs MBA. Meanwhile patients committed suicide and the clinical outcomes for people in north Wales were for many conditions among the worst in Europe.

Of course I understand that good management is about facilitating people’s work and can be justified. The NHS does not have good management. NHS management is so bad that huge swathes of the private sector simply will not employ former NHS managers. I also know of cases in which managers from other sectors have dipped their toe into the NHS and walked away quickly saying ‘I was not staying there’.

I noticed that when one of those TV series about ‘turning around the NHS’ was screened a few years ago, the hatred between the managers and Top Docs was such that it couldn’t even be hidden for the sake of the cameras. Managers were walking around wearing T shirts which they had made bearing slogans saying ‘how old are they today?’, a reference to their standing joke that the Top Docs carried on like a bunch of three year olds. Meanwhile a Top Doc was interviewed on camera saying ‘I have five degrees. These people have a 2:2 in geography. I am not going to be told what to do by them.’

The two professional groups really do not like each other and the situation is inflamed by the fact that so many of them do live up to their stereotypes – rather dim managerial idiots who have no knowledge of medicine or the human condition, or arrogant pompous Top Docs who indeed think that they are God. Most other people have walked away in despair.

Not only did I witness what administrators did on the ground when they metamorphosed into managers but I had a bit of knowledge of a truly extraordinary phenomenon – the development of a University Dept which ran the courses for NHS and social care managers. At Aston University to be precise. The Aston Business School seems to have been a mecca for a very long time if one is an NHS/social services manager. I invite readers to start looking at the CVs of people who run the health and welfare services, even those who have become embroiled in scandal – a great many have gained a business or management qualification from Aston.

Dear old Martin Jones who screwed up so monumentally in every position which he held in the NHS in north Wales left Bangor University in I think 1983, with it is rumoured a Third – marine chemistry I think. There is a Duncan Orme-like gap (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’) in Martin’s CV, which I was told was a result of Martin, like Duncan, failing his accountancy exams. Martin rolled up in Gwynedd Health Authority after that in a junior admin role (people who remember Martin from that time enjoy referring to him as ‘the office boy’). Martin later disappeared from the inner circle of the paedophiles’ friends of north Wales to the West Midlands for a few years where he worked as an NHS manager – and completed a business/management qualification at Aston. Martin then returned to north Wales at a senior level and caused havoc.

Under the glorious dictatorship of Keith Thomson, Martin was the Finance Director of the NW Wales NHS Trust. When Keith resigned as CEO of the Trust in 2005 – a few hours after the High Court in Cardiff ordered him to hand over my medical records or face a contempt hearing and a possible prison sentence – Martin became Acting CEO of the Trust. Martin was Keith’s loyal henchman and had contributed as much to the disaster that was the NW Wales NHS Trust as did Keith. I heard conversations in north Wales along the lines of ‘surely the Welsh Gov’t are not going to let mad Martin became CEO of that Trust?’ Martin did become CEO – allegedly because he remained as Acting CEO for a certain period of time which then meant he automatically became CEO under Welsh NHS rules.

I was told at the time that the Welsh Gov’t took their eye off the ball, that Martin landed the job as CEO by default and that the Welsh Gov’t were seething. Health Minister Edwina Hart was known to loathe Martin and allegedly stated that she would not let him privatise Wales’s NHS. Martin was doing that as well as rather more serious things – Martin was facilitating serious criminal misconduct.

However, it wasn’t Edwina who was Health Minister when Martin nipped in through the back door. It was Dr Brian Gibbons, the good friend of the paedophiles. The Gibbons who was receiving letters from me before Thomson resigned, telling him that I had documentary evidence of serious crime on the part of the NHS and social services in north Wales. Gibbons sent me a letter saying ‘this correspondence is closed’. My very serious complaints were never investigated and I heard no more from Gibbons.

Of course Gibbons knew that Martin was sitting in Thomson’s old chair in the NW Wales NHS Trust. The Trust was being sued constantly, there were scandals and deaths on a regular basis, the bill for agency staff was sending the Trust into near bankruptcy because Martin was running the whole Trust  by using agency and locum staff and patients were writing to the Secretary of State for Wales such was the mismanagement.

Furthermore, although after the High Court case in Cardiff Keith Thomson had appeared in the ‘Daily Post’ stating that he was retiring and would be spending more time with his family, playing golf and ‘doing a bit of management consultancy’, Thomson didn’t retire. He was appointed as the CEO for the Trust which at that time covered Pembrokeshire and west Wales. Gibbons will have made that appointment.

Gibbons knew damn well that two crazed, dangerous paedophiles’ friends who were facilitating serious crime were in the most senior positions in two NHS Trusts in Wales.

There was a longstanding paedophile ring in west Wales which was linked to the ring in north Wales.

My post ‘The Human Stain’ details Gibbons’s links to Ireland and Yorkshire as well as to south and west Wales.

Keith Thomson returned to north Wales after his ‘retirement’ from the NHS in west Wales – he lived in a flat owned by Alun Davies in Colwyn Bay.

When Edwina took over from Gibbons as Health Minister in 2007, she dissolved the NW Wales NHS Trust and how glad everyone was. Sadly at the same time, Edwina thrashed out a ‘no redundancies’ deal and every one of those mad, incompetent criminals who had facilitated a paedophile gang and brought north Wales to its knees was re-employed on their previous salaries in the newly created Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Martin had a whole new job created for him. Guess what? The Betsi Board was in chaos from it’s inception and it is now a laughing stock which no-one will work for.

There was one senior person from the NW Wales NHS Trust who was not given a role in the new Health Board, Elfed Roberts, the Chairman. So instead Edwina appointed Elfed to a role in the Governance of the Welsh Ambulance Service. Elfed had previously been a senior officer in the North Wales Police who was removed amidst allegations of corruption.

Readers in Wales will have noticed the state of the Welsh Ambulance Service.

This lot were a bunch of crooks who were all in it together. Gibbons was completely on board and was facilitating it and Edwina was colluding, although she loathed Martin et al. Edwina had a previous career in the trade unions, she’ll have spent years concealing the crap that emanated from the organised abuse of vulnerable people in Wales and the associated criminality and she was not able to control the paedophiles’ friends, although she was frequently under attack from them herself. Then there was the big idiot Rhodri, who had spent his whole career keeping schtum about George Thomas, Ron Davies, Dafydd and the paedophiles in north Wales and the gang in west Wales as well.

I gave some indication in my post ‘The Human Stain’ the depths to which Gibbons and Edwina sunk and the disgrace that they have brought upon Wales. Surely the Lords is the only destination for them now. As well as the anecdotes about Edwina giving out business support grants during her tenure as Minister for the Economy to people whom she had slept with, I have heard people in public life in England making jokes about jobs in the Welsh Assembly being given out on the basis of people shagging Ministers. I know who the person being discussed was – it was Meri Huws, the subject of crude jokes about her being ‘passed around’ after Rhodri had had a go.

Are this lot so stupid that they believe that no-one is aware of these practices?

Gibbons and Edwina received information from me, in confidence, after I trusted them to behave as Ministers should, who could and should have put people in prison. They became accessories by colluding with the criminals.

The Health Minister who succeeded Edwina, Lesley Griffiths, had concealed the organised sexual abuse of children in Wales (see post ‘History Repeats Itself, First As Tragedy, Second As Farce’). The Health Minister who succeeded Lesley Griffiths was Mark Drakeford. Who worked as a social worker in west Wales, whilst a paedophile gang operated there through the social services.

Theresa May is pointing at the Welsh NHS and using it as an example of all that is wrong with the world. Hats off to all of you committed socialists, what a great job you’ve done.

I don’t know how they all thought that this was going to end, they knew that I had the evidence and was gathering more…

To return to the institution which equipped Martin, the ultimate paedophiles’ friend Rhian Huws Williams (see post ‘No One Is Innocent’) and so many others for a life of grime in the NHS and Social Services – Aston University. Brown did his first degree at Aston, and returned there as a lecturer after he completed his PhD at Leicester University. During the mid-1980s, Brown’s dept – the Psychology Dept – was very obviously being deliberately destroyed by the VC, Sir Freddie Crawford, a mate of Thatcher’s. A man called Norman Graham, a former headmaster who still behaved like one and was indeed referred to by the staff as ‘the headmaster’, was installed as Head of Dept who kept telling the psychologists that ‘you must think of yourselves as part of the Business School’, as the Business School expanded and expanded and gradually swallowed the Psychology Dept. Individuals were seriously harassed and one lecturer, Ron Easterby, committed suicide in the mid-1990s. There were many people who took the view that the University had killed Ron Easterby.

It was after 1984 that Freddie Crawford systematically and deliberately destroyed the Psychology Dept at Aston University. Crawford’s assault began after Brown wrote a stiff letter to Dr D.G.E. Wood about events at the Student Health Centre at UCNW (Bangor University) involving Gwynne the lobotomist and me, reminding Wood that patients’ welfare should be his priority, not loyalty to colleagues who are unworthy of that loyalty. Brown also told Wood that altering medical records and lying to patients was not an acceptable way of conducting oneself.

I noticed many years ago that Crawford’s assault on Brown’s colleagues and indeed Brown himself came very soon after that letter, but I didn’t have the info about the links between the paedophile gang in north Wales and similar gangsters in the West Midlands. Neither did I know that Crawford was a leader among white-collar crooks, although I was aware that he was famously ‘Mrs Thatcher’s favourite Vice-Chancellor’.

Dafydd and the paedophiles might have thought that Ron Easterby knew what had happened to me at their hands. For one term when I was a student at Bangor I lodged in Port Dinorwic with a man who had grown up in care and who I am now certain was under attack by the paedophiles. His dog was shot, his house caught fire – twice – and he was completely unable to get anybody to employ him, although he didn’t have a criminal record. His friend’s kept telling me that he was having a lot of ‘bad luck’ and that people didn’t like him because he’d been in care. I now have info that suggests that the paedophiles’ friends had noticed me living at this man’s house, particularly because I was English and used to go in for punkish style clothes and hair at the time.

Whilst I was lodging in Port Dinorwic, one weekend I went down to stay with Brown in Birmingham and we went to a club known as the Arts Lab. We went there because it was showing a film that we wanted to see, but the Arts Lab was a popular venue with transvestites and gender bending people. Ron Easterby’s daughter was there – like us, she’d gone to see the film. As we came out of the club, Ron was there waiting to pick up his daughter and saw us and obviously Brown stopped to chat to him. I had no idea that there was a network of sex trafficking gangsters operating between north Wales and Birmingham who watched everyone all the time. I think it highly likely that someone saw us there and saw Ron and his daughter talking to us and thought that we might have known Ron better than we did.

The harassment of other Aston staff who were not Of The Business School continued and Brown was forced out of his job in July 1995.

It was in July 1995 when Sir Peter Morrison and corrupt civil servant Bing Spear, both of whom were associates of Dafydd and the gang, were found dead and the month that before truly bizarre shenanigans had taken place at the highest echelons of the Welsh Office (see post ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’).

Another notable Welshman is a graduate of Aston Business School – Prof Dylan Jones-Evans, the Tory Party adviser who has now been sacked from nearly every university in Wales (see post ‘News Round-Up, March 20 2017′). Dylan knows what the paedophiles’ friends have been up to – he hated the likes of Meri Huws but knew that the Tories were crawling with paedophiles’ friends as well. Dylan stood for election as the Tory candidate in Aberconwy in 2007 but was unsuccessful – Dylan is not the sort of person to stand as the anti-corruption candidate, he just played the same insane games as everyone else.

Sir Frederick Crawford played a big part in civil life in Birmingham. When he was appointed Chair of the Criminal Cases Review Commission there were objections raised because of his enthusiasm for Freemasonry. Sir Freddie had an off the rails son who was found dead from a heroin overdose in an hotel in Israel. Before he died this young man used to tell people that he could do pretty much anything re drugs n crime and not face prosecution because of who his dad was.

Whilst Sir Freddie was VC, Aston had a lethal student doctor, Philip Cauthery. Cauthery was so negligent with regard to distressed students that Aston had one of the highest suicide rates of any UK university. The students jumped out of the windows of the tower blocks where they were housed – one who lived a few floors above Brown went flying past his window one night and when I went to visit him shortly after the blood stains were still on the place where she had landed – and took overdoses of the anti-depressants which Cauthery dished out in huge quantities. Aston had a very high proportion of overseas students and some of them had relatives living in regimes where family members were tortured, disappeared, assassinated etc. The man allocated for students to talk to in such circumstances was Cauthery…

Cauthery was best known for his sex therapy work. He was on the Editorial Board of Forum magazine – for which Alastair Campbell used to write porn stories. Forum did not feature child porn but it didn’t keep a very close eye on who advertised in the small ads. In 1987 the investigative programme The Cook Report revealed that the small ads were being used by paedophiles to exchange child porn on the European market (see post ‘Apocalypse Now’).

Cauthery set up a sex therapy clinic and an abortion service with Dr Martin Cole. Martin Cole was a geneticist whereas Cauthery was a Top Doctor. Cole produced a sex education film called ‘Growing Up’ which caused a furore among Mary Whitehouse and her mates – Mary also went for Cole’s jugular because she claimed that his sex therapy clinic was a front for prostitution. I know someone who went to that clinic – they did indeed have a relationship with one of the ‘surrogates’ that Cole was famous for using and she had worked in the sex industry. However Cole was not half so damaging to this man as Dafydd and the paedophiles of north Wales had been, which was why he had given up with the NHS and gone to Cole.

Cauthery was never attacked in the press or by Mary Whitehouse in the way that Martin Cole was. I am sure that this was because Cauthery was a Top Doc who will, like Dafydd, have enjoyed the full protection of the medical establishment.

For more info on Cauthery and Coleman, see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III’.

Mary Whitehouse was a former teacher from the West Midlands who loved referring to what doctors and psychiatrists had said about adolescents’ mental health and the alleged dangers of sex education/porn etc. That’ll have been the Top Docs like Prof Robert Bluglass who were colluding with Dafydd and the paedophiles.

I have mentioned previously that Dr Colin Berry, a Top Doc from Coventry, was one of those who assisted Bluglass in concealing the crimes of Dafydd and the paedophiles in 1988-89 (see post ‘Enter Professor Robert Bluglass CBE’). I have missed an obvious link between Berry and others who worked on behalf of Dafydd et al. Berry was from Coventry. Geoffrey Robinson, the very rich Labour MP who’s loan to Peter Mandelson caused Mandy’s first resignation, owned the ‘New Statesman’ when it published Richard Webster’s 2000 article trashing the Gwynedd whistleblower Alison Taylor following the Waterhouse Inquiry (see post ‘Cottaging At Castle Gate’). Robinson has been the Labour MP for Coventry North West since 1976.

Martin Jones, the former CEO of the NW Wales NHS Trust who presided over chaos, unlawfully prevented me from accessing NHS treatment and tried to frame me on more than one occasion, had worked in the NHS in Coventry after he left north Wales but before he returned in a senior position.

Numerous children in care from the West Midlands were sent to children’s homes in north Wales. After Tony Francis (Dr X) relocated to north Wales to join Dafydd and the paedophiles, Francis’s former boss Ian Brockington was appointed to a Chair in Birmingham University, to join old Bluglass (see post ‘Ian Brockington’s Mischief’).

Then there were the links between the notoriously corrupt Freemason-heavy West Midlands Serious Crime Squad who stitched up Ali Khan from Caernarfon in the 1980s and the North Wales Police.

My post ‘Amber Rudd, The Miners’ Strike And A Memory Jogged’ provided details of a family who moved from Birmingham to Anglesey in the early 1980s after rescuing a little girl from ‘cruelty’ in Birmingham. This family showed all the signs of being under attack from Dafydd et al. Dafydd personally began a campaign to try and put their shop out of business, the kids were isolated and marginalised by teachers at Ysgol David Hughes and the father of the family – who had multiple serious health problems – was so badly neglected by the Top Docs that he died in his 50s.

Dafydd and the paedophiles were fully networked into serious organised crime in the West Midlands.

Now for more information about the movers and shakers at St George’s Hospital Medical School.

St George’s website makes reference to that shameful episode when it was publicly admitted that the computer programme used to select applicants to the medicine degree was written to systematically disadvantage ethnic minority and female candidates. It got worse. The computer programme had been in use for years and senior academics in St George’s knew that it had been designed to discriminate. St George’s website reminds us all that the programme was the 1979 work of Dr Geoffrey Franglen, so he was the scapegoat for that particular embarrassment. Not only did Franglen not design that programme without anyone else’s knowledge – someone told him to do it – but the website makes reference to the discovery of the discriminatory computer programme in Dec 1986. Now I seem to remember that the scandal didn’t become public until years after Dec 1986 – the shit didn’t hit the fan until the 1990s.

