What’s Left? The Politics of Social Justice

My post ‘Life In Cold Blood’ detailed the backgrounds and activities of some paedophiles’ friends who doubled up as lefties committed to social justice and democracy, including Red Ken’s Deputy in the GLC, Illtyd Harrington. I mentioned that Illtyd was originally Deputy to Andrew McIntosh, but a coup orchestrated by the hard left saw McIntosh ousted and Red Ken installed as Leader of the GLC. So did Andrew the Overthrown suffer as a result? It doesn’t seem as though he did, he ended up in the Lords which is more than Illtyd did, so someone found Andrew useful.

Andrew Robert McIntosh, Baron McIntosh of Haringey (30 April 1933 – 27 August 2010) was a Labour Party politician and the last elected Principal of the Working Men’s College, 1988-97.

The WMC was founded in 1854 and established by Christian Socialists to provide a liberal education for artisans. The founding of the College was partially a response to concerns about the revolutionary potential of the Chartist Movement and its early protagonists were also closely associated with the Co-operative Movement and labour organisations. The WMC is located in St Pancras – within the Borough of Camden – and numbered among its teachers the Rolls Royce-driving crooked former Conservative MP for Taunton, Edward du Cann.

Andrew McIntosh was educated at Haberdasher Aske’s Hampstead School, the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe and then Jesus College, Oxford and Ohio State University.

McIntosh served as a Councillor in the London Borough of Haringey (1964–68) and represented Tottenham on the GLC (1973–83). When Labour won control of the GLC in 1981, McIntosh was leader of the Labour Group. McIntosh was a centrist who narrowly beat left-winger Red Ken for the leadership. However, the day after Labour won a small majority, McIntosh was ousted and Livingstone was voted leader of the Labour Group and of the GLC in his place.

By the mid-1980s, Dafydd and the paedophile gang had direct links to Haringey Social Services, so presumably McIntosh would have known about that, as well as about the sorry state of Haringey Social Services, which simply did not function for many years. There was scandal after scandal and then an enormous eruption in 2000 when Victoria Climbie died in the care of Haringey. A Public Inquiry was held and there was a great deal of learning lessons and never againing, then in 2007 the death of Baby P (Peter Connelly) demonstrated that nothing at all had changed in that Borough.

Tony Smythe was involved with Haringey MIND. Smythe had previously spent a number of years as CEO of National MIND when MIND had links to paedophiles rights groups and was of course also concealing the crimes of Dafydd et al. Smythe’s’s cultural interests, his stance as an anarchist and his activism brought him into contact with some people doing some questionable things including fighting for paedophiles’ rights (see post ‘MIND Are Out For Mental Health – Never For Themselves Of Course…’).

Jeremy Corbyn formerly sat on an NHS Authority which covered Islington, Bloomsbury and Haringey.

Andrew McIntosh was given a peerage in 1983 and he served as a Whip and a culture spokesman in the Lords. He was appointed a Privy Councillor in 2002.

McIntosh was the UK’s Minister for the Media and Heritage at the Dept for Culture, Media and Sport, 2003-05, under Secretary of State Tessa Jowell, the paedophiles’ friend (see posts ‘Tower Hamlets, Paul Boateng and Tessa Jowell’ and ‘Baroness Tessa Jowell – A Tribute’). His responsibilities included broadcasting and press regulation, heritage and architecture, libraries and gambling regulation. McIntosh was also spokesman in the House of Lords for HM Treasury, 1997-05, when the Chancellor of the Exchequer was Gordon Brown.

In Sept 2005, McIntosh became a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe sitting as Chairman of the Assembly’s Committee on Culture, Science and Education from Jan 2010 and Chairman of its Sub-Committee on the Media from 2008-09. Following the passing of a resolution on ‘Threats to the lives and freedom of expression of journalists’ on 27 Jan 2007, the Council of Europe appointed McIntosh its rapporteur on media freedom.

McIntosh became an Honorary Associate of the National Secular Society, a Distinguished Supporter of the British Humanist Association and Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Humanist Group. He was Chairman of the Fabian Society, 1985-86 and Captain, Yeoman of the Guard, 1997-03.

McIntosh was married to academic and TV executive Naomi Sargant. Sargant was Professor of Applied Social Research at the Open University and then Channel 4’s Senior Commissioning Editor for education. Naomi was the daughter of Tom Sargant, a businessman and politician who became the first Secretary of the campaigning organisation JUSTICE, with which a great many paedophiles’ friends have been and are linked.

Naomi was educated at Friends’ School, Saffron Walden, Essex and Bedford College, London. After graduating, Naomi trained as a market researcher, joining Social Surveys Ltd in 1955 and remaining there until 1967, when she became senior lecturer at Enfield College of Technology. Naomi moved to the Open University in 1970 when she was appointed as senior lecturer in research methods. She was PVC for Student Affairs, 1974-78, then Professor of Applied Social Research until 1981. Naomi’s time at the OU overlapped with that of Professor Stuart Hall, who was involved in trying to damage Brown’s career when Brown was young. Hall’s friends and colleagues knew about the organised abuse and sexual exploitation of children and young people and it would have been difficult for Stuart Hall not to have known about it as well. See post ‘Life In Cold Blood’.

In 1981, Naomi was appointed to the newly established Channel 4, under C4’s first Chief Executive Jeremy Isaacs.

Isaacs stated that ‘Naomi’s political skills enabled her to deal confidently with like-minded spirits at the IBA and in education. The programmes she commissioned did not have to be part of curricular structures; she was free to add to what other broadcasters offered, catering to the viewers who might be unemployed, disabled or retired’.

C4’s output at the time could hardly be described as catering to many of those who were ‘unemployed, disabled or retired’. There was row after row regarding C4’s eccentric output, one of the biggest rows being about C4 screening Derek Jarman’s film ‘Jubilee’, which featured the rebel Toyah Wilcox from Solihull making hissing noises. Dafydd’s mate Professor Robert Bluglass lived in Solihull, perhaps that where Toyah learned to hiss.

_Black_Acrylic: Derek Jarman - Jubilee

Toyah excelled at hissing to such an extent that in 2002 she led the campaign against the housing of asylum seekers near to where she lived in Worcestershire.

It was C4 who screened ‘The Tube’, giving Paula Yates her big break. Paula came from Colwyn Bay, spent part of her life in north Wales and went to the primary school in Rowen. Lord Wyn Roberts lived in Rowen throughout the years when he loyally colluded with the crimes of Dafydd et al.

  • PAULA YATES TATTOOS -TATTOO PICS PHOTOS PICTURES OF HER ...
  • Paula’s last years were incredibly difficult and involved her being in the clutches of Top Doctors who did not seem to be doing her much good. Paula was found dead from an overdose of heroin in Sept 2000. Paula’s friends did not believe that she had killed herself. Paula’s life had taken a turn for the worse in Nov 1997, when her partner Michael Hutchence was found hanging dead. Paula maintained that he had not, as the rest of the world claimed, committed suicide. In April 2014 Paula’s daughter Peaches was found dead from a heroin overdose. Peaches was thought to have given up heroin some time previously. For further details regarding the unfortunate deaths of Paula, Michael Hutchence and Peaches, see post ‘The International Language Of Screaming’.

St Bob’s family are being wiped out at a rate that nearly equals that of the unfortunate Ormsby-Gores, some of whom knew about the Westminster Paedophile Ring (see post ’95 Glorious Years!’).

Paedophiles’ friends: the original sinners – the Peter Morrisons, the St John Stevases, the Grevilles, the Cyril Smiths, the Thorpes – are now all dead. What is your problem? It’s not as if the witnesses could have them jailed anymore is it? Ah – just remembered. There were all the ageing celebs and rock stars who are still alive to whom Dafydd et al supplied kids. And all those Top Docs, lawyers, judges and politicians who built their careers upon keeping quiet about it…

Cherie Booth being sworn in as a QC in April 1995. In April 1995, Nicola Davies QC was reviewing the paperwork of the North Wales Police relating to the abuse of children in care in order to decide whether a public inquiry was warranted. The paperwork from 1989 onward was all missing. By April 1995, Sir Ronnie Waterhouse had altered his retirement plans, which was most convenient when he was subsequently appointed to Chair the Public Inquiry which Nicola Davies QC concluded in Dec 1995 would not be in the public interest. Ronnie Waterhouse had previously worked with Derry Irvine and Derry’s two juniors, Tony Blair and Cherie Booth.

Jeremy Isaacs was an experienced journo who would have known about the Westminster Paedophile Ring and its branch in north Wales. Isaacs joined Granada Television in Manchester as a producer in 1958 and was involved in creating or supervising series such as ‘World In Action’ and ‘What The Papers Say’. He worked for the BBC’s ‘Panorama’ in the 1960s. Elwyn Parry Jones, originally from Llangollen, was Deputy Editor of Panorama, 1977-85. Parry Jones returned to live in north Wales in the late 1980s. He lived in Trevor, a village just down the road from Bryn Estyn and Bryn Alyn. When Parry Jones returned to north Wales, he spent his time making films for S4C, the Welsh language arm of C4. Other BBC big wigs from north Wales included Huw Wheldon and Angus McDermid (see post ‘The Turn Of The Screw’). Isaacs was the overall producer for the ‘World At War’ (1973–74) for Thames Television and was Director of Programmes for Thames between 1974-78. Later, he produced ‘Ireland: A Television History’ (1981) for the BBC and co-produced the TV series ‘Cold War’ (1998). Isaacs was President of the Royal Television Society, 1997-2000. The RTS which employed a child molester and unlawfully sacked a witness to the crimes in north Wales when she wanted to make a film about it (see post ‘The Turn Of The Screw’).

While the unemployed, disabled and retired watched ‘Bob’s Full House’ and ‘Blankety Blank’, Naomi Sargant listed ‘topics for action’ including arts, history, science, the environment and such ‘basic skills’ as literacy and numeracy, health and the family. Naomi catered for ‘leisure interests’, including wine – now there’s the way to an unemployed, disabled person’s heart, fine wines – and signed up Jancis Robinson for her TV debut. ‘Chips Comic’ was for children with disabilities. That became as well-known as Val, John and Pete and Petra and Patch didn’t it. Another of Naomi’s creations for C4 was ‘Quilts in Women’s Lives’.

Obviously the talents of someone who dreamed up ‘Quilts in Women’s Lives’ were not missed by the wider world and Naomi held numerous public appointments. They included: Chairman of the National Gas Consumer Council (1977-80); President of the National Society for Clean Air (1981-83); Pro Chancellor of the University of East London (1992-94). Inevitably Naomi had a finger in the NHS pie (or should that be PIE?) – she was Chairman of the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust, 1997-2000.

Amidst all the smiley face emojis and camera shots of Angels holding people’s hands, GOSH has been party to a few terrible things. Audrey Callaghan, who colluded with the abuse and neglect of children and vulnerable people when she sat on the London County Council and then on the GLC in the late 1950s/60s, was Chair of Governors for GOSH, 1969-82 and Chair of the Hospital’s Special Trustees until 1990. Audrey was a fundraiser for GOSH for 30 years and for 15 years – until 1999 – she was a Trustee of the Wishing Well Appeal. Audrey was a personal friend of crooked lawyer Leo Abse, who was a good mate of the child molester George Thomas and ensured that Thomas was extracted from trouble every time that someone dared complain about him. It was Jim Callaghan who, in his capacity as Home Secretary, allowed Leo Abse to personally manipulate and threaten people into allowing the paedophiles’ friends to rewrite the law on children in care, which resulted in the Children Act 1975. That was the Act which saw kids in care transported en masse into the arms of John Allen’s gang in north Wales. See post ‘Cry The Beloved Country’.

Leo Abse’s plan would never have come to fruition had a helpful MP who personally knew some of Dafydd’s associates not have been happy to introduce the Private Member’s Bill needed:

Official portrait of Lord Owen crop 2.jpg

GOSH were involved with the neglect and negligence which led to the death of Baby P and more recently were at the centre of the scrap over the care and treatment of baby Charlie Gard.

Naomi Sargant served on Haringey Borough Council and was Chairman of the Children’s Committee, 1964-68.

Naomi was also an executive member of the National Institute for Adult Continuing Education. She was made an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Art (1988) and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (1991). In 1996, Naomi was inducted into the Royal Television Society’s Hall of Lame.

Jeremy Isaacs’s obituary of Naomi commented that she was ‘a socialist in the fine line of RH Tawney, Michael Young and Peter Townsend’. It was Michael Young’s champagne socialism and hypocrisy which spawned the dreadful Toby Young, who’s entire life of right wing offensiveness seems to have resulted from his seething anger at his dad’s idiocy. Peter Townsend kept close company with the paedophiles’ friends as well.

Isaac’s tells us that ‘serving others’, Naomi ‘bent her mind to doing good’. A great many people suffered as a result of Naomi serving others and doing so much good.

Jane Collins, Chief Executive, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust, added to Naomi’s obituary:

‘Sargant made many important contributions to GOSH in her three years as Chair of the Trust Board. Ahead of the times, she was particularly concerned about involving our patients and their families in developing our services so they can best meet their needs’.

Ah, so that was why there was that enormous rift last year between GOSH and the family of Charlie Gard.

Jane Collins remembered that Naomi’s ‘perspective as Chair was particularly helpful when the interim report of Sir Ian Kennedy’s Inquiry into children’s heart surgery at the Bristol Royal Infirmary was published in May 2000. We had been somewhat complacent in thinking we already worked in partnership with families. Naomi and this Report reminded us that the perceptions of children and families might be very different and we needed to really listen to what they were saying’.

Kennedy’s Report resulted from the Inquiry which followed allegations in the late 1990s that paediatric surgeons at Bristol were operating way beyond their competence and that children had died as a result. The matter of just how competent or otherwise the Bristol surgeons were was never really settled because the opinions of their peers who reviewed them could not be taken to be fair either (see post ‘More Alan Bennett’). The whole field had been corrupted by research fraud, cheating and dishonesty for years (see post ‘Interesting Facts’).

Naomi’s ‘other major contribution was to increase awareness and ensure action was taken to address equality and diversity issues. She was particularly concerned that our workforce did not reflect the ethnic make-up of our patients. This was most marked in nursing: it reflected in no way on the quality of the staff, but as a result we actively worked with the Nursing School at South Bank University to encourage recruitment from ethnic minorities into children’s nursing, with demonstrable success’.

Entrenched racism is an enduring feature of the NHS – I have witnessed it in every NHS setting in which I have ever worked or been treated. They don’t like darkies and they don’t like them any more today than they did when the Windrush generation arrived. In Bradford, a solution to the problem of the racist intimidation to which one nursing tutor was subjected – among other things, she found a picture of a monkey attached to her door – was to give her a Chair rather than risk a tribunal and the attendant bad publicity. The Angel involved had no academic record, so people not in the know wondered why there was a Professor at Bradford who had no academic background. Another NHS gesture in the direction of diversity and equality was the promotion of Angel Paula Vasco-Knight to high office, namely as the CEO of an NHS Trust in Devon. Vasco-Knight subsequently made history by collapsing in the dock when she escaped a prison sentence for her misconduct and crimes when she ran the Trust (see post ‘NHS Chief Executive Collapses In Court After Being Spared Jail’).

  • Strange but true

This is what happens when Angels are given PhDs on the basis of weak theses including much misunderstood sociology and are then promoted on the basis that they are ‘experts’. Angels: one thing that really pissed me off was your belief that you were experts in biographical narrative analysis after you had attended a one day ‘masterclass’. You were not and writing a PhD thesis which is no more than one huge self-indulgent ‘Dear Diary’ did not alter that.

The day after I wrote ‘Life In Cold Blood’ Ed Miliband gratuitously popped up on Radio 4 expressing his outrage about something. It may have been a complete coincidence that a number of Ed Miliband’s dad’s friends featured in that post, as they have in a few other recent posts. I haven’t blogged much about Ed’s dad himself though, so here we go Ed.

Ralph Miliband’s parents were among the Polish Jews who migrated to Brussels after WWI. Ralph was born in Brussels in 1924. He grew up in the working class community of Saint-Gilles and in 1939, aged 15, he became a member of Hashomer Hatzair (‘Young Guard), a socialist-Zionist youth group. In May 1940, the armies of Nazi Germany invaded Belgium and the Miliband family fled the country, Ralph and his father Sam escaping first and subsequently arriving in Britain in May 1940.

In London, Ralph and his father gained work in the Chiswick area removing furniture from houses bombed in the Blitz and, after six weeks, were able to send news to their mother and sister that they were in London. Ralph’s sister and his mother managed to escape when the Jews of Belgium were being rounded up by the Nazis. Ralph’s sister and mother were hidden on a farm by a French family until after the end of the war, when they were reunited with Sam and Ralph in Britain. Several of Ralph Miliband’s relatives and his best friend were killed in the Holocaust.