The person who took the credit for blowing the whistle on the Computer Which Said No was the pharmacologist and Top Doctor Joe Collier. Joe Collier had spent his whole career at St George’s and he was fully au fait with the appalling attitudes and practices there. Collier was friends with the society fuckwit Dr Cathy Wilson, who was a mate of Geoffrey Chamberlain’s and the root of many problems in the Obs and Gynae Dept. Collier liked to align himself with radical causes – I could imagine him being mates with Michael Mansfield, he seemed to move in such circles – and he was probably delighted to expose Racism and Sexism. Which is a real laugh, because Joe was described to me by one of his colleagues as ‘an arsehole’. Not that the judgement of that particular person could always be relied upon, but I remember Cathy Wilson getting very angry with Joe Collier after interviewing med school candidates with him because he was aggressive and discriminatory towards the girls who hadn’t come from independent schools in London. Cathy talked about a girl from Yorkshire whom she claimed had been chewed up and spat out by Joe and was denied a place to do medicine despite being very much better qualified that others who were given places. The girl’s crime was to have not defended a feminist position – in Joe’s eyes at least – in her interview.

Nice one Joe! A middle aged white man who has kept quiet about his colleagues running a sex trafficking ring stops a girl from getting into medicine because she’s not a feminist. Joe Collier And His Radical Conscience.

Joe Collier worked in the Pharmacology Dept at St George’s. In 1989 one of the PhD students in Joe’s Dept was Mark Roy, who had previously been employed as a psychiatric nurse in the Reaside Clinic, which was Prof Robert Bluglass’s empire. Mark Roy admitted to me that some wards in the Reaside Clinic were appalling, but Bluglass ensured that no-one saw those wards. For info on Mark Roy’s career among yet more paedophiles’ friends after he left St George’s, see post ‘An Appalling Vista’.

The elephant in the room as far as the row regarding the Computer Saying No at St George’s was that St George’s accepted far, far many more ethnic minority candidates (and I think more women as well) than any other medical school in the UK. St George’s was known for being so positive towards ethnic minority candidates that they were encouraged to apply there by schools, careers teachers etc. So what were the other medical schools doing as part of their admissions process and why was this never mentioned?

Then there were the Top Docs who mentioned that you could tell that St George’s wasn’t what it should be by the number of ethnic minority students that they were ‘letting in’.

There was also that student at UCNW whom the sex trafficking GP Dr D.G.E. Wood knew who’s uncle was the Professor of Surgery at St George’s who in 1984 was guaranteed a place at St George’s as a mature student…

Between 1971-82 the Dean of St George’s was Robert Lowe, so he had something to do with the Computer Saying No. The Computer Said No throughout the tenure of the next Dean as well, Richard J. West, who was Dean until 1987. Richard J. West was Dean when the time bomb went off which was Prof Oliver Brooke and his enormous collection of child porn stashed on medical school premises. Brooke was jailed in 1986 but was out again in 1987 thanks to Lord Chief Justice Geoffrey Lane. There is no trace of Richard J. West on the internet or indeed Robert Lowe, so obviously the world needed to forget about them. I have no idea if West disappeared from St George’s in 1987 because of Ollie and his kiddie porn and contacts with paedophiles in Europe, but in 1988 Professor Sir William Asscher arrived. Not only did the Computer Continue To Say No after Asscher arrived, but the rest of the paedophile ring of which Brooke had been a member remained in business and Asscher’s colleagues at St George’s continued to conceal their crimes and colluded with them and their mates, including Dafydd and the paedophiles of north Wales .

My post ‘Enter Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London…’ details some of the evidence in my possession demonstrating that Top Docs at St George’s and Springfield (the associated mental health unit) knew that Dafydd was sexually exploiting patients and they believed that Tony Francis was as well. Nonetheless the very same people were in phone contact with Dafydd, Tony Francis and Lucille Hughes and dutifully recorded that I was ‘extremely dangerous’ and had ‘broken into’ Dafydd’s office ‘such that he thought that he was going to be killed there and then’ because Dafydd had told them this.

Dafydd, please do tell me – when did all this happen????

Dafydd’s mate from the Maudsley, Dr Paul Bowden – who had co-authored with Bluglass – was also called upon to refuse to treat me and declare me dangerous.

Meet Professor Nigel Eastman of St George’s:

Newsletter - Spring 2016

Who is a friend of St Helena Kennedy:

Official portrait of Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws crop 2.jpg

St Helena is married to a Top Doc herself!

St Helena is a colleague of Mike Mansfield of the Proletariat:

Mike went to Keele University – where so many paedophiles’ friends and indeed paedophiles themselves worked/studied (see post ‘The Human Stain’) – and was Secretary of Keele Students’ Union. Mansfield was called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn in 1967 and was elected as a bencher of Gray’s Inn in 2007.

Sir William Mars-Jones – a good friend of Dafydd, the paedophiles and Ronnie Waterhouse, was President of UCNW when the staff were running the sex trafficking ring with Dafydd – was a leading light in Gray’s Inn.

Michael Mansfield’s art teacher was Sir Kyffin Williams. Kyffin was an artist who came from Anglesey, spent some time when he was younger in England and then returned to Anglesey where he spent the rest of his life. Kyffin was considered part of high society in north Wales and was greatly toadied to by the paedophiles’ friends.

Dafydd Iwan used one of Kyffin’s paintings as the basis for an album cover:

Bangor University has an extensive collection of Kyffin’s paintings.

Other artists in north Wales don’t seem to like Kyffin very much. They all say the same thing – that the only reason he became so well-known is that he was rich enough to establish his own gallery and not need to live by his work. One north Wales artist who had a particular bee in his bonnet about Sir Kyffin maintains that the echelons of the art world which Kyffin moved in was all about ‘cocaine and champagne’ and that there was a great deal of pursuit of young boys on the part of older gay artists.

Sir Kyffin died in Sept 2006. He never married and had no heirs.

Cheers Professor Bluglass, let’s raise a glass to remember Kyffin!

Old Warwickians - 1940s-1960s School House Dinner

Letters from Dr Robin Jacobson to Nigel Eastman about the dangerous nutter that is me didn’t only just flag up that Dafydd was a colleague of Dr Bob Hobson at the Maudsley (see post ‘The Mentor’), but for some reason Jacobson told Eastman that Dafydd is ‘in his late fifties or early sixties’. This is a rather unusual piece of information to note about a colleague – I suspect that Bob Hobson’s lot of Dafydd’s generation at the Maudsley were known to be shagging the patients or doing other things that they shouldn’t have been and the mentioning of Dafydd’s age was the hidden signal to Eastman…

It was on Asscher’s watch that my former boss Malcolm Pearce was struck off for research fraud in June 1995. The BMJ dated 17 June 1995 stated that Pearce was found guilty ‘last week’. ‘That week’ was just two weeks before all that fancy footwork at the Welsh Office which saw David Hunt return as Welsh Secretary for just a few days before Hague was appointed (see post ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’). The fancy footwork spanned the days when a veil was drawn over the details of Dafydd’s retirement and the fact that the North Wales Hospital had not closed down, contrary to what the general public were told.

In the following month, July 1995, Bing Spear and Sir Peter Morrison were found dead within four days of each other – both people who if they squealed could have put a lot of other people in prison for years and caused embarrassment to a great many others – and Brown was forced out of his job at Aston University (see post ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’).

During the summer of 1995, Sir Ronnie Waterhouse was conducting his farewell tour of Wales, dining with all those who had facilitated the abuse of children in Wales into which Ronnie would soon be holding an inquiry, but of course Ronnie or indeed no-one else knew that.

Pearce was struck off, but his colleague Prof Geoffrey Chamberlain who had been involved in the same fraud and had co-authored the paper of lies was not even disciplined. He gave evidence against Malcolm and Malcolm took the rap for everything. The President of the GMC when Malcolm was struck off but Chamberlain was left free to practice was Robert Kilpatrick. Kilpatrick was Dean of Leicester Medical School, 1975-89, during which time another associate of Dafydd and the paedophiles, Dr James Earp, a forensic psychiatrist in Leicester who was involved with Leicester Medical School, concealed the crimes of Dafydd et al (see post ‘An Expert From England’). At that time social worker Frank Beck was sexually abusing kids in care in Leicestershire and there is considerable evidence that Beck’s mate Lord Greville Janner was as well.

Kilpatrick was given a peerage in 1996, the year in which Hague announced the Waterhouse Inquiry.

Chamberlain was concealing the Westminster Paedophile Ring. Pearce might have been as well, but Chamberlain went back further and had bigger and better mates than Malcolm. Chamberlain came from south Wales. His dad was Secretary to the Lord Mayor of Cardiff and when Chamberlain retired from the NHS in 2000 he was given a lecturing job at Swansea University, domain of Rhodri Morgan, who had concealed the child molesting of George Thomas, which Chamberlain would have known about.

The molesting ways of George Thomas were known about and concealed by the Top Docs of Cardiff, one of whom was Sir William Asscher. Asscher qualified in London but went to Cardiff in the mid-1960s. He became the Professor of Medicine at Cardiff in 1976. Asscher knew about Dafydd and the paedophiles in north Wales as well. Asscher was involved in medical charidee work, as was George Thomas.  In June 1990, whilst I was working at St George’s, Gwilym Jones, a Tory MP and Minister in the Welsh Office who was one concealing the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the paedophiles, held a promotion event at Parliament for the charidee which Asscher founded – Gwilym Jones was Vice-President of the charidee in question. The charidee event received the support of David Hunt the then Welsh Secretary and indeed ‘all Welsh members’ (see post ‘The Paedophiles’ Friends Of Cardiff North’).

Asscher was not appointed Dean at St George’s to clean up post-Brooke – he was appointed because he was a safe pair of hands who was going to keep the lid on Brooke’s mates who were all still at St George’s. Asscher stepped down as Dean/Principal in 1996 – the year that Hague announced the Waterhouse Inquiry.

Asscher may well have utilised one of the networks that Greville Janner and Leo Abse, George Thomas’s friend and protector – who stood accused of child abuse himself – used, the Jewish network in south Wales and across the UK. I do not for one minute believe that Jewish people are any more likely to be child molesters than anyone else, but Dafydd and the paedophiles used all available professional networks to protect themselves – even feminist activist networks. It wasn’t just the Freemasons who were used – St Helena Kennedy is not a Freemason, she is a feminist lawyer.

Sir Adolf William Asscher – his full name but he didn’t publicise that for obvious reasons – was born in the Netherlands to a Jewish family. His family were taken to the Westerbork transit camp – the camp to which Ann Frank and her family were taken – and were under threat of being transported to a concentration camp. Asscher’s mother fabricated claims that the family were of English descent and even pointed to Adolf’s blond hair as back-up. In 1943 they were released and they left the Netherlands in 1947.

Leo Abse was from a Jewish medical/legal family and was networked within the Jewish community. Leo Abse’s brother Danny Abse was a Top Doctor well plugged into Top Docs networks in south Wales and London. Greville Janner was born in Cardiff and lived in south Wales until he was 11 yrs old. His father Barnett Janner was a Lithuanian who’s family moved to south Wales when Barnett was nine months old. Barnett went to what later became Cardiff University and established a solicitor’s practice in Cardiff. He lived in south Wales until 1929. In 1947 Barnett Janner became the MP for Leicester North West, the seat to which Greville Janner succeeded in 1970. Both Barnett and Greville Janner were active in the Jewish community, holding many high profile positions.

When Greville Janner was named as a child molester by Geoffrey Dickens MP in the 1980s, Janner accused him of anti-semitism. It is an easy charge to make and of course it could be true. The first time that I saw Janner named as a child abuser was on a fascist website. The accusation was accompanied by so much ludicrous facist propaganda and crazed theories about Jewish conspiracies and just about every prominent Jewish person in the country was named as a child molester on this site so I simply ignored it. It was only later that I realised that there had been a mountain of evidence against Janner and that Dickens was in no way anti-semitic…

After Asscher went off into the sunset in 1996, it looks as though St George’s continued with its tradition of appointing safe pairs of hands who steered the ship through the potentially choppy waters which were the years of the Waterhouse Inquiry.

Sir Robert David Hugh Boyd was Dean/Principal of St George’s, 1996-03. He was another paediatrician ! You’d have thought they’d have learnt wouldn’t you. Furthermore, from 1989-93 Boyd was Dean of the Medical School and Professor of Paediatrics at Manchester University. Which not long previously had hosted Tony Francis, Sadie Francis and Dafydd’s mate Bob Hobson.

Not only that, but the unhinged Dr Tony Roberts – the Top Doctor at Hergest who diagnosed borderline personality disorders in everyone and maintained that it was their choice as to whether they killed themselves or not and who presided over the highest suicide rate among his patients of anywhere in England or Wales except for Camden – graduated from Manchester in the mid-1980s and made his way to the North Wales Hospital Denbigh for work.

It was with regard to my complaint about Tony Roberts in 2002 that a forged letter purporting to have been written by me was found in the possession of the GMC (see post ‘The General Medical Council And Yet Another Forged Document’). Roberts was involved in the attempt to frame me for ‘threatening to kill Alun Davies’ in 2002, on the basis of the perjury of numerous Angels from the Hergest Unit and of course Davies himself. The case collapsed, but I discovered years later that days after the case collapsed, the PNC had been unlawfully amended – twice – to show crimes against my record of which I had not been convicted and furthermore a forged certificate of indictment was found in the possession of Chester Court, stating that I had pleaded guilty to ‘violent disorder’ at Caernarfon Crown Court. I haven’t ever been charged with ‘violent disorder’.

Robert Kehoe, the ‘expert witness’ who lied about both Brown and me in his farcical report some two years after the ‘threats to kill’ case collapsed (see post ‘An Expert In Resistant Service Users’), was the business partner of a man who had professional links to Manchester University and to Tony Roberts. It was this man who had recommended Robert Kehoe to my lawyers.

Robert Boyd was Chair of the Manchester Heath Authority, 1993-96. The mental health services in Manchester were in a very ropey state by then and eventually imploded (see post ‘The Mentor’). So obviously Robert Boyd was the choice to lead St George’s when Adolf waved them a fond farewell. Boyd was Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of London from 2000-03.

Boyd was subsequently appointed Head of Research for Greater Manchester NHS.

My post ‘Criminals Are Getting Away With It’ described how I was allocated a ‘community worker’ by Gwynedd Health Authority in 1997, after there was an attempt to frame me on the back of the perjury of Angel Bridget Lloyd and my key worker had been ordered not to communicate with me after he raised concerns about my treatment at the hands of the mental health services. The community worker was an Angel, Dave Reader, who was introduced to me as being an Angel who had just arrived in north Wales to do his PhD. I discovered a few days ago that Dave Reader was no such thing, he was an Angel with many years experience and had joined the paedophiles’ friends of north Wales in 1992. Before that he had been a paedophiles’ friend working at St George’s – under Sir Adolph Asscher’s regime.

Reader studied for a BSc with Manchester University, 1994-97 – although he had by then been qualified for ten years and already had a degree. Reader also took a Diploma in Psychosocial Interventions in Psychosis at Manchester in the 1990s. Reader’s friend and colleague Dr Mike Jackson from north Wales not only developed and popularised psychosocial interventions in psychosis but admitted to me that they don’t work.

Dave Reader has called in on many institutions run by the paedophiles’ friends during his career.

Robert Boyd is the son of James Dixon Boyd, who was the Professor of Anatomy at Cambridge University, 1951-68. So he probably knew Trumpers (see post ’95 Glorious Years!’).

So somebody in London University wanted Asscher in the most senior post at St George’s in 1988. The VC of London University at the time was Lord Brian Flowers, a paedophiles’ friend who came from and went to school in Swansea (see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’). Flowers spent many years at Imperial College and was Rector, 1973-85, working among the wrongdoing. Flowers was VC of London University, 1985-90. Flowers was a member of the Council of the Royal Postgraduate Medical School and Vice-Chairman, 1990-97. So Flowers presided over the research fraud and misconduct that I witnessed at Hammersmith Hospital/RPMS and at St George’s. Flowers was VC whilst St George’s concealed the paedophile ring on their doorstep in south London, as well as the criminality of Dafydd et al in north Wales.

Flowers will have hand-picked Adolf for the job at St George’s.

When Geoffrey Chamberlain retired from St George’s in 2000, after being involved in research fraud and concealing the paedophile gangs, he took up a lecturing job at Swansea University.

Here’s the VC of London University who presided over research fraud, the awarding of degrees and jobs in return for sexual favours and of course ran an institution which facilitated and concealed a paedophile gang and serious organised crime, with an admirer:

  • Reporter-Sharing stories of Imperial's community. Imperial ...

Between 1994 and 2001, Flowers was Chancellor of the University of Manchester.

Flowers was a physicist who was a member of the Atomic Energy Authority, 1971-81. He was just the sort of person that you want involved with such matters wasn’t he. For details of Flowers’s numerous other roles, some on ethics committees, see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’.

Events at St George’s before Adolf arrived were every bit as interesting as the events were once he kissed the tarmac there.

Richard J. West, the Dean who preceded Asscher, obviously presided over interesting times as did the Dean before him, Robert Lowe, who was in post 1971-82. I cannot find anything online about these two which is very odd because Top Doctors love splashing their details everywhere and their friends do it for them after they die.