Ralph gained a place at Acton Technical College (now Brunel University) with the help of the League of Nations Commission for Refugees in Jan 1941. After completing his course, Ralph gained the help of the Belgian Gov’t in exile to study at the LSE, which because of the constant bombing of London by the Luftwaffe was evacuated to the premises of Peterhouse, Cambridge. Harold Laski was a dominant figure in the LSE at this time. Miliband studied under Laski, and was considerably influenced by him politically.

Harold Laski was the Chairman of the Labour Party, 1945–1946 and a Professor at the LSE, 1926-50. In 1936, Laski formed the Left Book Club, assisted by John Strachey. John Strachey was close friends with Lord Bob Boothby, the bisexual swinging Tory politician, who was mates with various dodgy people, including the Krays (see post ‘My How Things Haven’t Changed’). Harold Macmillan’s wife Dorothy had an affair with Bob Boothby. John’s Strachey’s sister was Amabel, who married Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, the Ango-Welsh landowner who rented out the cottages on his estate in north Wales to the Welsh Bloomsbury set, as described in my post ‘The Village’. Clough’s guests – and no doubt Clough and Amabel as well – knew about Gwynne the lobotomist, Dafydd and their little ways of banging up inconvenient people for life. Clough was mates with a huge variety of people, including many of the gentry in north Wales who were propping Gwynne and Dafydd’s regime up. At least one young woman who found herself with a pregnancy which was inconvenient to the father of the baby – one of the radicals who was hanging out at Croesor with Clough’s mates – was banged up in the North Wales Hospital Denbigh in the early 1960s, only emerging into obscurity decades later when chunks of Denbigh began closing, when she was quite an elderly lady. She was ‘rehoused’ a safe distance from Croseor, lest anyone might be reminded of what they did.

Amabel Williams-Ellis, née Strachey, was a writer and is now best known for editing multitudinous volumes of fairy tales, folk legends and science fiction.

UnknownClough and Amabel outside their home, Plas Brondanw.

Clough was also mates with Bertrand Russell, who lived nearby at Penrhyndeudraeth. Bertrand had his cross to bear, namely members of his immediate family who were insane and needed incarcerating in asylums. Bertrand found a few helpful Top Docs, but was seriously miffed when he met opposition from one Top Doc – presumably not a Top Doc in north Wales – who dared tell Russell that his adult son did not need locking up. Russell’s evidence that his son was nuts included his son’s paranoid ideas that Russell was a nasty piece of work who was shagging his wife. It later became known that Russell was shagging his son’s wife. See post ‘So Who Was Angry About What?’.

As with Jean-Paul Sartre, it was often marvelled that women were magnetically attracted to Bertrand Russell, because he was small and shrivelled with rotten teeth. One of the local north Wales newspapers in the late 1980s ran a ‘profile’ of Dafydd, in which they actually commented that he was known to be ‘attractive to women’. The journo concerned had clearly not interviewed the targets of Dafydd’s attentions, it definitely was not that they were attracted to Dafydd… That profile was published while I was a patient on the psych ward in Ysbyty Gwynedd after making a serious complaint about Dafydd. Two male Angels read it in front of me and rolled around laughing because the photographer had even, as the Angels commented, ‘captured the dandruff’. Alison Taylor, a Gwynedd social worker, had by then raised concerns with Gwynedd County Council, Margaret Thatcher, Tony Newton and Carlo that children in care were being abused on a huge scale in north Wales.

In Nov 1987 Alison had been dismissed from her job by Gwynedd County Council.

People continued to joke about all these women who were tripping over themselves to shag Dafydd.

Dr Dafydd Alun Jones:

  • Bertrand Russell - Non smettete mai

For much of her childhood, Russell’s granddaughter Lucy lived with him at Penrhyndeudraeth, what with Lucy’s dad being bonkers and not fit to look after her and for some reason her mum wasn’t either. Poor old Russell had the pain of seeing Lucy go mad as well – paranoid schizophrenia, there was a lot of it about – not long after Lucy complained about Russell’s conduct towards her and then left home and found herself a boyfriend. Lucy burnt herself to death – well she was found burning to death, it was assumed that she had begun the fire – when she was 26 yrs old in April 1975. According to Top Docs, Lucy did this because she had paranoid schizophrenia, but according to Russell, it was a peace protest. Lucy’s mates maintained that she had had a really hard time.

Dafydd, do you happen to know any of the people involved in all of this perchance?

There is a son of an aristocratic family in north Wales who did not inherit because he was deemed to be mentally incompetent. When I found out about this poor sod and I told Brown, Brown responded by saying ‘now there’s a job for DA Jones’. Yes, I’m fairly sure that if we took a look at the documentation, Dafydd’s signature would be there.

‘You do realise that you’re suffering from manic-depressive insanity?’

I realised that you were a mad old bugger who was trying to get your leg over Dafydd.

  • Strange but true

To paraphrase Sybil Fawlty, did a brillianteened old stick insect like Dafydd ever really think that I would be interested?

Bertrand Russell’s son Conrad was a Lib Dem peer who was an historian who worked at Bedford College (see post ‘So Who Was Angry About What?’), the alma mater of Naomi Sargant.

Evelyn John St Loe Strachey (21 October 1901 – 15 July 1963) was born in Guildford, Surrey on 21 October 1901, the youngest of three sons of John St Loe Strachey, Editor of ‘The Spectator’. John Strachey was educated at Eton and then Magdalen College. In 1929 he was elected as the Labour MP for Birmingham Aston. Strachey became PPS to Oswald Mosley, who was then a Labour MP and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster in Ramsay MacDonald’s Gov’t. In May 1930 Mosley and Strachey resigned over the Gov’ts unemployment policies. In Feb 1931 Strachey supported Mosley in founding the New Party, but Strachey resigned in July 1931 when Mosley rejected socialism and close links with the USSR. Mosley subsequently turned to fascism. Strachey lost his seat in 1931 and was a communist sympathiser for the rest of the 1930s, before breaking with the Communist Party in 1940.

During WWII Strachey served in the RAF. He was once again elected to Parliament as a Labour MP – for Dundee – in 1945, holding office under Clement Attlee as Minister of Food and as Secretary of State for War. Strachey became a Privy Councillor in 1946. Strachey continued to be a Labour MP – for Dundee West from 1950 – generally as a supporter of the right wing, until his death in 1963.

Ralph Miliband volunteered to be sent to Belgium to assist the resistance movement, but as a Polish national he was not allowed to join until the Polish authorities gave consent. He asked Harold Laski for help in joining the services and shortly afterwards A.V. Alexander, First Lord of the Admiralty, wrote advising Ralph to ‘go and see a vice-admiral at the Admiralty, who would fix it up’. Miliband joined the Royal Navy in June 1943 and served for three years in the Belgian Section of the Royal Navy.

Miliband served on several warships as a German speaking radio intelligence officer in the Mediterranean, tasked with intercepting German radio communications. In June 1944 Miliband took part in supporting the Normandy landings and saw further action at the Toulon landings.

A.V. Alexander was from Weston-super-Mare in Somerset and early in his career worked for Somerset County Council’s Local Education Authority. He was raised as an Anglican but converted to the Baptist movement. Alexander joined the Weston Co-operative Society and became Treasurer of the local Young Liberal Association and the local Trades and Labour Council. He was then elected to the Board of the Weston Co-op Society.

During WWI Alexander served with the Artists Rifles. He trained in London and studied at Magdalen College, Oxford, before earning his commission. His health suffered during training and he never saw active service, instead working as a posting officer and then an education officer. Alexander was demobbed in late 1919 and within a year of returning home, he became Vice-President of the Weston Co-op Society and Secretary of the Somerset branch of NALGO.

Alexander was Parliamentary Secretary to the Co-operative Union, 1920-46. He was elected as the Co-operative Party’s MP for Hillsborough in 1922 and was re-elected in 1923, 1924 and 1929. Alexander continued to represent Sheffield, with one break, until 1950.

In early 1929, Alexander became a member of the Cabinet in the Labour Gov’t. Alexander was First Sea Lord, 1929-31, 1940-45 and 1945-46. He was Minister of Defence, 1946-50. A.V. Alexander was a good friend of Churchill’s and was the leader of the Labour Party in the Lords, 1955-64. In the Lords, Alexander supported Tony Benn’s campaign to renounce his peerage.

A.V. Alexander will have known many of the people who featured in my posts ‘The Defence Of The Realm’ and ‘In Memoriam – Lord Carrington’, including Sir Alec Bingley and Lord Louis Mountbatten. Alec Bingley’s wife and son, Lady Juliet and William Bingley, spent decades concealing the criminality of Dafydd and others in their positions at MIND and the Mental Health Act Commission. Alec Bingley will have known the truth behind the gay sex and espionage scandal involving John Vassall in the Admiralty (see previous posts), as will have Mountbatten. Mountbatten has been named as one of those who was involved with organised abuse at the Kincora Boys’ Home.

After WWII, Miliband resumed his studies at the LSE and graduated in 1947. He began a PhD but did not complete until 1956. Miliband undertook a period of research at the LSE funded by a Leverhulme scholarship. The Leverhulme Trust is the charitable endeavour of the Lever family of Unilever fame. It was Unilever who funded Prof Fergus Lowe’s empire at UCNW in the early 1990s. Fungus secured that grant substantially by holding Unilever over a barrel with regard to Fungus’s knowledge of the wrongdoing of Dafydd and the trafficking gang. One branch of Dafydd’s empire was in Liverpool and Philip Lever aka Lord Leverhulme was Chancellor of Liverpool University, 1980-93 (see post ‘Heart Of Darkness’). Dafydd trained at Liverpool University and there were scores of Dafydd’s associates working there when Fungus bagged that Unilever grant, including Professor Robert Owen, who had concealed Dafydd’s crimes in 1988-89 (see post ‘Feet In Chains’).

Miliband then taught at the Roosevelt College (now Roosevelt University) in Chicago. In 1949 he returned to the LSE as an Assistant Lecturer.

Miliband joined the Labour Party in 1951. He joined the New Left, alongside E.P. Thompson and Eric Hobsbawm, with whom Miliband was close friends. E.P. Thompson and Eric Hobsbawm both rented cottages from Sir Clough Williams-Ellis and spent their leisure time at Croesor in north Wales. They knew about the activities of Dafydd and Gwynne et al.

In 1964, Miliband set up the ‘Socialist Register’ with John Saville, who was also part of the New Left. John Saville also studied at the LSE, where he joined the Communist Party of Great Britain. Thompson and Hobsbawm were also members of the CPGB, but Saville and Thompson left as a result of the Soviet invasion of Hungary in 1956. This caused a major bust-up between Thompson and Hobsbawm, because Hobsbawm remained a member of the CPGB.

Saville was also a member of the Communist Party Historians’ Group, along with Hobsbawm and Thompson.  John Saville was an academic at Hull University in Yorkshire for decades and was a member of the Hull Communist Party and its associated organisations.

Khrushchev’s denunciation of Stalin in 1956, or, more exactly, the failure of the British CP leadership to recognise its significance, transformed the Communist Party Historians’ Group from loyalists into vocal critics. Saville broke his affiliation with the Communist Party Historians Group and emerged as one of the founders of the ‘New Reasoner’, in partnership with E.P. Thompson.

I don’t mind if folk want to leave the People’s Front of Judea and join the Judean People’s Front instead, but while Clough’s mates busied themselves with this and continued the wrangling when they were staying at Croesor, Gwynne and Dafydd were causing havoc.

John Saville’s acquaintances and co-thinkers also included Stuart Hall, Philip Larkin, Doris Lessing and Raphael Samuel. Harry Newton, a left-wing student, had passed himself off as a family friend of Saville. His true identity, as an MI5 agent planted at Saville’s home in Hull, was later uncovered.

Philip Larkin was famously the Librarian at Hull University for years and acquired a following by writing things like ‘They fuck you up your mum and dad’ and ‘Sexual intercourse began/In nineteen sixty-three/(which was rather late for me) -Between the end of the “Chatterley” ban/
And the Beatles’ first LP.’

Larkin had an enthusiastic sado-masochistic relationship with literature scholar Monica Jones as well as with a few other people. Since Larkin’s death his reputation has taken quite a serious fall as a result of allegations of racism, misogyny and his major obsession with porn. Quite a lot was known for years about Larkin’s less attractive characteristics including his bothering of students and other young women, but no-one mentioned it because he was famous.

Before Larkin worked at Hull, from 1946-50 he was Assistant Librarian at Leicester University. Monica also worked at Leicester University. A long-standing paedophile ring operated in Leicester with links to Dafydd and the gang in north Wales, which was concealed by pretty much all sections of society in Leicester, as well as by numerous people working at Leicester University (see post ‘Life In Cold Blood’). There was also of course organised abuse of children and young people in Yorkshire, involving Jimmy Savile and others.

When Doris Lessing was in middle-age, she took in a teenager whom her son knew from school. The teenager had been thrown out of her home – not the teenager’s fault, her family were hugely dysfunctional and she was being abused by them – and her friend, Doris Lessing’s son, told his mum. Doris invited the girl to move in with them. The teenager was Jenny Diski, who later became a well-known writer herself. Jenny Diski experienced some dreadful things when she was young, including some truly bizarre events at the hands of Top Doctors. It seemed that no-one knew what to do with Jenny’s parents, so Jenny was constructed as the problem and was handed over to a psychiatric unit, where as a teenager she resided with much older seriously distressed people. Then she crashed out at Doris Lessing’s place. Jenny Diski wrote about her time living with the Lessings and although Diski appreciated that Lessing was sympathetic and took her in, Lessing seemed to have been remarkably unconcerned at the dreadful things that the adults around Jenny were doing to her. Lessing prioritised something that the sex trafficking social workers of north Wales all prided themselves on doing for their ‘clients’ – she dragged Jenny along to a Top Doctor to be fitted up with contraception. So if Jenny was going to be shagged by a load of worthless people, at least no-one would have to worry about a pregnancy.

Raphael Samuel worked at Ruskin College for many years from 1962. In the mid-1960s, Matt Arnold, who later became Head of Bryn Estyn, taught at Ruskin and one of his pupils was Peter Howarth, who was given a job at Bryn Estyn by Arnold months after Arnold was appointed as Head. When Arnold and Howarth were involved with Ruskin, they were working at Axwell Park Approved School in Gateshead, where children had been abused. This was concealed by Ernest Armstrong, who used his links to the Education Secretary when Armstrong Chaired the Education Committee of Sunderland Borough Council to keep a lid on it (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III). Armstrong ended up as the Labour MP for North West Durham, 1964-87 and his seat was succeeded by his daughter Hilary. Ernest and Hilary were good mates of Blair. John Prescott was a student at Ruskin (as were many high profile people in the Labour Party and trade union movement) – and a leading light in the Ruskin Students’ Union – when Howarth and Arnold were there (see post ‘A Study In Tyranny’). Prezza came from north Wales and was Labour MP for Hull East, 1970-2010.

Peter Howarth was one of the few people who went to prison as a result of the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal. Matt Arnold died from an ‘unidentified blood disease’ four days before Howarth’s trial began. Howarth died in Wakefield Prison in April 1997, just after the Waterhouse Inquiry began to hear evidence from witnesses. Ronnie Waterhouse opened the Inquiry in January 1997 but in mid-March, suddenly decided that he needed a holiday. He suspended the Inquiry for a short while during which time he went to Hong Kong to visit his son who worked there. In Hong Kong, Ronnie bumped into Derry Irvine and they had a nice meal and a chat. Howarth died while Ronnie was in Hong Kong.

John Saville co-authored with historian Asa Briggs. Briggs spent much of his career at Sussex University in Brighton and was Vice-Chancellor, 1967-76. John Allen owned brothels in Brighton to which he trafficked kids in care from north Wales and it was in Brighton where five witnesses to the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal were killed by a firebomb in April 1992 (see post ‘The Silence Of The Lambs’).

Asa Briggs was particularly furious when three Sussex undergrads protested against a visit to Sussex University of a US official at a time when there was much bad feeling towards the US re the Vietnam War and threw some red paint over the official. Briggs never forgave them and banged on about it until he died. Then Briggs’s daughter took up the baton and in approx 2004 or 2005, while her father was still very much alive, told Radio 4 that he had never recovered from the trauma of the protesting students. One of the students came from the neighbouring village to Croesor in north Wales and knew about Gwynne and Dafydd et al. When he was much older, his wife died while in the care of the paedophiles’ friends who ran the Walton Centre. At the same time, the paedophiles’ friends in north Wales planned to fit him up for a criminal offence. See post ‘Anthem For Doomed Youth’.

Asa Briggs was Chancellor of the Open University, 1978-94. It was in 1979 that Stuart Hall was tempted away from his empire at the Centre for Contemporary Cultural Studies at Birmingham University to take up the Chair of Sociology at the OU (see post ‘Life In Cold Blood’).