Something very momentous indeed went on at St George’s in the late 60s/early 70s. In 1980, St George’s relocated to a brand new building in Tooting. Before that it had been located at Hyde Park Corner since its inception in 1733. St George’s was originally built as a result of a trust donated by the Duke of Westminster. So there was a strong relationship – of a shamelessly toadying kind – between St George’s and High Society. Even in the late 1980s, staff at St George’s would wistfully remember their days in the ‘old hospital’ at Hyde Park Corner and how wonderful it was. Some of that lot really did not want to move to the mean streets of Tooting, even if it meant brand new labs. Bits of the Hyde Park Corner building had been taken across London and re-installed at Tooting so that people could remember the glorious past.

Ken Clarke explains in his autobiography ‘A Kind Of Blue’ that Thatcher’s Gov’t fell out with the Duke of Westminster, Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, in a big way after St George’s relocated to Tooting in 1980 and the Hyde Park Corner site was vacated. According to Ken, Ken Clarke wanted to flog the old St George’s Hyde Park Corner and keep the dosh to reinvest in the NHS  – the Hyde Park Corner site in Knightsbridge was worth a bomb. Grosvenor was demanding the land back on the grounds that his ancestors had donated it so he was now reclaiming it. Ken tells us in his book that Thatch was indeed going to hand the land back to Grosvenor, but Ken was horrified at this free gift to one of the richest men in the country. Ken touchingly speculates in his book that perhaps Thatcher had a respect for the aristocracy and had trouble saying no to them. Er, no. Thatch was shamelessly nouveau riche, she insulted gentlemen, she did not hold with giving them billions of pounds on a plate. Thatch may just have had more difficulty than usual with the Duke, what with him being a friend of Prince Charles.

An added complications were that the Duke was President of the City of Chester Conservative Association. The MP for Chester was Sir Peter Morrison, who was abusing kids in care in north Wales and who’s sister Dame Mary was Woman-of-the-Bedchamber to HM the Queen.

This is the man upon whom this house of cards was built:

Dr Dafydd Alun Jones

And this was/is his partner in crime:

Lucille Hughes

It is incredible isn’t it.

From what I can work out from Ken’s book, the battle between Thatch and the Duke of Westminster over a great deal of dosh was taking place whilst I was working at St George’s!

Ken’s book states that the Gov’t did not hand the dosh to the Duke, although Ken doesn’t explain how Thatch and he won that particular battle with the Royal Family. Probably because she didn’t. The Duke of Westminster took the option of buying the Hyde Park Corner building off the Gov’t for £6000k, the value of the building in the 19th century.

This is what Prince Charles’s friend got for six grand:

The Lanesborough Hotel
Lanesborough Hotel.jpg

The St George’s Hyde Park Corner building is now the 5* Lanesborough Hotel. In 2015 it was said to be the most expensive hotel in London and it has Michelin stars.

It’s incredible what deals can be struck if murders have gone uninvestigated, as well as paedophile gangs with members who are Tory MPs with sisters as courtiers.

Most of the victims of the paedophile ring of which Peter Morrison was a member were subsequently found dead, so presumably they never shared in the good fortune once St George’s had relocated to Tooting.

Sir Peter Morrison was knighted by HM Lilibet in Feb 1991, which was when I was sitting in Springfield Hospital (the mental health unit linked to St George’s), having been forced out of my job, facing possible imprisonment on the basis of the perjury of Tony and Sadie Francis, whilst the Top Docs of Springfield and St George’s personally negotiated with Dafydd, Francis and Lucille Hughes without my knowledge.

In 1991 the North Wales Police launched the first investigation into the abuse of children in care in north Wales. The Chief Constable of North Wales, David Owen, refused to co-operate with the investigation. In 1993 the North Wales Police closed the investigation and declared that there was no evidence of a paedophile ring in north Wales.

The former colleagues of Dafydd – considering what a bunch of mediocre meatheads they were – all found pretty nice little numbers for themselves in the years after I was forced out of St George’s, as did their children. One of the daughters of an Angel who worked for Dafydd, a man whom his colleagues nicknamed Davey Crockett, was given a job as a senior social worker in the Office of the Children’s Commissioner for Wales! The Children’s Commissioner was established as a result of Ronnie Waterhouse’s recommendations. Wales leads the way in children’s safety.

Here’s where the bodies of the disappeared are buried:

Oh yes you did.

I think that my life must have stopped when I was in my 20s when I was transported into a Lyndsay Anderson film in 1973.

Some of the people who know something about the reasons why Thatch flogged a piece of Knightsbridge worth millions to Charles’s friend for a bit of loose change who have not yet been named on this blog are:

Huw Griffiths, the incompetent solicitor who used to work in Bangor in the 1990s. Huw is the twin brother of the equally incompetent Aled Griffiths and they are the siblings of Gwenan Carrington, the former Director of Gwynedd Social Services. Aled and Gwenan have been named here previously.

Ceridwen Morgan. Ceridwen’s mum was the legendary Mrs Morgan, who worked in the Zoology Dept in UCNW, whilst the sex traffickers ran the institution. Ceridwen will know something – she was a young adult when it was all happening.

Mrs Morgan had an affair with Professor Lacey in the Plant Biology Dept. Two members of staff in Plant Biology were married to members of the sex trafficking ring. Ralph Oxley was married to Isobel Hargreaves, a social worker for Gwynedd County Council. Chris Wood was married to Dr D.G.E. Wood. Everyone who worked in Plant Biology knew something. Many of them are dead now but those still alive include Dr Dave Shaw, Dr Richard Shattock and a technician called Geraint. There was also a technician called Lynn who worked there for years.

Dr Kieran Lynch. Dr Lynch was a Top Doc working in the North Wales Hospital when Mary Wynch was illegally imprisoned there. Dr Lynch is Irish, he might well have a link to Gangster Gibbons. Gangster Gibbons arrived in Wales in Dafydd’s heyday…

Dr Eifiona Thomas Lane, who is hiding in the bowels of Bangor University after spending years in the comfortable surroundings of Coleg Normal, along with so many other paedophiles’ friends.  I think that Eifiona might be married to a Top Doctor from Penrhyndeudraeth, in which case he’ll be able to point to the burial sites at Denbigh.

The appalling Dr Giles Harborne, a former colleague of Dafydd’s who also worked at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh. I have mentioned Giles before, but I see that he is now on the ‘professional panel’ of the charidee Hafal, along with that other faithful paedophiles’ friend Lord Alex Carlile. Hafal has gone into partnership with CAIS and now provides ‘service user involvement’ services across north Wales. The Welsh Gov’t gave Dafydd and Lucille one and a half million quid for that scam.

Muriel Evans, a secretary in the School of English at Bangor University – she might have retired by now. Muriel was there when the paedophile gang ruined the lecturer Dave Nunn, who later disappeared from north Wales after telling some Top Docs that he’d read some ludicrous documents that Dafydd had compiled about me and presented to Liverpool High Court.

Muriel is married to Edward Evans, who worked as a technician in the Zoology Dept for years but ended up in HR. When Edward used to see me around he used to cheerily say ‘you’ll write your autobiography one day won’t you, we know you will’. Well Ed, I’ve done it. My original plan was to only name Dafydd and those directly responsible for the horrors, but then I found out how many people had gained jobs and promotions as a result of doing deals to keep quiet about what had happened to me, received money to perjure themselves or do other disgusting things, plagiarised my work, knowingly spread rumours about me etc etc. But most of all I’ve named everyone because you all swore blind that you knew nothing whilst a bunch of gangsters tried to murder me because of what I witnessed 30 years ago…

To return to the big umbrella at St George’s. I wondered who ever pushed the idea that St George’s should relocate to Tooting. The construction of the Tooting building began in the early 1970s. By 1976 the medical school had transferred to the Tooting site, along with part of the hospital and the Hyde Park Corner site finally closed its doors as a hospital in 1980. I presume that the movers and shakers behind the planning to move St George’s to Tooting were those in positions of responsibility in the mid-late 60s.

When the idea was mooted, Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor’s father will have been the Duke of Westminster. That was Robert Grosvenor, the 5th Duke of Westminster. In the 1970s, he was the richest man in Britain.

The 5th Duke went to Eton, followed a career in the British Army and between 1955-64 was the MP for Fermanagh and South Tyrone. He was responsible for the Adoption Act 1964, an Act that some unscrupulous people had a great deal of fun with…Just ask Dafydd and Lucille.

Robert Grosvenor was a member of the Lords, 1967-79, but he never spoke in the Lords. He was Lord Lieutenant of Fermanagh, 1977-79.

The Grosvenor family seat is in Cheshire, but Robert Grosvenor spent most of his life living at Ely Lodge, Enniskillen, which was where his son Gerald spent his early years.

Robert Grosvenor will have known whatever it was that was going on at Kincora Boys’ Home that the British Gov’t were so desperate to keep secret.

Somehow Grosvenor must have been persuaded to agree that St George’s would relocate to Tooting. The Gov’t at the time will have been Harold Wilson’s.

The VC of London University, 1967-69, was Sir Owen Saunders. Saunders was a mathematician and engineer who spent most of his career at Imperial College and seems to have been the reason why Imperial thrived and expanded enormously during the middle years of the 20th century.

Saunders was born in Streatham, went to Birkbeck and then to Trinity College, Cambridge. At Imperial College Saunders served as Professor and Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Dean of the City and Guilds College, Pro-Rector and, following the death of Sir Patrick Linstead in 1966, Acting Rector and then Rector of Imperial. At London University Saunders served in many capacities. He was Chairman of the Academic Council and was appointed Vice-Chancellor following his retirement from Imperial College in 1967. Yet Saunders only remained VC of London University until 1969. After that he was Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Royal Holloway College and he presided over the merging of that college with Bedford College to form the Royal Holloway and Bedford New College.

Saunders was the man responsible for the reorganisation of London University which led to increased devolution of responsibility to the constituent colleges of London University in the Seventies.

There are descriptions of the miracle that Saunders performed at Imperial, of how people began flocking to work there and of the expansionist building programme which effectively created a whole new college at the forefront of teaching and research. Saunders’s obituaries mention that ‘throughout’ it all, ‘there was close co-operation with industry and government laboratories’.

Saunders is described as having ‘moved quietly, almost mysteriously’. On one occasion he invited the staff ‘to a display of conjuring in one of the old lecture theatres. It was the cat rather than the rabbit let out of the bag when we discovered that the Professor was a member of the Magic Circle. Someone whispered, ‘So that is how he does it,’ and we knew what he meant’.

Greville Janner was a member of the Magic Circle.

I suspect that Saunders’s success was nothing to do with his abilities to perform conjuring tricks with animals, although his membership of the Magic Circle may have been very useful. Most people who achieve great things in the sort of institution that London University was and is do so by gaining knowledge of events that powerful people are desperate to keep quiet and then by doing the bidding of those people. As Robert Bluglass can testify.

A dungeon Blugass, with the victims of a paedophile ring illegally imprisoned there – a paedophile ring which numbered among its members a friend of the Prime Minister who was also the brother of Lilibet’s Woman-of-the-Bedchamber. Do you think that you’ll be able to get out of this one then Bluglass?

Owen Saunders was educated at Emanuel School, Wandsworth and at Birkbeck College, London University and Trinity College, Cambridge.

Saunders worked with many influential people and was in a position to gain knowledge of much sensitive material, particularly because he worked for the Civil Service as well as in academia. At Trinity College his tutor was Frank Dykes, the pioneer of the Engineering Department at Cambridge.  From Cambridge, Saunders moved to the Fuel Research Station at Greenwich where he met Dr Margaret Fishenden, who had worked with Ernest Rutherford. Saunders had a Civil Service contract that allowed him to move between establishments and colleges and libraries. As a result, Saunders was ‘spotted’ by Professor C.H. Lander (whom he later succeeded at City and Guilds College) and Fishenden followed him. Their research student, Hugh Ford, succeeded Saunders to the Chair and Headship of Mechanical Engineering in Imperial College almost 30 years later.

Early in WWII at Imperial College, ‘almost certainly under the influence of Sir Henry Tizard, then Rector of Imperial College’, Saunders was involved with work on the performance of aircraft piston engines at high altitude. He developed improvements for aircraft engines in aerial combat. Then Saunders was closely associated with Sir Frank Whittle at Power Jets and with Hayne Constant at the Royal Aircraft Establishment Farnborough. Saunders worked on the industrial applications of gas turbines with support from the Ministry of Fuel and Power and from the British Shipbuilders Research Association.

Saunders worked for numerous Gov’t committees – so many that his colleagues couldn’t work out how he actually did all the work that it was claimed he undertook for them. Saunders served on the Aeronautical Research Council for six years, as Chairman of the Propulsion Standing Committee for nine years and he was the first Chairman of the Rockets Committee. For the Admiralty he served in the Marine Propulsion Committee and was Chairman of the Panel for Special Propulsions Systems for Submarines. He was a consultant to the Engineer in Chief and a member of the Committee on Naval Engineering Establishments. He worked with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research on the steering committee of the National Engineering Laboratory from its formation. He served on the Fielden Committee on Engineering Design.

So Saunders was involved with the Admiralty and associated organisations and people. The Admiralty which contained those very senior officers that featured in my post ‘The Defence Of The Realm’ such as Lord Louis Mountbatten and Sir Alec Bingley, who were the subject of allegations of child abuse themselves and/or were friends and colleagues of those who were and/or those who concealed child abuse and the associated very serious wrongdoing. The Admiralty was the site of the John Vassall Spy Scandal in the early 1960s (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’).

The problem with naughtiness in high places involving crime, spies and Royal personages is what unscrupulous people do if they find out about it. For example, a mad old psychiatrist in north Wales or a less mad but ruthless English engineer who fancies creating a vast world-leading empire out of Imperial College.

Owen Saunders was a member of the Ronan Point inquiry in 1968, sitting for many days with Lord Griffiths and Sir Alfred Pugsley. It was claimed that Saunders was so concerned at the possible hazards of a domestic gas explosion in a high-rise building that he pressed for action even before the official report was produced…

Saunders continued to exert influence long after he had stepped down from positions of responsibility, via his former students. His last research student had been Professor Peter Richardson who was then at Brown University. Richardson had just been elected into the Fellowship of the Royal Society and Imperial College had taken the decision to merge with St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, a decision Saunders ‘warmly welcomed’.

St Mary’s Hospital is the hospital containing Lindo Wing, the favoured location for Royal Births…

Owen Saunders probably wasn’t the sort of man who was particularly interested in democratising medical schools, expanding medical education or relocating a bunch of vile elitist Top Doctors from their paradise at Hyde Park Corner to Tooting, but Harold Wilson was interested in those things. Information about Harold suggests that he didn’t implement such policies because he had principles, but because he knew that they would be vote winners after the scandals involving the Toffs, such as Profumo, Vassall and the Spies in the Admiralty etc.

Harold of the Proles got on very well with HM the Queen, so well that when Harold was linked to matters such as Lord Kagan’s corruption, the Lavender List and Marcia Falkender et al, the Queen’s judgement of character was questioned – ‘she was friends with Wilson and he was a bloody crook!’. Then it was revealed that Lilibet’s art historian Anthony Blunt was a double agent for the Ruskies… No-one knew about Charles’s deep and meaningful friendship with Savile in those days or HM the Queen Mother’s loyal servant Backstairs Billy – satirised in Viz as Backdoor Bobby – being infected with HIV or indeed what Dame Mary Morrison’s brother was doing to boys in the children’s homes in north Wales…

The Dean of St George’s whilst the move from Hyde Park Corner to Tooting was planned was Alastair Hunter, who was Dean between 1956-71. Hunter was Vice-President of the University of London, 1974-75.

Alastair Hunter came from a medical family. His father was a GP in Sussex and he was educated at Winchester and Trinity College, Cambridge, before going on to St George’s Hospital, from where he qualified in 1933.

Hunter rose through the ranks at St George’s, worked at the London Hospital and then went to the Far East as a medical specialist in the RAMC. He returned to St George’s in 1947 to set up the cardiac department. He continued to practice medicine and cardiology during the whole of his long career at St George’s, but ‘also became increasingly involved in the vast transition which that hospital and its associated medical school were about to experience and was, in fact, one of the formative figures responsible for those changes’. He and others ‘had the vision in the early 1950s’, to see that the teaching hospital would be better placed in the centre of an ordinary population rather than at Hyde Park Corner and they set in train the events which led to the development of school and hospital at Tooting.

Hunter’s obituarist stated that as Dean of St George’s ‘He knew all the students, their strengths and weaknesses and knew too how to recognize and bring out their latent attributes. His judgement of people was phenomenally precise, and appointments committees usually had the good sense to follow his lead…On the larger scale, he steered the school through some of the biggest changes in its history and set it on the course towards the large independent medical school which it has now become’.

Hunter became an important influence beyond St George’s, especially in the University of London. He was a member of the Senate and the Academic Council, and he became Chairman of the Conference of Metropolitan Deans. At the College, Hunter served as Assistant Registrar (1950-57), Censor (1971-73) and Vice-President and Senior Censor (1974-75).