Asa came from Yorkshire and served in the Intelligence Corps in WWII and was a friend of the man who later became DG of MI5. See post ‘Anthem For Doomed Youth’ for further details of Asa’s background and contribution to the world.

Ralph Miliband ended his membership of the Labour Party in the mid-1960s and subsequently remained independent of formal political affiliation.

Ralph Miliband’s work was influenced by his friend the American sociologist C. Wright Mills.

Ralph left the LSE in 1972, having found himself torn by the controversies which had beleaguered the institution over the preceding few years, particularly the LSE’s responses to student protests in the late 1960s. He took up the post of Professor of Politics at Leeds University – where Asa Briggs had been Professor of Modern History, 1955-61. The time at Leeds was an unhappy period for Miliband. He suffered a heart attack soon after the move, did not enjoy the administrative responsibilities as a Head of Department and he resigned in 1978.

Leeds was Jimmy Savile/Paedophilia Central and the joint was certainly jumping in 1978. At that time Peter Sutcliffe was murdering women in the area and the endemically corrupt West Yorkshire Police were far too busy colluding with Savile to find a serial killer. In 1980 Peter Sutcliffe murdered a student at Leeds University. Leeds University was in panic at the time and simply advised the girls not to go out anywhere after dark for any reason.

It was in 1978 that Jimmy Savile was chucked off a cruise ship after a complaint that he’d assaulted a 14 year old girl on board. 1978 was also the year that the BBC censored comments made by Johnny Rotten regarding Savile’s unsavoury conduct.

Jimmy Savile's name 'whitewashed' from walls of Stoke ...

After Leeds, Ralph Miliband subsequently assumed several posts in Canada and the USA. Ralph took a Chair at Brandeis University in 1977 and also lectured at other universities, including York University in Toronto and the City University of New York, although he remained based in London.

By the early 1980s Miliband was active in the Socialist Society with friends such as Tariq Ali and Hilary Wainwright.

Tariq Ali was active in the New Left of the 1960s and has long been associated with the ‘New Left Review’. Ali inserted himself – so to speak – into politics through his involvement with ‘The Black Dwarf’ newspaper and joined the International Marxist Group (IMG) in 1968. Tariq Ali was recruited to the leadership of the IMG and became a member of the International Executive Committee of the (reunified) Fourth International. He also befriended influential figures such as Malcolm X, Stokely Carmichael, John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

John and Yoko holding a particularly ineffective protest:

In 1981, the IMG dissolved when its members entered the Labour Party: the IMG was promptly proscribed. Tariq Ali then abandoned activism in the revolutionary left and supported Tony Benn in his bid to become Deputy Leader of the Labour Party that year.

Some ten years ago I wrote to Tony Benn about the abuse of mental health patients in north Wales. Tony wrote me a reply thanking me for my letter and saying ‘sorry, but mental health is not my area’. In 1993 I wrote to Michael Mansfield complimenting him on his work for radical causes and told him about the abuses to which Gwynedd social workers were subjecting their clients. Michael wrote back thanking me for my letter and telling me that it was always good to have support. He didn’t mention Gwynedd social workers in his reply. Or indeed the police investigation into a possible paedophile ring in north Wales which was just coming to an end at that time.

Tariq Ali was a member of the Russell Tribunal, also known as the International War Crimes TribunalRussell-Sartre Tribunal, or Stockholm Tribunal. It was a private body organised by Bertrand Russell and hosted by Jean-Paul Sartre. The Tribunal investigated and evaluated American foreign policy and military intervention in Vietnam, following the 1954 defeat of French forces at Dien Bien Phu and the establishment of North and South Vietnam. The Tribunal did not investigate alleged war crimes by the Viet Cong. Bertrand Russell justified the establishment of this body as follows:

If certain acts and violations of treaties are crimes, they are crimes whether the United States does them or whether Germany does them. We are not prepared to lay down a rule of criminal conduct against others which we would not be willing to have invoked against us.

Justice Robert H. Jackson, Chief Prosecutor, Nuremberg War Crimes Trials.

The tribunal was constituted in Nov 1966 and was conducted in two sessions in 1967, in Stockholm and Roskilde. The Tribunal was largely ignored in the US. And probably everywhere else as well.

‘Nine-year-old DoVan Ngoc exhibits injuries from napalm in Vietnam’. Should Tariq ever suffer third degree chemical burns himself, perhaps he could let me know and I’ll arrange for a crowd of pompous self-righteous old farts with no intention of providing medical treatment, along with TV cameras, to inspect his injuries whilst he’s starkers. You’d never get this through an ethics committee. Unless of course it was an NHS one.

Further tribunals were set up in the following decades on the same model, using the denomination Russell Tribunal. eg. Russell Tribunal on Latin America focused on human rights violations in dictatorships of Argentina and Brazil (Rome, 1973), on Chile’s military coup d’état (Rome, 1974–76), on Human Rights in Psychiatry (Berlin, 2001) – ooh I’m glad to hear that, who gave evidence, Dafydd? – on Iraq (Brussels, 2004) and on Palestine (Barcelona, 2009–12). A hearing of the Russell-Sartre Tribunal was announced in Venice (23 Aug 2014) on human rights issues in the East Ukraine war.

Here’s Tariq and Vanessa Redgrave:

Tariq, if you drop me an e mail, I’ll explain why the revolution never happened.

Hilary Wainwright, another friend of Ralph’s, is a sociologist and activist who is best known for being editor of ‘Red Pepper’ magazine.

Hilary Wainwright’s father was Richard Wainwright, the Liberal MP for Colne Valley (in Yorkshire), 1966-70 and 1974-87. Richard Wainright was a contemporary of Jeremy Thorpe and Cyril Smith in Parliament. In 1953, Wainwright was elected to the Executive of the Liberal Party, and served as Party Chairman, 1970-72. He was Chairman of the Liberal Party Research Department (1968–70). After 1974, Wainwright focused on the financial management of the party. Wainwright worked with Eric Varley during the Lib-Lab pact of 1977-78. The Lib-Lab pact involved a lot of dealing between unscrupulous people in an attempt to hide everyone’s dirty washing. Little wonder it fell apart.

After Gerald Kaufperson died, it was discovered that Kaufperson had left his entire worldly goods to Eric Varley in his will (see post ‘News From Sicily’). Kaufperson’s children were gobsmacked, but the trauma wasn’t too great because Varley had pre-deceased Kaufperson, so they got the dosh after all, despite Kaufperson’s best efforts.

So Richard Wainwright was there throughout all the action: Jeremy telling people that he was planning to kill Norman, Norman telling people that Jeremy was doing terrible things to him and Lisa Nandy’s granddad just insulting Norman in response, Wainwright causing Thorpe’s resignation in 1976, when he called publicly on Thorpe to sue Norman Scott over the homosexual allegations that eventually figured in Thorpe’s trial, Jeremy standing trial and being acquitted after a farce (see post ‘My How Things Haven’t Changed’); the two Davids forming an Alliance involving paedophiles’ friends Woy and Shirl, David Steel dismissing Cyril Smith’s multiple serious sexual assaults on children as merely Cyril ‘spanking a few bare bottoms’ and stating that Jeremy’s trial was a tragedy for Jeremy, as opposed to a tragedy for the man whose dog was murdered and would have been murdered himself had the hit man’s gun not jammed.

Hilary: if I know about this, I’m sure that you do.

Richard Wainwright was a founding member of the Executive Committee of Charter 88. Some of those keeping quiet about the wrongdoing at St George’s Hospital Medical School were involved with Charter 88.

When the Liberal Party merged with the SDP to form the Liberal Democrats, Wainwright became a member working as President of the Yorkshire Federation of Liberal Democrats (1989–97).

Wainwright was a Methodist lay preacher. So he will have known child molester George Thomas who was one of the best known Methodist lay preachers in the UK for decades (see post ‘It Wasn’t On Our Radar’).

Between 1948 and 1958 Richard Wainwright served on the Leeds Group B Hospital Management Committee and was Chairman of the Arthington Hospital and Thorp Arch Hospital Committees. He served on the Committee for the Leeds, Skyrac and Morley Savings Bank Board of Managers and Leeds Library Committee. Further roles included Treasurer of the Leeds Invalid Children’s Aid Society and the Bethany House Free Church Probation Home.

Wainwright will have encountered Jimmy Savile.

Between 1959 and 1984 Wainwright was a member of the Joseph Rowntree Social Services Trust Limited (now the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust).

Wainwright’s wife Joyce was an active member of the Yorkshire Women’s Liberal Federation, fulfilling roles as both Chairman and President, and Chairman of the Colne Valley Women’s Liberal Council (1959–1987). She was also a member of the Executive of the national Women’s Liberal Federation. Joyce will have known as much as her husband, perhaps even more, because in those days ‘interfering with children’ was something that women heard about more often than men.

Hilary Wainwright’s brother, Martin,d worked for ‘The Guardian’ for 37 yrs, leaving in 2013. Martin was the Northern Editor of ‘The Guardian’ for 17 years until 2012. Hilary has occasionally contributed to ‘The Guardian’. Martin had published books on ‘countryside topics’ and on cars and he writes a blog about moths. He didn’t publish anything about Jimmy Savile or the Westminster Paedophile Ring, who I imagine impacted rather more on the nation’s life than moths ever have. Martin’s two sons Oliver and Tom are both journos, for ‘The Guardian’ and ‘The Economist’ respectively.

Hilary Wainwright was educated at the Mount School, York and St Anne’s College, Oxford. She took a further degree at St Antony’s College, Oxford, graduating in 1973. Until 1979, Wainwright was a research fellow at the Department of Sociology at Durham University. Prof David Byrne, a sociologist at Durham University, is someone who has worked in the north east for a long time and knew about organised child abuse in the north east of England but kept schtum about it (see post ‘I Warn You…’).

Hilary was a researcher at the Technology Department of the Open University, 1979-82. In 1982, she became Red Ken’s Deputy Chief Economic Adviser to the GLC, where she would have found out about all those kids in care from London Boroughs who were sent to children’s homes in north Wales.

Wainwright is a Fellow of the Transnational Institute, Amsterdam; Senior Research Associate at the International Centre for Participation Studies at the Department for Peace Studies, University of Bradford, UK and previously research fellow at the Centre for the Study of Global Governance at the LSE. She has also been a visiting Professor and Scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles; Havens Center, University of Wisconsin, Madison and Todai University, Tokyo. Formerly on the Editorial Board of ‘New Left Review’, Hilary was also on the National Council of the Catalyst think tank.

Hilary is ‘concerned with the emergence of new forms of democratic accountability within parties, movements and the state. She has documented examples of resurgent democratic movements in many countries around the world and the lessons they provide for progressive politics’.

OK Hil, I’ll call on you next re the resurgent democratic movement, because Wedgy Benn, Mike Mansfield and Tariq haven’t managed to launch the revolution yet. Let me know when you can fit it in among the columns for ‘The Guardian’.

In July 2015, Wainwright endorsed Jeremy Corbyn’s campaign in the Labour Party leadership election. She said: ‘To be honest, the Labour Party isn’t worth that valuable three quid. But a platform for someone who not only insists that there is an alternative, but stretches himself to support everyone who is fighting for it, is beyond anything that money can buy.’ Hilary added: ‘I believe Jeremy Corbyn should be supported not as an attempt to ‘reclaim the Labour Party’ but as a transition to a political organisation beyond the Labour Party and beyond parliamentary politics’.

Jeremy Corbyn formerly worked for NUPE, which represented many social workers and managers who presided over the abuse of children in their care. Dr Liz Davies, who blew the whistle on the abuse of children in the care of Islington Borough Council, maintains that she told Jeremy, the local MP, that the kids were being abused but Jeremy did not act. Some of the children abused by the Islington gang were killed and one social worker disappeared and was never seen again. Jeremy’s election agent, Derek Sawyer, was the business partner of Derek Slade, who was imprisoned for sexual assaults on a number of children (see post ‘The Turn Of The Screw’).

In 1971, Wainwright married the British philosopher Roy Bhaskar. They split up, remained close friends, but never divorced.

Whilst on the topic of Socialist Feminist Wimmin, I’ll mention the magical realist feminist novelist Angela Carter. Angela was very much part of the zeitgeist of the 1970s and 80s and wrote about matters such as the abuse and enslavement of wimmin and contributed her thoughts to the debate on porn. Angela grew up in south London and as a teenager suffered from anorexia. Angela was often held up to be someone with Caring Wimmin’s Ways. So imagine my surprise when I was working at St George’s Hospital Medical School and I discovered that the dreadful Dr Cathy Wilson had become friends with Angela Carter via a reading group. The Cathy who, along with her colleagues, was concealing a paedophile and trafficking ring in south London with links across Europe. Cathy really admired Angela’s Wimmin’s Writing.

One of Carter’s most well-known books is ‘Nights At The Circus’. Other volumes included ‘The Infernal Desire Machines Of Dr Hoffman’ and ‘The Bloody Chamber’.

Ralph Miliband died in 1994. He is buried in Highgate Cemetery, close to Karl Marx. My friends who were targeted by a gangster and then forced out of their jobs at the Royal Television Society and the BBC after they found out what was happening to me in north Wales lived just down the road from Highgate Cemetery when they were targeted. They were members of the Labour Party and campaigned for Tessa Jowell no less, lived among the lefties in Camden yet no-one stood by them. See post ‘The Turn Of The Screw’.

The Milibands lived in Primrose Hill and later in Bolton Gardens, South Kensington.

Ralph’s elder son, David, was Labour MP for South Shields, 2001-13, one of Blair’s allies up there in the north east, at the site of one of the big paedophile gangs with direct links to Dafydd et al. David served in the Cabinet, from 2007-10 as Foreign Secretary, during which time he wowed Hillary Clinton. That was before Hillary just knew that she would be breaking a glass ceiling, until America decided that they’d rather have Trump than another sodding Clinton. The Clinton had elbowed every other Democrat possibility out of the way because she just knew that being President was her right, so the Republicans got in.

For details of David Miliband’s unscrupulous struggle to climb the greasy pole, see posts ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’. David is now failing to make headway re the Syria crisis, in his capacity as CEO of the International Rescue Committee. The Syrians are being barrel bombed by a former London Top Doc (see post ‘The Rakes’ Progress’) and we know how much trouble politicians have saying no to Top Docs who are killing people.

Ralph’s younger son Ed’s climb to the top was as unprincipled as that of his brother, although it was actually Ed who beat his brother – although David was perceived to be more able – in the Labour Party leadership contest in Sept 2010.

Ed was elected as Labour MP for Doncaster North in 2005. So once again, Blair ensured that a safe pair of hands ended up in a constituency with a problem of long standing child sexual abuse. Ed served as Minister for the Third Sector in the Cabinet Office, 2007-08, in which role he was party to the excesses of the Third Sector, including their ruthless fundraising methods, their collusion with the abuse of vulnerable people and their terror of challenging Gov’t. In Oct 2008 Ed was promoted to the position of Secretary of the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

It was Ed who drafted the 2010 Labour Party manifesto. Labour lost the 2010 General Election. So the only sensible course of action for the Labour Party, was to, just a few months later, select Ed as their leader. The Windbag announced that he would endorse Ed’s campaign, saying that Ed had ‘the capacity to inspire people’ and that he had ‘strong values and the ability to ‘lift’ people’. Other senior Labour figures who backed Ed included Tony Benn and former Deputy Leaders Fattersley and Margaret Beckett in her caravan.

If all Labour supporters known to me put their heads in their hands and said ‘Oh God no, Ed’s going to be a disaster, we’ll lose the fucking election now’, why couldn’t Benn, Fattersely and Beckett have seen it? Obviously I know why the Windbag couldn’t, the Windbag has a well-developed inability to foresee an election thrashing.

Li’l old Ed certainly got off to a flying start in politics. In the late 1980s, before he took his A levels, he worked as an intern for Tony Benn, a family friend. After A levels, Ed went to Corpus Christie, Oxford, where he became JCR President. I know someone who knew Ed in those days and Ed gave them a bollocking for voting for what Ed claimed was the ‘establishment’ candidate in a University election. So is this person now filling his boots in the financial services, pursuing an establishment job or beavering away in the staid civil service, unlike the Rebel Ed? No. He’s an academic at Bangor University publishing excellent work but he also has an outstanding track record with regard to mentoring and supporting disadvantaged students or students with difficulties. He has been bullied in the workplace, partly because of his insistence on defending other members of staff who were treated unfairly and on one occasion because of his support for me as the paedophiles’ friends came after my blood. He showed rather more strength than your dad’s mates did Ed. This academic’s Head of Dept who behaved so appallingly was married to one of the UCU reps, a revolutionary Marxist. Oh the irony. Furthermore, my former colleague didn’t feel able to make representation about all the gross experiences to which he was subjected by his Head of Dept, because some of it could only be interpreted as sexual harassment and he felt that a male member of staff could not really make a complaint about a female Head of Dept sexually harassing him. He even wondered if he was misinterpreting things. I did explain that he wasn’t, when a female Head of Dept kneels on a desk in front of a male member of staff and shoves her cleavage in his face, she does know what she is doing. Didn’t you Stephanie Marriott? As she did when she knowingly tried to block research grant applications that I had written with the man whom Marriott was doing all that she could to drive out of his job.