Hunter was interested in modern painting and owned a notable collection. He was involved with the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, which ‘benefited from his guidance and his generosity’.

Alastair Hunter continued an active working life after retirement, helped to plan the Cambridge clinical school and advised the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Alastair was unmarried.

Sir Owen Saunders was succeeded as VC of London University by Professor Sir Brian Windeyer, who was VC between 1969-72. Windeyer was Professor of Therapeutic Radiology at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School, 1942-69 and Dean of the School, 1954-67.

Gwynne the lobotomist was an alumnus of the Middlesex Hospital Medical School – he was a student there whilst Windeyer worked there – and was protected by that institution throughout his career of crime. So one of Gwynne’s umbrella’s was appointed as the VC of London University the year after John Allen established the Bryn Alyn Community, which was the centre of the sex trafficking gang facilitated by Dafydd and Gwynne.

Windeyer was born in Australia, the youngest of seven children of Mabel Fuller Robinson (1864–1956), an orphan emigrant from London to Australia at the age of 18. In 1891 she married Richard Windeyer, a barrister, the son of Sir William Charles Windeyer, a well known Australian judge. Richard Windeyer acted as a Supreme Court judge, Nov 1936-37 and was counsel in the Australian Newspaper Proprietors’ Association’s successful case against Arthur Calwell’s censorship laws during WWII. Richard Windeyer stood as an independent Australian People’s Party candidate in the 1929 federal election. He lectured at the University of Sydney, 1935-44.

Brian Windeyer studied medicine at the University of Sydney, qualifying in 1927. After time at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney, he worked at the Fondation Curie in Paris, 1929–30. He obtained a Diploma in Medical Radiology and Electrology 1933 at Cambridge University and also obtained FRCS at the University of Edinburgh. In 1931 he became radium officer at the Middlesex Hospital and officer in charge of the Meyerstein Institute of Radiotherapy, formed in 1936. In World War II Windmeyer was Director in the emergency medical service of Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood, Middlesex. In 1942 he became the first Professor of Therapeutic Radiology at the Middlesex.

So Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends were bombproof in Australia as well. Could that have been why the terrible abuse experienced by the kids from the UK who were sent as child migrants to Australia throughout the 50s, 60s and into the 70s received no publicity for so long? The Councils and Boroughs which sent those kids to Australia were also sending kids to children’s homes in north Wales.

The VC of London University who preceded Sir Owen Saunders needs a mention – it was Sir Thomas Percival Creed. Sir Thomas was a lawyer and Principal of Queen Mary College, University of London, 1952-67 and VC of London University, 1964-67.

Creed was born in Leicester, the son of a clergyman and went to Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys in Leicester. He served in the Artists Rifles in France in WWI and then studied at Pembroke College, Oxford. After Oxford Creed joined the Sudan political service, where he read for the bar. In 1926 he became a District judge and in 1928 was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn. In 1931 he was seconded to Iraq, became a judge in Baghdad and held other positions in Kirkuk and Mosul. In 1935 he returned to Sudan as a High Court judge, was Chief Justice of Sudan, 1935–41 and Legal Secretary, 1941-48.

Creed became Secretary of King’s College, London in 1948 and Principal of Queen Mary College in 1952. From 1964-67 he was Vice-Chancellor of London University. His time there was a period of expansion but he managed to ensure the continued federal structure of the university.

Creed married Margaret Brewis of St Helen’s, Merseyside. Creed died in 1969. So until then, Gwynne and Dafydd et al had a powerful friend who had strong connections to Leicester. In 1987, Dr James Earp from Leicester concealed Dafydd and Tony Francis’s criminality.  Anyone remember that business of no-one being able to explain why Greville Janner escaped prosecution in the face of so much evidence and why the police, NHS and Leicester City Council had been criminally negligent in the face of Frank Beck’s offending?

The Health Minister/Secretary of State for Social Services, 1964-68, under Harold Wilson was Kenneth Robinson. So Robinson was in post whilst Alastair Hunter of the Big Democratic Vision was Dean of St George’s and whilst Sir Thomas Percival Creed of Sudan and Leicester was VC of London University. Robinson also caught the first year of Sir Owen Saunders tenure as VC.

Readers might remember previous posts on this blog which discussed Sir Kenneth Robinson. Robinson served as the first President of the National Association of Mental Health (MIND) in the 1960s. Dafydd was a leading light in MIND in the 1960s. It is worth me reminding everyone of the highlights of Sir Kenneth.

Sir Kenneth was the son of a Top Doctor and a nurse. He was born in Warrington and was educated at Malsis School in North Yorkshire, before attending Oundle School until his father died when Kenneth was 15 yrs old.  His mother withdrew him from the school on cost grounds. Kenneth joined the Royal Navy during WWII as an ordinary seaman, was commissioned in 1942 and promoted to lieutenant-commander in 1944. So Kenneth was one of the Naval officers who would have known about the naughtiness in the higher echelons of the Navy and the Admiralty (see post ‘Defence Of The Realm’ and ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’). Lady Juliet Bingley became involved with MIND and took a leading role for many years. Lady Juliet was married to Admiral Sir Alec Bingley. Between them, Lady Juliet and her son William concealed the crimes of Dafydd et al for decades whilst they worked for MIND and then when William was Chief Exec of the Mental Health Act Commission (see post ‘MIND Are Out For Mental Health – Not For Themselves Of Course’).

Kenneth Robinson was a St Pancras Borough Councillor, 1945-49. He was elected as the Labour MP for St Pancras North in 1949. Robinson’s wiki entry tells us: ‘he was probably one of the UK’s most respected Health Ministers. He was always willing to listen, and indeed took informal advice from his local GPs during difficult negotiations over the GP Charter in 1965. John Horder stated of Robinson’s role as Minister of Health: “Kenneth brought to this crisis a mind that was well prepared and the calmness, consideration and personality which we all have known.” Robinson noticed problems with Britain’s approach to General Practice Medicine and quickly sought to reach agreement with practitioners and change the organization, funding, and nature of practice in the system. Robinson published the first consultative document on reorganisation and the need for administrative reform of the National Health System. One compromise he instituted was to reduce the number of hospital beds, under an argument of current under-utilization, and in agreement with the medical profession. In return, the government lifted the limits on fees that medical consultants could charge to patients.’

Little wonder that the Top Docs loved Robinson – he reduced the number of hospital beds AND allowed the Top Docs to charge what they wanted…

Kenneth’s willingness to roll over and have his tummy tickled by the Top Docs had far-reaching consequences. His reduction of beds in return for even more dosh in the Top Docs’ pockets formed the basis for the 1966 General Practitioner’s Charter, which Robinson negotiated with Dr. James Cameron, the General Medical Services Committee  Chairman. Robinson also placed emphasis on nursing, appointing Sir Brian Salman to a ‘special committee of management experts and nurses, which looked into ways to advise and prepare senior staff at hospitals for their posts’. Nurses were treated appallingly and paid very badly for well over twenty years following Sir Kenneth’s ’emphasis’ on them, so he obviously ensured that they continued to keep their traps shut and do what they were told.

Robinson was the man who became embroiled in a massive legal spat with the Church of Scientology. The Scientologists were, strangely enough, convinced that psychiatrists were facilitating crime, experimenting on patients and involved in the sexual abuse of minors. The Scientologists infiltrated MIND in 1969 and MIND conducted a mass expulsion of members who were also Scientologists.

I’m not sure of the exact chronology but the Church of Scientology and Robinson both seemed to have sued each other for libel, although there seems to have only been one trial.

Ronnie Waterhouse was involved in the battle between the Church of Scientology and Robinson/MIND. Ronnie defended Geoffrey Johnson-Smith, the Tory MP for East Grinstead – who was a friend of Sir Robin Day – against Church of Scientology. The Church tried to sue Johnson-Smith and Robinson over claims that Johnson-Smith had made on the BBC that families were being alienated by the Church. Although the Church produced witnesses who spoke highly of it, the jury decided that Johnson-Smith’s comments were substantially true and made in good faith.

Ronnie recommended that Sir Elwyn Jones lead for the defence. Sir Elwyn Jones – who later became Lord Elwyn-Jones – ranked high in the pecking order among the paedophiles’ friends of north Wales. He grew up in west Wales, passed through University College Aberystwyth and Cambridge and became a barrister on the Chester and Wales Circuit and a Recorder of Merthyr Tydfil. He served as the Labour MP for Plaistow, West Ham South and Newham. Elwyn Jones was Attorney General under Harold Wilson, 1964-70 and then Lord Chancellor, 1974-79, under Wilson and then Callaghan. It was on his watch as Lord Chancellor that Ronnie was appointed a High Court judge. Elwyn Jones was Shadow Lord Chancellor, 1983-89, under the Windbag.

Elwyn Jones was Lord Chancellor when Mary Wynch was unlawfully arrested and imprisoned by Dr Dafydd Alun Jones et al, as well as during the preceding years when she had come under attack from a ring of crooked solicitors who fleeced her of her inheritance.

Sir Peter Rawlinson was Attorney General at the time of the Geoffrey Johnson-Smith case – Rawlinson was AG throughout the years of Heath’s Gov’t. He had been Solicitor-General under Macmillan at the time of the John Vassall spy scandal (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’), so Rawlinson knew that there was naughtiness in high places accompanied by much hypocrisy.

Geoffrey Johnson-Smith’s appearance on the BBC which sparked the legal case with the Scientologists was the result of a question he’d put to Kenneth Robinson in the House in 1968. Robinson really did not like the Scientologists. It is a great pity that the Church of Scientology is built on such shaky foundations itself, because much of what they have said about psychiatry for years I have found to be true.

The first person whom I met who really hated the Scientologists was Dr D.G.E. Wood, who was helping run Dafydd’s sex trafficking business. Did Wood just think that L. Ron Hubbard’s writings were a bit outlandish? No. Wood told me that the Scientologists needed a shotgun against their heads. Which was an interesting desire, in the light of the claim by one boy at Bryn Alyn that he was sexually assaulted at gunpoint.

Ronnie Waterhouse’s book mentioned that in the Geoffrey Johnson-Smith case, the Scientologists were represented by a junior barrister, Ronald Schulman, who later ‘disappeared in mysterious circumstances’. Ronnie’s story was that Schulman ‘behaved oddly’ in relation to the will of a man who died in a private plan crash en route to France. Ronnie maintained that Schulman was last seen by Ronnie’s barrister friend James Crespi, ‘breakfasting at the Great Eastern Hotel’. Ronnie tells us that it was speculated that Schulman ended up in Brazil. After tangling with Ronnie and the gang it was rather more likely that Schulman ended up in the concrete in a flyover.

James Crespi QC was a friend of George Carman’s and they used to go out boozing and clubbing together. Crespi married a ‘young nightclub hostess’ who left him after three weeks of marriage.

The case appeared before Justice Ackner, and was entitled Robinson v Church of Scientology of California and Others. This resulted in a settlement between the parties on June 1973, where the Church of Scientology acknowledged that there was no truth to the allegations that they had published and offered its apologies to Robinson along with a ‘substantial sum to mark the gravity of the libels’.

I am not a Scientologist and I do not subscribe to L. Ron Hubbard’s theories, but I take the view that Robinson winning that libel case is no reflection upon the truth or otherwise of the allegations made about Robinson, MIND and the psychiatric establishment by the Scientologists. Dafydd was a leading light in MIND at that time and he and his colleagues were running a sex trafficking racket which involved very serious crime; he was being protected by Robinson and the legal establishment. That lot would have been capable of doing and saying anything to force the Scientologists to retract their allegations and cough up damages. At one point Tony Francis instructed his solicitors to sue me for damages on the grounds that I was ‘harassing’ him – my ‘harassment’ consisted solely of letters of complaint about the criminal activities of him and his colleagues. Francis subsequently dropped all talk of suing me once he realised that I’d found a lawyer to fight back on my behalf.

Robinson was a member of the Homosexual Law Reform Society’s executive committee. He supported the legalisation of abortion and was Minister of Health in 1967 when the Abortion Act 1967 came into force. Robinson was supportive of voluntary hospitals and health services and voiced his encouragement to these institutions in a speech to the National Association of Leagues of Hospital Friends. These organisations colluded with the Top Docs and the abuse of vulnerable people, almost certainly because they occupied a very submissive position in relation to the NHS.

Robinson later joined Dr Death in the SDP. Which says it all – Dr Death had personal connections to some of the Top Docs of north Wales (see post ‘Dr Death’).

Whilst Kenneth Robinson was Health Minister, the criminal activities of Dafydd and Gwynne were well-known to Gov’t and were being concealed. At that time Bryn Estyn was directly managed by the Home Office as an Approved School and it was known that boys were being abused there. There was also abuse of boys at Axwell Park Approved School at Gateshead, the institution which employed Matt Arnold and Peter Howarth, who later transferred to Bryn Estyn and were at the hub of the paedophile gang in north Wales. The Home Secretaries whilst Robinson was Health Minister were Roy Jenkins and then Jim Callaghan. Woy spent years concealing the abuse of vulnerable people and after his adventures with Dr Death spent a sufficiently long time in politics to end up as an adviser to Blair. Jim Callaghan also concealed abuse, including in Wales. Callaghan knew that George Thomas was molesting children – Callaghan hated George Thomas but wasn’t going to take him on. The Labour Party couldn’t have afforded such a scandal in its stronghold in south Wales and furthermore George Thomas was mates with Harold Wilson – Wilson kicked off election campaigns with visits to south Wales, accompanied by Thomas. George Thomas was also a good friend to the Royal Family.

Callaghan’s wife Audrey concealed child abuse, both in London and in south Wales. The Callaghans socialised with Leo Abse, who intimidated people and threatened to stitch them up in court in order to conceal his mate George Thomas’s crimes (see post ‘It Wasn’t On Our Radar’). Abse has been investigated for historical sex offences himself. It was whilst Kenneth Robinson was Health Minister that Abse began his efforts which resulted in the rewriting of the legislation regarding children in care which Dafydd and the paedophiles found so helpful, using the paedophiles’ friends to provide ‘expertise’. It was Jim Callaghan who in his capacity as Home Secretary invited Abse to sit on the Houghton Committee, which led to the Children Act 1975. Abse had been working since the late 1960s to establish such a Committee, he pulled the strings and the Committee was comprised of paedophiles’ friends. See post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’ for details of Abse’s Grand Plan, which came to fruition with the help of Dr Death.

Kenneth Robinson et al were influential figures when the Windbag began his career in politics – the Windbag who knew Tony Francis when they were at university in Cardiff, the Windbag who was married to Glenys the schoolteacher from Holyhead who’s family were mates with Lord Cledwyn, who colluded with Dafydd and the paedophiles himself. Once the Windbag had established himself politically, it was time for Ron Davies of the Moments of Madness and Looking for Badgers to emerge as a force in south Wales Labour politics…. And so it snowballs into the present.

Robinson served as Chairman of English National Opera, 1972-77, of the GLC’s London Transport Executive , 1975 -78, and of the Arts Council of Great Britain, 1977-82.

It was Nye Bevan’s widow Jennie Lee who was Harold Wilson’s Minister for the Arts whilst Kenneth Robinson was Health Minister. Lee was responsible for renewing the charter of the Arts Council in 1967 which saw an expansion in its work just in time for Sir Kenneth to benefit from that. Jennie Lee and Nye Bevan knew about the abuse of children and other people which was facilitated by the NHS, the creation of which was what Nye built his reputation on (see post ‘The Human Stain’). It was deeply flawed from the very beginning but no-one dared say a word.

Jennie Lee and Harold’s crooked lawyer friend Lord Goodman – who helped to get Jeremy Thorpe out of the slurry pit in 1979 – were responsible for establishing the OU, one of Wilson’s flagship achievements.

So Harold Wilson busied himself expanding and indeed creating universities, investing in the arts and pushed through schemes such as the relocation of St George’s to Tooting in the name of democracy. It looked very good, but an analysis of the activities of the people who were the movers and shakers behind all this and the trade-offs involved leaves one in no doubt that the poorest and most vulnerable citizens in the UK paid a high price for aspiring wealthier people to lead the life of Riley. Those at the bottom of the heap were locked in a dungeon in north Wales because they were capable of telling people that they had been used for sex by some of the most revered members of society.

Kenneth Robinson died in London in February 1996. By which time Ronnie Waterhouse knew damn well that he was going to be Chairing a rigged Judicial Inquiry in order to conceal the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal, but he, Hague and many others pretended that they knew nuzzing.

The nature of those governing London University got no better when Professor Sir Brian Windermeyer stepped down as VC. The VC who succeeded him was Sir Cyril Phillips, 1972-76. Sir Cyril was educated at Rock Ferry High School and then attended the University of Liverpool. Sir Cyril then attended the  School of Oriental Studies in London. Sir Cyril served in the Army Education Corps during WWII, ending the war as a lieutenant colonel. He joined SOAS, becoming Professor and Head of the History Depart. In 1956 he became Director of SOAS. It was said that Sir Cyril ‘virtually remade the school’ in the following years.