Come on Ed, send out a #Me Too in support of your old neighbour at Corpus Christie!

In 1992 Ed was employed as a researcher on C4 for Andrew Rawnsley, on the programme ‘A Week In Politics’. There was at the time a police investigation into allegations that a VIP paedophile ring was in operation in north Wales. The ring which so many of Ed’s dad’s mates knew about.

In 1993 Ed became the policy researcher and speechwriter to Harriet. The Harriet who was MP for Peckham, where my mates were rehoused after they had been hounded out of Archway by a gangster. Peckham was positively dangerous, their flat was broken into within three weeks of them moving in, then a woman dosed up to the eye-balls on heroin drove into one of my friends and injured her and the local GP accused my friend of malingering to obtain compensation (see post ‘The Turn Of The Screw’).

Harriet fought election campaigns on her support for the NHS. Harriet’s dad was a Harley Street doctor.

In 1994, Ed worked for Gordon Brown, under the new Party leader Blair!

Ed was Gordon’s SPAD, 1997-02. Up in north Wales, the Waterhouse Inquiry came and went and the corpses of former kids in care and psych patients were discovered on a regular basis. All those metropolitan revolutionaries who knew people in north Wales from their visits to the region remained silent.

In July 2002, it was announced that Ed would take a 12-month unpaid sabbatical from HM Treasury to be a visiting scholar at Harvard. He spent his time at Harvard teaching economics and stayed there after Sept 2003 for an additional semester teaching a course titled ‘What’s Left? The Politics of Social Justice’. During this time, in the spirit of social justice, Primrose Hill dwelling-Oxford-educated-son of a well-known Professor Ed was granted ‘access’ to Senator John Kerry and reported to Gordon Brown on the presidential hopeful’s progress.

In 2002 in north Wales, the paedophile gang that Ed’s dad’s friends all knew about embarked upon yet another attempt to have me imprisoned on the basis of their perjury (see post ‘Interesting Happenings In The Legal System’).

After Ed returned to the UK in Jan 200, Gordon Brown appointed him Chairman of HM Treasury’s Council of Economic Advisers with specific responsibility for directing the UK’s long-term economic planning.

In early 2005, Ed resigned his advisory role to HM Treasury to stand for election. Gordon Brown visited Doncaster North during the General Election campaign to support Ed. Ed was elected on 5 May 2005.

It was about at this time that John McTernan’s brother-in-law stole my computer.

On 27 Sept 2013, the ‘Daily Mail’ published an article disputing Ralph Miliband’s patriotism with the headline ‘The man who hated Britain’. Three days later, after negotiations, the ‘Mail’ published a response by Ed describing his father’s life and saying that the Daily Mail’s article was character assassination. At the same time as publishing this response, the newspaper reiterated its assertion and published an editorial refusing to apologise. The Labour leader’s office responded that Ed: ‘wanted the ‘Daily Mail’ to treat his late father’s reputation fairly. Rather than acknowledge it has smeared his father, the newspaper has repeated its original claim. This simply diminishes the ‘Daily Mail’ further. It will be for people to judge whether this newspaper’s treatment of a war veteran, Jewish refugee from the Nazis and distinguished academic reflects the values and decency we should all expect in our political debate.’

Just for the record Ed, I don’t think that your dad hated Britain either and it is only the ‘Daily Mail’ that could ever equate being a Marxist sociologist with ‘hating Britain’. However I do think that your dad was a grade A hypocrite who, along with many of his friends, turned his back on some desperate people in need because helping them would have involved going public on some very unpalatable truths about serious crime and abuse in swathes of the welfare state, including the NHS. Your dad died at the age of 70 after heart surgery had given him a few extra years. He wasn’t beaten and raped in a children’s home and then fitted up and transferred to Risley Remand Centre where he was then murdered; he wasn’t unlawfully imprisoned in a dungeon in an asylum in the middle of the Welsh hills and he wasn’t even forced out of two careers and denied all NHS treatment because he had complained about a group of Top Doctors who were running a trafficking ring. Your dad suffered when he was young Ed, but he suffered at the hands of the Nazis. No-one then spent a lifetime telling him that the Nazis were caring people doing their best and that he was a lying bastard for suggesting that they weren’t.

Ed and David did not experience disadvantage when they were young. Ralph made damn sure that they never ended up in a kids home in north Wales or on the receiving end of Dafydd. Instead they bagged jobs as interns for Tony Benn.

Ed had another scrap with the press – the ‘Mail On Sunday’ – when it was found that a reporter had intruded on the private funeral of Ed’s uncle. Lord Rothermere and the Mail On Sunday’s Editor apologised for this. The funeral concerned was that of Uncle Harry aka Prof Harry Keen, a Top Doc at Guy’s and Tommy’s. Some of Uncle Harry’s colleagues were among the highest earners in medicine, holding NHS consultancy posts and running Harley Street practices. A number of Uncle Harry’s colleagues knew Dafydd et al and were concealing their crimes. Dafydd et al weren’t pilfering from the office Ed, they ran a paedophile gang and killed witnesses whilst your Uncle’s mates ignored it and drove down to Harley Street in their Rolls Royces.

What’s Left? Nothing Ed, you and your extended network have had the lot.

The Boxers are all dead Ed. They’ve worked their arses off, they’ve been bled dry and flogged off to the knackers yard. There are only Napoleans, Snowballs and Squealers left. They can’t do anything, they won’t work hard and they all want to be leader. What are you going to do?

Despite Ed losing the election, the UK’s splendid system of patronage and cronyism meant that Ed was allowed to nominate a few who would be elevated to the peerage in the bun fest. One such person nominated by Ed was Spencer Livermore. Spencer ran Ed’s campaign. Ed’s disastrous, failed campaign. So naturally Spencer was given a seat in the Lords.

Spencer Elliot Livermore, Baron Livermore (born 12 June 1975) is a Labour Party strategy and communications professional ie. he organises campaigns which fail.

Spencer served as an adviser to the New Labour Gov’t, 1997-08, as Director of Strategy to the PM and as Chief Strategy Adviser to the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Anyone remember that huge financial crash which happened when Spencer and Gordon were steering the ship?  Harriet thought that if only Lehman Brothers had been called Lehman Sisters it would have all been avoided, but I suspect that there might have been something rather more amiss than that.

Spencer also served as a senior adviser on four General Elections campaigns: 1997, 2001, 2005, and 2015. ‘The Guardian’ described him as one of the most experienced election campaigners in the Labour Party. Philip Gould described him in ‘The Unfinished Revolution’ as one of seven people who devised the strategy for the election-winning 2001 and 2005 General Election campaigns.

Spencer, do you know anything about that computer of mine which John McTernan’s brother-in-law nicked? Or about Betty Williams, one of Blair’s babes, getting her minders to throw me out of Tesco in Bangor when she was canvassing in there before the 2005 General Election and I asked her a few questions about deaths and patient harm in the north Wales NHS?

Livermore grew up in Essex and studied at the LSE, graduating in 1996.

During his time with New Labour, Livermore also worked on a number of US congressional campaigns.

Spencer is gay and is married to Seb Dance MEP, who represents the London region for the Labour Party. Seb was born in Wandsworth in Dec 1981. So Seb probably grew up just down the road from St George’s Hospital when the staff of that institution – many of whom lived in Wandsworth – were colluding with a trafficking ring. By the late 1980s, Dafydd and Lucille in north Wales had a direct link to Wandsworth Social Services. The Director of Education for Wandsworth, Donald Naismith, was known to be a paedophile and was abusing kids in care. The staff of St George’s and Wandsworth Social Services were also selling and distributing Class A drugs. The gang operating out of St George’s/Wandsworth was a pan-European operation.

Seb, many of the people who are named on my documents relating to these crimes are not only still alive but they are working in medicine/the social services, many of them in London. In your capacity as an MEP for London, should you not be taking an interest in this?

Michael Mansfield lived in Wandsworth and was someone else who ignored it all.

Seb went to Manchester University and worked as a sabbatical officer with the SU. When Seb was at Manchester, the mental health services in Manchester were dangerous, patients were dying and there was also intimidation of staff who had dared speak out about this by their NHS colleagues AND union officials.

Before Seb became an MEP, he worked for the charidee Action Aid. One of the mental health patients whom I knew in north Wales who was unlawfully detained and wrecked by huge doses of anti-psychotics etc had previously lived in London and worked for Action Aid. She told me a few very worrying things about Action Aid Seb, but of course anything she said was dismissed by the Angels because she was mad. On one occasion she maintained that Dr Tony Francis arrived on the ward late at night and exposed himself to her. Her parents – who were her carers – were livid and demanded an investigation. They were told that Francis was not in the hospital that night. I don’t know whether he was or was not, but I do know that this young woman had been originally sectioned by Jackie Brandt, a Gwynedd social worker who had detained me unlawfully just months previously. I also know that Dafydd turned up at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh to see me at midnight, when I was in bed. Dafydd’s late night visit was not recorded on my file anywhere.

By the way Seb, did you know John Westendorp of Action Aid? Because I did! He came and stayed at my place on Anglesey in 2000. He’d come to north Wales because a Hergest patient who was a talented artist donated an oil painting to be sold to raise money for Action Aid. The artist originally offered the painting to Ysbyty Gwynedd, but weeks later the Angel Bridget Lloyd perjured herself and had him arrested, so he withdrew his offer and gave the painting to Action Aid instead.

Funny Seb working for Action Aid, what with me having had contact with them before he was employed by Action Aid! And a Hergest-paedophile gang link as well!

Seb was an adviser to the Secretary of State for N Ireland, 2007-09. Which was Shaun Woodward, who began his political career as a Tory MP. Before he entered Parliament, Woodward worked as a researcher and producer for BBC TV News and Current Affairs on the programmes ‘That’s Life’, ‘Panorama’ and ‘Newsnight’, 1982-90. So Shaun worked for ‘That’s Life’ when I wrote to Esther about the abuse of patients at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh, when Esther launched her mental health campaign in the late 1980s.

From 1991–2, Shaun was Director of Communications for the Conservative Party. While the first police investigation of a possible VIP paedophile ring in north Wales was taking place. And of course while my career and the careers of three other witnesses were ruined (see post ‘The Turn Of The Screw). And when relatives and friends of senior members of the Tory Party were turning up in Somerset giving Coutts cheques to people who knew what was happening to me in north Wales (see post ‘Upper Class Twit Of The Year – Shooting Themselves’). Hey Shaun, do you remember Feb 1991, when Lilibet knighted Peter Morrison, a member of the north Wales/Cheshire paedophile ring? You can’t have not noticed, Morrison had run Thatcher’s leadership campaign for her just weeks before, but she lost to Major.

Woodward was selected as Douglas Hurd’s successor as Conservative candidate for Witney at the 1997 General Election. I wonder if Shaun ever got round to chatting to Douglas about all the criminality in north Wales that Douglas concealed when he was Home Secretary? Or how Douglas covered up events at the Kincora Boys’ Home when Douglas was Secretary of State for N Ireland.

Woodward then left the Tories and joined the ruling Labour Party in 1999, after William Hague sacked Woodward from the front bench for supporting the repeal of Section 28. Woodward was given a job co-ordinating the Labour Party’s 2001 General Election campaign. Woodward’s local Conservative constituency association requested that he resign and run again in a by-election under the Labour banner. Woodward continued to represent his constituency for two years.

Woodward’s defection was welcomed by Blair, Mandy et al, but he was strongly criticised by others from both the Tory and Labour Parties.

In the June 2001 General Election, Woodward decided not to contest his Witney seat and instead found a safe Labour seat in St Helen’s South. Chris Mullin wrote with shock of ‘the awful Shaun Woodward’, calling ‘the New Labour elite parachuting [Woodward] into a safe seat … one of New Labour’s vilest stitch-ups … made my flesh creep’. St Helen’s was part of Dafydd’s Merseyside empire (see post ‘Reports Of Death Were Greatly Exaggerated’). In May 2005, Woodward was re-elected for St Helen’s South.

After the 2005 election, Woodward was appointed junior Minister at the N Ireland Office, under Peter Hain. In the May 2006 reshuffle, Blair named Woodward junior Minister at the Dept for Culture, Media and Sport. On 28 June 2007, in his first Cabinet, newly appointed PM Gordon Brown appointed Woodward as the N Ireland Secretary, replacing Peter Hain. Woodward chose not to receive a ministerial salary because of his personal wealth. As N Ireland Secretary, Woodward reportedly became a close confidant of Gordon Brown. This was largely due to Woodward’s previous first hand experiences of the beleaguered Gov’t of John Major.

Woodward was retained as Shadow Secretary of State for N Ireland by Labour leader Ed for just under a year.

In Nov 2013 Woodward announced that he would stand down from Parliament at the next General Election. Ed wrote to him: ‘In 1999, you made an incredibly hard decision to cross the floor of the House and join the Labour party. It took personal courage and political commitment, and our party will forever be grateful to you.’

Woodward married Camilla Davan Sainsbury, daughter of former Conservative MP Tim Sainsbury of the supermarkets in May 1987; they announced their separation after 28 years on 20 Dec 2015. They have one son and three daughters, including the food blogger Ella Woodward.

Lord David Sainsbury is Sir Tim Sainsbury’s cousin. David Sainsbury gave millions to the Labour Party and was appointed Science Minister, two events which were, as stressed by Charlie Falconer, unrelated. David founded the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health, which at one point was virtually dictating mental health policy under Blair and was shamelessly plugged in teaching resources for the NVQ in Mental Health. David Sainsbury was appointed Chancellor of Cambridge University in 2011 after donating more than £100 million to the institution. More recently, Lord David has bankrolled research into neuroscience at UCL. For further details regarding whom David is funding, see post ‘Inside Information About A Hergest Unit Death’.

After leaving his wife, Woodward was reported to be in a relationship with Luke Redgrave, a film cameraman and the grandson of the actor Sir Michael Redgrave, Vanessa’s father. In 2016 Woodward and Redgrave were living together in The Hamptons, New York State.

In March 2001, Woodward was said to be the only Labour MP with a butler.

Woodward currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees at the Human Dignity Trust and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors at the Hamptons International Film Festival.

After Gordon Brown failed to call a General Election, Spencer Livermore left Downing Street in 2008 and joined Saatchi & Saatchi as Senior Strategist, shaping strategy for clients including Eurostar, the BBC and Asda. Livermore also became a Director at London-based communications consultancy Blue Rubicon. He developed insight-based communication strategies for multinational companies, including Shell, Coca-Cola, GSK, Lloyds Banking Group, Centrica and McDonalds.

In 2012, Spencer set up Thirty Six Strategy, where he applied the techniques of political campaign strategy to advise clients on their corporate and brand positioning.

In Dec 2013 Livermore returned to the political arena when he was appointed the Labour Party’s General Election Campaign Director for its unsuccessful 2015 General Election. In Nov 2015 Spencer gave an interview on BBC Radio 4 setting out why Labour lost that election. I presumed that it had something to do with the Party leader being a tosser, who surrounded himself with other tossers and the whole lot of them enraging the nation when they openly discussed which tosser was going to have which Cabinet job weeks before the election. Dyed in the wool Tories weren’t going to vote Labour anyway and although Spencer might not have noticed this, thousands of potential Labour voters have now had a bellyful of strategic communication advisers specialising in corporate brand positioning. It is bollocks Spencer and it’s losing the Labour Party elections.

A Study In Tyranny

I have mentioned before how often in the biographies of the paedophiles’ friends in Wales that a degree in law from Aberystwyth University seems to feature and how many people who are among the friends and relatives of Rhodri Morgan have passed through Swansea University. In terms of the Mr Bigs from further afield than Wales who have assisted paedophiles’ friends another two educational institutions are a running theme – New College, Oxford and Ruskin College, Oxford. As with Aberystwyth University, when I first noticed this I presumed that perhaps it was simply a reflection of the cohorts from which the people I was researching were drawn – many influential people were educated at Oxford and Ruskin College educated scores of people from disadvantaged backgrounds with links to the labour and trade union movements. Then I looked harder and realised that the names of these colleges were cropping up so frequently that the most likely explanation was the operation of networks. Where there is a network there is usually a small number of massively influential people involved in that network.