It was Sir Cyril’s job as VC of London University, 1972-76, to implement the reforms that had been planned years before. He took advantage of his appointment not to follow the original plans. Not that whoever appointed him would have expected him to implement those plans – Sir Cyril’s track record was of a conservative man who had no sympathy for the student activism of the late 1960s and who became embroiled in feuds with other people. By the time Cyril Phillips became VC, Ted Heath was PM.

Philips’ inherited ‘a reforming brief and a financial crisis’. Phillips’s obituary stated that ‘Extraordinary battles ensued as he sought to replace the worst aspects of a re-centralising plan with more rational governance.’ This did not make Phillips a popular man and his tenure as VC was shortened. He stepped down in 1976. Not that his talents had gone unnoticed. He was invited by the Callaghan Gov’t to Chair the Royal Commission on Criminal Procedure (1978-81) into the police and criminal evidence system, the police complaints board and review of the Prevention of Terrorism Act – which led to the police and criminal evidence system under Thatch. Which was when Dafydd and the paedophiles had a party…

Philips’ report was described by Patrick Mayhew – the corrupt barrister who did favours for the GMC with regard to ensuring that the paedophile Top Doc Dr Morris Fraser continued practising and who in his capacity as Attorney General authorised two attempts to imprison me for contempt of court although it was known that the paedophiles’ friends had perjured themselves – in Hansard, June 30 2003 as ‘one of the finest expositions of the balance … between administrative and security convenience … and … the liberty of the citizen’.

Sir Cyril then Chaired the Police Complaints Board and Reviewed the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

After Sir Cyril Phillips had stood down to prepare the ground for Thatcher’s abuse of the police force and criminal justice system, Sir Frank Hartley took over as VC of London University, 1976-78.

Hartley was born in Lancashire and attended Nelson Municipal Secondary School and went on to study for the diploma of pharmaceutical chemistry at the School of Pharmacy, London – now part of UCL. He then worked there as demonstrator and studied for a degree in chemistry at Birkbeck College.

Hartley completed his PhD whilst teaching at the School of Pharmacy. He then became Chief Chemist of the British laboratories of Organon, which were mostly concerned with steroids. From 1943 Hartley was involved with maximizing penicillin production and also research into other antibiotics. In 1946 he became Director of Research and Scientific Services at British Drug Houses (later merged with Merck KGaA) and was involved with work on contraceptive steroids. In 1974 Hartley became Vice-Chairman of the Medicines Commission.  In 1962 he became Dean of the School of Pharmacy, which had then become a school of the University of London. In 1965 Hartley became President of the Royal Institute of Chemistry. He took an active role in university affairs becoming Deputy Vice-Chancellor in 1973 and Vice-Chancellor in 1976. He was the first pharmacist to be an honorary member of the Royal Society of Physicians in 1979 and Royal College of Surgeons in 1980.

Hartley’s son Peter became a canon of the Church of England and his son Frank Robinson Hartley was Vice-Chancellor of Cranfield University from 1989-06.

When I was researching Frank Hartley a few days ago, there was information on the internet linking him directly to the Thalidomide Scandal, but like a great deal of info relating to people whom I mention on the blog that I am about to start researching into, it has disappeared. However Dr David Healy’s blog has featured two recent posts concerning thalidomide. I am still waiting for David to grass up the people traffickers in the north Wales mental health services with whom he has worked for so long, but his exposes of Big Pharma are always worth reading.

It was the ‘Sunday Times’ journo Marjorie Wallace who was behind the campaign on behalf of those who had suffered as a result of thalidomide – it made Marjorie’s name as a fighter for justice. Sadly Marjorie participated in the ultimate deceit in the late 1980s when the net looked as though it was closing in on Dafydd and the paedophiles. Marjorie posed as a mental health campaigner but aligned herself with the Top Docs whom she knew were concealing sex trafficking rings. Marjorie’s shameful record is detailed in my post ‘One Dangerous Fucker’.

Sir Frank Hartley sat on numerous committees and Boards, including the Board of the Royal Free Hospital. Duncan Orme, who as an SU sabbatical officer at UCNW colluded with the wrongdoing of Gwynne and the sex traffickers and who has now reached the higher echelons of NHS senior management, landed his first NHS job at the Royal Free (see post ‘Cry, The Beloved Country’). Just when everyone was really desperate to keep the lid on the Westminster Paedophile Ring. I was interviewed by the Royal Free at pretty much the same time – during the interview a comment was made to me which contained info regarding me that could only have come from the sex traffickers of north Wales…

Hartley was also on the Boards of Tommy’s Medical School and Kingston Poly. Adrian Bell, one of the staff at UCNW (Bangor University), who colluded with D.G.E. Wood and the sex traffickers did his degree at Kingston Poly. One of Sir William Asscher’s tasks as Dean/Principal of St George’s Hospital Medical School was to oversee the merger of St George’s with Kingston Poly. I have never been able to get to the bottom of why this happened. As with the move to Tooting, the Top Docs of St George’s really did not want to merge with a Poly – I mean St George’s had a hotline to the Royal Family…

One thing that I remember Adrian Bell talking to students about at Bangor was his previous career as a forensic scientist. His story was that he had given it up because of the constant serious abuses of the law with which the forensic science service assisted. So that’s why he rocked up in an institution run by sex traffickers and joined in with them… Adrian was keeping up standards! Or did some of Adrian’s former colleagues from the Home Office/forensic science service catch up with him when I found out about Dafydd et al and began writing letters to Ministers? Adrian Bell was a colleague of Prof Grieg-Smith, who knew Prof Edred Corner, the uncle of Douglas Hurd – who was the Home Secretary turning a blind eye to Dafydd and the paedophiles trying to fit me up in court (see post ‘Additional Security Measures’).

Wheels within wheels – or the same incestuously corrupt shithouse?

  • Farm outhouse lavatory dunny shithouse rustic toilet ...

After Sir Frank Hartley died, his son Frank, the former VC of Cranfield University, said that his father had regretted his work on oral contraceptives because he had not been at all happy with the changes in sexual behaviour that he believed that the ‘pill’ had brought about. Sir Frank was someone who oversaw large scale research fraud at London University and protected people who facilitated a paedophile gang who murdered victims and witnesses. I’m sure that it won’t have been Sir Frank’s work on oral contraceptives that caused St Peter to lock the gates when he saw Sir Frank approaching. Particularly as the oral contraceptive that Sir Frank was involved in developing was never marketed because of its ‘side effects’. This was said to have enhanced Sir Frank’s standing on committees concerned with the safety of medicines. One wonders how thalidomide or indeed the many other harmful drugs that ended up on the market slipped past Sir Frank. Along with the Westminster Paedophile Ring.

The Discovery Of A Whole New Galaxy…

Thanks to my correspondent Lydia for bringing my attention to yet another leading light in psychiatry in Wales – Kenneth Rawnsley, who was Professor of Psychological Medicine at Cardiff, 1964-85. Not only did Prof Ken know all about Dr Dafydd Alun Jones and the paedophiles, but he was the man who gave Dafydd’s therapeutic community in the cellar of the North Wales Hospital Denbigh the official stamp of approval and who reassured everyone that standards at Denbigh were fine. Ken did this whilst all those folk who had dared challenge the paedophiles and their friends were illegally imprisoned in Denbigh and whilst the elderly lady Mary was still locked inside that place for no other reason than 60 years previously she had given birth without being married (see post ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’). Ken also taught Tony Francis (Dr X) and was the ultimate boss of the team that Francis worked in when Francis worked in Cardiff. Ken was President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, 1981-84.

Rawnsley was born in Halifax, went to Burnley Grammar School and then Manchester University where he qualified in 1948. He worked as a house physician to Robert – later Lord – Platt (see post ‘The Creme de la Creme’) in 1949 at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The Royal College of Physicians website’s section on ‘Lives of the Fellows’ tells us that there was a ‘galaxy of gifted young men’ –  yet another galaxy of Top Doctors – working under Platt at the time, one of whom was Douglas Black. Black  later became President of the Royal College of Physicians, 1977-83 and authored the Black Report on inequalities which pissed Thatcher off so much. Although Platt’s first wife Muriel had been a psychiatrist, Platt tried to persuade Rawnsley not to go into psychiatry because it simply wasn’t considered an option for capable people.

Rawnsley nonetheless pursued psychiatric training at Manchester’s Academic Dept of Psychiatry under Professor Edward Anderson. Anderson had spent the early part of his career in Germany and was influenced by Kurt Schneider and Karl Jaspers. Anderson been taught in the tradition of European psychological phenomenology and as well as in the psychology of Adolf Meyer. He had also worked as a consultant at the Maudsley.

Others who worked in Anderson’s team whom Rawnsley knew included: William Trethowan who was at that time a lecturer; Jack Kenna, a lecturer in clinical psychology; May Irvine, a lecturer in psychiatric social work; Lawton Tonge, a registrar.

William Trethowan became a very senior figure in psychiatry. His father had been an orthopaedic surgeon at Guys and died when Trethowan was 16. After his father’s death, Trethowan’s mother enrolled as  medical student – Trethowan and his mother graduated on the same day.

Trethowan went to Oundle School and then Clare College, Cambridge. At Cambridge he was musical director of Footlights. Trethowan graduated from Guys in 1943 and married the actress Pam Waters. After service in the RAMC, he worked as  psychiatric registrar at the Maudsley, 1948-50. Trethowan then spent a year as a psychiatric resident in Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard and spent the years 1951-56 as a lecturer and then senior lecturer at Manchester University, where Rawnsley got to know him. Trethowan was appointed Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Sydney in 1956. In 1962 he returned to the UK as Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Birmingham after being head hunted, where he remained until he retired in 1982. Trethowan spent 8 years as the Dean of Medicine at Birmingham. Whilst at Birmingham Trethowan was a colleague of Robert Bluglass who concealed the criminality of the north Wales mental health services in 1988, more of which later on in this post.

Trethowan was an advisor in psychiatry to the DHSS, 1964-78 and Chaired the Standing Mental Health Advisory Committee, 1968-74. He Chaired the Advisory Committee which was set up to establish the Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1976-86.

Trethowan’s  obituary stated that he did much to improve standards in psychiatry and ‘worked both in committee and behind the scenes to ensure that the new college [Royal College of Psychiatrists] would reach the highest standards of professional excellence’. Just how successful Trethowan was in this we shall soon see. Trethowan was the first Chief Examiner of the Royal College and ‘almost single-handedly’ set up the exam for membership.

Trethowan was a member of the GMC and for a while its Treasurer. Trethowan was a member of the GMC panel who in 1970 allowed the paedophile child psychiatrist Dr Morris Fraser to continue to practice. Fraser was later convicted of child sexual abuse. The GMC legal officer for the case was Sir Patrick Mayhew, who years later in his capacity as Attorney General authorised two prosecutions against me for contempt of court on the basis of the perjury of members of staff employed by the north Wales mental health services.

Mayhew was Secretary of State for N Ireland, 1992-97. He was appointed days before that petrol bomb killed five witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal (see post ‘The Silence of the Welsh Lambs’). Whilst in post, Mayhew was one of many who concealed the abuse scandal at the Kincora Boys Home in Belfast, which was said to involve members of the British Army as well as Whitehall figures. Morris Fraser was involved with Kincora.

In the 1970s Jack Kenna who was then based at Gaskell House at Manchester Royal Infirmary worked with psychiatrist Professor David Goldberg at Withington Hospital on gender reassignment. They only treated a very small number of people and were consistent with most of their peers in viewing gender reassignment cases as rare interesting specimens.

William Lawton Tonge was a psychiatrist who graduated from Manchester University in 1948. He worked at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Holloway Sanatorium and then was appointed registrar to the dept of psychiatry at Manchester Royal Infirmary in 1951. Tonge worked at the MRC Unit for Research into Social Psychiatry and was then appointed consultant psychiatrist at Sheffield Royal Infirmary.

Tonge was Deputy Medical Superintendent of the private Cheadle Royal Hospital near Manchester and a member of the Society for the Study of Addiction.

Tonge carried out a lot of work on ‘problem families’ in which he sought to identify a common psychological maladjustment in such families whose principal problem was poverty.

There is a Lawton Tonge House in Sheffield which houses Sheffield MIND – but then MIND named one of their buildings William Bingley House.

Rawnsley remembered Anderson’s ‘deep rooted humanity and compassion’. Yet in an interview with Brian Barraclough published in the Psychiatric Bulletin in 1988, Rawnsley clearly stated that although Anderson was interested in phenomenological formulation and diagnosis, ‘treatment was not high on the agenda’ – indeed that Anderson was  a ‘therapeutic nihilist’. Anderson had been appointed as the first Professor of Psychiatry at Manchester in 1949, when Manchester was a ‘psychiatric wilderness’. By 1951 Anderson was using ECT, leucotomy, insulin coma and modified insulin therapy, but he had no ‘modern psychotropic drugs’. Rawnsley stated that in Anderson’s dept the only ‘psychotherapy in vogue was supportive therapy…valuable in the management of chronic personality problems’.

The notion of ‘chronic personality problems’ is a favourite one of particularly abusive Top Doctors. Dafydd, Tony Francis, Neil Davies and Tony Roberts found their clinics heaving with patients with chronic personality problems, as I’m sure did those concealing their wrongdoing at St George’s Hospital Medical School and Springfield Hospital. These were the patients who had dared question them or even complain who then found themselves threatened, abused and finally refused treatment. Some of these patients had no problems in their relationships with the rest of the world and some managed to have successful careers and families. The only people with whom they had problems were the Top Doctors and they were therefore deemed to have chronic personality problems.

It is clear from Rawnsley’s interview with Barraclough that Anderson and indeed Rawnsley himself did not view patients as people to be helped. They were there to be experimented upon by these men of science – who were not actually accepted as being men of science in any way by other men of science like Robert Platt. Rawnsley mentions that there was no hospital attached to the Academic Unit at Manchester, just a small number of beds – where the patients were shocked and lobotomised and put into comas. Anderson et al had some beds at the private Cheadle Royal Hospital and I suspect that was where the psychotherapy for those with chronic personality problems took place. God help you if you were one of the NHS patients, it was medical experiments and psychosurgery for you.

Anderson and Rawnsley gave some patients LSD ‘not because we thought it would do them any good but we wanted to see whether a schizophrenic patient could distinguish between the disturbances produced by LSD and the endogenous disturbance’.  Anderson and Rawnsley published the results, although Rawnsley admitted to Barraclough that giving patients LSD was   ‘on reflection’ ‘not a good thing to do’. I very much doubt that he ever fessed that up to the patients whom he’d dosed.

Rawnsley and Anderson took LSD themselves – it was very new, having only been synthesized by Hofman in 1943 – because ‘it sounded interesting’. Others in their dept took it as well, including Bob Mowbray a clinical psychologist, Dr Paul Scott and the departmental secretary Doris Bee. Not that this was a problem – there was huge interest in LSD at the time, no-one had ever come across anything like it and of course curious people would have given it a go, I certainly would have. What interests me is that Rawnsley and co all described stereotypical acid trips which then ended very badly and decided ‘never again’ – Brian Barraclough also admitted to trying LSD but concluding that it was dangerous – but Rawnsley and Anderson then gave it to patients regardless to see what would happen. Rawnsley was not a man bothered by self doubt – if he had decided ‘on reflection’ that giving patients LSD had not been a good idea, it was probably because he’d done them great damage.

Rawnsley also took mescaline and was in contact with Dr Joel Elkes. Joel Elkes ran a unit Birmingham University in which he experimented extensively with LSD. The treatment unit was established in 1958 at Potwick Hospital in Worcestershire. Over the next 10 years more than 15,000 doses of LSD were given to some 900 patients. Joel Elkes was involved in the CIA ‘mind control’ experiments with US doctors such as Lauretta Bender. Bender was responsible for some serious atrocities such as subjecting children as young as five and six to LSD experiments and ECT without anaesthetic or muscle relaxants which resulted in fractured vertebrae. One child who was the subject of the CIA experiments lived to tale the tale and qualified as an attorney when she was an adult. She tried to publish an account of what had been done to her and was told by the CIA that her career would be ended if she did. She later published under a pseudonym. Elkes also had links to the Pentagon as well as to MI6. It has been alleged that Potwick was partly funded by the CIA, MI6 and the Macy Foundation – somehow Elkes raised $75,000 over ten years to help run it. Elke’s Birmingham University unit was founded with a $84,000 Rockefeller grant and the local Health Authority paid for its upkeep and running costs. Years later there were a number of successful court cases against Potwick Hospital brought by patients who had been the subjects of experimentation. In 1968 Potwick Hospital was the star of a World In Action investigative documentary revealing appalling abuse and neglect of elderly patients. The scandal led to Potwick being the first institution to be selected for closure under the community care programme – the last patients were discharged from Potwick in 1989.