New College popped up frequently when I was researching for the post of Jean Trumpington – the junior Minister who appointed Jimmy Savile to the position of general manager at Broadmoor Hospital (see post ’95 Glorious Years!’). Trumpington and her pals were usually high Tories and aristocrats to boot, but many CVs of theirs began with ‘Eton, New College Oxford’. New College is one of the wealthiest of the Oxford Colleges and has formal ties with Eton. Then I noticed New College on a few CVs of other politicians as well. However what really prompted me to do a bit more exploring was discovering that after graduating, Peter Mandelson had landed his job as a researcher for the TUC as a result of the recommendation from one Alan Bullock – who was an historian at New College, Oxford. Mandy’s job with the TUC was the beginning of his rapid ascendency to the position of principal influential scheming bastard in the Labour Party. Furthermore Mandy was a very busy scheming bastard long before Blair became leader – Mandy was recruited on Neil Kinnock’s watch as Director of Communications for the Labour Party, after he had worked as a producer at LWT following his stint at the TUC. At one point Mandy shared a flat with Julie Hall, Kinnock’s Press Secretary.

When Mandy was highly recommended to the TUC by Alan Bullock, the General Secretary of the TUC was Len Murray, the man who sold the Grunwick workers down the river, although they really were one group of workers who deserved the full backing of the union movement (see post ‘News From Sicily’). Len Murray had studied at New College himself, in the 1940s. One of his tutors had been Richard Crossman who was the Labour MP for Coventry East, 1945-74. Crossman was a Bevanite who was a member of the Labour Party’s NEC, 1952-67 and Chair of the Labour Party, 1960-61. Crossman became a member of Wilson’s Gov’t – he was Lord President of the Council and Leader of the Commons, 1966-68 and then Secretary of State for Health and Social Security, 1968-70. So Crossman will have known about the abuses at the North Wales Hospital Denbigh at the time – as well as the abuses in other similar institutions – and the abuses of children in care or in facilities for disabled people. Some of those abuses resulted in substantial numbers of people dying – which was then concealed under successive Gov’ts. Crossman was a contributor to the New Statesman for many years and became Editor, 1970-72.

Crossman had close connections to the security services – during World War II he had worked for the Special Operations Executive (SOE), producing anti-Nazi propaganda for broadcast and at one point he was the Assistant Chief of the Psychological Warfare Division.

The man who recommended Mandy to Len Murray, Alan Bullock, was perhaps most famous for his volumes ‘Hitler: A Study In Tyranny’ (1952) and ‘Hitler and Stalin: Parallel Lives’ (1991). Bullock was Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University, 1969-73 and Master of St Catherine’s College, Oxford, 1962-81.

Bullock grew up in Lancashire. His father Frank was Minister at a chapel in Bradford and was himself a Liberal who campaigned for Lloyd George. Alan went to Bradford Grammar School and was influenced by Bradford’s well-known Liberalism. Bullock then studied at Wadham College, Oxford and in 1938 became a research assistant to Winston Churchill. During World War II Bullock worked for four years at the BBC’s Overseas Service – which suggests that he also was working for the security services. He then became a Fellow at New College.

Bullock was founding Master of St Catherine’s College. During the 1950s he developed the College from the St Catherine’s Society – which had been established for students who were too poor to join a ‘proper’ university college – into a fully fledged Oxford foundation. Bullock raised an enormous amount of money for the time – £2 million – by persuading companies such as Esso and Lockhead to fund buildings and scholarships. Bullock’s obituaries mention that he ‘trod on toes’ whilst doing this. There are plenty of clues in Bullock’s obituaries that point to him being an intimidating old git – he was known as ‘Bullock by name, bullock by nature’, there are references to his booming voice, to his ‘imposing’ character, to his ability to deal with ‘unruly students’ and that whilst at the BBC he ‘learned and enjoyed the arts of black propaganda’. Photos of him available online bear a weird resemblance to Bruce Forsyth.

Bullock was a Trustee on the Board of the Observer, 1957-69 and then a Director, 1977-81. He was on the Board of the Tate and then Chairman, 1973-80.

Bullock was decorated with the award of Chevalier, the Legion of Honour in 1970 and was awarded a knighthood in 1972. In 1976 he bagged his peerage as a reward for Chairing the Committee of Inquiry On Industrial Democracy. Which was rather odd because when Bullock submitted his Report in 1977 – which recommended workers’ participation in industry with workers sitting on company Boards – Jim Callaghan ignored every recommendation and forgot about it, although Callaghan had commissioned the Inquiry. Indeed at the time that Bullock submitted his Report, Bullock’s mate Len Murray was shafting the Grunwick workers and the Metropolitan Police’s SPG were duffing up their supporters.

Bullock discovered his true home in 1981 when he founded the SDP. Along with the likes of Dr Death and Shirl. The Shirl who’s union APEX had been recommended to the Grunwick workers by the TUC as being an organisation which would defend their interests, but did not. Perhaps a major clue that Bullock was considered a safe pair of hands was that in 1972 Thatcher, in her capacity as Secretary of State for Education in Heath’s Gov’t, commissioned Bullock to Chair an Inquiry into reading standards in schools.

Ah well not to worry, the migrant workers – mostly women – who had been so badly treated by Grunwick were stuffed over and ended up living in’t shoebox in’t middle of road, but at least Bullock, Shirl, Len and Sunny Jim ended up in the Lords. Trebles all around!

Bullock had a partner in crime – his wife Hilda aka ‘Nibby’. Nibby had been a schoolfriend of Bullocks at Bradford Grammar. Nibby was a graduate of St Anne’s College, Oxford. The Bullocks settled permanently in Oxford after the war – Nibby was a key figure in the Oxford Bach choir for over forty years and between 1964-85 sat as a magistrate in Oxford. Nibby’s obituaries observed that she was a ‘staunch supporter of her husband’ in his role as VC and that she challenged students who had the temerity to protest over ‘secret files’. What secret files these are the obituaries do not explain, but it sounds as though Bullock and Nibby had been doing some rather unacceptable things and that those unruly students had found out. No doubt when Bullock had them arrested and charged Nibby was on the bench. Nibby was capable of being quite unruly herself when she wanted – she was a ‘prominent activist’ in the ‘Tin Hat’ campaign which opposed proposals to build a bypass in north Oxford. No doubt the road was going to spoil the view from her house, so Nibby was galvanised into action. For many years Nibby taught at Wychwood School in north Oxford, the school from which Dr Ann Dally – dealer to the Royals – was expelled (see post ‘Little Things Hitting Each Other’).

The impression that one is left with is that one couldn’t so much as fart in Oxford without the say-so of the Bullocks.

I have found a publication from St Catherine’s College which is a round up of College news from 2009. It mentions that Nibby, wife of the founder of St Catherine’s, had passed away. There is also a feature about one of the most exciting events that there had been at St Catherine’s in 2009 – a visit and a lecture from a St Catherine’s old boy, one Lord Peter Mandelson, First Secretary of State, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills and Lord President of the Council. That was the year when Gordon appointed Mandy to run the whole planet, which almost certainly contributed to Labour’s defeat at the polls in 2010. Mandy had returned to St Catherine’s to address the Oxford University Labour Club – of which Mandy had been a member when he had been a student at St Catherine’s, 1973-76. The Co-Chair of the OULB, a Ben Lyons, was thrilled at Mandy dropping in, stating that it was ‘really exciting’ and that Mandy enjoyed his ‘celebrity treatment’. I imagine that Mandy insisted upon celebrity treatment. I googled Ben Lyons earlier expecting him to be a Labour MP by now, but no he’s not – probably because he was daft enough to align himself with Mandy. However Ben did write an article for the New Statesman last year in which he provided a free plug for Left Foot Forward, the blog founded by the dreadful Will Straw, Jack’s son, who spends his free time blacking up and dancing with a troupe who go under the name of the The Nutters.

So the predecessors and architects of New Labour sprang from the loins of New College, Oxford…

In the way that the TUC and some people masquerading as workers’ friends allowed themselves to be hijacked and utilised by people who were anything but friends of those having a hard time, sadly it seems that there were a few vipers in the nest at Ruskin College.

Ruskin College has historical connections with the labour and union movement, it has for decades been a symbol of workers’ education and prided itself on giving educational opportunities to people who were disadvantaged or who did not have the qualifications necessary to gain entry to other universities. Unions have sponsored numerous people to study at Ruskin and a healthy number of Labour MPs gained qualifications from Ruskin.

Sadly however, like other institutions which were established to help less privileged people, something went wrong at Ruskin and it left a terrible legacy. I do not know for how long there was a problem at Ruskin, but the scale of the problem will be obvious if I tell readers that in 1965 Peter Howarth – one of the senior members of staff at Bryn Estyn who eventually went to prison for sexually abusing boys in his care – met Granville (known as Matt) Arnold, the Head of Bryn Estyn, at Ruskin College. Matt Arnold was employed as a part-time tutor at Ruskin and Howarth was a student. Arnold and Howarth were not working at Bryn Estyn at the time, although by 1966 Peter Howarth was teaching at Axwell School in Gateshead under Matt Arnold who was the Head. After Howarth went to prison it was revealed that there had been complaints of brutality and sexual abuse on the part of Howarth when he had been working in Gateshead.

Matt Arnold wasn’t appointed Head of Bryn Estyn until May 1973. It was at that time still an approved school run directly by the Home Office. John Allen had by then established the Bryn Alyn Community at a location nearby, where children were also abused on a massive scale. Children and staff moved between Bryn Estyn and Bryn Alyn, the institutions were part of the same paedophile network. In Oct 1973 Bryn Estyn was redesignated as a local authority children’s home and in Nov 1973 Arnold gave his former colleague Peter Howarth a job as ‘third in charge’ there. In 1974 Sir Peter Morrison was elected as Tory MP for Chester – Morrison was one of the people who was known to be abusing children in care in north Wales. Morrison’s family came from Wiltshire. His father was John, 1st Baron Margadale, Tory MP for Salisbury, 1945-65. John Morrison was Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire, 1969-81 and Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire, 1983.

In 1976 Gordon Anglesea became an Inspector based in Wrexham (the town just a few miles away from Bryn Estyn and Bryn Alyn) and in 1978 Anglesea was given responsibility for the area in which Bryn Estyn was located. Gordon Anglesea eventually went to prison for abusing children in care, including boys from Bryn Estyn.

So if one thinks in terms of organised child abuse, it was all in place in north east Wales from the appointment of Matt Arnold onwards. There was abuse at Bryn Estyn before Matt Arnold of course – he only arrived there after there had been complaints about his predecessors and they had been removed. But a look at the histories of Matt Arnold, Peter Howarth and others whom Arnold saw fit to employ before they got near Bryn Estyn simply emphasises what very rash, indeed inexplicable, appointments these were.

A number of those who were at Ruskin as either staff or students whilst Arnold and Howarth were there became very well known. A John Prescott received his diploma from Ruskin in 1965 and in 1967 one Dennis Skinner attended Ruskin after completing a course at Sheffield University. In 1969 Skinner joined Derbyshire County Council and in 1970 Skinner was elected MP for Bolsover in Derbyshire. Some of the staff of the north Wales children’s homes who had abused children had previously worked for Derbyshire County Council. Skinner was a member of the Labour Party’s NEC for 30 years and was Chair of the Labour Party, 1988-89. Unusually for someone on the left of the party, Skinner had a good relationship with Blair. The Blair who promoted so many people who had concealed child abuse, whose wife’s lawyer colleagues had ignored and concealed child abuse and who appointed Prescott as Deputy PM. Prescott of course was MP for Hull – where there was a problem with organised child abuse. Mandelson – after a stint as a Lambeth Councillor whilst kids in the care of Lambeth were being abused both in Lambeth homes and in north Wales where they were sent on placement – eventually became the MP for Hartlepool. Near Gateshead. Some of those who concealed the abuse of children in north Wales had previously worked in the north east of England (see post ‘The Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Connection’).

Obviously I have no idea whether Prezza and Skinner knew Matt Arnold and Peter Howarth from their time at Ruskin, but Ruskin is famous for its alumni association for both students and staff. People who have studied at Ruskin talk about that being the way in which they got to know so many Labour MPs. Prezza himself was obviously up for socialising and networking with other students because he is a former member of the Ruskin Students’ Union, as was Jack Ashley when he was at Ruskin in the late 1940s.

Jack Ashley was Labour MP for Stoke-on-Trent South, 1966-92 and then sat in the Lords. His daughter Jackie Ashley was a student at St Anne’s College, Oxford – who knows, she might have sung along in the Oxford Bach choir with Nibby – and became a political journalist. After graduating Jackie was a trainee journo with the BBC. She went on to work for the BBC – including on Newsnight – TV-am, Channel 4, ITN and has written for the Guardian and the New Statesman. Jackie is now President of Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge. Jackie is married to BBC political journo Andrew Marr. Andrew Marr is a graduate of Trinity Hall, Cambridge. Other Trinity Hall alumni include Labour MP and then peer Greville Janner, who molested children in care from Leicester and Geoffrey Howe, who was Solicitor General under Ted Heath and a member of Margaret Thatcher’s Gov’t whilst they all concealed the fact that their colleague Peter Morrison was molesting children in north Wales and Cheshire. In 2011 Andrew Marr obtained a High Court super-injunction to prevent anyone publishing the name of the female journo whom he was having an extra-marital affair with. Just imagine what lengths he’d go to in order to prevent anyone finding out that he, his wife, or his wife’s dad might have moved in the same circles as a few paedophiles.

George Woodcock, General Secretary of the TUC, 1960-69 was a Ruskin alumnus, as was Judy Fryd, who founded MENCAP. Fryd observed that she ‘befriended many future Labour politicians’ through Ruskin. Like a number of other people who have gone in for charity work in a big way, although Fryd undoubtedly identified much that was very wrong with society’s attitude towards and care of people with learning disabilities, there are many worrying aspects to her campaigning. She gave birth to a learning disabled daughter at a time when if that happened parents were told to institutionalise their child, forget about it and have another baby. Fryd ignored such advice although her daughter did end up institutionalised before she was a teenager. Fryd realised that the institution was the wrong place for her daughter – she was placed in a mental hospital and Fryd was ‘amused’ to see her daughter assaulting other patients when they greeted her and knocking the elderly mentally ill over. So it was obviously a laugh a minute for the other patients. It transpires that Fryd’s daughter had what is now categorised as autism. Fryd was appointed to a commission on mental illness. An area in which Fryd had no knowledge or experience except for the time when she had a good laugh whilst institutionalised mentally ill people were assaulted by her daughter. In 1991 Fryd was honoured at the 1991 Labour Party conference for her voluntary work. MENCAP was by then a huge organisation, with a turnover of millions and thousands of employees. What no-one – including Fryd – admitted was that learning disabled people were still regularly physically and sexually assaulted in long stay institutions where thousands of them lived and efforts at community care usually resulted in chaos and yes, abuse. It has now been revealed that abuse of residents occurred in homes run by MENCAP but it was concealed.

The sociologist Peter Wilmott was a Ruskin graduate. Wilmott was Chair of Sociology at the University of East London and carried out some very famous community studies in East London. He founded the Institute for Community Studies with Michael Young. Wilmott’s wife Phyllis was an almoner, which was what is now called a social worker. Wilmott actually had a number of connections to organisations run by the paedophiles’ friends – all references to this have disappeared from the internet in the last few weeks. Peter Wilmott died in 2000 so I wonder who is preserving his reputation.

Other Ruskin alumni include Owen Jones the Guardian columnist who cares deeply about everybody but never mentions a word about the abuse and neglect of mental health patients by the NHS; Judith Cummins the Labour MP for Bradford South and Peter Sawford the former Labour MP for Kettering, 1997-05, who was a student at the University of Leicester in the early 1980s when Greville Janner and Frank Beck were abusing the local kids in care. Phil’s son Andy Sawford is now the Labour MP for Corby.

A number of high profile people taught at Ruskin. Peter Donaldson, an economist and broadcaster who lectured at Leeds University from 1957 and then Leicester University, 1960-64, spent six months teaching at Ruskin in 1965. He then taught at Osmania University in Hyderabad until 1967, then returning to teach at Ruskin until the early 1990s. In the early 1980s Donaldson worked for Yorkshire TV and the newly created Channel 4. Like Ted Heath, Donaldson was a graduate of Balliol, Oxford, although Heath was some 18 years older than Donaldson.

Lord Bill McCarthy was another well-known person who taught at Ruskin. McCarthy was a specialist in industrial relations. The shop workers union USDAW – who sponsored the MP Sir Ray Powell who undoubtedly knew what the paedophiles of north Wales were up to but never uttered a word about them (see post ‘News From Sicily’) – sponsored McCarthy when he studied at Ruskin. In 1965 McCarthy was Research Director of the Royal Commission on Trade Unions and Employers Associations, which was set up by Wilson’s Gov’t.

Raphael Samuel also taught at Ruskin from 1962 until his death in 1996. Samuel pioneered a form of Marxist ‘history from below’ which I have an interest in and a lot of time for. Samuel was also a Professor at the University of East London and was a member of the Communist Party Historians Group, along with E.P.Thompson, Eric Hobsbawm et al. Samuel founded the Partisan Coffee House in Soho in 1956 which was the meeting place of the New Left. Raphael Samuel founded the History Workshop movement at Ruskin, which attracted many high calibre lecturers and influenced scores of students.

Donald Selbourne the political theorist who also wrote works for the theatre taught at Ruskin, 1966-86. Whilst at Ruskin Selbourne wrote for New Society, New Statesman, the Indie and the Guardian – post-Ruskin he wrote for the Times, the Sunday Times, the Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph. David Selbourne encountered the sort of blind spot among his Ruskin colleagues that I constantly encounter when I tell people what the mental health services actually do to their patients. In 1986 Selbourne published an article in the Times concerning the corruption of Labour politics in Liverpool. The article was published during the Wapping dispute when the print workers were fighting Murdoch. The Ruskin students and staff accused Selbourne of betrayal and his lectures were picketed by members of the print unions and students, which prevented him teaching. He later won a High Court action against Ruskin for constructive dismissal. My post ‘News From Sicily’ details how Michael Carr, the MP for Bootle who fought Militant, didn’t survive a visit to Walton Hospital in 1990. Walton was a region of Liverpool dominated by Militant. Carr had been the Bootle MP for 57 days before he was polished off by the dear old NHS. My post ‘A Vampire At Glyndwr University!’ describes the political row that surrounded the Walton Centre (the neurological unit which grew out of Walton Hospital), details the paedophiles’ friends who ‘supported the Centre’ and mentions the case of the spouse of someone who had fought the paedophiles’ friends – along with a friend – who did not survive ‘the treatment’ at the Walton Centre. It is not only Labour politics which have been corrupted in Liverpool – Lord Chris Rennard of the Lib Dems was also a product of Liverpool politics (see post ‘He Knows Where The Bodies Are Buried’). I was always intrigued by the left’s support for the print unions at Wapping anyway – these were the unions whose members actively discriminated against women and ethnic minorities and who were happy to print the Sun which vigorously supported Thatcher, even when the Sun was publishing fabricated interviews with women who had allegedly been widowed in the Falklands conflict, as well as photos of injured Argies. Exactly who’s side were the sodding print unions on??

So who was the Principal of Ruskin who had employed Matt Arnold as a teacher? It was Herbert Hughes aka Billy Hughes who was Principal between 1950-79. Billy Hughes was Labour MP for Wolverhampton West, 1945-50 and graduated from Balliol in 1935 the year that Ted Heath arrived at Balliol.

Heath’s near contemporaries at Balliol, Denis Healy and Roy Jenkins, were, like Heath, all President of the Balliol Junior Common Room. The Master of Balliol 1924-49 was Alexander ‘Sandie’ Lindsay. Lindsay was Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University, 1935-38. Whilst he was at Oxford, Lindsay was a leading figure in adult education. In 1949 he retired from Balliol and became the first Principal of the University College of North Staffordshire, which in 1962 became Keele University.

Whilst at Oxford, Billy Hughes was Chair of the Oxford Union Labour Club. The official history of the OULB maintains that there was a lack of ‘strong figures’ in the OULB at the time and that this resulted in the merging of the OULC with the Communists at Oxford after 1935. Billy Hughes was a Councillor in Lambeth in the late 1930s. This was many years before the big child sexual abuse scandals in Lambeth, but abuse scandals of that dimension usually have their roots in abuse which occurred decades previously, as in north Wales. Members of the Shirley Oaks Survivors have traced the organised abuse of children in care in Lambeth as back as far as the 1940s.

Billy Hughes was President of the WEA – Alan Bullock also lectured for the WEA. I know paedophiles’ friends in north Wales who have connections to the WEA. In 2001 Coleg Harlech merged with the WEA – my post ‘A Bit More Paleontology’ details the numerous links between Coleg Harlech and the paedophiles’ friends.

I am not suggesting that Ruskin College was a hotbed of paedophilia. However, a key member of an organised UK-wide paedophile ring who killed some of their victims after they went to the police or gave evidence in Court taught there and he was using his position to network with other paedophiles. That paedophile ring had members who worked in Westminster who enjoyed complete protection. Someone at Ruskin College will have known something about it. People who are involved in community studies as sociologists or historians get to hear at first hand what is happening to disadvantaged people and who is doing what to them. Like GPs and MPs, if they are even half competent they will know if they are working with a community which has a paedophile ring operating within it. One does not of course routinely shop people who have taken part in one’s community study, but if one realises that children are being raped and are then found dead if they’ve told anyone what has happened to them or are routinely illegally banged up in mental hospitals and that adults who have blown the whistle are sacked and framed for serious crimes, it is time to stop worrying about one’s historical loyalty to the labour movement.

The Gov’ts of Wilson, Heath, Callaghan, Thatcher, Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron and now May have all concealed the extent of the North Wales Paedophile Ring, which supplied children to the Westminster Paedophile Ring. Tory MPs aren’t going to have studied at Ruskin, but a lot of Labour politicians did. In 2012, after a  £17 million redevelopment programme, Ruskin opened a new building. The library was named the Callaghan library in honour of Jin Callaghan, who delivered a major education speech at Ruskin in 1976. Whilst Sunny Jim was making that speech, the boys in Bryn Estyn were being battered and molested by the former Ruskin student Peter Howarth and his colleagues as well as a variety of other people, including a Conservative MP and a police inspector. Matt Arnold, the former Ruskin teacher, was running Bryn Estyn at the time.

This blog has mentioned a few people who confronted the paedophiles’ friends who met untimely deaths in questionable circumstances, including at the hands of NHS facilities employing paedophiles’ friends. When I was still working at Bangor University – before I left north Wales after the relentless threats and harassment from the paedophiles’ friends employed by the local NHS and social services – I had begun working very closely with Professor Duncan Tanner, an historian at Bangor. Duncan was Director of Research at the time and was incredibly supportive of my work, reviewing my bids and suggesting reading which might be helpful. Duncan died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 51. He had developed a heart problem which had been successfully treated at a hospital in Manchester. Some weeks later, he had to go into Ysbyty Gwynedd for an entirely routine procedure that was not considered at all risky. He died. Very soon after Duncan’s funeral a huge article appeared in the local paper about the heroic efforts of the cardiology team at Ysbyty Gwynedd and how they’d saved the life of a local woman against all odds. These stories tended to appear after Ysbyty Gwynedd had killed someone.  The patient interviewed was a woman known to me. She used to ‘do the shopping’ for local pensioners but she had a habit of not giving the pensioners the change from their pensions and her husband had offered to give ‘sex education lessons’ to one of my former neighbours, a young woman with learning disabilities. Duncan died shortly after the spouse of someone else whom the paedophiles’ friends had a downer on died after treatment from Walton was unsuccessful. Before Duncan died he was working on the diaries of Richard Crossman and Tony Crosland. The Richard Crossman who worked at New College and the Tony Crosland who was friends with Ernest Armstrong, the father of Blair’s mate Hilary Armstrong – the Ernest Armstrong who almost certainly concealed the activities of Matt Arnold and Peter Howarth when they worked in Gateshead (see post ‘News From Sicily’). Duncan was probably the UK’s leading Labour historian. He also knew a great deal about the history of the Labour Party in Wales. I was deeply sorry that I didn’t work with Duncan for longer. I am not the historian that Duncan was but I did learn a great deal from him. Think about it paedophiles’ friends.

Yesterday’s copy of the Times published an article by Philip Collins in the wake of Ratko Mladic’s conviction at The Hague for genocide. Collins’s article mentioned someone who featured in my post ‘News From Sicily’ – Llew Smith, the former Labour MP for Blaenau Gwent. Collins was very angry with Llew because he had discovered that thirteen years ago, Smith had tabled an Early Day Motion -which was signed by Jeremy Corbyn, John McDonnell and others – in support of John Pilger, the journalist who had recently published an article regarding the ‘devastating human cost’ of the invasion of Kosovo led by NATO and the US. I noticed that Llew Smith actually stood down from the Commons shortly after signing that EDM and I wondered if he had been forced out by Blair and the gang for his sins. Llew Smith had also been the MEP for South Wales East and as I explained in my post ‘News From Sicily’, in 1994 he was somehow persuaded to stand down, only to be replaced by Glenys Kinnock. I’m wondering if perhaps Philip Collins might have forgotten some of what happened at Srebrenica. Things might not have been quite as Pilger suggested, but the rest of Europe – or indeed the world – did not cover itself in glory.

The Srebrenica Massacre occurred in July 1995 – more than 8000 Muslim Bosniak men were killed as a result of ethnic cleansing. The mass murder of the Muslim men was accompanied by the forced transfer and abuse of between 25,000 and 30,000 Bosniak women, children and the elderly. The Bosnian Army carried out the killings and transportation, assisted by a paramilitary unit from Serbia. The area in which all this occurred that been designated as an UN ‘safe area’ since 1993, which was why the refugees had fled there.

The refugees were located at Potocari and were supposedly under the protection of the UN. They were left with little food or water despite the sweltering heat. As they were in the compound they watched Serb soldiers setting houses and haystacks on fire. Serb soldiers then mingled with the refugees and began the summary executions of the men. Children were also killed and women were gang raped. All this was witnessed by the UN soldiers who did not intervene. Some of the refugees, watching what was happening to others, killed themselves by hanging. Photographers photographed women hanging dead from trees in the area who preferred to die rather than fall into the hands of the Serbian soldiers – those photos later appeared in the UK press. The refugees weren’t killed painlessly. Some had their noses, lips and ears chopped off. There was a case of a heavily pregnant woman who’s abdomen was cut open, after which the foetus was removed and cut in half. Girls as young as nine were raped by Serbian soldiers. Teenaged boys were ordered to rape girls younger than them, sometimes their own sisters. The UN soldiers – many of whom were members of the Dutch Army – watched it all and did nothing.

The people who had ordered the killings were Ratko Mladic, Slobodan Milosevic and Radovan Karadzic, President of Republika Srpska. After being indicted for war crimes by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Radovan famously went on the run – for thirteen years. Radovan was a psychiatrist. He trained in psychiatry at the Sarajevo University School of Medicine, then at Naestved Hospital Denmark in 1970 and between 1974-75 Radovan worked at Columbia University, New York. Radovan was a real Top Doctor. He was also a poet and an ecologist with an interest in alternative medicine. Radovan had a touch of the Dr Dafydd Alun Jones about him – after he graduated he worked in the psychiatric clinic in the main hospital in Sarajevo and boosted his income by providing fake medical reports and psychiatric evaluations for health care workers who wanted early retirement or to avoid punishment by claiming insanity after having been convicted of crimes. In 1984 after Radovan had worked as a therapist in a hospital in Belgrade, he was arrested for fraud and spent eleven months in detention before he was bailed out by a friend and released. His trial was subsequently halted on the grounds of lack of evidence, but later revived. In Sept 1985 Radovan was sentenced to three years in jail for embezzlement and fraud. He was released immediately on the grounds that he had already spent time in prison.

What did Radovan do when he went on the run? Was he holed up in a cellar somewhere or hiding in hedgerows, only going out under cover of darkness? No. Radovan worked as therapist in Belgrade, specialising in New Age medicine and sex therapy. He did have the good sense not to call himself Dr Radovan Karadzic, he actually went under the names of Dr Dragan David Dabic and D.D. David. Did he have cosmetic surgery to change his appearance and fingerprints a la the Mafia bosses who go on the run? No. He grew his hair, tied it into a ponytail and grew a beard. He had to make a bit of an effort because in Jan 2008 Radovan appeared at a medical conference in Belgrade where he delivered lectures to hundreds of people. Whilst he was ‘in hiding’ Radovan visited Vienna using the name Peter Glumac, claiming to be a purveyor of herbal potions and ointments. The Austrian police interviewed him about a homicide case – involving someone whom had not been one of the thousands of people killed by Radovan and his mates – but didn’t realise who he was. One would have thought that perhaps someone somewhere might just have spotted Radovan during those thirteen years when he pretended to be a therapist-hippy. They did. In 2005 someone from the BBC saw him getting out of a red Mercedes and identified him. It was admitted that western intelligence agencies knew where Radovan was but that there was no political will in London or Washington to seize him. At the time of the Srebrenica Massacre and the aftermath when Radovan worked as an Alternative Top Doctor quite openly in Europe, Blair and then Gordon Brown were in office in London and Bill ‘I did not have sex with that woman’ Clinton and then George Dubya Bush were in office in Washington. Well who else would have ever presided over that mess??

In July 2008 Radovan was finally arrested in Belgrade and detained in custody at The Hague. Radovan was found guilty of genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and sentenced to 40 years. In July 2016 he launched an appeal against his conviction. I have not heard whether Cherie Booth is acting for him.

Throughout the massacre and for the years that Radovan was on the run, Glenys Kinnock was the Member of the European Parliament for South Wales East and then the Member of the European Parliament for Wales (a newly established post, Glenys was the first incumbent). After Radovan had finally been arrested, Gordon was so impressed by Glenys that he appointed her Minister of State for Europe and then Minister of State for Africa and the UN. Neil and Glenys received a personal invite from Joe Biden to Barak Obama’s Presidential inauguration in Washington DC in 2009.

The horrors in the former Yugoslavia had a terrible effect on other people whose plight has never got a mention. Some eight years ago I was talking to a young Albanian woman who as a teenager had lived on the family farm. She told me that one day they heard screaming so they looked out of the window and saw people killing each other. Then soldiers came into her house and did terrible things. (I took that to mean that she had been raped – the woman who were raped in the former Yugoslavia would never use the phrase rape, they talked about soldiers doing bad or terrible things.) The family lost possession of their farm – it was explained to me that other people had taken over the farm because soldiers elsewhere had thrown them out of their own house. The young woman to whom I was chatting fled to Tirana and trained as a cardiology nurse. How did I meet this young woman? A friend asked me to go and visit her because they knew that I was working on a European sociology project and they thought that I might be interested in meeting her. Not only did I find out that the young Albanian woman had suffered in the shenanigans that European politicians are now claiming to have dealt with so nobly, but she and her friend were being kept in modern slavery. They were working as care assistants in a home near Caernarfon, having been sent to the job by an employment agency in Albania who had told them that they were going to be working in Devon as cardiology nurses. They could not escape from their employer because he had taken their passports and if they left his employment they would have been deported. The care home in question also employed a woman as the manager who was working as a prostitute in Liverpool and an addict whose partner was a big time drug dealer from Liverpool as a care assistant. I can tell the story now because the Albanians managed to escape after they were helped by a specialist lawyer. Whilst all this was going on, the young lady whom I met became pregnant and gave birth at Ysbyty Gwynedd.

So how was it that I was able to find out about the cess pit that this young woman was living in when no-one else -not even the Angels and Top Doctors who looked after her whilst she was pregnant, during the birth and then afterwards – noticed that they were dealing with a rape victim who was being kept in slavery?

Now that Radovan, Ratko and Slobodan have been convicted, Europe and the UN have taken a leaf out of the book of the UK social services after the many murders of children in their care and have stated that the people who were responsible for the Srebrenica Massacre have faced justice. The Netherlands did fess up that perhaps the Dutch soldiers who stood by and watched whilst the people whom they were ‘protecting’ were slaughtered might have borne responsibility for three of the deaths.

At present, some African nations and Russia are stating that the International Criminal Court at The Hague is a total joke and that they are going to withdraw from it. Putin must be pissing himself laughing as he gallops topless across the Steppes in sub-zero temperatures at the very thought of a school teacher from Holyhead who sat on the Board of a children’s charity – SNAP Cymru – alongside someone who was named in the biggest scandal involving the sexual abuse of children in care in the UK sitting in the European Parliament telling us how to deal with mass murderers. But at least Glenys enjoys trips to Brussels and Strasbourg and got to rub noses with Obama.

The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part III

I’m kicking off this third post in the Tony Blair series with yet another person who was PPS to Blair, a man who was appointed PPS to Blair just as David Hanson (see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part II) moved upward and onward. I am talking about Keith Hill, who was PPS to Blair from 2005 until Blair resigned in 2007.

Keith Hill was the Labour MP for Streatham, 1992-2010. So he was another one who was selected as a candidate before Blair got his hands on the controls of the Labour Party machine. In fact Hill was the Labour candidate for Blaby (Nigel Lawson’s constituency in Leicestershire) in 1979, so Hill had been around for a very long time.

Keith Hill was born and went to school in Leicester. He then went to Oxford – and after graduating completed a Diploma in Education at that hive of activity of the paedophiles’ friends whose stronghold was/is in Wales, Aberystwyth University. Hill then lectured at Leicester University and at Strathclyde University, 1969-73.

The fact that Keith Hill both taught at Leicester University and some ten years later stood for Blaby suggests that he retained links to his place of origin. Could Keith Hill have been someone else who knew about the activities of Greville Janner and his friend Frank Beck with children in care and that Leicester City Council, the Social Services and people in Leicester University were concealing child abuse?