Kenneth Rawnsley left the Manchester University dept in 1953 and Anderson left in 1965. Anderson moved to Sussex and became a Lord Chancellor’s visitor.

In 1954 Rawnsley went to work at the Maudsley, where he joined Dr Denis Leigh in the Psychotherapy Unit. It might have been a psychotherapy unit but on his first day Rawnsley was sent by Leigh to a mortuary in the East End of London to collect the brain of one of Leigh’s patients whom Leigh had heard had died. Rawnsley was dispatched with a biscuit tin in which to transport the brain and ended up having a ‘tussle with the pathologist’ who did not want to hand it over. Rawnsley won the fight over the brain and it was taken to the Maudsley by Rawnsley via a tram journey, obviously without the knowledge of the relatives of the person whose brain it was.

Denis Leigh went to Hulme Grammar School and qualified at Manchester University in 1939. He then worked as  a house surgeon to Geoffrey Jefferson, a leading neurosurgeon. During World War II Leigh was a regimental medical officer after which he specialised in neurology. Leigh worked at the Oxford Head Injury Centre and also worked as an advisor in neurology in the Eastern Army in India. Leigh retained his links to the British Army and was an honorary consultant to the Army until 1980.

After demobilisation Leigh worked in the neurology dept of the London Hospital with Lord Brain and George Redditch.

Leigh then spent 18 months as a registrar at the Maudsley where he trained with Eric Huffman and C. P. Blacker. Carl Blacker was involved in a bizarre plan to inseminate a patient with the sperm of King George VI – see post ‘The King’s Sperm’. Leigh followed that up with one year at Harvard as a Clinical Fellow.

Leigh did not have a qualification in psychiatry, he called himself a consultant physician and always wore a white coat at work.

In 1948 Leigh became a consultant at the Bethlem Royal and Maudsley Hospitals. He was a Governor of the Maudsley and Chair of the Medical Committee there.

Denis Leigh was yet another person with an interest in psychosomatic medicine and he published with Ted Marley on psychosomatic aspects of bronchial asthma. Leigh also translated a volume concerning psychosomatic methods in painless childbirth. If one has the sort of asthma or birth that can be managed by psychological efforts this sort of work is very helpful but I suspect that if one didn’t Dr Leigh would resort to shouting accusations about malingering.

Leigh was also constructed as a forensic and medico-legal expert. He ran a big Harley Street pratice and worked as an expert witness in personal injury claims before the civil courts until just before he died in 1988.

Denis Leigh was someone who as an ‘independent psychiatrist’ assessed accused prisoners in the late 1950s/early 1960s and one of those assessed by Leigh was Guentha Podola in 1959. Podola was accused of murdering a policeman. Not only did Podola maintain that  he suffered from amnesia and had no memory of the alleged murder, but there were allegations that the policeman had assaulted Podola. Leigh gave evidence that Podola was feigning amnesia and Podola was hung.

Denis Leigh also gave evidence for the prosecution in the Lady Chatterley’s Lover trial, but the failure of that prosecution was blamed on the mad old barrister Mervyn Griffiths-Jones rather than the mad old expert witness.

Leigh gave evidence in support of the civil case brought by IRA suspect Sean McKenna. In 1971 McKenna was one of the ‘hooded men’ who was interned and tortured by the RUC Special Branch under the instructions of the British Army as part  of Operation Demetrius. Lord Carrington, the Secretary of State for Defence in Heath’s Gov’t, knew about the torture of IRA suspects and supported it, just as he and others knew about the abuse of children in the Kincora Boys Home in Belfast by Whitehall figures and members of the British Army and concealed it.

Sean McKenna brought a civil claim and in 1975 at he request of the Crown Solicitors Leigh examined McKenna. Leigh agreed that at the time of his torture McKenna had a pre-existing heart condition which was known about and that McKenna’s torture at the hands of the RUC had caused him serious damage. McKenna died days after being examined by Leigh. The Pat Finucane Centre holds documents relating to this case and there is the letter that Leigh wrote to an S. Noel Rea Esq at the Chief Counsel’s Office at the Royal Courts of Justice (Ulster). Leigh mentions that McKenna died days after he examined him and that how fortunate it was for Leigh that McKenna hadn’t died just a couple of days previously within hours of Leigh having seen him.

In 2015 The Irish Times carried a news article stating that the human rights lawyer Amal Clooney was part of a team led by Ben Emerson QC who were hoping to re-open the case of McKenna and the other hooded men. Amal Clooney works at Doughty Street Chambers, as does Helena Kennedy.

Kennedy has used the services of Professor Nigel Eastman at St George’s Hospital Medical School for many of her cases and she acknowledges him in one of her books (see post ‘Eve Was Framed – As Were A Lot Of Other People’). Eastman was one of those who was faced with evidence of Dafydd’s criminality in 1991 but who remained silent. Kennedy was involved with the charity WISH (Women In Special Hospitals) and undoubtedly knew that some of the women in those places had been abused as children in care and whilst in the mental health system but did not say a word, even when Jimmy Savile was put in charge of Broadmoor. Kennedy was also involved with the case of Emma Humphreys who died shortly after being released from prison on appeal when represented by Kennedy. Emma died in inexplicable circumstances about which Kennedy has also remained quiet.

Theodore Huckle also works at Doughty Street. Whilst Theo was Counsel General for Wales he was given access to all the documents now in my posession which contain written evidence of serious criminal activities on the part of Top Doctors, Angels, NHS managers, the social services, probation officers, police officers, lawyers, judges, the Mental Health Act Commission and others. Theo made no comment about any of it and stated that there was no evidence that I had ever been treated negligently (see post ‘Theo Huckle QC’).

Ben Emerson QC is one of the barristers who resigned from IICSA (the Independent Inquiry Into Child Sexual Abuse) after allegations of unacceptable conduct were made against him.

The National Archives also holds a report compiled by Denis Leigh which is embargoed for decades to come – there is no indication as to what this report is about.

It is highly likely that as well as knowing Dafydd from the Maudsley that Denis Leigh knew the neurosurgeon Sir Charles Evans, who later became Principal of UCNW (Bangor University). Evans trained in neurosurgery at Oxford and neurosurgery is a small and exclusive business. Evans was just three years younger than Leigh. When Evans ran UCNW he employed the paedophiles’ friends as social work and clinical psychology tutors, used the services of Gwynne the lobotomist and the corrupt GP David Wood in the Student Health Centre and allowed Dafydd to dictate what went on in the psychology dept (see ‘A Bit More Paleontology’).

Sir Charles Evans was a member of the team which conquered Everest in 1953 – the leader of the team was John Hunt. John Hunt spent his career in Military Intelligence and wrote the Hunt Report as  result of his advisory work on policing in N Ireland. The Hunt Report recommended the creation of a military reserve – the result was the UDR which was infiltrated by paramilitaries who accessed weapons to murder Catholics.

Volunteers for the UDR were vetted by British Army Intelligence and the RUC Special Branch. The security services will have known which UDR volunteers were murderers, in exactly the same way that they knew that Jimmy Savile was a paedophile, as was Sir Peter Morrison and that Dafydd and co were running a paedophile gang. It has been acknowledged that there was a policy to kill members of the IRA anyway and no doubt Dafydd and his atrocities were concealed on the basis of a Lord Denning argument – that this is so bad we must not admit that it’s going on. Which is not a sensible approach to take towards someone like Dafydd, it wasn’t as if he was going to stop running a crime empire or go away.

That will be how Dafydd was propped up by the Army and the security services.

Leigh was Secretary General of the World Psychiatric Association, 1966-78 and opposed many of his colleagues in arguing against the expulsion of the Soviet Union from the WPA on the grounds of political dissidents in the USSR being held in mental hospitals.

One of Leigh’s colleagues remembered that Leigh’ s guiding principal was that ‘ethics must guide all we do in psychiatry’. Denis’s Royal College of Psychiatrists obituary – written by a Peter Noble – stated that it would be for ‘his warmth and kindness as a doctor and teacher that he will be most fondly remembered’.

Denis had a son, Nigel, who inherited Denis’s propensity to be  a Top Doctor. Professor Nigel Leigh is the Professor of Neurology at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. Nigel studied medicine at the London Hospital and subsequently worked at the institutions who for years did a fine job of concealing the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends – Southampton University Medical School, St George’s and the Atkinson Morley. In 1989 Nigel Leigh bagged the Chair in Clinical Neurology at the Institute of Psychiatry. He was also honorary consultant at King’ s College Hospitals NHS Trust and the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. In 1990 Nigel Leigh set up one of the first multi-professional clinics within the NHS for MND (motor neurone disease) offering both medical treatment and therapies on an outpatients basis.

In 2008 BBC News reported that Nigel Leigh’s team were researching the use of lithium for the treatment of MND. Nigel Leigh and Professor Steve Field the then President of the Royal College of General Practitioners stressed that lithium was very toxic, had serious side effects such as kidney damage and that patients mustn’t just try it out for themselves outside of the clinical trial.

At the Hergest Unit patients with a variety of diagnoses were liberally prescribed lithium. Yes, it was explained that lithium was toxic and therefore patients would need regular blood tests to ensure the level of lithium in their blood wasn’t reaching a dangerous level. However, the results often weren’t returned from the labs but the prescribing simply continued regardless. Furthermore the labs at Ysbyty Gwynedd were in chaos anyway, so no-one could ever have been certain what anybody’s lithium levels were. The patients were all at risk and the Top Doctors knew it.

Ted Marley was also a member of Denis Leigh’s team whilst Rawnsley worked there. I have found one reference to Ted Marley being involved with sex therapy but apart from that he left no trace behind him.

Among all the grandiose pompousing, Rawnsley observed that at the Maudsley there was a ‘feeling of uneasiness and uncertainty among many of the trainees…level of information coming out of the ‘oracles’ was not terribly high. People didn’t know what their future was going to be. And they worried about it’.

  • I have heard this again and again from people in medicine. Students in the early years of medical school imagine that the day that they qualify will mean the end of the crap, but as a friend of mine from school told me when she was in her first year as a house officer, it is just the beginning. That friend studied medicine at Cardiff. She told me that none of the students wanted to go into psychiatry after having completed their psych block and that none of them wanted placements in north Wales for anything because the stories about medical practice in north Wales – particularly Bangor- from returning students were just so grim. Junior doctors are retained on short term contracts and are entirely dependent upon the reference from their last boss for their next job. One step out of line and they are finished – they all know it. If you are a student or junior doctor and you find out that someone is shagging and killing their patients or running a paedophile ring, you just stay well away. When I worked at St George’s I noticed that the other doctors and medical students had a very low opinion of the psychiatrists at Springfield  – they were deemed to be mad and incompetent…

Rawnsley spent six months bonding with Denis Leigh and very probably Dafydd himself because Dafydd did a stint training as a ‘psychotherapist’ at the Maudsley at the knee of Dr Bob Hobson and it will have been in the late 50s or early 60s. Bob Hobson’s right hand man at the Maudsley Russell Meares has written much about borderline personality disorder and is now a leading light at the University of Sydney in Australia. What Bob Hobson and Russell Meares turned a blind eye to with regard to their two ‘trainees’ Dafydd and Tony Francis was so bad that there will be a blog post special on Hobson and Meares coming soon. You should have raised the alarm Meares and you know it. After Rawnsley spent a short time working with the silly fuckers who unleashed two quite deranged criminals onto north Wales, he moved to the Professorial Unit at the Maudsley to work with David Davies.

David Davies was the Dean of the Institute of Psychiatry/Maudsley, 1950-66. Davies went to St John’s College Oxford and then did his clinical training at Manchester, qualifying in 1936. He spent some time in the RAMC, arrived at the Maudsley in 1946 and remained there until his retirement in 1976. Davies’s obituaries described him as having been crucially involved with the fortunes of the Bethlem Royal and the Maudsley Hospitals and with the post-war development of the Institute of Psychiatry. He was a consultant at the joint hospitals from 1946. We are told that Davies turned Aubrey Lewis’s ‘vision of a centre of excellence into a reality’ and that Lewis had ‘an ideal of eclectic scholarship and insistence on high standards of patient care’.

Davies carried out work on alcoholism and in 1962 his ‘international reputation in this field was borne overnight’ when Davies published a short paper on seven alcohol addicts who all allegedly returned to normal drinking. This was a ‘revolutionary claim’ because until then it had been believed that ‘once an alcoholic always an alcoholic’. There was a snag though. Not only did subsequent research suggest that some of Davies’ s findings ‘were faulty’ but not all of his sample were alcohol dependent.

So Davies drew erroneous conclusions from a sample of seven some of whom didn’t fit the sampling criteria – thus was his international reputation established overnight. That sounds to me sufficient grounds to fail a Bachelor’s degree, rather than to establish an international reputation.

On the basis of his international reputation, Davies then set up the Alcohol Education Centre – that was for reasons unexplained ‘short lived’ – and became the President of the Society for the Study of Addiction as well as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Addiction.

When Dafydd set up CAIS in 1977 he stated that CAIS wasn’t about promoting abstinence, it was about normal drinking. I just presumed that was Dafydd’s excuse to carry on boozing – he was widely reputed to be an alcoholic – but obviously Dafydd was taking his cue from the centre of excellence and those with international reputations.

Don’t AA still say ‘once an alcoholic always an alcoholic’?

There is a telling anecdote related by Professor Norman Kreitman in his interview with David Tait published in the Psychiatric Bulletin in 1995. When Kreitman was a young man considering a career in psychiatry he wrote to Davies when Davies was the Dean at the Maudsley. Davies invited him to drop in and visit so Kreitman did. After a brief discussion Davies asked Kreitman if he’d like to meet one of the consultants. Kreitman said yes and spent an hour discussing the state of West End Theatre with him and then left. Days later Kreitman was surprised to receive a letter telling him that he’d been accepted and would be starting in two weeks.

Dafydd ‘trained’ at the Maudsley whilst Davies was Dean so presumably was subjected to a similarly gruelling selection process.

Kreitman mentioned that the Alcohol and Research Council was set up in 1982 and that the group awarding the research grants weren’t research experts. I expect that Dafydd got a grant out of them.

One of the people who Norman Kreitman worked with was Peter Sainsbury. Sainsbury’s research interest was suicide. Sainsbury worked as a registrar at the Maudsley and then worked at the Institute for Psychiatry, 1949-54. Sainsbury completed his MD in 1955 on suicide in London and in 1957 became the Director of the MRC Clinical Psychiatry Research Unit at Graylingwell Hospital, Chichester. Sainsbury noticed the high suicide rate among psychiatric patients. He became an advisor to WHO and served on MRC committees, including one on the epidemiology of drug dependency, 1967-69 and on a working party on parasuicide, 1980-82.

Sainsbury was visiting Chair at the University of Queensland in 1972. He was Chair of the Royal College’s Committee on the Political Abuse of Psychiatry, 1978-87 and he interviewed exiled dissidents. Sainsbury should have nipped up to north Wales to interview Mary Wynch, me and all the other people that his former colleague Dafydd had illegally imprisoned during those years.

Sainsbury trained at the Middlesex Hospital just before the creation of the NHS and like Ed Miliband’s Uncle Harry (see post ‘Inside Information About A Hergest Unit Death’) he remained committed to the NHS throughout his life. Sainsbury had a big passion for achitecture and gardens and he purchased a sizable piece of land and created a extensive landscaped garden and a unique house which were his pride and joy. The patients carried on kiling themselves.

The senior registrar on Davies’s team was Michael Shepherd, who ended up achieving huge international influence in psychiatry as described in my post ‘The Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Connection?’.

Rawnsley had been working in Davies’s Unit for three months  when he was asked by Aubrey Lewis if he would join the MRC Unit run by Lewis. This unit was framed as a ‘social psychiatry research’ unit but this is Aubrey Lewis that we are talking about here. Lewis’s work in that Unit began by investigating what sort of work was suitable for the mentally ill and whether people with what was then called mental handicap were capable of learning and whether they could work as well. I doubt that Aubrey concerned himself with the niceties of the patients gaining fulfilment from that work, it will have been a case of ‘Work Will Set You Free’.

Aubrey’s Assistant Director of Auschwitz was Morris Carstairs. Carstairs was Professor of Psychological Medicine at Edinburgh University, 1961-73 and President of WHO, 1968-72. He was born in the Indian Raj and qualified at Edinburgh University in 1949. Carstairs was a medical officer in the RAF during World War II and in 1953 was appointed senior registrar to Aubrey Lewis at the Maudsley. In 1960 he became the head of the new MRC Unit at UCL concerned with psychiatric epidemiology. Carstairs relocated to Edinburgh in 1961 and the Unit relocated with him. In 1971 he stood down as Director of the Unit.

Between 1973-78 Carstairs was Vice-Chancellor of York University and there seems to have been much trouble on his watch. This was a time of student protests but Carstairs seemed to have handled things very badly. Such was the hostility towards him that not only was he unable to expand the University as planned but after he stepped down as VC he was unable to return to academia, which suggests that something quite cataclysmic happened but I haven’t yet found out what it was.