Hill worked as a research officer for the Labour Party’s International Dept, 1974-76 and was then the political officer with the NUR (National Union of Railwaymen), which subsequently amalgamated with the NUS (National Union of Seamen) – with which John Prescott had a long association – to form the RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers) in 1990. The RMT became a very powerful union – it is a big supporter of Jeremy Corbyn – thanks to the efforts of Bob Crow, it’s General Secretary, 2002-14. Crow was loathed by many for claiming to speak for the working class whilst he drew a salary of approx. £150k pa, dined in Mayfair restaurants and went on luxury cruises. However many of those who loathed Crow were dreadful themselves and certainly didn’t live modestly – Crow’s critics included Blair, Priti Patel, Max Hastings and Richard Littlejohn. In 1997 Bob Crow briefly joined the Socialist Labour Party, which was established by his mate Arthur Scargill. Michael Mansfield – who studiously ignored anything to do with the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal, as well as other child abuse cases and worked with a number of people who had colluded with child abuse (see post ‘Workers’ Play Time’) – was also a mate of Scargills and co-founded the Socialist Labour Party. I saw Arthur Scargill speak at Bangor University about six years ago – the person who seemed to have arranged his visit to Bangor was a paedophiles’ friend (see post ‘It’s All About Protecting Children’).

In 1992 Keith Hill took the seat of Streatham from the sitting Conservative MP Sir William Shelton, who had occupied the seat since 1974. Prior to that, Shelton had been the Tory MP for Clapham.

William Shelton had been one of the key people who ensured that Thatcher became leader of the Conservative Party in 1975. Airey Neave managed Thatcher’s campaign, with Shelton as his second in command. Shelton was responsible for mobilising the right wing of the Party behind Thatcher and also sent out misinformation to the media in order to manipulate the campaign outcome. Shelton would have been good at that – before entering politics he had pursued a career in advertising and he remained in that business whilst he was an MP. He was the MD for Grosvenor Advertising in 1969, the Chairman of Washer, Fox, Coughlin and in 1983 set up Shelton Consultants. He was appointed a Director of Saracen Consultants in 1987. Shelton undertook a lot of international work and at times had been based in Colombia and Venezuela.

Shelton was politically active in south London for years. In 1964 he was President of Wandsworth Young Conservatives; he sat on the GLC representing Wandsworth in 1967; in 1968 he was Chief Whip for the Conservative majority on ILEA. Whilst he was MP for Streatham, he clashed with the leadership of Lambeth Borough Council whilst the Council was under the control of Ted Knight. That will have been when Peter Mandelson was a member of the Council, along with Paul Boateng, Linda Bellos and many other friends of this blog. Whilst Lambeth Council’s children’s homes were rife with paedophiles and when the Council were sending some of the kids in its care to north Wales – where they were abused by paedophiles. I can’t find any references to Shelton speaking out about that though – or about the abuse of children in Wandsworth or about the corruption and malpractice at St George’s Hospital Medical School which from 1980 onwards was located just down the road and covered the population of Streatham. The wrongdoing that I witnessed and experienced at St George’s and the associated mental health unit Springfield Hospital took place between 1989-91, whilst Shelton was MP. As did the bizarre behaviour of the corrupt detectives in Streatham Police Station in 1990/91 when the mental health services in north Wales perjured themselves and demanded that I be arrested (see post ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London’) – detectives which included a man who boasted about having worked for the North Wales Police and whilst he was stationed there had, with his mates in the police, beaten up and framed local young men from Bethesda and thrown them in Llyn Ogwen. He had got away with it every time thanks to his friendship with a local corrupt magistrate Geoff, who was the landlord of the Douglas Arms Hotel in Bethesda. I remember those days well – on occasions, young men were found drowned in that lake, after having ‘gone swimming whilst drunk’.

Geoff and his wife Sheila had a son who, like Aled Jones and Catrin Finch, was a bit of a child star. Geoff’s son was a very talented organist and succeeded in winning a scholarship to Eton. As with Aled and Catrin, TV programmes and media articles appeared regarding the genius that was Geoff’s son. I think that he went on to either Oxford or Cambridge and after that returned to north Wales, to St Asaph Cathedral. There was a problem at that Cathedral – in 2015 Hugh Davies, the man who had been the choirmaster and organist at St Asaph, 1985-98, was imprisoned for the possession of child porn. Even more worryingly, a former music pupil of Davies’s who had alleged that Davies had abused him whilst he was a teenager killed himself.

Sir William Shelton was also MP for Streatham when Oliver Brooke, Professor of Paediatrics at St George’s, was jailed in 1986 for the possession of huge quantities of child porn – which he had stored in offices at St George’s…

There was another notorious establishment in Shelton’s constituency – Cynthia Payne’s brothel at Ambleside Avenue. Cynthia’s brothel came to national prominence in 1978 when the police raided it and found a sex party in full swing attended by over 50 men, including a peer, a number of solicitors and a vicar. What was not published in the press was that a number of consultants from St George’s availed themselves of the services of Cynthia’s brothel – she was also known to have judges on her guest list. After the trial in 1980, Cynthia ended up in Holloway, but none of the brothel’s customers were named let alone prosecuted. The police raided Cynthia again in 1986, whilst another party was underway but at her trial in 1987 Cynthia was acquitted.

I do not mind if Cynthia held sex parties for consenting adults and I certainly don’t think that she should have been imprisoned for doing so, but the worrying thing about Cynthia’s brothel was the allegations that men with a taste for sexual activities which did not involve consenting adults were using it as a networking base. Friendships between judges, Top Doctors, solicitors, policemen etc made in the brothel could have proved very useful in the events of people being charged for sex offences.

The detectives who worked on the Oliver Brooke case were livid when Brooke was released early on appeal after the judge compared Brooke’s collection of child porn to a collection of cigarette cards. The police who had investigated Brooke maintained that he was Mr Big in a pan-European child porn ring.

Cynthia Payne was very friendly with Screaming Lord Sutch, the leader of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party and at one point Sutch shared the house/brothel at Ambleside Avenue with her. Sutch was famous for polling more votes than Dr Death’s continuing SDP in the 1990 Bootle election, but what was less well-known was that David Sutch suffered from manic-depression and at times became very ill. I think the arrangement with Cynthia was that they were looking after each other, having both been through a bad time. Sutch hung himself in 1999 after a long period of severe depression. He had been under medical care for years and was known to have been in a very bad way.  So like all those former kids in care and mental health patients in north Wales who knew the names of the guilty and the details of their crimes, it would seem that David Sutch too wasn’t given the care that he needed when he was seriously ill and WHOOPS he killed himself. And his memories will have died with him – the memories of all those people who were visiting the brothel, those doctors and judges and peers and politicians who would have had a lot to lose if ever they were to be named in say, a child abuse scandal and David Sutch recognised their names.

David Sutch hung himself just before the Waterhouse Report was published. So he was not receiving appropriate help for severe depression whilst the Waterhouse Inquiry was underway and taking evidence.

Why do I remember so much about the brothel at Ambleside Avenue? Because at the time when I was being hounded out of my job at St George’s and arrested on trumped up charges at the behest of the mental health services in north Wales, I lived in Streatham. Not a million miles away from Ambleside Avenue. No I didn’t ever pop across for a cup of tea with Cynthia and Lord Sutch, but that’s because I didn’t at the time know that St George’s and their associates had links with and were concealing the criminal activities of the paedophiles’ friends in north Wales – I only found out about that years later, when my lawyer obtained documentation from St George’s and Springfield.

I described in my post ‘Some Very Eminent Psychiatrists From London’ how those esteemed experts at St George’s all agreed with Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends that I was Most Dangerous and was probably planning to murder Dafydd et al in their beds, yet Professor Nigel Eastman – one of the corrupt Top Doctors at St George’s who is a mate of Helena Kennedy (see post ‘Eve Was Framed – As Were A Lot Of Other People’) – told me that he thought that I ought to go back to live in north Wales. This was my desire as well, because I hated London and presumed that they were simply all quite mad down there and although there was also a bunch of mad, corrupt Top Doctors constantly having me arrested when I was in north Wales as well, I reckoned that if I was going to be threatened and harassed constantly I’d rather be living in nice surroundings. However I did think it a little odd that Eastman had recommended this – did he want me to murder Jones and the paedophiles in cold blood and that’s why he recommended that I go back and live on their patch?? But what if Eastman et al had been concerned about who I might meet if I remained living in Streatham? They knew that I had researched Jones and the paedophiles’ friends, they knew that I was identifying their associates and they knew that I was beginning to find out the extent of their criminal activities. Just imagine if I continued to live in Streatham and started comparing notes with Cynthia Payne or David Sutch…

It is interesting to note that at her second trial Cynthia was acquitted. In 1987. By which time, Mary Wynch, Alison Taylor and I were making a lot of noise about the criminal activities of Dafydd Alun Jones and Lucille Hughes in north Wales. The Dafydd and Lucille who were facilitating a paedophile ring in north Wales which was trafficking children to London – the Dafydd and Lucille who were on very good terms with all those Top Doctors and social workers based at St George’s.

I was interested to read that William Shelton was ‘a traditionalist on moral issues’, in the light of what was happening in his constituency.

Dafydd Alun Jones was a traditionalist on moral issues as well – at least when he was giving talks to the members of various Churches in north Wales (see post ‘A Serious Moral Collapse?’). Then when he’d finished his lecture he would return to base to facilitate a paedophile gang, sexually exploit the patients, lie in Court and sell drugs to addicts.

After Thatcher became leader of the Tory Party, William Shelton worked as her PPS for a year. Shelton was Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Dept of Education and Science, 1981-83. The Secretary of State for Education and the Science at the time was Sir Keith Joseph. Brown and me wrote to Keith Joseph when we were undergrads – about student funding – and Keith Joseph wrote us a very rude letter back. Thatcher probably put us on her hit list then and subsequently escalated our names to the very top when we complained about Gwynne the lobotomist and Dafydd and the paedophiles a few years later.

As befits someone who was a traditionalist on moral issues, William Shelton was banned from being a company director for five years in 1997, after an investigation into ‘financial irregularities’ in his company Access To Justice. Shelton had set up Access To Justice in 1995 to provide free legal advice for people on low incomes. Which sounds an interesting company for a hard right Thatcherite to have established. I wonder who was receiving the free legal advice and for what. Or indeed who was providing it.

After Thatcher became leader of the Conservative Party in 1975, the victory party was held at Shelton’s house in Pimlico – Thatch and Denis attended the celebration.

Sir Peter Morrison – the Tory MP elected for Chester in 1974 and who supported Thatcher’s 1975 leadership campaign – was known to be abusing children in care in north Wales. One boy from London alleged that Sir Peter Morrison abused him and some children in care from Wrexham maintained that they were taken to London and supplied to men for sex. Morrison was Deputy Chair of the Tory Party, 1986-87 and Thatcher’s PPS in 1990. When Thatcher was challenged for the leadership of the Tory Party by ‘stalking horse’ Sir Anthony Meyer in 1989, it was William Shelton who led her campaign. Anthony Meyer didn’t manage to depose Thatcher on that occasion but she was sufficiently weakened by him to crumble in 1990 when there was another leadership challenge. The organiser of Thatcher’s leadership campaign in 1990 was Sir Peter Morrison.

I told the story of Sir Anthony Meyer and his leadership challenge in my post ‘The Celtic Iron Lady And Yet More Recent History’. Anthony Meyer died a real unsung hero. Not only did he know how bloody dangerous Thatcher was and how dysfunctional and corrupt the Tories in Clwyd – and their leaderene Beata Brookes – were, but I think that Anthony Meyer knew about the paedophile ring as well and was trying to chuck a spanner in their works. Meyer was constructed as a deluded old bugger with grandiose ambitions – he wasn’t, he was a very brave man who did north Wales a very big favour and I only wish that there had been more politicians like Meyer, instead of hordes of weak greedy little people who ignored something horrific in order to bag a seat in Parliament.

To return to Keith Hill, the mate of Blair’s who was MP for Streatham after Shelton. Years before he was appointed PPS to Blair, in 1997 Hill was appointed PPS to a big buddy of Blair, Hilary Armstrong. Armstrong was one of Blair’s inner circle and Blair repeatedly praises her loyalty and commitment to New Labour in his autobiography.

Hilary Armstrong was Labour MP for North West Durham, 1987-10 and is now in the Lords. She was a student at the University of East London (then West Ham Technical Institute) and then went to the University of Birmingham to do a Diploma in Social Work. Hilary describes herself as a ‘former social worker and lecturer’ – she lectured in Community and Youth Work at Sunderland Poly and was a community worker at Southwick Neighbourhood Action Project, Sunderland. Hilary also did a stint with VSO in Kenya.

So Hilary was yet another social worker selected as a candidate for Labour during those years when it was evident that there was one hell of a problem with children in the care of social workers being sexually abused. Just to add to the suspicion in Hilary’s case, there could have been a great degree of control exercised by the Labour Party machine regarding the choice of Hilary as a candidate and indeed when it was decided that Hilary might be needed in the Commons – because Hilary took over her dad’s Parliamentary seat when he retired! I’ll return to Hilary’s dad soon.

Hilary was a Durham County Councillor, for Crook North Division, 1985-88. She was PPS to John Smith when he was leader of the Labour Party 1992-94 and Hilary played a major part in ensuring that the Labour Party adopted the policy of OMOV. Hilary was a member of AMICUS, the union which was formed from a merger between the AEUU and MSF. At least one of the MSF reps at St George’s Hospital Medical School in the late 80s/early 90s was corrupt and was concealing serious misconduct and criminal activity. AMICUS later merged with the TGWU to form UNITE. Hilary used her union links to drum up support within the Labour Party to rewrite Clause IV.

In the 1992 General Election, both Tim Farron and Theresa May stood against Hilary.

Hilary Armstrong spent four years as Minister for Local Gov’t in the DETR (Dept for the Environment, Transport and the Regions) and then the DTLR (Dept for Transport, Local Gov’t and the Regions). Hilary’s boss during these years was none other than John Prescott.

After the 2001 General Election Blair appointed Hilary Chief Whip. In May 2006 she became Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster; she was Minister for Social Exclusion, 2006-07. Hilary resigned from the Gov’t in June 2007 when Blair resigned as PM. Gordon subsequently appointed her as Chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party’s Manifesto Committee regarding policy ideas covering children…

In 2010 Hilary was given her peerage. She is Chair of Changing Lives, a charity in the North East which provides services for people with complex needs – Changing Lives is commissioned to provide some services for the NHS.

Hilary is married to Paul Corrigan, who was a senior advisor to Blair and his Health Secretaries Alan Milburn and John Reid, 2001-07. Between 2007-09 Corrigan was Director of Strategy and Commissioning at London Strategic Health Authority.

Corrigan ticks every box that someone should who has been involved with our institutionally corrupt NHS which has concealed neglect, poor care, patient deaths and has ruined the lives of whistleblowers. He is or has been: a non-executive Director of the CQC, as well as of the Kings Fund and Nuffield Trust; adjunct Professor of Health Policy at Imperial College; adjunct Professor of Health Policy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong; involved with Public Private Ltd (a consultancy firm based at Queen Elizabeth Street); a member of the Strategic Committee of Guys and Tommys Charity; a Trustee of the Ways To Wellness Foundation in Newcastle;  a Trustee of the English Touring Theatre.

Corrigan also works for NHS Providers, teaching on induction courses for non-executive and executive directors. He also describes himself as ‘a consultant and a coach’.

I have previously speculated that the Cleveland Child Abuse Scandal which blew up between Feb and July 1987 in the North East of England provided a useful distraction and muddied the waters in a most convenient way at a time when Mary Wynch, Alison Taylor and I were all screaming loudly about the criminal activities in north Wales. My post ‘The Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Connection?’ details some of the links between the paedophiles’ friends in north Wales and the North East of England.

Now to the man whose retirement enabled Hilary, his only child, to bag a seat in Parliament – Ernest Armstrong, Labour MP for North West Durham, 1964-87.

In 1983 one Tony Blair, a barrister living in London, was elected as Labour MP for the newly created constituency of Sedgefield, just next door to Ernest’s constituency. Just like that.

Ernest Armstrong went to Leeds Teacher Training College and became a primary school headmaster. He was elected as a Councillor on Sunderland Borough Council and Chaired the Sunderland Education Committee, 1960-65. Ernest was elected to Parliament in 1964. In 1965 he was appointed PPS to Tony Greenwood (who had been Deputy Leader of the Labour Party under Clement Attlee) and then PPS to Merlyn Rees.