It seems to have been whilst Carstairs was VC that York University spawned a very extreme Conservative students society some of whose members were later alleged to have been politicians involved in child abuse, including Harvey Proctor and Michael Brown. Christine Hamilton was also at York with that crowd.

Laurie Taylor worked at York University with criminologist Stan Cohen and it was when they were at York that they carried out their work on long term prisoners. Taylor also worked with sex offenders and with John McVicar, the former bank robber who became a writer. I’m fairly sure that Taylor is friends with Dick Hobbs the criminologist whose ethnographic work involved knowing a great deal about serious organised crime. Hobbs was mates with the criminologist Jane Morgan, the wife of Kenneth Morgan, Labour Party bigwig and former Principal of Aberystwyth University whilst Aber was doing a great deal to assist the paedophile gang of north Wales including churning out crooked lawyers who advised them (see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’).

Before Taylor worked at York he completed one of his degrees at Leicester University – many of whose staff knew about the abuse of kids in care in Leicestershire by the paedophile gang which included Frank Beck and Greville Janner (see post ‘Radical Leicester And Some Other Free Radicals’).

Taylor’s first wife was Anna Coote who was an executive member of the NCCL whilst the NCCL was affiliated to PIE. Coote also worked with women who had experienced sexual abuse and domestic violence. As I keep repeating, it is not possible to do that kind of work and not find out about the wrongdoing of the Top Doctors and their associates in social work. Coote was Director of the King’s Fund, 1998-2004 and then joined the Healthcare Commission ‘to engage patients and the public’. She is now head  of social policy for the New Economics Foundation.

Laurie Taylor’s third wife was BBC radio producer Cathie Mahon, who was a Director of the IPPR, as was Taylor’s son Matthew. In 2005 Matthew Taylor was appointed head of No 10’s Policy Unit by Blair. In Oct 2016 Theresa May appointed Matthew Taylor Chair of the Review of Modern Employment, which resulted in the 2017 Taylor Review.

I am wondering whether the notorious high security Carstairs Hospital in Scotland, the scene of murders and other grisly deeds, was named after Morris Carstairs, although I haven’t found any information about that. They are probably both such an embarrassment that they have disowned each other.

Lawton Tonge was employed in the concentration camp, as were Jack Tizard, Neil O’Connor, Peter Venables and Jacqueline Grad.

Whilst Rawnsley was at Auschwitz, George Brown was recruited and John Wing arrived in 1957 as Rawnsley left.

Unlike many of these names dropped by Rawnsley, George W. Brown completed a substantial body of work. He was a psychologist who came from a very much less privileged background than most of his colleagues – his father was a lens maker and his mother was a waitress. George Brown went to UCL in the early 1950s and studied social sciences. Some years after graduation Brown began working in the MRC Unit at the Maudsley and whilst there worked on chronic schizophrenia. In the late 1960s Brown took up a post at the Social Research Unit at Bedford College, University of London and eventually became joint Director. It was here that Brown carried out the work for which he became very well known, his work on life events and depression. Brown carried out longitudinal studies and explored the lives of his patients in detail. He ran a big comparative study looking at the life events of people with depression in Islington, the Outer Hebrides, Spain and Zimbabwe, the results of which he published with Tirril Harris in 1989. So George Brown studied the life events of people with depression in Islington throughout the 70s and 80s. George Brown will have definitely known about the paedophile ring that operated in the children’s homes there.

John Wing became Professor John Wing and after his death in 2010 was inevitably described as ‘one of the greats of 20th century British and World psychiatry’. John Wing studied medicine at UCL in the 1950s as did his wife Lorna, who also became a psychiatrist and worked at the Maudsley. John Wing was Director of the MRC Unit for 25 years. Various people who also became big names in psychiatry worked for John Wing at the MRC Unit, including Dinesh Bhugra. Whilst Dinesh Bhugra was President of the Royal College he was a Patron of Mark Williams’s Oxford Mindfulness Centre, which was based on the research fraud that Mark Williams had perpetrated when he worked in Bangor with the paedophiles’ friends in the late 1980s (see post ‘The Biggest Expert Of The Lot’).

When Wing retired in 1989 the Royal College of Psychiatrists appointed him as the first Director of the College’s Research Unit.

In 1956 the Wings had a daughter, Susan. Susan was very different to other babies but she was three by the time that the Wings realised that she had autism and that was only because John Wing happened to attend a lecture on autism and recognised his daughter’s symptoms. Years later Lorna Wing would explain in interviews that they had not known what was wrong with Susan because they hadn’t had any lectures on autism at the Maudsley. These were two psychiatrists working at what they all maintained was the world’s leading psychiatric hospital in terms of research and teaching and they were clueless about their own child. They didn’t seen to have done any reading or research themselves regarding their daughter’s difficulties and they obviously weren’t offered any advice by the global leaders who surrounded them at work.

To her credit, Lorna Wing then devoted much of her time to organising support for autistic people because she found that there wasn’t any. She also developed an interest in autism – it was Lorna Wing who coined the phrase Aspergers Syndrome. However it is clear that with their own child the Wings found themselves in the same situation as their patients – faced with clueless uninterested doctors who were not going to offer any support even in the event of serious disability.

It sums up the Maudsley. I have now read numerous interviews with that merry bunch and read some of their work. They spend pages emphasising how eminent they all are, how classic their papers are and how their work transformed the landscape but the reality was that much of their research was flaky, they actually weren’t very good and no-one else in medicine took them seriously. A lot of these Top Doctors were from privileged backgrounds and what they did excel at was blaming less privileged people for their own problems. The differences in lifestyles were huge – every interview, every obituary, every light hearted anecdote is laden with references to the Top Doctors enjoyment of theatre, of opera, of fine wines, of good food and foreign travel, whereas the poverty of their seriously ill patients is taken to be a personal and moral failing. Furthermore they repeatedly ignored or colluded with professionals abusing their positions.

Lorna Wing worked on a dataset called the Camberwell Case Register with others from the Maudsley, including Judith Gould. The Camberwell Case Register collected heaps of information on all the patients using psychiatric services in south London and in 1977 Wing and Gould trawled through the data in detail. A lot of those patients will have been the victims of the paedophile ring that operated in Lambeth’s children’s homes. People at the Maudsley knew about that – particularly a social worker at the Maudsley called Tessa Jowell who had also worked as a child care officer in Lambeth.

Another person who studied at the knee of John Wing was Terry Brugha who was a researcher with the MRC Unit, then a lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry 1980-87.  Brugha then took up a post at the University of Leicester. Where at that time people in the University of Leicester were concealing the appalling abuse of Frank Beck and Greville Janner (see post ‘Radical Leicester And Some Other Free Radicals’) and the psychiatrist Dr James Earp concealed the wrongdoing of Dafydd et al (see post ‘An Expert From England’). Between 1995-97 Brugha was a senior medical officer at the Dept of Health in London – just when the Waterhouse Tribunal was organised and started. Terry Brugha is now the Professor of Psychiatry at Leicester.

Aubrey Lewis had encouraged Rawnsley to go abroad before working in Auschwitz. Rawnsley made contact with the Bureau of Applied Social Research in Columbia University, the Director of which was Charles Glock. As a result, Rawnsley ‘fell in’ with a key figure in the Millbank Memorial Fund who ‘gave advice’ to Rawnsley, after which Rawnsley  ‘worked out a deal’ with Prof Alexander Leighton, from Cornell University. As a result Rawnsley took part in epidemiological field work that Leighton was carrying out in Nova Scotia.

Whilst Rawnsley was working in the camp, Archie Cochrane, an epidemiologist working in south Wales, visited the Maudsley and offered folk at the Maudsley access to ‘his’ communities in south Wales.

Archie Cochrane is known as ‘the father of evidence-based medicine’. He went to King’s College Cambridge and qualified from UCL in 1938. Cochrane underwent analysis himself under Theodor Reik but became disillusioned with analysis. He fought in the Spanish Civil War and was a medical officer in the PoW camps in World War II after he was taken prisoner himself. Cochrane was appointed to the MRC’s pneumonococciosis unit at Llandough Hospital – which later became part of Cardiff Medical School – in 1948. He ran randomised controlled trials in Rhondda Fach and was the first person to promote the value of such trials.

In 1960 Cochrane became a Prof at the Welsh National School of Medicine and in 1969 was appointed Director of the MRC’s Epidemiological Research Unit in Cardiff. In 1971 Cochrane co-authored with Walter Holland a classic paper on the validation of medical screening procedures. In 1971 Cochrane also published a book which was very critical of NHS clinicians who fail to carry out randomised controlled trials or who did so and then ignored the results.

In 1978 Archie really caused a stir by showing a positive correlation between the prevalance of Top Doctors and mortality in younger age groups. He also demonstrated that GNP per head was the one variable which showed a strong negative association with mortality.

The Archie Cochrane Archive is held at the Archie Cochrane Library at Cardiff University. Cochrane is remembered as being a towering figure who demonstrated the importance of the fundamentals of good clinical science – yet everybody ignores what he said. Interventions are still introduced into NHS practice on the flimsiest of evidence without ever having been subjected to a randomised controlled trial – vaginal meshes anyone? – and medical researchers in the NHS and in pharmaceutical companies are past masters at ignoring the results of randomised controlled trials if the trials don’t behave themselves and produce the desired results. At present the NHS is running a number of screening programmes that are at best ineffective and at worst harmful. This is no secret, but still kits arrive through people’s letter boxes imploring older people to return samples of their turds through the post with the threat of death from bowel cancer if they fail to do this and a valiant effort is being made to frighten men into Going To The Doctors to be screened and then have benign enlarged prostates treated as though they are malignant.

One person who ignored everything that Archie Cochrane taught was Kenneth Rawnsley.

Morris Carstairs and George Brown went to south Wales to do the recce at Archie’s invitation and a contingent from the Maudsley subsequently inflicted themselves upon south Wales. Thus in 1957 a research team in Cardiff sprang up consisting of Rawnsley, Joe Loudon, Lewis Miles, Jack Ingham and Jim Robinson. All of these people remained obscure except for Joe Loudon who became a Professor at Swansea.

Aubrey Lewis was the Honorary Director of the MRC Unit in south Wales and Rawnsley became the head of the Unit. Rawnsley carried out psychiatric morbidity studies in south Wales, which compared the mental health of the mining population of the Rhonda Fach with the rural population of the Vale of Glamorgan. Rawnsley seems to gave drawn some extraordinary conclusions from these studies. Rawnsley had a ‘special interest’ in psychosomatic medicine. Such an interest can led to insightful sympathetic exploration of patients’ problems  but I don’t think that it did with Rawnsley. Instead Rawnsley observed that people in the mining communities complained a great deal about bad backs, about aches and pains and other health problems, whereas people in the Vale of Glamorgan didn’t. Thus Rawnsley concluded that the south Wales mining communities had different social attitudes to health problems that resulted in a higher rate of ‘psychiatric problems’ than among the population of the Vale of Glamorgan. It clearly had nothing to do with the poverty and poor living conditions in the Rhondda or the people being employed in one of the most dangerous industries in the UK. It was just that lot bellyaching about imagined aches and pains.

Rawnsley also showed his sensitive side in 1961 when he worked with a community of people from Tristan da Cuna who had been evacuated to Calshot near Southampton after the volcanic eruption. The Tristans were an example of an isolated community – there had been no inward migration into the community for generations, so the MRC studied them ‘from all angles’ when they arrived in England. Rawnsley later commented that the Tristans were very co-operative with his research but that was because their experiences of the other MRC researchers had been so bad. One person working for the MRC had ‘insisted on photographing them naked against a scale for their physical anthropometry – a terrible thing to do they said’.

Ken didn’t measure the Tristans naked, he studied the prevalence of ‘hysteria’ among them by comparing their hysterical symptoms with the information documented from a Norwegian study 25 years previously. Ken’s conclusion re the Tristans? They displayed ‘a powerful example of the pathogenic and pathoplastic nature of social factors in neurosis’, provided an example of a ‘grand hysterie’ and ‘it was the wives of the leaders who had a hypersensitivity to neurosis which raised the question of assortative mating of leaders with neurotic women, or whether being married to a leader is pathogenic’.

Ken might as well have measured them naked.

Ken remembered that the Tristans ‘didn’t like it at Calshot’ and they ‘went home’.

John Wing became head of the MRC Unit when Rawnsley was appointed to the first Chair of Psychological Medicine at the Welsh National School of Medicine (Cardiff Medical School) in 1964, Rawnsley being a man with a nuanced understanding of the problems of the people of south Wales particularly those bastards in the Rhondda who never stopped moaning. In 1966 Rawnsley heard no no end of their whinging when the coal tip fell on that school in Aberfan and killed loads of them.

Ken’s colleague Jack Ingham continued the work of the MRC Unit in Edinburgh with Norman Kreitman and Joe Loudon went to work in Swansea University’s Dept of Sociology and Anthropology – the Swansea University that was pretty much run by Rhodri Morgan’s family (see post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’). Lewis Miles popped up to Anglesey to carry out a prevalence study – where Miles could not have failed to have noticed the abuse of kids in care up there and the incarceration of awkward customers in the North Wales Hospital Denbigh, by which time Ken’s old mate Dafydd had finished his training at the Maudsley and was doing whatever he wanted at Denbigh.

Somebody apart from Enoch Powell must have noticed what Dafydd and Gwynne the lobotomist were doing because part of Ken’s remit as Prof at Cardiff was to improve psychiatric services across Wales. Ken felt ‘greatly supported at all times by the psychiatric community in Wales’ so Ken’s demands were obviously not too onerous.

The Welsh Hospital Board – which ran the North Wales Hospital whilst Dafydd and Gwynne lobotomised, shocked, incarcerated and shagged within its walls – appointed Ken as an advisor in psychiatry for Wales. This involved Ken having extensive discussions with the Welsh Hospital Board regarding the planning of psychiatric services for Wales. So there was actually a plan behind what Dafydd and Gwynne were doing…

The official story of Ken’s time as Professor at Cardiff was that he ‘established a vigorous and widely based academic unit closely integrated with the psychiatric services of South Glamorgan, with a special teaching and research unit at Whitchurch Mental Hospital. This last link enabled him to inject new strength into the scientific investigation which had flourished there since the early years of its history as an asylum’.

We are told that Ken ‘showed imaginative foresight in the integration of clinical practice, teaching and research, in the main hospital and local mental hospital’.

Whitchutch Hospital had a terrible reputation until it’s closure in 2016. Pre-Ken it had  been the domain of Linford Rees and his porn pics and Welsh cakes (see post ‘A Galaxy of Talent’). Whitchurch’s claim to fame was as the institution administering the highest rate of ECT in Europe. Tony Francis (Dr X) trained at Ken’s glorious dept in Cardiff and Chris Hunter – whom Francis enlisted in his attempts to bang me up in a high security unit when I didn’t even know that Chris Hunter existed (see post ‘The Night of the (Dr Chris) Hunter’) – worked at Whitchurch Hospital. My friend from the sixth form went to Cardiff to do medicine whilst Ken was Chair of that department and she told me at the time that the students all hated their psychiatry ‘block’ and after having experienced that taster none of them wanted to go into psychiatry. I remember my friend telling me that the male medical students used to be propositioned by the female patients. I wonder where the patients might have got the idea that sex between patients and staff might be a good idea from?

In 1991 Robin Jacobson of St George’s Hospital Medical School/Springfield Hospital documented that Dafydd and Tony Francis had ‘lost their boundaries’ after Dafydd told Jacobson that I was ‘attractive and seductive’ and that he and Tony Francis ‘had a soft spot for me’. Francis was trying to have me imprisoned  at the time on  the basis of the perjury of him and his wife Sadie, who also worked as a psychiatrist at Ysbyty Gwynedd and had previously worked at Denbigh.

Now here’s another mystery. Sadie worked as a clinical assistant at Denbigh. No doctor ever wants a job as a clinical assistant because it is categorised as a non-career post and one can’t gain promotion to a consultant. I’m fairly sure that this is, or at that time was, enshrined in NHS regulations. Yet after her spell as a clinical assistant at Denbigh, Sadie rocked up at Ysbyty Gwynedd as a consultant. Another clinical assistant, the disastrous Quasim Ijaz (see post ‘Update On The Inquest Of Michael Capper – And A Bit Of History’) was also given a job as a consultant psychiatrist at Ysbyty Gwynedd after working as a clinical assistant. He was given Tony Francis’s job after Francis took early retirement and the North West Wales NHS Trust advertised the vacancy three times and received no applications.

Ken was closely involved with  Royal College of Psychiatrists from its creation in 1971 – in 1972 he was elected the first Dean of the College.

Ken waxed lyrical about the establishment of the Royal College in his interview with Brian Barraclough and remembered that the London College of Physicians opposed the idea of a Royal College of Psychiatrists and wanted a Faculty of Psychiatry within the Royal College of Physicians. The Royal College of Surgeons just saw it as an irrelevance.