Merlyn Rees was Labour MP for Leeds South (which changed its name to Morley and Leeds South in 1983), 1963-92. We now know that a paedophile ring was in operation in the Leeds area whilst Merlyn Rees was MP for that constituency. Furthermore there was serious police corruption in the region and it was also the stamping ground of Jimmy Savile. Savile was molesting patients in the local hospitals and Yorkshire was also host to the Kerr Haslam scandal. William Kerr and Michael Haslam were two psychiatrists in York who were known to be sexually assaulting and raping their female patients between the 1960s and 90s. They were not stopped until they had almost hit retirement age, never faced any action from the GMC and were not put on trial until the early years of the millennium – the trials were at Leeds Crown Court. Even then, only one of them went to prison and only for a short while. See post ‘All The Ingredients Of A Scandal…’ for details of the Kerr Haslam scandal.

Merlyn Rees was born in Pontypridd in south Wales but moved to London and went to school at Harrow. He was Secretary of State for N Ireland 1974-76, when the sexual abuse of children at the Kincora Boys Home in Belfast by Whitehall civil servants and members of the British Army was concealed. Rees then served as Home Secretary under Jim Callaghan between 1974-79. Bryn Estyn had been an approved school managed directly by the Home Office until just before Merlyn Rees was appointed Home Secretary. He will have known about the sexual assaults and brutality on the boys there. The Home Office was responsible for running Risley Remand Centre. Mary Wynch had been unlawfully arrested and imprisoned in Risley Remand Centre by Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends whilst Merlyn Rees was Home Secretary. Dafydd and the paedophiles’ friends were using that place as their personal prison which was why Mary ended up in there – along with the kids in care from north Wales who complained about being sexually abused or beaten up.

Merlyn Rees retired from the Commons at the 1992 General Election. Just as it was all going off in North Wales, with police investigations into a suspected paedophile ring, former residents of children’s homes naming Gordon Anglesea – a senior officer with the North Wales Police – as having been one of the people who molested them and reports of the abuse of children in care in north Wales appearing in the London media. Then days before the General Election, five possible witnesses with information about the paedophile gang in north Wales were killed in a fire started by a petrol bomb  – the man who was alleged to have confessed to starting the fire was found dead days later having been hit by a lorry on a country road and one survivor of the fire died in mysterious circumstances after he alleged that victims of the paedophile gang were being murdered (see post ‘The Silence of the Welsh Lambs).

As soon as Merlyn Rees stepped down from the Commons he was given a peerage and became Lord Merlyn-Rees.

Ernest Armstrong was Assistant Gov’t Whip, 1967-69 and Lord Commissioner of the Treasury, 1969-70.

Ernest was a junior Minister in the Dept of Education and Science under Secretary of State Reg Prentice, 1974-75. Reg Prentice was a Minister in both Labour and Conservative Gov’ts. He was Labour MP for East Ham North (which later became Newham North East) from 1957 until 1977 when he defected to the Tories. Before he defected he was Minister of State at the Dept of Education and Science, 1964-66 – under Secretary of State Tony Crosland – then Secretary of State for Education and Science 1974-75.

Prentice left the Labour Party in 1977 after local activists deselected him. The local party had been infiltrated by Militant and in an attempt to ensure that Prentice wasn’t deselected, a Julian Lewis posed as a Labour moderate and joined the constituency party. It was later revealed that Julian Lewis had been backed by the far right Freedom Association. Lewis’s attempts to shore up Prentice’s position in the Labour Party were unsuccessful although he did gain control of the Newham Labour Party for a short time in 1976, but Lewis himself was elected as Tory MP for the New Forest in 1997, a seat he still occupies. Throughout the 80s Julian Lewis took part in covert activities to oppose left wing causes, particularly the anti-nuclear movement. He used Ann Widdecombe for this purpose (see post ‘Doris Karloff – Honest About Her Expenses But Not Much Else’).

After being deselected in Newham, Prentice became Tory MP for Daventry in 1979, after receiving considerable help from Lady Kisty Hesketh, Chair of the Daventry Conservative Association. Daventry is in Northamptonshire. The county contains St Andrews Hospital, a psychiatric hospital which for decades has been the centre of allegations of abuse and neglect and played a role in the case of Jeremy Bamber, a suspected serious miscarriage of justice (see post ‘Family Annihilation’). Much more recently there has been great concern at the number of learning disabled people being detained at St Andrews against the wishes of both they and their families. At least one such patient has died as a result of ‘restraint’ and ‘medication’.

After being elected as a Tory MP Prentice enjoyed a new lease of life and became a junior Minister for Social Security in the DHSS between 1979-81 in Thatcher’s Gov’t. The Secretary of State for Social Security at the time was Patrick Jenkin, who was best remembered for stating that if God had wanted us to have equal opportunities he wouldn’t have created men and women.  Which is almost as good as the old joke about the vicar who wrote a letter to the Times saying that if God had wanted us to run around naked we’d have been born with no clothes on.

There was of course organised abuse of children in Newham in the 70s and 80s – it was yet another Borough which was sending children in care to children’s homes in north Wales…

In 1992 John Major gave Prentice a peerage. In his later years, Prentice was President of the Conservative Association at Devizes. The local MP was Michael Ancram, Chairman of the Conservative Party.

After his stint with Reg Prenctice, Ernest Armstrong then became a junior Minister in the Dept of the Environment, 1975-79 – he served under two Secretaries of State there, initially under his friend Tony Crosland and then under Peter Shore. Peter Shore was MP for Stepney, 1964-97. Shortly after he was elected, he was appointed PPS to Harold Wilson the PM. Denis Healey referred to Shore as ‘Harold’s lapdog’. Stepney is in the Borough of Tower Hamlets. Tower Hamlets was yet another Borough that sent kids in its care into the arms of the paedophiles in north Wales (see post ‘Tower Hamlets, Paul Boateng and Tessa Jowell’). In 1994 Blair nominated Shore as his representative on the Commission On Standards in Public Life. Peter Shore received a peerage in 1997.

Ernest Armstrong’s obituary in the ‘Indie’ states that Ernest was very influential on Tony Crosland and civil servant Toby Weaver, whilst Crosland was Secretary of State for Education and Science, 1965-67. For more details about the bisexual Tony Crosland and the swinger whom he had an affair with, Roy Jenkins – whom Blair described as his ‘mentor’ – see post ‘The Most Dangerous Man In The World – Part I’.

Between 1981-87 Ernest was Deputy Speaker. He was Deputy to George Thomas aka Lord Tonypandy  – who concealed corruption and abuse of children whilst he was in the Welsh Office (see post ‘The Cradle of Filth’) and was posthumously investigated for historical child abuse himself, as was his friend Leo Abse.

George Thomas said of Armstrong that he was ‘a man whose reliability was as solid as Durham Cathedral’. Betty Boothroyd – who became Speaker herself and in that capacity prevented Ann Clwyd from asking questions in the House regarding the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal at the time of the investigations in the early 1990s – stated that Armstrong ‘helped to steer my early Parliamentary career’.

The good thing about Ernest was that he was a devout Christian – like his daughter’s bosom buddy Tony Blair and Tony’s wife Cherie. Ernest was to be precise a Methodist and was Vice-Chair of the Methodist Conference, 1974-75. Ernest was active in the UNA (United Nations Association).

Dafydd Alun Jones was invited to speak at Bangor University by the UNA some years ago – Dafydd was billed as an expert on drug abuse and was going to be speaking about that subject. Dafydd’s event was cancelled after I offered to attend and distribute information about Dafydd’s previous.

Like William Shelton, Ernest took a firm line on morality and he seconded Tim Sainsbury’s Private Members Indecent Displays (Control) Bill, 1980-81. I wonder if Ernest knew that Hilary’s and Blair’s friend Alastair Campbell used to write pornographic stories for Forum magazine? Although to be fair Forum didn’t have pictures in, just letters and stories and medical advice provided by Dr Philip Cauthery, who doubled up as the student doctor at Aston University whilst Aston had one of the highest rates of student suicides among UK universities. Cauthery also ran a sex therapy business with Dr Martin Cole in Birmingham, whom Mary Whitehouse tried to have prosecuted for running a brothel.

Ernest Armstrong was political advisor for the TV drama House of Cards. I never saw this, but I did hear a lot about it – I understand that the storyline centred around a particularly unpleasant scheming politician who was prepared to ruin and kill people in order to become PM.

Peter Howarth, one of the paedophiles who worked at Bryn Estyn who eventually went to prison for the serious sexual abuse of boys there, had between 1966-73 been employed at Axwell School in Gateshead. Matt Arnold had been the headmaster at Axwell whilst Howarth worked there. In May 1973 Arnold was appointed Head of Bryn Estyn. In November 1973 Howarth was appointed to a senior position in Bryn Estyn.

Just to remind readers – Ernest Armstrong was a teacher whose main interest was in education and he Chaired the Sunderland Education Committee between 1960-65. He also influenced and was friends with Tony Crosland, whilst Crosland was the Secretary of State for Education – whilst Howarth and Arnold worked at Gateshead.

Howarth and Arnold were not the only abusers of children in the North East of England. There was an approved school in Durham run by an ‘expert’ in ‘troubled children’ where children were being sexually and physically assaulted and whilst Blair was MP for Sedgefield one of the activists in his local Labour Party was convicted of child abuse.

After Keith Hill had finished being PPS to Hilary Armstrong, in 1998 he was appointed Assistant Gov’t Whip and then in 1999 Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (and Minister for London) at the DETR. Hill was responsible for local transport and transport in London. Hill also prepared the way for the London Mayoral elections and was Minister for the national joke that was the Millennium Dome.

After the 2001 General Election, Hill was appointed Deputy Chief Whip by Blair.

In 2003 Hill joined the many paedophiles’ friends in the Privy Council. (He was offered a knighthood in 2010 but turned it down.)

Until the 2005 General Election, Hill was Minister for Housing and Planning in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, ie. Prescott. It was after the 2005 reshuffle that Keith Hill became PPS to Blair. Hill returned to the backbenches when Gordon Brown became PM in 2007.

After leaving Parliament, Hill became Chair of Lambeth Living, an ALMO (arms-length management organisation) which administers most of Lambeth’s  social housing stock. In 2012 he was appointed as the independent regulator for ARMA (the Association of Managing Agents). ARMA is described as a trade association for firms managing private residential leasehold blocks of flats in England and Wales. It is a ‘self-regulating regime’. I cannot help wondering why, if the firms managing the accommodation are abiding by the law and adhering to health and safety regulations, they need Keith Hill to allow them to do what they want in the name of ‘self-regulation’ and ‘arms length management’.

Grenfell Tower anyone?

In Feb 1915 Keith became Chair of  the Residents Commission On Council Housing for Hammersmith and Fulham Council. We are told that ‘the Commission is working with council house tenants to explore how they can be given more control and safeguards over their homes, rents and service charges’. Sounds like service userdom for tenants to me – consult them and hold them responsible for things which they have no control over. It will then be their fault when their houses go up in flames a la Grenfell Tower.

When Keith Hill stood down from the Commons, Chuka Umunna took over the seat of Streatham. A feature in a local paper looked back on Keith Hill’s time as MP for the constituency and mentioned that in the late 1980s Keith Hill shared a flat with the transgender cross-dressing comedian, major Labour Party donor and aspiring Labour MP Eddie Izzard. Eddie is a big supporter of Jeremy Corbyn – who was one of the many people politically involved in Islington when Islington Council’s children’s homes had been infiltrated by a paedophile gang with links to organised crime. The paper reported that Hill and Izzard shared a flat in Ambleside Gardens in Streatham. From what I can work out there is no Ambleside Gardens in Streatham – but there is most definitely an Ambleside Avenue. It was where Cynthia and Lord Sutch lived – Cynthia’s brothel.

Until Keith Hill won Streatham for Labour, for many years Streatham had been a Tory constituency. Hill’s win was attributed to a boundary change, which resulted in a sizeable part of Brixton, including the town hall, being relocated to the constituency of Streatham. I do not know who will have been responsible for the boundary change – but it certainly presented an opportunity for yet more concealing of the organised abuse of children and associated serious crime.

Whilst searching the internet for info about Keith Hill, an unrelated but topical news report popped up. It mentioned a Baroness Julia Cumberlege who had Chaired the ‘Better Births’ National Maternity Review in 2015. The report featured a nice photo of Cumberlege with some new mums who had all stated that they were delighted with Cumberlege’s recommendations for natural births. Over the last few months there has been an admission that there has been far too much dogma regarding ‘natural birth’ and whilst it is absolutely fine for some women, a number of women have suffered serious injury or have lost their babies because of a reluctance of midwives to intervene. In some cases mothers have died. It was the dogmatic insistence on natural births by a group of aggressive – and incompetent -midwives at Furness General Hospital Cumbria that led to a spate of deaths of babies. The deaths were concealed by the NHS and the sordid truth was only discovered by James Titcombe after his own baby died at the hospital in 2008. James was subsequently invited to contribute to the CQC’s work re patient safety but resigned after facing relentless hostility and rudeness from the midwives associated with the CQC. Cumberlege’s review didn’t take the Cumbria experience into account then.

Julia Cumberlege was given a peerage in 1990 – she sits as a Tory. I don’t know WHY Cumberlege was given a peerage, her wiki simply intriguingly refers to her coming ‘from a medical family’. That usually translates as ‘my dad’s a Top Doctor’.

In 1986 Cumberlege was involved with producing a report which recommended allowing Angels to prescribe certain drugs. In mental health that has been interpreted as giving Angels carte blanche to forcibly drug any patient they feel like – a patient who may for example be questioning them or even complaining about being ‘restrained’ – without seeking another opinion.

After arriving in the Lords, Cumberlege was in 1992 appointed a junior Health Minister. Until 1997 she covered all health and social services matters in the Lords. So she’ll have covered the North Wales Child Abuse Scandal, the associated criminality in the mental health services and the commissioning of Dr Dafydd Alun Jones to provide ‘substance abuse services’ for north Wales (see post ‘The Evolution Of A Drugs Baron?’).

Cumberlege was the ‘sponsor Minister’ for Plymouth, responsible for the regeneration and a budget of £45 million pa. Why she was let loose with that sort of money I do not know.

Speaking in the Lords in 2000 Cumberlege recommended replacing the NHS with an insurance premium. She has also promoted the use of private provision within the NHS and suggested that Gov’t should put hospitals under private practice. Note to Cumberlege: Cygnet Healthcare and the Priory are now being commissioned to provide huge swathes of mental health care for NHS patients. There has been scandal after scandal and numerous patient deaths. That is because Cygnet and the Priory are run by the same shite, unscrupulous Top Doctors who previously neglected their NHS patients and concealed criminal misconduct eg. Robert Kehoe, Adrienne Key and Robin Jacobson. Paula Yates and Michael Hutchence paid good money for treatment from the Priory Roehampton. They are both dead, having killed themselves.

In 2010 Cumberlege was awarded an honorary Fellowship by the RCN.
Cumberlege is, among other things: a Trustee of Cancer Research UK; a Senior Associate of the Kings Fund; Secretary of the Dying Well Parliamentary Group; Vice-President of the Royal Society for Public Health; honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians; Vice-President of the Royal College of Nursing and Midwifery; President of Age UK, East Sussex.

Cumberlege is a Roman Catholic. In 2006-07 she Chaired the Commission reviewing the approach of the Catholic Church in England and Wales to child protection. She also spoke at the Catholic Medical Association in Bristol in 2009 – the meeting was officiated by Catholic prelate Archbishop Peter Smith.

Peter Smith is the Metropolitan Archbishop of Southwark. He was Bishop of East Anglia (1995-01) and the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cardiff (2001-10). Peter Smith has a law degree from Exeter University.

Smith was named as Archbishop of Cardiff in the wake of a controversy regarding paedophile priests in the archdiocese.  Smith stated that he wanted ‘to help people bind up the wounds and bring healing’.

In 2010 Smith was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Southwark. In 2015 Southwark Crown Court heard that Peter Smith was one of two bishops responsible for allowing Father Antony McSweeney to be appointed a priest in the Roman Catholic Diocese of East Anglia following an incident in 1998 when a housekeeper found porn at McSweeney’s home. Peter Smith treated the matter as one for the church to deal with alone and did not involve the police. Since Smith made that decision, McSweeney was imprisoned for abusing boys at Grafton House children’s home between 1978-81.

Peter Smith has Chaired the Catholic Truth Society since 1993, Chaired the Dept for Christian Responsibility and Citizenship within the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales since 1998 and Chaired the Central Religious Advisory Committee of the BBC and ITC between 2001-04. He was made an honorary Fellow of the University of Wales Lampeter in 2004 and an honorary Fellow of Cardiff University in 2006.

In 2001 Cumberlege set up her own company, Cumberlege Connections Ltd. Her husband Patrick Cumberlege is a Director.

The Cumberleges were in the Courts earlier this year. They are opposing the development of affordable homes in East Sussex, in the village of Newick. The Cumberleges explained to the Court that they are residents of Newick and members of Newick Village Society. Patrick is the former Chairman of Newick Village Society and the Baroness has been a parish, district and County Councillor, ‘representing the village’. And they certainly don’t want riff-raff moving in near them.