The Privy Council was involved with the establishment of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and a key figure in the negotiations was Ben Munro, the Secretary of the Royal Medico-Psychological Association

Dr David Owen’s old mate the unhinged and lethal William Sargant (see post ‘Dr Death’) had been the Registrar of the RMPA for years and Munro had been the Secretary. Martin Cuthbert had been the last President of the RMPA, but Martin Roth was elected as the first President of the Royal College. Ken intriguingly reminded Brian Barraclough that if the officers had not been elected by the membership, Roth would never have become President.

From the beginning there had been quarrels over the membership exam and the aggro was such that one person who had been involved with the RMPA at a senior level for years resigned. There was an agreement that psychiatrists already working in the system wouldn’t have to take the Royal College’s exam – so that’ll be how Dafydd clocked up his credentials. The acquisition of the Royal College’s palatial building in Belgrave Square left the Treasurer of the Royal College concerned that the Royal College would go bankrupt.

It was Sir Martin Roth who raised the funding for 17, Belgrave Square and he raised the money from a most unlikely source  – a loan on favourable terms from Marks & Spencer (see post ‘The Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Connection?’). I am mystified as to why Marks & Spencer were happy to bankroll this bunch of conmen – there will have been skulduggery somewhere. Ken mentions that Roth had to ‘go it alone’ where raising the dosh for No 17 was concerned and that Roth also held ‘the long drawn out dialogue with the Department of Health’ that was involved when the Royal College was established. Ken does not reveal what the long drawn out dialogue was about but presumably it was held with Heath’s Health Secretary, Sir Keith Joseph.

I note that the Royal College is no longer located in the Belgrave Square building with which they were so delighted but could not afford.

NHS funding from the DHSS paid for the College to inspect psychiatry training programmes in order to raise standards – so there was obviously some considerable concern in the DHSS about standards.

Ken ‘played a major role in creating the system  for inspection and approval of the quality of clinical and educational facilities in psychiatric hospitals’. So it was the system created by Ken that deemed Dafydd’s ‘therapeutic community’ in the underground chamber at Denbigh acceptable, as well as Dafydd’s training facilities which included Dafydd’s office – to which trainee female clinical psychologists from Bangor University were invited to ‘talk about psychology’. Once they had arrived Dafydd would show them ancient photos of himself and ask ‘Don’t ewe think I was handsome?’. (No Dafydd, the person who told me about this just concluded that you were nuts.)

Ken needed the regional Health Authorities to realise that their clinical standards had to be raised or junior doctors wouldn’t apply for posts – ‘there were appeals, objections and protests’. Nonetheless ‘the great majority of the hospitals were approved’. Including Denbigh. I presume that there was simply no failing Ken’s rigorous criteria.

In the early years of the College, Ken noted that peripheral hospitals feared that they would lose all their staff to academic centres. It was quite clear to me that nearly every junior doctor working in psychiatry in Ysbyty Gwynedd and Denbigh in the mid-late 1980s was just about unemployable. The situation will have been just as bad before then and because everybody – including Ken – lied about standards having been raised, standards remained dangerous and patients died. All that anybody  needed to have done was to stop Dafydd illegally imprisoning people, keeping them in  a cellar and sexually exploiting them but no-one could even do that.

Ken was President of the Royal College, 1981-84 and was elected to succeed Desmond Pond.

In his interview with Brian Barraclough, Ken tells Barraclough that during his term of office, the Mental Health Act was put forward first in the Lords and later in the Commons. Ken explained that the Gov’t – which will have been Thatcher ‘s Gov’t – set up  a special committee to evaluate and modify the Bill where required.

Ken and ‘senior officers’ from the Royal College ‘devoted much time and energy in briefing and educating Peers’. They also gave oral and written evidence before the Commons Committee and ‘succeeded in securing the elimination of the more extreme constraints on clinical freedom’. In other words Rawnsley and chums argued down the measures that concerned MPs had tried to add to the Bill in order to protect patients from the Dafydds of this world. By the time that Ken had ensured that there was bugger all protection for patients in the Bill, Mary Wynch had  begun litigation after being wrongfully arrested and imprisoned for a year by Dafydd (see post ‘The Mary Wynch Case – Details’). Rawnsley knew about this case as did the rest of the officers of the College who argued the toss with the Commons Committee. Someone else knew about the case as well – Professor Robert Bluglass, who wrote the Mental Health Act. Some six years later when appointed to investigate my own complaint, Bluglass covered for Dafydd when Dafydd had illegally had me arrested and imprisoned and completely ignored the fact that three months before Dafydd did that, Tony Francis and Jackie Brandt had unlawfully detained me at Ysbyty Gwynedd (see post ‘Enter Professor Robert Bluglass CBE’). The person who drafted the Code of Practice to accompany the Act was William Bingley, the Legal Director of MIND who had been covering up for Dafydd for years, as had his mother Lady Juliet Bingley when she was Chair of MIND. Bingley continued colluding with and concealing Dafydd’s criminality when he later became Chief Exec of the Mental Health Act Commission.Ken complained to Barraclough that ‘they were struggling against a powerful anti-medicine, anti-scientific prejudice in society and much loud and thoughtless clamour from civil liberties lobbies’. There was the matter of some madmen in north Wales who were unlawfully having people arrested, keeping them in a cellar, having sex with them, drugging them, running a paedophile ring and trafficking female patients into prostitution. Neither were Ken and co accepted as scientists by other branches of medicine – one only went to work for Ken or Dafydd if one’s copy book was blotted so badly that there was no hope left.

At a late stage in the Bill, a Comons member moved an amendment that certain treatments such as psychosurgery had to be subject to a second opinion from the Mental Health Act Commission even if the patient was not liable to be detained. This amendment was accepted by Ken Clarke – the Minister who had set up  the Committee to examine the Bill, under Norman Fowler the Secretary of State for Health – to the ‘amazement’ of Clarke’s advisors. Ken Rawnsley considered this to be a ‘major setback’.

So Rawnsley considered it most unreasonable that he – or indeed Dafydd – were not to be permitted to recommend a lobotomy for a patient who wasn’t considered sectionable without seeking a second opinion from their partners in crime on the Mental Health Act Commission. Ken observed to Barraclough that in Scotland there are no such restrictions on psychosurgery. There have also been some very great abuses of mental health patients in Scotland and those abuses continue today.

I’m not sure why Ken was so vexed regarding the constraints placed upon the Top Doctors – after all Dafydd and co simply just breached every aspect of this most unreasonable Mental Health Act when it was passed and they didn’t even receive a written warning. Not even from the man who had written the Act. I doubt that Ken et al ever did find that they were limited even with regard to psychosurgery.

Cardiff is one of the last remaining centres for psychosurgery in England and Wales – although there is no guarantee that Dafydd isn’t busy in his kitchen with a pick, it’s not as if anybody would stop him. Lena Zavaroni died after psychosurgery at Cardiff and the truth was not told about the circumstances of that death.

Rawnsley mentioned that the Royal College had asked for the creation of the Mental Health Act Commission to improve safeguards before detaining patients. So that job creation scheme for William Bingley, Chris Heginbotham, Louis Blom-Cooper, Tessa Jowell and Lord Kamlash Patel worked brilliantly didn’t it.

Ken stated that the ‘powerful anti-psychiatry feeling’ that he believed existed among MPs was fuelled by scandals in mental hospitals. Obviously Ken being a paid up member of one of the galaxies of talent meant that he occupied a different galaxy to me, but in Galaxy Baker what I noticed was MPs colluding with Top Doctors to keep the huge scandal which was Dafydd completely under wraps because of Dafydd’s role in supplying children to paedophiles in politics, including Ken Clarke’s and Norman Fowler ‘s colleague Sir Peter Morrison.

Barraclough responded to Rawnsley’s mention of scandals in the interview by reminding Rawnsley that of course those scandals were a result of underfunding. Well once these dangerous idiots have received their salaries and pension pots and had their research units bankrolled, once an inspection system has been set up that allows Dafydd to imprison abducted people in the cellar and once no legal expense has been spared to pursue anyone who dares complain through the criminal justice system and into the prisons and high security hospitals, there’s not going to be much left over to waste on patient care. And Bluglass will want a good lunch and a nice hotel for the night when he goes up to north Wales to conduct the cover-up and then there’s the millions needed for the rigged Public Inquiries when somebody dies…

Ken noted that when he became President of the Royal College, Cardiff Medical School and the Health Authority were delighted because it brought kudos to psychiatry in Cardiff and Wales. Just when Mary Wynch got out of Denbigh and began her litigation against Dafydd. Tony Francis arrived as a consultant in north Wales just after Ken became President – a nice young doctor who’d been at university with Kinnock who became leader of the Labour Party soon afterwards. A nice young doctor who was going to lead psychiatry in north Wales into a new dawn – who was sadly as dangerous and as unhinged as Dafydd, but who was a great deal more plausible.

Ken was also the College’s rep on the Central Distinction Awards Committee, so he oversaw the consultants bonus’s, the ‘merit awards’ – one did not  have to be meritorious to receive one of those. Ken himself pointed out that there needed to be a system which rewarded Top Doctors who didn’t have lots of publications and who didn’t work in academic centres but who provided a service to the community. Perhaps by keeping the victims of sex offenders in a cellar.

Anyone for an extra Welsh cake?

Rawnsley remembered the political battles between the DHSS, the BMA and the Royal College. They all loathed each other but were united in concealing the criminality of Dafydd and the paedophiles…

Rawnsley mentioned in his interview with Barraclough that the President of the Royal College is a member of the Joint Consultants Committee. It was that Committee who appointed Bluglass and Colin Berry to investigate my complaint about Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends – safe in the knowledge that Bluglass was a colleague and friend of at least two former colleagues of Francis and Dafydd. Bluglass performed the cover-up in the summer of 1988 and had been appointed by very early in 1988 – so the Committee will have been working out how to get Dafydd and Tony Francis off the hook at the end  of 1987. When the President of the College was – Dr Jim Birley, who starred in my post ‘A Galaxy of Talent’.

Jim Birley had worked at the Maudsley with Dafydd’s mate Bob Hobson and I bet that he knew Dafydd as well. Birley also knew David Ennals, the Gov’t Minister and Chair of MIND when MIND had links with PIE. For more details of Jim including his psychotic breakdown from which he of course recovered overnight and was never troubled by again, please see post ‘A Galaxy Of Talent’.

The hearing into my complaint was originally sheduled for March 1988. The investigation was being co-ordinated by the Welsh Office’s Medical Ombudsman Professor Robert Owen, a surgeon from Liverpool University who was as corrupt as everybody else involved. Last year my lawyer forwarded me documentation related to the hearing that I had not previously seen. Robert Owen was receiving letters and phone calls about me from the corrupt GP David Wood, who had been the person who had originally referred me to Gwynne the lobotomist and then to Tony Francis and who had been the first person to threaten me with damage to my career if I complained about the lobotomist. Because of the constant unpleasantness from Wood, by 1988 he was no longer my GP. Yet I had not named Wood in my complaint, so there was no reason for him to be comunicating with Owen about my complaint concerning Francis and Dafydd. Furthermore Wood had contacted Owen at his home in Colwyn Bay offering him ‘information’ about me. So keen was Wood to impart this unspecified ‘information’ that Wood had cleared his diary and put aside an afternoon when he would make himself available to Owen, who was going to ring Wood from home.

I knew nothing about any of this until last year.

On the arranged date in March 1988 I arrived for the hearing into my complaint. I arrived to find no-one there but a very friendly Prof Owen, full of apologies and explaining that the hearing had been post-poned at the last minute because someone had been taken ill. I am absolutely sure that Prof Owen told me that it was Dafydd who had been taken ill because I remember thinking Christ they’ve done everything possible not to investigate this complaint and now Dafydd’s thrown a sickie. I also joked about it in a letter to Gwynedd Health Authority.

The hearing finally took place in July. Dafydd lied through his teeth, written and oral evidence given by staff from the North Wales Hospital confirmed that Dafydd had broken the law, done a deal with a corrupt senior police officer in Bangor Police Station to have me arrested and both nurses and another consultant had told Dafydd that what he was doing was illegal. He ignored them and stated that I ‘must not be allowed to go free’. No part of my complaint about Tony Francis and Jackie Brandt was investigated and neither was my complaint about Stephen Rose, a Denbigh nurse who assaulted me.

Bluglass concluded that the Top Doctors facilitating a gang of paedophiles who had done all this were ‘caring people’ who had been ‘harassed’ by me and that I had caused many people great annoyance and upset. Dafydd later told people that Bluglass had stated that I was probably a psychopath who would end up in a ward for the criminally insane. Dafydd remarked that it was a chilling prediction. Those two were obviously writing their own Gothic horror story – another from the pen of Dafydd Alun Poe…

In 1991 Bluglass told Dr Robin Jacobson of St George’s that I had a homicidal capacity. Not that I’d ever killed anyone, but Old Bluglass’s Almanac was obviously being called upon.

Bluglass made a point in his report of noting that so crazed and vindictive towards poor old Dafydd was I that I had even accused Dafydd of going off sick on the day of the first scheduled hearing, when actually it had been Bluglass who had been rushed into hospital.

Perhaps my memory is playing tricks, but one thing that is crystal clear is that this lot were a bunch of liars and cheats.

In Nov 1987 at about the time when Bluglass would have been appointed to conduct the cover-up, Alison Taylor, the Gwynedd social worker who blew the whistle on the abuse of children in care in north Wales, was sacked. Alison’s boss, the Director of Gwynedd Social Services Lucille Hughes, was Dafydd’s mistress. Lucille was named in the Waterhouse Report as knowing that a paedophile ring was operating within the social services but failed to act.

On Feb 28 1988 Alison wrote to the Secretary of State for the DHSS Tony Newton and told him about a vicious assault she had witnessed on a child. That letter would have been received about two weeks before I turned up for the big day only to find that either Dafydd or Bluglass had suddenly been taken ill.

The cover-up was rescheduled for July.

During May and June the Nottingham Satanic Panic took place, which, like the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal, resulted in ludicrous allegations being made about innocent people by social workers at a time when across the UK evidence was emerging that the nation’s social services had been infiltrated by organised paedophile gangs. Like Cleveland, the Nottingham Satanic Panic provided a useful distraction from the allegations that Alison, Mary and me were making that something terrible was happening in north Wales (see post ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas And The Culprits Were Named’).

The notion of Satanic Abuse was first introduced into the UK by a therapist/social worker based in north Wales who travelled the UK providing ‘training’ to others as to how to spot signs of Satanic Abuse.

At least two people with learning disabilities were banged up in Denbigh as a result of allegations of Satanic Abuse.

In July 1988 Elizabeth Butler-Sloss published her Report on the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal. Butler-Sloss was the sister of Michael Havers, Attorney General, 1979-87. In his capacity as Attorney General Havers blocked the prosecution of former diplomat and Deputy Head of MI6 Sir Peter Hayman for child porn offences – Hayman was a member of PIE.

In July 1988 Robert Bluglass wrote his report in which he maintained that the only real problem in north Wales was me.

At some point in 1988 Gordon Anglesea became a Superintendent in the North Wales Police stationed in Colwyn Bay. Anglesea lived in Colwyn Bay, as did the Chief Constable of North Wales who led the force whilst it concealed child abuse.

Anglesea had previously been stationed in Wrexham and in 1994 won nearly 400k damages after bringing a libel case in the wake of two young men alleging that Anglesea had abused them when they had been in care in Wrexham (see post ‘Y Gwir Yn Erbyn Y Byd’). One of the men, Mark Humphreys, was found dead weeks later.

In 2016 Gordon Anglesea was imprisoned for historic sex offences against boys in care in Wrexham.

Rawnsley’s wife Elinor Kapp is also a Top Doctor. She spent her career as a child psychiatrist in Gwent and Powys. In 2010 Kapp wrote to The Times in her capacity as a child psychiatrist with regard to paedophile priests. Kapp stated that ‘within the children’s professions by that time we all knew that the majority of abusers would manipulate in whatever way they could to deny their wrongdoing and continue their bahaviour. It was also made clear that all cases known to professionals must be reported to the authorities, to avoid exactly the collusion that typically appears to continue to operate in the Roman Catholic Church’.

In a response to a discussion about this matter on the blog ‘Dolphinarium’, following her letter to The Times, Kapp explained that in the 1970s and 80s she was working as a child psychiatrist outside London and that she and her colleagues worked increasingly closely with the police and social services, steadily learning more about the problems of identifying and dealing with cases of child sexual abuse.

At present Elinor Kapp is a member of the Board of the City Hospice in south Wales – she has been involved with the hospice as both a Board member and volunteer since its foundation. The City Hospice was originally known as the George Thomas Trust, after the south Wales Labour MP and Speaker of the House who was involved with the Trust. The Trust changed its name after it was admitted that there had been repeated allegations that George Thomas had abused children and teenaged boys but that the police failed to act and Thomas was protected by a network of people in politics and the professions.

Elinor’s biography on the City Hospice website explains that she is a ‘mother and a grandmother’ with ‘a kind heart’.
